The service was good & so was the setting. I had the Halibut Au Gratin which was disappointing as it was mainly potatoes with very little halibut. The vegitables were not that great either.

We went th Delaney Madison Grill last Friday with high expectations based upon a recent review by the Statesman Journal food critic, "a Portland sytle restaurant in Keizer". Yes, the dining area has a cool view of the lake, but for a Friday evening there was no hint of vibe. That alone disqualifies them for comparison to any Portland restaurant. Then there was the food.......,an extremely salty seafood soup, the classic chicken came so over cooked it was "dried to the bone" (which says something since it was boneless). Both entrees came with luke warm mashed potatoes served on a luke warm plate. My wife's double cut lamb chop was luke warm, everything was cold in a matter of a few minutes. As for the wine list....3 lower tier Oregon pinot noirs, a huge disappointment. Bottom line, if you want a Portland like restaurant in the Salem area we suggest trying Table 508, the Kitchen, Bentley's, or simply drive to Portland.

Service and staff were excellent as was the food. Ate light tonight but definitely looking forward to visiting again. Would suggest adding more light menu items as we like to sample various things and have a couple beverages for a nice yet light meal.

We had a great dinning experience at this new Keizer establishment, group of four. While dinning we were wondering if there was going to be even a hint of some thing negative but that just didn't happen. Without going through the entire fare I would just say that this is a place that we would definitely go to again.

Stopped in last evening for appetizers and a glass of wine- they opened up on Wednesday and it was packed- nice to have a decent option in Keizer- had the mussel appetizer and it was enough to almost make a meal- we also tried the scallop appetizer and it was great- scallops were cooked perfectly and the sauce was perfectly paired. Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their meals- the wait staff was attentive and knowledgable about the menu. The wine list was very nice- not too much but good selections. We will be back soon-

I've been in the restaurant business for 20 years and have never had an experience like my boyfriend and I had at Delaney Madison Grill last night. I ordered the pot pie and didn't particularly care for it, but ate some and didn't complain because, again, it wasn't terrible, just not what I had expected. We paid our tab and as we were leaving the owner, Jim, approached me and said he noticed I didn't eat that much and asked what they could do to make it better. I explained how I felt about it, and since we had already paid, he gave me a gift card for $20 and said he hoped we would be back. Being in the restaurant business as long as I have, my expectations are a little higher than most, and, for the first time, my expectations were exceeded. Most places wouldn't notice, or care, if you didn't like for your meal, and Jim went out of his way to make sure we would come back. The service, drinks, and food were enough to make us come back, but the over the top customer service will have us coming back and telling everyone what an amazing place this is. Thank you so much Jim for the great customer service!!!!

We have been here twice and had a lovely experience both times. Food was delicious and prepared well. The amount of food was just right. The presentation was beautiful. The setting is gorgeous as well. Wait staff, even for our group of SEVENTEEN people the second time, were friendly and accommodating. Everyone pitched in to help us and the bartender kept us happy the whole time. I do not agree with people who say it is overpriced...? It seems about right for the type of menu offered and that beautiful setting. We will keep recommending it and keep coming back.

Have been here a couple times since their first month and really impressed. They have a wide range to choose from on the menu and cater to pretty much all tastes. My friends had the seafood, I had the short ribs. Very well made and seasoned just right. The ribs were fall off the bone and came out in a good presentation. Nice wine choices available, great dessert options and overall really enjoyed the atmosphere and service. It's nice that as soon as you enter some one is right there greeting you and getting you seated. The lake view is great, but I live right here, so I can't say I've been here for that. Really only con in my experience, too cold inside! Wearing costs and sweaters at our table - sort of detracts from the overall experience. Overall, 4.5 stars, why don't they let us do halves!?

Tonight was my husband and I first time at DMG. The Tiffany truffle fries are to die for! Then the homemade chicken pot pie tastes like home. I had the filet mignon which was amazing....the scallop potatoes are phenomenal. Couldn't pass up the Johns homemade apple pie......a taste of heaven. The staff and owner were all so gracious. We will be coming back!

Service was excellent but the food was just okay - nothing really impressed us. We had the risotto, the polenta and the brie appetizer but none of it was good enough to make us want to rush back.

Very, very good. I've now had 5 different dishes here, and they all were delicious. The staff is wonderful as well.

Kind staff, greasy breakfast with limited vegetable options for brunch. Overall the food was decent, I would expect garnish with my meal for $15, then I would have had some vegetables.

Keiser, OR: Very understated, casual elegance. Inside, white table cloths, dark chairs, lounge off the dining room. Full glass windows afforded a great view of the man made lake that the outside tables overlooked. The window shades were lowered to reduce the glare of rhe sun while we were awaiting our food. As the sun set, the room became darker as it was illuminated by just natural lighting. The wine selections were listed on the back of the dinner menu. FOOD *Special Copper River Salmon, with Polenta and Asparagus *DMG House Made Meatleaf (this was what arrived at the table but our guest had ordered DMG Lasagna) *Northwest Salmon, Prawns, and Crispy Polenta *A House baked crème brulee Drinks of Iced Tea, hot water, and coffee. Delicious fresh garlic herbed bread The coffee arrived lukewarm but was graciously replaced by a fresher cup of hot coffee. My hot water was served with a thoughtful wedge of lemon. The Iced Tea was refreshing. Both salmon meals were well prepared and delicious. The dining room was dimly lit by the setting sun so that by the time our food arrived, we did not notice that a meatloaf was served instead of the lasagna she wanted . Our guest didn't say anything and didn't want to send back her dish. After overhearing our comments about the lighting, staff turned on the room lights. That was when we noticed the meatloaf. Our guest did not like the spicey flavoring. We found out after leaving that the meatloaf contained jalapeño peppers, something our guest does not like. Hubby and I shared a crème brulee baked in house. The custard was smooth, creamy, and not too sweet, with a nice topping of glazed strawberries. However, the carmelized sugar topping was on the heavy side. Too thick, making the sugar coating hard instead of delicate and lightly crispy. We were here on Memorial Day. It was not very busy and our server was ultra-gracious. Loss of a star for below par coffee and another off for poor lighting. I can't really take off a star for the wrong item served when our guest was reticent to say something about it. Great potential. Three delicious, tiny, house made chocolate truffles were served with the bill. Free parking in lot. It was very windy when we were there so we did not explore the access to a walkway along the water from around the building near the lounge. Very pretty setting by the lake at sunset.

We are so glad we found this place! We were visiting from out of town and looking a for good place to go for dinner. We wanted delicious quality food that was reasonably priced and close to our hotel. That is what we found here. The ambiance is classic ,elegant, but relaxed as well. The service was top notch and the food was delicious! Seafood chowder was perfection and the the trout was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The only small complaint is that caesar salad was not tossed in dressing rather drizzled and there was not enough. Also I prefer the more crisp pieces of romaine rather the tops that are quite leafy and more soft. So the caesar salad gets 2.5 stars and everything else 4.5 stars! We will be back the next time we are here.

Three weeks ago, along with another couple, we decided to take advantage of Delaney's Monday night special of purchasing a pasta dish and getting another to take home. The ambience in this restaurant is so lovely I really wanted it to be one of our "go to" restaurants. Here's what happened to us. My bread plate had dried food on it so I handed to waitress and requested another, which she never brought. The waitress spilled water on my friend as she filled the water glass. My salad had an ant in it--albeit dead, still not appetizing. My friend ordered the salmon pasta and the salmon was overcooked, dry and tasteless. The spaghetti take home portions were very small and not very tasty. Despite all these problems, each couple left a tip. When my friends' Visa bill came, the amount on the bill was three dollars more than on their receipt so apparently the tip was increased. So I am ignoring the lovely atmosphere and the three dinners that probably rated at least three stars to give Delaneys just one star for all the problems we encountered. We won't go back.

This place is phenomenal. We went during happy hour, we had 2 drinks and 5 different happy hour apps and it was only 26$. Everything was amazing. Service was excellent, the view was excellent, the food was excellent. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. I would highly highly suggest visiting this hidden gem!

This is a new restaurant that replaces Caruso's in Keizer. Let's start with location which I think is great especially considering it's walking distance from my house and the fact that it's on the lake. Decor is nice with a fine dining look to it. Service was excellent and staff was attentive and friendly We dined here with our neighbor friends. I have to say I found the menu somewhat limited. There were mostly seafood options which I wasn't enthusiastic about. I had the meatloaf which I thought was excellent but the other items on our table were sort of average including the $40 filet mignon. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could but I want to err on the positive side because it's a new start up and the staff seems to be trying their best. Hopefully the menu will evolve and the quality will improve with time to justify another visit soon

Went to dinner for our anniversary and was reasonably disappointed. My wife's beet salad had no dressing on it. When asked for dressing we were brought a vinegar/balsamic mixture, which had no oil, herb or spice for flavor. My stuffed Cod was bland - again stuffing and the Cod had no flavor. Seemed they were depending on the lemon based (?) sauce to flavor the dish. Will we return? Not sure.

At first, the service seemed fine; however, things went downhill quickly. There were six of us. The other two couples enjoyed their meals. Four of six meals were served promptly. We waited at least 10 minutes, or longer, for the final two meals to be s served so we could begin eating. My husband ordered lamb chops, which tasted like they were marinated in vinegar. The asparagus was inedible and the mashed potatoes unremarkable. My scallops and risotto were flavorless and disappointing. My water glass was never refilled so I had to drink from my husband's water glass. We had cocktails and were charged for premium liquor, which we didn't order. Both my husband's and my salads had disgustingly old lettuce as well as fresher lettuce but every piece showed signs of brown aging. We've eaten at DMG before and were pleased with our meals. Our experience tonight was very disappointing.

I had a very nice meal here. I like it much better than the Italian restaurant that it use to be. They make great steaks, and the views are wonderful. Their wine list is a little low end, they need more Washington Cabs maybe a few petite sirahs. I really enjoyed their apple pie. I will be back.

  • Roger S.

the location of this restaurant next to a large lake is wonderful. the food I would consider rather pricey. $40 for a filet mignon is ridiculous, for that price it better be one amazing piece of meat and it really was just ok. they're going to price themselves out of the market.

Good: Portion sizes, atmosphere. Bad: Selection, what my wallet had when I left. The place was cool but I've seek some better places around.

For lunch the Portobello mushroom pesto sandwich was excellent with good fries and a fresh tossed garden salad that of all things needed more dressing. The meatloaf sandwich was very good except the the mashed potatoes were just barely warm. Service was very good. We tried dinner several weeks back and were well satisfied. We will be back.

Went to lunch here with my mom for her birthday on a Saturday afternoon. The place was practically deserted. The hostess was wonderful but our waitress was extremely slow and inattentive, especially since there was no one there. I ordered a BLTA sandwich that came with a side of fries and soup. The soup and fries were good but my sandwich was like dry toast with bacon. The menu boasts heirloom tomatoes but I got the half butt end of a mealy tomato. I ended up having to ask for more. I had been to this establishment before for lunch and had a better experience with the food but , there are way better options out there. Don't waste your money for the view.

I really wanted to give this place more stars, but after mulling it over, I think three stars is the right rating. First, the positives!! Our service was great. Our server was so nice and attentive and just an all around pleasant person who seemed willing to take the extra step to make people feel welcome. The view off of the back deck was beautiful. We are new to the area and hadn't even known this lake/pond was there! Birds...turtles...beautiful setting sun....It was very nice. I don't know a ton about wine, so I really appreciated that their wine list gave pairing suggestions that were specific to their menu. The food had its high points as well. The mashed potatoes were pretty good! Nice texture and flavor. And my SO said his green beans were cooked very well. And we both enjoyed the truffle fries a lot. I really enjoyed the sauce that came with my lamb chops. And the salad was dressed perfectly! A small touch, but one that I appreciate! Now for the not so great parts.... The salad needed a bit more attention during the prep as I ended up with a big chunk of frisee stem in it that I had to take out. I asked for my lamb to be medium rare. There was one piece that was medium. The others were edging into medium well. The chops were very small, so I can see how it would be difficult to manage their temperature, but I would suggest not asking for a preference then in that case. Otherwise, you set the customer up to expect something that can't be delivered on. My SO really didn't like the sauce that came with the chicken saltimbocca. He felt that it was too peppery and was overbearing on the dish to the point that he couldn't really taste anything else. Also, my food wasn't that warm when it came out and it cooled down really quickly. I thought it maybe just had to do with being out on the patio, but it wasn't *that* cold out there and when I mentioned it to my SO, he didn't have the same experience with his food. So it makes me wonder if my food ended up sitting for awhile after it was made. I also felt like my asparagus was a touch underdone and a touch too oily. Now, none of these are huge glaring issues, but considering the prices, I would expect better. They seem to be trying for a more high end experience and if you are aiming for higher end, then I expect more attention to be paid to the small details. I know the restaurant is just starting out and I would be willing to go back and try it again to see if there were just some kinks to work out, but for now, 3 stars is accurate given our experience.

Walked in, sat down and walked out. Atmosphere is cold, prices are astronomically ridiculous, even for a fine dining restaurant in Salem/Keizer area. I was truly hoping this was a winner but instead I didn't even eat dinner.

You know, I was pleasantly surprised by the Delaney Madison. It's a little out of the way (for one, I don't live in Keizer) but its lakeside location is definitely scenic. The staff was friendly and service was prompt. Came for lunch, so place wasn't terribly crowded. Atmosphere and decor was actually pretty nice too, even though that's not something I usually pay attention to. Food itself was pretty good. Wished I'd ordered what my grandmother did, which was the meatloaf sandwich. Meatloaf, from what I briefly tasted, was moist, well bodied and savory. I ordered the street tacos, which weren't bad but could have been better. Prices weren't too bad and portions, considering it was the lunch menu, were just right. Dessert was decadent and aesthetically pleasing. Overall, I hope this place does well and if I'm in the area again, I'll definitely make a return trip.

We saw that a new restaurant would be opening in our area and we watched for it to open. We didn't quite make the first day but my husband and I made it for dinner on the second. We enjoyed ourselves immensely! We were greeted by a friendly staff that was eager to see that we enjoyed ourselves and no request went unanswered. Whoever hired and trained these folks did a marvelous job. From our arrival to departure, each one we encountered was friendly and ready to please. The atmosphere is elegant and comfortable. It's light and airy with lots of windows that overlook a small lake. Seating is available both inside and out. Even without the lake, the interior decor is beautiful. I've saved the best for last: the food was phenomenal! We started out with the signature Arcadian salad which was delicious. My husband was delighted with the scallops over rice he had ordered and I savored my chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and THE best green beans I have ever eaten! We splurged a bit and shared the peanut butter mousse cup for dessert. It truly was melt-in-my-mouth delicious. It's my understanding that emphasis is on Oregon-based foods. We will be coming back and bringing our guests with us. It was a delightful evening.

This place was so good!! The food was fresh, delicious, and ordered just as we specified. The fries are a must! Even my mom, who hates fries, loved them!! The staff was excellent. We had a waitress who was attentive, friendly, and prompt with what we needed. I have absolutely no complaints about this place. The desserts are incredible as well. We will definitely be going back whenever we can :)

We went here for an anniversary dinner. The food was pretty good, but I would not say the absoulute best. The owner was there that night and came out to greet us. Service was awesome!

My coworker and I found ourselves in Keizer today at lunchtime so we looked up a restaurant on yelp to get some food. We walked in the door and no one was there to greet us. We waited around and not a soul to be found anywhere. We heard people laughing and talking around the corner so we stuck our head in the door to see if anyone was working. we saw about 8 to 10 people eating at several different tables but just when I was about to ask the bartender for a table a hostess (or possibly a manager or owner ) arrived to the lobby to seat us. We asked to be seated to eat lunch and she grabbed two menus and started for the restaurant, then suddenly and for no reason, she stopped and said, " im sorry lunch is closed down today." "we have a group coming for dinner and we need to get ready for it." we looked inside again to see about 8 other people in there laughing and eating their lunch. I looked down to see what I was wearing and we were both well dressed, in khakis and a polo shirt, it was raining hard, we were both rain soaked from walking from the parking lot so only thing I could think of is she didnt want us to drip water on the floor. I was baffled and confused. I have never been turned away before. I will never go to this restaurant again, and I will tell over a hundred people about the rude behavior we received. we went to sharis a couple blocks away and had a nice lunch.

We have eaten at Delaney Madison Grill three times. The first time was shortly after they had opened, and I wasn't in any hurry to go back. I did not care for the texture of the meatloaf. The flavor was good. The owner was so friendly however, that we decided to give the place another try. The second time the choice of entree I had was very good, and had a beautiful presentation. The owner gave us about a half a glass of complementary new wine that he had just gotten for the restaurant. What a treat. The third time was on New Year's Eve. It was kind of noisy, but the food was excellent. I had the lasagna, and it had a surprise bite to it . It was obvious that they have been listening to their customers. The menu was quite expanded with different prices. The two suggestions I would have, is to serve Pinot Noir with Pinot glasses, and also to get plates with flat rims so that it is easy to put our silverware on the edge of the plate. I am now feeling like we have an excellent restaurant in Keizer that will be very popular.

Go there for GOOD food! I rarely give 5 star reviews. I qualify this by saying 5 stars in Salem, Oregon. But it is as good as it gets in this area. We were fans of Caruso's before they closed so were pleased and curious to see the space back in business. We were very pleased with our dinners. I had the scallops and risotto. Excellent - it's so easy to mis-cook scallops - these were perfect. The risotto was was made for the dish -- not goopy and pasty at all. Just a hint of cayenne made this dish stand out with out being a mouth burn. My dining partner had the crab/lobster/shrimp special. It's expensive. It's good. But you should be prepared to get a dish akin to a bouillabaisse in essence -- it's in a soupy mixture. Nice touches with onion and mushrooms in the broth. The salads were fresh. The house dressing was a nice vinegar/balsamic mix. I upgraded to the Caprese salad. It had a very nice balsamic reduction. The cheese was fresh and light, and the tomatoes tasted like tomatoes! We went the full meal to give the place a good test drive. We split the apple pie/french vanilla dessert. Some of the best apple pie I've had in many years. A truly good pie crust. Firm, flakey, no sogginess. We're foodies and we were impressed. Next time I want to try the meat loaf -- three species of meat blended into it.

We visited with a group of 6 just after they opened. Everyone was pleased with the meal - GREAT presentation, attentive staff, good wine selection and we all received our dinner at once. I had the fresh salmon and I think it's the best dinner I've had in a restaurant in a long time. I went there with a friend yesterday. We enjoyed the sunshine on the deck and a glass of wine. Perfect! Thank you Jim and Elizabeth for bringing Delaney Madison Grill to Keizer!

First, the service was outstanding. The owner came by our table to ask the key to 47 years of marriage. Our anniversary dinner of sea scallops and salmon did not disappoint! The Soup for the evening was the most delectable mushroom one could ever imagine.

My wife Liz and I were waiting for this restaurant to open. We were very happy with the service and the food. Keizer now has a top notch restaurant.

We were really hoping to have great things to say about this place. Location is good, wait staff was friendly. Place was almost empty on a Saturday early evening, which I wish we would have taken as the first red flag. We had the halibut, salmon and shrimp. All the seafood was overcooked. The Au Gratin potatoes were oily, runny and very bland. The "bland" theme was across the board, very little seasoning or flavor to our selections..except for the broccoli which appeared to have been "burned" on the end with a torch leaving a burnt taste in your mouth. Service was very slow. Certainly not the chef like quality that is being advertised. Prices are insane for bad food!

We went with several friends for happy hour. The drinks were very small for the price. The margarita was mostly ice in a small glass, not a margarita glass. The food was good, but we felt that it was pricey. We probably will not go back.
