Basic chinese food at a good price. I have a large family of 7 and a dinner bill usually about 50 bucks. We always have plenty to take home too. Wait staff have always been fun and friendly. Fast service and a bar. Nothing special on menu but always good.

My son ordered dinner for 4 to go, $64.00 and it was all terrible. We all felt sick after eating it. I have seen this restaurant go down hill for the last 10 yrs.

Great if your favorite vegetable is cabbage. Every dish is predominantly cabbage and very greasy.

Food is good. Price is right. Wait staff is fast and they work together. Parking lot is odd, have fun if you try to turn left onto HWY 101. Use Newmark when leaving to the north, so you have the light.

This place is not bad if you like big portions of food for a good price. It is simple Chinese food and is nothing fancy. They have good sweet and sour chicken and pork egg too young. The BBQ pork and crab puffs are good too. The place is fairly clean and the service isn't bad either.

We kept seeing all kinds of cars in their parking lot. Good indicator. . Well we stopped. Pleasantly surprised. Good food and great price. Service was fast. Would recommend and will return again.

It's what you would expect. Not bad, not good. I eat here when I want lots of food on the cheap. Hot tea is free

By far the best Chinese food I have had in the Coos Bay/North Bend area. Located kitty corner from the casino, this restaurant is hard to miss. They have all the usual American-Chinese food favorites, but what I like about this place was selection of more traditional Chinese dishes such a beef chow fun. On my visit, I opted for the chow fun and a order of pot stickers to go. It took about 10 minutes for my order and cost about $15. When I got home and unpacked my food, the order of chow fun was huge! It could easily feed two people. In terms of flavor, it wasn't too greasy or too salty, which was nice. The pot stickers were also more traditional. Instead of the entire dumpling being thrown into the deep fryer, only one side was crispy, while the rest of the dumpling was still soft. Since my food was to go, I can't really comment on the service. The little intereraction I did have, the staff seemed friendly and efficient. Definitely my go to spot in the Coos Bay/North Bend area for Chinese food. Looking forward to trying some of the other menu items next time.

I've been coming to this place for 6 years now and I'm never disappointed. Everything is good. I've had everything Sweet & Sour they have (the sauce is to die for), but the true greatness comes in the form of their Szechuan dishes, with the Beef is my favorite dish they make. Can't tell you how many times I'm grabbed a Szechuan-style Family dinner (#3) for 3 to 4 and ate on it for 3-4 days days solid! So good They give you loads of food and a great price, and the service is great. They even deliver! (something most of the others in the area do not). Only other Chinese place in town that might do it as well is Chan's Wok, but skip Tai's Dynasty (only thing they do right there is their unique General's Tso chicken, but Lucky's is better even so), and dont touch Kum-Yons with a 100 ft poll. If you want Chinese food that is awesome, fairly cheap, and in large amount, then Lucky Star is your place.

I came here once a while back. I ordered some sort of pork, and it was dry and as tough as piece of jerky. that's been sitting under the Arizona sun for 30 days. The server was a male, and it's not that he was unfriendly exactly, he just made it clear to me with his facial expressions, body language, lackluster attitude that he really hated his job and couldn't wait for me to order, scarf it down as fast as I could, give him his money and leave. What is it with the Chinese restaurants in this town? What is wrong with these people? Needless to say, I sure won't be returning. I hate spending money on bad food and I also hate poor service and being rushed. When I go to a restaurant, I want to relax and enjoy myself. I want to enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the experience.

This place is legit (for Coos Bay). Delicious, huge plates of food. They have a special where you can pick 5 or 6 things for under $10 to create your own combo. They also have smaller selections of combos. They make anything vegetarian with tofu (thank god!!). I had the orange tofu which was a little sweet and incredibly messy but that's OK. FYI: The tofu is not fried (So it is still floppy in large triangles). My boyfriend was happy with his beef dish. The crab puffs come with sweet and sour sauce. I think we got 12 for a very affordable price. I was quite pleased. They delivered to our hotel room which was incredible after a long, tiring day.

My husband and I came for lunch they had a special 6 items for $9.95 we both ordered it thinking "oh it's just going to be a little of eat" when our food arrived it was on a huge plate and it COVERED the entire plate, the food was so delicious I loved the sweet and sour pork, shrimp, spring roll, and bbq pork. I got to full to eat my pork fried rice and pork chow mein but I got a snack for later:-) service was awesome!! We will definitely be back:-)

This is the kind if food that you feel terrible after, sick flu feeling kind of terrible. There are some locals that like it but anyone with tastebuds left will be unhappy unless maybe you are really hungover..

Food is fine. Nothing amazing but it's super cheap. Depends on the waitress most of them r nice but we have had a rude one.

Food was just average. The service was great. We had a large group that was handled well. Separate checks wasn't an issue for our group of 16. Their lunch specials are priced and include plenty of food. They have a large back room that can be partitioned off even larger groups that need a more private setting.

I swear there is no place in coos county as affordable and as yummy as this authentic looking place with both tables and booths. They can accommodate large parties. there is a full service bar. It seems the same family has been running it for years and the waitresses are so friendly and always greet us with smiles and warm welcomes. I recommend the sweet and sour soup for the starter and I always order from the lunch menu that is affordable and tasty.

I come here regularly because it's the best Chinese food in town. The prices are very affordable and the portions are great. The food excellent, served quickly, and the staff is very nice! Definitely worth every penny!

There's better food and there's worse food than what Lucky Star offers. The keys to this restaurant's success is not the food being great since it is just average, it's the quantity combined with a reasonable price plus the service and interior is good. Should this be your recipe for picking a place to eat, then by all means dine here. I'd rather pay more and get a better grade of Chinese food but that's my tastes speaking. If you just want to eat more, you'll feel like a hog at the trough, I guarantee it...LOL!

If you give this greasy spoon more than 1 star you obviously have NO taste buds and have NO clue what authentic Chinese food should taste like. Don't waste you money on this place. This is an honest review by someone who has eaten there several times and had hoped it would eventually turn around, but it hasn't.

Fast, cheap, and reasonably good. The atmosphere is a tiny bit creepy (dark and a bit dreary) but the food is okay. Good enough for take-out that's for sure. It's not my favorite in the area, but it's also not my least favorite. If what you're after is something quick, easy, and inexpensive... this is a good choice.

Food is okay... Not top of local choices. My favorite things about them are their sweet & sour sauce and they are open Christmas Day every year!

If we go to Chinese food, it is almost always here. We have enjoyed this place for years. Great prices, great value, great food and personable wait staff.

I wandered over to Lucky Star out of boredom last week. I was looking for somewhere new for lunch, as I was kind of tired of my usual spots. It wasn't a terribly pleasant experience. Though relatively inexpensive, the food is still over-priced given its quality (or lack thereof). My lunch special consisted of bland chow mein, dry fried rice, an over-cooked and unbelievably greasy egg roll, and nearly tasteless soup. The service was lackluster, if not aggressively bad. Sad to see it has degenerated to this unfortunate level. Back when it was Ming Palace, this was one of the better places for Chinese food in town.

This is the classic good lunch deal. Nice price, quick, good food, bit old time throw back decore. I can see why they stick around. Not where I'd go for dinner.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
