My co-workers hyped "fun" for Howiee's but it fell short...and dry of filling our cup of satisfaction. Luckily, it started out slow given ample attention to each table with our need for tasteful mixed concoctions but as the night grew so did the crowd (which was entertainment in itself) but the servers disappeared. Digs: I loved the roar of the townies and old-time locals grooving to Clapton and my fellow team chimed in and created bubbly memories that kept us distracted from the failing service. The decor is quite impressive with the splattering of classic vinyls across the walls and ceiling. The women's bathroom door has a proud nipple to boot! Overall Food: For what the bar was, the chicken strips & fries were pipping hot and maintained our belly-hunger. Numerous comments were made on how they have decent items but we did go further past the ribs and chicken. Overall Drinks: It falls under the spell of heavy-on-the-juice low on the alcohol to probably equate for affordability. They had 1 scotch Dewar's which may be a future sign of what their clientele wants and what they really care about. Ate: Chicken Strips, Fries - standard level (crunchy-yum hot mamma) Drank: Mimi's - Tanqueray, St.Germain, soda (light, hint of flavor) Margarita - (tall glass - too much juice to tequila ratio)

Excellent beer selection, and a refreshingly different menu. This is a Louisiana-themed restaurant. Red beans and rice are delicious. Cole slaw was great. The fried chicken was just OK. I would have preferred some other dishes on the menu, I'm sure. I will definitely return to Howiee's to try the jambalaya and ALL THE OTHER menu items! See you there:)

The interior was great for a bar, good atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was bad and our order was messed up and my buddy and I ate separately at least 15 minutes apart. I would try it again, and chalk it up to a mistake but my burger just sucked and there are a lot of burger joints in town. If I was just here for beer I probably would have liked it a lot more.

I have come here many many times, service is generally good however tonight they were understaffed. It's always a fun place, great drinks and food is above average for bar food.

Amazing. Just ordered the Cajun rib eye special, medium rare, and it came out perfect. Presentation was there. The temp was right. Flavor was amazing. Bartender was cool. You earned my repeat visits.

This place has horrible customer service! All of the bartenders were so rude, and favored customers. the security guards mean mugged our entire group and were so disrespectful like we were beneath them! very uncomfortable atmosphere. The decor was the only thing that didn't suck here. That's not enough! You treat people like crap that's all you will get in return. We will definitely not be coming back here nor will I recommend it to anyone.

Can't give it anything but five stars. The decor is awesome and I met my wonderful husband of six years here. We still go back for lunch some days in honor of our meeting. Food and service are great during the day. Lacking at night but guess what. It's busy assholes!

I really like Howie's on Front, friendly bartenders, awesome food, mouth watering drinks, and a nice patio for smokers. :) Your friendly taxi driver Eric!

This is a very fun place to hang out. The bartender was extremely friendly and I love how you get play slots! What a fun place that offers Jell-O shots in syringes. I ordered a delicious lemon drop and a cinnamon whiskey shot. I ordered the fried chicken which was a little overcooked but still good! It was really neat to see a signed guitar from Nickelback at the bar!

This is a pretty fun place. I like how there are different sections to the place. There is the part where they have live music, the outside patio area where you can chill and drink/eat some grub, and then there is the actual bar part where they have pool tables and a juke box and such. I came here with my boyfriend to see his boss play with his band. It was a nice environment! Nice people that work there, too. There was a girl walking around with this tray of syringes with alcohol in them, that I learned were jello shots. (we never go out drinking. We had absolutely no idea why she was carrying those) haven't tried the food there yet. It was pretty expensive and I hadn't gotten paid yet so I was broke (lol). But they had some damn good onion rings. I would definitely recommend coming here with some friends and getting into some local music! Get on that dance floor, people!

Cesar salad was awesome. Beer selection is going downhill, could be better. Friendly staff and good music bumped it up to a 4.

I had a sandwich and it was pretty good. There's a lot of cool rock n' roll memorabilia on the walls. They have some fairly uncommon beers.

Honestly, coming to Howiee's was not my intention but I'm very happy it happened. I wanted to go somewhere for my 21st and a couple people and I had no idea where to go. I turned 21 on Friday the 13th so we went at midnight on Friday. We wanted to go to a different bar but it was closed. Howiee's honestly saved my night by staying open till 1:30. We walked in and the bartenders were both super friendly. One even helped me pick out my first drink (an Elvis Presley blue Hawaiian) and it was delicious. I also had a lemon drop shot (also, amazing) a dirty Shirley (YUM) and a cranberry woo woo shot which was meh but then again it was my first time drinking. All were pretty fair priced considering it is a popular bar. I believe my big drinks were 6.00 and the shots were around that price. The decor in the place is just off the walls awesome. Had very catchy classic rock going and I can't wait to go back. I hope my next visit is just as awesome.

Service sucked. Dinner order screws up!! Bar server too busy talking instead of serving drinks.

Went to Howiee's tonight for food! I'm not used to being in a small town and not being able to grab dinner at a restaurant at 9pm. I had tried several other places and everything was closing between 8-9pm on a Saturday night! So weird. Anyway... Howiee's was recommend to me so I checked it out. The bar area is really nice. Clean and respectable. I didn't get an ick vibe or sketchy vibe at all. I REALLY liked the lighting. It's light enough to actually see the people you are with but not so bright that it's uncomfortable. It's perfect! I wish more bars would catch onto that. I ordered the spanky sandwich - cute name! It was really fabulous! The flavors were incredible. The issue is #1 the website says the cost of this baby is $8.50. So why did it cost me $11? Maybe they charged me extra for the chips? I don't know. I didn't ask for chips but they came with the sandwich. I don't know how else to say it, those chips were disgusting. I ate about 3 of them and then decided I didn't want to waste my calorie intake on them. There was ranch and ketchup to dip them and it didn't help. They were cut too thick and over cooked. I don't think they were fresh. Really... gross. The sandwich was very good, but is was on the small side. Like 1/3 to 1/2 the size of a "normal" sandwich that I get at a restaurant. So for $11... I'd eat somewhere else! As for the service - I had a good experience. I plopped myself down right in front of the bartender area and that got their attention pretty quick. This is a REALLY popular hang out! It was very fun and energetic. They really should hire more people to help. It was a Saturday night. There were probably 150 people there. Having 3 people serve that many people is quite ridiculous. The bartenders (there were 3 that I could tell) were non-stop busting their butts. They just need to hire more help. If they don't they will start loosing customers. If a place is nice that is great. But you can only go so far on bad customer service. Like I said, I waited a little while, but I could see how busy they were so it didn't bug me. I could tell that it bugged other people though. So just know when you come here it's busy, it's fun, and you are going to wait to get service.

Rolled into town at 9pm on a Monday night, not a living soul on Main Street. Walked around for a bit and found this place still open. Must be a Monday, cuz there weren't too many people inside either. Area was fairly spacious, and fairly bright for a bar/restaurant, but the better to see my food with. Bartender seemed nice, took my order without problems, didn't feel like I had to wait too long to get his attention. Ordered a pulled pork sandwich with fries, and a beer on tap. Came out to be about $13. Taste was decent, portions were acceptable. If you need prepared food after 9pm, this might be the only game in town. Verdict: 3* during normal business hours. 5* after 9pm-cuz it's the only game in town.

Not having been back to Medford in more than 10 years and having an overall bad taste in my mouth for it, I was hesitant to go downtown when my friend recommended it. While growing up in the area all we did was go cruising downtown -- driving around and around in circles looking for friends parked in some random parking lot. Besides the strip club, the only other downtown attraction I can remember is Ground Zero. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked into Howiee's, even though I felt like a grandma. I was impressed by the band posters on the wall, especially since I didn't know anyone who actually knew those bands while I was growing up in Medford. The overall vibe was really mellow and fun, again not what I was expecting. We actually ran into some old high school friends and had a really good time drinking and catching up. Our bartender was very patient and good at her job. There was never a line for the restroom (amen!) and drinks were pretty reasonably priced and served in large glasses. Oh, and there's a late night pizza window right next door. I think the slices were $2.50. If I ever get back to Medford I'd have no problem coming back to Howiee's for a drink or two.

This place could be good. They have good food, especially for a bar but their bartenders are awful, particularly the young-ish girl who probably is some sort of an addict. I've been there lots of times but never have had a bartender be so rude to me. I saw her pouring a drink, which she was being very generous with, I commented to my boyfriend "Now that's how you pour a drink!" and the bartender looks at me and goes "YOU GOT SOMETHING TO SAY, HONEY?" She obviously thought I was talking shit, which I obviously wasn't, but either way, why on earth would you say that to a customer?!? They really need to hire better help.

Been going to Howiee's for 8 years and, as long as you go early enough, you can actually enjoy your experience. Usually hang out here once a week and enjoy myself. Why the 3 stars you might ask??? There has been several price hikes since I first started going, however the most recent is way out of line in my opinion. Before, $9 for the main burger I usually eat was borderline high, but on the low end in comparison for the rest of the places downtown. They just jacked up their burgers to up to $11 and took away the salad/soup/fries option. You now get really bad frozen potato chips and they charge an extra $1.50 for fries. So, now you are at $12.50. I can think of several places downtown that have way better food for less. So, I guess this is now just a watering hole for me. Pretty bummed.

I have had two totally different experiences at Howiee's. Unfortunately, the first was far superior to the second. Our first trip was on a weeknight...not busy. The bar staff was prompt and friendly. We got our drinks right away and were able to place our food order in a timely fashion. We didn't have long to wait for food, (burgers) and it was good and hot. Waitresses paid attention, brought second rounds of drinks, checked on us...all good. We were excited to go back and try some of the house special menu items. Second visit, Saturday evening, maybe 7ish? The place was busier, but NOT busy. We sat down and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, .... ..... ..... Meanwhile, a guy at the bar that looked like he could be an owner ?? was BS'ing with some other guy and ignoring the rest of the goings on in the restaurant. Another patron went to the bar and waited and waited and waited and waited for about 15 minutes to get a drink. Remember: NOT that busy! We started looking around...lots of tables with people and no drinks, or looking around for a waiter or for their food... Eventually a waiter/bartender came to our table and asked "is there something I can get you guys...you wanna order something?" Uh...YEAH. That's what we are sitting here for! I immediately told him we would want to order dinner and needed menu's. He brought my drink but forgot my husbands order. Had to go back and make that. Never brought menus. Never came back to check on us. Meanwhile the owner looking guy is still chatting away. Another table has been seated and they too are looking around wondering when they will get drinks... We drank our beverages and then I went up to the bar and got the attention of the waiter, paid my tab and left. The guys that had been waiting for drinks for a while had come up behind me to get an order placed. As I left...I wished them luck. Does Howiee's have good food? Well the burger was good...but I never got to try their specialties. Clearly there is some issue with the management/waitstaff because it is not acceptable to ignore your clientele like that. I honestly don't know if we will go back to Howiee's but if we do...it won't be on a weekend night.

Definitely my favorite place! The bartenders are great and the food is amazing (try the onion rings...no, really, try them). The environment is really mellow and just kind of laid back; it's not terribly dark inside like some of the other bars in town. If you plan on a night on the town, definitely give Howiee's a shot! They've also opened up their extension and they've got live music and dance club nights.
(4)Reilly S.
Way too crowded. Why even have tables? It takes forever to get a drink, get to the bathroom or even go outside for some fresh air. I've given this place several tries and have never had a good experience

If you're in the mood for Cajun, Howie's is the only place in town. Crawfish Etouffee kind of says it all. But there's more, much more. And it's all good.

Possibly one of the best eateries in Medford! Fantastic selection of cajun food, including great seafood options. Behind the friendly rock'n'roll/sports bar surface is some very reasonably priced, tasty food. People have revied this as a bar, but I've only been here early evening for dinner and also for lunch. Just ate one of the healthiest and tastiest meals I've eaten out in a while; Bulleit Bourbon Prawns ("sauted with garlic bourbon & citrus"). It was served with a steamed vegetable medly of yellow carrots, red pepper, brocolli & fresh green beans. I had it with a side of coleslaw - really freshly made and crunchy. Would have taken a picture, but I was too hungry. The options include heavier side like dirty rice, potato skins, but my choice made for a hugely flavorful gourmet low carb meal! The first dish I had here which brought me back was the "Crawfish Etouffee". A generous serving of crawfish tails in a buttery sauce, with rice mmmm!!!! Other cajun options include Jumbalaya, Seafood Creole Stew (clams, mussels, prawns, catchis in southen tomato stew), steamer clams (with peppers, corn, bacon, garlic & white wine broth), Cajun Seared Catfish (pan seared with caramalized onions), chicken sausage gumbo, crawfish chowder. They also have a creative burger selection, with grilled chicken substitute option(veggie burger too), and some great looking salads, and plenty for people who like stuff fried, "shrimp & chips", homemade onion rings. calamari.... They have free wi-fi, and I felt comfortable to eat alone then hang out and play on my laptop after dinner. No pressure no stress. Great place! Could stand alone as a restaurant.

Cool place and good pool tables and decent food as well. Anytime im in town i always hit it up for some Oregonian beers and friends
(4)Frank K.
5 Stars for the best fish and chips in Southern Oregon and super friendly cuties behind the bar.
(5)Chloe L.
I love the decor here; the brick walls are papered with old records and concert posters. The beer is good, and I like that they have a cigarette machine in the back, if that's your thing. The patio is small but at least they have one. My only complaint is the bartenders. While I've had some pretty nice ones, the rude ones unfortunately stick out in my mind. I came there with a few friends of mine and sat at the bar for close to 10 minutes while they chatted in the corner and then served drinks and chatted up some customers at the other end of the bar. When one of them finally came over to get our order and we mentioned we'd been there a while, she rolled her eyes and offered no apology. I'll still go back since I like the atmosphere, but I have no great expectations about the customer service.

I love me some Howiee's. This place has all the things you need for a great night. Tasty beer, great staff, delicious food.... seriously the food is amazing. Not just grease and salt to get the drinks poured faster.
(4)S D.
Great spot! Friendly service, good food. Video poker. Stopped in on a whim. It was hard to leave. Could be a regular spot for me if I lived around here.
(4)Ahmed B.
Love me some Howiee's!!! By far one of my favorite places. Great food and awesome people!

This is a great place to start/end your night, or just hang out and have a few beers and shoot some pool. I've had really good experiences with the bartenders, and the drinks aren't ridiculously priced. Good beers on tap. The french fries and ranch dip definitely hit the spot when you just need drunk munchies lol. The patio is a decent size, and they have heaters out there when it gets cold. The only bad experience I ever had wasn't really a "bad" experience, just annoying; there was a hissy fit between two dumb chicks, and it just kept escalating because the "bouncer" was standing there with a smile on his face, clearly enjoying the show. We finally had to be like, "Dude, really? Can you handle these broads before we do?" That's pretty lame, but I've been back a few times since and haven't seen that guy again, so I'm willing to overlook that one small annoyance :) It's still a solid spot, and one of the better bars in Medford.
(4)Jordan A.
The best place to start or finish a night out on the town. Clean, good food, large beer selection, and the friendliest staff in town. Nightly drink specials.
