A nice place to to eat, good food, great service, with a small town feel

My mother-in-law and I wanted to grab something to nibble for lunch, and decided to see what yelp had in mind. We found the Real Deal Cafe and absolutely loved it! Service was friendly and quick! Breakfast served all day. And reasonably priced! My mother-in-law had the yummiest pancakes with homemade syrups to choose from. Was a really enjoyable experience! And busy I might add. A total local gem! A must visit!

Every dish that came out of the kitchen looked wonderful! The restaurant was clean, open and inviting! However the bathroom needs some TLC. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The only downside was the noise. Loud chatter and clanking of dishes. It was like being in the school cafeteria again.

Delish food, great service and good prices! I will be back for sure!! I got the Kitchen Sink Omelet and shared some graham coconut French toast and both were amazing!

We has brunch here on a Monday morning. There were maybe 3 other tables busy, I got a little concerned since the place were pretty empty. The service was ok.... it was a bit slow and inattentive. The menu has the traditional menu items. I noticed someone next to our table had a buttermilk biscuit and honey, it looked pretty good, but I didn't try it. Food was pretty good. I made a few changed to my food and that was ok. Good place to get some good breakfast.

Was working up here for a week and wanted a delicious, veggie omelette breakfast. This place lives up to its name! Came here twice in one week! Great coffee, great food, amazing fresh fruit, and friendly service... I will be back next time I am up! Thank you, ladies!

The food was good, and prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere wasn't what I was expected when seeing their website. The feel of the website made me think it was a cafe-style, updated environment, but it's definitely more like an older diner. For the record, they DO say on their website "diner-style", but it gave a different impression from the photos. One of the servers that we had was not very good - no "good morning" or greeting, just "are you ready to order" kind of a thing, and I don't think she smiled once. But another waitress who assisted was very friendly and pleasant, so kind of a mixed bag. I would go back and try this place again to give the service another chance, when I'm in more of a diner mood.

Yelpers, you saved me from the local Black Bear and the hotel breakfast! I love this place - I appreciated it so much on my first visit that I planned the next day around breakfast there again! Just like the reviews promised, the cook actually produces eggs over medium! Perfectly! Awesome bacon! Meaty, large portion, and not too salty. My special orders were followed perfectly. I stick to a pretty limited food plan, so I didn't indulge in many of their specialties. Everything that came from the kitchen looked terrific, like the enormous biscuits. The owner is genuinely friendly and, on my second visit, remembered that I had driven to Klamath Falls the day before. So his questions and comments were personalized from our conversation the previous morning. There are lots of regulars first thing in the morning, and the server and owner know exactly what each customer wants. They know their clientele very well. I am so happy to have found this place for breakfast for all future Medford visits!

EXCELLENT customer service! Friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic. The food was phenomenal first I ordered French toast and was given the option of maple or marrionberry syrup. I tried both and they both were delectable. Refills on hot chocolate! I was in heaven! I also ordered biscuits and gravy with bacon. This was also very delicious. Then I got an egg over medium well and it came out prefect! I can't wait to take my fiancé here when I get the chance.

Been coming here for several years. This is one of my two favorite places to get breakfast, that's also locally owned and operated (no chain).
(4)Chelsea B.
The building isn't the most beautiful but the staff was very friendly! The food was very good! I had a delicious vegetarian scramble and the portion sizes were great! It was a good time

This place rocks for a cafe. The guys in the kitchen know when someone orders to eggs "medium", that is what they make - astonishing for most breakfast places. The service was very attentive and super friendly with FREE refills of OJ. Believe it!!!! This is rib sticking good stuff. For $9-10 bucks each, we got two monster breakfasts. There is a $5-6 menu section where you can get 2 eggs, bacon, ham and toast and other such meals. We went big. We decided, "Go big or don't bother". Chicken fried steak, sausage gravy, hash browns, two eggs, Monster (light and flaky) biscuit (not shown) yelp.com/biz_photos/real… . Are those perfect hash browns? That steak is huge and thick. Eggs perfect. FOUR EGG omelet with chili, cheese and onions. yelp.com/biz_photos/real… The chili should have been more spicy, it was good but bland. Again, the beautiful hash browns and Monster biscuit. This is not a hipster, foodie hangout like some highly reviewed places around Medford. The clientele and servers here are salt of the earth people not the douchebag, fluff that doesn't appreciate a really good kitchen. Those kind just want to brag to their friends that they ate some horribly overpriced, organic, locally grown horseshit served by some wheat germ munching bunny with a squeaky, falsetto voice who giggles alot and says, "like" every other word. For a serious breakfast, go to Real Deal Cafe. For pricey foo-foo crap, go somewhere else. I agree with Bob, go to the Human Bean drive thru a few blocks away before coming here as the coffee is just diner coffee.

My favorite place for breakfast! Ths omelets are great! Everything is always fresh and delicious.

I've been here for breakfast a few times. Food and service is great. It's a typical cafe type experience with pretty standard menu items but they do a great job of it.

Well, yeah, it is. We got in at seven. There were a couple of good ol' boys at the counter having their coffee. Old country music was on the radio and we had a real deal breakfast. Our server came back after taking our order and apologized that it would take a little bit of time for SO's crisp waffle--cook apologized to us, too. When all of our food came, which really wasn't that long, it was the real deal. I'm not being cute, it just was. My eggs were about as fresh as I have ever had. The sausage; hand formed fresh ground pork with fresh sage and seasonings. My biscuits were tender and light as a feather, the gravy; honest milk pan gravy. My only suggestion would be to get the gravy on the side. It would have been lovely to have one of the biscuits with a dab of butter and jam. SO's waffle was crisp and tasty, his bacon just like the stuff you remember. The coffee, ish. Like a diner. Stop at the Human Bean for a cup o' joe and haul in here and you would have a pretty perfect old fashioned diner breakfast.

Decent diner food and family friendly. We came for Sunday breakfast with the kiddies and found this place to be your basic local diner, complete with friendly and quick service. I got blueberry pancakes with bacon. The blueberries are sadly not real, so that kind of blew the pancakes overall, even though outside of the blueberries, the pancake itself was fluffy and good. The man got regular pancakes and seemed happy, although he opined the lack of real maple syrup (what do you expect from a Vermonter?). My kids devoured their plates-- Mickey Mouse pancakes, bacon and fruit. The bacon is top-notch here-- very very good, and I will return for more in a heartbeat. It's hard to find great bacon, made just right. I like that the fruit is not your typical melon medley, but instead was grapes, bananas, and strawberries. The kiddies loved that touch too! This place isn't anything fancy, but for a casual, cheap breakfast, this place will definitely satisfy you and your fam.
(3)Dianna D.
Nice, clean little cafe. Great service, good home cooking style food. Nothing fancy here but comfort food at it's best. We will definitely come again.
(5)Heather H.
There are not many breakfast/lunch places to choose from here in Medford, but we find ourselves coming back to this place for breakfast over and over. Everything on their menu for breakfast has been great! You ask for your eggs over medium and you get over medium eggs. Service is fast and friendly. Prices don't seem too shabby either. Whatever you do...Don't go to Elmer's, Shari's, or Denny's...those places don't know what realy heartly and healthy breakfast is!

We went for lunch this late fall and had been here several years ago when it may have had a different owner--it was good for breakfast then. This time I had the lunch special: Monte Christo Sandwich with vegetable bean & sausage soup. The sandwich was on regular white bread perfectly toasted. Inside thin slices of chicken, ham and cheese with an egg batter; good but not special. The soup was very good and not salty. There was a side of dill pickle chips, cabbage and thin rounds of pepper. This is a basic neighborhood breakfast-to-lunch cafe.
(3)Paul S.
Food was mediocre at best. Service was where this score really comes from though. Would I come back? Nahhhh.
(2)Kasandra L.
Great Service! Nice diner feel with tasty, fresh food. The pancakes are very large with different options of syrup. Their homemade biscuits are delicious and buttery. This place is great for the whole family.
(5)Brandi C.
Pretty good, not amazing but no complaints. The service was fast and friendly, the restaurant was very clean. Our food was good, the prices are reasonable, but it wasn't anything to write home about. I got french toast, it was well made but nothing extraordinary. They do offer regular (fake) maple syrup and marionberry syrup. I also got a side of bacon. The bacon was excellent, much better than most restaurants. My husband got chicken friend steak, scrambled eggs and hashbrowns. Again, everything was good, eggs were cooked perfectly, but nothing was amazing. If you are looking for a place with typical diner fare, well made at reasonable prices, this is a good place. If you are looking for something unique or fantastic you might look elsewhere.

Great place. Great service. Friendly waitstaff. I enjoyed the large coffee mugs. Awesome orange French toast and chicken fried steak. Outside seating a plus. Definitely coming back!
(4)William C.
This place is awesome! It is fresh and resonably priced. GREAT for breakfast!! This is one of those places you want to not tell everyone about because you know it will soon be a favorite among all, but I held my tongue too long. Trust me, this is a great place to eat! Oh and it is only open until 2pm every day, soooooo......don't delay!
(5)P C.
I love this place! Always friendly and prompt service. The Owner is often there and remembers you when you come back:) It is just a standard diner but it gets five stars for doing it right. Food is consistent and delicious. Coffee is good. Prices are fair. It is what I want and expect from a neighborhood diner. Keep it up:)
(5)Katie G.
This place is awesome. The food was delicious! We had the biscuits and gravy with sausage and eggs as well as "those potatoes" which were also amazing! We are glad we gave this place a try and will definitely be back!! Great service too!!
(5)Charlene B.
Good all American breakfast with friendly service. The Minnie Mouse pancake for my daughter was adorable. The breakfast special was well made. My husband enjoyed his "those potatoes." In my opinion, however, the biscuits and gravy weren't worth the calories... But I am a self admitted biscuits snob. They were definitely on the better end for this kind of a breakfast spot.
(4)Vladimurr N.
Really great food. Service with a smile. If you are a regular they remember your usual order. How many other places in medford still do that? The owner is super nice and actually involved with the restaurant.
(5)Jamie P.
Nice cafe, inexpensive and classic breakfast food. Made to order. Had biscuits and gravy, eggs over easy (which were perfectly cooked). Will definitely go again!
(4)Jessi L.
My husband and I went here for breakfast in search of good biscuits and gravy. He hasn't been able to find any in Southern Oregon that he actually likes because he expects that sausage gravy should actually have sausage in it. Crazy, I know. Anyway, he thought the biscuits and gravy were better than most he's tried down here but still lacking in the sausage that he likes. The biscuits were great though. I had a chili omelet and it was a good size but the chili had pretty much no flavor at all. I had to add salt, pepper and Tabasco sauce (which I never generally use) just to get a little flavor on it. The home fries were good but I'm pretty sure by how uniformly they were cut that they were frozen from a bag. They also weren't that generous with the helping of potatoes... but they were good for what they were. When you get an omelet you can either have an English muffin, biscuit or pancake... which I thought was pretty cool. I had the pancake and it had orange flavored butter on it that I thought added a nice touch. They also bring two containers of syrup to the table: warm maple syrup and a berry syrup. If I'm craving pancakes we will definitely be returning for those. Overall I actually did like the place... that atmosphere was nice and just based on how my omelet was made, though I didn't like the chili, I think I would like any of the other omelets they offer. We will be returning to try more stuff on the menu next time we go out for breakfast.

Breakfast all day? Heck Yes! (Well, until 2pm when they close, anyway!) My husband and I drove past this place a couple times before finally looking it up on Yelp (our go-to for the scoop on restaurants). Most reviews were good so we decided to give it a try because I REALLY wanted some breakfast! Great selection of breakfast items - I got the "Hungry Woman" breakfast which comes with 3 eggs any style, 4 pieces of bacon, 2 sausage (patty or link) and your choice of either potatoes or fruit, plus either toast, biscuit, or pancake! I went with scrambled eggs (nice and fluffy), sausage links (they were out of patties, but I had those the next time - yum!!), hash browns (ordered crispy and they were perfect), and the pancake (which was huge and comes with this great orange butter!). I ate it ALL (I was hungry - we had been moving all morning) and it was AWESOME! SO good, we went again 2 days later and I had the same thing! By the way - the bacon is the BEST I have ever had at a restaurant! And they have fresh-squeezed OJ with free refills! Yes - you read that right - FREE refills on OJ! The first time we went, my husband had the BOSS omelet - Bacon, Onion, Spinach, and Swiss. He liked it a lot - plenty of filling. He ordered it with the fruit and toast. His fruit was not your typical melon medley - he got bananas, strawberries, and really great watermelon! Toast was standard. Second time around, hubby got a cheeseburger and fries. He said it was good - not the best he has ever had, but definitely above average. Fries were ok, not his fave. Just your standard fare - he thought they had a bit too much skin on them. Service was friendly and attentive both times. We would have no trouble going back here to try more menu items (though I may find it hard to stray from the "Hungry Woman" because it is a deal!)

Great food for an good price. Wonderful staff and deserving owner. I have breakfast there once a week. Some of the best sausage gravy you can find. And their bacon is without equal. Also a great burger. Clean and very friendly.
(5)Ben C.
Very charming little place!! The service was very fast and the food eas excellent. It was nice to not be at a large chain. We were with a party of 8 and we were seated right away and we all received our food very quickly. I was very happy with the place and would go back the next time in Medford.
(4)Allison J.
Very good all around breakfast. Good portions and good service. We would return and enjoy the scramble again!
(4)Justin R.
Great place for breakfast or lunch. They buy local meats and produce and create fantastic diner food. I can go there on my lunch break, pay 6-8 bucks and get a wonderful plate lunch with some local love in less than 15 minutes. One of the best old school spots in all of Medford!
(4)R H.
I haveonly had coffee there with decent service. Now as for Denny' B's review, I must ask: There are hipster establishments in MEDFORD? Huh?
(3)Kelly C.
Great food, great service and great prices!!!! Every time we come to Medford to visit family we eat here for breakfast!!!
(5)Christy W.
I had the "some potatoes" dish which is basically hash browns topped with chopped bacon and cheese. The hash browns missed the mark. They were a bit greasy and not the least crispy. There was a substantial amount of nicely cooked bacon and just the right amount of cheese. The sourdough toast was done perfectly. The waitress was friendly and efficient and kept the coffee coming. I didn't have children with me, but could tell that this was a very family friendly establishment.
