DISGUSTING! Quick? Yes. I have yet to leave this place without feeling like I violated my body. They serve the cheapest food, some of which I wouldn't feed my dog. So yourself, your family, and your quality of life a favor and stay as far away from this place as you can get.

Everywhere I wanted to eat was closed because it was New Years so we were hungry and we saw "buffet". BAD IDEA. I already knew what to expect when I stopped by here for dinner on our way home, but honestly this one is way better than the one in my area. However, they can improve the food so much better. Even my bf said the food looks like prison food and I couldn't agree more. After a plates or two I just decided to stick to my $10 salad. You pay for what you get. I won't come back again.

... are you kidding me? I'm embarassed to admit that I've even been in this place. The fact that they are still in operation (and appear to do a fair bit of business) is a sad testament to the state of food awareness in the United States. It's basically the worst cafeteria you've ever been to. The food is only marginally suitable to serve in prisons. Jamie Oliver, this place needs your help!

I have to agree with the other review. If you like lots of breading on your food, and a totally unhealthy glut of mediocre food, this is your place. I didn't think you could foul up a carving station.....but they did. The beef they were 'carving' (more like shaving -- wish I could get my knives that sharp!), was dreadful. Tough, full of fat & gristle. I was going to have seconds as they limited me to one razor thin slice, but after a taste of it, I skipped any idea of seconds. Way better than Wrigley's for a lasting chew! The dessert bar, was about as disappointing as looking for sun in Seattle in January. The cheesecake "looked" good, so I selected it. It was like eating cream colored foam. Want a great buffet? Go to Reno or Las Vegas. It is not here.

I finally went to Hometown Buffet tonight for the first time since their remodel. The place is nice inside but I can't say much for the food. The St. Louis Ribs were horrible! Boiled ribs with bbq sauce poured over them. They were soggy, bland and just plain horrible. Nothing like the ones shown on the commercial showing a nice rack of ribs with char marks. False advertising? They offered another pork that was cut in strips and had a sweet sauce on it. They were tough and fatty. Equally as bad as the St. Louis Ribs. I tried the chicken livers. They were cooked perfectly but were over spiced with cayenne pepper or other chili pepper. I just couldn't enjoy them. I did enjoy the fried chicken, roast beef, fried okra and salad. Their deserts are always bad but they have frozen yogurt and toppings. They no longer have the orange sorbet that was fabulous. They put a lot of money into remodeling but they still have the same food. I have heard people refer to them as the Barftown Buffet or the Jogtown Buffet. I don't think that will change. I was hoping for better.

Food had shrunk it was so dried out. Steak was raw. Then some child vometted all over the floor by the buffet. The waitress appologized and told me "That happens here all the time." ugh!!

I've been a fan of the Medford, Oregon HTB for many years, it's very clean and well kept, the staff and management are great. Coupon holders get an unbeatable deal. But the food is going downhill fast because of bad choices at corporate, and I'm afraid this is the only way they'll listen. While the soups, salads and desserts hold steady, the pre-made stew/steak offerings are a joke, the teriyaki chicken and nacho cheese sauce are utter poison, and a lot of the familiar choices are getting boooooring. The "pizza" is melted cheese on raw dough! Most of the vegetable offerings are a mess even to look at (ask any vegetarian), and the rest is either straight-up carb or fried. This new CEO is uncreative, out-of-touch, and hurting the company badly. It's all about the food, dude. Would you eat here, Mr. Wedo? I think not. Make healthy staples delicious. Not fatty, inedible crap. Panda Express can do it -- you can, too. Your bad habits are getting worse. Nobody needs your sausage. Nobody needs your steamed cabbage. Maybe the kids want your fried food, but they're not paying for it. Keep your baked chicken, bring your steak back, add turkey and other simple chicken offerings while begging some French chefs for tips on how to prepare vegetables well done (not raw) with simple ingredients (hint: garlic). Some of your veggies have pig products in them. That is just dumb. There's bacon in the salad bar, if someone needs pork in their veggies that badly. Good luck ever getting those unadulterated, glorious-looking, steamed green beans in your Facebook photo! And would it be too much to ask that you figure out how to make real BBQ teriyaki chicken, like every American male does in his own backyard, before I get nauseous again at that vomitous pineapple-and-slime dish you call "teriyaki chicken"??? It's upsetting. I still eat there a lot. I put your potato broccoli into my chowder. I put your potato cheese on my nachos. Your mashed potatoes are still good, your baked chicken is good. There are edible ingredients here for a good meal. I don't know what's wrong with the fried chicken... it's weird (not in a good way), but still edible. But I'm not grabbing those single-serve dishes. Especially when you load them up with things I will never, ever want. And 3 tiny slices of steak? Why bother even serving it? If people are wasting that much, just make your servings smaller. Don't pile crap on top of it. I'll be watching with great anticipation to see if HTB corporate decides to WAKE UP, or leads the franchise into a downward spiral.

First thought: gross Second thought: unkept, unprofessional buffet display Third thought: poor food selection Sodium and cholesterol heavy dishes Fourth thought: understaffed Fifth thought: edible Pros: good coffee, decent cheesecake Overall: only go back if starving.

Mr. Foo (the general manager) has really made this place shine recently. We always stop here on our way to Coos Bay or Portland from the Reno area. The Fred Meyer parking lot is ideal for larger vehicles, and while the exit to get here is goofy, the food is excellent.

It's about what you would expect. Swarms of people around tubs of food. When it's not busy it's not to bad. When it's busy it gets a little crazy! The food has always been pretty good, and I've never gotten sick which is a huge plus in my book!

Well Hometown Buffet in Medford, OR just saved us the trouble of driving 100 miles to eat there! They have not only ruined the menu, but what's left on it isn't worth the price of a gallon of gas, let alone $11.99. Thank goodness we had a buy one get one free coupon, but it wasn't even worth that. They no longer have steak or bbq wings. The manager said try the steak tips! I don't know what they did with the rest of the steak, but the tips were the tips of the fat and grissel. The fish and meatloaf were apparently made from the same cardboard box. The potatoes under the pulled pork, which by the way was mostly fat, we're reminiscent of the old wooden nickels. They got rid of the bbq wings and just called them legs. The baked potatoes were left over from yesterday, at least. The salads they have left don't seem to have suffered as much, although I didn't see the seafood salad. I've never seen the Place so empty. I am not sure which was runnier, the mashed potatoes or the cream gravy Desserts don't look like they fared much better hopefully they didn' screw up the ice cream too. The one bright light out of this whole sorry episode was our server, Ashley! Thank you Ashley, I'm just sorry we won't be seeing you again.

After reading the reviews for this place, I was a little reluctant to go. My experience there, however, was a good one. Sure, it's not a 5 star restaurant. Obviously. It's a buffet. And it's a buffet that charges less than $10 a person for the food it provides. As far as inexpensive buffets go, this place gets 5 stars. But since I'm comparing it to my other dining experiences around Medford, I'll give it 3 stars for food, +1 for our server, Jan. She really brought up our dining experience there by being friendly, attentive, and quick. Go here for: comfort food, carb fix, unlimited salad bar with tasty options.

Came at dinner time for corned beef and cabbage on St Patty's Day...it was already gone and they had no other. The food was super dried out and flavorless! The cost is ridiculous! $14 senior price w/drink. A rip off....stay away!!

My husband and I like to go for Breakfast or Lunch. We are both seniors and use the coupons that come in the mail. We went to breakfast there about a year ago and said never again, but we went just recently, and breakfast was terrific. The bacon was fresh and hot, the eggs were cooked perfectly. I went for the poached eggs. And the pancakes were surprisingly good. So many choices for breakfast. You can have an omelette custom made. And even dessert if you are so inclined. Lunch is perfect for us because we are both big salad eaters. And you cannot find a better (or more affordable) salad bar in Medford. Then there's the soups - 3 choices. And there is a taco bar. They have started changing up the dinner menu. But who wants to eat the same thing every time they go? They have some interesting new items and there is always something creative. Some of the food is disappointing (to us) - but we have been eating there for so long, we know what we don't like. And, bottom line, it's a matter of taste.

This place is really family friendly. The food is great. The selection is nice. It's like home cooked food. The price to eat isn't expensive for a all you can eat. The staff is great too. My son's favorite is the Mac n Cheese and soft serve ice cream with all the toppings. We will stop by the next time we are in Medford.

The fried chicken and rolls were good, not wonderful. I like eating at these places because of the variety. Salad bar had lots of fresh stuff, too, though the Ranch dressing seemed rather thin, i had a sweet tooth too, but stayed away from desert bar. Some of that looked good though.

This place is an excellent place to try new things. I had an idea for steak sauce cheesecake covered pizza. I took one bite and it was disgusting. I threw up in my mouth immediately after. I also enjoyed the mashed potatoes. They have good stuff for people who enjoy mediocre carb related fare.

It's had its ups and downs in food quality--now it is in between. We went on a Thursday evening (Kids Eat for 99¢--a very good deal). This place has a large selection of foods, from healthy to not healthy. I had seamed fish (ok), roasted chicken (ok), chicken dumplings (ok), corn and green beans w/ onion (good), rice (ok) and peach cobbler (ok). If you are in a hurry and/or want a large quantity of food this Hometown Buffet is a good choice. It seems to be particularly popular with people who should not be going to a buffet restaurant.

Why a buffet is a kids favorite place, I'll never know. I even remember being excited myself when I was kid when a buffet of any kind was suggested. Now that I'm and adult with a kid of my own, I can only imagine the shear terror that ran through my parents hearts when my brother and I rallied for such place. I don't need to imagine that terror--I felt it today. My kid loved it, of course, but the fact that my husband and I immediately took a nap when we got home should tell you something. It was NOT one of those "oh god that food was so good I ate too much let's sleep it off" kind of naps. Oh, no. It was a "oh. god. I feel so sick right now I'd rather sleep it off and have terrible nightmares rather than feel this feeling any longer" nap. And we only ate a select few items! The next time someone in the back seats yells, "Home Town Buffet!!!!" in response to the question, "Where do you guys want to eat?", throw them out of the car!!!

I might be easy to please, this is a fun place to eat all the high carb foods I rarely prepare at home. Old fashioned comfort food, and some new favorites too. As much as you want at a reasonable price. Gourmet? Nope. Yummy? Yep.

Driving through Medford to go home from Vancouver and came across home town buffet so we decided to eat here and rest for the night.. little did I know it was kids eat free night!!! Ahhh!!! The restaurant was dirty. I'm not talking about the dirty kids spilling food.. I'm talking about the spoons and cups being dirty. I had to cherry pick my fork and pick through 15 cups to find one that is not nasty so I can get a soda. Then after eating I went to my hotel and had a tummy ache :( You can guess what happens next ,, lol

Food was disgusting. Everything just tasted of salt. Hometown Buffet's policy must be if the food has no taste, salt the crap out of it. My family of four ate for $20. Cheaper than McDonald's and the food showed it. The coup de grace was the utterly disgusting bathroom. Every toilet was smeared with excrement. Had to go to Fred Meyer's to use a rest room.

I know it's a buffet, and a chain buffet at that. But with the options available to eat at around Medford, this ranks as decent enough to give 4 stars to! At minimum I know it's consistent, and what to expect! I have plenty of choices and that is good!

I absolutely LOVE how they remodeled it.. I think it looks so fun & cute! It looks really nice! This home town buffet is 100X time's better then the two we have here where i live! Which is Lancaster and Palmdale California. Seriously 100 X's better by FAR!! You guys are so lucky! The food is SO GOOD!!! This place is PERFECT for FAMILIES!!!! I saw families all over the place! Perfect for kids! This place is HUGE!!!! =)

Best Buffet Ever!!!!! My husband loves this place! 10% Military discount and 2 people eat with drinks for $22! Such a large variety of food to choose from and tgere's something new every time we visit to try! :D

Since their remodel, I will not come back. Before, the salad bar was at least passable, so I could make up a decent salad while the rest of the family goes hog wild on the fat, sugar and salt. But now, the mesclun mix is a a tiny bin, it's always empty, and most of the fresh veggies have been crowded out by more greasy fixins. I mentioned the empty salad bin to the manager, and he barely acknowledged my presence. The salad was never refilled, needless to say. The "ethnic" selections are an insult and a joke. Only come here if you want a lot of fattening, greasy food for cheap. Otherwise, steer clear.

It exceeded my expectations. It wasn't hideous. The staff - everyone of them - were very very nice and helpful. The food I had was decent enough. I am comfortable with a 3-star for this place.

EASTER SUNDAY. The servers here work really hard to make this a great store. I like Hometown, and eat at many of them, so this one is special. I'll be back!

Food was REALLY good. Better than normal it seemed like today. Bread pudding was AMAZING! That being said, dishes were bussed slowly, and there was no TP in the bathroom. The food was easily 4 stars, but the overall experience I can only give 3.

Today was a better day then my 1 Star review last time. The dinning room was quiet and had little traffic. The was good for buffet and the food team was on point. Many food selections all fresh and hot. Service at our table was good, but we did not see any managers out greeting. Thank you for the military discount and for honoring veterans.

Bleh, fairly large selection of food but I didn't really like any of it. Always seems busy but I'm not sure why, went here once and I don't think we'll be going back... There's plenty of places in Medford and in the valley that are cheaper and better. Take the family somewhere else folks.

I used to love eating here with my wife but no longer. I'd rather eat at a high school cafeteria. Sad because a few years ago it was one of my favorite places in Medford to dine but "all you can eat" doesn't mean much if you don't like what they are serving. And then the drinks are extra when they should be included with the meal. The long time manager was not there yesterday. Congratulating him on how he ran the place meant more to me than eating there and I didn't even get that satisfaction. No more for me.

  • Madison M.

"Dinner" starts at 3:30pm everyday and costs $11.95 per person over 12 years old (drinks cost extra). -They do NOT have a grill like they have at OTHER HTB's. -Lots of fillers such as rice, potatoes (4 kinds actually) and of course mac n' cheese. -Lots of fried foods. -Slim pickin's on fresh veggies -The salad bar is sub-par (don't even bother) I find it odd that they think they can charge Bay Area prices without the selection *sadness* For the same price, our family went to the Road House Restaurant down the street...

    (1)
  • S C.

Got there around 8 pm so was worried about the short time to eat. Friendly servers and food was still coming out. Salad bar is very good and everything else was ok. High price unfortunately since they include the price of a drink with your meal.

Friday night dinner...Food not so great. ..poor quality and poor selection. Manager who greeted us? Worst customer service EVER! No eye contact, barely acknowledged us, just told us how much we owed and took our money. The only reason I give this visit 2 stars is because our waitress was spectacular! Probably will not make a return visit.

The prices are perfect. Very family friendly. The seating was good. The restaurant was clean. The menu choices were abundant. The food choices perfect. The steak wad perfectly cooked. The ham perfectly cooked. Their clam chowder is to die for. The salad bar was large and the vegetables fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The 5 stars are not for the food at all! They are for a lovely young lady named Alex who was taking care of our section last night. She had a smile and was welcoming and attentive. She also kept a smile when there were some not so nice comments being made about her. She has a goal and a dream and I for one hope that she makes it! She made our whole family happy with her smiles and nice comments. Mr. Foo, Alex is the crown jewel in your establishment. The food was mediocre at best so as I said, the stars are for Alex not the food!
