Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Like the atmosphere and the food is good, not great. Way overpriced. Have a coffee here, but eat elsewhere.

I have been coming to GP for years. Food is consistently good, crowd is diverse, beer selection is deep and fine. Love it! One of my favorite places to go in Pendleton.
(5)Queta G.
When you're traveling across Oregon, it's good to know that you have some gluten free options. Stop in Pendelton, for lunch or dinner and you get this treat. Gluten free pizza, bagels and bread. The food is solid, but not blow your socks off. We had gf pizza and a tuna melt. Downtown Pendelton is worth checking out.

What a find in Pendleton, OR. A nice, spacious location with a good menu full of real food. Lots of pizza, sandwiches and salads. Drinks look good too. I was surprised by this one. The place to go, it seems, if you're driving through Pendleton.
(4)Chelsea P.
Eh vegetarian food, neat atmosphere but too busy and crowded.
(2)Justine D.
delish! had the tuna sandwich and tomato soup. i loved the atmosphere and all the cool little chocolates and microbrews. wish they cleaned tables after customers used them though, had to sit at a dirty table. yucky. but the food was yummy.
(3)Rebeccah M.
We stopped here on a road trip, and the food and atmosphere were outstanding. We shared the salmon caesar salad, the tuna sandwich, and a glass of local sauvignon blanc. The salad was especially delicious, and tasted fresh and crisp, exactly what we needed after driving for several hours. The best part, though, was the impromptu concert at the table next to us - it started with two guitars and a harmonica, but every few minutes more people showed up, and by the time we left, there were several guitars, banjos, harmonicas, and fiddles playing. Great fun!
(5)R A.
Sandwich OK, counter service fine.

We stopped in at the Great Pacific on a busy Friday evening with our two boys. Even as busy as it was, the staff were helpful, the ordering line moved quickly, and our pizza and sandwiches came out quickly and were delicious. The ambience is very casual. My only disappointment was that while there was a famer's market going on in the street outside, our fruit plate was made with non-local grocery-store produce. I would nonetheless highly recommend the Great Pacific.
(4)Jerrod D.
Great Pizza made with such excellent ingrediants, it is tough to pass up, their baked sandwhiches are also something yo have to try, along with the excellent food the extensive wine and Micro brews make for an excellent afternoon and hopefully you can catch it while a live band is playing. this always makes for a special treat in the middle of the week when your just expecting excellent food and a couple micro brews.
(5)Aisha M.
Business travelers beware. If you ever have to go to Pendleton. OR there isn't much to do. I was very excited to even find JC Penney. I have a rule that I don't eat at chains while on travel. So I search high and low for some local fare in this small town. Main street is mostly dead except for this gem. It has sandwiches, salads and pizzas. It had a very extensive wine list which made me very happy. The food was excellent as was my Fume Blanc! So if you find yourself here and you don't know what to eat stop at this place so you don't end up at Taco Bell.
(5)Mark L.
This is more than a coffee and wine shop. They also make some monster size pizza and have a wide selection of beers. If you are looking for something a bit different they also have mead.
(4)Bill Y.
OK, agreed with the other reviewers that the food is excellent (meat is fresh, think it is cut there, veggies taste local, bagels are real and real fresh), the selection unusual for a small (fresh corned beef; Thai peanut pizza, real bagels, choice of wines and exotic beers) town, and the service friendly and funny. Now this from a native: drift in with friends on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm so you get a seat, order a meal and enjoy the bluegrass band that slowly builds from about 3:30 on. Not just the regulars, but they attract musicians from the Eastern Oregon Symphony and other venues, and the music ebbs and flows with arrivals and departures until closing time around 8pm. No extra charge. Carol and Ken, the owners, do a great job on weekday evenings with scheduled bands also, but the bluegrass is authentic, fun and entertaining to the point of watching local tots dance in the aisles.
(5)Adrienne L.
A Pendleton mainstay for over 25 years. While some plates are pricey, the consistent high quality and selection makes up for it.
(5)Cyndi P.
Attention business travelers and lovers of high quality food in a friendly casual atmosphere! Great wine and cheese selection and good soup of the day! Thanks to the other Yelp reviewers who commented - you were right on! I enjoyed dinner here last night and will definitely make this a regular stop on the road!
(5)Carrie P.
Kinda classy little joint... Seems like the locals love it. The coffee is pretty crappy though. Plus, it doesn't open til ten! I wish we had hit it up for lunch instead of morning coffee. The place itself is pretty cool though.
(4)Kody L.
If you find yourself in Pendleton, then you'll quickly realize the town is full of Tex-Mex, fast food chains and steak houses -- pretty limited. Discover Great Pacific sometime. I make a point to visit on every trip, because I have to make sure it exists for the next visit. Pendleton is just now discovering coffee culture, but Great Pacific (GP) has served awesome coffee even before Starbucks ever opened their local stores. The coffee is the best in town and provides the only charming cafe atmosphere in all of Pendleton. You can get great deli sandwiches, pizzas, pastries and more. They also have a great wine and cheese selection. Seriously, this is my "big city" cultural haven in my home town. I'm so grateful it exists. Any travelers will be happy to know about this place.
(5)Jessica W.
This place is one of my favorites in Pendleton. It is a coffee shop/cafe as well as selling a great selection of wine and beer. I have come here in the morning for breakfast as well as live music and drinks in the evening. I would highly recommend and I plan to keep coming!
(5)Brenna S.
The food is Great. The service however, in my personal experience (Each of the 5 times I have been) was sub par. Staff was rude, and visibly annoyed. One staff member rolled her eyes at me. Today I on my work lunch, my co workers sent me to GP to get us all Lunch. I arrived to a nearly empty establishment and it took my entire Hour long lunch to receive one salad and three sandwiches. So great food, but I'm disappointed in the service.
(2)Frybread Q.
The wiki wiki pizza is good so is the tuna salad sandwich. The chocolate chip oatmeal cookies are the bomb!
(4)sean r.
Such a great and clean place to eat! So many Gluten Free options and they are so knowlegable. Not to mention everything tastes so Great! Pizza, sandwiches, and goodies!
(5)Bill T.
Good ambiance. Poor service. Come here if you like to wait 45 minutes for a sandwich.

Ask a Yelp Whisperer QOTD (Question of the Day) December 23, 2014 Dear YW, it's like this: I'm being "dragged" by mi madre y padre to Pendleton, Oregon for a long weekend and I sooooo dread the whole cowboy hat and whiskey thing. I'd really like to ditch the parental units for a couple of hours while they are having thick-cut steaks and Walla Walla red wine at Hamleys. Got any tips for a local hot spot with craft beer, wine by the glass, and honest-to-goodness vegetarian options? Oh, and I'd like to eat for under $20, too. Live music would totally be cool as well. Got all that? Gimme what you got, muchacho. Muchisimas gracias! Maria J. Lompoc, CA Hi there, Maria! Take my advice and hit up Great Pacific. It's a hybrid kind of coffeehouse meets wine shop meets craft beer and pizza sort of place, with local live music and weekend jam sessions (guitars, fiddles, harmonicas, that sort of thing) as well. Very popular with Pendletonians young and old, from toddler to octogenarian and a lot of 20s, 30s, and 40s mixed up in the middle. They have pretty decent wine by the glass options in the $5-8 range and some cool OR and WA beer on tap in the $4-7 range, plus a lot of bottles in coolers and along the walls for take out purchase or in-store drinking. Food is soup, salad, sandwich and pizza kind of stuff, with specials and sweet treats too. I'd get a personal-sized meatless pizza - lots of fresh veg on a hand-tossed crust with sauce and cheese, and then have a pint of local brew from the rotating taps. Grab a seat close to the front, where local musicians gather for impromptu sessions. It's a neat spot on Saturday and Sunday nights in winter, when the sun sets by 5 pm and you really want a comfortable, lively sort of place to hang out, read a book, eat a simple but satisfying meal, and soak up a little of Pendleton that isn't about round-ups or woolen blankets. Grab a coffee or some beans before you leave - you know, for the road. Oh, and don't forget the hot sauces at the condiment tables! They go real nice with that vegetarian pizza and cold beer. GP is not exactly like a great Californian taqueria, but it's pretty darn close in terms of affordability, food and drink options, and general come-on-in, no reservations needed kind of vibe. I don't think you - or your parents - would mind. Just try to keep it a secret from them or else they'll be joining you at the table, too! Happy trails and travels, Maria. Hope that eastern Oregon is everything you hope it will be.
(4)Jerrod D.
Excellent gourmet pizza !!! And drinks are anything you could want and all at a high quality. Frequently has live music and always a comfortable place to sit and enjoy either a snack or meal or just a drink. Also extensive line of wines available.
(5)Nick L.
The "GP" is a conglomerate of a bottle, coffee and sandwich shop that also has live music from time to time. A buddy and I stopped into this place on a long road trip through Utah, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. It was really everything we were looking for in a stop ... a place to get a sandwich, beer and coffee; in that order. The sandwich hit the spot, it was a daily special with turkey and some kind of mustard and cheese on tasted rye bread, really good. The beer selection was pretty good, they offer bottles and beers on tap. I had a Oregon IPA, but I'm sure they rotate so you'll find something else. All in all this place was a hit. The food is top notch and the ability to get tapped beer at a coffee shop seems like a great idea to me. This place is pretty hip, from the brick building to the staff, you might feel like you're not in a small town in Oregon. I didn't.
(5)A M.
Their sandwiches are really pretty great. Very unique and always delicious. I hate to pay as much as they charge for a sandwich, but I really can't say that the value isn't there. They have a few other food options, but they're mostly appetizers (the mushroom brie is fantastic). They have a lot of live music and a casual, relaxed atmosphere. They have some beer and wine, but it's not a bar and options are fairly limited. Usually, they'll have one or two domestic staples, a stout or two, and a bunch of over-hopped hipster beer. I don't drink coffee, but a lot of people like theirs. But all in all, it's fun, it's tasty, and it's got a younger crowd. I would easily recommend trying it.
(4)Ruth H.
Stopped in here for lunch while passing through town. Mmmmmmm. I had the Caesar salad. Greens were fresh, clearly washed and torn in house. The dressing was light and flavorful, the parmesano was freshly shaved and plentiful. It was served with a generous chunk of warm sliced baguette. This is the salad that brew pubs everywhere advertise, but fail at. It was just fantastic. I took an iced Americano for the road. Best and strongest coffee Id had in days.
(4)T. P.
Love Love Love this place and always try and stop here when life forces me to drive I-84. Amazing coffee and tea, and a huge menu with tons of variety... Giant sandwiches and salads with fresh vegetables, wonderful soups, great pizza, beer and wine, a foodie-type gift shop experience as well... Recommended A+++
(5)Steven G.
Came in here during a free afternoon while in the area, and was very impressed with the service, the decor, the relaxing nature of the place, and best of all if you come in at the right time they've got homeland style music playing in the main area. It closes early, but this is a very relaxing place and probably one of Pendleton's nicest hangouts.
(4)Rose G.
I was craving a coffee & pastry so I came in to try this place. Customer service was ok, the guy at the register was friendly but the coffee in my opinion was overpriced & not great (watered down espresso). Their coffee is more expensive than Starbucks. I don't think I'd come back here.
(2)Kate V.
On top of the pleasant, cozy atmosphere, I had probably the best tuna salad croissanwich I've ever had.
(5)Elizabeth A.
Great menu selection with absolutely delicious food! I loved meeting co-workers here on Friday nights for wine/ beer and bites. Everything is prepared with care and to order. The salads, soups, and sandwiches are all fresh and filling. It was dangerous living across the street and being able to pop over for a quick bite. I highly recommend to anyone stopping over in Pendelton.
(5)Dave D.
This is a great place to stop by in Pendleton for some food. I am a 4.5, and would have given a 5-star rating, although prices for food weren't particularly low. First, you should know the place is huge. There is a very large seating area. But it doesn't seem empty. Part coffee shop, part wine retailer, part pizza joint, part bar. We stopped by with our kids (ages 7 and 4) on a Saturday for lunch. While it was busy, the staff were friendly and we got a seat without problem. We ordered a soup, a beer, and 2 pizzas. The pizzas were very good, and we ended up with leftovers. Their beer selection was large, including options from Baker, Boise, Portland, Bend, and other locales. All in all, I really enjoyed the food and ambiance, and would recommend stopping in if you want a cup of coffee or meal in Pendleton.
(4)Josh M.
Everytime I come to Pendleton this is a must stop. Great beer and wine selection, and some amazing food priced well. Pizzas are fresh, filling and unique, in the best way. The sandwiches are huge, and great tasting. Awesome atmosphere and people. Very relaxed place for a good meal
(5)JR W.
I pass through Pendleton every now and then and find myself eating here because the choices in this town are pretty limited. Great Pacific provides a fun atmosphere and good food. I ordered a pizza today and was pleasantly surprised with the crust quality. They dashed the ends of the crust with small pieces of shredded cheese to give it an extra crisp. I got a peanut butter cookie to go, which was an excellent treat for the road. I'll keep stopping by for lunch as I travel through Pendleton.
(4)Lorraine C. W.
Great food, great wine, great staff, great dessert, GREAT espresso & often there is great music! GP (as the locals call it) is so great in fact that seating is hard to find on Friday and Saturday nights so come early! Located in an old brick building with tall ceilings and rustic wood beams, on a charming small town Main Street, GP is a hub of activity year round. In the summer it kitty corners the Friday Farmers Market and is the perfect place to fuel up before shopping. Great place to meet up with friends. GP truly embodies the spirit of the Great Pacific Northwest adding much culture to small town USA.
(5)Kyle L.
Awesome sandwiches and pizza. I am sure they have lots of good stuff but I always get the turkey avocado jack, it's a bit pricey but worth it. Long wait sometimes but not due to staff, mostly because it's busy
(4)Emily L.
I recently had to acquaint myself with Pendleton, Oregon when staying here for the better part of a week on a work trip. While looking for a suitable lunch/dinner option, one of the locals strongly advocated for this place...and, frankly, I'm glad she did. I ate at the "3 best places in Pendleton," and this was the proverbial Kenyan in the long-distance race. #1-they took my Corporate Amex, so I didn't have to go through the painstaking rigmarole of submitting reimbursement to my company. #2-FAN-FRIGGIN'-TASTIC beer and wine selection! I'm such a booze bag that I actually found a few wines that were comedically under-priced, and I definitely took advantage. #3-Charming interior. One room feels like a cafe and a cafeteria had a baby (one that was planned and not conceived in the back of a Buick....if that helps). The other room feels like a super-sized cafe...INSIDE of a wine cellar. "Oh, and look(!), a stage!" #4-...they have live music here. Also they had a Maryhill wine-tasting event while I was there. Awesome. #5-the food was ALL good. They had a homemade ginger dressing for their salads that was magic. The vegetarian pizza was great. The sandwiches were also good. There was no shred of disappointment from this gal. The kitchen is also open, so you can see make sure there's no shenanigans occurring. Fool me once.... #6-The staff was friendly and helpful and made sincere suggestions. They didn't possess a contrived enthusiasm, and they weren't absent. #7-I prices were reasonable. I had a salad, personal pizza (12"), and two glasses of wine for right around $30. That's nuts.
(5)Kirk J.
Fine foods and drinks in a wonderful old brick building. However, you must allow plenty of time for your food to arrive at the table. With our order, we waited 25 minutes when I went to the counter and told the cashier that we had to be somewhere in 15 minutes so we would like lunch to go. She said that our order was done and would be out soon. After 10 more minutes they started plating and wrapping our lunches. I won't be eating there again unless I have nothing else to do for the rest of the day.
(3)A R.
Their sandwiches are decent. I haven't had their coffee but the tea was good with the exception of the cinnamon tea that felt like I was drinking liquid cinnamon disks ( my stomach was mad at me for that one). I always feel a snooty vibe there though and due to their treatment of veterans we will never ever go their again.
(1)Brent W.
Cool spot, good brew and tonight live music. Lots of beer on tap and my wife is happy with the wine selection. We did pizza and salads and it hit the spot. For you tourists out there (like me) this is a great spot to sit back and immerse yourself in local flavor. It's a slower pace then so many of us are used to and a refreshing change at that. I like knowing I am in an agricultural community where the folks know the value of a full days work and because of that the beer tastes all the better.
(4)Rachel A.
We were in town, looking for a local place to eat. Our hotel staff sent us here. At first I was impressed, local vibe, good menu variety, and one male staff person helped us arrange a few tables to accomodate the 12 in our combined group. Thats about all the positive right there. The service was terrible. Our blond cashier, at the counter where you place your order and pay, kept saying "Sorry, I am a total space cadet today" after every item my family of 3 ordered. We had to repeat everything, twice. All we wanted was a cheese pizza with added pepperoni and sausage, which wasn't available as an existing option on the menu. She said numerous times "My boss will yell at me if I don't charge you right." After finally getting it all squared away, we sat down to wait almost 30 minutes for our order of a Large Pepperoni and Sausage pizza, and my daughter's vegan Mezza Platter. My daughter said the hummus on the platter was disgusting. Bland and tasted nothing like hummus. Another adult in our party of 12 said the chicken on her chicken ceaser salad tasted like it hadnt been thoroughly cooked. Our pizza, which was supposed to be a Large for my husband and I, arrived as a "Personal size." We caught the attention of our space cadet cashier, who apologized and said she had indeed written down the wrong size. She offered to make us an identical one for free, but no way was I waiting another 30 minutes for one.The pizza tasted ok, but was nothing special. We ended up leaving and getting my husband a Bic Mac, since the one piece of pizza didn't satisy him. Next trip to Pendleton we will drive right past this place.

Passing through town for a night with the family on the way back to Boise...stopped in Pendleton for the the first time. Went for dinner and it was the perfect place...got some chips and salsa, salad and pizzas. The pizzas were fantastic! Honestly be great to have something like place in Boise. Crust was crisp, toppings were fresh and very good. The kids loved it, the adults loved it...good all around. I would actually take a detour off the highway just to go back...
(4)Jen I.
We found this wonderful place on our trip from Missouri to Washington. The people were friendly and the coffee was excellent. Loved the love potion no. 9! We will be back on the return trip home!
(5)Lulu B.
Excellent pizza and beverages. The pizza was great quality and good ingredients. I had a cherry cider here and keep coming back for it though it was a seasonal item. Coffee is pretty good too. Apparently there's live music on the weekends as well and the atmosphere was nice. Reminded me of the urban restaurants from the big city.
(4)Joey V.
Great service. Great healthy choices. Huge selection of drinks from beer to wine to coffee and tea. Live music sometimes as well.
(4)Charlene K.
Want some real food? This little gem is a great spot. My friend and I have a picky pallet when it comes to food. Have to say, this place is the best place to eat in town! Food is fresh and they even offer gluten free options - perfect for my friend who is allergic to wheat. The area is spacious with lots of seating. They even have live music some nights. Walls of Wine, Beer, and micro brews. Tea, and Espresso Coffee and my favorite a soy latte! I recommend the Turkey Avocado and Jack sandwich. It comes with a side of mustard, fresh fruit, and a pickle. Quite a portion for only about $7. GP is just the 'hang out' place to find a variety of culture in a small town.
(5)Sophia S.
Stopped in Pendleton for the night on our drive through Oregon and went in to Great Pacific Wine & Coffee Co for dinner. It was spacious, clean, and we we're able to get a table quickly even on a busy Friday night. As big salad lovers, we ordered the caesar, Greek, and GP salad, all of which were delicious and came in generous portions accompanied by good bread. We also tried the veggie pizza on a regular crust which was full of a variety of roasted veggies, and my sisters tried a greek/pesto pizza on gluten-free crust which they were very pleased by. I could pass up trying a cup of the mushroom-brie soup which I'd seen positive comments on, and we all loved it as well. This was a great experience overall with fast and friendly service, and we'd definitely stop here again.
(4)John H.
Very cool building ... you know ... exposed brick and all that. Decent menu. Horribly over-priced, however. $4.70 for a 16 oz latte (with an extra shot)? Gimme a break! $14 for a not very good corned beef sandwich, a bag of chips and a coke? Way, way over the top. Also, I picked up on an "aren't-you-lucky-that-we-have-lowered-ourselves-to-serve-you" sort of attitude from the staff. I've seen this before. I've never quite figured-out what is supposed to be so darned cool about working in a coffee shop, for minimum wage and tips.
(1)Todd H.
I don't know too much about Pendleton, except that it's a pretty easy town to cruise right past on the highway. But Yelp showed that Great Pacific Wine and Coffee Co was highly thought-of, so I swung by to get lunch and some coffee for the road. They have a beautiful space, tall, open and comfortable. They're stocked with a surprising collection of wines and microbrews -- both bottled and on-tap. My corned beef sammy was excellent, and my small double latte (extra hot, please) was perfect.
(5)Steve Y.
Definitely a Pendleton staple but at the end of the day its a bit over priced for the long wait it takes to get your food. I would recommend this place for a quick drink and hangout only.
(2)Shanon H.
Five stars based on the chicken ceasar salad. Very good! Atmosphere very cool and laid back.
(5)Justin L.
Yelp's 4-star description sums this review up nicely. I am indeed a fan! I go here for happy hour (3-6 pm, Monday-Saturday; they're closed Sunday) on occasion, cuz it doesn't get much better than $2 for a quality microbrew. After 6, you still have a ton of options, for beer and wine, both on tap and in the bottle. If you're on the fence between the 10 beer choices, let em know and they're happy to pour you a (free!) sampler of whatever they got. This stuff is constantly rotating, so come in one week and you won't see the exact same options you had last week. Cheers to variety! The food is good. The pizza is stellar (except the reuben, which needs more dressing), albeit pricey. Their salads are large enough for 2, and they generally feature 2 soups des jour. Their sandwiches use bread baked at the neighboring Cookie Tree bakery. Good stuff. Their following is predominately casual to hipster casual, but they're comfortable with it. Afterall, this place pioneered the availability of microbrews in Pendleton, and microbrews were/are not always popular among many of the down-home folks. The wait staff is always very helpful, and the owners, Carol and Ken, strive to remain very knowledgeable in the products they sell/serve. They often feature wine/beer tastings on Friday nights, which is a cool stop following the local farmer's market (relative to which this establishment is on the southwest corner). They host live music on a regular basis, in a fairly good variety of genres. On the last Thursday every month they also do an open-mic night. It's not really something I'm interested in, but it's worth noting for the sake of a complete review. All in all good stop for some brews/wines you won't find at the grocery store. Add a pizza and treat yourself to a night out in downtown Pendleton.

This place is fantastic! I am so thankful that this small little city falls almost right in the middle of trip from Boise, ID to Seattle, WA. Pendleton is a great little picturesque city. Every one is very nice here... Now to get to the restaurant... WOW, this place is great. I wish I was staying here so I could come back for a wine tasting... Instead, I was able to get a bagel sandwich and an iced tea. So this bagel sandwich was surprising because you got to choose your bagel and it was not served like a real sandwich. The bagel was cut into two pieces with each piled high with roast beef and cheese and then baked. AND it was served with sides of great mustard and horseradish and a nice pickle. Needless to say, it was wicked tasty. I got their orange/cinnamon iced tea and it was good. I have to say, that the tea had too much cinnamon. It would have been great, had it not been for the excessive cinnamon... AND this is a great deal of a place, with tip it was only $10! I wish I was traveling back through Northern Oregon again....
