Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Seriously Rocket? THAT'S your pizza? Man, I was NOT impressed. Other customers who have compared the crust to crackers had it spot on. The crust, sauce and cheese were all subpar. The 'extra-large' pizza was the size of your average large. In a city like Portland, there's no excuse for crappy quality food. Never again.

So the only reason I marked this with a three star, is the price. We got a large hawaiian and then a small cheese and an order of wings. That was 37 bucks! I am so use to paying for papa murphys, no more than 20 bucks, so this was a bit much for me. But there are some things I liked. 1. I didnt have to bake it. 2. the crust is sooo yummy! 3. Its not far from my house. I probably wouldnt get pizza here all the time unless there were groupons that I could catch mainly because of the price. The people working there were really nice and helpful.

Ahh! Rocket pizza. I like this place. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is largely a takeaway place, anyway. I order from here at least a few times a year. They are friendly, fast and serve a decent pizza at a good price. They are generous with toppings and have a really good sauce. They also have some great linguica. It is hard to find a pizzeria with that topping. I really want to give it 4 or even 5 stars, but they are inconsistent in several areas. Consistently inconsistent, in fact. 1. The crust over the years has ranged from "awesome" to "meh". Crust is extremely important to the pizza. Take the effort to make it awesome every time. 2. The delivery range changes on a semi regular basis. Sometimes I am in their delivery range. Other times they advise me I am 4 blocks too far. That's frustrating. Even with these niggling points, I still frequent the place on a semi regular basis.

Wow. So much hatin' on Rocket Pizza - and I just came over to say "Bye bye Bella Facia - Hello Rocket." We always get pie to go from Bella Faccia - and it's good and the salads are really good. But recently my husband just did not want to drive and so we ordered delivery pie from Rocket - and it was great - and so now- it's delivery every time. People freaking on the crust - huh? - it's a thin crust that does not flop when you try to lift it or melt into a hot pool of goo only edible via the use of utensils. You can actually PICK UP a slice of Rocket Pizza and eat it. Pizza without a fork - I love that. Crust is crisp, good flavor, with maybe a little char - which btw is very NYC style and fine by me. Sauce, cheese, toppings -all great. Delivery - FAST. Delivery guy - sweet and courteous. Yummy Pizza + Free Fast Delivery by Nice Delivery Guy = 5 Stars.

I order from here all of the time. I have pizza places closer to my house and yeah its more expensive than say Pizza Hut or Dominos (Corporate monsters they buy all their food in bulk) but I have NEVER had a bad experience with them. They are a truly local business that has been there for years and with good reason. They have tasty creative pizzas that are always fresh and besides my niece thinks the delivery guys is hot! I will continue to give them my business as long as they are around.
(5)Ryan W.
Great pizza at a very good price! If you need a great neighborhood pizza and you don't wanna cook, hit this place up. They have a great pick up special. I always liked this place but when we had our current snow storm and the neighborhood were all out enjoying some sledding, Rocket Pizza showed up with free pizza to feed both the parents and kids that were out playing in the snow. Nice work! Way to support local kids! Now locals go out and support this business!
(5)Hanna B.
This is my favorite pizza in the neighborhood, I prefer thinner crusts. I really like their salads too. I've always had pleasant service, I haven't had the same experience as other yelpers. I guess everyone has a bad day now and then.
(4)Don K.
Called to have pizza delivered. Firstly, the girl on the phone answered "hello?" ... I had to verify I dialed correctly. Then she said "um, we are actually closed"... According to yelp they were still open. Lastly, before I could say anything, she said "bye" and hung up. Looking at the reviews, they must have good pizza. But bad service will ruin it everytime. It's pizza... Without at least mediocre service... It's nothing. Pizza is pizza... There are about 20 pizza places around here... Hopefully one of them has good service.

We order from Bob's fairly regularly. We've only had one "bad" pizza. It wasn't cooked through. We tossed it in the oven and it was fine. Other than that, we are very happy with the pizza. This is a small, locally owned joint that is a big part of the community so I would eat here over a chain any day of the week. Their toppings are better, their prices are good and it's super easy to order from their website and schedule delivery.

I love me a thin crust pizza. This is place is average. The crust and sauce are ok. It was the Cheese that had a weird consistency. Not creamy mozzarella. And that makes a pizza. This place is small. 1 table. So don't plan to stay. It's take out. Not good enough for a return visit.
(2)Sean C.
People are right about comparing the crust to crackers. They took a small tasteless dough and tried to make it a large to save money. The cheese and sauce are also tasteless. I do not understand some of the good reviews on here. They must love Tony's 99 cent pizza because that is what it tastes like. Every major pizza chain trumps this place, and there are probably 50 local pizza businesses in Portland that are better.

This place is an institution in inner NE; or at least it was, it was recently taken over by a pair of brothers that have brought it back to its original glory (or so I've been told). I've always thought it was a front for drug running but one crazy night the hubby wanted pizza and we thought we'd give them a try. First off nice people and reasonable prices plus they deliver FREE ~ what you say, free no way. Yes free and friendly shocker i know! Now down to the nitty gritty: garlic chicken pizza yummy yummy yummy! That's right friends it deserves the coveted 3 yummy. Give it a chance I'm sure you'll go back.
(3)Mikaela S.
i ordered the dave again. it came even faster this time and was very fresh and piping hot.
(4)Cindy I.
Wow how does this place get four stars?!?!? I should have paid attention to the person that compared their crust to a saltine crackers. It definitely was thin crispy and flavorless. The toppings were also on the bland side - flavorless sauce and couldn't even taste the cheese. The sausage tastes like breakfast sausage and the mushrooms where kind of on the raw side. They had some toppings called 'gourmet' I think and I noticed one that was listed was 'canned mushrooms' huh? We didn't get that but who puts canned mushrooms on a pizza and calls it gourmet? I am sure they get points from many due to the fact they deliver and not many places seem to do that in Portland but that is about all they have going for them. I had been hoping my husband would have tried them when I was out of town but I'm sorry to say I experienced it all first hand..... never again.
(1)Chris A.
I tried this pizza a couple of years ago and was not impressed. I wasn't feeling well that day so I was willing to try again. -$25 for a large specialty pizza. The large is about the size of a small medium - crust was soggy - veggies on the pizza under cooked - no points for the sauce - shared the large pizza with two other friends, we finished it and were still hungry, but all agreed it was not a good pizza. They seem nice and it might be perfect for other taste buds, but the 3 of us agreed a Safeway pizza is better.
(1)Greg H.
I love this pizza. Bob's combo is what I usually order and it's the best pizza I've had in Portland. The thin crust is what makes the difference in this joint. They seem to take that extra step in their pie making, with the season Italian sausage and the perfect combination of pepper. All this for 22 bucks.... Coming from N.W. Portland, it's well worth the drive and better than anything else on this side of town or city.... Keep up the good job and don't change a thing.
(5)Amanda A.
Ordered a large pepperoni and it was more like a medium size. Crust and sauce were mediocre at best. I am a fan of pizza so it's surprising to me that pizza can taste this bad. I've had frozen pizzas that were comparable to this. And it was not cheap..17 bucks for this was crazy. I would have loved to have had a great experience as this place is right next door to me but we won't be back.
(1)Nate A.
This place is relatively cheap, but the pizza isn't very good. With just a few minor improvements to the crust and ingredients it could be drastically improved. Let's go Bob, I'm rooting for you!
(2)Jason G.
I had some of this last night and it was one of the worst pizzas I have had in recent memory. It was a all meat pizza and the hamburger tasted like it was boiled or something, Absolutely no flavor at all, it was just bad texture balls. The sauce was really sweet, it tastes vaguely like a bad bbq sauce. The crust was ok, a lot of places don't have good crust at all so I don't mind that there isn't much crust there at all. This place doesn't make good pizza, and also isn't very cheap. It's been hard to find good pizza in this town, but this is ridiculous. I wasted like 900 calories on this place. I should have just had a milkshake somewhere and a donut from Annies. My mouth tastes like regrets.

So let me just start off by saying that this was one of "those" places where the staff are kind of like.... wtf? but in like a totes keep portland weird or something way, even though everyone knows that Portland is actually just filled with tech joggers which is comparable in weirdness to pomeranians or whatever. So thir're menu was printed off on an aging piece of parchment jk it was on tattered printer paper, but was way too long vertically which normally I like a lot of length you know, more options. I personally DO NOT EAT MEAT, if you like meat that's your bag not mine so leave it at the door "MEN." So i had to settle for a pizza entitled "The Hipster" which I only ordered because it had carmelized onios which is tight and not meat. While my pizza pie was getting toasty for me I chatted with the two lady employees at length about Courtney Love's concert tomorrow and they were very polite about it. Sometimes you just have to agree to disagree, but then you know shit happens and then my pizza was ready!!!!! The crust was gluten free, I'm not saying anyone has to eat gluten free but it's just my preference when eating out. I was really hungry so I sat at the oddly placed dining table in the corner of their "lobby?" and ate a couple slizes, I really think they incorporated all the falvors into one pizza, it was cool. I would knock a star off my review because of the loud "music" playing/courtney love/ but honestly to each their own and also I think they were listening to ironically and maybe working at Bob's rocket pizza ironically? Oh well what a breath of fresh air compared to my usual tostinos you know.
(5)Alexis B.
Pizza here is gross. Do not order. I ordered from Eat24. The pesto pizza was bland and mushy. How can Pesto be bland? I guess I should ask Mike. The lettuce in the salad was wilted and it cost me $17. Never again.
(1)Bob R.
This is a review by a vegetarian Better than frozen pizza.. I guess. They had my pizza ready on time and with the Restaurant.com certificate it was affordable but it's not very good. It has a very very dense thin crust due to the use of a dough press. Skip
(2)Zarah W.
I've gotten delivery from here twice. Both times, the wait was long. Tonight it took an hour and a half to get two medium pies. The "medium" size were the size of most place's smalls, with the price of most larges. Our BBQ chicken didn't have BBQ sauce. Yes, the toppings are good, but if I wanted to spend $60 and wait an hour and a half, I would have ordered from Delivered Dish.

Terrible Terrible Terrible. I purchased the Groupon special for this place....excited to get my kiddo some pizza & try out a neighborhood joint. Weird dude working the place. Really weird. Started questioning the date on the coupon even though it was in his face today. Then other employee corrected him & then he went on to claim you cant use it to buy a pepperoni pizza...Nothing in the fine print about not being able to use a Groupon for certain pizzas. Plus I find out after contacting Groupon about getting a refund - he had marked it redeemed! Anyways, got home & looked at all the other HORRIBLE reviews that had & felt happy that I didn't waste my money on this local sh*thole.

If I could give this place 10 stars out of five I would. Their crust is the perfect consistency - thin and crispy but not too much so, their sauce is great, and they know how to top a pizza. These guys understand the art of making pizza - the perfect amount of each part to create a perfect whole. The crust is solid enough to hold everything and add the necessary crust texture, but it doesn't crowd the pie. They add the perfect amount of their trademark sauce, then the perfect amount of cheese, then pile the toppings high and cook the pizza to perfection, every time. Their prices are very reasonable. They deliver and do take out. A couple small tables, but definitely not a sit-down joint. I decided to give them a shot after moving to the Concordia neighborhood a few years back and spotting this little hole in the wall down the street from me. I'd lived in Irvington before moving here and I'd tried [and mostly been disappointed by] a fair few of the pizza joints that the east side has to offer. I was instantly blown away by Rocket's pizza and I have yet to find a pizza joint in town that compares. I personally couldn't care less that they deliver - as far as I'm concerned, if I lived in SW and I had a craving for pizza, I'd make my way out here to get the best pizza in town. Put it this way - Hot Lips is a five minute walk from my house and I haven't eaten there in two years. Rocket Pizza is one of those little gems that you really have to dig for in a place like Portland. Now that I've found it, I don't know how I ever got along without it!
(5)Chris S.
Think cracker with cheese on it. Big mistake! Can u say shitty on yelp? I know heartburn is okay to say. No place to sit and eat and the delivery area is limited.
(1)Rich A.
Great little pizza joint. More for take-out than dine-in. Seating for two inside and a few tables outside on sidewalk. Only thin crust (crispy) with generous toppings. This was my first visit and I will definitely go back. I really liked it.
(4)Ryan H.
Let's say you were to fill out an online dating profile for your perfect pizza: About me: I'm high maintenance, hard to please, and I like things my way. I'm very, very punctual and I expect you to be, too. My tastes are pretty traditional but not to say unrefined. I take things seriously. What I'm looking for: Thin, and well dressed in fine materials but not showy. Politeness counts. If you say you'll be there in 30 minutes, you better be there in 30 minutes (if not less). You appreciate a middle class income. Bingo! Rocket Pizza, I don't want to scare you off, but I hear wedding bells.
(5)Brad B.
Great thin crust pizza. Looks and tastes like a real pizza - not a corporate pie. Fast and friendly too.
(4)Mike H.
Just stoped in yesterday and some great tasty pizza. 1/2 Chicken with a white sauce and the other Pepperoni and chese will go back again for more and prices seemed reasonable.
(5)jennifer a.
I was a little worried about ordering a pizza at 9 pm from a shop that closes at 9 30, but with a hungry husband on the way home from work and no desire to cook more food I did... Everything was great, dude on the phone, delivery driver, and most of all the PIZZA!!! Yum! BBQ chicken, your my only friend
(5)George D.
I've been buying here since I was a kid. The pizza hasn't changed a bit and still tastes delicious. The only thing that has changed is the price. It's a little steep in some cases (When I firsts started going there a large 1-topping was $9.20. . .in 1995). If the price was a bit lower it would have gotten 5 stars. They specialize in thin and crispy crust. Since most places are getting thicker and greasier this place is awesome. The crust is awesome both fresh and in "mature" form. It's a great pizza and a great local retailer. Instead of going with other, national chains for your next pie give these guys a try. My taste buds would not lie to you. Just look for the upside-down pizza sign and 42nd and you'll be happy that you stopped!
(4)Ryan P.
Moved a few blocks down from this pizza place about 2 months ago, but hadn't tried it until last night. I'm fairly "experienced" when it comes to pizza, and I know what I like, and I was NOT disappointed with Rocket's. Great crust, amazing sauce, tons of toppings! Will definitely become one of my regular dinner spots.
(5)Sammy L.
Little pizza place tries harder and they did! EXCELLENT PIZZA! Fresh ingredients, had the combo. Will go back! One table with 2 chairs so mainly a take-out place but we ate there for lunch because the table was available. So plan on taking it home or have delivered.
(5)Andy U.
Although Rocket's pizza is pretty solid, I just had a very bad and frustrating experience in trying to order a pizza for delivery. Rocket has delivered to my current address on numerous occasions in the last 6 months (e.g. about 10 days ago). However, the order guy I just spoke with from Rocket said my address is outside of their delivery area. Finally, after telling the guy that it hasn't been an issue in the past (and after a bit of odd hemming and hawing on his end), he tells me they'll make the delivery...for an extra $6. Can you say "rip-off?" Congrats Rocket: you just lost yourself at least two faithful customers. No more "Ed's Malarkey" for us...
(1)Amelia V.
We ordered pizzas from Rocket Pizza for our kindergartner's class party and the kids loved it. Better yet, the Moms and teachers loved it too. We are big fans now. Yum.
(4)Ginger C.
With the plethora of pizza places in NE Portland, it can be hard to decide which one to call, let alone which is better than the others. True to its name, Rocket is fast, and has the best cracker crust. Despite being wicked busy, the staff was friendly and our pizza came out of the oven as we walked in the door. We had pepperoni-mushroom and it was a hit. The kids said "Rocket is officially on our list!". My only mistake was getting a medium, not a large, given the hearty appetites in the house. We'll definitely go back. We prefer to patronize local businesses (and stand alones rank higher than local chains, sorry Sparky's). The quality and great service gives Rocket and edge over the many other pizza places in the neighborhood.
(4)Carol C.
wow. what a major letdown. this has to be one of the worst pies I've ever had. we had it delivered, so when I opened the box I was sorely disappointed. I've had thin crust pizza before but this just looked thin. the crust was wimpy and reminded me a lot of saltine crackers. bland and papery. they barely sprinkled any mozzarella on the pie and somewhere between the bits of cheese I think I saw some sauce. but that could've been my eyes fooling me. the sausage I ordered was bland and hardly resembled anything like sausage. it made of me think of those "not sausages" in the vegetarian aisle. not cool. I've heard the rumor that it's hard to find a great pizza in this town and I now see it's the truth. rocket makes me homesick for the better pies I Ieft in San Francisco. No thanks Rocket. Think I'm gonna stick to making my own from now on. It will be cheaper and way tastier.
(1)rex t.
Good, reasonably priced, local pizza. I was surprised at the amount of toppings on the pizza. The peperoni is tasty and the Hawaiian is kid approved. The people inside truly are friendly.
(4)Kit W.
I had heard of this place from someone who stopped into the studio one day. I had mentioned that I hadn't found 'good' pizza since moving here. He highly recommended Rocket pizza. One day while out with my family we decided to find the place and give it a shot. This is a more take out place. Inside they had 1 table and we had to move a chair from outside. We ordered bread sticks and 2 medium pizzas. They use some sort of seasoning that I have never had on pizza/bread sticks before. I'm not sure if I cared for it on the bread sticks. The pizza was tasty and everyone liked what they had. I would eat it again but a bit of drive from where I live. The people behind the counter were very friendly and helpful with ordering.
(3)David W.
Not sure how this place is 4 stars unless PDX people really don't have anything good to compare it to? We decided to give it a shot and it really was quite horrid. Crust was like what Cindy referred to as saltine crackers. It appeared to have no sauce or cheese for that matter. Toppings tasted gross. Pizza can be so much better, my hometown of Chicago makes me proud in this regard. Avoid this place like you would avoid a soiled diaper.
(1)Lauren T.
The pizza is good. Piled high of delicious toppings, almost too many toppings for my liking; however, you can tell a lot of love went into that pizza. They were fresh and tasty. And the break sticks were yummy. Melted gooey cheese all over with a side of ranch and marinara. The staff is awesome. I called, never having their pizza before and the staff was super helpful. No getting put on hold or rushed. It was at my house quick and super hot. The driver was so nice and I felt as if they appreciated me being their customer. Equalling a five in my book
(5)Chad R.
The thing about pizza... We have five different pizza joints that we get pizza from. Each and every one of them offers a completely different style of pie. Their crusts are different, their toppings different and the places they serve out of different as well. Some days, Rocket Pizza is better than the other four choices. On those days, I look forward to Rocket's thinner, crispier crust. Their overall quality is probably a notch down from our other favs, but this pie brings back memories of eating at Pietros Pizza when I was a kid. Their cheese sticks don't pull apart very well, but in the land of cheese sticks, that's a good sign! Cheese in abundance! If you're already home and you want some pie without the effort of leaving the house to acquire, give Rocket Pizza a shot since they do delivery...and promptly.
(4)Eye U.
This is some tasty pizza. If you're looking for the following, you probably won't like Rocket Pizza: Artisan pizza, NY style pizza, Chicago style pizza, or if you call pizza "pie." Pizza is not pie. This is I'm hungry, and I want a good combination of tasty stuff. We had the Vegetarian medium and it was more than enough for two. Cant comment on the meat yet, as I have not tried, but the veggie option was on point. Reminds me a lot of Zig Zag Pizza in Zig Zag Oregon, a childhood favorite. I like all types of pizza, and this is some scarf down American flavor. My only complaint is the size and pricing, but not that bad really. It's got a homemade edge to it. Nuff said. -Isaiah
