We did have a large group which must have been out of the ordinary for our waiter as orders became "misplaced". Our waiter was friendly and helpful nonetheless. I had the steak and eggs medium/sunny side up. My meal was excellent! My wife's salad would have been thrown out if it was in our fridge.. Sister in laws soup wasn't microwaved long enough before served, if that's how it was warmed up? Staff kindly adjusted bill to accommodate unfortunate experience. Doubtful we'll be back as there are so many near by options, but you never know...

Comfy diner. Dry hashbrowns and thin omelette. But probably healthier. Decent elevator music. Wifi was nice.

While I was stuck in Ontario in May 2011, I had a Denver Omelet here. It was cooked pretty well, the service was pretty good, atmosphere was quiet and quaint. I can't really say that this stood out for me as one of the town's highlights, but it was another place to have another meal during our four day stay in Ontario. It was just kind of middle of the road, not bad, but it definitely didn't knock my socks off.

YUK! My wife and I stopped at this place for breakfast on 12/30/13. An awful meal - cold eggs, in eatable mystery meat sausage, AND really really expensive. - $23 for the two of us. And the place was generally grungy, with crappy music. One of those typical interstate highway places with bad food and high prices.

It's not "New" American, it's just middle-of-the-road American. Adequate for a highway stop, bland and unexciting. Egg dishes are okay, but lack imagination. A side of salsa would have improved my ham and egg omelet for sure. My dining companion had the country fried steak, which was more salty than savoury. In short, there are better choices available for your stopover in Ontario.

I have eaten here a few times because when it is freezing outside it is so much easier to eat at the hotel. Plus if you stay at Clarion and are a Choice privileges member you get a $5 voucher. This place is very similar to Denny's. They have a separate local favorites menu that has a few unique menu items. One of them is a burger that is between two grilled cheese sandwiches with onion rings, jalapenos, ham, and it is two Patties. The hamburger meat did not taste good like maybe they pulled it from the bottom of the freezer. Eating here after I turned vegetarian is tough even the pasta dishes gave meat in them. I broke my BS rules and got a veggie omelet, it was bland and the veggies were undercooked. It did not even have cheese on it which I thought all omelets came with. I will eat here again because the hotel pays me to. Nothing great here but it is not horrible either.

Stopped in here after reading the reviews. My parents wanted a warm cup of coffee and a solid dinner. Coffee was hot and fresh, service was okay, our server got busy with the dinner rush but she was friendly. My father had the Rueben sandwich which he said was really good. My mom and I ordered breakfast for dinner and enjoyed all of it. Pretty standard food and reasonable prices. I recommend the pancakes, I noticed a lot of other diners enjoying the pancakes.

This place is great!!! Can't say enough about this place. I always order my food without animal products and it OfTeN gets messed up. This morning I ordered a hashbrowns, warmed on the grill, NO BUTTER, and instead of a veggie omelet, put my veggies into the hashbrowns. The waiter checked with the kitchen and said they could do it, but it would take a few minutes longer to cook with water instead of butter ( really? That means you are using fresh potatoes!! Of course that's ok with me!!) They also left butter off my toast! I forgot to ask. Way to pay attention and take care of your customers!! Highly recommend this place!

Let's just start by saying that my expectations for Country Kitchen were not terribly high to begin with -- roadside restaurant surrounded by several low to mid-range price hotels. The atmosphere and decor are pleasant, maybe a recent renovation/update? The menu was standard diner options - breakfast served all day, sandwiches and American-style dinner (meatloaf, potatoes, etc.). They actually had a gluten free menu which had numerous options. On to the food -- I ordered a taco salad which consisted of iceburg lettuce, tomatoes and carrots, grilled chicken and jarred salsa and sour cream. Decent but nothing to write home about. My fellow diner ordered the meatloaf on recommendation by the server. Worst mistake ever. Unfortunately its shape did not resemble meatloaf at all; instead it appeared to be a mound of ground meat in the middle of the plate topped with fried onions. Not appetizing. Served with mashed (possibly instant?) potatoes and frozen veggies. Service was spotty and we were a little irritated how terrible the server's recommendation ended up being. Stop here in Ontario if you must.

I wish I had read these reviews before I ate here. We stopped while driving through Oregon and only went because it was late and within walking distance of the hotel we stayed at. The waitress forgot to give my husband his side. The steak was not cooked properly and we were never told there was gravy on the potatoes. The waitress brought our bill within 5 minutes of our order and told us it didn't mean she was done with us? But she never came back to see if we needed anything. My husband finally got her attention and she brought the side when he had finished his meal. I had chicken and it was overcooked. The potatoes just tasted plain nasty. I wound up sick during the night. This really sucks especially when you are traveling and sick. Never again!!!! Don't eat here. We also told the hotel attendant that he shouldn't suggest this place because it is not a good place to eat! Bad food/Bad service

Food was ok, nothing special. Only 1 waitress when we walked in, sat our group of 10 in a seperate area and didn't see a waitress for another 10 minutes. I actually think the one that ended up helping us was called in. Decent food, nothing spectacular, but not disgusting. Would go back if I didn't have another option.

I will not be eating here ever again. I do not eat out often and I am glad I chose not to eat when everyone else did eat something. This was the first time I did not want to leave a tip, but I did anyway. I did not want to dock the servers because management should be training them better. There must not be any management. Cons: Mother had a glass with milk which had dried orange juice caked onto the glass. The waitress spilled ice onto Aunt. The waiter changed even though the person was still there waiting at other tables. I got sick from just the apple juice. It took us 10 minutes to pay our bill at the counter when there was only 1 person in front of us that was also waiting. Pros: No one else at the table got sick, that I know of. The building did not fall on us.

We had vouchers for free breakfast because we'd stayed at the Clarion. I'd eaten here before without being a hotel guest and had thought service and food was decent. However this time both the service and the food were pretty bad. Maybe because she knew we were going to be getting the free breakfast? Service was slow and we had to ask repeatedly for simple things like water and a straw for a soda. I know the breakfast was free but it was terrible. I had a veggie omelet with hash browns. It was oily and the eggs must've been the institutional liquid stuff and tasted fake. Husband ordered ham & cheese scrambled eggs and pancakes. The egg serving size was tiny and the cheese didn't even taste like cheese. There was no butter on or served with the pancakes (had to ask for it) but there were jelly packets (no toast). And when he finally got a water the glass wasn't just dirty, there was food stuck to it. Needless to say we won't be back.
