New owner!!! But the good times and food are back!Sandwiches are fantastic-like they used to be! Atlas Cider too! Just the way to kick off the weekend!

I have to say the food was very good; however the blonde bartender was way more concerned about taking to some of the local people and playing with her phone! We sat with empty glasses for 15 to 20 min. When i made enough noise to get her attention, she came to the table and was rude! Not sorry that she was so pre-occupied that she ignored us, but just not nice. I could understand if it had been very busy but there were only 9 people in the bar! So do your self a favor and stay on the freeway and go to the Winchester deli in Winchester or. Great food, great service!

TERRIFIC little local tavern. Excellent sandwich menu and unusually excellent service. Great place to watch a game on TV or have a meal or just hang out. Bartenders rate 6 stars!

Wonderful food and beer! Great jukebox and bartenders! A must come place!

We stopped off here on the southern leg of a northern trip, how lucky we were. The genuinely charming ambiance at this little tavern is just what I enjoy, add to that a selection of craft brew on draft and suddenly life is very good. Very good indeed. I'll be back each time I pass through that part of Oregon.

The Oakland Tavern is cool, laid back bar in a historic town. Best bar in Douglas County! Its truly a hidden treasure. The building has tons of history, nice beer selection, and great sandwiches. The staff is friendly, quick and always keeps your glass full. We always take visiting friends and family there and they love it too.

Great sandwiches and drinks. The owners, Eric and the Chic, are down-to-earth people that take pride in their business and their community. We stopped there on our way to Portland for a quick pint and a giggle and were surprisingly stoked on what a jem of a place this is. We split the tuna melt which was plenty for two people. For a tavern in the middle of the state, this place is great!

This bar had terrible service when we stopped in a few months ago with a large group of people after a retirement party. The place was D.E.A.D. with one couple in a booth and the bartender (a large guy wearing a football jersey) acted like we committed a sin by stopping in. We let him know that we wanted an open tab (my husband and I) and that we would cover the group (about 17 of us and 1/2 of us soldiers) and asked if he would put on some music. He had a game playing on the t.v.s full blast. He told us that in THIS bar, during football season you WILL watch the game or you will go some place else. He didn't mind either way but he was NOT turning down the game and turning on anything else. He was watching the game. We told him that the party was about a soldier in our group that just retired after 20 years of active service and that this particular bar meant a lot to her and her family because both her veteran father from Vietnam and veteran grandfather from World War II drank in that same bar and we even showed him her Grandpa's signature on the bar. He smirked and basically told us that her Grandpa didn't drink there anymore (Duh...he is dead now) and that he didn't care why we were there. He wasn't turning down the game. We immediately left and went a couple doors down to another bar that was owned and ran by an older woman who accommodated us for the next 3 or so hours while we danced and sang and drank and played lottery. We tipped that woman a couple hundred dollars and also had a great time. This bar could probably be great if you didn't have such an arrogant guy working for you. And if that guy is the owner, SHAME ON YOU ya big fat pig! If we could all choose who to fight for and who not to fight for in this country you would have topped our NOT list that night.

An awesome little pub. I like their sandwiches, and my fav is the OT Grinder. They have a happy hour from 4-6 with a poor man's happy hour on Monday where you get Pabst ( I think) for $1.50 each. They also run special happy hour prices during NASCAR races. Gotta love it! The atmosphere is laid back, and the crowd is mixed with all ages. It's a small town pub that has lots going on. they have lottery, darts (sometimes tourny's), pool, and misc video games. Lots of TV to watch the sports on too.

Awesome sandwiches and cold beer! In a cool historic setting. Went all in with the Rueben. Best I have had in years. Based on our party's experience there is not a less than kick ass sandwich available at the OT. Huge recommend.

Great atmosphere, very friendly owner and staff! Fantastic sandwiches and a generally great place to stop in, have a beer, eat and visit. Highly recommended!

Traveling San Diego to Portland used Yelp to find this wonderful place that we wouldn't have been aware of otherwise. Shared a tuna sandwich and each a cup of mushroom soup with very good beer. All were outstanding. Will certainly stop again.

Holy crap! The absolute best Pastrami dip sandwich in the county! Worth the drive.

Oregon is known for it's micro brews. Great place to grab some cold beer and catch up with friends.

Headed north from southern oregon, we found this place entirely by accident...not...it was actually recommended to us by the friendly folks at SOSCAT (Sutherlin-Oakland Stray Cat Action Team) down the block. We took a chance and we're so glad we did. The bar staff members were so friendly and the sandwich so good we just couldn't believe we were in Oakland Oregon! Not only that, the beer and particularly the Bloody Mary were both just what the doctor ordered. If I ever drive this way again and don't stop for a refresher, just shoot me! Thanks guys for being just what you are...fabulous!!

Friendly service, warm atmosphere. Some local beers on tap - we enjoyed the IPA from Eugene-based Ninkasi and a porter from Southern Oregon Brewing Co.

The best bar in Douglas County! Great sandwiches and great people, check it out!
(5)Andrew P.
The sandwiches are fantastic and their beer selection is top notch. Happy hour pricing is great. This is going to be the freshest pint of Ninkasi IPA you'll ever have without going to the brewery itself, 56 miles away, and at price that's at half of Portland bars. Just 2 miles off the freeway in a little-known country town known as Oakland, this is definitely a good place to grab lunch or switch drivers if you're making a trip north or south on I-5.
