Bought a Groupon for this place. Attempted to go three times (when they were supposed to be open) and they were closed. Asked Groupon for a refund.

Sully's is my new favorite place to go for breakfast by my house. I came here for lunch and had a turkey sandwich, and lemonde and came back a week later for breakfast. I ordered the eggs florentine which is my favorite and it was perfect! I see myself going here A LOT.

I have passed by this restaurant for several years but from the outside it didn't look like much. I was pleasantly surprised after entering of how nicely decorated it really is. I had the Reuben Sandwich with fries and side of potato salad, all 3 selections were definitely better than the norm. Homemade potato salad & the Reuben were my favorites, fries a little for my taste. I'll definitely return to try other menu items. P.S. they have several Argentine menu items also that sounded very tempting.

Such a good sausage omelette! Overall great food and cute quaint atmosphere. Definitely worth the wait if here on a busy weekend.

This is a review by a vegetarian You basic breakfast and coffee place. Good pancakes and potatoes. Coffee's a little bitter. Sooo, stick with tan and white food products. Building could use a refresh but the people are just fine.

When we moved to Milwaukie in 2009, this was our very favorite breakfast spot. Today was the first time we had been back since the ownership changed, and it was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. We will not be back. Terrible service, mediocre food, and prices too high. I don't need to go on. The other one star reviews capture the details of our experience perfectly.

This place sucks. Bad service, mediocre food. The whole atmosphere is awkward. I will never come here again. My friend likes the French toast.

My wife and I stopped for lunch. I had the Omaha Omelet. It had an abundant amount of Pastrami with three cheeses and plenty of fresh chopped tomatoes on top. With the well seasoned diced fried potatoes, rye toast with home made strawberry jam it was excellent. I'd give the omelet a 9 out of 10. My wife had the Reuben with French fries. The French fries were great but the Reuben bread was over cooked. She gave it a 6 out of 10. The food was a little slow getting to us and we were very shocked when the coupon we printed from 'Save around every day coupons' provided by Oregonian Plus was denied by the restaurant. We even showed the coupon to the waitress when we ordered and nothing was said. So if you have a coupon be sure you make sure it will be honored before you order.

My son and I had a lunch at Sullly's. The place was empty at noon. The service was not the best. The waitress brought coffee, but no spoons or napkins. The food was mediocre, and the bacon was...turkey. Well, not everybody likes the turkey bacon! Overpriced. Will not be back. Disappointing.

I'm sensing a common theme here for most of the one-star reviews and, alas, mine won't be much different from the others. You would think that the owners would see these complaints and change their practices. My husband and I came here on a recent Sunday morning. When we walked in the door, all of the tables were full. Hey, we knew this place was small and that there would be a chance we would need to wait and we're no strangers to waiting for brunch, this being Portland and all. But, what would happen next was inexcusable. The counter staff acknowledged us when we walked in and we politely took a seat in the teeny, tiny waiting area. As we waited, more and more people came in and were waiting behind us. Eventually, tables began to empty and were cleared and set by the wait staff. The first table available was a four-top and we were only two, so of course they sat a party of four first that had arrived much later than us. Although irritating, I understand this practice having been a restaurant hostess in what seems like a previous life. We were seated next. As the timing turned out to be, almost the entire restaurant had cleared out at once and all of the parties behind us were eventually seated. We sat and watched as every single one of those parties that had come in behind us had coffee and their orders taken before a server had even bothered to look at us! By the time the waitress got around to us, I was livid. Keeping my composure, I kindly asked her to put our order ticket into the kitchen ahead of the others as we were there much earlier than all of the other parties and, seeing the size of the kitchen, I could only imagine how much longer we were going to have to wait. I don't think she honored by my request, as I saw plate after plate come out of the kitchen and go to other tables. By the time we received our food, about an hour had gone by and all of the other parties that had arrived after us had eaten, paid their bills and were happily on their merry little ways. Unfortunately, my husband really enjoyed his chicken fried steak and eggs, but he will never be able to eat it again unless dining here on his own in secret, because I will never go here again.

Brought a restaurant.com coupon. The owner decided that he didn't want to honor it on holidays even though they didn't list it on the offer details. Place is really small. Food is overpriced: $11 for a waffle, $15 for pasta, which might be fine for a high quality place, but not a place like this. Nobody was here, which is probably because of what I already mentioned.

Well I can't tell you much about the quality of the food because my fiancée and I cancelled our orders and left before eating. The service was pretty awful, but what really ticked me off was this: so we wanted BREAKFAST, which is why we went there, both ordered items with bacon in them, then noticed the teeny tiny fine print, "no pork items served" at the top of the menu. That can't be right, I thought. This is a breakfast place, and they list multiple ham and bacon breakfasts on the menu. Upon inquiring, we learned that our breakfast would be made with turkey bacon, although the ham is genuine. This logic disparity sent my Vulcan mind whirling. We would have reordered, but the waitress was so rude and inattentive, (it really seemed like she didn't want us there) that we decided to just leave and eat elsewhere.

The food is good. Prices are a little high. The service is very poor (not just once). Probably won't be back until the wait staff changes.

we walked into this tiny place and all tables were full. we stood in the door way about 10 min. the people in front of us were taken to there table and then we sat at the little bench there waiting for about another 10 min.. Never once did anyone greet us or anything during this whole 20 min. We went here wanting the chicken fried steak that was the cover photo of there groupon deal. So we both ordered the chicken fried steak and a side of pancakes. first the bring us our toast..... came on one plate.. 2 pieces of bread cut in half ( this is a normal order for one person at any other restaurant) Turns out this was the toast for both orders.. so apparently you only get one piece of bread. I will say the home made jams were very good. and the pancakes were good ( nothing special) when we got our meals the chicken fried steaks were very small beef fried steaks. looked nothing like the picture i was expecting and also were very tough. they brought steak knives to cut them with and they were still hard to cut. My wife's was also pretty much raw in the middle. Also the gravy is some kind of sausage gravy... i only had one little tiny piece of sausage on my plate while my wifes had a bunch. The girl that was waiting on us never once came back to see how our food was the only time they talked to us was when we called them over to ask them about the food because it was not what we were expecting.... she said they have a chicken fried steak that is beef and a chicken fried chicken that is chicken... ( I dare you to find a chicken fried chicken on the menu) By the way she never asked or mentioned anything about getting us something different is was like.. well thats what you ordered, sorry. For as small as this place is... like 9 tables... It took WAYYY to long for us to get our food. I will never go back here.. there is another diner around the corner that my Grandma showed me that is Some much better!!! Im glad i had a groupon so we got 10 bucks off. but i still feel like i paid to much.

OH hay gurl HAY! I'm a neighborhood enthusiast. #milwaukierules I have been hanging around your cutie lil cafe for years. I have never b*tched OR moaned about the silly wait for service in such a small place. Love the family feel. Like the food quite a bit. But. The last several visits? Ugh. I can't cover for you anymore. It's unforgivable. The amount of waiting for the price is no longer worth the Main Street Nostalgia vibe. If you're visiting our fine Dogwood City, I'd recommend this place. But be prepared for a scene that might not match up with the pricing. Sully's: I would love you so much and patronize you every.single.day if you could revert to pumpin' out good eats in a reasonable amount of time like back in the good ole days.

I really want to find an awesome breakfast place in Milwaukie. This is not it. Went in for the first (and last) time today. Small cafe with three staff members on the floor. The hostess(?) took us to our seats without a word, dropped off our menu, and disappeared. Second girl comes and gets our drink order. While my hot cocoa was beautiful, I didn't get the water I had asked for. Hubby said his OJ tasted like a cheap concentrate. It's a pricey little breakfast joint. 22 minute wait for the two of us for our food to arrive. Whilst we were waiting, we couldn't help but listen to a two top in the corner who was playing their movie player rather loudly and two ladies sitting next to them asked to be moved if the servers weren't going to address the movie watching couple. They were moved. The only other table behind us seemed annoyed as well. 22 minutes. For a rueben and biscuits and gravy. Get our food. While my salad was quite pretty with the red peppers, field greens, and zucchini, I'm pretty sure ranch dressing shouldn't be so thick it resembles a paste. If the corned beef was home cooked, I wouldn't have been able to tell through the gobs of 1000 island they put on there. Still not sure if it had sauerkraut or not. Poor hubby. His B&G was disgusting. Flour, water, and baking powder do not make tasty biscuits. If they used any other ingredients, I'd be surprised. While we're getting through our plates, I'd kept hoping one of the three staff members would come ask us how it was or refill our water, something. Nope. Not once. When our plates looked about done, one girl did drop off the check and only said "you're welcome" after my hubby shouted "thank you" after her. Got up to the front and paid. $25.55 over priced and so not worth the bad taste in our mouths. But oh does it get worse! Both of us got heartburn. BOTH OF US GOT THE RUNS FROM THIS PLACE!!!! HORRIBLE service. BAD food. RUNS. And I paid $25.55 for it?! If this place could get negative stars, I would. I've eaten out at a lot of places in multiple countries/states. This is by far the WORST place I've ever been to.

Went there for Mother's Day breakfast and were supremely disappointed. We were seated and given menus, but we're not given water or coffee or even or even checked on in ten minutes. The staff was standing around ignoring us. The menu was pretentious and tried to be creative, but with weird combinations. We ended walking out without trying the food because the service was so bad.

Being from San Francisco where food quality is set high, this place still has the best eggs florentine i have EVER had! Crispy English muffin, grilled tomato and piles of spinach smothered in creamy, tangy hollandaise. The potatoes are crispy and soft, the coffee is organic (of course) and from Eugene and they sell it from the restaurant along with their apple butter and strawberry preserves that I call "pie on toast." This place is the epitome of an American small town diner. The service is the icing on this cake! Go there now!

    (5)
  • Steve R.

Yep. Very good place for b'fast. The hash is very good, as are the Eggs Benedict. Coffee is 100% organic with no bitterness. Best place for b'fast I've found in Gladstone-Milwaukie... would that be Glad-Waukie?

Update.. Management sold, things have changed unfortunately. My family of five got seated quickly and this was the only exceptional experience. We used to frequent this place so entering this review is sad. The order was taken or delivered to the kitchen incorrectly; drinks arrived that were not ordered, ordered food missing and incomplete (missing key ingredients) and food type changed for the worse (turkey bacon with no pork option-really?). Additionally the wait staff was too inexperienced. For such a small space and not-cheap prices, staff needs to be more aware. Maybe they cater to an older clientele now and thus the pace and thoroughness need not be great ...(I know I'm reaching)? ***** Great ma and pop feel, great food, good service. There's not much selection for breakie foods in Milwaukie so to say one if the best in town is not sayin much, but you won't be dissatisfied. Since kids we don't go there much but they always remember us and make us feel like we're there every week. If you need comfort food taste with comfort food quality, this is it.

It was nice to visit a breakfast place that served reasonable portions and had a reasonable wait and was fairly priced. It seems most of the independent places around town either have a ridiculous wait for Sunday breakfast/brunch or rely on huge, oversized portions (six-egg omelettes, platter-sized plates) instead of quality product. The menu was pretty traditional, but the food was good. The housemade sausage in the omelette was very good, though the potatoes could have used some more seasoning. Their housemade apple butter and strawberry jam, though, were outstanding. I probably wouldn't drive to Milwaukie from Camas just to eat here, but it was near where we were running other errands today, and I would be glad to stop in again if nearby.

Had lunch here today Sunday had a short wait for a table. Had Milwaukie special Turkey sandwich with potato salad very good and price was fair they were busy took a few minutes for food but well worth the wait we will be returning. Well also try gaucho there other restaurant that shares the space.

Waitress couldn't understand the concept of my request for fully cooked eggs with my Egg's Benedict. It's not only my personal preference but I was also almost 8 months pregnant at the time. I had to send it back and I'm pretty sure I heard the waitress complain to the cook & claim it wasn't her fault, that I had 'changed my mind'. When I mentioned this to another employee they shrugged it off. Further I'm pretty sure instead of remaking the whole thing they just replaced the egg because the English muffin was soggy and the hollandaise was cold. We never went back after.

Not impressed with the food. I gave this place a try a few times as it's one of few places to eat within walking distance of my office. Nothing to write home about. Rather bland breakfast & lunch items. Not a great value for the money.

On a whim a girlfriend and I decided to try Sully's. Milwaukie is our stomping ground, but we'd never tried their food before. I'll just get to it: never eating there again. The waitress and cashier we had were both still in high school, which is fine, but while earning a paycheck you should be able to do your day to day tasks without having to be told to do so like a child. We sat and were given menus. This was about the only prompt service we did receive. The food listed is of the healthier variety, and I found that appealing. We ordered our food, my companion had a small substitute - instead of bacon, could she have potatoes? Our waitress said it was fine and scurried back to the kitchen with our order. When I came back from the restroom, our food was on the table but my girlfriends was incorrect. I noticed I didn't have silverware. we couldn't get anyone's attention. So finally, after heading to the counter and asking for the right food and proper utensils, they arrived apologetically and the 'correct' order for my companions food was taken. As I waited politely for the 2nd order of food to be prepared and my sandwich ran cold I asked a passing waiter if we could have another glass of water while we waited. He came back with pitcher in hand, filled my glass and then walked away leaving my friend's glass empty. Again, we waived someone down for a fill up, and again, why were we needing to ask to in the first place? Finally the new order of food started to trickle in. They brought potatoes first. Then another 10 minutes later and her pancake finally arrive (no syrup was available so she had to find another waitress to bring her some). Then the cook came out and asked her if she had ordered an egg (yes, she had) and walked away while my friend had to holler at her that she'd like that egg over medium (thanks for asking!). Another 5 minutes and the egg came out. In the meantime my sandwich had congealed into a soggy mess, so I ate it with a fork and we called it a day. Time to pay. You'd think this was the easy part... nope. We got to the counter and the kid whipped out a calculator to figure our our bill.... then spent some time arguing with a co-worker, then finally took my cash... and had no change. I already knew a tip wasn't due but at this point I just didn't care anymore, and we walked out the door. If they had been busy I may have given them a pass, but there were all of 4 other tables occupied. I few mishaps? I'd have given them a pass as well... but the whole visit was a mishap. Over priced, inadequate staff, and and unorganized business (come on, what restaurant doesn't have quarters in the till?). negative stars.

Great Breakfast foods. Have not yet tried the lunch. The staff has been awesome. The pancakes with strawberries were perfect - didn't even need syrup. The French toast has been great and all egg dishes we have had have been perfect. They even brought out a water bowl and a separate bowl of dog treats for our puppy.

Sully's is under new ownership. Unfortunately, the experience is already going downhill. My understanding is that the plan is to open the place in the evening as an Argentinian restaurant. Sounds interesting enough and I was excited to hear that Sully's would finally be open more often. In addition, the 'new' brunch menu states that they intend on keeping 'most' of the same great dishes and recipes the regulars have come to enjoy. This is not correct. First and foremost, they took bacon completely off the menu. It boggles the mind to imagine why a place that has a great reputation as a top notch brunch spot would completely take bacon off of the menu. I can find nothing regarding Argentinians following a strict Jewish or Muslim diet. In fact, the country is approximately 90% Catholic. Catholics love bacon. Everyone knows that. Turkey bacon is no substitute. This is bizarre. I was willing to passively accept the lack of bacon at Sully's so long as my favorite dish was not touched. The Corned Beef Has is famously delicious here. Or, at least it was. The corned beef, house made, is the perfect balance of briny, fatty and lean. The hash had big chunks of this corned beef intermingled with roasted potatoes. The dish was large and amazing. I would get it nearly every time that we visited. The dish that I received under the new ownership was nothing like this. It tasted like it came out of a can. For all that I know, it did. I had to drown it in ketchup to get through it. Extremely disappointing. The dish was not worth the $11 price tag that they, conveniently, did not change. I wouldn't have paid over $5 for it. Finally, the feel and vibe of Sully's seems to have changed. They had twice as many people as I have ever seen there and, somehow, seemed 3 times more disorganized. I can't state enough how disappointing this is. We will give the Argentinian evening restaurant a try. But we are absolutely done with weekend brunch.

Upon being seated, I was handed an unfamiliar menu and soon discovered that there were no more great pork sausage to be found, so I ordered the turkey bacon in lieu of the lamb sausage that is now being sold. I discovered that Sully's is under new ownership. I was really looking forward to the sausage that is normally on the menu, but all pork products have now been removed from the menu. What I received was two strips of leathery turkey meat with a texture akin to a fruit roll-up posing as tasteless bacon. I was poured a weak and bitter cup of truckstop coffee (bad taste still in my mouth). My waffles were dense and tough. My eggs were overcooked and rubbery. After we left, my wife and I both complained about a having a strange taste in our mouths. There was an odd flavor in the background of the things we ate, like other flavors were contaminating our meal, for example: a pocket of cinnamon making a guest appearance the hollandaise sauce that was poured over the eggs Florentine. The dish was still good, but sometimes little intrusions can be unsettling. The OJ tasted like dish soap? I wish the new owners all the best with the Argentinian direction they are going to take the restaurant in, I will not be back to find out how great Argentinian food can be, too many places to eat, so much great food to be had in the region, just not at this little corner of town and not on this day.

Breakfast - the word itself brings a smile to my face. Now if you say 'Breakfast at Sully's Cafe' I will be grinning from ear to ear. I had the 'Hang Town Fry' omelet. It was amazingly good and huge. I think next time I'm going to order it without the pound of sour cream and cheese on top though. Coffee was fantastically good for diner coffee that is. My friend had the biscuits and gravy and I stole a taste of that gravy... OMG it was real... yes, you heard right, real gravy and not from some institutional food box. Service was okay, par for Portland and outlying Milwaukie. The place is small but very cozy and cute but the menu is huge and it looks as though they can really deliver as advertised on every item they offer. I can't wait to go back and try more breakfast stuff! Enjoy

I don't have great expectations of Milwaukie, my past experience has been that basic meat and mashed potatoes fare prevail in North Clackamas County. When I found myself at Sullys this past weekend, I braced myself for something less than wonderful.I was pleasantly surprised. While I can find places in Portland that do breakfast better than Sullys, it is only incrementally so. My wife and I found the food to be excellent. I had some variety of veggie scramble and she the basic eggs, bacon, taters and toast. All very good. Prices were a wee bit high, but I'll shoplift something from Freddies and break even. The service was great. An 'older lady' about my age took care of us in a friendly manner, albeit a bit disorganized. She was fine. Everything was fine. Sullys is like finding a great restaurant in rural Utah. Not impossible to find, but rare enough to appreciate it when you do.

One star for attentive and friendly staff. Otherwise, the coffee was weak and the $10 breakfast dish was overpriced for what it was: a side of frozen-then-fried potatoes and hollandaise sauce that congealed almost immediately into a bizarre consistency. Plus, no bacon and contemporary christian music playing in the background... odd choices for a breakfast cafe.

They have a fair amount of seating and an espresso bar as well, so we've never had to wait in the three times we've been. I can honestly say that I've rarely been a breakfast person before Sully's. Cute Fiestaware mugs and creamer, service is always delightful. Food is seriously top notch. Biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, dungeness crab omelette, benedicts and even the sauteed veggies are amazing. I thought it was too off the grid to be good but was sorely mistaken. U will not be disappointed!!!

It took three visits before this place was open, and it was not worth the effort. Coffee was good, but everything else was bland. It may be the best breakfast in Milwaukie, but that says more about the lack of options in Milwaukie than the deliciousness of this restaurant. Not that it would be open if I tried to come here, but never again.

Quite possibly the best omelets in the WORLD! Well, at least the best in the Portland area. Everything is so good, down to the home made jam. Staff is super friendly. You've got to try this place.

This is a great diner for breakfast. There are a variety of choices, and everything I have ever had there has been good to amazing. The strawberry jam and apple butter are both home made and really delicious. The service is decent and my coffee stays filled. Prices are reasonable and it's nice to have such a great place in downtown Milwaukie.

worst food i have ever eaten said my mother whom i took there. She recently moved to the West Moreland area. She is trying to find places for breakfast in this area and i have been taking her to different places. Sullys was referred to us so we thought we would try it. Waitress nice however food lacks taste and was very bland. Had waffle and turkey bacon. other meal was biscuit and gravy . Left place and ran into someone out side from the neighborhood they said it was under new owner ship. Maybe they changed the menu and should not have. Disappointed. Next......

Sully's is a few blocks from where the farmer's market is held on Sundays. Wonderful omelettes, filled with fancy and interesting combinations - this isn't diner food, it's a bit more upscale and fresh, but in a casual atmosphere and with reasonable prices. The service is very friendly. There's not much room between tables - they fit all the seating they can get there. I wouldn't label it as family-friendly, but I did take my child there when he was an infant and could still stay in sling or carseat. There hours are, I believe, limited -- I just know they are open until early afternoon on Sunday.

Great service. Fabulous food. The corned beef hash is incredible. And if you ask, they will make a smoked salmon hash that is the best. Or they make a mean smoked salmon benedict too (if you ask). Our kids love the waffles. Wife likes the poached eggs and toast: always cooked to perfection. Service is friendly, quick, and they have great memories. A breakfast gem in little ol' Milwaukie. And don't forget them for lunch either: the soups and salads are wonderful. They make a balsamic turkey salad with fruit and nuts that is simply the best salad I've ever tasted.

I just had breakfast at Sully's. It is one of my favorite breakfast places. This morning they had some Dungeness crab. So what I planned on being just a simple bacon, eggs and potatoes breakfast quickly changed to the Dungeness Crab omelet with spinach, cheese, diced tomato topped with a light flavorful Hollandaise sauce. I have 1/2 of the omelet and toast leftover for tomorrow's breakfast. Truly everything I have eaten here has been very good. If you like corned beef hash you must try Sully's!

We stumbled on this place one Sunday morning after seeing a very long line at another local Milwaukie restaurant. Well, I don't think we will go back to the other place. The food here is fabulous! So far we have tried seven different items from the breakfast menu and have not been disappointed. The service is good, very friendly but not irritatingly so. The coffee is quite good for regular coffee. So far my favorite dish is the Hangtown Fry with oysters and spinach. OMG, I am salivating right now!

Sorry to the guy below but Sully's is very good food in an area lacking. Located across the street from Milwaukie Lumber Sully's is an oasis in Milwaukie providing your idea oasis is is filled with incredible omelets and endless coffee. I live in Milwaukie and know that the number of quality restaurants is a bit on the short side. I love stopping by and getting the sausage omelet packed with a few kinds of cheese, really good sausage and fresh basil. Not sure who their coffee roster is but you can buy it on site. I am just to laze to check. I have eaten there many times for breakfast but never for lunch. That said I am told it too is very good.

This place is not family friendly at all! We felt run out - more by the other customers than the staff. We did not even stay and would never recommend this as a place for kids.

Had a pretty nice breakfast here this morning. Honestly, the prices are a little high, but the food is pretty top-notch, so it's a wash. The corned beef hash is home-made, and some of the best I've ever had. Could have used more eggs for the large plate though. And the toasts were definitely better than average.
