Hanayori Japanese Restaurant Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The family and I all came to Hanayori tonight and were excited to eat at one of the only Japanese restaurants in town! They have a few things to iron out it seems, however for being a place that serves sushi in Klamath Falls, I think they did pretty well! The atmosphere is no-frills but inviting, and its a no-nonsense set up with plenty of room for their tables. When we got there, we weren't sure whether to just seat ourselves or go to the counter, so we just sat down and then the waitress came over. There was one waitress there for the whole restaurant tonight, and at first it seemed adequate, however as it got busier it seemed they needed more help. We didn't get refills on drinks unless we asked, and although the service was acceptable, it definitely could have been better. My husband and parents all got the Hanayori Special, which they all really liked, and I tried some of their California Rolls and tempura and it was all very good. I got the Duex Roll and the Hawaiian Roll. The Hawaiian roll was very good, and I actually liked it the best, however it did tend to fall apart (a minor annoyance). I thought I would like the Duex roll the best, however the tuna on top of the roll had a rather mushy consistency to it...it was not fishy tasting, it tasted fine, however the texture hinted at it not being at the peak of freshness, and was perhaps previously frozen. It reminded me of the sushi you get at Safeway....which is acceptable, however I expect a little more from a sit-down restaurant. So on the whole, definitely A-OK but not stellar. Another side note: they actually forgot one of the Hanayori Specials. All of our food came out except one of the specials, and the waitress informed us the cook read the ticket wrong and still had to make it. Well, that was kind of awkward...it really didn't take long for the last special to come out, it was pretty quick, however something like that shouldn't really happen in the first place... That being said, we will most likely be back, it is really good to see a Japanese restaurant in Klamath, and I would definitely like to try their other rolls, and their katsu as well. It was really great to take my parents here, as they haven't had many opportunities to try this kind of food, and they thoroughly enjoyed it, and that made me really happy :-)

Went not expecting much, yet was pleasantly surprised with how great the sushi was. Will be making this a regular spot.

I have never had a bad meal here and their miso soup is consistently good. While I wish that they had more vegetarian options, they have some great sushi. (Their veggie tempura is not my thing.) One thing to note though... Make sure you have plenty of time when you eat here! Their service is friendly, but always slow!

In a rather provincial city where all things cultural go to die, you'll find a neat little Japanese place downtown where the service is painfully slow, but the food is delicious. I've been a few times now, and that equation has stayed consistent. The sushi is good, the teriyaki chicken is tasty, and the tempura veggies are excellent. They have oddball hours, so be sure to check first before heading there.

I really enjoyed eating here. The decor is very simple but very welcoming and i would definitely go back. I ordered the Teriyaki beef and it came with a side of white rice and salad. The flavor of the beef was excellent! I also enjoyed the flavor of the salad dressing. They will not give you a fork if you don't ask for one. But, i enjoyed being able to practice my chop stick skills. Also, when we went, there was only one waiter and spent his time inside the kitchen.. so to get his attention we had to wait for him to come out and take an order. But i would prefer better food than service. Overall a good experience.

I was recently there after having not been back to Klamath in well over a year. The proprietor, who usually serves as the waiter, REMEMBERED MY USUAL ORDER. The food is wonderful, the setting comfortable and the prices reasonable. I highly recommend Hanayori.

Pros: Excellent food overall and the service was very polite and gracious. Restaurant is clean and ambiance is nice. Price is decent considering this fare is usually quite expensive. Cons: Wait time for food was excessive. Don't take your kids here: they'll go crazy waiting for the food. Summary: When I don't mind sitting around with friends having beer and chatting then this place is top choice. If I want to eat a dinner and get home to watch a movie then I'd avoid this place. They really need to have some help in back to speed things up.

Simply terrible. In every way. Noodles were soft and crunchy at the ends. Tofu tasted like it was fried in donut batter. Vegetable tempura in donut batter also. bad food.

I was really happy when I ate at this place for the first time. Straightforward traditional Japanese food at a decent price. Order ahead for dining in, as to avoid long waits. Friendly staff and simple setup. Legit.

Wow, still sitting in the restaurant as I text this. First off don't judge this place by the store front, or the lack of people in it. We came on a Thursday night to an empty restaurant , Leary, we only ordered 3 items. Holy cow!! We ordered more then more . I was a fan of Tobiko but this place has easily changed my mind. Items we ordered: tsunami, rock n roll, volcano rolls & pot stickers accompanied with GenMachi tea. I eat sushi all the time, everywhere i go and for Kfalls, they are fantastic. Everything was excellent and fresh... Can be related to a food orgasm in your mouth.

I think Hanayori just opened. At least I hope so... it was noon on a weekday and we were the only two people there. They have an extensive sushi menu, along with some traditional staples of Japanese restaurants. I had the Chicken Teriyaki, and it was pretty good. I hear that this place is busier on a weekend evening. I should hope so. Lunch was so quiet that I was a litte depressed!

The green tea is unlike any tea I've ever had, it's wonderful. The tuna rolls are delicious. I've always had great service. I keep coming back. Try this little place you will be amazed at the true fantastic quality of the food.

I go here once a month with my husband. Except we order take out because we have a young son and don't want to get a babysitter. BUT, although we have heard of a long wait because of one server and what not, they are delicious! Since they are located in Klamath Falls they aren't as good as locations in Portland or wherever a lot of tourists come from to visit, but that doesn't mean they are bad. We always have a set menu of the Krusty Crab Roll, Mexican Sunrise Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Miso Soup, Chicken Yakisoba and Pot stickers. Love love love. They always have everything so nice in the takeout containers. Delicious, still warm and look forward to eating here when the next month rolls around.

This place... I am so disappointed. While I understand Saturday nights can be busy, this was ridiculous. We were expecting to eat lunch here but on Saturdays, they're only open for dinner. Bummer. We had lunch somewhere else but we were equally excited to get some sushi in the evening. Fast forward to about 7:30pm. The place was full. We went up to the only wait staff there, a young woman. She look surprised and said "you want to eat here?".... Really? No lady we just wanted to come in and smell the sushi. Anyway, we said we'd like a table for 4 and we were told a 20 minute wait. That was fine, no big deal. We told her we were going to the billboards bar a block up for a beer and we'd be back. We had our beers, got back in 15 minutes and the lady gave our table to a couple who had walked in just before. After waiting another 10 minutes, she said if you're here for sushi, we ran out anyway. WHAT a waste of our time. We will not return. I'd rather drive to Bend for my usual sushi place.

I'm conflicted, the food is almost always good, but be prepared to wait a long time for it. Don't go if you have some place to be afterwards. And make sure that you eat with a good conversationalist. But the long wait can be a good thing if you like a nice low-key place to sit and chat. The Hanayori Special is always good. And I have yet to find better sushi made to order in town.

This is the best Japanese food in Klamath Falls. I love the tempura udon soup! The salmon roll is always fresh and so delicious. The staff is friendly and there is a nice relaxed atmosphere. Always stop in when we are in town.

I ordered the chicken katsu from this restaurant today and was pretty disappointed. The chicken was covered in a brown sugar style panko that made me want to get through it as quickly as possible. The sushi was good-- not anything to write home about, but edible. TL;DR I probably won't be going back

I LOVE sushi so I stopped here cause of the good reviews. Only 2 other tables seated when I arrived and took 25 minutes to get 2 rolls. Very subpar sushi. The rice was too sticky and the rolls were flavorless. Service wasn't very good. Perhaps the 5 star ratings come from folks with minimal sushi experience.

As sushi goes any where, this is a good meal; for Klamath Falls it is wonderful. Good food, nicely priced, wonderful service. The one weak point is the food comes a bit on the slow side. This is a small restaurant served by a small staff; that being said I would rather have good food get to me a bit slow, than poor food right away.

I love the food there but sometimes the wait is horrendous and we have even stood there for 20 min with out being acknowleged We now call ahead for take out

My original review still rings true, but I'll update it since we had a fantastic dinner here tonight. I took my kids, alone (my husband was out of town). I always get nervous about taking them out, wanting them to behave well, and Hanayori is often very busy, and very slow service. So we showed up right when they opened, at 5:00. Food came out pretty quickly. I love their green tea. It has toasty notes to it, and my nine year old liked it too. My five year old thought it was "smelly." :P Potstickers are a hit with my kids, and the ones at Hanayori are no exception. They were inhaled, and my son ordered a second batch. Fried tofu was outstanding. The dipping sauce was yummy. Cucumber salad is always a favorite too. I also ordered three kid friendly sushi rolls: Andrea roll, Veggie Tempura roll, and the Oregon roll. All were very tasty, as usual. The Oregon roll is made with Alaskan smoked salmon (wild), and is one of my favorites. Kids behaved excellently before, and during, dinner. Then it started to get busy. We sat for a good fifteen or twenty minutes just waiting for our check. Halfway through the wait time I dug out my card and waved down the waitress, and many times she sailed past, saying "just a minute." My kids were getting pretty squirrelly, which makes me get annoyed at their behavior, and at the restaurant for not allowing us to just leave! We finally got to pay and headed home. The bottom line is, it's kid friendly IF you go early. Maybe bring some activities too.

We pretty much suspected a Japanese restaurant in Klamath Falls would not be good and we were right. But I have to mention that there are only 2 Japanese restaurants in Klamath Falls and Hanayori is supposed to be the BEST Japanese restaurant in town. The other place is not authentic (when they serve "Fusion Japanese", they are usually Korean or Chinese). The other reviewers were right - it takes 1 hour to get your food. It is because there is only 1 cook and only 1 waitress working there! Surprisingly enough, the waitress was a real Japanese person and she was friendly. That's why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. I liked their Genmaicha too.

Average sushi restaurant. Service was slow because one waiter was in charge of the whole restaurant. The miso soup was pretty good. I really enjoyed the dressing that was on the salad! So here is the weird stuff...We ordered a roll that had jalapenos on it, instead the chef cut up green peppers and added them. The california roll had chopped onions mixed in with the crab. Also the spicy tuna was really spicy, but had a fishy taste...which led me to believe it was a little old. We love sushi...so we are probably hard critics...but this was so-so.

The food was good. But the service was SO SLOW. It got to the point when a group of four people walked in, the server went to them to tell them he couldn't serve them at the time. He even refused carry out to people calling. I guess the economy is so terrible in Klamath Falls that hiring someone to help isn't worth it. It took us 1.5 hours to get our food. We are trying desperately to not plug our kids into electronic devices to entertain them-- but after an hour, we just had to. Thankfully, when the food arrived, everyone in our family became prompt members of the Victory Plate Club. It was tasty, and prepared well. On another note, Klamath Falls seems very sketchy. We ate there on a Friday evening and noted several unsavory types looking in parked car windows. Remove valuables from sight!

The food is always good. The only problem I see is that it takes sometime to get it. If you have time to spare it's definitely worth it.

OK I'll grudgingly acquiesce that some of the reviewer's statements about the, um, unhurried service might be correct. Two of us went in for lunch. There was one other customer eating, and it took about 20 minutes for our appetizer to come out. That didn't bother me, but had things been busier, it's clear that the wait would have been much longer. I had the teriyaki chicken with rice and salad. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the salad dressing was great- I'm thinking it was a combo of rice vinegar, sugar and toasted sesame oil. Very nice. The chicken was a tad over-cooked, but by no means dry- just not as tender as it could have been. My husband ordered the Rainbow Roll, and he loved it. This was a refreshing little find in our new home of Klamath, and we will be back!

AVOID AT All costs. Went in the other night with a group of 6. They could not seat us because they would not move tables together. They told us we had to sit apart. We have 4 kids! Are you kidding me! The tables clearly could have been moved but the hostess said it was the "owners policy" because the tables were not that sturdy. Too bad really, we were looking forward to it. So we went to Thai Orchid spent $140.00 and had a great time. We live in Kfalls too. This place will an avoid at all costs now.

We started with the appetizer sampler and found the shrimp tempura to be some of the best we'd had anywhere. Everything else on the plate followed suit and we were excited for the main course. I got the hanayori special and my wife got a couple rolls of sushi. We were pretty blown away by the quality of all the food and the amount you get for the price. The space is a little dark, but I don't tend to care about atmosphere when the food is this good. We will definitely stop by this place again soon.

Now normally, I love this place. Though, this is now the second time I've gotten food poisoning from their take out. I told them I'd be about a half an hour and when I got there, my sushi was sitting out and warm. Eating in is always a pleasant experience but beware of their take out!

  • Cassidy W.

They are very slow, even with just sushi. The first time we went there it took 1.5 hours for 3 rolls of sushi and some miso soup. The second time we went there we decided to just pick up and it still took 45 minutes to get. And then all three of us got sick. I'm not sure because it was their last order of sushi so their shipment was bad but it sucked.

Much improved! Service can be spotty. Wait time may be long but order an appetizer and the wait flies by with good company.

Great Japanese food. Not a good place to go of you're in a rush; but the food is worth the wait. Very good with a cute atmosphere and nice service.

The service was painfully SLOW it took forever for our food to come out, it was lunch time and only 3 other guests in the restaurant, we were there over 90 minutes and I wasn't overly impressed with the food. The pot stickers were great and my kids enjoyed their food. The sushi was just alright, nothing special and comparing it Tobikos (the other sushi joint in Kfalls) they both are just ok, overpriced and nothing special. We also noticed a couple that called their order in a good 30 minutes prior and they still waited another 30 minutes in the restaurant. If the service wasn't so slow, it sure would help business!

Today I went here with my friend...I have been out of the loop and this was my first time. We had fried Tofu, which was excellent. We also had a cucumber salad and Vegetable Tempura rolls. All were very tasty and I will be going back soon. Highly recommend this place.

Another fantastic lunch! I got the teriyaki chicken with tempura veggies, best tempura I have ever had- light and fluffy. My husband for a sushi special and said it was great too. We are lucky or have such a great Japanese restaurant in town!

  • Amy S.

Great food. I tend to get the bulgogi but have eaten sushi and tempura here as well. My only complaint is that it takes a while. Now I would rather have someone be slow and prepare me a good meal than fast and low quality but it is worth mentioning. So be prepared to wait a while if they are busy. Also, they seem to be a bit stingy with rice, which makes no sense to me...it's rice! Load it up! Gimme some rice! Also the rice doesnt not always seem to be moist enough for me. Perhaps I always get the last of each batch haha. Over all I like eating here but the drawbacks are time and small portions of rice.

When I was attending OIT, this was our (boyfriend and I) favorite sushi place. Tried the other 2 sushi places in town, but this is the best one. People complain about the service, but you need to understand this is a mom and pop restaurant. It is run by a husband and wife team plus one waitress. I would recommend getting there at opening or ask the owner if they would open for a special lunch-in for a group on Saturdays. If I had a complaint, it would be two things, they don't have edamame or mochi ice cream. I have tried everything on their menu, the only thing I wouldn't reorder is the chicken yakisoba. I would recommend their Krusty Crab or Mexican Sunrise roll.

    (5)
  • Chantelle S.

Their sushi is so good! Every time we go we always want to order more to take home. I've never been disappointed! Prices are very decent for the quality and quantity. Make sure to skip out on the green tea ice cream, that's the only thing I wouldn't recommend.

    (5)
  • Stephen B.

The menu is fairly limited, but the food is pretty good. The sushi pieces tend to be a little small, but they make up by being pretty cheap. I have only been here for lunch, and have always enjoyed some variety of bento box., plus some sushi roll. I have never had a bad lunch here, and the prices are very affordable. It's on the far west end of main street, and it tends not to get too busy, which is nice, in my opinion.

Please ignore C.S. This "person" is clearly a person associated with Tobiko and is trying to dissuade people from eating at Hanayori. It is my favorite restaurant in Klamath Falls. The service can vary from very good to not so good, but the food is always fresh and hot or cold when it needs to be. I think I have tried all the rolls on the menu and all have been prepared to order. Love this place. Tobiko is pretentious and has definitely declined in quality, service and popularity over the last year or so. Please support Hanayori. It is a family owned place and unique to klamath falls.
