I really didn't expect much when I saw the outside of this place but the inside was very charming. Ordered the lunch special: chicken cacciatore which came with a salad. Let's start with the salad, it was a regular garden salad but WOW the raspberry vinaigrette was heavenly. The pasta was delicious! You have to like garlic, and I do! The owner even came out to our table and mentioned that they would be adding live music and a dinner club, I WILL be back! Loved that they brought your bill with fresh home made cookies that were still warm from the oven, very nice homey touch!

Friendly, prompt service and great food. My picky Italian friend was impressed. The prices are bargain for the quality and quantity of food. You will leave smiling!

My daughter, Kyra, came up for the graduation of her brother, so I snatched her to go to Portland to try one of my Merc Perk restaurants. Merc Perk's are the best thing to happen since peanut butter joined jelly. For half price, one gets to sample the best of Portland business and, in this case, a restaurant "Bocci's on 7th". We had a attempted to go there once previously, but they were closed. It's a small little restaurant that stands on its own on 7th Street in Southeast Portland. Parking was convenient and close and we were greeted by friendly staff and a wonderful chef that looks to be the "Wizard" of the place. The special was a four cheese, four meat calzone served with salad for.....get this.....$7.95. They had a tomato bisque soup that I wanted to try, too. Kyra orderd a coffee (Oktoberfest), an amaretto chocolate cake and a Reuben sandwich with a salad. Yes, she ordered in that order! The food came and it really was amazing, not ony in presentation but in quality, care and price. The calzone came with its freshly made dough and a generous four cheese four meat filling. It had a side of homemade marinara sauce with cheese and some pepperonchini. The Reuben sandwich was on large slices of dark artisan Russian rye, sauerkraut, pastrami and 1000 island dressing. It came with a generous and fresh salad (of "just picked" quality) and two house dressings. Both items were so impressive in taste that Kyra and I just shook our heads to understand how something so made on the premise can be so reasonably priced. We decided to take and try two more items so Kyra chose a cold Italian sandwich of three meats, two cheeses and an appropriate Italian sauce that was the perfect condiment to marry the ingredients successfully together. I wanted another Reuben, since the first one was so good. The sandwiches came with freshly made potato chips, a unique surprise to say the least. Homemade chips? Well, if you were there you would agree that there would be no other substitute. The chef is proudly consistent with everything that is presented. And this is what makes the difference. We received the bill, which seemed miniscule for the quality that Bocci's serves. And the best part of the bill? Homemade chocolate chip cookies!!!!! No cheap mints from Bocci's. Here's the link. You will love this little find of a restaurant: homemade Italian food prepared by a Chef that puts his name on every selection. boccison7th.com

Started with an enjoyable wine, then a delicious mushroom ravioli, and finished with the most exquisitely perfect panna cotta I have ever had. My new favorite italian place in Portland!

This place was a really pleasant surprise. Don't let the area and outside decor fool you, the food here is excellent. And no offense to the owners, the inside is very nice and the outside is clean. I really love places like this - small, comfortable and a great staff. We had lasagna and a baked ziti special that were excellent - they both came in those little ceramic dishes that hold all the flavors together so nicely in the oven. The cheese caramelizes on the edges so nicely that I'm getting hungry again writing about it!

I love the pre-fix on the weekends always very tastey for my adult palette. I want to share that my daughter ordered from the reg. menu and ordered a blue cheese burger, it was the best- even to the last bite. I know because I finished it off. Best burger in Portland by far.I'll be back!! Vinney

Because my husband is such an incredible chef, himself, we're really hard to please when we go out. We tried Bocci's with a Groupon several months ago, and have been back again and again, both alone and taking friends and family with us. The food has always been delicious, and the proprietors are really nice. It's a small, locally owned place with fresh, well-made food. I'm baffled at the negative reviews. Our food has never been anything but wonderful. One of the best marsala sauces we've ever tasted, scrumptuous focacia, and lasagna from heaven, with Italian sausage and a slightly spicy red sauce. (The reviewer who complained about the panna cotta obviously didn't know what to expect. Bocci's panna cotta is yummy!)

My friend and I stumbled upon this gem in SE Portland! The service and the food was great! I am a very picky Italian food snob, but was so impressed by them this is the first review of a restaurant ever for me. Our favorite Italian place that is not too far from Bocci's changed owners a couple months ago and have gone down in service and food so we have been searching for a new place and we have found it!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
