Great bakery and restaurant, and a worthy latte in addition. If you're in Pacific City, you need to come here for at least one meal. This place is a gem, with delicious diner-like breakfasts that offer just a little bit of sweet with a lot of additional flavors. The french toast with fruit compote was amazing, and probably the best french toast I've ever had. The blueberry bun was packed with fresh blueberries, twisted in a buttery brioche with the sweet frosting giving it that bit of sugar without making the blueberries fade into the background. I was most impressed with the latte, as that I don't expect high quality espresso shots from a restaurant that isn't first, and foremost, a Starbucks-style cafe, but this was probably the best coffee drink I had in Pacific City, and definitely worth the stop on the way out of town. The service is great, but keep in mind this place can get a little busy as the late morning turns into afternoon on the weekends. This place is definitely not to be missed.

The light filled wooden-floored cafe has windows on all sides and pretty views of the town and slough. It probably has the best bakery in the area with all types of scones. The large and breakfast is served until 3, and has many things to choose from.

This place makes amazing carrot cake. I called ahead and ordered a cake as we were celebrating a birthday in Pacific City. The owner was so sweet, we were getting in late and she gave me her cell phone and was willing to open up if they had closed before we arrived. That's service. The cake was so moist and the frosting was the perfect sweetness. Will def be heading back to try more goodies.

I've been a here a few different times over the year, the service staff is really amazing. THe food is good, (especially comparing it to others in the geographic location, it is really REALLY good.) Today, I ordered the ginger pancakes which were exactly as I'd expect them to be. And, the marionberry scone looked amazing, I'm definitely gonna try that out next time!

We were surprised with a lovely Christmas vacation in our beloved Pacific City. This morning was our last day at the beach house, and we decided to go out for brunch at Grateful Bread. We were not disappointed! The restaurant consists of a smallish (6-8 table) dining room, plus a 4-6 table sun porch. We were invited to seat ourselves, and opted for the sun porch, sunny and bright with lovely views of the bay across the road. The menu was just too much - I wanted this, that, this, omg that sounds so good. I chose the smoked salmon scramble, Mr opted for the farmer's omelette (ham, cheese, onion), teen picked French toast (with a delicious apple compote on the side), and tween chose blueberry pancakes. I very rarely like diner coffee, but Grateful Bread's house brew was so good, I had three cups! Mr, a coffee snob, loved it, too. Service was fast and friendly. The tween's pancakes were bigger than his head! They were two pancakes that were the size of the entire plate, with syrup and powdered sugar on the side. The teen's French toast was thick and creamy, and he devoured the compote. Both Mr and I opted for biscuits over toast, and oh my, they were good. I am a Southern girl who knows a good biscuit, and this was a good biscuit - light, flaky, not too dense. Both of us got two huge biscuits on our plates, along with home potatoes. I didn't care for the potatoes and gave them to the bottomless stomach teen. My salmon scramble was very good, with quite a bit of house-smoked salmon. My only complaint was that it was a bit salty - maybe that would have been tempered by a bit more egg or some milk in the egg before scrambling. Mr loved his omelette. Our water and coffee were filled routinely, and we had the pleasure of dining next to a group of older gentlemen who apparently have frequent breakfasts together - they talked about anything and everything! Reminded me of my grandpere and his friends having coffee at the local diner. I would definitely recommend Grateful Bread for breakfast, brunch or lunch if you're in Pacific City (or even traveling through)! As we left, there was a chalkboard listing the daily special - a turkey sandwich with spinach and bacon on sourdough bread. If I wasn't so full, I'd have gotten that to go! Note that, like many PC places, Grateful Bread is closed Tues & Weds.

The warm bakery smell hits you as you walk in, and all the baked goods are top notch. A wealth of vegetarian/ pescatarian choices for both breakfast and lunch. The smoked salmon omelet, tomato/moz baguette, fish tacos, gingerbread pancakes, and bean burrito were faves among our party. Very reasonable prices. Nice, airy, welcoming atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff.

Pacific City: used to be a remote fishing town, very slow and laid back, famous for the fleet of dory boats. Even a few years ago it was fairly chill there, and Daily Bread was clearly the best place in town to eat. So a hot August day in Portland finds us fleeing to the coast to cool off, and Pacific City, a place my wife went as a child, seems like a good choice. However, a tsunami of money and development has engulfed Pacific City. Condos, upscale vacation homes and resorts are the norm now, and PC appears to be an end destination for a variety of tourists, and you can't see much of the old town or even the river or the ocean. Not many places to eat, and a ton of tourists. So how id Daily Bread holding up? Still a really nice looking place, lots of windows. The waitress was super friendly, even though she was very busy. I ordered the first thing that caught my eye, which was a Hangtown Fry (that's an omelet with oysters and spinach), homefries, and homemade sourdough toast. So far, we're at five stars. Food arrives. Buried next to a mountain of homefries and toast is the omelet. Fries are coated with paprika or chili powder, but that can't hide the fact that the potatoes are green. Agggh, green potatoes are inedible. Minus one star. Let's try the sourdough toast, which looks a lot like white bread, and turns out to be white bread. Very, very sweet white bread. Minus another star. The eggs are actually good, should be the highlight of the meal, not buried, but still good. And now to pay. The person who rang me up (manager? owner?) was quite rude. Zero contact, too busy bossing someone around to make eye contact, say hello, etc. Minus one more star. Maybe the problem is that mid-August weekends are a bad time to visit a town that is touristy and has few eateries.

FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY!! If you visit or drive through Pacific City, you absolutely must eat here. The baked goods are incredible, all baked fresh daily by the owner and master baker, from what we were told. Best bacon, best biscuits, best egg scrambles, best coffee, best bread, best desserts, best EVERYTHING. I have not had a breakfast or brunch that has ever topped this experience.

This is by far the best place to eat in Pacific City, and too bad closes at 3PM. Great breakfasts of all kinds, good service, although it is usually busy, so be prepared to wait. Very friendly staff who make you feel at home. Far better than the breakfast chains elsewhere along the Oregon coast.

This is my favorite breakfast place in Pacific City! A fresh baked scone and a cup of coffee for 3.25 (scone 2.25, coffee there, 1 buck!) Best deal I have found in a long time! When we are in town, I will come here when they open at 8, grab a scone with my infant, and sit and drink coffee. Staff is always fun and helpful, and their food is yummy too!

Have been here a number of times but not breakfast. Went for breakfast and the coffee is TERRIBLE! Bitter, burnt Italian roast. Not drinkable. My eggs tasted like fish. Must have been cooked on same area without being cleaned. Have good baked goods though.

I really want to like the Grateful Bread better -- a cool name and tie-dye uniforms to boot -- but the service and food quality were very hit and miss. The french toast with marionberry and apple compote was good. The fresh biscuits absolutely tender and divine. The fish tacos, however, while having tasty local "dory-caught" cod, had runny coleslaw served on tepid, thin Lynn Wilson style flour tortillas such that they were soggy and falling apart when trying to eat. Ewww! The salmon scramble tasted good but the texture wasn't quite on - the eggs a little too tough and watery and the salmon pieces too small and not substantial enough. The chai latte was served much too sweet. One waitress was very charming, the other a wet rain cloud. They overcharged our bill; while they apologetically fixed it it seems to me symptomatic of the average service we experienced here. Too expensive of a brunch for such inconsistency.

Let me start this off with saying they have best customer service I have had in a long time. We showed up later in the day, like right after they closed (2 or 3pm). One of the gals at the front counter saw me being a creeper peeping in the window and asked if we needed bread or anything. Even though it was after hours she still sold us goodies! They make everything fresh each morning which equals deliciousness. My fav was the marionberry scone, flaky and barely sweet, just as a scone should be. Their baked goods are huge and at $2 and some change, totally worth it. They have plenty of seating, it has a very spacious open feel. I would eat here every morning if I lived in Pac City. They also have a large menu with savory fare, coffee and espresso, which I will be checking out next time I am in town.

Asked around town and all the locals I talked to said this is the place to go in Pacific City. We had a smoked salmon scramble and a rice/bean/egg dish can't remember what that one was called but both were real good. The coffee and biscuts were both very good. They had a bunch of pastry/rolls ect at the counter where you pay I didn't get anything but I should have, this was a good place for breakfast.

I dream of the rosemary olive bread here...fabulous breakfast and lunch spot. The pancakes are the best I've had anywhere and the food is all around great. The service can be slow but that's just a reminder you are at the coast and not working, relax!

We got there early for breakfast, and boy I am glad we did, the place filled up fast, and there was a line for seats out the door. I have never had better French Toast! I will be back the next time I am in town...going to work my way through the menu! The waitresses are friendly, and as hectic as the place was, were very fast.

Totally cute spot for breakfast and bread. I love the Challah bread and the carrot cake - so delish! The staff is super friendly and always have a smile. The food is also reasonably priced and a yummy. If you are going to head to the Oregon Coast, this is definitely a place to check out. The only con about the place is they are not open for dinner service. Also, I believe they have a drive thru - but I haven't used it. The place is so cute inside, its better to enjoy the interior along with the delicious smells.

Went here on motel staff's recommendation. I got the oyster and egg scramble, and it ruled. The girlfriend got the tuna salad sandwich, which also ruled, along with a simple side salad that looked so artfully arranged that I almost took a picture. She ordered a cookie at the end of the meal and then talked about it for the rest of the day, later telling me that we needed to find a crappy cookie for her to eat so she could stop thinking about how good the previous cookie was. We also got a loaf of rosemary bread to go, and it ruled. Good coffee, good service. I also ordered a cup of the Tillamook cheddar and corn chowder that was so surprisingly bland that not even a storm of Tabasco could not save it. But that, and the fact that this entire place is based on one of my least favorite bands of all time, is not enough for me to give it any less than a ringing recommendation.

This is a great little spot in a beautiful location. Pacific City is small but is surrounded by great scenery. There is a reason this place gets good reviews and for the one person who called it overated I am pretty sure wasn't getting laid on his vacation. The pastries and the food all look and taste great. I had a huge breakfast sandwich on a homemade hamburger bun that wasn't on the menu. I love when places are genrous with their bacon. The scones, cookies and carrot cake are all my favorites. The fresh baked choices in bread all look very good. The service is great and it can get busy but it's always a spot I visit when in this small town.

My family has been going here for years and it has remained consistent. Excellent bread, nice employees and delicious food! Was here recently and they were packed, but it was worth the wait. Boyfriend and I got egg scrambles with potatoes and sourdough, while our son got challah french toast dips. Everything was perfect! Definitely try the pesto spinach scramble when you go. Waitresses were on top of everything and it was a nice experience, like always.

The absolute best chocolate chunk cookie ever. I ride 36K round trip on my bike down Highway 101 to eat one on the porch. A local institution. Great bakery. Great soups. Great value. Can get busy and slow but always cheerful. My wife loves the bakers lunch - a baguette with roasted veggies with balsamic dressing. I like the black bean chili. We all like the cookies.

Yum yum and more YUM! I haven't been to this bakery in YEARS and this past weekend I was determined to stop by as I was in Pacific City for solstice. We got coffee, cheesecake brownies, and a fresh loaf of challah, plus my sister had a loaf of the spinach garlic bread - if that doesn't sound heavenly I don't know what does! It's kind of out of the way (5 hours away, actually), but worth the drive if you are anywhere near the town. Highly recommended!

This is a bakery which also serves breakfast and lunch. It's a cozy atmosphere, and probably the best breakfast in Pacific City. Their breakfast choices are tasty but limited. You won't find pancakes, waffles, or hashbrowns here. The omelets and scrambles are good, and the toast is magnificent, homemade I think. Staff is friendly and prices are reasonable.

Yummy breakfast and lunch in one trip! I did something I never do...I ordered blueberry pancakes! I am an egg and potatoes type of girl...so pancakes was a surprise for all. The blueberry pancakes were great! My husband ordered a tuna melt on their fresh baked wheat bread. It came with home fries and he was very happy. My favorite part was that we were able to sit out on their screened in deck and have our meal. We bought some of their coffee to bring home. We will definitely visit again!

Greatfull bread iz terrible. Save your money. Each time we've been the eggs were cold, and potatos were raw. Terrible toast and I was offended that I actually paid money to eat there. I wish I could eat here every day, for every meal. When you walk in, you're completely stunned by the beautiful baked goods in the display case. At least, I was. I couldn't even move away from that case to be seated, I was so captivated by the gooey carrot cake, giant muffins and cookies (seriously, they're almost as big as my head), the pretty loaves of bread. Mmmm. I was in heaven when I walked in... It was great to see that all the staff were women. Not sure if it's owned by women, too, but that would make it even cooler. Our server was super friendly and laid back, since we were the only people there. We ate on the sunny deck. I had a hard time choosing from the menu because everything looked delicious and my brain was still stuck on the carrot cake. I opted for my usual sandwich: tuna on multi-grain, with swiss and lettuce only. It was perfect! The prices were super reasonable, too, and I love the Grateful Dead decor/lyrics in the bathroom. :) I don't remember what my husband had to eat for lunch because, again, I was entirely focused on getting to the carrot cake. When I did, I closed my eyes throughout most of the experience, opening them only to get another forkful of love. My husband said he was full, then had one bite...and another...and another. :) That damned carrot cake was the best thing since sliced bread...pun intended! I wanted to get a to-go bag of breads, muffins, cookies, and more cake, but we were on the road, so I had to say goodbye and close with the most scrumptious cake I've had in years. I will dream of this place until I can come back again. In the meantime, is there any way they can open an affiliate in Portland? PLEASE??

We arrived on a busy Saturday, right after the dory boat parade. We did have a 20-30 minute wait, but the smells wafting from the bakery made me decide it was worth it. The restaurant as a whole smelled of fresh bread and baked goodies. After sitting for about 10-15 mintues I quickly realized many were seeing the wait and just grabbing goodies and leaving. I wanted some of those goodies, and seeing they were disappearing quickly, chose to pay for them before we were seated. I purchased a blueberry muffin, a cherry scone, one brownie (my weakness), and one each of thier cookies except chocolate chip (not a fan). I had them bag it all to save for later. It was tempting to eat it all before we were seated, but I beat off the family until such time occured. The tables were well spaced and there is a lot of lighting from a bay of windows facing the main street. There is the main area which is on the level of the baked goods display and register and then a sunken area to the east of the entrance. They are both indoors, but this makes for a visually interesting experience. I ordered the shrimp and dill sandwich, my husband ordered something with land meat (it's all the same to me), and the kids both had the single pancake, egg and bacon on the side. All of our meals were ample sized, leaving even the biggest appetite satisfied. The pancakes were huge and very good according to the kids. The eggs were perfectly cooked and so was the bacon. My shrimp salad sandwich is a nice twist on the tuna salad sandwich and was very tasty on thier own baked sourdough. We all left with filled bellies and happy tastebuds. The service, on a side note, was perfect. Despite only ordering water the waitress was very attentive at making sure we had enough. She did not bother us at all, but was also not there too infrequently either. All of the waitresses I saw were always smiling, despite the rush. This is always a pleasent bonus. If you're traveling the coast, this is a great place to stop and much more reasonably priced than the dives that speckle the tourist traps. *There is a wheelchair ramp, but the parking lot is gravel.

Well butter my bum and call me a biscuit... this place is still here. 5 years ago we stumbled up on this amazing, wonderful, delicious bread and pastry shop and figured it was too good to be true. Yet on our return pass through Pacific City there sat Grateful Bread in its cozy cottage shell. Inside the old house has been transformed into café and full bakery and catering service. Many come in to grab treats to go, others (like us) stay for lunch from their extensive breakfast, sandwich, soup & salad, and vegetarian menu. Prices are beyond reasonable for the filling breakfast or lunch you get. They have a few brews on tap and the coffee is piping hot. No wonder those garcia bears are dancing.

The Grateful Bread is the place to stop if you love baked goodies. I try to buy all my bread there. The selection is fantastic. Challa, Sourdough, Spinach/Garlic, Whole Wheat, Multi-grain, French bagettes, not to mention the one off special breads they have from time to time. Lots of fantastic cookies, scones, coffee cakes, cupcakes, and brownies. The atmosphere is laid back (just like the rest of Pacific City), no fancy seating, but the menu is full of great options (not to mention they have draft beer). The lasagna is always good. Pricing is resonable, which is more than you can say for most tourism-reliant restaurants on the coast. And the staff are always friendly.

Perfect! We loved our breakfasts here. Good food, very nice and helpful staff. The fresh baked biscuits are to die for! Besides the meal food, they have a variety of baked goods, including some delicious scone flavor combinations. If you are in Pacific City, or Cape Kiwanda, or Cloverdale, or within a 50 mile radius of this place...make a point to stop and eat!

Ok, so I was in need of some good morning baked goods, and from the reviews thought this would be the place to go. I picked out a savory scone that bacon and cheddar $2.50, a marionberry scone also $2.50 and a cinnamon roll at $2.75. The cashier charged me $11.25. Now I might not be a math wiz but last time I checked the total should have only come to $7.75. When I pointed this out to the cashier she assured me that she had rung me up correctly. I continued to state that was not the right total, but I was in a hurry so I just paid the $11.25. The bacon cheddar scone was amazing. The marionberry was also good. The cinnamon roll was disappointing, not a fan of raisins. Overall it was a decent place to get a quick breakfast to-go but make sure you check the total on your bill.

Sometimes you just don't know with yelp. We passed a perfectly nice looking restaurant on the beach and I told my boyfriend to keep driving until we found this place. Thank goodness we did!!! The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was nice, but the food was AWESOME!!!! I got the "veg out" omelette with ham and a white chocolate mocha. My boyfriend got a cup of the Tillamook cheddar and corn chowder and the special: a smoked turkey pesto sandwich. They were all to die for!! Great big portions and so delicious we both scraped our plates!! This place is DELICIOUS!!! The yelpers definitely picked a winner here if you're in the area you should definitely stop by! HIGHLY recommended!

Buyer beware! All of the bakery items look delicious at the Grateful Bread, but looks are deceiving. I purchased 3 items yesterday. Two of them, a coconut cupcake and a lemon bar, were so dry and stale, they were inedible and only suitable for the trash. Such a waste of money. The third, a chocolate chip cookie, was only edible because the large amount of chocolate chunks in the cookie hid the fact that the cookie was not fresh. If I ever go back, which is doubtful, I've learned a lesson: ask for the preparation date before I buy. Take heed and don't throw your money away like I did.

Not that great. The soup tasted funny and was kind of cold. It was my first time eating there so it might have been a bad day but who knows. The woman working there who took my order was snippy and not very polite. I was also told that I wasn't allowed to sit at a dining table while waiting for my to go order. I was told that the table was reserved for customers ordering their food for here. The restaurant was empty and there were no other customers. Not impressed.

This place is great! We had a short wait but lucked out and were able to stroll the farmers market while we waited. Definitely order the biscuits & gravy. The intoxicating scent of herby goodness is full-flavored in your mouth, and the delicate biscuits are fluffy and moist, and melt into the amazing gravy. TIP: I ordered 1/2 portion, which left me satisfied and wanting more, but not overfilled. My son ordered a scone, and after eating his first bite announced: "Guys. This is so good I'm not sharing even a bite of it. Sorry." I'm only giving it 4 stars because my cup of coffee was pretty rough, and my husband's cinnamon twist was not nearly as special as our other items. I'd definitely go back to try the lunch menu.

Excellent breakfast/lunch option in Pacific City. Upon entry, the wafts of bakery smells will up your hunger. This busy cafe offers delicious baked goods and espresso to go, or diners can stay and enjoy hearty breakfast and lunch items like scrambles, pancakes, sandwiches, salads, wraps, soup and more. I have tried and loved their biscuits & gravy, hang town fry with local oysters, turkey dip sandwich on house-made baguette, and the delicious breakfast dish Gallo Pico with seasoned rice and beans topped with scrambled eggs, salsa, sour cream and corn tortillas. There are several vegetarian options and a couple for vegans. I'm not sure if they offer eggs cooked any way other than scrambled, but have not asked. Service is prompt and friendly, coffee is refilled often, and the warm noisy atmosphere is comfortable and great for families.

Wonderful breakfast experience at the Pacific City, OR gem. The smoke salmon omelette was just filled with salmon smoked by the Grateful Chefs! Very friendly staff that added to the experience. Timely service with all plates of our party belonging to the "clean plate club". Bake goods made from scratch at the restaurant. ENJOY!

The food was delicious, staff were friendly, prices were reasonable and portions, overall, were generous. We had breakfast here on a late Saturday morning. There was no wait, however, this may not be the norm considering the time of year and flooding going on today. We enjoyed their blueberry pancakes, which were BIG. We also had a Costa Rican breakfast item, but I'm forgetting the name.. it was good. Black beans, rice, eggs, and two tortillas with salsa and sour cream. Our third and final item was scrambled eggs with biscuits and potatoes. The total came to $19.85 plus tip. The only criticisms I could give is that they were out of gravy, so I couldn't have biscuits and gravy, and they didn't fill up our waters in a timely manner. But that's just nitpicking.

Every time I'm in town the Grateful Bread is a must stop...the pancakes (Gingerbread or Blueberry you can't go wrong), thick bacon, hot cereal, & scones are amazing!!! Now they're usually pretty busy so the wait could take longer than expected, however it is worth it!!! Tried to eat everything on the menu in one day, it's that good. Savory breakfast scone, cinnamon raisin bread and baguettes of the day (cheddar & great onion). Dory caught Tuna Melt, soup n salad. So delicious. Day 2 we are the Thai Wrap and two soups. Love this place!

Absolutely charming cafe with excellent service and, not kidding, the best tuna melt I've ever eaten. Beautiful sunroom for a summer day made the eating experience even better. Our server went above and beyond, finding us the last tray of the delicious-looking chocolate cheesecake brownies, one of many baked goods that I wanted to eat immediately. Will definitely be back tomorrow to try out the breakfast fare.

Worst service ever! Too bad not a whole lot of breakfast choices in pacific city. Ignored from the moment we walked in on Father's Day. Yes we know you are busy, but just a little Acknowledgement goes a long way. Once we got a table, the waitress slammed down the menus on the table without saying a word! Unacceptable! Maybe a hello would be nice! Everyone in our party looked at one another and we walked out because the vibe was so bad! They make you feel so unwelcome! High prices also and shitty service ! I would fire the staff and get people that know what customer service is! I think the owner needs to make an appearance to see what is going on! We will never go back and spreading the word also!

First time here - not sure why. I've been wanting to try it. Smells so good! Scones on display are very eye-catching! So eye-catching that I ordered an orange cranberry scone. It was pretty good! I also ordered the French toast on challah bread. Great presentation! I guess I must not be a fan of fruit on my French toast. It was good, but about 5 bites in I scraped off the berries and asked for maple syrup. So much better! The thickness and quality of the bread was great. On a flavor scale I would give them 2-3 stars, on presentation 5 stars. The fact that they can't fill a water glass? Ummm.... Slacking on the basics here guys! Overall I doubt we will frequent the place in the future but I'm not upset I tried it out!

So we washed up at this place today. Don't get me wrong I like old hippies. But for an old ass place that is off the coast I can give them a break. I ordered a 3 egg omelet it needed salt and the spinach was not even cooked. The wife ate something bland and forgettable. On the plus side she brought coffee even though I did not order it, fact is I needed it and did not know it! Bonus about this place is the best description of a BLT ever!

We popped in on a busy Sunday morning to grab some pastries to take back to our hotel to eat. While there was a wait for the table, the wait at the counter was minimal. We ordered a scone and sweet roll. Both were delicious and the price was great.

First off, I love the Grateful Dead theme. When I came here I ordered the french toast. It was really good. I remember it was served with a marionberry compote and that just set it over the top, especially with the butter and syrup. AH! The service was nice and friendly. When I'm in Pacific City I'll stop by here again.

This place is our go to brunch spot in Pacific City. It's a cute restaurant/bakery (drive thru bakery too), with great staff working. We usually stop here before heading on home after a long beautiful week in the town. I was here over the holiday weekend, it was amazing. I had the Stella Blue two egg omelette, boy was that life changing. I was skeptical about the blue cheese in my omelette, but it did not disappoint. I wish they served hash browns instead of jo-jo's but its okay, just saved more room for that omelette in my tummy. The biscuit served with my meal was good too, i wanted to take one home but was too full. Along with it, I ordered a cup of the Corn Chowder soup. BEST soup ever. It was perfectly creamy with melted tillamook cheddar cheese. I'm so sad that I don't have the recipe to make that bad boy, but, I'm so happy I ordered it, and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. I gave them minus one star for the long long wait and no hashbrowns. We put our name on the list and i think they called our names (we were outside) and didn't check outside- our wait was around an hour. But the food made up for it! If you're ever in the area, Grateful Bread is a must try.

Greatest breakfast place!!! Loved the smoked salmon. So good, had to order all our Thanksgiving sides from Grateful Bread. Looked forward to going back for breakfast on Thanksgiving and picking up our sides. Would travel all the way from Texas again to have breakfast here. We had breakfast here this morning. First let me say our server was so warm and friendly...we really hoped the food was great, we were excited to have a breakfast place in our little beach town to visit. Yummer!! We shared the Biscuits and gravy (homemade gravy!!), and the western omelet, extra crispy bacon. All amazing!! The Blueberry scone was the best scone we have ever tasted. Fantastic service, food, quality, and price....we will definitely be back!

Three letters: yum. We have been seeing this place on our trips to PC but finally decided to do breakfast the other day. The large windows make it light and bright, despite the sheets of rain that were coming down. We both had the Stella Blue scramble with fresh biscuits and roasted potatoes. Great food and very filling at a reasonable price. The only drawbacks were the tight seating (you seat yourself but cannot seat others after you are eating and I had quite a time getting into and out of my chair once a large family moved in next to us. The noise level can also be a factor when the place fills up and there are screaming kids, but I have no idea the best way to remedy that. We swung by again this morning but passed on it because the parking lot was overfull and we could see the place was jam packed.. Oh well, another time.

Rumor has it this place is full to the brim in July/August & even September, but worth it! We came on a Monday morning in November for a late breakfast and found a quiet, pleasant atmosphere with friendly service and amazing smells! The food was incredible - we enjoyed everything from the scrambles, the pancakes and a baguette sandwich and not one item disappointed. Food was incredible and the bread and treats look perfect for taking home. Highly recommend this place and would return in a heartbeat! Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Oh how I love this little bakery/cafe! It is just down right adorable and has the best vibe. We sat on their enclosed porch and everything on the menu sounded so delicious, I had a hard time deciding. I must have changed my mind ten times, as did the other three in my party. Nearly everything comes with or on their homemade breads or biscuits. Oh lord, their biscuits are so light and flaky with just a little crunch. Absolutely divine! I settled on a fried cod sandwich. It was really fantastic and I've tried this sandwich at several restaurants. The fish was very moist and lightly fried and super tasty. Others in the party got sandwiches and breakfast and reported that they were all delicious. The coffee is really good too and we drank about four cups. They kept it coming and kept it hot! Only breakfast and lunch here but what a sunny spot.

Simply delightful! Their biscuits and gravy are really flavorful (wow, that gravy!!) and they have a great selection of pastries (scones, cookies, cinnamon rolls, etc). We had them box up a couple of scones and a cookie for our hiking adventures later in the day and they made wonderful snacks. They also had amazing looking baguettes, unfortunately we didn't get one of them (next time!). The staff was a hoot and super polite. They looked like they were all having a lot of fun! We've been eating breakfast here since 2005 and absolutely love it. The staff is so courteous, the service is quick and the food is delicious! We love the omelettes and tried the gingerbread pancakes for the first time today- they were flavorful and fluffy! Do yourself a favor and get a molasses cookie to go for later in the day!

Best blueberry buttermilk pancakes I have ever eaten. My only complaint about this place is that they're not always open. Tried to go last fall, but they were closed and according to their outgoing voicemail message they are closed for the winter until mid-Feb. Well worth the visit, but call before making a special trip as Yelp shows them as being open and their website doesn't mention closures.

Clean and bright - I love all of the natural light streaming in. We sat in the room off the side, which I quite liked because it was a fairly sunny day (yet chilly with the wind), so being enclosed was welcome. Tie-dye shirts and colorful teddy bears pay homage to the Grateful Dead and thus, the name. We came in around 1pm and they were pretty busy. We stood around for quite some time before even being acknowledged and then even longer until being seated despite 3 clean empty tables just waiting for patrons. Oh well, they were busy. The food was delish! It was a shame they were out of so many things, though. By the time we got there, they were out of biscuits and the scones and breads were very picked over. But my mother liked her scramble and my gallo pinto was interesting. Very colorful and lots of flavor but very filling. We split the ginger pancakes. Those were gooood - as soon as they came out they smelled just like gingerbread. But upon biting into them, they weren't sweet at all (which I liked!). It was refreshing to have such a well-made pancake without the loaded sugary-ness hiding the real ginger flavor. I did use syrup, but sparingly :) Our waitress was nice and was prompt with all of our needs. My only complaint is upon leaving (as with arriving), overall staff didn't seem very friendly. My mother said goodbye to the woman working behind the bakery counter and she didn't even smile back. It was more like a cold hard stare...? Not sure, maybe she had a hectic morning, but geez at least pretend to be polite! Regardless, I would return. It's a nice little find super close to the beach.

Probably THE place for breakfast in and around Pacific City. Absolutely, definitely the best Grateful Dead-themed breakfast place for miles around. Great bread, very good (if somewhat out of the mainstream) breakfast choices with excellent preparation and service. If you don't get here early on the weekends there will be a line out the door.

Umm..the smell of fresh baked bread wafts in the air as you exit your car. That scent is followed by the smell of fresh ground coffee beans...yes, this place is heavenly! The bread here is truly tasty! I had a wonderful brown bread with cherries. We toasted it up for breakfast along with eggs and some pork fat. Heavenly!!! Nice variety of rolls, baguettes, loaves and demi loaves. Not for the carb conscience!

I couldn't understand why people rave about this place. OK, its better than the average roadside tourist food, but its nothing to write home about. We had the coffee crumb cake ... it looked good in the bakery case but it was heavy as a rock .... did they forget to put in the baking powder?? We also had the orange scone and it was big but had no orange flavor and was like a heavy bisquit rather than a light, sweet scone. Coffee was OK, but again nothing special. Ambience was better than the average coast hole-in-the-wall. I think its over rated because everything is large, not that it is good.

I am totally baffled by all the positive reviews for this place. I've eaten there three times and each time the food has been completely unremarkable. The first visit I ordered the Challah bread French toast. It was dry, flavorless, not served hot, and the slices were way to thick and difficult to cut. The second visit I ordered bacon and oatmeal. The oatmeal just wasn't very good. How do you screw up oatmeal? The third visit I ordered blueberry pancakes which were just okay. If I had ordered buttermilk pancakes I would have liked them much better since the blueberries they used were sour. And their lemon poppyseed scones are dull and their biscuits are downright gross (almost bitter). And the restaurant is always too cold. I would advise people who want a good breakfast to drive a half hour south and go to the Otis Cafe.
