The Starfish Grill is great. The dining room is lovely with a nice view to the ocean. We were seated promptly and offered either s table or booth. The wine selection is reasonably priced and we enjoyed a nice merlot. Our waiter was funny and helpful. Overall the food was tasty and well prepared. I will be back!

Ate here with a group on a Friday night. Wasn't very busy, and the service was decent. The food, however, was sub par. I ordered their special - Parmesan crusted halibut. What I got was a large, very overlooked piece of fried fish. It was like fish and chips fish, only not as good. The rice that accompanied it was rather salty. I wouldn't eat here again, at least not if I had the choice.

Went into the bar on Sunday night with myself and two others. Besides two people at the bar the place was empty. I asked if they were still open and the bartender says yes and takes our drink orders. He wasn't very chatty which is fine, but he just gave off an awkward vibe. As we talked amongst ourselves for a few minutes, he says "last call" and turned off the TV, leaving us in a completely silent bar. If we knew he would just take our drink orders and close immediately, we wouldn't have ordered anything. Either way, just an awkward unpleasant drink.

Don't eat here. We had dinner here and it was the slowest, most inattentive service ever. It's the week of 4th of July... Why wouldn't they have scheduled more than one server? Our waitress was the only waitress and was running the bar too. Pretty view, slow service, food was just "ok".

Not horrible, but not that great either. We had some credit to use in the restaurant so we decided to try it out for dinner. We were seated promptly, the service all night was great actually. Our server kept our drinks filled and the food was brought out fast. I ordered the salmon and it was just alright. It was warm and mostly moist, problem is, it was sooo geasy. It was served with a decent portion of green beans and fingerling potatoes. Overall, I expected more for paying 20 bucks for it. My wife ordered a Mac & Cheese type dish and it was just plain gross. Pasta was overcooked and the whole dish was sitting in a bowl of grease. We decided to try some dessert and were left dissapointed again. I had a chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and my wife ordered cheesecake. Not much good about either of them. Overall I'm glad I tried it, but probably will not be back when there are to many other really good options in town for the same price.

Starfish Grill is like the Denny's of Best Western. Located on the first floor of the Best Western it is nothing spectacular. The decor struck me as out of date, but I couldn't quite place the era. The service ranged from poor to overworked. One of the mornings me and my friend waited ten minutes to be seated. Another time the waiter forgot our appetizer until after the main course was served. The food was good, but a bit overpriced on some items. It was alright.

Our family of 3 adults and two kids were impressed with the quality of the food. The food really seems home made, as opposed to coming from Sysco and prepared. Service in the main restaurant was great also.

Worse service ever, sat at a table 20 minutes before bartender even asked if I wanted to see a menu, I would understand if he was busy but 4 people on Barbie not busy.. Need to work on customer service

Miriam was fantastic. we came in at 3:30 w our two kids. kids are allowed in the bar 11-2 and the restaurant doesn't open till 5. ugh. they let us sit in the restaurant and gave us choice of menus. Miriam was attentive and was very friendly with our kids. chowder was good, prime rib dip and the local fish n chips not so good. would have given the food a two star rating and service a 5!

Starfish Grill (which is different than Rookies Pub): Food was delivered HOT and quality of everything was fantastic. Place was a bit confusing to find at first bc nowhere does it say they are located I side the Best Western. The music playing in the restaurant was adorable... I felt like I was sitting in a garden in France at a tea party :]

This is a review by a vegetarian This is a review of Rookie's Pub Very good place to watch a game. Many, large, well-positioned, new TVs. Unlike most basement dwelling sports bars, this one has light from large window facing on Agate beach (it's only underground on the uphill side). Salad was pretty decent and there's a free popcorn from a machine. Service was friendly and prompt. Not sure I'd consume a real meal here but I'd kill time on the deck or watch a game (way better viewing environment than at Szabo's). Why do places use high-backed stools at table? does anyone prefer them over actual chairs?

Have eaten here twice. Once in the Starfish Grill for Din with my Folks a year ago, once staying at the Hotel and room service last week after my water main broke! Had great service both times, home-made breads and salad dressings, timely delivery of food. Linen tablecloths in the restaurant...but agree that some of the food items are just a tad overpriced. Will go back....

Rookie's Bar was fine--just ordered drinks. Fast service, waitress was friendly. My complaint is with the Starfish Grill. We went there for breakfast before checking out. I had two $3 off coupons from a package deal to use. I feel like breakfast is hard to screw up but this place managed to do that. First, our waitress was invisible and not very good. I ordered coffee and she never brought it. I eventually flagged down another server to get it. He brought the coffee but no cream, so I had to ask again for cream and wait. Second, STILL no waitress. Finally, breakfast arrived. Boyfriend got an omelet and he said it was pretty good but the potatoes that came with them were nearly raw. MY breakfast? Almost inedible. I ordered french toast. It came to the table cold. The syrup? It came in a package. Also cold. It was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a breakfast place. SKIP IT.

We are dinner here. The fries were not good and the salad was average at best. Much better places on the coast for dining

We ate dinner & 2 breakfasts at the starfish grill, over the weekend and every meal was amazing! All 3 servers were very friendly & service was fast & food was fresh and hot..very kid friendly,as well. We will be back here!! For dinner I highly recommend the hazelnut crusted halibut! One of the best dinners I have had in along time.

Great food and great service. We ordered seared salmon, well cooked and some chicken entree dish (with potatos). Both were really good and the bread served hot was good. Their clamchowder was good too.

We ate lunch here, and we regretted it. At lunch time, the starfish grill is closed, so you have to eat lunch in the pub. So, everything I have to say was experienced in the pub. Maybe the restaurant portion is nicer. The service was about the slowest I have ever seen. She had three tables, including us, yet it took her 20 minutes to bring us a menu, and another 20 minutes to come back and take our drink order. Then another 20 minutes to bring our appetizer and take our meal order, and another 20 minutes to bring our meal order. By the time we finished our meal, it was almost time for dinner. We should have saved our appetites for Panache. The onion rings were cold and over-battered. For lunch, I got Buffalo wings, because that's what I do. They were bad. They were breaded, and the breading was not cripsy, it was just thick, greasy, and burned. The sauce had a bad taste and a worse color. All in all the dish was offensive to the mouth. My wife got a burger that was too dry, unseasoned, and served with no condiments. The menu makes the "agate beach burger" sound good, but it is not. It's just a plain, crappy burger. Boo!

I received a four-star dinner delivered via two-star service. I ordered the crab cakes, which I rarely do because they are such a gamble in restaurants. In a word: delicious. No filler, just tons of crab meat, much of it in large pieces. Well-seasoned and well-flavored. The accompaniments were very tasty. I arrived and waited to be seated, behind another party who were also waiting to be greeted. I waited to place my order. I waited for my salad. I waited for my check. The staff were inattentive but friendly. On the way out, I spotted a large pepper mill that no one had used throughout service. I was staying at the hotel and dining alone. I felt ignored through the whole experience. I can't say exactly that this was the reason, but it sure felt that way.

We went to Starfish Grill, because we were staying in an ocean view room at Best Western, and OH MY GOODNESS. The clam chowder was some of the BEST I've had in my life. My husband had the chicken cordon bleu, that was amazingly yummy as well. Nancy was our server and was a very nice lady. Soft spoken and super sweet. Next time we vacation in Newport, we will return. The service was amazing, the food was amazing, and we had a great view of the beach.

I will say that the chowder was pretty dang good. However...the fish tacos were awful. The batter was old and the fish was rubbery. The only thing on the tacos were some red cabbage, rubbery fish and cotija cheese. They were incredibly dry, paired with that nasty fish? We sent it back. My husband ordered a club sandwich with fries. The fry batter tasted old or like maybe they were freezer burnt store bought frozen fries and the sandwich barely had a dabble of mayo in the center of the bread, cut 4 ways. The view from the deck is breathtaking but sure glad I ordered the chowder other wise I would've lwft starving.

I had the shrimp fettuccine alfredo, and it was delicious. My wife had the chicken pasta, which was also good. It's not a place I would go out of my way to eat at, but if you are staying nearby, it's a good place to try.

Fantastic Oregon Bay Shrimp Parmesan Alfredo! Friendly staff. Great view. Happy vibes and I like how the hotel / walk way to the beach is right there. Love looking at the sunset during my meal. Will definitely be coming back!

The view and service are the reason for 4 stars. Nancy was doing everything (hostess, server, busser, cashier) and she did it with a smile and efficiently. The food was average. I ordered the parmesan crusted halibut ($29.50) that had fresh veggies and a starch (rice or herb crusted red potatoes) with a starter (soup or salad). All was very good. There was fresh baked bread on the table with lots of butter. The dessert-crumble that varies daily-was super yummy (got it to go). Seating: 2 levels with 5 steps at each level. Top level you cannot see the ocean. All tables with chairs with arms. Lower Level has 5 booths, 5 tables with chairs with arms, then 6 tables with armless chairs. Lower Level -all tables can see the ocean. There is an enclosed and open patio all with plastic chairs that have arms.

Oh no, can't believe it, they changed the menu again and all the great food items are gone, replaced with what looks like frozen stuff (zuke chips) , that is unhealthy. Please bring back the Veggie Wraps. I give it 2 stars because the bar tender is one of the best in the area, the view is great, and we love their wine, but please change the menu back to the original. We also would like to see the Greek Salad added back to the menu, more healthy stuff. Thanks.

$6.50 fruit plate for breakfast was a joke (photo shows all). Two thins slices of cantaloupe, two thin slices of honeydew, two tiny pieces of pineapple, and two itty bitty thin slices of orange - outrageous for the price! My partner had purchased a cinnamon roll with a side of fruit for $4.50 and there was substantially more fruit. I'm happy to purchase fruit, but this was so very disappointing. I'm giving the restaurant three rather than one or two stars because the service was very nice.

We had Easter brunch today and everything was first class from the food thru the service. I thought the price was very good. We will be back.

I received attentive service from Piero, a beautiful ocean view, a clean simple elegant atmosphere, and a delicious top sirloin steak cooked exactly they way I ordered! The fresh baked bread basket was a plus. I substituted extra veggies for the potato or rice without a problem. What a relaxing place to dine. I will be back.

The food is good for an in hotel restaurant but the service is unbelievably excellent. Piero may be the greatest waiter of all time. Seriously. He definitely makes the atmosphere of this restaurant, although the view of the coast is breathtaking.

I am not sure why we continue as consumers to eat in hotel restaurant most of the ones we try are not good. This being said we ate at the starfish grill last night. I had the prime rib with red roasted potatoes and vegetables my husband had beer battered fish and chips. The prime rib was ok, but the red roasted potatoes and the vegetables and the fish were all over cooked and the coleslaw was just chopped up cabbage not much flavor. Our server was very friendly and was in join a ball. At least they carried 14 hands merlot for a wine thank goodness that is basically what babeour server was very friendly and was in join a ball. At least they carried 14 hands merlot for a wine. Would not recommend.
