My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at the Touvelle House. We really enjoyed ourselves. Jamie and Shawn are amazing hosts. Not only is the house tastefully decorated, the rooms are extremely comfortable and the food was delicious. Jamie and Shawn have done a great job making this house their own. We look forward to visiting them again. We highly recommend this place.

This home has a lot of history and is in a beautiful setting. The rooms are clean and very nicely decorated. The owners, Jamie and Shawn, fill their role as hosts to a tee. The food was great, as was the conversation. The property is only a couple of blocks from bustling downtown Jacksonville, where there is shopping and a variety of restaurants. We would love to bring our family back to this inn!

First time staying at a bed and breakfast, and pretty sure it is going to be hard to top Touvelle house and the awesome hospitality of Gary and Tim. We arrived at 11pm at night, and were the only ones staying that night, so we had this gigantic house space basically to ourself. We stayed in a cozy little room on the third floor (Adirondack), which is the only one with the bathtub. The bed was fantastic (had to get the details on their sheets and feather pillow (which they fluff up on a regular basis). Woke up in the morning to the smell of coffee brewing and robins chirping outside the window (there is a sound machine in the room, but since we live in NE portland, this place seemed extremely quiet). The breakfast was fantastic, and they even have an alternative list of food in case you are allergic to various things. The grounds are very nice, and if we were here in the summer would have sat by the pool and used the sauna. I am sitting in a cozy leather chair in the living room by the fire, drinking a great cup of coffee while writing this. Totally recommend, and this is my new place to stay when I am in Southern Oregon.

Charming & relaxing B&B. My husband and I stayed at Touvelle House for the weekend. We had heard wonderful things about southern Oregon and their up & coming wine region. The wine portion of the weekend was incredible as well, but the highlight was definitely this gem of a bed & breakfast, with its most hospitable hosts, Jamie & Shawn. Our room was great, nice linens and very comfortable. Every detail was attended to; from the glass bottles to fill your water, the toiletries basket in the bathroom to the movie room with blankets and popcorn. All around this has been our favorite B&B stay. Also, the breakfast was delicious. I can't wait to plan our next visit!

You won't find a better B&B than this. Before Brian and Gary took over, this 1916 Craftsman style home was a typical nice B&B - judging from the before and after photos in the book in the great room. Tim and Gary have made it into a completely elegant B&B. The decor is wonderful and the furnishings high quality. The great room has Stickley easy chairs and sofa. There are so many places and little nooks to sit in the common areas, indoors and out, you would need to stay there a week to try them all out. The grounds are beautiful - also designed by Tim and Gary. Our room, the Elizabeth TouVelle room, was spacious, light, and very comfortable in spite of the outside temps in the mid 90s. The front window looked out into a huge old oak tree and on to the extensive grounds. The side window looked down into a side courtyard with a fountain and garden. The chair in our room was very high quality and comfortable. I have stayed at many nice B&Bs without a single comfortable chair in the entire place. This was a delight. Everything was first rate. The breakfast was excellent, with everyone seated at one large table. We had wonderful conversations at breakfast with the whole table participating at the beginning, then breaking into a group at each end. We walked to dinner both evenings and had excellent food at two of the many near-by restaurants. Tim and Gary were both very charming and made the extra effort to give each of their guests individual attention. We look forward to staying here again.

This was one of the nicest B&Bs we have stayed in, rustic modern, great breakfast, good hosts and awesome pool. Tons of wineries a short drive away, or walk on into historic downtown. We will be staying here again.

We recently spent our 16th anniversary at the Touvelle House. Wow, what an amazing experience. It is a beautiful house and property, and our room was exquisite. The saltwater pool was so refreshing, and perfect for the warm spring afternoons. Perfect location to walk into town and a short drive to all of the wineries. The breakfasts were cooked to perfection every morning, absolutely delicious...the best part of our stay?...the warm and friendly hospitality of the owners Shawn and Jaime; I feel like we have made new friends in Southern Oregon (including the puppies)...they are the best! Thank you for an amazing stay, we will definitely be back. Chuck and Meghan Steen

My husband and I were greeted at the door by the owner who gave us a warm welcome and a tour a this beautiful historic house. We saw a show at Britt and were very pleased when the owner said they had complimentary 'Britt-approved chairs' and blankets for us to use. An easy five minute walk and we were there and able to enjoy our lawn seating in style. We slept with the windows open to allow in the clean, fragrant Oregon air. We awakened to the sounds of wild turkeys and a woodpecker in the beautifully landscaped garden. A delicious breakfast was awaiting us downstairs where the guests get to dine together and share in conversation. The house is surrounded by all types of trees and from our room we had a gorgeous view of the Cascade mountains. Very comfortable bed!!! Nicely decorated with plenty of photos of the house throughout its years for history buffs to enjoy. We would highly recommend the Touvelle House to anyone who wants to enjoy a very calm, comfortable stay with VERY nice people.

I really wish we could have stayed more than one night. After a booking mishap at another hotel (a very loooong story), my husband and I decided to spend one night at the Touvelle House before heading on to Ashland. Our room (the Crater Lake room) was at the tip-top of the house, and I was worried that it might be hot or stuffy because of the summer heat. This was NOT the case. We had our own dedicated air conditioner that pumped out icy blasts of air. We remained cool and cozy, despite the soaring temperatures outside. Our suite - as well as the entire house - was immaculate. Clean and dust-free, and charmingly decorated. Breakfast was lovely and generous: an egg souffle, yogurt and berries, fresh baked banana bread, and juice. Gary and Tim were incredibly kind and gracious hosts, and even gave us some tips on what to see and do in nearby Medford. And downtown Jacksonville is literally a few steps away. The only downside is that the B&B is alarmingly close to a historic cemetery, which, for those of us who are petrified of zombies, is a bit unsettling. But I'd still visit again.

What a wonderful find. A beautiful house, a lovely, comfortable bed, quiet, luxurious amenities. The grounds are beautiful. We definitely will be back. Can't wait to stay when it's warm and the pool is operational, but the fall air is great, too.

I won't repeat what other reviewers have already stated except to echo the friendly owners, exquisite attention to detail throughout the house, clean, clean everywhere, great breakfast and comfortable rooms. I'm not always a B&B fan, but I will return here when we come to Jacksonville again.

The Touvelle House is unparalleled in quality. The rooms are cozy, very comfortably decorated, impeccably clean and very well appointed with high quality bed linens and towels. You feel as comfortable as you are in your own home. Gorgeous grounds that are rural and beautiful. The pool is surrounded by flowers and big trees making it very peaceful and relaxing. You can walk everywhere easily and comfortably. Town is a minute away and there are trails through the serene country side. Jacksonville is a small peaceful, classy and quaint with good food. Most importantly are the hosts. Jamie and Shawn take pride in their work and are very warm and welcoming. They think of all the little extras and do their utmost to accommodate special requests. This made our stay memorable. Great experience!

What a shame there are not more reviews of the comfortable and delightful TouVelle House! I thought I'd find dozens. I will, therefore, do my part to right this woeful wrong. My husband and I just spent five cozy, restful nights in Tim and Gary's wonderfully comfortable bed in the peaceful and well appointed Crater Lake room, and completely relished each breakfast feast the next morning. I could not even begin to adequately describe the exquisitely gratifying fare prepared from scratch for us. Honestly, the variety of fine cuisine we enjoyed is not anything I would have thought to make for myself, but is was ALL wonderfully delectable! Although there are several alternative breakfasts from which to choose, the featured menu is not to be missed even if it seems like something you might not thoroughly enjoy... believe me, you will! My husband was sorry the two mornings he opted for Butte Creek oatmeal (even though it was also very good) instead of the planned menu items. Obviously, the food as the highlight of MY stay at TouVelle House. I must also mention that Tim and Gary's suggestions for sights not to be missed were appreciated and completely accurate; we were not disappointed. And, we took advantage of a hiking book they conspicuously left on one of the dining tables for us to find... just another example of their thoughtfulness and hospitality. Although there was not a TV in our room, we had the little nook with the flat-screen and DVD player all to ourselves several nights to enjoy our hometown team's baseball game one night and a good movie (from their extensive collection) another. Not wanting to belabour an overly exhaustive review of our completely gratifying visit, I will end with the admonition that you will not be disappointed staying at the TouVelle House. It is an experience that will never be forgotten. Too bad there are not more than five stars to give it.

Our group of eight descended on Touvelle House on a Friday afternoon and found our home away from home. The hosts are perfect: helpful, friendly and unobtrusive. The house and decor are something out of Architectural Digest and the food is sublime. If you are used to chain-hotel living while on vacation, this will re-define for you what it means to be pampered. We don't have many perfect experiences in life, so enjoy this one.

I always recommend this place to travelers looking for a great spot to stay in Jacksonville. Their gardens and interior are so well kept that sometimes I want to do a stay-cation in my hometown.

When my wife and I decided to go on vacation, we always struggle with where to stay. We know where were going, what were going to do, places to eat, sights to see, et cetera. However, the one challenge we have is where to stay. Oh sure, we can browse through hotel and lodging websites (we always start there), but it's become quite an adventure as we sift through thousands of quotes, reviews and location pictures. What's funny about all this is that we always end up with the same general decision....IT MUST BE A BED AND BREAKFAST!! "Why?' you ask. Simple, really. It's about being someplace like home. Come on, you know, we all know the different definitions of the word home... ...relaxed and comfortable ...at ease ...in harmony with the surroundings These are things you can't get at a hotel, where the hardly get to know your name, and they herd you in and out like cattle. So, on our latest trip to Oregon, we yearned for our "home away from home." After the long searching, we found a place in the small town of Jacksonville, OR, the Touvelle House. They did have some beautiful pictures of the homes and ground, but what attracted us more was the over 150 rave reviews of this oasis of the Northwest. We had to check it out, and see if it lived up to our four categories of must haves... INTERIOR - The Touvelle house is masterfully designed to fit the craftsman style of the house itself. Whether it was resting in the comfortable surrounds of our beautiful room, or sitting quietly in front of one of their two fireplaces, we found ourselves immersed in such grandeur that you could have just stayed inside and enjoyed yourself. EXTERIOR - The grounds are quite extensive and include the following amenities: 1) Pool 2) Sauna 3) Bocce Ball I'd include items for there general landscaping, but that doesn't really describe the beauty of each carefully designed area of the grounds, which ranged for general floral areas to a lovely pond and fountain in front of the house. There are seating areas littered throughout the entire grounds, offering some wonderful view of the area. In many cases, we were welcomes by the wandering deer (with their fawns) as they played, ate and generally rested everywhere. FOOD - A different dish every morning, all using some of the freshest ingredients available in the area. All the meals started with a homemade muffin or scone, followed by local fruit and yogurt, and finally a succulent egg dish with roasted potatoes or vegetables. Teas and Coffee are available all day and night, and fresh cookies were baked to warm us on cool evenings. There is also a nice selection of wines from local wineries, which would be tasted and purchased through the B&B. HOSTS - This is where the Touvelle house goes from a great bed and breakfast to a truly special destination on its own right. Gary and Tim take every special care to ensure you have an enjoyable experience in both their establishment and in their small town. From providing information on things to do in the area to recommending restaurants for dinner events, they leave nothing out. Some of our fondest moments of our recent vacation were when we convinced our hosts to just sat and talked with our hosts about life and our fun experiences. Over the week we stayed at the Touvelle House, they became so much more than hosts, they became our friends. What does this mean for you? It means that you'd better find a reason to get yourself to this town, and more importantly, this wonderful bed and breakfast. It's rare when you find that one special place that reminds you of all that is good in the world, or takes you away from the hustle and bustle or the daily grind. In the case of Touvelle, I think they now have a piece of my heart, and I yearn for the opportunity to go back and be "home."
