Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Last night I had a I-just-finished-my-beer-at-this-pub-and-I-really-want-a-slice-of-pizza-RIGHT-NOW moment and all I could think about was going to Atomic Pizza. I ended up getting pizza by the slice so it wasn't as fresh as the hot slice I had once at the Hollywood Theatre. (I guess they have a cool tunnel that ends at a little station in the theater where they can transport pizza to movie goers) Anyway, it wasn't as spectacular as I remembered, but it still hit the spot and I know a fresh ordered pizza would have been even better. I love New York style. Also, their crust is great. Atmosphere is exactly what you would expect for a small pizza place: simple tables, a soda machine, a few beers on tap and ice cream. (Including Ruby Jewel ice cream sandwiches. Score!) The perfect solution for dinner when you're buzzed and need a delicious, no frills, slightly greasy slice.

Why can't the iconic Hollywood Theater partner with a notable pizzeria? They do so with Salt and Straw for sweets. In all my years in Portland I've never heard anyone reference Atomic Pizza on the topic of "best pizza." Crust is the only thing they saves it; just a low to mid grade offering.

There's pizza and then there's....Pizza. This is the former. It's a slice of pizza that is not memorable. The crust, I will admit was good, but then everything drops off from there. Great pizza, is a slice you want to go back to and have again. A place you'd recommend to others. I have three go to places that I tell people about all the time and I enjoy going back to, or I really want to go back to but haven't had the time. Atomic is a decent slice, but nothing I need to go out of my way for. The cheese was a bit bland and so was the sauce. They both needed salt. A simple ingredient that made my pizza taste better. I got a slice of pepperoni that was ok, but the pepperoni needed more flavor and spice to it. I also got a slice of the day that was four cheese and garlic. But I tasted no garlic. I smelled it, just couldn't find it. Underwhelming. It is what it is, not all pizza is created equal. I realize I have some high standards, but I will keep plugging along this town to find good New York/ New Jersey style pizza.

I recently moved into the Hollywood District and was dismayed to learn of the absence of good pizza in our neighborhood. Enter Atomic pizza just last month and I am delighted. Great staff, GREAT FOOD, and the ability to buy slices, which is perfect for a quick lunch. The owners are so friendly and I hope that families and singletons alike will make this the go-to place in our area for pizza. May it be a neighborhood presence for decades to come! Family friendly as well!

The pizza was of decent quality. Normally thin crust isn't my thing but at least it was substantial. The slice was big but a little overpriced. There was a gross amount of grease but nothing a couple napkins can't handle. Their beer selection is weak and that is why another star was removed.

I have been going to their first shop in N Portland since it opened and love the pizza and the selection of beers they rotate. The Hollywood shop is a bit of a hike, but the pizza is even better and there are more beers to choose from too. I'll probably go to the N Portland location more but when the weather's amenable for a longer ride, I'm definitely heading to Atomic Hollywood too.

Yum! This place is possibly my new favorite for grabbing a pie for take home. The pizza is super flavorful and the crust is excellent.

Nice, simple, and quick. If you want a good slice of pizza, this is the place to go. It's also right next to the Hollywood movie theatre, so it's a great place to hang before, and after, a movie.

"The first time I came here," you attempt to explain while shoveling another slice into your mouth, "I was really hungry." "Mmhmm," empathizes your friend, engaged in a similar activity. "And -" swallow. sip of coke. "it was good, but I didn't know, if, you know," another bite. chew, chew, chew. swallow. sip of coke. "If it was just good because I was starving, you know, or if - " chew chew. swallow. "it was *actually* good." "Mmhmm," they grunt, encouragingly. "But I came back a few more times - " grease dribbling down your chin. shit. napkin... napkin. wipe mouth. continue eagerly, "And it turns out, it's actually good." "Mm*HMM*," your friend emphatically agrees. "'cause, you know, it's next to a theatre - " oh god, hot pepper in the back of your throat. don't cough, don't cough, eyes watering. more coke. swallow. belch. whew. "and the Hollywood serves Atomic pizza, so you think, well, it kind of has a captive audience, so - " another bite. " - it doesn't really have to be the best." "Mmhmm." "But - " running out of breath again. swallow. desperate mouthful of coke. deep breath through nose. Ahhhh. "but it's actually really good. The crust is like - kinda on the bland side but perfectly cooked. And the toppings are all in just the right balance. Sauce is so well seasoned." "Mmhmm," your friend enthuses, licking said sauce off their lips. "So yeah. Anyway. Shit." You scrub your face with a napkin, and sit back, satiated, and say with a sigh, "we should probably come back here again." With a gulp, they finally clear their mouth, and follow your lead, leaning back and relaxing. "Ahh. Yeah. Too bad they don't deliver, huh?" You shake your head. "Not like it's that far to pick it up. This is really surprisingly decent pizza." It really is.

You'll get a thick crust pizza here. I prefer a thinner dough. I also wasn't impressed by the pepperoni.

I live in Hollywood and it is great to have a o to pizza place so close. The pizza and sandwiches are good and they have decent beers on tap. But better than all that is they have the best CUSTOMER SERVICE around. They get it right so I will keep supporting them. Way to go!!

I eat here for lunch every now and then. Pizza is average. Place is clean and friendly. They have a punch card so you can earn free slices.

Nice service and a decent beer selection Pizza was good, but nothing special. Convenient to TriMet Trains in the Hollywood district.

Casual location with friendly staff. Great pizza and mellow scene. Thy sell pizza by the slice so it makes for a nice quick dinner.

It's not just the pizza, which is out of this world. It's not just the view, which lends a window to the wacky world of Sandy Blvd. It's the service, which was fast and accurate and spearheaded by Jenna, just as lovely a hostess as we have encountered in a long time! She's dandy! We can't wait to go back, and tonight may very well be the night. A truly wonderful experience. Thanks to all for their efforts!

I don't know if I can write this review without walking out the door to go get a slice. You know what that is going to happen. So I better spit it out before I leave... This is thin crust pizza where they make their own dough (at least that is what the owner told me!) For lunch there are usually a number of slice selections for no more than 3.95. But nothing says love like a warm pizza box filled with a whole pie. The staff is always friendly and are brand ambassadors of the pizza and the local ice cream offered. yeah...I gotta go get some now..........

I come here for lunch quite often, but I can only give it 3 stars because its just kind of bla....their lunch special with a slice, salad and 16oz drink is a good deal which is really what keeps me coming back(their Greek dressing is the bomb too) But the customer service seems to be lacking a bit. There was one gal who I ordered from EVERY time I went in, and I ordered the same thing - EVERY time I went in, but she never remembered me. OK, fine, you might not remember my order, or name or anything- but you've GOT to recognize me so smile like you do or give me a head nod at least. I feel like this place could be really cool if the people that worked there acted like they enjoyed serving the people that come in. (even if they don't) so--- 3 stars it is even though the pizza and salads are probably a 4.

I've lived in the Hollywood District for a few years now and pizza was something this neighborhood was lacking on a very serious level. So I was ecstatic when I heard Atomic Pizza was moving in next door to the Hollywood Theatre. The place is sleek and clean, but also very welcoming with warm wood tones. There's a TV for the sports fans, but you can also sit and gaze out the window onto Sandy. The seating is set up great too, because it can accommodate all sorts of group sizes too, from just by yourself at the bar like seating near the window to larger groups in a booth. The pizza is very thin, which usually isn't my thing, but I loved it! The cheese is super delicious and I loved very bite. Then there's the ice cream, which is some of the best I think I've ever tasted. I can't wait to return to try all of the flavors! The staff was incredibly nice! Even when we screwed up on our tab. Once again, super sorry about that! They also said they were teaming up with the Hollywood so slices will be available there to enjoy during your movie watching experience! I will be making many happy returns!

A tad pricy. Pizza is not memorable, but definitely edible. I prefer to actually run 2 blocks east and get slices at Whole Foods (cheaper, better ingredients, every 11th slice free punch card)

Pizza reminded me of that stuff I used to get in the cafeteria at school. Weak all-around (cheese, sauce, and dough). We had the pepperoni. Either I hit them on an off night or the rest of these reviewers don't know good pizza. We nearly threw it out and went to grab something else to eat.
(2)Cindy I.
Not great, not bad. The toppings had good flavor and liked the sauce. The crust if you tasted it on it's own had no flavor. The texture was fine with the crust just very bland. I would eat it again if we went to the theater next door but I don't think we will do take out again. There are better options.

I love this place. Super family friendly and a wonderful atmosphere. Everything was clean and great customer service. I had their veggie pizza and it was tasty. I recommend if you want a good slice of pizza and a relaxing time hit this place!

If I could give this place less than one star, I would in a heartbeat. Atomic pizza is very very close to my work, so it used to be a convenient option for lunch time, however after today's encounter there I will not be recommending them, or going back again. When I walked in, a girl with short blonde hair hardly greeted me. I ordered my lunch in which had to have been the most awkward encounter of my life. She acted as if she did not want to be there at all,and that I was being a huge inconvenience by coming in. When I got my credit slip, I scratched out the spot for a tip, seeing as my encounter with her was less then pleasant. Upon seeing this, my service became worse. I had ordered ranch to go with my lunch, and a drink as well. She told me "It's going to be ten minutes" and then walked away, without even giving me my drink cup. I stood awkwardly, hoping someone would acknowledge me so that I could ask for my cup, however no one came back to the front of the store. The man making my sandwich, came up to the front and carelessly tossed my bag down, not saying thank you or anything. He grunted in my direction basically, and turned around to leave when I asked for my cup. He reached over, grabbed a to-go cup and slammed it down on the counter in front of me. When I got back to my office, I realized the ranch I had paid for wasn't even in the bag. There was no way in hell that I would be going back to ask for it. This had to have been the most uncomfortable encounter of my life, and for what? A 7.70 meal that I could have probably gone down to 7-11 and gotten something of the same quality, but with better service and for less. The place was super empty as well, and I'm sure it will continue to stay empty. If you are the owner and you see this, your staff really needs to improve their customer service skills. I've eaten here many times, and this is not the first time that my service has been less then satisfactory. However, this was the final straw.

Disappointing. I had a cheese slice and a pepperoni slice today, just to try it and they were both too heavy with sauce, and the crust tasted like it had been in glass slice-holder for too long. The woman at the counter was pleasant and the location is good--but I won't be going back except maybe in a pinch.
(2)Rouxster P.
Quite possibly the worst pizza ever. Skim milk cheese with zero flavor, it isn't really pizza, flavorless bread. Good tap list though. Note to owners: spend some money on the cheese you tightwads.
(1)Irene S.
I had a nice slice of their special veggie pizza of the day (a slice of the special goes for $3.95) before hitting up Hollywood Theater for a movie next door. Quick and easy dinner with no frills. Tomato with red onion and basil was just as light as I wanted it to be and allowed for me to indulge in the ice cream/sorbet selection they had too. Orange vanilla sorbet, mmm... Their meat special pizza of the day was a pulled pork with feta - looked pretty good too, but I felt more inclined to order the veggie special in that moment. Next time, the calling of the pork will be obeyed.
