This place is awesome I just love it everything there is very good just good home cooking food and they get their beef direct from The butcher in Bend and the burgers are phenomenal . this is not FSA or Sysco food this is the real deal and the ladies in there are great very friendly excellent service and great place to just visit with them while having dinner or waiting on your meal or whatever I highly recommend this place and this is where I go whenever I am in Mitchell. And I suggest the Valentine's Day dinner it is so good it is Central Oregon ribeye steak with potatoes and asparagus with hollandaise sauce and an awesome salad and this is not just a iceberg lettuce salad this is top quality and the desert was out of this world and then they give your Valentine day sweetie a tube of chocolates wrapped up in Valentine's Day wrapping paper. If ever in mitchell or just passing through on highway 26 you should do your self a great justice and stop in for a wonderful meal and it is only about 60 miles East of redmond out in the desert....great place!!!

Mitchell has seen better days, but this cafe is clean, the staff is wonderful. Good home cooked food, beautiful view and excellent tunes courtesy of XM. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT

We were heading out early on our bike trip cross country and the Little Pine (Also a great place) wasn't open yet. We stopped at the Sidewalk Cafe and had a great breakfast. The service was quick and friendly, the food was really good, and the prices were reasonable. If your in Mitchell exploring the fossil beds stop here for a quick bite to eat.

Slow is not the word. Cant find one. Ordered at 7:37 and breakfast at 8:10. This was for one egg, one hash, toast and one piece of bacon. No offer of coffee refills either. Food was decent but no way was it worth waiting for this length of time.

Sidewalk Cafe is a nice place to grab a sit-down meal in Mitchell, Oregon, or a generous milkshake, whether you're passing through or staying for awhile. The service is friendly and kind. The food is good home cooking. The chili dog was a particular kind of comforting and delicious.

This was the worst dining experience I've had in a long time. The food took over 1 hour and 10 minutes to come out. When we finally got it, the food was bland, greasy, and just plain gross. The Dalton sandwich was not even edible. We were waiting patiently never dreaming that the food would take 70 minutes to come out. We should have been given a warning that the food was going to take that long but, the Server never even checked in on us. At the end of it, the Server and the Cook offered no apologies. I would never come back and offer the advice to others to avoid this place at all costs. Pack a lunch or go to a different town when visiting the Painted Hills. Terrible, just terrible. I would give zero stars if given the option.

Home made food, good way to start your day before exploring the surrounding areas. What really stands out, however, is the wonderful service: the people are extremely warm and friendly, smiles and jokes all around.

This place has great service and better food. The burgers are amazing and home cooking Is never a bad thing.

There were only two places to eat according to the folks in The Oregan Hotel. The other one is closed, so I have no choice if I want any food. Plus the only grocery in town is closed already. The opening hours is a mystery, depends on who you ask. It is a simple cafe. Very friendly service. I have to say my Grilled Chicken Salad was ok. I expected it to be a greasy spoon. It was not, portion is large. However, my dinner companion's Burger is dripped with fat. According to him, it tasted good, I am not sure whether it was hunger took over tastebuds. Definitely not a healthy option. Prices are in line with local standard, which is quite economical compares to DC.

Somewhere in Mitchell, OR there is a fantastic cook who won over my affections with a great meal and a plate of deviled eggs. We were passing through on a recent cycling tour and our group called ahead to see if this place would stay open for dinner for our group because every restaurant in this town closes at 3pm. (No, I'm not kidding). She went above and beyond and opened up the restaurant just for our group and made us a delicious gluten free meatloaf dinner. This cute little diner consists of a few tables and some bar stools surrounding the kitchen. There is a second room where we pushed a few tables together to fit our group. The owner and waitress (daughter?) were great and no need went unmet. Our dinner came with iced tea or lemonade, the gluten-free meatloaf (she used carrots and zucchini instead of bread crumbs), salad, homemade bread for those of us who were not gluten-free, baked potato, veggies and raspberry sorbet for dessert. Oh and the amazing deviled eggs. They brought out several plates for us which were soon devoured. Perfect touch to this homemade masterpiece. And how much did all this cost? $12. Yup, I love small towns. Came back the next morning for some hearty biscuits and sausage gravy before our ride for the day. The morning cook was delayed, but the owner got right to work in the kitchen so that we could get started on our ride. Ever tried to climb a hill on a bicycle with a plateful of biscuits and gravy in your belly? I don't recommend it, but I do recommend stopping in at this diner if you are ever out this way!

We were in town for the Painted hills festival and went in for breakfast, it was very busy for the mother/daughter team, it was probably the most people in the cafe at one time all year. The breakfast menu was handwritten on a piece of paper with 4 or so things to choose from. I ordered the bacon/eggs/hashbrowns special, which was $7.95 - Kind of spendy and ordered a cranberry juice which came in a tiny little glass and was kind of like a shot of cranberry juice instead of a glass. The breakfast was very good and we go to watch it be made, this place is really small, but quaint.

We ate breakfast here recently. Food was good not great. My wife had a decent breakfast burrito, and I had the perfectly fine eggs with bacon and hashbrowns. Our waitress was very nice and we chatted pleasantly with the locals (who all seem to eat here) about the best way to next destination.

My husband and I found this lovely place after walking out of the Little Pine Cafe and Lodge up the street as they forgot to wait on us after we were seated for a while. HOW LUCKY for us! The Mother and daughter(s) that own and run this cafe are congenial, friendly folks with senses of humor and excellent customer service attitudes. Our daily special of Mushroom Burger with potato salad was way above average. The food was fresh and the potato salad was excellent - homemade fare with some egg, red onion and slices of black olives mixed in. We shared a dessert. The cook (Mom) is known for her Peanut butter pie. It was yummy - an oreo crust and fresh whipped cream on top of a delicious Peanut butter 'cream' filling. The restaurant was sparkling clean and the people delightful. We'll visit again if in the area and encourage you to do so as well. They have daily specials - closed on Tuesdays. The "and more" - they have some local arts & crafts - including items such as hooked rugs, hand-embroidered dish towels, etc. Nice local hand made gifts - reasonably priced.

My son and I were on a motorcycle ride through eastern central Oregon and stopped here for lunch. Along with the friendly service, clean counter and way above average food, the pie is to die for. The blueberry pie was still warm out of the oven and the best I've had. Highly recommend a vist if you are in the area!
