Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Stopped by on the way home to SoCal. Tiny place, limited seating and steady stream of customers. Really good pastrami sandwiches, Pastrami was very lean, bread tasted homemade. Service was quick and very friendly. Recommend you try this place for a great sandwich that isn't pre made or re-warmed. A+++++

This place is a rare little gem in southern Oregon that makes me nostalgic for the East coast: real food, unpretentious ingredients, and good prices. It isn't fair for me to give a thorough food review, because I don't eat red meat BUT the turkey grinder was delicious. So many onions, pickles, peppers, mushrooms, and thick gooey cheese. All those chain deli-sandwich shops have all managed to taste the same so if it's a real sandwich you are wanting: go here. They bake the sandwiches on a tray that looks like it's been around since they opened decades ago---with a thick crust of burnt, black chard goodness. For some this may turn them off, but I say bring it on because I know all the flavor rests in that never-before-washed antique pan. I will be returning soon, Luigi's! PS...How has this place not been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Drives?

Fun guys running this place...super friendly family vibe. They work hard to make a mean sandwich....very unique and very delicious. Think warm-oven grinders with a unique sauce and portions of fresh goodies to die for--they don't skimp. Go for it...it's a Medford tradition!
(4)Chris C.
I've been coming here since I was seven years old and I have not been able to find a sandwich anywhere else like this place I drive about 100 miles once a month to visit this place and get a sandwich
(5)Scott F.
Really simple old-school really great tasting sandwiches, prices are low, the staff was very friendly and accomadating. Thank You Luigis!! I will definately be back.
(4)Ashley May U.
Best hungover food ever! Hands down! But really if are a wanting a super yummy sandwich, this is the place to stop! Subway has nothing on Luigi's. Better then jimmy johns as well!
(5)Melissa T.
I ordered the Pepperoni Pizza Grinder and it's pretty damn good. The workers are great and so is the atmosphere. Just walking into the shop we knew this place would be good. Do I sound like an advertiser? Maybe, but it's completely unintentional. If you're passing through Medford, I definitely recommend this place for a quick and great bite to eat!
(5)M K.
Pull up to this dive of a sandwich shop and you won't be sorry. Yummy sandwiches and super friendly service. The Garbage Grinder is it! Unique and delicious.
(4)Jimmy F.
This was the best sub I ever had. I had the garbage grinder. I showed up as they were closing and they were still very friendly. I'm 6 hours away, but if I'm going south on I-5 again I will without question be stopping by again.
(5)Ryan H.
You won't be disappointed, and if you are, then you probably should have gone to a vegan cafe

A nasty naughty shower yourself with grease...with a "garbage grinder"? Yes, please! Digs: A tiny hole, but what better place to produce a belly bomb then catty-corner to the Castle adult store? There's seating for a thin family of four inside and a few tables outside if you are lucky to grab it for a scenic mall parking lot view. Ate: World Famous "Garbage Grinder" - (worth getting all the toppings and trimmings, I was surprised by the panini style grilled bread which was a nice touch in comparison to a gluten tower like other shops are doing aka R & D Sandwich.) Final Thoughts: When you have that craving for crispy layers of meat oiled to a dripping sinful perfection come to Luigi's. They are still here for a reason.
(4)JM C.
This is a must visit for me when road tripping up and down the North West. The Original Garbage Grinder is just massive and hella good. It does take some time to cook but it's expected and worth the wait. The sandwich had everything except pickles. The meat was crispy, having gone through the oven while the cheese and onions were the perfect amount and consistency. It was an orchestra of meat and cheese in my belly. If you like noms, don't hesitate to come here! They offered to split the sandwich since they saw that we were sharing. Great service!
(5)Charlie K.
Yum! Now this stuff hits the spot. We were hoping to sit down and eat in a nice Air conditioned room... this wasn't it! It was hot outside and even hotter inside. The lady taking our order was pretty rude, and short with us, so thats why it's not a 5. So how did it get 4 stars with a gross hot room and a rude order taker?.... cause the food was that good. I got the Supreme garbage grinder or whatever it was, and my wife the italian one. Hers tasted like a hawaiian pizza, but in a delicious sandwich. The bread is amazing, soft and warm... but not like some places where its 80% of the sandwich. It's just right!

I don't care if the area I live in has "fine dining". What's important is that there are very good eateries that appeal to the hoi polloi. One such category is sandwich shop/deli. Luigi's was one of the first places I tried after moving here, based on Yelp reviews. There is much to like about this place. It looks like a sub shop you'd find in Delaware or Pennsylvania. It's a funky little building that, inside and outside, looks like it has been around since before WWII. The staff is very friendly You know they have East Coast roots because their signature sandwiches are called grinders. They are great grinders; messy, gooey, toasted, full of flavor. Their cheesesteak is ok. I'm still looking for a good cheesesteak hereabouts. Pastrami, good. The meatball sandwich is interesting. They serve it with grilled onions bell peppers and mushrooms. It sounds weird but is pretty good. If you prefer Jimmy John's or Subway, you might not care for Luigi's. Otherwise, try the grinder. One last thing about Luigi's...If you're going to be there any time around noon, phone in your order. They move pretty efficiently but are so busy around lunch time that if you don't phone it in, you might wait 15 minutes more. Regardless, this place is so good that it's worth the wait.
(5)Anne C.
They might be famous for their garbage grinder but there is NOTHING garbage about this roadside Italian sandwich shop tucked minutes off I5. Blink and you might pass it by but you must turn the car around and venture inside. They have been open since 1969 and are famous for their garbage grinder composed of three meats, two cheeses, peppers onions pickles and a special sauce that had a bit of a kick (hot sauce) to it. The secret is that the meats and bread are grilled and then broiled and what comes out is a hot gooey grilled sandwich that is of this world. This is NOT subway! They are have a variety of different 'garbage' options and I opted for the one that came with turkey and ham. We met several people that make regular pilgrimages here and we're told by the owner that Guy Fieri was interested in featuring their restaurant on his show and after eating here I can see why.
(5)Grant S.
Luigis is is an awesome little Italian sandwich shop a few minutes away from the Medford airport. Get here early because it gets crowded, but well worth the wait. Fresh slices meats and a ran by a small family. Much better than stopping at one of the many chains in the area. We ordered Philly cheesesteaks and were good, a bit greasy but good. Very nice people who work there and don't forget to put a pin on the map of where you are from.
(5)Frank D.
I've lived in the Medford/Ashland area for 4 years now and have always been curious about this place. Yet after all of this time, today was the first time I tried it. It's small but there is seating inside which fit the 5 of us and seating outside as well. I got the 12 inch ultimate garbage grinder. It was great, being Italian I know good Italian food, I've lived in NYC and have family there as well so naturally I'm a bit stand offish with Italian spots out here. I gave Luigi's a full 5 stars because the food tasted good, the atmosphere was great and despite being busy the staff kept their cool. One thing that really keeps this place busy, is the simplicity. It's a grinder spot and their menu is straight forward. I cannot remember if they have a meatball sandwich, I think I saw a Italian sausage sandwich. This place doesn't need to change a darn thing although a simple chicken Parm sandwich would be a great addition.
(5)Kiwe W.
Omg! The best gut buster I have had in a very long time! Small place. Seating for maybe 5 inside. Little tables and benches outside. Bathroom was clean. And...amazing sammy!!!!
(5)Stan S.
I try to remain objective on highly rated places. Some are due to a bandwagon effect as I've been to more than one where my experience was very pedestrian. This place wasn't one of them. It lived up to the hype. Friendly staff, great food. Again I thank Yelp for the find. Never in a million years would I have stopped into this place. Now, I'll make a point of getting a meal here whenever I'm in town.
(5)I T.
We returned to the Medford area after being gone for 10 years and were THRILLED to see Luigis was still here!! We went in tonight and had EXCELLENT service; the two ladies that were there were very friendly. I did take about 20 minutes for our 4 sandwiches to be made, but perfection cannot be rushed!
(5)Allison K.
Update: this time the service was WAY better! Definitely redeemed our first experience :)
(5)Kyle M.
Luigi's is a hard place to review. I've been many times. Sometimes you get an awesome sandwich. If I just consider the "good times" I'd say Luigi's is worth 5 stars. Unfortunately, consistency is not on the menu here. For every great sandwich I've had, there has been a frustrating experience to match. Most recently I ordered a sub for take out. Got all the way back to work and discovered it was someone else's order. Frustrating, but I understand mistakes happen. I gave them a call to let them know what happened, and to ask that they start making my sandwich so it can be ready when I get back to their location. The employee refused and says that I'm stuck with what I got. Dude, please don't give me a hard time when I'm hungry! I asked to speak to the manager, but the employee refused and hung up on me. I drove back to the location and spoke with the manager. He says he was unaware that I had asked for him. Maybe it wasn't my place to expect the employee be disciplined. Maybe he got yelled at later? I don't know. But the manager didn't come across as apologetic nor did he seem to really care about the situation. I was given a refund and I left hungry. It's a bit more effort, but next time I want a delicious artery-clogging sandwich I'll stop at Fred Meyer, buy some ingredients, and make it in my own toaster oven. At least I'll save myself the grey hair.
(2)Ryan M.
Such a great garbage grinder and philly I have had here. Kinda long lines during lunch but so worth the wait!!!!
(5)Mark C.
Get the Garbage grinder its awesome. This is a fabulous little sandwich shop. I ordered the regular garbage grinder, which is salami, ham and pepperoni and Anne ordered the turkey and ham. Both were fabulous, I recommend getting the 8 inch. The 12 inch is big as all sandwiches come with many toppings. This was a great find on our way to California.
(5)Suzanne W.
Great Garbage Grinder. Big too. We shared 1 large. Garlic bread is really good. Misleading though, because it's got cheese and comes with a nice tomato sauce. Friendly, " Glad you enjoyed it" type staff. If you are dieting, stay away!
(5)Jeff B.
I'm all about dumps with great food or local flair. This place has average written all over it. Not much italian about it. Think Quiznos, with a heap of stuff on a hero roll going on a conveyor belt pizza oven.
(3)Derek B.
Nice people and amazing sandwiches. The ambiance and indoor seating left something to be desired. However, I would highly recommend for quick eats on the go. Garbage grinder is a must.
(5)Jerome B.
Wow what a good sandwich I had the veggie being vegetarian and it was great. Very busy place for so small but worth stopping in. Being vegetarian I usually don't set the bar to high but this place is very good exceeded my expectations
(5)Jern Y.
I ordered the Ultimate Garbage Grinder and it was fantastic. Generous on the meat and portion sizes, though I did order a large. It's a lot but I finished it and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. For 3pm in the afternoon on a weekday, they sure seemed to be pretty busy. Well deserved based on my one visit. My only minor complaint would be that they were a little slow with one sandwich but it was worth the wait. I would definitely go again.
(5)Rachel S.
So good all the time!! Best sandwich place in town.
(5)James M.
This the second time my wife and I had a sandwich at Luigi's. The first time, we had the "World Famous Garbage Grinder," and it was just OK. We felt the deli meats were lost in the french roll, which quickly became too soggy to be called bread. I am very happy we returned today, (R&D's Sandwich Factory being closed for the holiday weekend), because we tried the hot Eastern Pastrami, and it was very good. The pastrami was lean and favorable, although, to be honest, not up to Peppered New York Pastrami Standard, but still very tasty for Oregon. The only reservation we have, again, is the french roll. Too soft, and the meat juices turns it to mush.
(4)Chandler H.
Holy shit this was good. I had a okay week but I ate this and my chakras were aligned. My god. It was really good. Mario Party 8 was a good restaurant. Sandwiches are prime. They had cheese and my favorite type of mountain dew. So this was prime. Mostly enjoyed the mountain dew.
(5)Eric K.
Awesome old school sandwich shop! The smell from the door alone is worth 5 stars
(5)Peter V.
Sandwiches are made to order. Picture a subway and then picture way way better! Takes sometime because the shop is small but the end product is fantastic. I have read a review about the service, it happens. Not everyone has a good day always. Kill them with kindness is my motto. I think you will find a sandwich that you will want to tell a friend about. Call in your order to avoid a super long wait. I wish they would open up in cali closer to me :-)!! Wifi would be great because you wait awhile for your fresh sandwich.
(5)Madison S.
The shack-like, hole in the wall look is what attracted me to this place. I knew it had to be a local sweet spot. I was right. I've only had the World Famous Garbage Grinder but it was great. it's heavy, so it's better during the cooler months than mid summer. get there at opening so you can grab a table!!
(4)Ian G.
Easily the best sandwich I have ever had. I would put Luigi's Garbage Grinder up against any sandwich place in the country, NYC, Chicago, New Orleans... Luigi's hands down!
(5)Mercy S.
Just like the reviews said: flavorfully filled sandwiches to fill you up. We had three: ultimate garbage grinder, and the garbage grinder (top left two menu options not sure if I have the names right). And the Hawaiian. The ultimate and the Hawaiian were my favorite. I love the map with pins showing where everyone was from. Total hole in the wall place with great friendly service! Would've been 5 had the bread held its own but it soggied up pretty quickly. was here in 8/2013
(4)Zulu W.
I just ate here for the first time. It's a tiny little shack on the side of the road but it absolutely rocks! I had the pastrami with hot mustard and my counterpart got the world famous garbage grinder. The hot mustard was on point! Everything was delicious! Great little mom and pop owned joint. I will come back here when I'm in town again.
(5)Melissa D.
Every time I go to Medford I stop here. The meatball sandwich is so good! The wait time is short and it's reasonably priced. The only thing I don't like is the lack of seating but the food makes it worth it.
(4)Doug L.
Love the original Grinder. A little salty but delicious. Super friendly staff. Calling ahead during the lunch rush will reduce your wait time significantly.
(4)Chris O.
This place does have history and character but I didn't really care for the food. It all seemed pretty low quality to me and it really all about the meat, cheese, bread combo here so don't go looking for anything slight healthy.
(3)Jeff C.
If you are new to Medford or passing through, you gotta try a sandwich here. They have been in business forever, after you try a sandwich you will see why.
(4)Erin H.
Sometimes you're in the mood for a major gut bomb. When you are, and if you happen to be in Medford (or Grants Pass), your best bet is to get a Garbage Grinder from Luigi's. There's something really special about this sandwich. I can't quite put my finger on what it is--but I'm pretty sure that it has to do with the odd combination of ham, salami, and pickles. It's a flavor that I had never experienced before I sat down with this thing. Sensitive tongues beware: The first time I had this sandwich I had it with both jalapenos and pepperoncinis. It was so spicy my nose started running. The second time I went without, and it was much better.
(4)Cee A.
You remember when Quizno's used better ingredients and actually put some thought into putting together sandwiches and didn't just slap things together? Imagine that, and you're getting an idea of what you'd find at Luigi's. It isn't remotely healthy -- it's a very greasy sandwich, with all the cheese, sauce, and fatty meats all rendering into your grinder. But it is quite tasty, and as mentioned earlier, is a huge step above Quizno's and the like. As others have noted, they don't exactly move at warp speed at Luigi's, so keep it in mind if there's a line and you're in a hurry.
(3)Megan A.
Garbage grinder was amazing!!! This is my new favorite sandwich shop. Customer service was outstanding and I can't wait to go back!
(5)Robin C.
No complaints from this happy camper. Spicy sausage, perfectly grilled veggies and wonderfully toasted bun make for a satisfied Robin! Now if I just had an extra button to let my pants out a bit at the waist............:/))
(5)Dick H.
The food tasted burnt, and was rather greasy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Other delis are better, not much reason to go back. Sorry.
(2)Leah H.
Garbage grinder. 'nuff said. In my opinion, grinders are a category of sandwiches that are too often overlooked or neglected. Luigi's comes correct with a solid sandwich. Albeit a bit heavy on the onions. For onion lovers like me, it is a non-issue. I love the spiciness of the peppers in combination with the bold flavors of the meats. This is a grease-ball and it tastes so good.
(5)Michael D.
Best Grinder in the Northwest. These sandwiches are very flavorful. My Pops took me here and Ive been going back every time I visit. Some of the best in the area. Come Hungry
(4)Masil M.
Oh the greasy grinder gut-bomb goodness! Though there is a bit of a wait for your order (best to order by phone in advance), it's worth it. This is the kind of sandwich that will leave a grease stain on your shirt and satisfied burpy smile on your face. Not for the faint of heart or the heart healthy. Made on a bread that can stand the onslaught of cooked onions and cured meats, the sandwiches are big and sloppy and delicious. Yum!
(4)Wes M.
This is a great little sandwich shop! A small little hole in the wall place but Awesome! I wish this place was near Seattle! Freak'n great grilled sandwiches! A must try if in Medford Oregon.
(5)Claire R.
It was a dreary early winter day in Medford. I stepped in Luigi's for the first time and the woman behind the counter asked how I was. After I answered 'Good' she cheerfully told me I was about to get better, what a nice way to brighten my day! The chicken sandwich I ordered was amazing(the BBQ sauce isn't slathered on, it's more of a marinade on the chicken, which was what I was hoping for), and the staff really made me feel welcome. It seems like they would be happy to customize any sandwich I wanted, I think next time I want to try the veggie sandwich with added marinara sauce. Mmmmm.
(5)B F.
Stumbled upon this tiny place on the side of a busy road while driving through town. So glad we stopped! My husband had the garbage grinder and I had the pastrami. Delicious, reasonably priced and good quality meats, cheeses, and bread. We will be back for sure! Sort of a hole in the wall but very clean, little to no seating so if you are there during the lunch rush you may need to plan on eating in your car or taking it to the park. So worth it!
(5)Michael C.
This place is the BOMB. It fits every definition of those quintessential fabulous hole-in-the-wall "dive" type (though this place is clean) tiny street corner eateries you've gotta try. While very popular amongst the locals, they have a map of the country on a wall with hundreds of pushpins stuck all over over it indicating where customers have come from. I've eaten there many times in the past (I grew up in the area) though my last visit prior to this weekend was many years ago. Traveling to Medford this weekend, I made it a point to brag about this joint to my girlfriend, who is a Quiznos and Togos fan. "Uh-huh....we'll see..." she said, rolling her eyes. We each had their signature sandwich, the Garbage Grinder (I got a large with jalapeños, garlic, pepperoncini and lots of onions). Excellent stuff. It's nice to see the consistency of the food hasn't changed. Yeah, it's a little greasy and messy, but...my daddy always used to say "If it wasn't messy, it probably wasn't any good". He was right. The staff was super nice and the prices are still reasonable. Now, we're back home, six hours northeast, and my girlfriend is sad that there isn't a Luigi's in Bend, OR. Her opinion now is Quiznos and Togos don't even come close and raves about the Garbage Grinder. She says it was almost worth the trip alone. 'nuff said. Read the other reviews, too, and you'll see lots of other people feel the same way. Go to Luigi's. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Kat B.
I LOVE THE PASTRAMI SANDWICH!!! There should never be less than 5 stars for Luigis Sandwich Shop they are over the top fantastic!
(5)John E.
I swear they must put crack in those sandwiches!! They are that good - blows quiznos, subway, etc. out of the water. Divey and small, the smell is out of this world - and you must get all the onions. They're delish! The staff are all genuinely friendly and proud of the delights they serve. I love the Ultimate Grinder And their Philly Cheese Steak is awesome too.
(4)Frank K.
Since 1969, Luigi's has been known for it's signature sandwich - the "Garbage Grinder". Fresh baked bread, salami, ham, pepperoni, secret sauce and 2 cheeses are melted in the oven and then covered with fresh pickles, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions & olive oil ez salt. I added free pepperocini's. Arguably, the best grinder in Southern Oregon. If you're cruising North or South on I5, near Medford, I highly recommend trying the "Garbage Grinder" at Luigi's. Be prepared to take it with you as this tiny Italian sandwich joint gets packed. Super friendly staff and service.
(5)Jennifer H.
This was one of our pit stops on our way to Portland. This place is freaking awesome, and it was kind of packed when we visited. I have no idea why there aren't more reviews on here! Anyhow, I got the garbage grinder . . . and it's f-ing huge for $6. No tax in Oregon! Woot.
(4)Michael R.
I discovered Luigi's in the 80s and it hasn't changed a bit. The joint is unpretentious and the garbage grinder with jalapenos and banana peppers is unbeatable. Be prepared to wait 20 minutes or so for your sandwich because thay are always busy. It has always been worth the wait.
(5)David N.
I stopped by after my gf was looking for a quizno's place around the area. Instead I found this place so decided to try it out. Ultimate garbage grinder - it's kinda like a pizza in a sandwich without the marinara sauce. Like Keith S. said, it wasn't necessarily one of the best sandwiches in my life but it was good and it was different. I think you have to get all the add-ons (maybe minus the raw onions for onion-haters) like jalapenos and pepperoncinis to enjoy the full texture and flavor. They also passed around garlic bread while people were waiting and I don't think this is the normal process but man was that garlic bread good! Not sure if it's on their menu but if not, they need to :) Service is super friendly and you definitely get that local feel. I think it's one of those things where you should try at least once to see for yourself.
(4)Katherine T.
Googled for a sandwich shop in Medford on our way back to California. We were not looking for subway or togo's...we found The Garbage Grinder! Such a great place with a great menu. The owner greeted us and made some suggestions. I can't say enough how great this place was. We will make a trip again next time we are visiting!!!!
(4)Durk D.
One of the best sandwiches I've had. Exceptionally kind service. Can take some time (best to call ahead) but well worth the wait. The large is a great value, lots of food.
(5)Sarah H.
Loved going here in high school for lunch and always wished it was closer. Here, year later, nothing has changed. Food is still awesome and can't really complain about the prices, although I don't think if I were a high school kid this would be lunch often.
(5)Jonah K.
Garbage grinder. Eat one and then go on a nice walk somewhere to recover your energy and burn off some of the grease. An awesome sandwich from a place that epitomizes "hole in the wall." It's a Medford institution and you need to try it at least once. For those who don't want to stomach the full effect of the grinder, the other sandwiches are good too, if somewhat pedestrian by comparison.
(4)Julia R.
Stopped in here with my mom and sister while visiting a while back. My mom said she'd been wanting to try this place for years, so I said why not? Prices were higher than Subway, but that's to be expected. Definitely not an eat in spot, more of a storefront. Narrow, hard to get in and out of parking lot, so be warned. However, this place was really busy, and that says something good about the food. My mom ordered, got the meatball sub and is now in love with this spot and committed to coming back with my brother in law. Greasy goodness is how she described it :) My mom is someone that likes to find fault in food, so this is high praise... if you like grinders, get here.
(5)Jill F.
Meatball sub and Grinders were great. We called ahead and it was ready when we arrived. Very friendly service. We'll go back.
(5)Steve S.
New to this place....the ultimate garbage grinder was recommended. Wow, what a mouth full of flavor. Nice size sandwich. I was devouring it and forgot to take a breath. Wish I had this place close to home.
(4)Heather V.
Garbage Grinder. As tempted as I am to use those two words to sum up my whole review, I NEED to explain why those particular words are oh so important to those of you reading this review. Assorted grilled meats. Melted cheese. Unique sauce. Onions. Tomatoes. Pickles. Green peppers. Pepperonicinis. Jalapenos. And whatever else you'd like to add [or take away] making for one big, juicy sub. Not convinced? There are plenty of other sandwich combinations available, and I am positive you will find one that you will fall head-over-heels in love with. I'm just slightly behind in my realizations that tiny, hole in the wall, local restaurants truly are among the best places to eat... Don't let the appearance or size of this place fool you, it provides nothing less than an extremely satisfying, give me five more sandwiches to take home with me kind of meal.
(5)Jeff K.
I've been getting ultimate garbage grinders from Luigi's for many years. They have always been consistantly great. If you don't want to wait you can phone your order in and have it ready to go when you get there. I became lactose intolorant a while back and when Mark, the owner, found out he suggested I get the sandwiches with meatball sauce instead of the cheese. They are wonderful that way. Luigi's is truly one of the very few outstanding places to eat in Medford.
(5)Keith S.
Wasnt the best sandwich I've ever had but it was pretty tasty. I had the world famous garbage grinder and it was full of greasy goodness. The onions and green peppers had a fresh crunch to them and went good with the greasy meatl. Felt like I had a brick in my stomach after but it was well worth it.
(4)GranolaGorilla Z.
Try the pepperoni pizza grinder with all the veggies...yum! I am so sad I don't travel to Medford for work anymore. I'll definitely stop by if I ever take a road trip up north someday or if I'm lucky enough to have another job up there. Until then, I will have to dream of Luigi's Sandwiches.
(5)June A.
I was in Oregon for a business trip and a friend recommended I had to eat here. It was a must if I was in Medford. This place was somewhat close to the airport, so it worked out. I was running late, so I decided to scarf it down while I drive. Bad bad idea! It was really juicy & had the right amount of flavors and portion, and good amount of crunch ratio to the bread. It was hot and melt in your mouth goodness. I thought I had the sandwich pretty secured and nothing would drip, but it was just to scrumptious and all the juices just oozed out onto my clothes. I think that's when a bib would have come in handy. I think I got the hot italian sub sandwich. Much much better than Quizno's or Subway and has a lot more meat, substance, and kick to it. They also have this map with a bunch of pins, so you could put down where you are from. The map has people from all over coming to eat here. Tips: 1.Very little parking, so be prepared to circle around. 2. Ask for lots of napkins or wear a bib because the grease from the sandwich WILL get on you if you are eating in the car! 3. Bring a change of clothes. :p

Luigi's garbage grinder is so good. This place is a hidden Medford treasure located just across from the mall and not far from I-5. Everything on this sandwich just gels together once it goes through the oven. It must be the secret sauce. Why can't Quizno's and Subway make something that tastes this good. I wish I could frachise this place! The location is cute but small...there are a few spots to eat at inside...also some tables outside. The only thing I don't like about this place is that there exhaust system sucks. You and your clothes will end up smelling like meat, cheese and onions all day. I know this sounds negative but the sandwich is so good...plus the smell will stay with you hours after you have eaten it! Try this: ask your wife nicely to go in and order the sandwiches and offer to watch the baby in the car! This worked like a charm...except we ate the grinders in the car and we smelled meat, cheese and onions in the car for the rest of the day! But it was worth it!

Lived in Medford for about a year now and finally tried Luigi's for the first time. I had the turkey anD ham grinder and I must say that it was pretty good. A bit messy but pretty good. Also the staff was great.

Having family that lives in Medford, I often make the drive down, and Luigi's is my absolute first stop, and I swing by again for the garbage grinder on my way out of town. The onions are the best, and the sandwich is simply amazing. Stop here if you're anywhere near Medford...It makes my 8 hour drive to see family worth it!

Went there once ordered the meatball sandwich and it was bitter and dry and crumbly the meatballs just fell apart. Horrible! and way too expensive.

Garbage grinder is simply amazing! People are friendly and has a 'local gem' feel to it - the sort of stuff you'd see on travel channel and say "I wish we had that here!" Parking and (trash can stool) seating is limited, so come early!!!

You have to go with The Garbage Grinder. It's their signature sammich. Its tasty but a bit greasey.

Had the garbage grinder and it was pretty freaking tasty. Was a little light on the meat overall......but the toppings were great. Lots of onions which I love, jalapenos, pepercini, green peppers. Wasn't as big as I thought it would be based on other reviews. Super small place, maybe 2-3 people could sit inside. Some outside seating. Nothing fancy, by darn tasty and messy. Will definitely come back if I ever make it to Medford again.

Really good grinders and grinder like sandwiches. If you're looking for a good full flavored sandwich to go then this is definitely your place!

The garbage grinder was pretty pretty good. Will definitely be coming back here for more sandwiches since good food like this is slim pickins in Medford. Highly recommended!

Delicious sandwiches! A small restaurant started since 1969. Highly recomment their world famous garbage grinder, a open-face sandwich with ham, salami, onions and peppers. Yummy!

ok, the reviews are great on this place but trust me, i used to live in philly and know sandwiches, especially philly cheesesteaks. i've had all the best in philly, pat's, geno's, tony luc's. the garbage grinder was pretty good but certainly nothing to write home about. the "so-called" philly cheesesteak was not even in the neighborhood. it was a cheesesteak, but nobody in philly makes them like this. mayo, mustard, mushrooms, bell peppers, cheddar, and terriaki, no way. plus the steak was'nt chopped finely. this sandwich was an insult to philly, they should change the name to just "chessesteak" not "philly cheesesteak", fatty also. it's really tough to find a good philly cheesesteak on the west coast, don't get me wrong, i love the west coast, it's beautiful. i used to live in az for awhile after philly and there are a few places that do ok but they are usually overpriced and undersized and always try to throw mayo on them, yuk. if anybody knows of any other places in the southern oregon area that does the philly cheesesteak proud please post and i will try them. otherwise i'm looking for steakum's to do it myself. maybe i'll open my own place and show them how it's done. respect.
