Cute place, good lunch selection, just tried a mocha and one of their baked goods, both very good except I wish the whipped cream was real. Will come back to try sandwiches and soup, they ran out of soup on this rainy day.

I have been going to the Coffee Cottage for years! Everything they serve is yummy, especially their scone! They have just in the last week or so done some much needed redecorating with great new lighting. What a big welcomed change! You will be happy you stop by!!

This is the only café that I go to in town. Whether it's for chatting with the baristas, enjoying quality drinks or food, spending time with friends, or all of the above, this is where I go. The food is reasonably priced, but the drink prices are almost too good. One price for any size of tea? Can't really beat that!
(5)Katharine C.
Best coffee place in Newberg. Staff is super friendly, food and drinks are great. Owners are brilliant. I feel Newberg can do with WAAAAY less coffee places - especially as long as we have this one. I've lived in Newberg my entire life, and still think this place is the best.
(5)Claire P.
I love coffee cottage! It's a nice, short walk from GFU's campus, and has great coffee! I usually get some kind of latte, tea or a smoothie. Pros: -Close to campus -Great Coffee -Nice atmosphere -Good food -Free Wifi -Outdoor seating -Friendly & helpful baristas -Good dairy-free options
(5)Kristofer B.
Great coffee shop and love their drive thru! They have great baked goods! Fresh baked scones daily, (get there at like 5am!) Fresh fruit smoothies and amazing coffee! Love this place and it is a great local business!
(5)D S.
Very good atmosphere, with pleasant people behind the counter. I always enjoy their coffee and the smile they provide when they welcome me in their coffee shop.
(3)Melanie C.
Wandered into this place looking for some breakfast - hoping to have something more substantial than pastries, and was ecstatic to find a good selection of breakfast paninis, wraps, burritos, and quiche, along with amazing freshly made in-house pastries, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and marionberry scones. Scones were moist, full of flavor, and delicious! And the cinnamon roll was delicious, too. Thank you for a great breakfast and start to our day. Oh, and the friendly service was the "icing on the cake", so to speak.
(5)Anne F.
This place is like a 2nd home. Great food, awesome smiles, everyone that works there tries to get to know you... You are just always welcome!
(5)Lexxs S.
The food at Coffee Cottage is so good! The lunch is excellent and anything on the menu is guaranteed to be good, but it is a little pricey. The coffee is not quite as good, but it is still above average. The best drink on the menu is by far the London Fog (steamed milk, vanilla, and earl grey tea) and it is pretty cheap: about $3 with a tip. The books are fairly cheap and they have a really good selection. The art is by local artists and rotates every couple of weeks. Its a really pretty place with friendly people and excellent items.

They should change their name to "Food Cottage" or "Yumminess Cottage" b/c it's the tasty goodies that should be presented with a badge of honor, not the coffee. Yes, they make they own coffee right next door but it's 2nd place to Chapters in town but #1 for bakery goodies. You go in thinking, "Oh, I'll just have tea" but then end up drooling over their warm fresh in-store baked locally sourced goodies sitting on their counter pleading with you to adopt them...into your stomach. Then you sit outside (lovely patio with a cover in case of fickle Oregon rain or grassy side) and enjoy people-watching. By this time (2-3 hrs later) you need some another goody and one to-go. Seriously. I know. Pros: - Did I mention the baked goods yet? Did you forget? They also have sandwiches, quiches, weekend brunches - these are a bit spendy but it is quite awesome - Yerba-mate tea: Oh my goodness. I've tried to get this other places and they don't know how to make it right. I was introduced to it at Coffee Cottage and it's my go-to drink here. Have them steep it in soymilk and honey. It's nutty, healthy, and so good. - Independently owned local shop - love that! They were the 1st coffee shop in Newberg way back in the day. - Drive-thru window is next door and convenient (closes earlier than the main part) - Conference room is free to rent with paid drinks (in the drive-through house) - Free wifi - Friendly staff - super nice and some of them have become my friends - Ask for a punch card so that you can eventually get a free drink - Seating indoors is in a converted house, super cute Cons: - Coffee is strong and bitter (I'm a foo foo coffee drinker, so what do I know) - A bit dark indoors but the seating is away from the coffee machines so it's not as noisy Newberg has a few sit-down coffee shops but they all have a different twist to make each unique. Check them out and decide what you like!

A cosy place of lively conversation & students at work (adjacent to Geo. Fox U). Coffee was fairly good, though the profile was a bit "bright" for my own tastes.
(3)Bob N.
I've been to nearly every coffee spot in the county, and while the wifi doesn't reach the outdoor patio very well and indoor seating is very occasionally unavailable due to popularity, this is about as good as it gets. The wifi is the fastest and most reliable I can find, the staff is friendly, the food tastes fresh and flavorful, and the coffee tastes great, whether iced, hot, or blended. They even have a few vegetarian and vegan options. While some items are a little bit above the average price, the quality makes it well worth it. The only thing you should keep in mind is that the deli is only open until 3 pm, and after that, your food choices are limited. Additionally, local musicians play acoustic sets Friday nights and a few of them have music featured and on sale near the counter at all times. Often filled with college students, the Cottage has an indie, studious atmosphere to it, making it an ideal place to relax. If I could think of a better coffee shop in the area, I'd tell you about it.
(5)James H.
great service & absolutely unbeatable coffee. The best thing in Newberg...no joke. The roasting is done so well that no other coffee shop has black coffee that compares in flavor, quality, and consistency. It will be hard when i move soon to find a place that will even come close.
(5)Evan B.
Okay, here's the deal with Coffee Cottage. I went to George Fox, just down the road from this place, then moved away for 5 years and now live nearby again. This is a great coffee shop for college students, especially ones not from the west coast. If you're even remotely a coffee snob this place sadly disappoints. For the price you pay for coffee I would expect microfoam, maybe even latte art, but it's the same quality as Starbucks IMO. College students and professors both frequent this spot and the community that this place fosters is why it is cool. Live music, good food. I just think that a coffee shops first responsibility is to just that- the coffee, which is why I can't give it a higher rating. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you attend GFU.
(3)Jana C.
Love love LOOOVE the brunch here...it's perfectly prepared....perfect portions. Our service was waaaaaaaaaay bungled, and it took 30 mins or so to be served al fresco. Thank goodness for that gooey pecan roll and OJs that tied us over. Ordered: breakfast panini with wonderful eggs, bacon----and a chipotle mayo salsa breakfast quesdailla....perfect grill marks on the tortilla quarters, and wonderful buttery crunch to the panini. PS Though we chose to eat outside, in the courtyard, there are many tables inside. As well, free WIFI
(5)Michelle B.
really good! the espresso is smooth and just right. the quiche delicious. nice seating outside.
(5)James H.
I loved the ambiance and the warm feel of the employees. The coffee is spot on and the milk alternatives are numerous and unfound elsewhere. The Marionberry Scone was amazing and I look forward to returning when were back in town!
(5)Aeric E.
Had a tasty shot of espresso. They roast their own coffee. Great study space. Not sure about wifi speed. The drip coffee was only lukewarm which was a bummer. I would recommend this as a local study location.
(3)Alexandria D.
Not to bad

We needed to eat something while in the middle of wine tasting and were on a bit of a time crunch. Sandwiches would take 20 minutes to make which was 20 minutes we didn't have so we both got the sun dried tomato/artichoke quiche. I have to say I wasn't really impressed. The quiche was quite salty and I didn't really Ike the vibe inside either of the cafe. Menu looked good and the service was so-so; somewhat on the impatient side. We picked the Coffee Cottage because it had gotten good reviews on Yelp....so maybe we were on this miss this time around.
(3)Lee L.
Hazel nut, vanilla mocha what a way to start your day, friendly service, meet new students checking out George Fox Collage, grabbed a scone, meet some friends walking through Wow Busy morning
(4)Heather H.
Great coffee. Had an 8 oz mocha which had 2 shots of espresso. I enjoy the fact that the small size still had 2 shots. The mocha was a bittersweet chocolate (which I verified before ordering) so was delicious and not too sweet. The service was a bit slow but I can overlook this since I'm on vacation and it is a small coffee shop in Newberg, OR. I didn't expect to receive my coffee in record time as I do when I show up at Starbucks in NJ.
(4)Tuesday M.
I love coming here every Sunday - I always get an Otis with 4 shots and it has been fabulous every time except once - It seems like if you catch them at a very busy point in the day, they rush through the orders and to be honest, it was a pretty bad cup of joe, but considering every other time I wanted to makeout with the baristas and my coffee, they are totally forgiven. Its a super cute little shack with outdoor seating and lots of lounge-y like spots.
(5)Kay L.
Great place to hang/work with a nice latte.
(4)Renata S.
Best coffee in town! A great Portland area coffee shop with a casual atmosphere, great scones and other treats and excellent coffee. Come in the morning and get their pastries fresh and warm. The staff is always really friendly and accommodating. Their lunch options are also delicious!
(5)Daniel S.
I am not a super-Hipster coffee aficionado by any means but I can appreciate good when I get it. Their coffee is brewed with a sense of pride which is evident in the fact they are a staple in the local community. The food they offer is both good and made with good quality ingredients. The atmosphere is fun as it is right on the main drag but nestled in a little thicket of trees insulated from the hustle and bustle of the world. It's a converted old house which is quite charming and warm on the inside. The selling point for me are the staff. They are super friendly and extremely professional. If you're super lucky you'll get taken care of by a Beautiful girl with curly hair and her signature bandana. She takes as much pride in what she serves as Ralph Nader does in the Environment. Her warm smile and knowledgable coffee wisdom will help even the most indecisive coffee drinker find just the right fit. She and her fellow baristas are quick with a welcoming smile and really get the lead out to ensure no customer waits longer than is absolutely necessary. For all this I highly recommend if your passing through Newberg get a java pick me up at the Coffee Cottage!
(5)diahann d.
Friendliest service in Newberg!!! This place rocks! Not only is the TUNA SALAD to die for, but all of their Gluten Free delights were great!! If you stop in, be sure to try the Zebra!
(5)Sage A.
A great place to hunker down on a rainy day and read a book.
(5)Rex S.
This is probably the best coffee house I've been to over the years. They always carry the greatest hand roasted coffees of the world. While I don't care at all for espresso drinks, lattes, and pastries; I hear those are pretty decent as well. If you truly love a real cup of black coffee, these guys deliver. Coffee Cottage was recently expanded to include a drive thru. Forget the Starbucks and every other little coffee shack, Coffee Cottage is by far the best for fresh roasted coffee, the nuances and flavors of the brews is amazing, the Red Hills and Black Morpheus are superb! All free-trade coffees if that's important to you. Sometimes the drive thru line can be long, you can just pull right up to the front door, leave the car running, run in and grab a cup, fill it up, drop your quarters into the dish, and be back on the road in less than 30 seconds! I do this a lot. You can really taste the different blends and roasts here. Nice DARK coffee yet in no way bitter like Starbucks (which I happen to actually enjoy as well). They have an excellent variety of coffees to purchase for home, and I believe they might do their own roasting. A true connoisseur's coffee house. They also have a ton of baked goods, sandwiches, books, and a very pleasant cozy old house amtosphere. My only gripe would be the long lines at times (popular with George Fox kids) in the mornings.
(5)Mike K.
Excellent coffee, excellent food, really nice people and a cool place to hang out!
(5)Shay N.
i just had their coffee and WOW....apparently they make their own but the three coffee drinks we ordered were lights out good. We had breakfast there too and it was wonderful. The scones are addicting so beware my friends.
(4)Tiffany B.
We have been coming here for over 10 years now, absolutely love everything about it. Great coffee, the BEST coffee milkshakes this side of Portland, and of course the food....yummy, yummy food. From brunch to lunch and everything in between, always a favorite place of ours....oh and the staff is always so friendly too!
(5)Jenny G.
I honestly don't know why everyone loves this place. I will admit that on a sunny summer morning, you can't beat the outdoor seating, but most visits to the Coffee Cottage leave me quite underwhelmed. First of all, I don't really care for their coffee, and it is far more expensive that other shops in town. Because I prefer a smoother tasting brew, I generally add a flavoring and end up with a sickeningly sweet drink. (If you don't like a super sweet drink, be sure to ask for less syrup!). The staff is "ok." They are willing to go a friendly, extra mile, but only if you ask. The interior has the potential for a lot of charm, but somehow falls short. We were there a couple of nights ago and the lighting felt a bit harsh and the paint and cosmetic details could use a little TLC. However, if you are looking for a coffee shop in Newberg that is one past 7pm, Coffee Cottage is still your best bet.
(2)Brecken E.
Great little coffee place!
(4)Kathi L.
A little taste of heaven! This is a busy little shop that is super cute and is the best coffee house around. Coffee had great flavor and was not overly sweet and syrupy. Hubby and I really enjoyed the homemade scones. The atmosphere is relaxing and homey. Lots of locals come here and it's fun to people watch and listen to the banter.
(5)Rob Z.
Love Coffee Cottage--it is near the end of my commute from Portland to McMinnville, and I will gladly pass by Starbucks or Dutch Bros in order to hold out for an espresso here. The smoky, rich coffee taste can't be beat by any local competitor, plus they roast their own beans! Drive-thru has very friendly baristas; they are quick and efficient. I am lucky that I arrive before the morning rush--you may encounter longer lines after 7am, both in the drive-thru and walk-in. I can't comment on the meal service, but I understand the baked goods are made in-house and are tasty. Hard to have a bad coffee experience here.
(5)Mark K.
I love coffee cottage! They're always friendly, a great way to start your day!
(5)Dorothy S.
The most yummy goodies - love their marionberry scones straight from the oven. Their coffee is delicious too and they have a drive thro' and a bookshop! It's the best thing about Newberg.
(4)Jenny J.
My favorite iced mocha in town. Love the salads, quiches, and desserts. And they always have a few gluten free options. The staff is friendly but not obnoxiously so like some other drive through coffee shops in town. I always look forward to stopping here.
(5)Lauren G.
Came here for a quick lunch on the way to wine country. Got the veggie sandwich and it was so delicious. Looking forward to going back.
(4)David M.
Great coffee. I didn't have a chance to try their pastries, but they smelled wonderful. Did I mention GREAT coffee? I did? Good.
(4)Aaron S.
Nice atmosphere and cute place with a nice outdoor patio. Unfriendly to a couple gentlemen on motorcycles as they were politely enjoying their quiche on the patio.
(2)Cassidy H.
Newberg is a college town. We have so many coffee shops, I'm not even sure I could count them, but the Coffee Cottage is by far the best. It's a bit pricier than most of the others, but the atmosphere makes it worth the extra. The food and drink are fairly good, but the outside seating and back area with local art and mosaic style wall borders are fantastic.
(4)Mike P.
Espresso snobs: you MUST try Cottage Coffee. I found this unassuming little place on the way to the coast and was really blown away at the quality of their espresso. I told the female barista that I was a purist and wanted her best shot. This girl knew her coffee. The resulting shot was topped with beautiful crema and a taste that unfolded from sweet cocoa to bittersweet chocolate and finished bright and acidic. One of the best shots I had in Oregon...in three years of living there. Newberg(onians)? are lucky to have an independent business that's fighting the good fight and providing some great coffee.
(5)Ana C.
I come here all the time. They always make my coffee perfect. Love that they use their own coffee beans, are Eco-friendly and fair trade.
(5)Molly I.
I'm never disappointed when I come here! Everything, from straight espresso to lattes and cappuccinos, is made well. Even the food is fantastic and the people are friendly. Bonus points for the cozy environment! This is one of my favorite places for coffee. Hands down.
(5)Aubrey F.
One of my favorite places in town for coffee. They have their own unique taste & friendly, talented baristas. You must try the scones. All their baked goods are made there in house & are delicious. The only thing I don't love is that all the hardwood makes it a bit noisy. Don't ever be talking about something you don't want someone else to overhear! If you need a meeting space, check out their separate building. They also have a drive through! Often they have all the same pastry options as inside.
(5)Jen A.
So incredibly overpriced. I'm always taken aback when I see their menu board and price list, it makes me want to just go in the bathroom and drink from the faucet. However... Their coffee is AMAZING. I love it. I just only make in once every 3 years these days.
(3)Melinda O.
I am a Newberg native, who, sadly, moved out of state. I go to Coffee Cottage whenever I am back in town, and I'm happy to say that it is as much of a gem now as it was then. Their coffee (freshly roasted next door) is divine, their food delicious, and their service is always friendly. I can always count on the Coffee Cottage for a wonderful atmosphere to sit and recall the days when I was lucky enough to live in the 'berg, for a lovely lunch on the back patio, or for a quick cup of coffee before, sadly, getting back on the road. Highly recommended.
(5)Halie P.
They stop serving salads and sandwiches at 3, which was a dissapointment when I came in at 330, very hungry. Anyways, I ordered a breakfast wrap and a miniature smoothie. Although it was pretty good, not astounding, it didn't merit the price of 13 dollars. I like Coffee Cottage but my experience there is hit and miss.
(3)Paul B.
This is my favorite coffee place. I've been coming here for twenty years! Great coffee, good friends, good food. If I ever move from Newberg, I'll still have to come back here for coffee.
(5)Jeffrey R.
Quaint. Creative. Comfortable. These are three words which could describe Coffee Cottage. I've been to this little cafe three or for times in the last four years, and have yet to be disappointed. The staff has always been friendly and inviting, even when dealing with small children during the Saturday morning rush. Coffee Cottage does have typical coffee shop fare in the form of scones and muffins, but where their culinary creativity really shines is their brunch menu. I've had mascarpone-stuffed French toast, chipotle breakfast wraps, and quiches -- all of which were masterfully prepared. This morning I had a wonderful pesto egg scramble chock full of red potatoes, peppers, and grilled onions (served with toasted slices of focaccia. It was like an exploded breakfast sandwich -- and it was delicious. Oh yeah, I guess since this is a coffee shop, I should mention that my vanilla latte was also very good. The place is not huge, but our family of four has always found a place to sit. There are books for kids to look at (and purchase), games to play, and a great mosaic tile chair rail full of all kinds of interesting things. Be sure to ask for the kids menu, as the brunch menu items generally have a more adult flare to them. The one criticism I would have is that space at the ordering counter is a little tight, which creates bottle necks. But when you're dealing with an old house, I don't know what the other option would be. It's not a big enough deal to really affect my rating -- it still gets five stars.
(5)Dino D.
Wanted to like this independent coffee house, but the drip coffee was very weak and served out of an air-pot. Did not try the espresso drinks. Peet's is much better.
(2)Jackie C.
I had high expectations of this place after reading the ratings, but was really disappointed. My husband & I arrived on a Saturday morning slightly before 9a. There was one party of 3 ahead of us line, so it was a fairly short wait to order. The counter server was extremely friendly, but the service was exceptionally slow. It took a painful amount of time to get our 1 coffee. Then, we waited another 20 minutes to get our heated, pre-made breakfast wraps. The food was bland, and nothing special. Perhaps, we should have ordered some decedent pastry, but I don't know that I'd go back to take that chance.
(2)Brenda A.
The best coffee and pastries in Newberg.
(5)Nate D.
The food is all very very good. The staff are incredibly nice and go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. They roast their own coffee and it is really good! Every coffee drink I have ever had has been very good. They also have a really good selection of teas. Overall this is a place is that is definitely worth frequenting in Newberg!
(5)Chris D.
Good food. You serve yourself. Low brow and easy going atmosphere. I had the corned beef hash and wife had french toast. She really liked the whipped cream with cinnamon. Kid friendly.
(4)Kathy M.
Great coffee and scones, however they never plan very well on their specials. On 3 occasions we have attempted lunch, and they are always out. 3 strikes and your out! Still return for coffee, but not for meals. I actually laughed after they took our money and we waited for 10 minutes to come tell us they were out. My husband and I were not shocked. I have set my expectations low for their meals. We wasted 15-20 minutes of our time waiting.. We got our money back and ate lunch elsewhere. Bummer!!!
(3)Aaron F.
On Highway 99 to visit my sister in McMinnville, she recommended this cafe (and Chapters). I own two cafes myself, so I knew she wouldn't recommend it off hand. I liked the small town feel and the barista was very approachable (an experience often hard to come by in SE or NW Portland). He went to pull our shots and a gal down the counter said 'Hey, they're running a bit fast today'. The barista, as he should, said 'I'll have to make a few adjustments to get it right'. I had a Brazilian coffee (Fazenda, I believe) that made a nice double 8 oz. latte. Well done. For a coffee roaster they seemed to be a bit heavy on sandwiches too, but I thought the coffee I received was well executed. Well done. A nice surprise.
(4)Jeanne B.
This place is known by locals for its treats, we learned upon moving here. Well I ordered a pumpkin scone one afternoon and it was dry, over baked and whatever they put in it was burnt on the bottom. I didn't enjoy it and it has spoiled my desire to stop in. My negative emotional response to this experience, which was a let down, is buffered by my logical side to not trash an establishment based on a single item on a single occasion. Therefore three stars instead of two. Since its located on the south side of a busy rd (99) and easy to miss the drive through or parking likely, they've missed an opportunity to win a devoted customer.
(3)Brian C.
One of my favorite places to get coffee in town. I like the decor. But, the only time I stay is to study. And, as time went on, the less I stayed there. The wood floors make it really loud when it gets full (and it does at night). Even with my noise canceling headphones on and music playing, I can hear what's going on around me. I guess it'd be nice to go there and talk. My friends and I just prefer to do it on a porch with beer. I was glad that it was open later than other coffee shops in town (11pm M-F during the school year). Bailed me out when I procrastinated and needed some productivity juice to fuel my BS machine. Still, I stopped by almost regularly last year. Work was close, so I'd go with coworkers to get our caffeinated beverage. I like their lattes. They go well with the damp, depressing, gray NW climate. Even my coffee snob Portland scenester friend approved, so there you go. I haven't tried their food, so I can't comment on that.
(4)Emmy L.
Really great food, cute bookstore and shop but the service is so slow it makes me think twice about coming back for lunch (35 minutes for 4 counter ordered sandwiches) but if you are not in a rush this is a great spot. Coffee and deserts are the quick solution!
(4)Heidi J.
Okay, as someone who is gluten free and dairy free, being at Coffee Cottage is my taste-buds' Nirvana! The Wine-Country Panini on grilled GF bread (no cheese) is incredibly delicious and my "usual," as the delightful staff knows, but then I still allow myself room for a wonderful mocha made with coconut milk, and - when I'm really being naughty - the GF Pecan Bar, which is TO DIE FOR!!!! YES, I KNOW it has butter in it, but we all have our weaknesses, right!??? And I didn't have cheese on the panini, so that counts for something...I think... (Before I had Celiacs, my favorite treat was their Marionberry scone, warmed with butter. YUM!).
(5)Jennifer B.
Its a cozy little cottage, that is perfectly inviting to pull up a chair and sip on a yummy coffee, latte, tea etc. The food is absolutely delish!!! It leaves you wanting to come back for more! It's a must stop if you are driving through town and a frequent stopping place if you live in Newberg.
(4)Sharon A.
Go for the coffee stay for the lunch. I have to say I've never been disappointed with the Coffee Cottage. It's my stopping place on the way to Lincoln City from Portland. Friday I made sure to stop there for the great coffee, and since it was close to lunch time I decided to order something to tide me over. I ordered the daily special a Philly Chicken cheese sandwich. It was excellent. The chicken was tender and the spices were right on. Next time I know I'll be not only stopping for the great coffee but the fantastic food as well.
