Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

The food is delicious and plentiful. We have enough for another meal. We had some delicious drinks that set the meal off perfectly. The wait staff was attentive and friendly.

This is the first restaurant we tried in this town and we were excited, as we saw good reviews. I was apprehensive, when the waitress took us to our table there were 5 other tables with menus in their hands. We waited over 5 minutes and didn't even get any water. The other tables had not had their orders taken so we ended up leaving. Very disappointing

What a surprising gem in Madras. Menu options galore. Classy ambiance. My second time eating here. Will return next visit in area.

Great option for Madras. The seafood cannelloni was delicious, the house Cab was nice, and the service was good. We came for a music event and the staff was very efficient on finding seats for everyone. I find the prices a bit high for the area, but again, it is nice to have a higher end option here.

The staff seemed very friendly and working hard. The Tiramisu was dry and possibly old, we tried to leave a tip and we were told not to because it went to the house. I pushed it towards her, she pushed it back and said "seriously". Any owner who keeps their employees' tips is someone I would never support. Unbelievable. Contacted by the owner, the turmisu is dry if served to early, I guess I was given one that wasn't ready. Togo tips are for packaging cost and "a portion goes to the humane society". They seemed to feel justified. I have been working in restaurants for 18 years and find this appalling, I don't care what excuse you give me, or what cause your fighting. You should never keep a tip as an owner.... Let alone serve food before it's ready.

Great food and great service! I wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often. Very reasonably priced also. I had a calzone and my wife had chicken parmigiana. My daughters had fettuccine Alfredo and spaghetti. Everything was cooked perfectly and served faster than we expected. The server was very attentive and our glasses never went empty. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Came here with 12+ people on a busy Friday night. Waitress was professional, food came quickly, and the portions were large and tasty. Couldn't ask for more. And there was a free drink at the table after all the plates were cleared. Yowzah!

Have eaten here many times over the last several years. That being said it has never been much more than mediocre food, god enough but no stand out product. Tonights meal was baked ziti. I have had it before and it was good . But tonight I got pasta so soft and mushy I thought it might have come from a can. the salads came with reheated garlic bread, hot but dry dry dry. Not happy Not recomeneded

the food is good but over priced for a small town restaurant. wait staff is friendly. I had shrimp shells in my pasta which was not cool.
(3)Deawn H.
First off I thought the meal was over all very good though a little pricey. A nice find while passing through on vacation. The service was ok but the waiter did forget out garlic bread, we had to remind him to bring it near the end of the meal also while ok I have never before had chopped tomatoes on a shrimp Cesar salad and way too much dressing. The veggie delight pasta dish was very good as was the manicotti. I would eat there again.

Amazing!!! Never would've expected madras to have this quality of a dining experience. Excellent creative appetizers, try the flautas!!

A hidden gem in Central Oregon. Nice choices on the menu. I had one of the tastiest ribeye steaks I have ever eaten. My wife had a fish which she enjoyed. The salad could have used a few less onions but was good once I removed some of the onions. The service was good and our waitress was very pleasant. We even ordered tiramisu which was great. Best of all the prices are very reasonable. Very busy on a Friday evening.
(5)Leean P.
The service was mediocre. The calzone and cheese ravioli was good, but we could tell it was not fresh. It also was very bland. None of it tasted like authentic Italian food. The shrimp Caesar salad was very bland and not very good. The tuscan soup was Extremely sweet tasting, and it Just did not seem to fit in with the rest of the meal. Don't get us wrong, it was an alright experience, but not very good.
(2)Charles A.
To sum it up in - few words - poor service and mediocre food. Only one guy tending the bar, seating patrons, taking the order, bringing out orders. We have tried it twice. Both times the food was mediocre, service poor. We will not be back.

Stellar service!! What a cute, charming little Italian restaurant. Went in this past Sunday night, only two other tables occupied. The waiter was attentive without hovering, was friendly without being schmoozy and seemed to genuinely give a damn. How refreshing! Food was tasty and exactly as ordered. ...there's something magical about their garlic bread, i can't quite put my finger on it. Don't often order dessert after dinner (shockingly) but this time we figured, hey we're on vacation let's go nuts! Ordered their Chocolate Decadence- a brownie with Oreo crust topped with whipped cream and drizzled with raspberry sauce. It comes out warm, oozing chocolate and oh my word HUGE... seriously, we tried to split it between the two of us and couldn't finish it. It was so good though. If ever in Madras again, will definitely return to Geno's. Great job guys!
(4)Kyle K.
Geno's is a great place to eat in Central Oregon. The food is prepared and presented nicely. I personally love the burgers. The beef is definitely top quality. Of course, the calzones and pizzas are amazing too! The service is as equally impressive as the food. If you're rolling through Madras, or planning a trip to Central Oregon, Geno's is the place to eat! They have a great location in the Harriman Building on 4th St. (Highway 97).
(5)Martin B.
Our hotel (Inn At Cross Keys Station) recommended this restaurant. We took our 16 year old daughter and her friend out for dinner. Prices what you'd expect. Food was good and hit the spot. Service was good as well. Would go back again. Nice comfortable restaurant with good food, comfortable warm setting and good service. Pleasant surprise as we didn't know what to expect in Madras. Would go back again.

What a spectacular place!! We eat out on a pretty regular basis and enjoy trying new things every chance we get. And this place is one of those once in a lifetime rare gems that you stumble upon. We were simply passing through and ended up stuck in Madras overnight due to bad weather. Our Hostess at our hotel (The Inn at Cross Key Station) suggested we give Geno's a try and that if we show the waitress our room key we'd get a discount. Good thing we did cuz it was a little pricy. Their only flaw by the way. We arrived very close to closing time but we were welcomed in like part of a family....served our drinks right away! And let me tell you...Geno can not be accused of a short pour!! The staff was so friendly and welcoming we felt like guests in someones home not a restaurant. Heather our waitress was very sweet and more than helpful with assisting us to choose our meals. Everything came out in a very timely manner, fresh and delicious! It was hands down! The flavors were perfect, cooked to perfection! We had the New York Gorgonzola, it was fork tender, juicy everything on the plate was perfect! We also had the Chicken Giovanni Pasta, at this point I've just died and gone to heaven. The chicken was tender and juicy too. Everything was just loaded with tons of flavor! Best restaurant experience EVER!!! These wonderful folks know how to make great food fun. Geno and his wife made our unexpected stay in Madras even better. We will be back! I travel through here often, so we have decided to make this a regular stop from now on. Thank you to all the staff at Genos! Miss you already! Lol

I was passing through Madras on a business trip. Searched local restaurants on my phone and walked into Geno's. What a great find! The service was excellent as I spend 2.5 hours there. I tried a couple things off the happy hour menu (3-6, 9-close) and also an appetizer. All were very good, especially the Gnocchi . The atmosphere was very relaxing with soft music and flickering lights. A great place to sip a glass of wine and relax. Thanks Geno's! I'll be back again. Gregg the driver.

This is an amazing Italian restaurant worth going out of your way for!

I made a reservation for dinner, but when we arrived, waited standing line with everyone else and take in order of arrival. My husband ordered a steak, he liked the olive a tomato topping, but it was not cooked as ordered. Kids enjoyed their dishes. Not too bad overall, but service was a little lacking.
(3)Bridget R.
What a nice little find in Madras! This is actually a classy joint! I was with a large party (we had called ahead), and the service was excellent. The waitress put up with people ordering at different times, with odd requests, and all kinds of dumb questions. She was a gem, let me tell you! I ordered the NY steak, rare, with Gorgonzola cheese sauce. My steak came out rare. Thank you Geno's who knows what a rare steak is! The garlic bread was mediocre- the bread itself was good, but too heavy, and sliced too thick for the small amount of garlic butter. The salad was decent, but the portion of dressing, (served on the side) was puny. I only finished half of my salad, as there was not enough dressing. That's a small complaint, as I am sure that if the place was not packed with our party, I would have been able to easily ask for more. I had a glass of the house Chianti, which was perfectly passable. This is a nice Italian restaurant, in a place where you wouldn't expect it.

When Geno's was in their old building I only ate pizza and calzones to go. Last night was our first time eating in their new building. The building was great, the food was not! I ordered antipasto salad. Basically it was a bit of iceberg lettuce with a few pizza toppings on it. The Italian dressing was good. I paid about $8 for it. My husband order chicken fettuccine. He got a dinner salad, again a little iceberg lettuce with 1 slice of cucumber, 1 slice tomato and 1 slice of onion. The sauce on the main dish was pasty and the chicken was dry and hard to chew. There wasn't even a garnish on the plate, just a small pile of his fettuccine. It didn't even look appetizing. I believe he paid about $15.00 for it. My son was smart and ordered a calzone. Paid about 7 bucks and was worth every bite. My suggestion- leave the Italian dishes alone and go with calzones.
