Stopped in the day after Christmas on our way back to Bend. The location of this place is adorable and I have always wanted to stop. Too bad I left so disappointed. When we arrived there wasn't a soul in the place so we nabbed a seat by the wood stove. This was really awesome. The ambiance is really nice- lodge, snow falling and a river rushing out the back window. That gets 5 stars for sure. We ordered breakfast- Chicken Fried steak came with just a small amount of country gravy and nothing to call home about. The potatoes were clearly Cisco right from the freezer. I had an omelette-not too shabby. We were hoping for a little more of a home-cooked meal though, not straight from the freezer. I suppose that's asking a lot of a small place on the side of the highway. The service is what really irked me. After we arrived, many others did as well. There was only one gal waiting tables and it was clearly too much for her. I ordered a soda for 2.29 and never once got a refill. We also needed another side of country gravy and it never arrived. This is because after our food was dropped off, we never saw her again until she finally met us at the front so we could pay our check. IF we ever go again, we'll stick with burgers because those are safe. I will also just ask for a pitcher of water in case we are never checked on again. I hate leaving such a negative feedback, but we were disappointed. We spent $28 on breakfast that was so so and serviced that sucked.

We stopped here on the way back from a camping trip. Food was good, nothing spectacular but tasty and filling. I was happy that the menu included a smaller portion chicken fried steak breakfast. I love chicken fried steak, but usually don't want the giant portion. Decor was fun, lots of cool taxidermy. Service was pretty good, we didn't wait long for food and our coffee cups were kept full. The view is definitely the best part. It's right on the river. Even though it was a bit too chilly to sit on the deck during our visit we were still able to enjoy the view through the large windows. I will stop here again.

Food was great! Wonderful rustic setting with lots of cool decorations including some outstanding taxidermy! The staff and owners are very friendly and seem glad to have you stop in! We had chicken strips and the fish n chips and both were as fresh as can be! Marion Forks also has a bar with a great view over looking he river from the upstream side and the restaurant has a view of downstream! I highly recommend stopping by here if your passing through or if your in the area. Best food you could get in the Santiam canyon!

We were out at the in-law's cabin this weekend for FIL's birthday! He wanted to also watch the ducks game, so we went to the only choice around. The view and setting is great; the back deck almost hangs over the treed river and the rushing water is a great ambiance. The decor is half done right; the wall hangings, taxidermy and wood stove creates that lodge like feel. Eating off a peeling laminate table, not so much. The pool table in the lounge was free to play and it was a beautiful custom looking table. They have satellite TV on a nice sized flat panel in the bar. Now the meh part. The food is overpriced; I ordered the pan fried oysters: iceburg & beets salad, onion rings, 5 large breaded oysters and vegetables that were over seasoned with white wine. The rings were very greasy. That was 16.99. Everything else was similarly priced, you're paying for the view, the free billiards and the lodge atmosphere. Take your time and hang out... You'll need to because there is one server and one cook! They did bring out the cake my kids baked, lit the candles and provided plates and stuff no charge. I'm ADDING a star for that! Marion Forks Restaurant, if you ever read this, upgrading your tables or adding some tablecloths would vastly improve the dining experience. I think small touches like that would step you up to commanding the prices you're charging. Food tastes better when you're in that "fine dining" mode! One more piece of advice: bake your rolls at a little higher temperature (maybe to adjust for the higher altitude!!).

Usually good for a nice burger after camping, but this time around it was awful. We seated ourselves and waited, and waited. No acknowledgement at all cause the three waitresses were to busy talking among themselves. After 10 minutes we left.

Have been on vacation in the Pacific Northwest for the last two weeks. Came all the up OR-22 on the recommendation of a buddy in Salem who's stopped by this place many times to see his brother in Idaho. The view in the restaurant of the riverand the mountains after a recent rains was beautiful. I had the Chicken Fried Steak. In one word: AWESOME!!!!. It was so tender and flavorful it literally melted in my mouth. The portion was huge and the crust was flaky and tasty. The country gravy wasn't heavy at all with a fabulous flavor. The Best Chicken Fried Steak I've EVER eaten. The BEST!! My buddy had a Steak Sandwich and Fries and my wife had the Pork chops. My rating would have been a five but her chops were a bit dry, though very flavorful as well. The service was great and the waitress attentive. If half points were an option, I would give this place a 4 1/2 EASY. All in all a Great Experience.

We met a friend from Bend here yesterday in the wet weather. It is a perfect milage for us both. What a delightful meal we had ! Yup, first time I have ever used 5 stars. We had Alicia as our server as well and she was delightful. The food was fabulous !. Our party of four had two bacon burgers, one special of the day ( Hot Beef Sandwich) and a French Dip. The burger we cooked to order as requested and made of some of the smoothest meat I have ever had in a ground version. The burgers are 1/2 lb and huge too !. My Hot Beef sammy had real mashed potatoes which we awesome and and a scrumptious gravy smothering it all. The meat was super tender roast beef not sure of what cut ! This was true with my other guests French Dip Sammie with meat piled high on a soft bun and real made form the meat Jus , just the way it ought to be. We had no idea they were putting put food of this caliber up there. Apparently Alicia and her husband ( who runs the fish hatchery across the way) just started this venture back in January and have have been having good success. It is easy to taste why ! The four of us have decided to make this a monthly thing it was so good. Can't wait to be able to sit outside and have cocktails near the tumbling creek that runs alongside. The tab for the 4 of us including some coffees was incredible modest for what were served. There was no bad. Ok , the weather sucked, but thats not they're fault, LOL.

We were on our way to Bend with a crying baby and two irritated dogs when we new through Detroit not finding anything worth stopping for. I remembered this place and thought it might be a better option so we pressed onwards. We were greeted warmly by one of the nicest waitresses i've ever had and my son immediately locked eyes with the big stuffed moose on the walls. After taking him on a tour of taxidermy we settled in with our dinner which was excellent! My husband had a big old burger with an egg on it and it was fresh and delicious. The best part hands down though was the homemade chips! You must get the chips!! Next time we venture out to visit Bend I look forward to stopping here for some grub. Bonus points for the amazing view :)

Usually I'm in too much of a hurry or the timing is wrong, but today I finally took the opportunity to have lunch here. The weather was fine, so I got to sit on the deck overlooking the chuckling river: Perfect ambiance! The ice tea was tall, unending and had a good flavor. The Reuben sandwich was as good as I've had: Plenty of meat, good amount of sauerkraut, the cheese and dressing were there but not overwhelming and the rye bread was toasted to perfection. Yumm! The waitress was pleasant, available but not hovering, and told me about another place I'll have to try because "their Reuben is possibly even better than ours."

Could smell something wonderful passing by, so wanted to check it out. Great service, good plain food, and quite tasty. Strong Wifi. Ask for the password. We had the trout and the meatloaf. Both were very good. Really nice waitress. She was working the entire restaurant and did a great job. It was a quiet evening, she handled it very well. We had marionberry pie for dessert, which was good as well. You're hungry and need to eat now? Check it out.

First time here on our way home, food was great! The whole restaurant and lounge area was silent though, no music or background noise. Made it slightly awkward to be able to literally hear everyone in there. Besides that it was great though and we will be back!

Stopped here with the family for an early dinner before a sunset hike in September 2012. Overall the food was tolerable, but not great. Seafood fettucini and fish & chips were OK. Oyster stew was good. We enjoyed sitting on the deck beside the creek, and looking at the mounted animal heads & pelts on the walls.

Ah, this is great! What a refreshing place to stop. You're on a long trip taking Hwy. 22 through the Cascade Mountains when out in the middle of the tall trees pops up a restaurant---or should I say, a destination dining experience. This place has such a neat atmosphere: it's like a cabin that feels like home, tucked away amongst the tall fir trees with beautiful views of the peaceful Marion Creek. Apparently new management came into play January 1st, 2015. The manager, Alicia, was our server and she was so welcoming. They had a great kids menu: our kids ordered the Grilled Cheese, Fish & Chips and their Cheeseburger. Each enjoyed the fresh-cut, homemade fries! I was thrilled to see salad options that were delicious and filling. I ordered the Cobb Salad (Yay! They had avocado all the way up in Marion Forks!) and tried something new: Marionberry Vinaigrette! They even have gluten-free options! My husband ordered the Not Your Mama's Meatloaf Sandwich, which he says was delicious. I was proud of him for trying something new! We all really enjoyed the dinner and the visit---we plan to go there again soon. In addition to family dining, they have a nice, quiet lounge. Perhaps husband and I have a date night in our future?

This is a 2-star restaurant but a 4-star roadside stop. The food is totally respectable, classic American diner food: totally fine, but nothing fabulous or gourmet. Wait, I take that back: the home-cooked chips (not the french fries) are SPECTACULAR. But what's really terrific, as noted by other reviewers, is the riverside deck. Such a lovely place to eat lunch, and the kids loved all the hummingbirds attracted by their feeders. We also enjoyed marvelling at their taxidermy collection, which was a good thing, because it took quite a long time to get our lunch. Overall, a solid place to stop on the road, but not worth a detour.

We're longtime customers of this beautifully conveniently situated full-service restaurant. The restaurant had been closed the last few times we tried to stop here, so we were quite pleased to find it open on Fourth Of July. It's a perfect place to stop on the long drive from Sisters over Santiam Pass, a few miles past the BSA Camp Pioneer turnoff. The interior has a nice spacious big-windowed lodge feel. We went for the outdoor dining on the large riverside deck. The food is just good standard traditional American fare; it's the location that makes it a Five Star stop. Service is fine and kitchen is quick. Newly available: totally adequate wireless access.

New owner. Great food. Had breakfast with real home fries. The bisquits & gravy were awesome. Took some fresh out of the oven marion berry scones with us and could not keep the kids from eating them. Right on the river with a down home feel. Trophy elk, deer, and a huge moose head. It will be fun to stop and enjoy the deck in the Summer

We usually are in a hurry and drive right by on our way over the pass but not this time. We stopped for breakfast this morning and had such an enjoyable experience. Great atmosphere coupled with great food and service. The word is that the new owners are making most everything from scratch now and it shows. Looking forward to seeing how there lunch and dinners are. Definitely worth the stop!

I'll point out that my 2-stars is only reflective of my opinion on the food, and ONLY the food. If I were to rate this place based upon aesthetics & location, I'd score it a little higher. The outdoor seating was incredibly pretty--with a lovely little creek flowing alongside. The interior/exterior of the building were both clean and nicely kept. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, despite being very busy & possibly a bit understaffed/overwhelmed by the flow of customers. So on all those fronts = I'd probably offer a 4-star. But... I'm reviewing a single experience about food myself and a friend had here, on our first and only visit. So I'd take my review "with a grain of salt". :) We had the Cobb salad and a chicken sammich. Mine was the salad. While it was certainly edible, and I did devour the entire meal... it wasn't anything I'd recommend to anyone. The lettuce was iceberg and something within the dish carried a fish flavor. I had ranch dressing over it and couldn't drown out the flavor of what seemed to be fish grease or something--though it was chicken within the salad. I'm comparing this to the many cobbs that I've had now, and it ranked abysmally low. My teammate and I both asked (both large men) for big food item recommendations... what we got wasn't even close to "big". Though I'm aware that this is completely subjective. To some, these items may indeed be filling. The chicken sammich was tiny! The only reason he didn't order another meal was because the sammich came with a fair number of VERY good fries. But for the price... it was a bit of robbery, on their part. We did stop elsewhere and pick up some more food, just to top ourselves off. The chicken in both my salad and his sammich was rubbery and dry. I hope they make plenty of food that is better than these items. Because this was some pretty poor eats, in my humble opinion. Loved the staff & establishment though! It'd be a great place to sit on the deck and enjoy a cold drink.
