Ordered a few items from the menu. First timer. I ordered the deep fried tofu appetizer and udon noodles with vegetables. The udon noodles didn't come with any vegetables besides onions and cabbage. Very little seaweed (maybe 3 pieces) and 5 pieces of slivered carrots. Zero mushrooms and green onions like the menu states. The food was good but definitely not worth the price I paid for it all. I won't be ordering these items from this place again until their prices are adjusted or their portions (or proper ingredients) have improved.

I'm updating my rating from 5 stars. I like the sushi well enough, and the sushi guys are always really awesome. But the last time we were there I listened to (who we believe is) the owner arguing with a customer about some really petty stuff when it would have been easier for her to just apologize to the guy and be done with it. It was so awkward and the tension was so awful. Then she started scolding the waitresses, loudly. And off-duty employees (?) or maybe family members of the owner (?) were back behind the sushi bar just eating and putting their dirty, personal dishes on surfaces where food was being prepared and then touching things without washing their hands. Incredibly unsanitary. And too much. We haven't been back, and it's a shame because I really liked coming here, despite what people said about them.

Good food, we ordered the California rolls and the Tempura shrimp, it was all delicious. It wasn't far to travel to get it - we got take out. Great place in a safe location. It was made fresh and didn't take long to receive it.

This is the only place where I can get amazing sushi. I love their Bento plates, everything is so fresh and taste good. Service is great, they are always in it.

Southern Oregon Renegades favorite sushi spot in Medford. Sushi Chef Mario is awesome sushi artist. Take a look at the menu for the new items or ask for the "Rock my World" roll or "Mario Special" you won't be disappointed. Great service and great food. The "Mama's wings" are the best wings in town.

For anyone traveling, the food was amazing! The sushi tasted fresh, and was fast! The food didn't all come at the same time, but definitely worth it. The service was great too, the waiter made us feel welcome, kept us laughing! Which was a huge plus! Over all it was great, the only thing that maybe wasn't too great was the soda, it was a little flat!

I enjoyed the sushi. I had the mt hood and the mt Saint Hellen's rolls. The sushi is a little over priced. My only real complaint was the service. Our waiter was on his cell phone Where everyone could see. He was also eves dropping on our conversation. He actually came over and tried to give his two cents. I was shocked! There are better options in Medford.

If you're looking for a good sushi place to eat at, this is the place to go. My family and I love coming here. We stopped by last night during a HUGE dinner rush with these two lovely ladies serving a full house and managed to get everything done on time. The staff is just amazing. Our favorite sushi chef has to be Mario hes always keeping his customers happy and laughing. Everyone treats you like family here, and they have the best sushi in town. Keep up the good work Star!

It comes down to the essential. Is your food prepared out of service to the customer or love for your guest. You arrive at your friends home ready for a meal. What is often remembered? The time spent and words shared. Thank You Star Sushi

OH SO NASTY! Bugsy had a very lousy bento here. Soggy sushi...served to go, and there was something important missing. That's right folks, SOY SAUCE! Kind of a problem. The dumplings were flavorless, and overall, a total drag. On another night, it was just "ok". With so many sushi places, this is not the one to go to. Overall, service was mixed. Place is cold inside. Meh. Meh. Meh.

I guess the key to eating here is to eat here, not take it to go. I ordered the 3 item bento box and I got, Chicken teriyaki, which was amazing btw. I have had some good, and this was definitely up there. Veggie tempura, the batter was light and crispy, not oily. Also a nice sized helping, not like some places where they give you like 3 vegetables, but like 10 good sized chunks of veggies. And the California roll. It was good. Although I will say that it hard to mess up a California roll, but I have seen it happen. My husband on the other hand got a dragon roll and the Ashland roll. He was slightly disappointed. He said it was mediocre. So I guess avoid the rolls and dive into the many other offerings. Japanese is not just sushi, it's donburi and tonkatsu, and kragge(?).

This places loses some stars for rude service and for the cardinal sin of sushi takeout: forgetting to put soy sauce in the to-go box... twice!?! Seriously, I just dropped $30 on TWO bento boxes for lunch-- that's pricey! And then to get to work and open up my lunch to find no soy sauce whatsoever? I'm really pissed off right now as is my friend who also got screwed out of soy sauce. So, let's see: bento box came with white rice, 2 sushi rolls that are warm and a little unappetizing, 2 fried potstickers, and an overdressed salad-- everything is bone dry except the salad, leaving very little that I WANT to eat. I'm really disappointed with this place. I have had their bento before without issue and found it to be perfectly acceptable, not great but not bad. This time, the woman who answered when I called to place the order was rude. Then when I picked it up, not only did it take forever, but then I ASKED the woman if she made sure to put soy sauce in the bag-- "yes, of course" is her annoyed response. I HATE DRY SUSHI. Therefore, my entire lunch is basically going in the garbage, so thanks for wasting my money, Star Sushi! Hard to say I'd ever go back to this place after this experience. It just plain makes me mad. Get your to-go business in order and make sure you put soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi in every stinkin' to-go box, mmk? It's not that hard!

Always have excellent sushi, but sometimes I get poor service, depends on the day of week and time of day. Although, their prices seem to increase every visit.

Pretty disappointing sushi restaurant. I felt rather sick after eating just a few bites of fish, which usually means the food isn't fresh. Service was also poor. The waitress delivered the food while looking away from our table. She did not seem concerned if we had the right food or if we were happy with our meals. When she took my credit card, she went off to talk to another customer and repeatedly dropped my card. Overall bad food and bad service.

The environment is pleasant and so is the staff. I have had the bento and enjoyed it, also I like the poke salad, but I would like the cubes of ahi to be a bit bigger and honestly they put more cucumber then I would like, after all I'm not ordering a cucumber salad. The sushi has never disappointed. .
(3)Gina R.
Waitstaff is nice however the sushi guys were jerks. The last roll I had gave me food poisoning. They take forever to make a simple California roll even when there is no one in the place or one or two other people who have already gotten there food
(2)Mrs. M.
My husband and I love coming here! The staff is always really sweet. We had a roll made wrong once and the waitress noticed before us and took it away and had a new one made (we had asked to alter the roll). This is a great no hassle spot to stop in if your in the mood for sushi and they have lots of good veggie options.
(5)L R.
This place always has the best service and great good too. Been coming here for a really long time! It's not the fanciest, but it's priced right!! You can't really go wrong to pop in for a quick lunch or dinner. Check it out and enjoy!

I was told of this place by word of mouth. I ended up ordering four different Sushi plates. The food was outstanding and the waitress was super nice and helpful.

"Real Crab" We ordered two sushi rolls that both said they had "real crab" in them. No, they did not. We told our server that the crab was imitation, she went back to talk to the chef in hushed tones and then came back and told us that the crab was real but mixed with mayonnaise. It was clearly imitation crab, we know the difference. My husband pulled some "crab" out and gave it to her and said "this is not real". She took it back again and then came out with the same story of "real crab". Also, the cold soba noodles sucked. The dipping sauce was horrible. To make a long story short, this place sucks. There are three other sushi restaurant options in Ashland all of which are leaps and bounds above Star Sushi in terms of quality and authenticity. I will be surprised if this place is still in business a year from now.

Very flavorful sushi!!! Excellent service. The sunshine roll was my favorite. very small place, only seats about 50 people ar a time. average prices for the food.
(5)Anonymous A.
With only three tables with people eating dinner we waited 45 minutes for two rolls. When I expressed to the waitress that we were still waiting for food when everyone else who was dining was served, ate, and left the restaurant she didn't understand why we were a little annoyed. The Sushi chef laughed when she told him we were still waiting for our two rolls. there were six people working. We will never return to this place will steer our friends and family away from here.

Great wait staff, and tasty unagi. I would recommend this place if you find yourself in the Medford area. Prices are decent and the sushi staff are very friendly. All in all, I'd go back again for sure.

No normal refrigeration they use a small compact refrigerator. I walked out. For me this is a first. On top of it all I walked almost a mile for this disappointment.

It was a Sunday night and our favorite Sushi place (Bonsai) was closed, and we looked this place up on yelp and decided to try it out. We were not disappointed, it is compareable to Bonsai except portions are a bit smaller and the fish just wasn't as fresh. Service was a tad slow, otherwise if in a pinch and wanting sushi late at night we would come back. It is also cheaper than Bonsai.

We ordered in through a food delivery service. I ordered the California roll, Mt. Fuji roll, and spicy Go Chu. I don't eat raw fish and was pleased at both the amount of cooked/fishless items as well as vegetarian options. Everything tasted great (after scraping some of the top of the mt. Fiji roll off) and was very reasonably priced. I got 24 pieces and an appetizer for $30. YUM!

Went for the first time with a party of six. We were sat and greated promptly, drinks arrived timely and thats where it (the service) came to a abrupt stop. We ordered several different types of Rolls and some edamame and a couple Bento boxes. The edamame came warm but was loaded with salt Sea Salt I think just too much. The Rolls were fine nothing I would rave about the flavors seem bland. Finally our Bento Boxes were forgotten so after waiting I had to go ask the server where they were and got AHHHHHHHHH I will ck. she never checked back after initial entrees were served, if so I would have not had to get up and go to the back and ask for more water. Overall a real disappointment.

I really need a 2.5 star option for this restaurant. The service was great (even if at 31 the younger waitresses kept calling me sweetie) but the chicken katsu wasn't. The meat texture & thickness was quite irregular and their katsu sauce is NOT what you get at all other Japanese restaurants. The rice, miso soup and salad with dressing were all good though.

"Meh. I've experienced better" Sums up how I feel about this place. The restaurant itself is uncomfortable, it's too open without anything to block the noise. We stopped in for dinner around 6pm, it wasn't very busy but it quickly filled up. They had hardly any vegetarian dishes, which is a deal breaker for my boyfriend and often for myself. It took quite sometime to get our food, even though we each ordered a simple noodle dish. The waitress was aloof and slow. It took even longer to get our check, in fact, it got so busy that I had to waive some other lady down who I think just came on shift. We wont be returning, plenty of other Japanese restaurants in town.

Some of the best Sushi Inhave had in the Rogue Valley.great service. Nice atmosphere. Bravo..I would definitely recommend.
(5)Misty J.
The Mt. Fuji and Golden Cali rolls are delish. I am not a fan of the yakisoba. The atmosphere is a bit depressing, but the waitresses are very sweet. I think that if they added a bit more cheerful decor and opened the blinds, it would make a big difference. Teriyaki bento is good. Miso soup is also good. Honestly, it's the dungeonesqe ambience that kind of turns me off. Still, the food and service is A-OK.
(3)Kayela Z.
I've never really gotten great service from the wait staff here, and the sushi is about average, but I really think they have the best teriyaki chicken in the valley. The bento was pretty large as well. When I want great sushi, I usually go somewhere else, but for teriyaki, this is the best.
(3)Roy S.
It's all just a little strange here.... everything we ate was a bit askew. The green tea ice cream hadn't the slightest hint of tea. The yakisoba wasn't soba at all - they served ramen noodles. The sushi was fresh - nice vegetables, but the seaweed was strange - it tasted fishy (this was a vegetarian sushi) and didn't even seemed quite like nori. The portions were quite small. It seems like they feel free to substitute for whatever any time they want, without notice. But the place was quite crowded for Sunday lunch; some folks must like it there...

I most likely won't eat here again, the service was terrible our server did not know the menu when I asked for "sushi combo a" I had to show her where it was on the menu, then when my bf was ordering her phone rang AND SHE PROCEEDED TO ANSWER IT!! Unacceptable, the food was ok although the sushi I ordered did not seem to be served at the right temperature a little too warm for raw fish and some pieces had a very "fishy" taste and not the good kind, when the end of the meal came we realized we were charged 2 dollars more than what the menu said for the spicy pork yakisoba special, our server then argued with us about the price when the menu is very clear. In the end we were charged the right price, after being able to hear her complaining about us to the other workers, who said we were right (obviously). I am in the food service industry and was appalled with the service I received it will take a lot for me to go back.

Fast Service and very good sushi. We ordered a wide variety and were very pleased. The atmosphere isn't anything to shout about but sometimes you just want good sushi without all the fuss and waiting. If that is what you're after then this is the place for it.

Friday night and there were only 2 parties in the entire restaurant. 3 Chefs were working, but foods take forever to arrive. The fishes were so smelly. We ordered some grilled salmon and it came out smelling rotted. Be careful if you have small children for they can get sick eating old expired foods. Putrid salmon smell was so strong that even after grilling and concealed with sauces still stink to heaven. Our child end up not able to eat anything but thank God stopped eating before getting sick. Unethical business practice.

Great Sushi. Friendly Service. Have been here dozens of times and everything is always fresh and delicious. It looks a little sketchy from the outside but the inside is very nice and the ambiance is great. Prices are decent too.
