Decent place. Their food is good enough and their prices are very good. The dining room is not all that great - but the staff has always been friendly. If you're in the area and need a taco - these guys are OK and a good value.

Love this place for a quick delicious meal. The service is so friendly and the menu has lots of choices. Don't pass up the tamales-- they are some of the best in town!

This place is far from authentic mexican food. The food was absolutely AWFUL. I ordered their chicken taco salad and 2 pork tacos. The tacos looked ok until you bite into one and realize there is hardly any flavor at all. The meat they used in both items is very processed and is disgusting, the cheese is out of a bag of pre shredded cheese and everything else inside looked as though it came out of a can or bag of something. Nothing fresh, or that even remotely resembles what I call mexican. If I were the business owner I'd rethink their penny pinching ingredient list and try using real meat, fresh ingredients, and a few mexican spices. It may cost you more but you'd have some regular customers who'd help offset the cost of doing business correctly.

The food had very little flavor, my burrito was mostly beans, and why in the world would you put iceberg lettuce into a hot burrito? Not worth it. There are a lot of Mexican places in the area that are better. Perhaps the Sunday taco sale brings in the customers? Not sure....

Wow this place was not good at all my advice chipotle is better that's fresh it was disgusting I got frozen salsa with old rice or something tasteless the worst inhave had .......... I'm sorry but I love giving business to locals .......but when the food is as disgusting as this one I can't help it but to put my opinion online .....

As someone who has been coming to Bandito Taco since the 90's I can confirm that the food here is delicious, and truly made fresh to order. Their homemade chunky salsa is my family's all time favorite and it tastes great with everything. The only issue I have is how long it usually takes me to decide what to order with all the possible options. And for the record, the owners are 2 of the nicest people, they always go above and beyond to cater to their customer's needs from what I've seen these past 15 years.

Love this local joint for a quick bite. Very accommodating to any special requests. Simple, basic, quick.

Glorified Taco Bell. I mean I'll eat it...but wasn't that great. The salsa was pretty good...but the rest of it was meh. Burritos run small, they over charge for "authentic taco"...but when it comes to the $.59 crunchy taco Sunday you can't beat the price.

Can I give no stars? Just don't go here. HORRIBLE! Everything made here is either from a can or frozen. If I'm eating out its a treat for me and my family so I want to eat somewhere decent at least. This place is really bad. I would much rather eat at Taco Bell. Oh and there was a really big seed the size of a nickel in my husband burrito. Wtf?! How is this place still open?!

  • Ron S.

What did I just buy? These aren't even tacos...they are just meat on a flour tortilla. Canned beans, rice from a box, and flavorless food. How is this even close to Mexican food? This is isn't even Tex Mex, this place SUCKS. I can't believe that Taco Bell is more authentic than this dump. Jesus Christ. How dare you even charge $2.50 for these tacos? They are garbage. I never thought I could get this pissed at a restaurant.

First time being here and I'm satisfied. I've been over to the mazatlan across the street and this is 50x better. I keep it simple with the hard tacos but gosh they are addicting!! I'd recommend to check this place out, it's a great little restaurant. They are passionate about the homemade salsa too, which is delicious so try it when you come. Just because the guy isn't dumping money into decorations isn't a reason to give a 1 star rating people. Overall GREAT!

I would like to recommend Ahmad, his staff, and Bandito Taco for any catering or culinary needs you may have. We worked with Bandito Taco and Ahmad for our wedding last year and I cannot say enough about the overall quality food, attention to detail, customer service... you name it THEY ARE AMAZING!!! Customer Service: Since the first time my wife and I met with Ahmad and his staff we felt like every one of our needs / requests would be met and then some. He is extremely friendly, welcoming, professional, and experienced! He worked with us to create a menu to our liking, that met our budget, and that he guaranteed would blow everyone away (which it did! More to come on that as well!). Any business owner should take tips from Ahmad and Bandito Taco on how to treat customers, meet their client's needs / expectations (exceed them), and always make their client comfortable - 10 out of 10! Affordability: Before I could even discuss budget; Ahmad was right there to reassure me we would be taken care of. Knowing that we were a young couple and not millionaires; he worked diligently with us to make a menu for our budget! In addition, he found ways to work on the menu to provide the greatest amount of food for the best price - including a late night happy hour of enchiladas and other food (which was a huge hit, and I still have people bring it up to me almost a year later!). I will always be grateful for his time, effort, and patience in helping up have such amazing food for our wedding at a very reasonable cost. This took so much stress off our wedding, it will always be appreciated. Quality Product: I can guarantee this; no one left our wedding hungry!!! From the chips and salsa bar, to the large buffet (meats, grilled veggies, tacos, burritos, tacos salads, cheeses, toppings, and more), and on to the late night menu which included both chicken and cheese enchiladas; the food was amazing! I am literally getting hungry thinking about it right now. I can remember the abundant amount of compliments we received that night and to this day about the impressive quality of food at our wedding. This is even more impressive considering it was almost a 200 person event! We have also been able to eat a his restaurant in Beaverton, OR and the quality of food never slips; Bandito Taco produces excellent food every time around, even for 200 people at once! I cannot say enough about the quality, professionalism, fantastic product, and over all amazing experience we had with Ahmad and Bandito Taco! I highly highly recommend them to anyone and would be more than happy to answer any questions or concerns future clients / customers might have. You cannot go wrong with Bandito Taco and will be so very thankful you did! Thank you again Ahmad and you fantastic team! Tyler & Vanessa Monzie

No, no no no no no - NO!!!! So we're broke, and by we I mean my lil family of four, but payday is coming up soon so we decide to treat ourselves to some Mexican food. Not to be racist but the first thing I look for when going into a Mexican food establishment is if there is any Mexican cooks, that's a negative. But I decide to give them the benefit of the doubt. Big mistake, there taco shells are store bought, there rolled tacos are frozen delimex type and there beans are from a can devoid of taste. I mean when I go to a restaurant I want food I can't cook at home, not store bought frozen food where I could have used my $25 spent at the store and all that food could have last me over a week and not just one sitting. In conclusion unless you like that cheap imitation "High End Taco Bell" style of Mexican food, and I know there are people out there that do, do not waste you hard earned money here. Instead go down to your local Walmart and purchase your delimex cuisine there.

Not a bad place for a quick bite to eat. We hadn't eaten all day and wanted something quick. I got the 4 taquitos (half chicken and half beef) with beans and rice while my fiancée got a chicken sun bowl type thing. Overall, not too bad. Obviously there are better places to go but the food isn't all that bad. I'd say give it a try, everyone has different tastes and opinions.

Don't mind the bad reviews... Just moved into the area and of all the Mexican places around here, this one takes the cake! Their food is affordable and delicious! I love their authentic tacos and their homemade salsa is just mmmmm-mm-mmmm!! Yeah the decor and space is not grand, however this family owned business is great and worth the visit! We will certainly be back many many more times!

This was my first time in, but I have been driving by this place for over 20 years. My first impression when I walked in was it was kind of overwhelming and had too much going on in there with specials everywhere. It was a lot to take in. So I ordered a taco salad with fish instead of meat. The price wasn't bad, but what do you expect from cheap ingredients and you would think by now they would've read some of these reviews and took it to heart and corrected some of these problems. I mean 24 years they should have it down to a tee by now. I can see where people said everything comes from a can, my dish looked similar and the taste wasn't memorable at all. No wow factor here. This place definitely needs "Restaurant Impossible". First off finding a good chef without spending a lot like $12 or 14 an hour isn't all that hard especially when you have good food that people will come back for. You can raise your prices because people will continue to come back and the last thing they'll complain about is prices when it comes to good authentic food. Trust me! Your a restaurant owner, your food should be the focal point that's why your in busniess in the first place isn't it? The place itself is outdated... The dining area is awkward, only 3 tables in the whole place. My advise is spend a little money and removed that fake fireplace and that bar by the window And add two more tables, by doing that it gives you another 8 seats another 8 customers that could sit down. Right now it's a waste of good space as I see it. I also see another waste in here, using styrofoam for those eating there and not using dishes and washing them. I hate waste, we have enough garbage in this world. And it's a waste of money too. Cutting back on trash and buying unnecessary utensils and reusing dishes will save you a ton of money and if you had a cook in a place this small he can do dishes too. I promise you these small changes will bring in a lot more business, I know... I had my own place for several years and was in a similar situation, but once I made the changes I was so busy and packed constantly. And my reviews were great.

They have the cheapest ingredients ever and everything is canned and gross. Pretty gross. Taco Bell is a million times better. Peek in the kitchen and you will see tons of cans of all their foods. The worst thing is the food is awful tasting. Head anywhere else.

My coworkers and I came here for lunch because our regular Mexican place was closed for renovations. The interior was smaller than I expected. You had to order up front. The owner came out to greet us. At least I think it was the owner. Behind the counter, things seemed a little disorganized. The cashier seemed frazzled. The wait was long and we were on a time crunch. When it did arrive, it was a little lackluster for me. The rice was hard and the tamale was dry. Despite this first experience, I'm willing to give this place another try.

In the crowded field of Mexican fast food Bandito Taco is a restaurant that truly distinguishes itself. Bandito Taco has been in business with the same owner since 1990. Other restaurants have fallen but Bandito Taco is left standing. And for good reason! Bandito Taco is a small restaurant with limited seating. They do a great business in take out. However, the interior is bright and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Food service is quick. Tacos start out at $1. Most menu items are around $5 and top off at about $7. Among the menu items are tacos (of course!), tamales, chile relleno, burritos, enchiladas, nachos, tostadas, and quesadillas. "Specialties" are offered like Chicken Fajita, Taco Salad, Taco Pizza, Taco Burger, and soups. On my visit I sampled a combination that entitled me to three entrees. My combination cost $9.75 and included rice, beans, salsa, and chips. For my three entrees I chose a taco, a burrito, and a tostada. The tortillas were not homemade but the meats were well seasoned and delicious. Bandito Taco can serve you an outstanding tostada that doesn't fall to pieces. The rice, beans, and salsa were all above average. Does Bandito Taco serve up authentic Mexican food? Well, I'm not going to go there. I'll let the diner decide that for him or herself. What Bandito Taco can do is serve you up a quick, tasty, and inexpensive Mexican meal with the satisfaction of supporting a local business. It's a feeling you can never get from a corporate fast food operation.

My attempt at being spontaneous recently led to an ill-fated run-in with Bandito Taco, which turned out to be a reminder that spontaneity leads to me hating my life. After circling my wagon and shooting their guns in the air a few times, los banditos stole my burro and left me sitting in a dingy, depressing hole in the wall with a pile of sloppy nachos and a tall glass of regret and watered-down pepsi.

The owner needs to learn and understand about food allergy and the deadly reaction it will impact on a person. I came in with my daughter who is very allergic to dairy and told them up front that she is allergic to cheese and I requested the owner to wash her hands since she just made some tacos and was handling cheese. She refused to wash her hands and she put on gloves. I saw her touched the cheese again since she was in front of me so I asked her to change her gloves . I told her that I am sorry you have to change your gloves again then she said you should be sorry!! I got upset with her attitude and told them I would like to cancel my order and asked for my $ 2.36 back. She washed her hands and started yelling at me that I wasted her time. They were not busy at the time. There were 2 people in front of me. I told her that it's just not worth getting 59 cent taco and risk getting an allergic reaction and have to send my daughter to the ER. She kicked us out. I would like to support small bussinesses but Taco bell never gave me griefs. She was very disrespectful. Not even worth one star but I had to put one in order to post this.

The lack of consistency at Bandito Taco is a huge problem. When our family goes there---4 of us order off the menu---our youngest has a preference for his own concoction. They are always willing to make her 'custom' meal but it's a different price every single time. The women that work there are often, curt and rude. The restaurant is clean but the ladies that work there go from handling money to preparing food. No gloves, no handwashing basin. I think the owner has poor judgement when it comes to selecting staff. Last-We have a couple kids at Sunset. This restauarnt is a great supporter of the school/teams/events. They could be a 5 star if a couple small things could be managed better.

Not bad, not great....but one heck of a deal especially on Sundays! .55 cent tacos and bean burritos!! The staff and the guy that owns is are super nice. He loves bringing out his homemade salsa to you. It is quite tasty. Overall the taste and prices are ok. Not super flavorful, but thankful that it's not a bunch of greasy food mess. The tacos are great, burritos ok, taco salads are alright. If you're looking for somewhere quick to stop this would be the place! Overall: Go for the tacos and salsa, you can't miss especially during their weekday specials. If you're getting a buritto get lots of toppings or go for the combo plates

A friend invited me to lunch and Bandito Taco is close to his house. I had never been there before, so I was agreeable. I ordered the chile relleno. It was pretty bland. This place was called Bandito Taco...so I suppose I should have ordered tacos! It wasn't bad, but I don't think I will be back.

  • Noel C.

Don't bother. Your disappointment will continue from the moment of the first bite. Cold store bought chips, beans and tortillas. Horrible salsa. The worst attempt at an enchilada I have ever seen. I wish I could have a do over. It was literally the WORST food I have ever ate.

    (1)
  • Bill S.

First thing you need to know about this place is that it serves a healthier Mexican style food. So with the reviews on here stating that the food is bland, well yes, it's not loaded with fat so there is a bit less flavor. However they use fresh ingredients and make their own salsa. I eat out quite often so I'll only frequent places nearby thay won't clog my veins on a regular basis.

  • Jonathan M.

This is a great little family run restaurant. Healthier option then your fast food at a still economical price. I really enjoy the Big & Saucy Burrito or the kids like the bandito nachos along with the Sunday special tacos. Feel free to ask for some jalapeños which they can give you if you want some more spice.

  • Janet S.

Let's talk about the good stuff first: *Good and friendly service. *Yummy salsas. Now let's talk about the bad: *What? You don't make your own chips? *Spicy doesn't exist in this restaurant. Jalapenos tasted like-oh wait, they didn't have any flavor and it wasn't even spicy. *What the hell is lettuce doing in my burrito? Give me my beans, rice, and meat. Thank you. Seriously, my burrito is not a salad. *Where is the salsa that was suppose to be in the burrito? I saw about 1 tbsp of chopped tomatoes and onions, but that's about it. *The beef had no flavor. It is starting to remind me of that one Super Burrito place (that also sucked). *$7 for a burrito are you crazy? I'm moving back to San Francisco. $5 burritos where you at? *Learn how to wrap a burrito. Please. I would teach you, but I only know how to wrap eggrolls. Not going back. Bye!

Don't you just love walking in to an "authentic" Mexican joint to find a bright-blonde haired white girl at the counter? Call me a racist, pero si la persona que esta preparando la comida no habla espanol, o sea, si el unico Mexicano alli no quiere hablar espanol, something is wrongo. Service sucko-ed. And so did the foodo.

If you are in the mood for microwaved food but just too lazy to do it yourself Bandito's is the place to go. I watched as the taquitos were microwaved. Their fish tacos consisted of half a fish stick. We spent way too much for canned refried beans.

    (1)
  • Amy B.

It's all about the tacos and the homemade salsa! The fish tacos are AMAZING and they make them fresh for you. It takes awhile, but it's worth the wait. Service is fabulous, and the salsa is really fresh and delicious. I go there just to buy the salsa sometimes. A good lunch place!

Medicore Mexican food at best. Dropped my car off for an oil change so I walked to Bandito's for some tacos and chip n salsa. Bad move. The taco's were flavorless cardboard tasting. Rice and beans were old and gross. I think I was better off going to taco bell. There are a shit load of other Mexican joints near by. Don't waste your time here.

1 word: mmmmmmmm This family owned restaurant is cozy inside and has great food. The waitstaff is always extremely polite and prompt. Sunday is officially Bandito Taco day at my house -- 55 cent tacos all day on Sunday! I also highly recommend the Bandito Burrito - delicious.

Yuck. I should have known better when I saw the cans of Rosarita on the shelves behind the teenage girl working at the counter. This place's food is just way too plain and boring. Skip it.

I've always come here for the tacos--and I will keep it that way, as the fresh tacos are always good and a million times better than dElTacoBell type stuff. The atmosphere is nice, with a fountain on the counter, and outdoor seating if you like. There are cool-looking lemonade and water containers, as well as a soda fountain. As for the food, the tacos are as good as always; the enorme taco is pretty good, coming with all the toppings. I'd like to try something bigger on the menu to curb my appetite, as the three things I got just didn't fill the void after spending $10. The nachos are subpar in my opinion, with this weird cheese sauce that reminds me of Easy Cheese (owner: please DITCH the Easy Cheese; it hasn't been cool since 1985), though the large chunks of chicken are great. Some shredded REAL cheese would have sufficed for this simple $5 nacho. The bean burrito special is really hardly worth mentioning since you'd have to buy a dozen of them to fill up with; on monday they're .$75, but nothing more than a tortilla with a spoonful of beans and onion--barely worth $.75 (not even sure what they cost the rest of the week, but I won't be buying any of them in future anyway); maybe if they were like a half-lb burrito, I'd try one for $.75; maybe add cheese or meat for a few cents? I thought the salsa was great and ate a cup of it with the "bean burrito". I may try a larger menu item with small expectations, as I get the feeling most of the stuff came out of a bag or can.

  • Tiffany T.

I think Tacos and salsa may be this places best feature. Every time my husband and I go there he orders extra lettuce and no green onions. They get it wrong every time!!! We asked 3 times now and they still aren't listening. Also the chicken tortilla soup was like cafeteria food chicken chili. Haven't had something that bad since high school. And were the heck were the tortillas? The shine is off this apple.

    (2)
  • Misty B.

Alright. It's not excellent, but it's not terrible either. I do like their regular crunchy tacos. They're like Taco Bell's, but with real meat. The burritos aren't the best I've had. The nachos are ok. The food is pretty bland though. I wish they'd use more spices.

Looking for lunch on Sunday? Why don't you try what I've done for basically ever Sunday for the last year.....get yourself between 4-6 delicious tacos for $.55 a piece (Mon-Sat $.95). Bandito Taco is a veritable institution in Cedar Mill. It has been in the same corner slot in the Sunset Mall for over 18 years. It has an amazingly loyal clientele, including yours truly. Off the Murray exit on 26 north to Cornell, left on Cornell, and it will be on your 2nd entrance on the right....in the same parking-lot as Sherries and Dollar Tree/Store. I say Go for the Tacos and Stay for the Salsa. I cannot advocate many of their dishes other than the staples. When I detract from their standard crunchy tacos, or their veggie burritos, or Bandito burritos, I tend to be disappointed. However, their Tacos are truly amazing, and consistent. Their fresh salsa is extremely fresh and flavorful; with a heavy dose of cilantro and onion, with just the right amount of spice. Combine the two (Taco+Salsa) and you have, what I consider, a masterpiece, worthy of dedicating my every Sunday lunch to its gastronomical prowess. (I use 1 salsa to every 3 tacos, my normal lunch is 6 tacos, which sounds like a lot, but I would say is a good amount for any grown male) 5/5 for the tacos and everything basic on the menu. 4/5 for the rest...

Honestly, this was some of the worst mexican food i have ever had. I'm from the bay area in CA so I'm used to hole in the wall taqueria's being amazing. I COULDNT EVEN FINISH MY MEAL IT WAS THAT BAD, and that says allot because I love food. Their "salsa" was gross, the meat tasted like plastic and even the chicken didnt taste like chicken. The workers were really nice but, yeah obviously this neighborhood dosent know authentic mexican food.

Is it just the high school keeping your restaurant open? Ha! I played a trick on my wife and told her to "Try the guacamole!" ..then laughed my butt off as she ran to the kitchen to spit it out into the trash can! She had to wash out her mouth too. (true story) Seriously, I would challenge the owner to try to choke down a side of his guacamole. Homemade salsa? I'm pretty sure this is cheap canned salsa with chopped green onion and cilantro added to make it look fresh. Santitas brand chips? Also, you know there are restaurant size 12" tortillas available for the $9 grande burrito instead of trying to use three 8 inch. And you could you warm or steam the tortillas before wrapping the burritos? I like a little veggies and maybe sour cream in my "get the most expensive burrito they have" order. There was less than a tablespoon of lettuce, tomato, or onion in the supposedly 2lb burrito. The chicken was flavorless. The side of Bandito rice is white rice with some green onion garnish. I was trying to to avoid a chain restaurant and support local privately owned, but if you care this little about food, your shouldn't own a restaurant. Next time, I listen to my wife and buy Baja Fresh. More food for less money.

cheap great eats! i've been returning to Bandito Taco since graduating from sunset class of 97', that says a lot about the food. i live in san francisco where mexican food is abundant and superb. well, nothing beats a cheap taco that is tasty. so that means nothing beats a tasty Bandito Taco!

The Mexican food is above average for this area. The pork is good. Much better than any of the other Mexican food places I've been to in this area. What makes the place better than average is the service is great. They opened the doors for us and we arrived at closing. Reopened the kitchen and whipped us up something to eat. Kind find that type of service at other places. They been in business for over 18 years so that says something about the place. I would recommend going it you want good Mexican food.

    (4)
  • Lindsay L.

Their homemade salsa gets 4 stars but their food only gets 2 stars. Go on Sunday for 50 cent tacos and tons of salsa. You don't be disappointed.

  • Shawn O.

We used to come here for lunch quite often as a coworker of mine at the time knows the owner. The food is fantastic & inexpensive, and the service is par or better every time I come in. They do catering and I've had the good fortune to experience their food at a catered event. The one hangup I have about the place is the seating. I can't sit in those hard, McDonald's-style seats for more than a minute or two without feeling totally uncomfortable. In fact just the thought of going there and sitting down to eat makes me cringe. Unfortunately for them they are right across the street from a decent Mazatlan place. That establishment better caters to a sit-down crowd. Bandito Taco is a "get in, get out" kind of place and should be seen as such. Even the outdoor seating makes you want to stand up instead to munch on your massive burrito. Definitely check the place out. But get it to go.

Food depends on the order taker (who also usually prepares the food) some of the girls really SKIMP and use the velveta creamed cheese. Movie Theatre Cheese? However, when they prepare their goodies using the shredded cheese, ALL THE ENTREES are a hit with me and my friends! Bandito Chile Rellenos are really my favorite and I'm a Rellano freak.

The place is charming and the workers are nice, but the food is just not up to par. I have had plenty of great, quality, authentic Mexican food and this was definitely not it. I'm sad because I had high hopes since it is just around the corner from my house.

the good: cheap, open on Sunday the bad: tastes like church food. no personality, minimal flavor this is "Mexican" food done Ala suburbia. like 1970's suburbia. i had a beef burrito, and my dad had a chicken burrito, and honestly it was so boring tasting.. its a sad day when the chain Mexican places have better salsa than an independent shop. my dad and i agreed "should have gone to baja fresh".. the decor screamed 'mas authentico' but the taste and ingredients were muy tener sueño the service was good, and the girls behind the counter we super friendly. one extra star for that. if i was starving, and had to feed a baseball team of teenagers i'd go here. otherwise, i'd rather eat at home.

    (2)

I love the 55 cent tacos on Sundays. I will buy ten a a time. I haven't tried anything else on the menu, but the people are nice and the menu affordable!

I checked this place out again this time ordering something different. I ordered a chicken fajita burrito and a chicken tamale. The tamale was good, but the burrito was small and the chicken was ok (also they put beans in the burrito) certainly not as good as some of the taqueria's. The service was good and the counter staff very friendly. I thought the beef burrito last time was better than the chicken.

  • R T.

Better than the local competition, which consists of bad to worse mexican atrocities. If your dying for a taco with mild salsas you're in luck. Looking for mexican flavors with and attitude, no chance.

Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
