Drove in late on a Friday night the family was starving and we were looking for some food to fill our empty traveler tummies. Saw the open sign in the window and decided to give it a try. The place was quaint and small but very clean. We were seated immediately by our server. The menu looked great and we ordered right away. Our food arrived promptly and was very visually appealing. We all ordered different menu items and they were all fantastic. Very fresh ingredients were used in all of our dishes. I would be hard pressed to see this place receive anything less than 4 stars. Of course I have not tried the lunch or breakfast menu but I'm sure they would not disappoint.

Very disappointed. Went to eat there on a Sunday at 4:30 and they would only seat me at the bar tops even though there were many open tables inside and out. So I said "no thank you" and went across the street to the bistro which has a lovely back patio with open table seating.

I loved this place and I was so sad when they closed but as we were driving back from Pacific City, the YS said, hey the door is open. So, we turned around and found that this place is back in service and from the looks of the reviews here it has been for a while. Beautiful day today on the beach so we sat outside and had quick, efficient table service even though they had quite a few people to service outside and more came in while we were there. We ordered a large half and half pizza. So good and plenty left over to take back to the house. I'm so excited you guys are back! I'll be back again!

Unfortunately as much as we wanted to try this place, we couldn't understand why is it that even though they have a very nice patio they can't serve breakfast there... They will serve lunch there however... So if we waited only 15 minutes we could have had lunch on the patio. Problem is it was 10:45 and we just wanted breakfast in the sun. Wow, really? They seriously couldn't serve us breakfast? It's a ridiculous reason to let a customer walk away. Their reasoning was that their kitchen couldn't accommodate the extra seating. And I was thinking this girl doesn't realize we are still only one table, whether we sit in or out as they already had their doors wide open to the patio.

LOVE. Our first time to Neskowin having lived in Portland for 25 years. I wanted to go the night before for pizza, but we decided to have a picnic instead on the fabulous beach, so we went there for breakfast yesterday. Food was absolutely fantastic. The server was so friendly and efficient, and it is such a cozy and cute place. If we're ever in Lincoln City, we'll drive up here to eat. Cottage fries with ham, cheese, and onions were spectacular (get an egg or two on top!). Biscuit was to die for. Coffee was strong and yummy. I could see the wood-fired oven going from our table so it was like having a fireplace! I can't wait to go back and have the rest of the menu.

I really want this place to be great considering it is right next to my favorite beach on the OR coast. I have spent my money here several times before hoping and wishing, however it must be said that the PIZZA HERE IS JUST PLAIN AWFUL! We just had the veggie pizza and the vegetables were completely raw (sliced peppers, onions, button mushrooms, canned olives with slices of tasteless hothouse tomatoes!) and even worse still is that the pizza dough was raw too. So for $20 we were presented with a 13" undercooked pizza topped with raw unseasoned veggies, very mediocre pre-shredded-cheese-from-a-bag (which too was hardly melted) and a nondescript pizza sauce- an epic failure considering what a proper wood fired pizza can and should be. It's a real shame that the owners would invest in an actual wood fired pizza oven that clearly no one on staff knows how to use. Oversold and underwhelmed. Please note that the service was very friendly and attentive, and that the atmosphere is great. Based on the quality of the pizza alone, when compared to the prices they are charging and to the taste of a wood fired pizza from ANYWHERE else, a 1 star review would be generous. The 2nd star here is solely for the FOH effort & setting. Cheers

Previously the famous Hawk Creek Cafe, The Cafe on Hawk Creek has had a face-lift inside and out and is firing up the wood fueled pizza oven for a July 1st opening. If you missed the old cafe you are going to very happy with the new incarnation. NEW PHONE # 503-392-4400.

I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner here and every time it was delicious! The salads are huge, the pizzas are tasty and the huevos rancheros are amazing!!!
(5)Susan A.
A great Mother's Day weekend in Neskowin. Pizza on Friday and Grilled chicken salad on the deck Sunday night. Wonderful as always!
(5)Elizabeth R.
We are from Portland and had a great meal here on our way back home. The food was delicious and the people in the kitchen have such a mellow, nice vibe about them as they work.
(4)Steve D.
Lunch menu is a bit sparse. Looking forward to trying breakfast. Took a pizza home for later and it was fantastic! You know pizza is good when you wake up in the morning and your first thought is "pizza for breakfast!"
(4)Jae Woo K.
Located in a perfect tiny city on Oregon coast. Good food, good service, greaat atmosphere. Nothing to complain.
(5)El Raul S.
Nice area, cozy place, friendly staff. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and they were decent. Coffee was good and kept on flowing (free refills).
(3)David H.
Hawk's Creek is back and thats great news for those of us who live on the coast. The wood fired pizza oven is pumping out heaven in a pie. The menu is good for new startup and it will only grow. Good wine list and many beers on tap.The staff seems to be working real hard to make this shop shine. Clean and bright. If you're in a hurry go to MickyDs , otherwise slowdown and relax its the coast. We will going back alot.
(5)Jay K.
I was glad to see that this had reopened without changing the good vibe of the place, it's a great gathering place for the village. I always look forward to that long walk down the beach to chow down on a pizza. Best seat in the house is at the bar in front of that wood fired oven! It seems like the new owners have beefed up the wine selection which is nice since we are so close to the heart of pinot valley. If only I didn't have to walk back up the beach after dinner is over...

We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with a memorable meal. The best pizza! Friendly staff and super talented chef. Can't wait to try breakfast! Just opened last Friday and the word is out. People were lined up to get in
(5)John R.
Very happy that The Cafe on Hawk Creek is back. The pizza is fantastic. The servers are very friendly. The atmosphere is fun, warm and inviting. A very good breakfast, lunch or dinner experience.

As always, this place exceeds our expectations. Once a staple during our dating 11 years ago, and every couple of years the last decade, we came back to Neskowin to stay for our 10 year wedding anniversary, as we were engaged on the beach. The service was outstanding. We got there early to beat the crowd (and to enjoy the sunset on the beach with a bonfire), and our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. We brought our own bottle of wine, despite their rather impressive wine list (for a coastal spot) because it was a gift. Corkage $10, standard. We knew what we wanted to order and our server returns with amazing news - the evening's specials. Freshly caught (that day) salmon prepared either grilled or poached, and an aged rib eye. I chose poached, as it has been years since I've done so. It was perfectly cooked, topped a lemon dill beurre blanc and accompanied by fresh steamed veggies. The portion was hearty, without being heavy. Teamed well with the incredibly fruit forward 05 Bergstrom Pinot Noir we brought. My husband is really picky about his steaks and he was so happy! It had the right amount of char, without being overdone and the inside was a rare side of medium rare, just as he requested. Garlic mashers and steamed veggies also done well. We honestly feel that this is one of the only places we know we can go and have consistently fantastic meals AND service. I just wished we didn't live 2+ hours away!

I will say that this review is pretty much strictly for the breakfast. We have eaten lunch here as well, but I will get to that later. Sue and I love Neskowin. It is one of our favorite places at the coast. We came here over the long holiday weekend to celebrate my birthday as well as to celebrate the long holiday weekend. While we were here we came to the Cafe on Hawk Creek for breakfast twice. It was that good. The first time we came we each had the Locals Favorite ($9.50). Two eggs any style, cottage potatoes, smoked ham, bacon or sausage, with choice of toast, English muffin or homemade biscuit. I went with the smoked ham and you should definitely go for the biscuit. Just my opinion, but homemade is a key word for me. The ham was a very good choice as a pretty substantial slice came with my meal. So much food and very filling. We ended up taking the biscuits to go with us as we didn't have enough room to eat everything. We also shared a small stack of their beer batter pancakes ($6.75). I don't think I had ever had beer batter pancakes before, but rest assured knowing that I will have them again. I believe I could actually taste some of the beer, but that might have been all in my head. On our way out of town we ordered a pizza here to go. We had been out to Neskowin for a day trip around the July 4th weekend and came here to order sandwiches to go. I had mentioned to Sue that it seemed like a lot of people were walking out of this place with pizzas. Thought maybe this was a gem pizza spot at the coast so we decided to try one for ourselves. About the pizza. Meh. We ate some of it out by the car (a large cheese pie with half onions and mushrooms $21.50) and we both were underwhelmed. It was soggy. That was the worst part. Didn't seem to be much in the way of red sauce on it either. To be honest, it tasted better after we got home and it had been sitting for a few hours. Probably not going to be my go to for pizza at the coast. 2 stars for the pizza. Do come here for the breakfast. We came a second time during our weekend out here and it was just as good.

You know I'm just so tired of places that assume since you're a tourist you don't deserve good service. We came with a party of 6, and were seated rather quickly. We sat on the patio, which is lovely and there was a lovely trio playing love music which was great also. We then sat for a very long time waiting for service. Our waiter finally came and we tried to order beer... Literally everything we asked for they didn't have (3 or 4 options in a row). He kept saying the menu we had was old. So why was it given to us? Then we waited again (lovely music and good company) a really long time for pitchers of beer. Like 30 minutes long time. It was draft, big something they were brewing in the back. Then our food came. It was pretty good. I had the Fiesta Chicken, which was really good. Two of our party ordered pizzas, which came 10-15 minutes after the other meals came, so don't order that if you're hoping to eat at the same time. Meal progressed and funny enough the server came back about 4 times after we had everything we needed (but never came by when we were waiting for everything at the beginning). And then the check came. Party of 6, we had 4 cards and offered to tell him the exact amounts for each card. No go, he made us feel terrible for having even thought of splitting the check (because who ever does that these days?) and told us we could either split it equally (incidentally just as easy technically as splitting it into the four parts we had offered) or just charge one card. And so Venmo became our hero for the day instead of the restaurant. Summary? Patio was great. Food was good. Service was bad and we walked away feeling more like tourisy burdens than customers of any value. Would not go back.

Very cosy little cafe. Superb breakfast and excellent service. Can't wait to sample their dinner menu.
(5)Camille G.
Perfect pizza, perfect patio, perfect place to dine! When my husband and I were there, there was live music on the patio, the sun was shining and everything we ate was absolutely scrumptious. We got coffee, the spinach dip (got both bread and chips to dip in it - both were delicious) and one of the pizzas. I highly recommend!
(5)Todd P.
Great staff and great service! I had been driving up the 101 all day and was looking for a place to stop for lunch. I randomly stopped here after pulling off the road and am so glad I did! This tiny cafe is perched next to a small creek that empties into the ocean. The building itself is small; if it's at all close to being a nice day, I'd recommend ordering lunch to go and following the creek down to where it drains. There is a cool (rather large) island of trees surrounded by the sand that the river flows around and the ocean mesmerizingly crashes into the fluffy beaches. If you're near Lincoln City this place is a must for a delicious and affordable meal.
(4)Jessalyn R.
Good food (yes, including fries not just chips). Four stars for the area. Low key and more upscale than larger, popular venues in the area. Thoughtful and informed beer and wine.
(4)Krista R.
We were here for breakfast last September and had a delicious breakfast out doors on the lovely patio. The food was perfect, egg scramble and coffee and the service was excellent. The view was also fabulous.
(5)Kristin S.
We have eaten here many times and will continue to do so. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, we've had it all and not been disappointed. Cinnamon rolls, wood fire pizza and fish n chips are some of our families favorites. It is a small restaurant in a small beach town, so sometimes there can be a wait. Be patient, it's not personal. ;)
(5)Dylan K.
Artichokes, chowders and fish and chips. But do yourself a favor, Try the pizza. The more unusual the better. I find myself trying to fit in 4 meals a day when I'm close by this heavenly restaurant.

My "breakfast alarm" sounded loudly as I was southbound on Hwy 101 in the early morning. My wife noticed the Farmer's Market on the west side of the highway, and my eyes were drawn to the small cafe across the street. Priorities: breakfast first, then a stroll through the Farmer's Market, followed by a walk on the beach with the dogs. We were greeted on entry, promptly seated, My simple breakfast of scrambled eggs, English muffin, potatoes, bacon strips and coffee got my day off to a fine start. My wife ordered something healthier (?) but every bit as tasty. The coffee was good, not great, but it was hot and wet, sufficient to trigger my pulse and to allow me to press on. I recommend the Cafe on Hawk Creek for breakfast. It's a small place and the economy of space within is fine for 2-4 people to enjoy breakfast and conversation. We look forward to our next visit!

I was looking for a place to stop and have something warm to drink when I happened on this small Cafe. Once inside, the friendly environment got my hunger juices going. Glad they did. Tried the soup of the day, a meatball soup. It was spectacular with fresh veggies and superb meatballs. Not enough to make a meal of, but an excellent appitizer. Had a hot choc which was delicious. Then went for a walk on the beach to the interesting lump of land called Proposal (tide was out) I'll be back!
(5)Corey M.
The cinnamon roll is humongous and delicious! Gooey, cinnamony goodness. I got the local favorite. Simple eggs, potatoes, choice of meat & bread. The bacon was delicious & just crispy enough. The eggs were poached perfectly. The homemade biscuit was also yummy. Definitely happy to find this on the way down from Astoria to Crescent City! The waitresses were also very kind!
(5)Aperle A.
What a great little place!!! The food was amazing and the service was great! They have wine and beer.
(5)Jennifer J.
I've come here two days in a row for the Huevos Rancheros. Best I've ever had and those potatoes are amazing. Coffee is quality too and waitress is a sweetheart. Now I want to come back for lunch. So nice to have a great place to eat in Neskowin.
(5)Jennifer H.
Tiny little café with fantastic breakfast and great service. This is not a cheap eats café, but the food is high quality and therefor the prices make sense. No kids meals (FYI), my kids shared an adult meal (they are 7 & 9) eggs, pancakes and bacon, and they were fine.
(4)Carol P.
I've only been here once. The cafe presents a sophisticated and attractive appearance, the food was every bit as good as the breakfasts I've been served at Pig 'n' Pancake, the service was lukewarm (I seated myself after someone nodded a head in the direction of an empty table, where I sat and waited for a menu, or coffee, or some sign that my arrival had registered), and the coffee was vile. As long as the Village Coffee Shoppe stays in business in Pacific City, I won't need to return.
(2)Candice D.
Yum! Fantastic! Small cute spot. We had the teriyaki chicken sandwich very tasty, and the wailing chicken sandwich, also really good. You won't be sad you stopped. One of the best meals we had driving the coast. Didn't try the pizza but it sure looked good!
(5)Julia E.
Had lunch here today and ordered the crab cake appetizer. Now I know crab is expensive but really two paper thin crab cakes especially dark (almost burnt) for $14.50? Overpriced for what I got and the service was spotty at best.
(2)Jeff F.
We ate at this restaurant a few days ago and the service was excellent - and the food was good. We are vacationing in Lincoln City for the month of August and have friends in town for a few days' visit - so we decided to go back, sit on the deck, have a glass of wine and a nice, peaceful lunch... Well, after a 45 minute wait and no one giving us any indication of when we might expect to get a table, we left, walked across the parking lot to the Beach Club Bistro and had a great meal, super service from Shannon and a good time. I hate being treated with indifference and rude people who are in the service business should not be allowed to operate a restaurant and take up space where someone who really cares about being friendly, helpful and cares about your business would do so. If you are vacationing in the Lincoln City area - don't bother visiting this establishment! BTW, the nice waitress who took care of us at our first visit doesn't work on the weekends, thus lousy service on a Saturday I guess...
(2)Evan S.
This charming restaurant/cafe was very pleasant to grab some quick coffee/tea and also sit down for a tasty meal. The servers are all very nice and the patio seating was very pleasant since it's right next to a small creek. There were all kinds of options of food to eat and there was even the option to have some rather fancy entrées for dinner. I went there for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed having locally caught snapper with a microbrew from Astoria. It's just great that the only place to go out to eat in Neskowin is this place.
(5)Art N.
Great meal and surroundings sitting out the deck. We had clam chowder, potatoes chunks were a little on the large size but good..... Cod fish and chips, Snapper fish sandwich. Jennifer was a great waitress. Very busy at dinner that starts at 5:00.
(4)Beth A.
Best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. Biscuit was moist, and gravy was so flavorful. Cute beach Resteraunt, friendly staff, clean and exactly what I look for. Clam Chowder was the best I've had at a Resteraunt and it was not watered down. It was creamy, buttery and PERFECT!!
(5)Heidi J.
Ordered two burgers to go, got grossly overcharged from what was on the menu. (Almost 40$ for two hamburgers) I wasn't the one who picked it up so by the time I looked at the recept it was too late. Also up charged 3.50 to sub a salad for the chips and only got a few pieces of lettuce and a tomato. No silverware, napkins or pickles on the berger that it was supposed to include. I was disappointed because the reviews were so great. Otherwise the berger was okay, a little plain. What happened here?
(1)Marika H.
Best breakfast on the coast! Eggs bacon and amazing biscuits with homemade strawberry jam and to top it off delicious coffee. If you are in Nescowin and you don't stop to eat...you are missing out! We will be back again and again!
(5)Ryan S.
Absolutely incredible little place. Almost always packed for dinner. The wood fired pizza is astounding! By far the best pizza I've ever eaten. Our favorite is the Thai Chicken, but the Athena and Deluxe pizzas are also superb. They also offer great local beer on tap from The Pelican, and have an awesome creme brûlée dessert! Make sure you get there early- it's sure to be full by 6 PM!
(5)Jessica K.
New owners? The transition seemed seamless to me. I have always loved stopping in here for a pint of Terminal Gravity after playing on the beach. It is tight quarters inside so grab a spot on the patio if it is nice. My biggest dilemma is always deciding between the scrumptious wood fired pizza, the seafood or the amazing looking sandwiches. Their chowder blows Mo's right out of the water and we would love to get the tartar sauce recipe. Portions are good, prices are typical for the beach and the service is pretty good. Don't forget to save room for dessert!
(5)Michael M.
An awesome family restaurant on a beach. Diamond in a rough. Very friendly staff. Food is fresh and delicious. Their Thai chicken pizza is to die for! They have traditional american breakfast in the mornings. Restaurant is very clean. Will be back next time!
(5)Jacob B.
Everything was excellent. Halibut, pizza, desert, & service was nice but a lil forgetful. Vacationing 10 miles away, but we will be back before we go home~Delicious!
(4)Lucy O.
This place is great! The fish tacos were fantastic. Highly recommend sitting on the patio and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
(5)Clarke H.
Tremendous food, wonderful folks, and an idyllic setting. Locals only. Please stay away if you're not from Neskowin.
(5)C R.
Typically we go here for the excellent wood fired pizza, but today we tried it for breakfast... I am so glad we did! The cinnamon roll was perfect, the beer pancakes amazing, and smoked salmon omelette super yummy! We will definitely be back again.
(5)Dan W.
Awesome staff. Great pizza. Perfect cafe in a perfect town. But they are the only game in town; so when it's busy, expect to wait a bit. We've always found their wait estimates for pizza to be right on, so why not just grab a beer and chill or walk out to proposal rock while you're table is getting ready? Oh, and to John R. who complained about his pizza being burned in a few spots...seriously? If you want Dominos, go to Dominos. You'll get the same un-burnt crust every time. This place cooks their pizza in a wood-oven for a reason... Oh, and they have breakfast now. And are open 8a-9p every day.
(5)Rusty D.
What a find. Pizza is the best. Order the deluxe. Beer is great - wine too. Salad and all is wonderful. We came from AZ and Minnesota. Owner and all people are delightful. You must go
(5)Luda F.
Great food, fabulous service. Waitress (Jessica) was very friendly. Food was absolutely delicious. Great Petit Sirah.
(5)Neen T.
I wish I was eating there right now. Best beach pizza in Oregon. Best biscuits too.
(5)D B.
Back on the block with almost the same great chars as before! The inside has spiffed and spit shined quite a bit, but the 'feel' is the same and that's a great thing. The patio has it's own menu and looks like it will be open way more often. The wait staff has been increased and the place was slammed, yet they had time to chat up my 12 year old grandson who swears the burger was the best he ever had. Wandered in on the first day they were opened and ... wait... did I hear, "Norm!!!!" when I ordered an IPA? Welcome back Hawk Creek ... nowwww, a stormy day in November and a book from Robert's up in Nelscott!
(5)David C.
Cool Oregon Coast evening and the wood fired pizza oven feels pretty darn good and looks cheery. Nice balanced menu most everyone should find something that they want to eat. Lots of chicken choices. The pizza list is quit varied. I had the shrimp, garlic, sun dried tomato with pesto base. It was quite good though, dare I say, too much cheese. Hard to taste the shrimp with all that cheese. I realize most Americans love their cheese but this was just too much. Spouse had the Thai Chicken Salad. It was very spicy but she really liked the taste. Just know you'll get some Thai chile paste in that salad. The service was exceptional. Greg really took care of us and, because I have to eat slowly, even reheated my pizza. All in all a nice, cozy place with nice people with a nice varied menu with good, tasty food. I loved the oyster shooters. Willapa Bay smalls that in spite of the "small" moniker were very large and satisfying. Very fresh.
(4)Christine S.
Glad this place has reopened. At least we have something in Neskowin when we go to our beach house. But it's not the same food. Oh, the menu is almost identical, but the food is different. Ordered Chicken Picatta that wasn't flattened, covered in about a 1/4 cup of capers and was inedible. Every bite was virtually unchewable and cutting it with my table knife was so difficult I worried about it taking flight. The zucchini was way overcooked and oily and the 'mashed potatoes' were more like smashed spuds with no additions. My husband's pasta was dried out and flavorless. Okay, we said. Let's stick to the pizza, at least they still have the wood-fired oven. Ordered for take out. Couldn't tell it was wood fired, crust was not the same, and what's this? Clearly frozen sausage from a Sysco food truck, not the yummy fennely sausage they used to use. All the ingredients have taken a dive. From what I can see, the people who bought it have not been in the food business before and are thinking they can serve the same menu, same prices but with far inferior ingredients. But at least it's something in town. Maybe the burgers are good?
(2)Julie F.
Ordered the gorgonzola and grilled chicken salad. Yum:! Crisp greens nice ripe tomatoes lightly seasoned grilled chicken and lean bacon with cheese and a pesto vinegrette. Absolutely fab. Hubby got a burger cooked to perfection. Definitely will come back again!
(5)Patricia M.
Had a wonderful breakfast on our road trip from Lincoln City to Mt Hood. The place is small but their cinnamon rolls are HUGE! Small place means a bit of a wait but the employees are gracious and friendly so we didn't mind. Had a simple breakfast but all items were done well and the coffee was hot and strong. Well worth a stop. I also saw they have a stone fire pizza oven. Too bad we couldn't stay for lunch!
(5)Mike P.
My favorite place to eat on the coast. Always friendly service and delicious food. My favorite is their pizzas. A great location as well, very close to the beach. The restraunt shut down for a year or so, but reopened recently under new ownership and is as good as ever.
