They still have the same amazing bread that they always had. They'll continue their business because of that. But they now have a face lift and a relocate. A 'made and served here' bakery/pastry/cafe in Medford? No, a place like that doesn't exist. Congratulations Great Harvest, you've brought to Medford what's been a staple in Eugene and Portland for 10 years. Great Harvest Bread Cafe is a wonderful, open, warm place. It has good, happy energy. The foodstuffs are delectable as always and the coffee served is from the increasingly popular and well made, Noble Coffee in Ashland. Free wi-fi and free smiles, you should move your casual business meetings from Starbucks to Great Harvest. Personally, I've been waiting years for a place like this to open up in Medford. A place to go to read and drink coffee and enjoy a marionberry scone. The nice outdoor seating doesn't share space with an awful busy parking lot like every other coffee shop in town. Dear Cee A. Please redefine your star rating system. Everything you mentioned was positive except for the fact that 'older people may go there' and that they don't have bagels (or didn't when you reviewed anyway). Deserve more than a "3."

We have been living in Medford for about a year now, and this place has been on our list to try. We did not realize that they sell sandwiches in addition to loaves of bread. We went there for lunch today and it was pretty good. I had a turkey, avacado on whole wheat sourdough bread. My other half had roast beef on a Rye bread. They claim to have a gluten free variety but there is no guarantee that it is entirely gluten free as there is a chance for cross contamination. I am gluten sensitive. We would probably return.

Readers, I will be honest. I have only been to GH on Fridays for their almond-poppy seed scones. But, you must also know that I come to GH EVERY Friday for their almond-poppy seed scones, so I don't feel I need to try anything else to give this place 5 stars. Because of the SCONES, you guys. The scones.

I used to work here, and I loved it. Only reason I left was that I needed more hours. Let me tell you, the service and quality is top-notch, coming from a first-hand experience. Everyone puts so much hard work into everything at the bakery, from the bread, to the sandwiches, to the sweets and coffee. I'm not here anymore, but I still try to get the word out about this place, and send people from my hotel there for lunch whenever I can. It's a real gem in Medford :)

The owner's are so nice and gracious. They invest in their community and are very supportive. It's a great place for a lunch meeting or breakfast date. The coffee is good, the bread is obviously amazing and I'm a fan of the salted caramel cookies!

We visit Great Harvest often and like their products. Their coffee is super. My husband loves their breads. We have had to leave a couple of times on Saturday mornings because they have played the radio music so loud. One morning we asked them to turn it down. You cannot assume that all your customers are going to enjoy the same type of music since there are all kinds of people there. Music is best played in the background in public places.

While it's a chain, but quite good and friendly.

This chain bakery moved to a new building a short ways from their old site on the corner of Genessee & Jackson. The bread is the traditional American moist style that is produced by most large bakeries and what most people prefer since they grew up eating it. The flavor is better than average though. The larger quarters have enabled the shop to have indoor and outdoor seating and feature coffee and sandwiches. The coffee is locally roasted and good; the sandwiches are tasty and inexpensive considering that some of the breads are expensive. I like the cookies and other dessert items because they are not covered in sugar.

Well. They sure went and upgraded the place. They moved from their corner location on Genessee & Jackson, and moved toward the middle of the block on Genessee. In the process, they moved into a much, much bigger location than where they were previously. You can now see easily into their bakery operation, as the new building is nice and open. They also now have a café, and they serve Noble coffee in addition to their various breadstuffs. Free wi-fi, too. Keep in mind though that in spite of the new digs, they still cater to a primarily older clientele. So coffee and wi-fi notwithstanding, this isn't a hipster joint or anything. Regardless, the bread is good, and you won't be disappointed. Just wish they'd incorporate bagels into the mix. Then they'd be next-level, you know?

Their bread is the best, kids love cinnamon chip, cranberry pear walnut is yummy too!

This was my first time at this chain and I went for a sandwich, not bread. The sandwich was nothing special, just a regular, forgettable sandwich. They had no soup or sides, only chips. I got it on honey wheat bread and again, it was pretty generic. Going here simply confirmed what I already suspected: Deli Down makes the best sandwich in the valley, plus a variety of pasta sides or soups, for a cheaper price. Go there instead for a delicious lunch. I realize Great Harvest's specialty is baked goods/bread, so this review is only for their sandwiches. I'm sure their baked goods are probably pretty tasty.

This place was recommended for its great sandwiches, so my husband and I decided to try it. Stopped by on my way home from work this past Tuesday to grab us a couple of sandwiches for a light early dinner before a meeting. Walked in at about ten minutes to 4:00, but by the time it was my turn at he counter it was 5 minutes to 4:00. I asked about getting 2 sandwiches and was told "I could make you 1, but we stop making them at 4, so that is all I can make." when I explained I didn't know they stopped at 4:00, the young girl told me "Well it is just a lunch thing. We are open until 5:30, but only make sandwiches until 4:00.". Frankly, I was very surprised that upon hearing I needed only 2 sandwiches, and that I was a new customer, she still only offered to make 1!! I ended up leaving and getting sandwiches somewhere else. It appears they only serve coffee a a small, picked over, selection of baked goods (and of course loaves of bread) from 4:00 to 5:30. Unfortunately this turned us off to trying Great Harvest and we will steer clear in the future. Lesson learned: don't attempt to try a new restaurant without a VERY thorough read of their service hours!

YUMMMMM. The breads are great. When you walk in you are greeted and offered a sample. A shop in Phoenix that I went to did the same however it was a help yourself (hope no one had a cold) and very small pieces. These are not only very large samples of a slice of bread but they give you choices of samples. Then they give you butter and I think there was honey. Their specialty appears to be baked goods and bread. I tried one soup and it was pretty good but wouldn't necessarily order again, but I come for the bread. Great place and love the setting as well.

I've been there twice now, and as a fan of GH from California, I know the breads can be awesome. Their Cobb sandwich is delicious especially on a seedy bread like the Dakota. Very friendly service, could give you another 1/2 pickle when two people are sharing a sandwich but overall really good. Generous samples on different breads as well. I tried a whole wheat sourdough which was yummy. Nice light, airy space too. Considering the mediocrity of the food scene in Medford, it's nice to know that there is a decent sandwich place.

Went in the afternoon. Sandwich and soup. The soup was good and the sandwich was great. As a bakery it was very good and welcoming. Staff was friendly.

Delicious breads, goodies, power bars in a casual atmosphere. Friendly, helpful staff. Also one of the few places where you can get loose teas. My wife enjoys the Noble Coffee. The sandwiches I have tried are quite tasty and you get a choice of their wonderful breads. Even though Lexy feels led to be negative or some complain about wanting two pickles, I suggest you give Great Harvest a try. See you there. One of my favorite places to visit on my time off.

Awesome baked goods/bread~and, I mean awesome! This bakery makes good, wholesome goods right on the premises. And, the people who work there are so nice! Try their sandwiches~fresh, tasty and big. They always offer free slices of their breads. So, go and enjoy!
