Stopped for the first time after a backpacking trip. The pizza was pretty good but I was disappointed in the service and the price. Who charges 24 dollars for a medium pizza but doesn't give free refills. I've worked in the food industry and I know the syrup goes forever. Not to mention that we waited 40 minutes for our pizza and no one stopped to refill water. I had to go to the counter and ask for water where three people were standing and all ignored me. I asked the young man of he could fill our water and he said that some other gal does that. ..I proceeded to tell him that she was clearly busy and that is ridiculous. Finally someone got us water. So long story short I might eat here if I'm hungry but is hope they hire some different staff!

Great pizza and highly recommend. Our entire group loved it. The place needs some love (remodeling) but understand that takes a lot of money and restaurants are expensive to operate.

New to living in the canyon. Been here about 2 years. The food is decent.. Fairly on time. But the customer service in most establishments in the country out here are lacking in personal customer service. Not one... "Hello, thanks for coming in", "welcome to Giovani's" I will not drop any hard working money back into any place out here... Just because there isn't another pizza place for 30 miles. Oh yea... They "thanked me" after my payment. Giovanis... Teach those youngsters some better customer service around here. It's embarrassing Oregon.

Pizza is delicious!! But everything here is so painfully overpriced or I would come more often. I love supporting small businesses so I do eat here still.. But it's very expensive.

My wife and I stopped here when we were vacationing near the Opal Creek forest. We were just hoping for decent meal, but we were pleasantly surprised by just how good this pizza is. We had the sicilian, with italian sausage, mushrooms, black olives. The sausage was exceptional - my wife is picky about sausage not being too "gamey" and she liked it. The crust is fine bread dough, spun by hand for all to view, and delicious. They cook the pies thoroughly - not leaving it too doughy like many places. They also have real malts! and the service is professional and efficient.

The pizza and spinners were amazing!! Expect a bit of a wait since they make everything to order. Had the linguisa pizza and half order of spinners. I could have skipped the spinners and still had leftovers for days! So good!! And even though it's a lot of dough and cheese it was not greasy at all. Will be back for sure!

Love this pizza place. I always order ahead when I'm traveling through Mill City to central Oregon. The crust is the best. I like to watch them toss the pizzas.

Given your eating choices around here I should give this place FIVE starts, but I am too much a pizza fan for that. Cute little hole in the wall pizza joint. The crust is very very good. toppings are a plenty and they have a lot of options. Prices are good, but they are nit picky... Ranch is .50. I get it they are small and every bit counts. We have salads, sandwiches, pastas etc. Dinner Salad is basic... (iceberg lettuce.. VERY cold and crisp lettuse, croutons, cucumber and cheese). My kids were craving chicken strips and they even had those (and they were good) :) If you in the area and you want good pizza, stop in. It is even worth the drive from Detroit!

One of the worst dining experiences of my life. Very rude staff, no customer service skills, or common sense. Extremely disappointed in the food and the service!

I normally love this pizza and breadsticks but the last two times I've had it unfortunately it's been burned. Otherwise it's amazing! Be sure to call ahead since it does take awhile!

Delicious hand tossed pizza. You know these people put care into their food. Absolutely awesome. ++you can even call ahead if you're just passing through.

finally back after years and years. same old interior! and the ceiling could sure use a fresh layer of paint. anyway, I ordered an extra cheese pizza and hubby order a three topping combo. Pizza was above average, BUT the crust is the best crust i've ever had on a pizza. AMAZING crust. The place had about 8 crew working on a Sunday night, so yeah, it gets that busy. Our pizza though, despite the place being packed, came out within 25 minutes of ordering. Not bad at all. We luckily claimed a booth. The place has tables and booths, but only about 12 in total. All staff members had smiles on their faces and seemed to enjoy working there. Excellent staff. Came to check on us, refilled drinks, etc. This place operates wonderfully.

Totally unexpected roadside pizza joint! I was *really* skeptical going in to this place but we were served some damn fine pizza quickly and on the cheap. Very impressed! A must stop!

Food is great. Service is terrible. We ordered a gluten free pizza which they messed up. We had everyone eating but one hungry gluten free needing kid. They need to hire more people. Wait is terribly long.

Always great pizza. We call when we get to the Stayton exit headed to Central Oregon on Hwy 22. It's usually ready when we get there. Pizza dough is fresh and hand-rolled for every pizza. Today's clam chowder special looked great, with homemade bread sticks.

I'm a pizza snob, but I loved this gourmet pizza. My medium "special" with everything on it was served to me on their patio, which is a lower deck that on a nice day was extremely pleasant. The pizza came out hot with fresh sliced room temperature tomatoes on top of it. I have never had that before, but it was very good. It was my favorite kind of crust, thin NY style that seemed hand tossed. I think it had a lot of gluten in it, which I appreciate for its pliability. Every time I pass this way, I will make an effort to stop and order the same again.

An over priced , uninspired Chicken fajita sub accompanied by a hospital cafeteria grade side salad made for a really unmemorable meal. Add to that the lack of free refills on fountain drinks and only one beer on tap, Bud, you may want to give this place a pass.

I have an account in the area and over the years have bought pizza here and have always been happy with the quality of the pizza's and the friendliness of the help. The pizza is typical, not gourmet or anything like that, just honest pizza made with some tasty ingredients. The latest purchase was this last week with bread sticks, a Fat Roman, a BLT, a Pepperoni and Hamburger, Canadian Bacon and Onions pizzas and they were all devoured. Give it a try!

Loved it! I was pointed to this place by a friend at work, and one lazy afternoon, my girlfriend and I made the trip out there after a day of cruising around our beautiful Salem countryside. The place looks like a dive, and I've driven right by it multiple times. So I wasn't really sure if it was the right place when we stopped, but stop we did. Inside, the place is cute, but nothing spectacular. We were helped immediately and noticed that it's your standard pizzeria fare. Some side Italian dishes, like lasagna, spaghetti, stuff like that, were available, but we were there for the pizza. The first thing I ordered was six "spinners." They are dough, wrapped around Italian sausage and ricotta cheese. We also ordered a large with pepperoni and pineapple. Sadly, they do not offer refills. But for the price of a "bottomless" coke somewhere else, you can get a 32oz pitcher, with lots of replenishable ice. Also 64oz and half pitchers are available, all reasonably priced. I noticed immediately that their dough was rolled out by hand and then tossed. Fabulous! We got the spinners and...oh my word, they were to die for. I thought they'd be smallish, but they were huge. Hot and steamy, with plenty of garlic, the sausage was tangy and the ricotta was in just the right amount, not overwhelming, but certainly not skimpy. I had to stop at two, because by this point, I was dying to try the pizza. I was not disappointed. The surface was covered in a lake of cheese, like I've never seen before on a pizza (that I haven't ordered extra extra cheese on). The crust was chewy and very tasty, the sauce was delicious, and the toppings, outside of the cheese, were plentiful and very fresh. I fell in love with this place, and rank it right up there with one my favourite pizza joints in the country. And what with pizza being my favourite food ever, I've been to my fair share of pizza joints. Definitely worth the trip...and the extra cost. Yes, sadly, this was a fairly expensive pizza, with no coupon deals. But you absolutely get what you pay for, and I did not begrudge one single damn cent I spent here.

The meat lovers pizza is awesome but watch out the small will feed three people. Also great selection of beers.

Giovaai Mountain Pizza is Amazing!! They are the only pizza place for about 50 miles. When I lived in the area it was a real treat to go for pizza. Nothing has changed in 20 years. The pizza is hand made with only fresh ingredients. They put something special in the crust like sugar or something that makes it so wonderful. Whenever I am drive to over the mountain I have to stop by and grab a pie! FYI the place is small and gets filled fast on the weekends.

I love this place. It's got its own thing going on considering its location (out in the boonies). I always order pizza with whole wheat crust and the cheesy garlic breadsticks. The only way to go wrong is to order too many pizza toppings 'cause it'll get soggy and sloppy.

I am remiss in not writing this review much, much sooner. It has become a tradition to visit Giovanni after hiking/backping in the Mount Jefferson area (most notably Jefferson Park). The service is always great, and the pizza and bread sticks are always delicious. We also enjoy the art which customers leave under the glass tabletops. Some of it is quite skillfully done. The only reason that I am not giving Giovanni the coveted 5th star is that I wish they would expand their veggie options. Currently they have the standard array (mushrooms, olives, green peppers, sliced tomatoes). Sun-dried tomatoes and roasted red peppers would be a very welcome addition!

I've eaten at Giovanni's countless times in the many years they've been open. The pizza is palatable and it is a good place to stop in an area that doesn't have many dining options. Unfortunately, I had an experience there recently that was so appalling, I will never set foot in there again. As my family and I were the only customers in the restaurant, three members of the staff (two men and a woman) were idly chatting. Nothing surprising there, right? No, except for the fact that they were talking about killing small animals. One of the men said that he and his brother rousted a cat who was sleeping in a barrel and shot it, giving details about how the animal tried to escape and how it fought for its life. The woman joined in about how she had run over a cat and looked in her rearview mirror to see "if I had killed it" and saw that it was "still jumping up and down in the road." The other man said that he had shot many small animals for fun - birds, rabbits, squirrels, etc - but no cats so far. I listened to this for several minutes with an undoubtedly shocked look on my face. The staff noticed this and made no effort to cease the conversation. Finally, I approached them and asked the man who had talked about shooting the cat how he could do such a thing to a defenseless animal. WIth a smirk, he replied "I was just a kid" and that the cat had "a bad leg. I was putting it out of its misery." I again said "how could you do such a thing?" and "I feel sick to my stomach." (I was so upset that I could hardly speak). None of them said anything - no apology, no remorse, no admission of any wrongdoing. I left. I had always thought of Giovanni's as a nice little family-owned restaurant and was happy to stop in whenever I had the chance. I will never even be able to drive by now without the memory of that horrific experience. I will tell everyone I know not to patronize this restaurant.

We stopped at Giovanni's on the way to Sisters, after reading reviews here on Yelp. Despite being a little roadside building in the middle of nowhere, they serve a darn good pizza. We got the "Roman" which includes a little bit of everything. Nice people, quick service, and we loved all the notes and drawings people have left behind under the table tops.

Giovanni's is a drive for me, but it has been difficult to match the yummiest bread sticks or bread bowl salads! MUST stop if you are in the area, and if not, MUST drive to try this zah. Watch out this building is humble and it is better to take an order to go.

This is what pizza used to be like before the chains took over. The crust is hand-tossed. It's kind of amusing to watch them work. The toppings are fresh and well-proportioned. We often call ahead and order this pizza when we are driving from Bend to Salem and happen to be passing by.
