One thing to remember when you come up to this restaraunt is that it is located within the brewery. That's not a bad thing, but it can lead to some confusion when you are a tourist from out of town. I am not sure that there would be any change that I would make that would make this better. The staff was very friendly, and we were seated immediately, which is the benefit of going to a restaraunt mid-week. I can't say enough about how friendly our waitress was. She is the knid of person that ensures that you come back to a restaraunt. The overall atmosphere was friendly, open and casual. We ordered the Artichoke dip appetizer, which is very tasty. It has a nice little bite to it. This was a great suggestion from our waitress. For our main course, we ordered a cheeseburger off of the kids menu for my son, the ribs for me, and a sandwich for my wife. The kids dish was about the right size for a little guy. My ribs were really tasty. The only small complaint about the ribs that I would make was that there was a dry section in the ribs. It was a small spot though, and nothing to worry our waitress about. My wife said that her sandwich was good, but not great. Overall, we would eat here again, and I would recommend it to others, as there are a bunch of good things going on here.

I really enjoyed stopping here on my wife's and my Pacific Northwest road trip. The salmon fish and chips and beer were fantastic (I can't remember what I got, but it was one not available in stores). It was great having it fresh after buying it at Trader Joe's and Sprout's through the years. And there's also a nice patio where you gaze at the Columbia in all her glory. Definitely, take a tour of the brewing facilities it you can. You'll learn quite a bit about the process, and you'll get a nice souvenir pint glass at the end for free.

If you go, skip the burger and order the chicken fajita sandwich, instead. It's unique and delicious. I'm craving one today.

This place was fantastic. The patio was gorgeous and it was a perfect place to grab lunch after a morning of hiking. We got the salmon fish and chips and the salmon sandwich. Never thought to batter and fry salmon but it was good. We also got focaccia bread. I will say that it wasn't good. I find it odd that cold dipping sauce is paired with warm bread. Outside of that, the food meals were good, drinks were good, and the view was great. Also took a tour of the brewery which was pretty cool. They give you a free glass at the end.

If heaven made beer I died and went to full sail!! From the second I walked in after a long day on the mountain I was greeted with great sights and smells!! From beer to food this place is just terrific.... If you are ever in the area and don't go here you're going to beer hell!!

This place caters to the beer tourist crowd, and it won't disappoint them. But in an area with a half-dozen brew-pubs, it's not hard to find better beer. food, and service elsewhere. Go here once just to say you did, but next time try Double Mountain, Pfriem, Solara, or Everybody's Brewing (across the river in White Salmon).

my first beer tour! Learned that just because a beer is darker doesn't necessarily mean it's stronger. Got my own pint glass at end of tour. Lunch on the patio was very nice with a nice view. I don't recommend sitting by the smoke stack up in the eastern corner of the patio UNLESS you like to be toasty warm though. It so happens, I do! The potato salad is sooooo good. I had the Vietnamese meatball sandwich. It doesn't seem to be that large of a portion until you try eating the whole thing! I do suggest they put it on a softer bread. It was impossible for me to eat it on the bread it came on b/c there was no "give" to smoosh it together. but, it was all delicious and staff made this experience a very pleasant one.

One of the things that sets this brew pub apart from most others is that it is independent and employee owned which shows in the care taken to prepare your meal and the service provided by all on the floor. Special requests are not a problem as was evident when I ordered the Full Sail cheese burger without a bun. My waitress didn't even bat an eye. When my burger arrived it looked fantastic and it tasted just as good. After I had a few bites my waitress checked to make sure everything was as expected just to be sure I was happy and boy was I. An added note: I was traveling through with 3 hours remaining on my drive and this is one of my favorite stops because it never takes too long for service yet I'm not eating at some fast food joint.

We've tried to go here a few times over the years but the lines were always too long. This time we went at an off-time for a snack and got right in. (When we were leaving there was a line out the door.) The service was friendly and fast even though they were crowded. Decent prices. I'm not a huge fan of their beers so that wasn't great. We ordered the wings as an appetizer and while the wings themselves were really good and very spicy, the carrots and celery on the plate were old. It was disgusting. If that chef was on Top Chef and had plated the wings with rotting carrots and celery he'd be sent home. Why did they even put it on the plate? Gross!

Fries were good, ordered a well done burger and it was burnt. A lesson well learned will always order medium well. Service was kind of slow. Over all average place in my book.

  • Shane S.

Amazing food. Potentially the best Reuben sandwich of my life! The burgers were unbelievable as well. The beer flight comes with a FREE full sail glass to keep. Service was fast and pleasant. Great stop during the Mount Hood Scenic Loop. Overall great experience.

Very nice crafted beers. Pubby atmosphere. We both had pork loin sandwiches and at $11 they were large and delicious. The fries didn't look like the way we like them (thin and crispy) they seemed to be on the fat side, so our meal came with a very nice salad. Nice view from the deck.

  • Barb B.

We sat on the deck, enjoyed the great view of the windsurfers on the River and good beer. I had the LTD 05 Vienna Lager, while my hubby had the Session Black Premium Dark Lager. Both were delicious. Hey, now that I think about it, we were going to swap when we were half thru them cuz we both thought they were both that good. But I missed out. Next time.... We just had a beer, no food. But the food around us looked and smelled pretty good. Go enjoy a beer on the deck!

Good apps, pretzel breadsticks with the cheese sauce were really good. The view from the restaurant is pretty good and the beer was tasty.

Great place to stop for lunch. On a nice day enjoy the patio with a beautiful view. Food is good, beer excellent.

  • Peter N.

As a windsurfer, I had to go here. Brewery food is always a toss up, but the vegan selection was pretty good, and the server was on form with choices. The resturant has a great view of the river (if you can get a good seat), with the kitesurfers out in strength. I wasn't really blown away by the beer, as I wasn't in general in Oregon, so that's why it only gets 4 stars. But they had a good selection, and would have to try more. Would go back for sure.

Tasty food and beer. Vegan and kid friendly. Outside deck was awesome, but a bit loud due to the train and neighborhood trucks. Great service.

  • Leanne P.

Great stop on our way to Portland. The view from the restaurant can't be best. Although our little one wasn't with us on this visit, I noticed that this restaurant is very kid-friendly. Food is solid (I had the classic cheeseburger) and phenomenal beer. Take time to go on the brewery tour. Our tour guide was fun and informative. Best of all: you get a free Full Sail glass at the end of the tour!

Outdoor heated patio with big screen! Great start...the beet salad was delicious and my beer cheese soup was excellent. The potato bacon soup was delicious as well but could have been heartier! I especially enjoyed my anniversary wheatwine ale!!!!

This was a great brewery! My husband and I got some beer at the bar and were served by very friendly waitresses and a polite bartender who was helpful with my beer selection. We wanted to have a beer before embarking on the brewery tour - they start at 1PM, and I believe they have them at 2, 3, and 4 o'clock. They last about 30 minutes and although there is a limit of 25, we only had about 10 people in our group. It was very quiet because the employees work during the weekdays only. Our tour guide was extremely helpful and really sweet. As somebody who obsesses over stuff like "How It's Made" and "Food Factory" on the Food Channel, it was like a dream come true to see how they make beer and bottle it. We even got a couple of Full Sail pint glasses after the tour as a token of their appreciation for doing the tour. Definitely worth it if you've got a spare 30 minutes in Hood River! I'd love to come back here to try the food next time.

  • Maryam A.

The staff here is super friendly and the beer is delicious. Definitely a hallmark of Hood River. For a brew pub, the food is great, and they have fresh, healthy options as well as the classic pub dishes. Portions are big - definitely shareable! The beer to take away is also really reasonably priced which we can't say for all popular brew pubs. Can't wait for my next excuse to drive through the gorge.

  • Lyndsay B.

The beer here is pretty good, too bad it was served by an uninterested waitress and came alongside some of the worst pub food I've ever had. We ordered the alleged pretzel bread sticks as an appetizer. They were not pretzels in any way shape or form. They were hard, dense, elongated nuggets of tasteless bread. The "small dose of beer cheese" accompanying the "pretzel" bread sticks was served in a one oz ramekin. Really? Three dunks and it was gone. Totally unappetizing and not worth it. My beet salad was a joke. It was a huge pile of lettuce with a pile of canned beets plunked in the middle and a few crushed hazelnuts scattered about for good measure. The dressing was served on the side. It was tasteless and I probably would have been better off ordering a salad from Wendy's or McDonald's. My husband had ordered the artichoke dip and pita as his dinner. It was the spiciest darn artichoke dip ever, and that's not a good thing. The pita were not toasted or even warm. When we told the waitress that the dip was unexpectedly spicy and we did not like it, she neither apologized nor took it off our bill. My advice? Don't eat here. Save the belly space for tasting some beer and then head a block or so over to that other brewery nearby which has great service and some of the best pizza I've had.

My husband and I stopped at Full Sail Brewery for dinner on our way back home to Vancouver Washington. We sat on the patio, the view was wonderful! We enjoyed a beer sampler tray and a delish dinner! We couldn't have asked for a better dinner spot!

Great burger and Cajun chicken sandwhich. Beer was not very tasty but they have a decent couple house wines which filled the void. Order the burger MR.

Good food, beer, and service. We ordered the burger, bratwurst, and salmon fish and chips. Sat by the window for a nice view of the Columbia River, windsurfers, and kite boarders.

  • Matthew S.

The beer is just fine. No complaints. The location likewise. Even the service was good. The food is a big let down of biblical proportions. The equivalent of nutritional kryptonite means we would never go back. Why? There is just too much competition with good beer, location and service. The food seems very dated and just bland....really bland. You feel you are being presented with the plainest of women at the plain jane ball on the planet of mediocre looking people. I do not believe the staff try their own food, and the chef certainly cant. The most praise out of the three main courses for three adults was a 'meh'....the worst was 'bleh'. So fix the food and you are back in the game, but for now - no way.

  • Diana C.

Came here while heading back from a camping trip with some friends and really enjoyed it. The food was pretty good, the views are what really make this place worth while though. Sitting out on the patio watching the wind surfers do their thing was fantastic. Service is good and beers are cold, what more can you wish for on a hot, sunny, Hood River afternoon?

  • Susitna B.

So great! I had the Sessions Dark with the Beer Cheese soup and it was excellent! The crackers with the soup were super yummy. The beer balanced it nicely. Dad had Chicken Pot Pie and it was good. It came with a green salad. The pot pie was good but the salad dressing was excellent! House made vinaigrette with roasted red peppers it was a delicate flavor without the vinegar taste. Mom had a Turkey sandwich. It was huge!

If you like gourmet food and great beer, this is the place. They are kid friendly and definitely adult friendly. They have a great sample tray with small shot glasses full of different beer, I believe it's 8-10 kinds. It's a little crowded, there's little space between tables. Not somewhere to go if you want a quiet meal. The table service is decent, they are quite busy all the time. I recommend the beer cheese soup (with a side of breadsticks). The cold sandwiches are pretty good, they have a great one with pesto. Food and beer is a little spendy, but I'd say that it's well worth it. Great local place, close to the theatre for a before or after meal.

Went here after Big Horse Brew Pub. This place is much better. Better service, equally good beer and although I didn't eat at Big Horse, the food here was awesome. Plus they advertise "pints" and you get that and more whereas the last place advertises "Imperial Pints" and its not even filled to the 16 oz line. I had the ESB which was great and the cheese burger with potato salad. The burger was juicy and perfect and although I was hesitant to try the potato salad since it seems like most places serve it kind of sweet, it was the only potato salad I've ever enjoyed more than my moms which says a lot because she makes it great. The view is awesome when you sit outside. It's perched up on a ledge and overlooks the gorge and river. If you want good food, good service and good beer, go here.

Coming back home to Montana from Portland, I stopped in Hood River to grab a bite to eat. I found the Full Sail Brew Pub and being a huge fan of micro brews, I had to check out the place! To sum up my visit..this place was bomb! Staff was great, good was amazing, and the BEER was mouth watering!! Every beer I tried had a smooth and rich flavor to it! Which made it that much enjoyable! Will deff be coming back for more tasty brew and good!

Amazing stroganoff here, and I didn't even have the beef. Will next time for sure. The brownie dessert is also amazing amazing. Music was amazing too and I can't think of any more adjectives because my pint of ESB was delicious too and I promise to be safe on the drive home.

On a brewery tour of Hood River, this is a great stop. I've never been a huge fan of their beer, but it's always solid. You won't get a bad beer here. In fact, on a day we hit every brewery in Hood, a barrel aged beer here was probably the best we had. The tour was short, and didn't really show you much, but it's cool that they offer it, and we even got free pint glasses at the end! I wasn't in the tap room long, but I'm told they have a pretty amazing view of the river when the weather is nice.

This was my first visit to Full Sail, we stopped at Hood River for lunch during a trip between Portland and the Tri-Cities. Overall, it was a good experience. My family and I sat out on the heated deck and enjoyed the view of the Columbia River. I had the salmon fish and chips, my wife had the Caesar salad, and my kids had cheeseburgers. The salmon fish and chips were above average and my wife liked whatever Caeser dressing they are using. The cheeseburgers were...cheeseburgers, nothing special. I would say the food is 3.5 stars, the views on the deck are 4 stars, but the service is on the inattentive side and the staff that we dealt with came across as snooty, which made me drop this review down to 3 stars. Also, you have to pay to park in this small town, it was cheap but annoying. If I'm in the area again, I will give it another try.

  • Gabrielle B.

Sat outside on the patio on a nice 70 degree day. The waitress was clearly busy and was not especially nice or attentive. I ordered the chef salad and a beer. The salad had a southwest Ranch dressing and seemed too spicey for my taste. Prices seem very high for pub food- I should have gotten a burger. Lastly, I overheard someone say it was happy hour, but I was definitely not given happy hour prices. I won't be coming back.

Best food and drinks in the Columbia Gorge! They have awesome beer and the best food. Servers are great! I spilled my beer in my food and they brought me back a fresh ate AND the little bit of beer that I spilled! Great environment! And did I mention the beautiful view of the Columbia River and kite boarders? All around 5 stars! Love this place everyone I come to town.

Came with my friend after a wonderful hike in the gorge. I had the DELICIOUS beer cheese soup. OMG. Amazing. Amanda had the Pork Loin Sandwich. Now this girl, she loves her sammies. Not only did she give her compliments to the chief, she declared it the BEST sandwich she has ever had. This coming from a world traveler from Australia home.

I am a carnivore. Yep. I am. But when lots of people raved about the portobello mushroom sandwich at the restaurant (in addition to the fellow yelpers), I listened! And boy did I ThanK my lucky stars. The arugula pesto cream cheese and the bell peppers were equally balanced. Not too rich. The Swiss cheese had the perfect flavor to go with this sandwich. Mmmmmmmmmm........deeeeeelicious. I had it with the fresh greens. Perfect. My friend had the classic cheeseburger but substituted the meat with chicken. Healthier option but just as tasty. Fries were crunchy but not overly done. We also had the peach and white chocolate bread pudding served with Tillamook vanilla ice cream. Yowser!!!!! It was deeelicious! !!! Don't leave without this. I recommend this over the other pub/brewery in the area. Better menu. Oh the Session. Premium lager is aweeeesome if u want light beer.

I come here every time I'm in town, and every time I am in town, it happens to be during their Happy Hour. Their Happy Hour is reasonably priced and delicious. Service is wonderful, atmosphere is great, and it has a brew tour that's free! Too awesome

My wife and I visited Full Sail last week. The experience was great start to finish. The service was top-notch, the beer is great and the menu was so interesting we had a hard time deciding on our meals. We both chose our meals and were more than satisfied. After lunch, we took a tour of the brewery and it was great. They are making great beer, treating their customers well, and incorporating some seriously sustainable practices into their process. Well done, Full Sail!

I loved it here. I was up in the area for work and I make it a point to get to Hood River and try everything there because it is such an awesome place. Full Sail lived up to the high standards of Hood River. I sat at the bar and had a couple of very tasty Berliner weisses. The bartender knew his stuff and when I mentioned woodruff syrup, he was pumped that I knew about it and brought out some of their in house made woodruff. It wasn't the usual neon green because that is apparently added to the commercial brands but they make theirs from dried up woodruff flowers. They also nailed the food here. I got a super scrumptious fish sandwich with some fresh greens on it. Go here!

We were visiting Portland on vacation and we planned a day trip out to Hood River with the goal being to make it to Full Sail Brew Pub. After a great day hiking and exploring the amazing scenery our meal and beers totally lived up to all expectations. The brew pub doesn't look like much from the outside when you arrive from the street, but soon you realize there is a great little deck that overlooks the river. It was a chilly night, but they had plenty of heat lamps outside to keep you warm. The beers are obviously good and they do tastings right at Full Sail. You basically order the left side of the beer list or the right side and you get 8 mini glasses set on a tray on top of a description of each. Awesome way to figure out what you like or to figure out that you like everything. The food was equally amazing. The salmon fish and chips was incredible - not greasy or over battered and so fresh. They also can accommodate gluten allergies as long as you talk to the server, but no separate menu.

Awesome choice in Hood River. The place was mobbed and it had a huge amount of seating so we knew right away it must be good. I'm not a beer drinker but I enjoyed the beer I had. We got the pretzel bread sticks to start and they were crack. I could have eaten 10 loaves as my meal. My wife and I both got the Full Sail Burger and were pleased. Would go back if I was in the area.

Made the drive from Portland to check it out. We didn't arrive at the right time to take the brewery tour and are sorry we missed it! The building is huge and they have a lot going on! The pub sort of overlooks the Columbia Gorge, you can see it from the patio along with the freeway. The food was really good and so was the beer!

The salmon fish and chips was excellent! They use wild salmon, and it tasted very fresh. I also had the fries, which tasted fresh. On top of this, I had the sampler for their local brews, which I enjoyed. If you can, ask to seat by the window so that you have a nice view of the Gorge. Only reason I took away a star is that the service could have been better. I was neglected while the table of 2 next to me had lots more attention.

One of my fave brewery and tasting room visit out of the many, many I've had. First, we had an absolutely gorgeous day to drive along the Columbia River Gorge, see the water falls and then find some beer. Must say, I didn't find the best beers in Portland, but Full Sail came through for me. I've had a few of their beers here in San Antonio, their session, IPA, amber, but they had a lot of nice beers you can't find elsewhere. I had a 16 oz. ESB, and then a cask-conditioned IPA which was hand pumped! Loved the tour, think our guide was named Erin. Love that this place is employee owned, a big reason I wanted to visit this place to be honest, tired of corporate businesses and how they act. Seemed liked folks enjoy working here, they take pride in what they do and want to share it with others. Erin told me the employees each get a free case of beer with each paycheck! Boom! Very clean, very orderly brewing operation, one of the best I've seen. Great tasting room, beautiful view of the River, nice, friendly staff, great beer, cool merchandise, neat art, just all the right ingredients. Oh yeah, they give you a free pint glass at the end of the tour, nice to see a spirit of generosity exists here. Nice way to cap off a great day!

Our timing was favorable (we arrived on a Monday afternoon in mid-April); we were seated promptly and we enjoyed our food and brew. Our server was attentive and pleasant. I enjoyed my burger and fries; my wife ordered something relatively healthy that looked like lawnmower clippings. I recommend the Amber on Nitro, a creamy ale.

  • Alison V.

This place has a great view and good food. The beer was great, and they have a suggested pairing list with the food. I split the pasta and portobello sandwich with fries. I definitely recommend the sandwich, it was delicious. Their amber beer was great too! Everyone in our party was satisfied.

I'm fully obsessed with visiting Hood River, and this is always a fun place to visit! The tasting room/pub is almost always busy, but the service is usually still polite and as prompt as possible. Plus, the food is delicious! And you can't beat the view of the Columbia River Gorge. Deck seating is nice in the warmer months as well. I've had the focaccia, the fries as an appetizer, the green salad, the Full Sail burger (with apple wood bacon added, of course) and the salmon fish and chips. And all have been delicious. Mmmm... now I want the burger. Seriously, GO!

  • Haroun K.

The tempeh burger is surprisingly good. The sandwich is mainly carried by the flavor of the smoked gouda, which somehow didn't arrive melted, but melted midway throughout eating. The aioli is ok, but you can probably do without it. The side salad is a handful of spring mix with a tomato and some vinaigrette - nothing too special. It is nice being able to order beer by the half-pint, since sometimes a pint is just too much. The stout I tried wasn't mind blowing, but went well with the burger. The weak point of the meal was service. We had 3 different servers, and their affects ranged from apathetic to hostile. Maybe it's the constant onslaught of beer tourists or something, but it's not a friendly environment. The patio seating is nice, however. When in Hood River, it's probably worth a try.

  • Monica G.

The beer here is solid. It's also really great to visit the brewery and have a nice list of seasonals available. The food is pretty good, nothing to write home about necessarily, but definitely above average with fresh ingredients and plenty of variety. Would have given it 4 stars, but the brewery tour put me up to 5. Have been many times and just recently took a tour. Brewery tours are usually just the same old thing, but this place is really unique and very interesting to learn about. The way they mash in with fine grist and use an innovative mash filter is so cool!

Awesome beer in a great location. I had the sampler with the lesser known beers (there are two sampler options), and it was delicious!

Came here for dinner with a pretty large group on a Saturday night. Understandably there was a bit of a wait but it wasn't that bad. Once seated we were waited on right away and ordered beers. I tried the Stout on Nitro and it was great, rich and creamy. We also split an order of the artichoke dip with pita bread that was really good and a big hit at the table. For my meal I ordered the beer battered salmon fish and chips but with a side salad instead of fries. They catered to this preference easily and the salad was fresh and tasty with a great dressing. The salmon were plentiful and crispy without being overly battered or two greasy. I really enjoyed them with the tarter sauce as well. I did try some of the fries at the table and they were also very good. Others at the table got sandwiches: steak sandwich, portabella sandwich, oyster poboy, and turkey sandwich. Everyone liked their selection and left happy. I would come back when in town again!

On a sunny day, their deck is the perfect spot to watch kitesurfers and windsurfers on the Columbia River while enjoying a pint and good pub grub! We waited a little longer to get a table on the deck and it was worth the wait. The deck is shaded with sails and we were sat at a bar table facing the Columbia River. Despite the hot day there was a nice little breeze. Here's what we ordered: Tempeh Veggie Burgers (made next door by Turtle Island Foods). I had it in a "Full Sail Style" (topped with smoked gouda cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato and smoked pepper aioli) with fries and hubby opted for "Classic Style" (served with cheddar, swiss or bleu cheese and topped with lettuce, tomato, onions and mayo) with potato salad. Both were awesome and we loved the potato salad. Beers: Chris's Summer Delight Berliner Weisse with optional raspberry syrup - so good!! Session Premium Lager - refreshing with a light taste of lemon Session Black Lager - nice dark flavor without being heavy. Light smokiness. 2011 Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout - Bliss but strong. Like a cold-hot chocolate with strong Bourbon nose. Service was great and the atmosphere friendly and laid back. Liked the decor. This is the place to be in the summer.

The wife and I stayed in Hood River for a little weekend getaway. While we had a great time hitting up all the wine tasting rooms. And relaxing at the pool. One of my favorite things to go was have dinner at the Full Sail Brewery. Great beer! Great pub food! And great overall vibe to this place :)

We had a pretty decent dinner here tonight, and really liked the ambiance of Full Sail. At about 5:30pm we walked in to a pretty packed restaurant, but were seated at a table on the deck with a front and center view of thev Columbia, which included sailboats and wind surfers - picturesque and perfect. It was a refreshing surprise to be seated at a great view table so quickly. My husband ordered two beers - a stout and a pilsner, and regarded them both as pretty good. He also ordered their beer cheese soup, but we weren't very fond of it. It really reminded us of light, runny queso without any tortilla chips to dip in it. It was odd at best. My Reuben was fantastic - stacked high with sauerkraut, meat and delicious cheese with just the right amount of dressing. The bread was good, but a bit greasy. If you're looking for a really good, sloppy sandwich, this is it! My husband ordered the steak sandwich and thought it was pretty good, but the aujus that came with it was unfortunately very oily and not that great. His side salad was very fresh with a zingy vinaigrette that he enjoyed. The service we received was mainly on point - a little slow at times but definitely solid, friendly, and mainly prompt. We felt really comfortable at Full Sail - it was the perfect place to spend a summer dinner and watch the sun set over the river. And...at $40 for two people including drinks, it was just right. Thank you to my fellow Yelpers for guiding me towards this place...we were impressed!

Three words for you: The Taster Tray Seven 4oz brews are the perfect accompaniment to, well, pretty much anything. When looking at the description of the tasters, and seeing two that I probably wouldn't enjoy, I asked the server if I could swap them out for two others instead; she happily obliged. The beers were all good, but nothing stood out as really great. I paired my taster tray with their Hummus Plate, and enjoyed it immensely. To be honest, the hummus, although fine, was my least favorite part of the hummus plate--- the artichokes, feta, et al, served with it, out shined the hummus itself. A nice view of the river could be seen from most of the tables; unfortunately one could see the freeway as well. They have both indoor tables and a large outdoor patio. If you are in the mood for a taster set and a good appetizer, I'd totally recommend this place. But, if you only have time for one brewery in Hood River, I'd hit Double Mountain instead.

We just finished water rafting and needed some good beer and carbs. We have a group of 8, so its hard to find a table, and was turned away by Double Mountain brewery. Full Sail was very accommodating, and only give us 20 minute wait. We got the best seating in the house outside with an awesome view of the Columbia River. The beer was awesome, and the food came quickly. The check was easily divided among the group of 8, and that's always a plus when it comes to service. Definitely dropping by again.

Was not expecting this place to be so good. It looks like a chain or tourist trap but it is not. I had the fish sandwich and also had the sail burger. I was that good. Enjoyed it immensely. The staff is pretty knowledgeable about the beers. Larger all the way. Great views

Yes, it's my first Yelp review after a few years. That's just how deserving this place was of a write-up. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I think I finally discovered the one beer I'd ship home, if I couldn't find it in Seattle! We wound up going to Full Sail for a very late lunch after a hike in the Gorge. Got very lucky with just a 10 minute wait and scored a table in a corner right by a window. What I absolutely loved was how the beer pairings they had for the food were SPOT ON. I had the pork loin sandwich with the Sessions Black . My husband couldn't believe how quickly I polished off the food AND how rapidly I downed that pint. He usually winds up drinking the rest of my beer wherever we go. But not this one -- oh no. Yummeh in my tummeh. Back in Seattle now, and still not quite over that experience. Full Sail Ahead!

Good food. My family spent a few days on mt hood and wanted to stop for a good meal. It was between full sail and the other place on the corner. I choose full sail. I asked to sit outside and other family members complained that it was too hot so we came inside. Server was good and the food came out fast. Most of us got hamburgers which were very good. My son got the salmon chips and husband got the brisket. All very tasty. Great place to know about on our road trips through hood river.

The humus platter was one of the best I've ever had. It was good size for the price and everything on it was fresh and well prepared. I'd go back just for that. My friend and I each ordered a beer sampler (7 - 4oz tastes). They have tow different samplers and our waitress recommended that we buy one of each and share, so we could each taste 14 different beers. This did not work out so well and I'd recommend against it. Each sampler plate is arranged by IBUs, from least to most. I'm sure each sampler works well this way, but crossing from my sampler to my friend's proved to be too much of a jolt between the two trays. RECOMMENDATION: buy your own sampler and stick to it. The food and service were very good. I'd certainly go back.

We arrived 230 on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I wait time was to be 15 minutes but was no greater than 10. Our seats were on the outdoor deck with a lovely view of the river. I've attached a picture. Not being a real beer connoisseur, I didn't know quite what I want. Our server,Tina, was really helpful and served me a half pint Session beer. I found it quite tasty and just enough. My sweetheart ordered the Turkey sandwich and I ordered the full sail burger. We asked that they be cut in half so we could each share. Sandwich was already cut in half and the burger was served with a large steak knife. The Full Sail burger has caramelized onions and Gouda. I found that to be an interesting combination and absolutely love the flavor of it. The meet was really nicely flavored as well. The bun was soft and easy to chew. The turkey sandwich was also quite tasty. It was great to share a meal half and half like that. We shall return!

Honestly not at all impressed the food might be good in theory but mine simply wasn't more than a disappointment. So greasy my plate was full of it and couldn't even enjoy the fries since they are so soggy. I had to ask for more water every time I was out which was twice but each person at the table had to ask instead of filling everyone up. My burger was soggy and the waitress never asked how I wanted it, so it came out very pick, so much it was concerning but no effort to address it was made. She managed the typical spend more effect at the end but that was it. Nothing was welcoming or encouraging to return. Only a couple bothered to finish out of 7 people it was that bad. VERY DISAPPOINTING!! Especially considering price. It looks like Sundays are the worst.

Full Sail isn't my favorite brewery but their beer offerings here are pretty good. I had the 26, a 26th anniversary beer that was a blend of styles. The beer was significantly tastier than their normal rotation. I also opted for a taster of the bourbon barrel aged IPA, which was fabulous. We shared the tempeh burger and it was excellent, probably one of the best veggie burgers I've had in a long time. The smoked gouda, caramelized onions and roasted pepper aioli sung on our tongues. Service was quick and attentive. Go for the veggie burger (with local Tofurkey tempeh patty) and stay for some beers.

Full Sail, I'm sorry. I think I never fully appreciated you. Happened to be in Hood River today and ducked into Full Sail for a free tour of the brewery, and it was awesome. I've been on many a brewery tour before, beginning in my hometown of Golden, CO, and I gotta say, I've never learned so much about beer and brewing in 40 minutes, plus some Oregon, Portland, and Hood River history. It's a pretty cool company. They moved into a fruit-cocktail cannery that had been abandoned for 15 years back in 1987, and while they started out small, they've grown rapidly since and even though they're only distributed in 22 states, have become a major name in beer internationally. Employee-owned since 1999, Full Sail is also fully committed to environmentally-responsible business practices, from shipping off all organic waste to feed cows in Tillamook to turning waste water from washing kegs into ethanol for fuel. Aside from one very specific type of malt from Europe, everything Full Sail uses is found and produced within about a 100-mile radius. That's pretty cool. I had no idea that nearly all of the world's hops come from the Yakima Valley and Gorge areas. PacNo, represent! The tour itself was a riot, our guide was like a hippie version of Bill Brasky, unseen SNL character of yesteryear. He was super funny, very informative, engaging, and down to earth. For producing as much beer as they do, and even while standing amongst 80 million bajillion gallon mash tuns, it still feels like a small business. He explained that every employee on the brewing side is trained to do everyone's job, and that they rotate the boring stuff, like Laverne and Shirley-style shifts of checking bottle labels. After the tour, you can grab a seat in the restaurant side, some grub, and one of many available brews on tap or bottle, including rotating brewer's specials (available only on-site). I've always enjoyed their Session, Amber, and IPA but check with 'em for other rarer options. Seemed to be quite a wait for seats on a Saturday, but hosts were spot-on checking in with waiting patrons, chatting about the product, to make that wait seem less. Sounds like they have expansions planned for the next couple of years, including taking over the Da Kine factory spot next door. Between the Hood River factory and the Portland brew spot, Full Sail's got it's place amongst the many fine Oregon breweries and I'd recommend this fun, free, all-ages tour to anyone.

Had a Session Black and a Reuben sandwich. The Session was great. The sandwich was only OK. I think the main problem was that the pastrami wasn't sliced very thin, in fact it was super thick. The pastrami wasn't that tender, so when you bit the sandwich you couldn't bite through the thick slices and you just pulled all of the meat out of the sandwich or had to really work at it to get through there. Kind of rubbery with the thick slices and it made a big mess. So, everything else about the Reuben was pretty good, didn't really see much kraut, but the bread was good, the dressing tasty, however, the meat makes the sammich. To their credit, they were super busy, and maybe just cutting corners? Dunno, but it would be a simple fix to get them back into four star land.

Good view and nice space, but I was generally put off by the service. The food was just ok, and the waitstaff wasn't all that friendly. Didn't pay much heed to the status of our drinks, and treated us with scowls and borderline rude retorts and passive aggressive behavior (though I will say, she always said them with a seemingly forced chipper tone). For example, at one point, the waitress brought waters while we were having a conversation, and when she put the last glass down mumbled "Oh, so nobody says thank you?" I would recommend trying one of the many other (cool and smaller) pubs and brewpubs that can be found just steps away. Or grabbing a six or twelve pack of your favorite full sail and heading home. I won't be returning.

I love me some Sessions brew so when the chance came to hit one more brew pub before NYE dinner, I was all in. Full Sail is employee owned but it's certainly the big boy in these parts. That's not a knock, just a fact that makes them somewhat different. Get a tour if you're so inclined or saddle up to the bar, as we did, for a cold one. The beer was as expected, good and the service was a tad less than that. I kinda expected a bit more from the bar keep but he was more interested in the bowl game on the giant TVs all around the pub. Oh well, his lost....

Nothing beats drinking a nice beer while staring out the window at a beautiful gorge and snow covered mountains. This was my experience at Full Sail. I tried the reserve tasting which I enjoyed most of the beers, there were 7 total. I ordered a salad so I feel like I can't really talk about the food because of this. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I would love to go back and try the salmon fish and chips. Missed the free tour but they do it daily on the hour in the afternoon.

Full Sail Brewing Company is one my favourite microbrews. In fact, there's a 6-pack of IPA in my refrigerator right now. I'm also a big fan of the Amber and Wassail (Holiday) Ales. It was founded in 1987 and was the first commercially successful craft brewery to bottle beer in the Pacific Northwest for retail sale, and one of Oregon's early microbreweries. My son and I wandered into Hood River recently and when the Hops Fest (across the street) was in full swing. I don't know why I didn't put 2 and 2 together, but it was only after lunch (at the Big Horse Brew Pub) and when we were heading out of town, that I realized my missed opportunity. However, I did manage to wander in, buy some beer (a nice Belgian blend) and a named souvenir, and promise myself that I would return for a tour and a meal at the Pub.

We stopped here for lunch on the recommendation of a local while out exploring the river. We were so happy we did. We both had the Full Sail burger. It was really really good. The meat patty tasted like it was good quality. The flavors of the gouda, aoili, onions and (of course we had to have) bacon, gave it a strong, scrumptious, but well-balanced and not overpowering burger. We were well satisfied with our meal. Great burgers coupled with a table on the balcony so that we could eat while looking out at the river on a beautiful day - yeah, we were happy. Boyfriend's input on the beer - generally good. The sour beer was too sour though. We would definitely recommend a stop here.

Never been in the area before and after looking at other locations around town, we were no impressed. Took a look on yelp and found the Full Sail Brewery. Let me tell you, the food was excellent and the service was good. Overlooking the river (not on the river) you get a nice view. We ordered each a dish the Full Sail burger and the fish and chips... The fish is salmon! Both did not disappoint, the burger was full of flavor and with Gouda cheese for the extra twist of favors. The salmon fish and chips was very tasty and very moist inside. The pickled zucchini surprised us both and was delicious. Add to the food the home brew and you are in heaven. If I am ever back in the area this is my stop for a meal. All we could say was, yum!

One of my absolute highlights in the #Oregon visit. Splendid tour of a fully-functioning brewery with a 5-star tour guide. Can't wait to visit again and I would recommend to anyone in the area. 2 more stars for the Full Sail Brewery once they complete their expansion--hopefully this will include more seating for people looking to enjoy a beer. The only space available seems to be dedicated to the consumption of burgers, not beer :(

Perfect food for a good day. I had the stout with fish and chips--probably the beer was too strong for the cod, but I loved it. The food was hot, and we stayed warm on the deck with a heating lamp nearby. My son had the cheese burger, which he loved (and that's not always the case). My husband had the thin-sliced steak sandwich, which he devoured. Next time I would order the beer flight, just to know a bit more about their beers. This is our third visit, and like the previous times, we've been really satisfied with the service, the menu, and the food.

Finally made my way to Hood River to visit the source of Full Sail goodness. This was already one of my favorite breweries based on the beers you can get in bottles and on tap elsewhere, but after trying the small batch options that are only available in the tasting room it might have edged it's way to the top spot! The atmosphere is good--not overdone and a great view. The beers are fantastic. The food was...alright. Good enough to absorb your beverages, probably not good enough to stand alone as a meal. I found the service (at the bar) to be very quick, the bartenders both friendly and very knowledgeable. I will be sure to visit in another season to take the tour and see what new treats they have on tap.

Came in for a snack and a round of drinks--the Amber and one of the rotating cask ales. Both brews were good, which my husband and I sipped while discussing the basics of cask ale and nibbling on the scrumptious fries dipped in ketchup and a zingy tartar sauce. Would definitely return to try a meal sometime!

This is a great stop when you are heading east out of town, west on your way home or looking for a day trip to Hood River. If you are coming out, start by timing it right to take the tour. They really know their beer. You get to learn, see and smell what they do. After seeing it made, go in to the pub and drink the beer. I love their Amber as well as their LTD's. The food is really good too. I enjoy the Ruben sandwich. A must visit in the Gorge.

Not only did they have great beer, but the food was excellent! Had a hummus platter (YUM) and a Turkey Sandwich. Normally, carved turkey is pretty dry and requires a lot of condiments to bring it back to life. I was so impressed with how moist and flavorful the carved turkey was. It was topped with an avocado lime spread and spicy mayo. As for the beer, they etch a tiny hole in the bottom of their glasses to maintain a steady flow of replenishing foam bubbles. I'd never seen that before but definitely appreciated the knowledge and lesson. Also, we snagged a great seat on their outdoor patio area. It's on a hill overlooking the river with truly gorgeous views. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better seat! Full steam ahead, Full Sail!

My three words to describe Full Sail are: cool, hip, yes. The beer cheese soup is delicious. I love stopping here for a beer and a meal when road tripping with from Oregon to Idaho. (Just make sure the one who's driving isn't partaking in the awesomeness of the tasty brews.) No matter where you sit in the pub, you can see a beautiful view of the Columbia River Gorge through the large windows. This is seriously one of my favorite breweries in Oregon. I'm still waiting to go on a brewery tour but that requires a little bit of planning on my part. Stop in. Eat soup. Order a salad. Taste the beer. It's definitely worth the Hood River detour.

Delicious beer! Took the brewery tour which was fun (and free). Had a great time. Only down side to full sail is their restaurant. This place really needs a space for those patrons who want to grab a drink but not a full meal. After our tour ended we tried to see if we could just sneak a beer and go. The wait was 30 minutes. Instead we ran to the store, bought some full sail, and sat on our patio at home and enjoyed a nice afternoon. A quick note to the wait staff. If a customer asks if its possible to just get a beer at the bar it doesn't mean they are asking for free beer. Got a very snippy response from a hostess who yelled at us asking "why does everything think we give out free beer?" FYI we wanted to buy a beer and give you money (and a tip) for your beer, we just didn't want to eat lunch at your restaurant. I understand there are probably a lot of people who think they give out free beer, but if you want to b*tch about customers you should do that with the other staff and not to your customers directly.

After a day at Catherine Creek trail, just east of White Salmon, WA, my boyfriend Mike and I saw the Full Sail Brewery from I-84. He really likes some of their beers and we wanted to take the tour. We didn't make it to the brewery until 3:55pm and we thought we were going to miss the tour but we stopped in anyways to see what they had to offer. Much to our pleasant surprise, we made it just in time. It lasts about 30 minutes and is very informative. Our tour guide (Randy, I think his name was) was energetic, knowledgeable and friendly. As other Yelpers have said, the tour is completely free and comes with a fantastic Full Sail Pint glass. It was wonderful to hear that they are committed to an excellent product and getting the most out of their ingredients and materials. After the tour (which followed our three hour hike), we realized we were thirsty and also very hungry. It wasn't our original plan to dine there but we rolled with it. Mike enjoyed his Session Lager and we ordered a few menu items. We shared an artichoke dip, he got a bacon burger and I got the mushroom sandwich. I'll admit, the food was slightly overpriced with the artichoke dip and my sandwich for $11. The portions just weren't quite what we paid for. However, Mike said his burger was awesome. It was cheaper than mine and seemed bigger. I truly think if you want to get what you pay for here in terms of the menu items, your best bet is to get a good beer (or several) and a burger. We ended up having all the sides and the green salad and fries are pretty decent but the potato salad was on the bland side. Atmosphere here was great. I loved the artwork in the hallway and the awesome view overlooking the Columbia River from the huge windows on the far wall. It was very busy, but I always look past that as a good thing. It seemed well-spaced enough to accommodate all the patrons without making one feel claustrophobic! The service was quick and accurate. Mike ordered his burger medium rare and that's how it came out. He really liked the creative blend of ingredients accompanying the natural beef! Oh and a quick tip: as far as the parking goes, there is street spots but as others have said it is metered. While they will exchange coins for bills at the bar, the person at the till told me that parking in the parking lot is free. So, if you don't want to pay (because you have to pay to park Monday - Saturday) remember the parking lot across from the brewery is free! They treat their employees very well here because it is employee owned so be prepared to meet staff who obviously love their job (or so it was with our experience!)

Nothing bad, just nothing to love here for me.... We ended up here for three important reasons. The first was we were hungry after a morning's hike. The second two were that the other two brewpubs I would have preferred to visit were closed. Hence, we arrived. For a huge building, the food area is pretty small. Standard pub menu: my pulled pork BBQ sandwich was fine (with a nice spicy coleslaw), and my man pronounced his falafel gyro okay. But I just can't give even three stars to Full Sail because of their beer. It's all...okay. Nothing bad, nothing to love, just very middle of the road. I tried their CDA (Cascadian Dark Ale, what we often see around here advertised as a Black IPA). Meh. Not much hoppy character nor malt. My man tried their barlewine, the Old Boardhead. We've had it before at festivals and never loved it, but it was the second-most attractive thing on the menu. If no other brewery is open and you want a local beer, or if you're with people who like merchandise and brewery tours (or you want a great view of the river), Full Sail should do. But if you have other options, you might want to exercise them. Alternatively, if you do like beers that are very gentle and not overly robust for their respective types, Full Sail would also do for you. Just not for me....

I want to give Full Sail Brewery Tasting Room & Pub 4, if not 5, stars, but service was horrible. The Viking and I stopped by to grab dinner after some apple-picking in Parkdale. Food was great; I ordered the steak sandwich and he ordered the burger. Food was fresh; fries were very tasty. But, after our food was served, it appeared our waitress went MIA. Figured with the crowd and her disappearance, there may have been a shift change, but we watched as others interacted with their respective waitress. Meanwhile, the Viking's beer glass was empty and he wanted another; I was on to water at that point and contemplating another root beer. We waited and flagged a waitress down... By the time we received attention, the Viking wanted to leave, as we had plenty of Full Sail's Session waiting at home. Got the check and, again, while waiting to pay, more time ticked-off the clock. We had to tell another waitress - and we did so politely, we wanted to pay and were ready to leave. I'll definitely go back; food was tasty; beer was great; and the view stupendous. Just hope the next time service is better; otherwise, there will be no third visit.

We showed up conveniently right before the 3:00 PM tour. After trying a sampler of the imperial, we ended up with a private tour with one of the brewers. It's pretty cool that everyone takes turn giving tours - our guide was pretty clearly really passionate about her work. This place seems like it's doing real well. Not to mention the free glasses at the conclusion of the tour! Afterwards, we tried a sampler ($7 for 7 4oz. tastes? more than reasonable...) + some barleywine. Got some garlic fries to go with that. The fries were good, and made even better with all of the BEER. There wasn't really a beer I didn't like, although my favorite was the imperial we'd had before the tour. Service was really nice - we had like three people taking care of us in an organized way. This place is absolutely worth a stop if you're in Hood River. Oh, and the six packs they sell to take home with you...bar-gain!

I love this brewery. Every time I pass through Hood River (which is pretty much monthly) I strategically plan my timing so that it coincides with mealtime. This gives me the perfect excuse to pull off the freeway and stop in for a beer and bite to eat. I love their Full Sail burger and have paired it with every thing from their Amber to their IPA and Imperial Stout. The pulled pork sand which is good too and I've had the baby back ribs as well. I wouldn't say the ribs were anything to call home about but pretty much everything on the menu is delicious and I'm really there for the beer. The unbelievable view of the Columbia River is pretty breathtaking as well. Try to get a table right in front of the enormous windows because it's a great viewpoint, regardless of the weather.

Loved the beer flight, loved the Fish Sandwich (salmon)! Great view of the river. I think I would hang out here quite often if it was a local joint. For the beers, they were crisp and fresh. I could definitely enjoy them often. I did think they lacked a complexity that other microbreweries are creating. So I think there are better beers out there. But there is nothing wrong with their ales; and sometimes a crisp, clean brew is what the taste buds want!

I like Full Sail beer. The general selection doesn't include the most mind blowing brews in the North West, but they're consistently decent--and I enjoy just about everything that comes off the line. The pub food is (Danger: watch for over-used buzz words) standard fare with a couple of notably good items. The fries are 10 ounces of crispy goodness, and I have the thighs to prove it. Anything good that could be said about the pub is 100% over-ruled by the awesome ineptness of the waitstaff. Bartenders aside--who happen to be quite charming--the women who work the floor are the snobbiest, most inattentive, and grossly over glorified group of waitrons I've ever come across. And it's not as though I haven't worked a boat-load of food service jobs. My advice? Go on the tour, buy a case, then go to Double Mountain for some tasty pizza and a more jovial atmosphere.

We stopped here during our road trip and had a fantastic lunch (hubby got the fried salmon and I had a wonderful steak sandwich) and a tour of the brewery pretty much all to ourselves. The beer was pretty good, too ;P It was a nice place to stop and stretch our legs and get energized for the next part of our trip.

It is not a trip to Hood River without stopping here. I have coming up to the gorge since the late 80's, and I have watched this brewery just get better and better. This trip was no exception. The in-house drafts are so damn good, no matter which one you get they go down so easy!! I am addicted to the pulled pork sandwich, ate many other things but that sandwich is as addictive as the wind sports on this river! The patio view overlooking the river is always a great spot to end the day.

Do the Tour. Do the Tour. Do the Dew......whoops, I mean Tour. My wife and I have now been to Portland twice. The first time out we stumbled onto (not into) Full Sail on a quick tourist trip away from Downtown Portland. We fell in love. And so this time around, we made sure to schedule a day to dedicate out in Hood River so we could enjoy our time at Full Sail Brewery. We did the brewery tour. Which was a lot of fun. Everything is done right there on site. And they will field all the stupid questions you throw at them. At the end of tour you get a couple special surprises to help you enjoy the beer as you head back up to the Tasting Room. The Tasting Room. I'm not a big beer drinker. I've only just recently gotten into drinking beer. And I still don't quite have the taste for it. But everything I've tried at Full Sail I have enjoyed. From Barleywine's to IPA's and from Stout's to Nitro Ale's, I've tried them all and generally I have enjoyed each glass. And nothing quite rounds out the brewery experience without some good old fashion pub food. Full Sail does a great job of having an eclectic menu with plenty of fried (and some slightly healthier) delights to satisfy everyone. You can bet that we'll be back to Full Sail.

Good food, great staff, wonderful location, and decent beers that are limited to the brewhouse only. I had been purchasing Full Sail brews for a while now at nearby Trader Joes, and even after agreeing to take a spontaneous trip to Washington/Oregon, I never suspected that I would set foot at the Full Sail brewery. We were making our way to Mt. Hood when we decided to stop by Hood River and grab a quick bite to eat. I instantly saw the brew house and decided that we should go there. We went there and I was quite surprised by there reasonable offerings, decent prices, and of course, their extensive selection of beers. I had their tempeh burger with fries and one of their special beers of the month. The burger had a tempeh patty made by a neighboring restaurant, which frankly, tasted like fermented tofu and was far too forward in that flavor, but the rest of the "Full Sail style" burger was fresh and had a great balance of favors. Their brew house only beer was flavorless and too wheaty, and I think I should have gotten one of the beers that gets to go on the shelves back home instead, but I felt adventurous. This place was above decent in most respects and definitely go on a tour either before or after you eat!

Great place to grab a beer and relax after a day in the gorge!

Really fun place to go, I'd especially suggest taking the free tours that usually conduct at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm or 4pm. Not to mention that after the tour our lovely hostess/tour guide, Jessica, gave us free Full Sail Glass Cups and s*** ton of stickers with a bottle opener. :D Food is equally as good, as well as the beer. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Pasta with a mini 4oz serving of the Amber. YES I SAID 4oz. They actually serve beer that small, which is really convenient for those that want more variety than just one. The smoked salmon was especially smokey and it's nice that the menu gives pairings as well. But I gotta vouch for the Amber. It was especially delicious :)

This is a cool place. We pulled up into the parking lot across the street, which is free on Sundays and proceeded on in. When you are walking in, you can see parts of the brewery, which is interesting. I may have to go for a tour some time. We got menus and took a seat by the window. The view was nice and we looked out on the Columbia River. The dining room is small and not too many tables. We were in there around noon and all of a sudden many families came in with their very tiny children. I don't normally think of a brewery as a place you take children but as I later learned there aren't many places open on Sundays for the lunch crowd in Hood River. The service was good and I admired the fact with the crowds that there were able to provide such quality service. They have a great selection of burgers and a few other items. I had the yakasoba noodles with chicken and vegetables. This was very tasty. I definitely want to go back and try the burgers. A burger and a beer you can't really beat that. They also have a great looking deck for the summer time. I'd like to check that out in the future as well. I'll be back.

I was lucky enough to go on the brewery tour, and I sure was thirsty after that. I love the aura that the employees have, most of them are owners in the company. But the fundamental is that Full Sail does good beer.

Amazing beer. Session black is my favorite, but they are all great. View from the deck is amazing, great for parties. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food is delicious. Environment is relaxed and fun. Weekends, might want to make a reservation, lots of visitors. We will be going back.

I have had Full Sail IPA and Full Sail Amber for some time now. So, when we were in Hood River, it was a must to stop in and see what the 47 are up to. The Pub is very nice and has windows all along the backside of the restaurant which offer great views of the Columbia River Gorge. The entrance was also pretty cool with a kite and sailboard sail hanging in the hallway. We ended up drinking Session and Session black to quench our thirsts. Plus, Session is not available in our area. Very smooth. We also ordered a Reuben sandwich which was excellent. In fact, best I have had. Slow roasted beef brisket topped with Session-cured bacon and apple sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and a zesty Russian dressing. $13. They also have a great selection of T-Shirts and other souvenirs.

I'd give 3.5 for friendly service & great view. Not too crazy@the beer or the food, but that's just my own taste.

A trip to the Columbia River Gorge is always special and a stop at Full Sail Brewery will make your journey even more special. The Brew Pub is located inside of the brewery. This delightful pub has blossomed into a very respectable eating establishment. Full Sail Brew Pub has actually taken on the personality of the brewery: informal, laid back, efficient, and super clean. The setting for this pub couldn't be better. It's a very comfortable place with large windows overlooking the Columbia River. The windsurfers really put on a show for you as you enjoy your meal. The appetizers here are called "shared plates." That's exactly what they are. The pub offers small samples of the various Full Sail brews on tap. Sharing a hummus plate with your buddy as you sample some of Full Sail's delicious brews is a high beyond comparison. The service at Full Sail Brew Pub is very friendly and efficient. The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and the brews. Speaking of the menu, it ranges form chicken yakisoba to fish tacos. They even offer a garden burger. Many items on the menu use Full Sail beer as an ingredient like the fish and chips, the baby back ribs, and the pulled pork. Full Sail Brew Pub serves Oregon's own excellent Zenners sausage for their grilled bratwurst and their pasta pomodoro. A delicious meal at Full Sail Brew Pub washed down by a Full Sail Beer as you gaze across the Columbia River will make you glad to be alive!

Great patio in Hood River!! A nice view of the river and surfers on the river. Great hummus platter with some good brew. I give it 4 stars only because plates were dirty when they came to the table. I know the place is busy, and they could pay a bit more attention to details. Staff were great replacing the dirtied dish ware though.

It's hard for me to pick anything I like MOST about Hood River since it is such a wonderful place, but Full Sail might be it. Summertime brews and eats on the patio can't be beat. The breeze, the awesome view of the gorge, great beers, and (OMG) salmon fish and chips - what else does one need? Service here is always friendly and quick. The hummus plate is good for sharing or something lighter. Fish sandwich and caprese sandwich are great too. I love beer, but I'm no hop-head and I appreciate a craft brewery that has options other than triple IPAs. Full Sail, I can't wait to visit you again!

  • Kate M.

I like this place, but I don't LOVE this place. When I'm starving the food is pretty good but other than that, it's just 'meh'. The mac n cheese is always bland and it's hard to hear over the TVs sometimes. The view is nice, you have a nice view of the HRD factory on the water! A fine Oregon establishment in itself. The place is usually full and often times there's a wait. I wouldn't come here with a large group. I've never taken a tour of the brewery, maybe that'd sway my vote. But, for having boring mac n cheese, knocks them down a star. It's hard to get that wrong in my book!

    (3)
  • Jenna V.

This might be closer to a 3.75 star! I just can't quite give them a 4 in comparison to some of my other 4 star favorites. (That being said, I think 3 is very easy to recommend to someone and 3 stars are often some of my regular joints!) We had been leery to try this spot for lunch because reviews have been mixed, at best. However, a local woman we're friendly with said they'd changed fairly recently and were "better" now. As our first lunch choice was closed, we popped in here for a bite. We didn't have to wait too long, which is surprising based on the diminutive size of the dining area! I'd hate to hit this place on a Saturday night - the wait would be torture. Sunday at 2pm was fine, though. :) The view is pretty awesome - there's just no topping a view of the Gorge! The staff was great. The beer and cheese soup didn't blow anyone's minds, and the fries were average - BUT my grilled turkey and brie sandwich? I'm still thinking about driving out to Hood River from Portland this weekend to have another one. I'm pretty picky when it comes to grilled sandwiches - but this was the sort of perfect, deep golden brown I aim for at home, and the cheese was melty and funky, the turkey was great, it wasn't too salty or heavy - just a killer. effing. sandwich. I REALLY liked my sandwich, so did the bf. His salad was fantastic as well - and 5 stars for local pears. Incredible. I also had a glass of a limited batch bourbon barrel aged imperial porter - which pretty much blew my mind. If they still have some your next visit, I cannot say enough good things about it. YUM.

We come back here for their upscale bar food and elevated Columbia River view from the outdoor deck. Loved the fish and chips.

I've been to Full Sail Brewery a few times now- it seems we always end up there when out in the gorge. Now, the beer is the main draw and the whole reason to go. They always have the Full Sail standards on tap along with a few seasonal offerings. Be sure to check out the brewer's special beers. They let the brewers put together a few batches and the one that is deemed the best is sold at the pub and money from the sale of the beer goes to a charity of the brewer's selection. You can get a sampler plate with samples of all the beers they have on tap, but I would advise sharing. Even though the cups are small, there are at least half a dozen of them so it adds up. The food is pretty basic, but it's good and will certainly soak up the beer. The burgers and sandwiches are probably the best of their food offerings. There is a random asian noodle dish on the menu, but I don't know anyone that has tried it. Stick to the basics and the beer and you can't go wrong.

  • Kristina M.

This place was fantastic. The view of the river alone is almost worth it but the food and brews were tops. My boyfriend and I split the steak sandwich and salmon fish and chips so that we got a little of everything. I was impressed with the steak sandwich but I was a little blown away by the salmon. I'm not a big fan of salmon in general but this was worth going back for.

    (4)
  • Kia K.

The Fish (Salmon) sandwich is the best I've had! Highly recommend it. The IPA is a great pairing. One of my favorite meals in a long time!

  • Joe D.

We always wanted to try the pub here. The beer is not bad it is just bland to me. The other breweries in the area have the edge. Lots of people here.... So I will let them have it and I will go to the smaller brewpubs.

    (2)
  • Dave S.

Great food, great service, and good beer! They also have a short 25 minute tour that I enjoyed.

    (5)
  • T C.

I'm not a huge fan of the beer here (blasphemy I know!) but I love their consistency and their setting/view. The service is always pretty good even when it's busy. They do a great job with crowd control and honest wait times. Their food is wonderful and worth the wait. They offer vegetarian options and vegan as well (which actually taste good!). If you are lucky to be there when it's sunny, sit outside on the back deck and watch the river, even if it's chilly the heat lamps help! (And it's quieter).

Pretty views of Columbia River and tasty (and super hearty) pub food. Have a diet? Check it at the door. The (salmon!) fish and chips is worth every ounce added to your thighs. Hey, at least salmon has "good" fat, right?

Full Sail just might be the gem of Hood River. I went here for the complimentary brewery tour and then stayed to enjoy several beers. The tour was wonderful. It was about an hour long and very informative. I also enjoyed the enthusiasm the tour guide had even though he had to lead a tour on his Friday off. I liked that during the tour we got to either smell or taste some the ingredients. Moreover, even though the tour was free, we each received a Full Sail logo pint glass. Although I had planned to go running after the tour I found myself running for the bar where I enjoyed one beer after another. The had their typical beers, some seasonal beers and even a cask beer. Service at the bar was hospitable just as it was on the tour. After a sufficient amount of beer I headed back to my hotel room to get ready for a wedding but I'm pretty sure I could have sat there for at least a few more hours.

Didn't get a chance to eat or even drink while there, but I already know I enjoy their beer. I did however get to take the brewery tour. Our tour guide was great. I really enjoyed it and felt like I learned a lot.

This employee-owned mainstay of Oregon brewing has long been one of our favourites. Great scenery, excellent beer, informative staff ... what's not to love?

I honestly didn't think the food was going to live up to the quality of beer but I was wrong. Perfect gyro, perfect fries, and perfect beer. Great views of the gorge top off the experience. This place is a must stop if you are in the hood river area.

Full Sail's beer is some of the best around, and their food isn't bad either. We stopped in for lunch this past weekend and sat on the lovely back porch, surrounded by big towers full of soon-to-be-beer in various stages of the brewing process and (sort-of) overlooking the river. We were lucky enough to catch most of their seasonal wet-hopped beers, all of which were quite tasty. I recommend sharing a sampler of the regular beers and a sampler of whatever seasonals they happen to have available and go from there. For food, the fish sandwich is awesome (with fries, of course), as is the Ruben. The tempeh burger was good but missing something, but I give them credit for having it on the menu and giving it a try. You MUST do the brewery tour (they start at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm). It's really interesting--for novices and beer experts alike--and at the end you get a free pint glass! Yay!

The meal and tour were great...of course we loved the beer!

    (4)
  • Allison B.

Excited just to be back in the Pacific Northwest, we stopped at Full Sail to give the brew and in-depth examination and have some food. Ate out on the deck which has a nice, if a bit narrow view of the gorge. After trying the sampler, I realized that I'm not a big fan of their beer. It's too hop-heavy for me. I can say that the ribs were really, really great and exceeded my expectations. Conclusion: Go try the beer, leave talking about the food.

Took a risk on the beer float (vanilla ice cream with a stout beer), and it was tasty. :)

Food is excellent and moderately priced. Service and wait time is almost not worth the food. Slow to take your order and staff seemed to hate waiting on people.

  • Charlie and TJ A.

TJ says: Charlie and I ate at Full Sail the night we arrived in Hood River. It was hoppin! There was a short wait and we were seated quickly - all of the staff were pretty friendly. Our burgers were excellent, I doubt we'd get anything else if we make it back! The restaurant seems very family friendly, I noticed lots of couples with young children about the place. Charlie says: Yep. Burger was slammin'. And the beers are great.

Came here for the brewery tour but had to kill time so we ate. There is a lovely view of the gorge and freeway. It was beautiful overcast Oregon weather with dark Stormy clouds and a grey that made the dining area cozy. The creme brulee was so delicious I ordered an additional one to go. When they told me that it would ruin the presentation because they don't have proper to go containers I told them that was fine and to just scrape it into a box because it wasn't going to make it to the car. It didn't even make it to the door. We bought some clothes. Of which I love my zip up and wear all the time. Overall, good food, polite servers, excellent creme brulee, nice dining room with a nice view.

Stopped in here on our way through town. I've always been a huge fan of Full Sail beer and having the opportunity to stop by the brewery was great. Hood River is a cool little town in the shadow of a giant mountain. The food was great, I had a burger and salad. My lunch mate had the wings which were big and meaty. Will definitely stop by again when I'm in the area.

Amazeballs view of Gorge. Beer great but two different lagers I had tasted "old". Food decent (beet salad was humongous). Didn't take brewery tour. Unexpected surprise on my recent PDX trip!

  • Jon S.

My buddy and I stopped by every afternoon during our vacation for a delicious beer. The place is almost always hopping. For Friday or Saturday, expect a wait as you get close to or after 6pm. We ate once. Good basic diner type food. But why waste all that precious gullet space on food when you have all those beers to choose from! The staff is very businesslike.....busy and getting it done. But if you engage them they are very friendly.

    (4)
  • Chuck H.

Great beer. Great food. Outstanding views. I had the pulled pork sandwich and loved it. With that I tried a seasonal German-style beer that I enjoyed. Others had burgers and enjoyed them. The stout was very good.

  • John O.

If I could give them 4.9 stars, I would, just because the (new/training?) waitress kept my card for what seemed like an eternity. However, the food was *amazing* (we had the Smoked Salmon Pasta and Focaccia bread, with a Rhubarb Crisp for dessert). The beer, of course, was fantastic, and they have "Full Sail" pint glasses for 5 bucks. If you go to the pub/restaurant, sit outside, on their 2nd-story deck with a view of the Columbia River and mountains. You'll feel like you're in Vegas.

Full Sail is the best! I came here from Chicago for my 30th birthday with 10 friends from various places around the states, rented a cabin and spent the day in Hood River. The brewery tour was awesome and interesting to hear about how the brewery believes in employee owned businesses. It was also interesting to learn that all employees are cross trained in every aspect of the job and every couple of hours switch duties. This is why Full Sail is my favorite brewery! A brewery with excellent politics and amazing beers!

WOW! What more could you ask for? Fresh beer, delicious food, amazing view, and a great atmosphere. All can be found here at Full Sail. I came here with my sailing team on a trip to get some dinner. We were in a group of 8 and arrived at 6:30 PM and it was crowded, but, the friendly hostess seated us right away which was awesome. We all took awhile looking over the beer menu and the food menu, and all decided on different items. The menu was pretty complex for a brew pub, it had everything from classic sandwiches to Thai inspired creations. I got the soup of the day, a Thai shrimp coconut soup, and to my surprise it was DELICIOUS. It was spicy and fresh tasting and went perfectly with a cool pint. Everyone else's appetizers were great too. One friend got the spinach artichoke dip, and it was delicious. It came with toasted pita and the dip actually had a really good cheese flavor, they definitely create it themselves from scratch. For dinner I went classic and got the ribs. They were very unique and delicious. The sauce was homemade and was very herby and spicy at the same time. They were really good and I am a stickler for ribs. The fries were tasty too and cut fresh, and even the coleslaw was unique, it was Asian inspired with some yummy cucumber and it was nice and light. Some of the girls in the group tried the Thai dishes like the pad that, which there was skepticism about, but, when it arrived it proved delicious as well, it was fresh with a yummy sauce and nice presentation. Not bad for a brew pub. The view is amazing as well and although we decided it was too cold to, you can eat outside. Come here for some fresh beer, some varieties you can only get at the brew pub by the way, and some great original food to go along with it.

My wife and I stopped by Full Sail on July fifth to taste some of their pub exclusive beers. Generally, their beers are average. Their porters had good coffee notes and their IPAs were sufficiently hoppy but none of their beers captured my imagination or my heart. Compared to all of the other breweries I visited in Oregon, Full Sail was by far (and disappointingly) the most lack-luster. $1 four ounce tasters are cheaper per ounce than the $4.25 pints. Tip: Take the tour and get a free Full Sail pint glass.

While on a tour of the Gorge with some fellow businesspeople the morning before our meetings started, the rental car we were in magically directed itself to the Full Sail Brewery. Scout's honor. I think we had one of those new Google cars that drives on their own. :) Honestly, we didn't plan on coming here, but when we drove by and saw the opportunity to eat and have a beer before our meetings, it was the natural decision to make. I had a great salad here that had these amaaaaazing balsamic onions. I could have just had a bowl of the onions. Probably wouldn't have made the people sitting next to me at the meeting happy, but I honestly wouldn't have cared. Sandwiches looked good and large from what I saw other diners ordering. For the vegetarian fans, you are some lucky ducks! The Tofurkey factory is right next door to the brewery and supplies various veg-friendly options. (Honestly...seeing TOFURKEY written in humongous letters on the side of a warehouse cracked me up.) But let's really be honest now, we all ended up here because we were feeling a little thirsty. I tried the Amber Ale which was light and delicious. Lots of different options were available on tap, and if I hadn't had a meeting to go to, I would've gone back for their Oktoberfest. I considered buying 6-packs and taking them to the meeting with me to share. But honestly, that probably wouldn't have been a great idea.

This is a fun place to stop in for a meal and a brew when you're in the Gorge. The menu isn't anything out of this world, but it's good solid pubfare. The brews are tasty (Session Lager=best camping beer ever) and, most important to me, the service is good even when it's crowded. Also, great views of the Columbia from your table. Hard to beat on a cold (or warm) day!

    (4)
  • Ryan M.

Excellent beers and one of the best burgers in the gorge. Sitting inside or out, it's hard to ignore the view from the restaurant. The wait staff has always been friendly and prompt and knowledgeable about the different brews on tap. This place can get pretty crowded on the weekends, but the line seems to move really fast. They do offer brewery tours a few times a day, a fun walk through if you're curious about those kind of things.

  • Amber E.

Good service, friendly staff. The server was willing to accommodate our food allergy needs and made several suggestions for us. Food was delicious but portions are small. Kids quesadilla was a 1/2 size so we ended up ordering another cheeseburger. Plus, the butter noodles are the only kids entree that doesn't come with a side. It would be nice to at least offer the raw veggies with it. Other than that we had a great experience.

Great food, better beer. Steak sandwich is a must have. The views of the Columbia are some of the best in Hood River. Can have long waits on the weekends.

Full Sail has long been one of my favourite of the microbrews; they eschew the 'big beers' that are currently in vogue and make a series of perfectly balanced, incredibly drinkable beers instead. Their beers are good not because they taste more than others, but mainly because they taste better. Their commitment to quality is reflected in their brewhouse, they are apparently the largest fully manual brewery in the country (I know that thanks to my stellar tour guide Randy). Rather than use the automated approach espoused by many of the major breweries, they still use more traditional methods. The location in the Hood River Valley is important in no small part because of the proximity to the hop growing fields of the Pacific northwest. The majority of the barley grows in the region, and the water is the fresh regional water. It's interesting to see a brewery of this scale (distributed in over 30 states) making such a commitment to local ingredients. Plus, after the tour, you get a free pint glass.

This brewery has it all. Delicious beers, yummy foods, and I love that the employees own the company. I am a huge fan of all their beers and I often buy their bottled beer to drink at home. They give free brewery tours, which is very informative. Their food isn't too shabby either. Their gyro was amazing. Seriously, one of the best gyros I've ever had (and I love gyros!). The tzatziki sauce had a nice bite to it. I enjoy eating their salads as well. My boyfriend got their hamburger the last time we were there and loved it almost as much as I loved the gyro. He has also had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, but thought it was a little too spicy. Overall, you really can't go wrong with Full Sail. Amazing beers, good food, great service, and a fun atmosphere with a beautiful view.

I'm reading these other reviews that tout average 'pubgrub', but in my opinion having a menu item that contains prosciutto immediately disqualifies that determination. If you find yourself here....DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT TRYING THE GARLIC FRIES!! I was as impressed by the menu as I was by the view and the beer.

Ok, I give them an extra star for having the outdoor seating that's comfy. The beer platter they have was great, as my friend is a beer fanatic. The food was decent. Only thing that got to me was the smell of the actual beer making process on the outdoor patio. It's not a bad smell, but kind of a funky odor. Besides that we always make it here when we go to Hood river! Great spot for a beer and view!

Went here as a second option after hiking up the Gorge a while back. I wanted to go to Double mountain brewery but they were having their anniversary party and it was crazy over there. We were starving so decided on Full Sail. I have been here quite a few times over the years. The beer has always been so so, there are a few beers they make that are ok but most of them i'll pass on. Service was terrible and I'm not really sure why because they werent that busy. The server girl had an attitude from the moment we came in till we left, she almost wanted to hurry us along and get us out of there it seemed like. The food was just ok and was overpriced. This was kind of bordering on a 1 star for me but as I said I've been there before and had a decent time.

My husband has always loved Full Sail beers and we collect pint glasses when we travel so we stopped in for one round and were glad we did. It was packed but we got right into the bar and the service was fast. I tried the new Rose, my husband had a beer, and we picked up a few to take home. Definitely worth stopping in when you are in town!

If you are visiting Hood River, you must go to Full Sail. Pulls in locals and tourists because the food is good. Cool atmosphere. Try the beer sampler.

Great view of Hood River on the patio - amazing beer and great food! I had the tempeh burger with potato salad + amber ale. It was very good! The bartenders were fun too. Definitely a must try!

After a long day of white water rafting at the White Salmon River, we were all in desperate need of a brew and some good, heavy, brew food. This Full Sail location is pretty sweet--it overlooks the Columbia River, where you can watch the colorful wind surfers doing their thang. Unfortunately, you also get a fabulous view of I-84, but what can you do? Three of us got the taster plate--7 samples of 4 oz brews. My favorite was the IPA, with the LTD a close second. I ordered the macoroni and cheese (I really don't know what it is with me, beer, and mac n cheese), which sounded really good in the menu. It was supposedly a 6 cheese macoroni and cheese with red pepper flakes to give it some spice. The mac n cheese was a disappointment--way too bland and we had to add some red pepper flakes and Tabasco sauce to give it any sort of zing. But, it did do the job and fill up a starving girl. In short, like most breweries, come for the beer, not the food.

The hummus plate is crazy good for $8. Hummus, pita bread, tomatoes, marinated artichokes, cucumbers, olives, and feta. Oh, and the beer is good too!

Meh. Some friends and I thought that dinner and a beer would be a great follow-up to a hike at Wind Mountain, but I was rather underwhelmed. I looked at the detailed beer list, and the only beer with fewer than 30 IBUs was Session, which is available ONLY in a stubby glass bottle. It's just not the same as a nice draught beer in a glass. I also had an order of macaroni & cheese with my beer. It was tasty enough, but it didn't impress me the way I was hoping. If you're going to use bleu cheese, Gruyère, and sharp cheddar, I should be able to taste them. The overall taste was very mild, almost bland, like ricotta. A sprinkling of red pepper flakes enhanced the flavor slightly. If you're a bitter beer-craving hop-head, you might like Full Sail, but I am not one of those people.

I was in town from Sacramento and stopped in for a tour and some beer. The tour was AWESOME! It was very informative and humorous. It involves tasting a few of the hops, seeing all the tanks and learning lots of info about the brewery. At the end you receive a free Full Sale Pint Glass. The tour was 5 stars! The brewery, however, was a little disappointing. They were out of my size in several of the T-shirts and the beer was warm. I could forgive the t-shirt thing, because they are popular, but there's no excuse for warm beer. I tried several small sample glasses and all were warm...not cold or even cool! I had to deduct a few stars for this reason.

Stopped here on my way from Ellensburg, WA to P-Town. I love stopping at brewpubs for lunch and Full Sail provided me with stellar sustenance and refreshment. I ordered a fantastic seasonal IPA and the Halibut Sandwich. I love my fish, and they did not disappoint. I think the fish was fresh, it was fried perfectly and the whole shebang was very well put together. Girlfriend ordered some fantastic Tempeh from Turtle Island Foods (Tofurky Maker) which is located right nearby. It was really great Tempeh. The other beers tried were a seasonal Belgian Dubbel, which was good, but not as awesome as my northwestern-hopped IPA. Why would one drink any other type of beer while in the land of the hops? I highly recommend this place for lunch.

Absolutely LOVED my visit to this establishment. I could not get enough of all of the GREAT beers on tap and the service was good. Great little seating area outside with a fantastic view of the mountains. This is a must experience if you are a fan of really good beer. I will definitely be back for more.

Decided to stop in at Full Sail after a day visiting the Hood River Area. I missed the last tour but decided to try the dining experience. Overall I was not very pleased with my experience at Full Sail. The service was sub-par at the best. After setting myself we waited about 10 minutes for a server to come over, now mind you it was not busy (only four other tables with two servers), just that the servers thought it better to hold a conversation. Even after we our server came over to drop off menus it was a few more minutes before our beverage order was took. Our server then dropped off glasses of water for me and my wife along with my beer but offered nothing four my 3 year old daughter(the water came in pint glasses, a little big for a child). The food also was below what i would have expected. A burger ordered medium done came out charred beyond well done with very crisp burnt edges. The ribs were lacking in flavor as if they had just been boiled then the sauce applied to them. The portions also seemed a little small for the price. The burger was good sized but came with a small side of fries. The sides for the ribs also were less the satisfying. At this rate next time we head out to Hood River and decide to go to a brewery it looks like we will hit up either Double Mount ion of Walking Man over in Stevenson.

The food is so-so, but hey, com'on, it's a brewery! You go there for the beer, not the food, right? Too bad their beer isn't that great either. I'm going to bump them up to 3 stars instead of 2 though because I did like their Sessions Lager and their LTD 30 was decent. Their ales, however, were not good. Also, bonus points for being employee owned/operating and for being environmentally sound .

Double Mountain, I'm sorry I cheated on you. Will you take me back? Seriously lackluster beer and food. I'm not kidding when I say that the ketchup was the most flavorful thing I tasted here. The bacon on my sandwich didn't even have flavor, I forgot it was there! How does that even happen? It's bacon! The service was great though and the view beautiful. I kept noticing how clean and spotless the bar was, that's cool. I also love the design of their labels, packaging, etc. Unfortunately, these things are not what I look for when on the hunt for some tasty beer. If you want great Oregon beer, I have to say look elsewhere. It abounds!

My fellow vacationers and I decided to rent a car to drive to Multnomah Falls. This also meant we could check another brewery off of our list by stopping at Full Sail Brewery. Thankfully we did! This brewpub had the best view of the 15 brewpubs we visited in the Pacific NW. I also really liked their design sense. I decided on the taster tray which didn't disappoint. I also really enjoyed my lunch - squash soup (with just the right amount of spice) and salad. Our server was great and checked in on us enough so that I felt we were taken care of but not to the point where I wished she would leave us alone- perfect balance. I would have liked to have had more beer but we were headed back to Portland to try 5 more brewpubs so I had to pace myself.

Full Sail is one of the big dogs in the Oregon brewery scene, and while most people are more likely to visit the Portland location, the original Hood River brewery is in a beautiful location overlooking the river and makes for a great experience. There are lots of great beers at Full Sail, but if I had to recommend just one it would be the Session Lager - it won Best Premium Lager in the World for a reason. The food is good, if fairly typical pub fare, but it's worth it just to spend an hour relaxing in front of the big windows or on the patio watching wind sails on the river.

  • Amanda Z.

The food and beer are good, but I think their beer is a little over priced for being brewed in house. I was also not impressed with their service, I have been serving for 3 years and know what it is like to want to turn tables over quickly but you sort of want to be discrete about it and theirs were not. A little more training and a slight price adjustment would do this place from good do awesome.

Suggestion: order the hummus plate with a crisp refreshing beer. The best hummus combo is hummus, artichoke and feta. Your taste buds will rejoice!

Came here for lunch and to see the brewery. Lunch was great, and deffinitely a notch above most pub food. The view from the restaurant to terrific. Of course the beer is good, and the free brewery tour was great. They even gave us a nice beer glass to take home! This company is employee owned which is really cool.

Full Sail is one of those old-line (for Oregon, whose brewing culture isn't that old) breweries whose presence in the regional market has been established for so long that they've become sorta easy to miss in the trendy, Flavor-of-the-Month world of Northwest beer. Yeah, they're a little stodgy in their brewing choices, not making a big IPA, as the current trend would dictate, and yeah, they make the same sort of generally milder, less-challenging beers that Hale's and Pyramid make, albeit a good bit noticeably better. All true. They DO, however, always offer small-batch brewer's selections at the brewpub and these could be anything. When we visited, they were pouring Full Sail Lab Supervisor, Kristy Holsopple's "Dunkopple", a dark, malty, GORGEOUS German-style lager that looked seductive and almost glowed a lambent mahogany in the glass and tasted...well, as freakin' good as ANY German-style dunkle I've ever tasted in the NW. You may be thinking "Their LAB SUPERVISOR brewed this?" Yep. Out of the many things to like about Full Sail, one of the foremost is the fact that Full Sail is 100% employee-owned. The inmates are definitely running the asylum in Hood River and they've proven surprisingly sane and VERY good at making the somewhat, well, tightly-focused range of brews they produce. EVERYONE at Full Sail is encouraged to contribute ideas and those ideas are recognized in tangible ways; celebratory ways, in fact. Their pride in their operation there, just off I-82 in the stunning Columbia Gorge, falls just tastefully short of smug. They're good and they know it and that's the sort of attitude that leads some businesses to get lazy and complacent but allows sane and well-run companies to labor daily to never let that standard fall. On our visit, I was personally delighted to find that they, out of the 12-15 breweries I've visited this summer, were pouring a stout(!). I'm one of those hard-core types who refuses to let go of the Stout/Porter continuum when the heat kicks in and sitting there on Full Sail's small, cozy sun deck, sweating my ass off and sipping one of the two or three best stouts I've tasted in quite a while, I was one blissful little camper. Kristy Holsapple's amazing Dunkopple was just as good and Judye's fresh pint of their flagship Amber was even better at the brewery that it is on tap here in Seattle. Detractors will refer to Full Sail as those low-ambition aging hippies down there in Retro-Oregon, pumping out lakes full of unchallenging beers (they ARE the 17th largest brewery in America, after all) but the "unchallenging" part of that is just more of the same sort of cultural group-think that beer geeks ridicule when BudMillerCoorsPabst drinkers call their beers "Real American Beer" and make allusions about "manhood" and "frou-frou beers". Beer does NOT always have to be challenging. It can also be traditional and great and that combination works every bit as well with dedicated beer lovers as extreme and cutting-edge. Full Sail is simply a great brewery with a social conscience, humanity, and REAL dedication to pleasing their patrons. If running a business like that isn't "challenging" enough for some, it says a LOT more about skewed priorities than it does about Full Sail.

Very enjoyable spot overlooking the Columbia River in Hood River. Excellent selection of beers and well above average food for a brewery. I quite enjoyed the artichoke dip as an appetizer. The outdoor seating is very enjoyable on a nice sunny day along the Gorge.

Came here to try the beer as recommended by our handy dandy Pacific Northwest roadtrip guidebook. The beer was pretty good, but not over the top. This is definitely more of a bar since the menu didn't tantalize me. Go there during the day to check out the view of the Columbia River Gorge and get a few beers to taste the selection offered.

Pleasantly surprised at FSBC. Expected great beer and mediocre pub food and service but happy to say that beer, food (try the hummus) and service were excellent. And all at about a third of the cost of the "better" restaurants in Hood River.

This place made my vacation. Beautiful building with an amazing view of the river. The town reminds me of Napa but not as . . . snobby? The people are great and the waitresses top notch. Afterwards I suggest you walk around the town and sight see a bit of the town.

Surprisingly good food and service (and of course beer) for the most 'mainstream' brew pub in a small town. Sure it's more slick than some of the other spots in town, but come on people - it's still Hood River. We sat at the bar and had great bartender who was friendly and wonderfully knowledgeable about the beers. Food was great - the Ruben was remarkable.

Passed the Full Sail Brewing Company from the side of the road and we pulled in hoping to catch the last tour of the day. Bummer: last tour leaves at 4pm. We got in at 4:20. D'oh! We went to the Brew Pub instead in hopes of trying some things we don't get down in Cali and grabbing a quick nosh. I tried the 7 beer sampler and swapped out the IPA and Pale Ales for something I liked better. Waitress said they were only accommodating about it because it was pretty empty in the pub. Also shared some garlic bread and the first order of mozzarella sticks I've had in about a decade. Given the opportunity, I could have gone swimming in the marinara sauce. Awesome view, good grub, tasty beer. All around good reason to pull off the road and check out Full Sail.

Full Sail Brewery is a really nice and comfortable place to get a meal and a drink or two (or three or four....). I nearly passed this place up coming back from the Tri-Cities into Portland based upon the other reviews; thankfully I didn't! I thought this place was great, in fact, I had the BEST Ruben sandwich that I have ever had. The service was great, the beer was even better, and the prices were not as high as we were expecting (normal "nice" restaurant prices, I don't know why people have deemed FSB as expensive). I am surprised that this place has received such low ratings; though I never saw this place prior to the remodeling, from what I've heard the changes were not too drastic. I can understand how change can be upsetting; based upon the dramatic remodeling at Bridgeport Brewery in Portland (which I HATE), I have to admit, I hear them barking, it is exactly how I feel!

Forget the little version in the big city: you want to come out to Hood River for the real deal. I do a lot of hiking out in the Gorge, and most of the time I manage to find my way out to Full Sail afterwards for a beer and some fish and chips. (The Reuben is good, too.) I've converted plenty of friends and my parents to the place as well. I'm a long time Full Sail fan, but until I visited a few years back, I didn't know they also make lots of special, limited edition brews, some of which can only be had at the brewery itself. That alone is worth the trip, plus there's the yummy sampler, the great view, the little patio outside, the nearby windsurfing, the coffee shop down the street...yeah, go to Full Sail.

I hadn't been to the pub in a couple of years and was pleasantly surprised at all the improvements, including the quality of the food. A full menu, not just burgers and chili. The turkey and brie sandwich was delicious as was the brownie for dessert. Service was excellent.

We took the tour and dined in the pub. I give the tour three stars and the pub four. Overall it deserves 3 1/2 star rating but Yelp does not allow me to rate this way. The tour is free, so I cannot really complain, but I will complain a little. We recently took the tour at Sierra Nevada and loved it. It was educational, and you got to taste beer at the end of it. Sadly, this was not the case here. The tour was only thirty minutes, and you merely received a glass at the end. I would have at least liked to get a discount in the restaurant. Our guide was great when we could hear her but most of the times she had to compete with all the machines around her, which makes hearing what she is saying nearly impossible. I did enjoy the pub. We sat outside on their patio, which is sheltered from the wind and most of the sun so it is very comfortable to dine there. I had the beer sampler which I always love along with the beer cheese soup and the veggie burger, all very good. My husband had the salmon fish and chips which he also enjoyed. The service was nothing special, but they were efficient, which is appreciated.

Just had a beer here so I can't comment in the food, but it looked good as it came by our table. For a beer I had the ESB on nitro which was smooth and a very good beer. I like the outdoor area, it was perfect on a nice summer day.

Good food and beer it's hard to argue with that! I find its best to hit the bar and skip the restaurant during busy times. Less busy times allow you to be seated in their outside area which is nice as well. Service is good and the food is above bar. And the beer is great. I try to make a point of stopping in Hood River and grabbing lunch here.

I've been here a few times..its ok. I'm not a big beer drinker anymore..and so I had a glass of Pinot Gris...it wasn't very good and for $8.50 I felt sort of upset about it. However, the portabella mushroom sandwich and salad were good...yum! We sat out on the patio with the nice view of the river and windsurfers. The service was good. Not as big of a wait as the other brewery nearby..so that was nice.

We drove the Columbia River Gorge and ended up in Hood River where we decided to stop in on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon for a beer. The line was long for a table to eat but we were seated quickly because we wanted only to drink. The outside was all taken but that is a great spot to see the river. The river is also visible from inside the restaurant but the view is perhaps not as good. I got the oatmeal stout and the wife got the Session Black ($4.50 each) and they were thoroughly enjoyable. The place has a nice vibe and is great for families as well as adults. We did end up getting some pretzel bread sticks to snack and they were an excellent accompaniment to the beer: salty, a bit garlicly, soft and chewy. Our server was really nice and brought the wife several samples when she was having trouble deciding which beer to order. I would definitely recommend this place because it is fun and has great beers.

DELICIOUS beers. We ordered the seasonal sampler and really enjoyed them all! I'd come back just for the beer! I had the salmon fish and chips and it was also amazing. Husband had the steak sandwich and thought it made a perfect lunch although he'd only rate it 3 stars.

We went here for dinner on a Friday night. We requested to sit outside if they had anything available, and the hostess said they had one last table. It ended up being the best table on their patio with a great view of the water (this place isn't right on the water, but still has a decent view). Our server was very friendly and patient with us, and obliged my obnoxious request for a pitcher of water since we were all super thirsty. I ordered a beer to start off (it was dark but I don't remember the name) and we decided to split the pretzel sticks. The pretzel sticks were good but nothing awesome - there were 4 1/2 (or 4 and one tiny one) and they were served with a cheese dipping sauce. For my entrée I went with the portabella sandwich with the side salad. The portabella was very good and had tons of flavor that were nicely complemented by the toppings. The side salad was topped with their house vinaigrette and was also pretty good. The food here is more like a 3.5 but the ambience and the view pushes it up to at least a 4. They also have growlers for purchase that are a pretty good deal.

5 star rating! Great food, great service, and great view! Salmon Fish and Chip was SO delicious and a MUST HAVE to try! Trip worth it to come all the way from Portland to eat at this restaurant. Small place with outdoor seating but we sat inside (to stay cool) from the 90 degrees weather. We came just in time before the long wait so highly suggest coming before noon to avoid long lines. Will come back here again:) Such a great restaurant! Very happy with my choice of restaurant here in Hood River.

This place has an amazing view of the Columbia River. Decided to stop by for some drinks off a whim and it was throughly enjoyable. The tasting trays offer 6 different Beers and a glass to go. They are great pours and overall enjoyably. My favorites were the oatmeal stout and the cheery larger. They also have some really great pretzel sticks with cheese beer dipping sauce. I would recommend coming here for a beer and a small tapa, other than that there are Better places to go for dinner.

My husband and I have loved Full Sail beer for years and so we knew we didn't want to miss a visit to the brewpub during our time in Hood River. This is the perfect place to go after a day of hiking. We waited about 15 minutes for a table for two outside on the deck on Saturday evening. The wait was much shorter than I thought it might me and was completely worth it to sit outside on a summer night. Our table provided the perfect spot to watch boats float up and down the river and kite surfers finish up their day's activity. I ordered an IPA and my husband tried the sampler with which he got to keep a small Full Sail glass. We started with pretzels and beer cheese which was delicious and satisfying, though the cheese was a little thin. I had the tempeh veggie burger which was on point and my husband has the burger which he said was great. The server was attentive and the atmosphere couldn't be better. This is the perfect place to rehash the days hike over a couple of beers and satisfying food. Enjoy!

Dang yo, you Portlanders really like you some IPA. Everywhere I went during my weekend trip had IPA by the gallon, no the tubs, no the kegs, no, by the metric ton. No, no, no, by the {Insert-large measure of unit]. Full Sail did not skimp on offering IPA or similar light tasting beer either. I had two of the Session Cream's and found them to be light and refreshing, with a slight cream feel and medium level of sweetness and a slight hint of malty caramel goodness. Whoa- I am actually impressed that I came up with all those words to describe beer. We waited a reasonable bit of time (about 25 minutes) on the Sunday before Memorial Day for a table inside. The service was attentive, but given the crowds our server was bustling around a lot. I ordered a vegetarian burger with a the "full sail" toppings - smoked gouda cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato and smoked pepper aioli. It was delightful with the Trio of Snacks we shared: mushrooms, pickles, and ham and cheese wraps. All in all a nice visit. Next time I'll try to come at an off time when it isn't a holiday weekend to enjoy the view.

Beer, food, and brewery all seem to be designed by a committee in a board room. Service is always with a scowl. You know how some places you go it appears as though people are enjoying their jobs, and then the service and quality are reflected from the positive feeling? Well, this is not one of those places. Also, I've heard Full Sail has pulled a 10 Barrel and has sold out! They've sold the company or were bought out to a larger company. So not really "local" anymore.

    (1)
  • Flora H.

The beer here is really great, as was the (free!) brewery tour. A $10 beer flight gets you a free tasting glass to take home, and taking the tour gets you a free pint glass to take home. Yay for souvenirs! The tour is under 30 minutes and all you have to do to take it is gather around the front of the brewery just before one is scheduled to start. My favorite beer was the AMBER. Really really good. But they were all good. I used to think that I didn't like beer, until I discovered that there are so many different varieties and brews of beers, and that some are actually really great. So, if you are someone that thinks you don't like beer, give Full Sail a try. The food in the pub was good, but nothing amazing. My bf had the wings and I had the vegan burger. Satisfied our hunger and went great with the beer, but I wouldn't come here just to eat.

How can you not enjoy a brew pub that serves its own craft beer? Sure, Full Sail is far from a niche brewery, but it doesn't make it any less fun. The beer samplers and baskets of fries with aioli are as good as it gets. I also had a rather decent steak sandwich, and even though it was packed inside the service was still pretty solid. If you've been to Rock Bottom then you know what to expect here; it's the perfect stop for lunch or dinner on a day trip from Portland to the area.

    (4)
  • Aaron T.

Food was a lot better than the beers. So many good beer options elsewhere, but this place made up for it with superior food. They still have a couple solid beers, but would rather come here to eat rather than drink. Really liked their pretzels and beer cheese.

There are some really great places to stop in HR now, and this is still a tourist must-stop. It's always packed, but service is fast and friendly. I wish the outside area was bigger and the layout of the bar allowed you to see the beauty of the Gorge even more - hopefully they expand this space soon or open a 2nd location! Order hummus plate and it was good - big portions for 3 gals to split. I've been there, done that - doubt I'd be back unless for another tourist stop with...tourists. :)

Skip it - they have grown too big for their britches and have taken your eye off the ball. I stood at the bar on a recent 90+ degree day, thirsty, needing a pint to go join my friends who were already sitting, waiting for one of the three people talking with each other behind the bar to help me. They helped servers (which i get) and two other people that came in after me and were standing behind me - because they were friends/buddies. Nothing is more bush league elitist hipster than the bartenders looking right through you and saying a big hello to their buddies, chatting about nonsense, taking their time to give them great service - then finally turning to me and being rudely impatient with my question about a beer and acting like i am trying to join their super secret club of awesome trust fund dropouts. I know that i am not a local, am over 40, but its not like i was asking for a handout - my dollars were just as good as the dude-bro's you shined me off for. Not recommending we meet there next time we have a ball game in town.

I've been to a lot of breweries and this one is in my top five favorite. The wide variety of beers are SO tasty. The food is very good (we got two of their salads). And the view is AMAZING. This is a must stop place if you are ever visiting Hood River.

Good choice to eat. Beer is great service usally is great tho I have had some times it could be better. Food is decent nothing fancy just American food tho salmon fish and chips are hard to beat. The view is fantastic if you sit in the patio area.

Every time I go here I want it to be amazing, but every time, my hopes fall flat. On summer days, in my yard I am happy with their session beers, but as a local craft beer on tap, they lack any real substance and the hop aroma or character on their hoppiest beers(the IPA or their cascade lager) pale in comparison to other breweries in town, and I wouldn't hold that against them if their food was good. But really it's just bland overpriced pub food. Their burger has flavor, but is nothing in comparison to other burgers I've had in town. The steak sandwich is not a steak sandwich it is a roast beef French dip, which is something I might have enjoyed had I seen it coming, I was expecting steak- another let down. I wish I could say more full sail. As a brewery, I respect you for being employee owned and sustaining On The national market but as a local brewpub, I will be going elsewhere in Hood River from here on out.

Nice food, good beer, and excellent views. Treat yourself to the brewery tour while you are there; it is well worth your time to see how a real brewery works. This isn't some small-time micro-brew in your neighborhood, but a true brewer with massive tanks and production. The menu is full of typical pub fare, and the taps are abundant with some really nice brews (many better than the bottle beers from Full Sail in your local grocery store). This is a fun place to stop by in Hood River.

Sadly happy hour is seasonal. November through March (maybe) but always a great place to stop and grab a bite and pint.

Excellent appetizer: pretzel breadsticks with beer cheese dip (pepperjack); excellent dish: salmon fish and chips with perfect batter and tartar sauce (best fish and chips of my life); excellent dessert: beer chocolate fudge cake with vanilla bean ice cream and salted caramel sauce. Nuff' said.

We went there for dinner. The view on the patio was beautiful. Hubby said beers were solid. The meal was good. I had the homemade veggie burger and it tasted fresh but the side salad was lacking in a major way - wilted lettuce, a few random cukes and grape tomatoes - and the service was nothing special. All in all we'd probably go back again, especially with the view.

This place has a nice view and average food. We got the wings. They were just okay. Friendly server. We also got the brownie which was a 4 star dessert. Very tasty. Needs more ice cream as it is big enough for 2 people as far as the brownie but needs one more scoop. Beer was good.

Had the seasonal tasting flight. The lighter beers were more my speed, the stouts not so much. Overall good beers but nothing blew me away. We had the pretzel bread with beer cheese. The cheese was weak. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the river which was nice. Service was good.

My husband and I each got a beer sampler. It came with 6 beers for $10, and that included a free taster glass to keep. Definitely a nice perk. The beers were decent. In my opinion, they were pretty average - nothing interesting, nothing terrible, just really average beer. We ordered the pretzel breadsticks as an appetizer. They were fine, nothing special. We split the Full Sail Burger with fries. It was pretty flavorful with caramelized onions, cheese and an aioli. The fries were good. Our server was friendly and attentive. The view from the patio was nice. Overall, I don't think I'd come back. It was a fine experience, just not something worth returning to.

Came here yesterday after a week of camping at Lost Lake. Food was great! Delicious burgers, I turned mine into a chicken burger and my husband had the beef. The pretzel sticks were awesome and the beer oh, so good!

Like many others, we stopped in after a day of falls viewing from Portland to Hood River. The salmon fish & chips ($15) deserve the uniformly positive reviews from other Yelpers. The hummus plate was great ($8). My son said his steak sandwich ($12) was excellent; tender and tasty. The beer selection was so-so; a little heavy on lightweight lawnmower beers for my taste, and not a single wheat beer the day we were in. We lucked out and scored a front row table on the cantilevered deck three stories above the ground with sweeping views of the Columbia River and mountains in the northern distance. Just beautiful. Junior liked his root beer floats. Plural. Two. We were on vacation. I readily recommend a stop in when in Hood River. What do you think of this review? Click a button below. Thanks.

Hummus plate was delish! Lots of fresh veggies & plenty to share. I'm not much of a beer person but the amber was good. Nice view, little crowded, lots of families.

It's the view. Full sail was the pioneer here in hood river, and they're worker owned, so many benefits. If I'd been here on my own I would have gone elsewhere, but brother-in-law visiting from texas and we went for the view. They make great beer here. Recently have leaned strongly on the lager and not into the styles I prefr. Much enjoyed my catfish sandwich, the puled pork & the brisket were all tasty, fresh salads of baby greens.

I think I prefer the smaller feel of double mountain but this place is iconic. Beer is good. Service is good. Patio looks great (though I sat inside due to the weather). I didn't eat

On a beautiful sunny day you can't beat Full Sail's outside patio overlooking the Columbia River. They offer a well rounded menu of beers, including a large selection of lighter beers (which I prefer). I highly recommended going for some of the one-off brewery specials since you can't find them on store shelves and they're usually fantastic. For the most part, I always have great service here. The hostesses and wait staff are friendly, responsive and knowledgeable. This might be because Full Sail is owned by employees, they have a financial interest in being excellent. Foods always good to great. The full sail burger is good, I tried the veggie version and found it was an interesting combination but would probably pass next time around. The steak sandwich is always good. The salmon fish and chips are delicious. The pretzel sticks were a miss for me, a bit to crunchy for my liking. Ooohhh the fries.... the fries are GOOD! I know it's good to eat green, but I'd get the fries on the side here. Give Full Sail a try, you'll leave FULL but pleased!

Cold finely crafted beer. I consumed Black Cherry Black. What a refreshing dark beer. Also ate salmon fish and chips. Fish was not greasy at all. Daughter had the pulled pork sandwich which she ate in record time. Take some time and check this place out. They also offer free brewery tours.

Just the view of the river while eating on the deck would be enough to get me here, but on top of that the beer, food, and service were all great! Highly recommended!

2.5 stars for the food... 3.5-4 stars for the beer = 3 stars overall. drank many a Full Sail back in the day when doing undergrad in Tacoma, but visiting the brewery was a treat. nice pub, kinda touristy but to be expected right? the nitro brewed Stout was excellent, as was the LTD. just delicious stuff. food was OK, only thing we sampled was the artichoke dip. granted we ate our serving (multiple beers will do that) but i wouldn't order it again. either way, really enjoyed my visit to Ful Sail - if you're a fan of their beers than its a must stop in the valley.

    (3)
  • Kelly C.

I'm not a huge fan of IPAs or strong flavored, hoppy beers, which Full Sail has plenty of. Although I did enjoy their LTD No. 2 (sounds like a fragrance, but is really a light, golden lager.) And I intensely enjoyed the artichoke and garlic dip. The bartender was nice enough to look up the recipe and show us the sheet, although by the end of the night I can only remember a few ingredients. Like artichokes. And garlic. They didn't have a special summer ale, but were promoting these Red-Strip like beer grenades for $2 each and a bucket for $10...although we decided that to truly get the full said experience, you gotta hit it from the tap. We sat at the bar, but the view from windows and side patio is amazing, like much of the scene in the river 'hood. But with several beers on tap that are between 8-9% and more, it's pretty easy to enjoy any surroundings here.

  • Tomas H.

Quite possibly the worst food experience. The ribs i ordered were 90% (no joke) fat and bone. accompanying grits like substance was watery with a few sad vegetbles across. My wife's veggie burger was equally as bad. Not gonna be coming back to this place despite the good brew.

I guess it's just an average brewery, but I liked it. I mainly wanted to write a review because they had one of the best brownies I've ever had..... warm and chewy... so good.

We recently went to Hood River for the weekend and had a great time checking out the different breweries. We had been to Full Sail before, so we passed on the tour this time. They have re-done their pub and menu since the last time we were there and it looks much better (we didn't eat). They had some great beers on tap, some that you wouldn't find at the store. The bar tender was very nice, and knew a brewer from our hometown. Before we left he sent us on our way with some stickers and a bottle opener. Not too bad! The pub also has a great view. Check it out next time you're in the gorge.

A good place for lunch in Hood River. I've been there a few times now-- always good food and decent service. It's best to sit outside to get the nice view of the Columbia/WA State and, for out of town guests, the beer sampler is a great way to go. I also recommend the turkey, brie and apple sandwich (on garlic bread).

Full Sail will always hold a special place in my heart. I have fond memories of a place, people and patio that I spent many hot summer days sipping down tasty brews and kicking it with my friends in 2000-2002. In 2002 I moved to the Bay Area and always appreciated the fact that I could still find Full Sail pale or amber on tap. Since moving back to Hood River in 2008 and building the place up to be something great I was disappointed in the remodel and the prices. Come on... at least offer locals a discount on pub food. If you are heading to Full Sail I recommend beers, fries and parking yourself on the patio. The staff is really pleasant, but my loathing of rude tourists keeps me from visiting. It's a shame.

Came in for lunch after a day of hiking and enjoyed a delicious BBQ bacon burger and a pint of palatable porter. Can't speak to the brewery tour but the gents I saw wandering around seemed to be enjoying it enough. If, like me, you're a lover of beer & breweries and you find yourself in the neighborhood around meal time, Full Sail's worth a visit.

Maybe more like 4.5 stars, but I rounded up. They provide a good free tour, and you get a free glass to take home. At the restaurant, we had the foccacia (pretty good) and humus plate (best I've had). The beers aren't my favorite (a bit dry and bitter), but they are good. I would come back and eat a full meal here.

  • Wendy N.

Really good food, especially for a brewpub. The view from the deck is wonderful! This is my third time eating here, always for lunch. The only reason I'm not giving this four stars is because we really had a bad server today, the others have been fine.

  • Michelle E.

Take the brewery tour, it comes with a free pint glass (although minus the beer). I love Full Sail-- their beer is one of my favorites, they're employee owned, and they're environmentally minded (wind power and recycling ingredients). I thought the food at the pub was pretty good, it's typical for pub fare, but the burgers are natural beef. The prices might be high for Hood River, but I thought they were decent-- $8 for a burger, $3.50 for a pint, and $6 for a 7 beer sampler (4oz each). I guess the meter lady is pretty stringent, but you can get quarters at the bar.

Great view, excellent beer, super friendly service, tasty hamburger, gyro, and brownie. Full Sail makes great beer. I recommend.

Ive been drinking Full Sail beer for years now and have always thought it was decent. Not Epic, but pretty good on a hot day. The Brewpub has been redone and honestly, it has been a little 'overdone'. Gone are the days of having a buffalo burger on the deck with some friends.... Still a decent pint but the atmosphere aint what it used to be. If you were fond of the 'old' full sail, head to double mountain instead.

Edited Review 30-May-2007: 3 stars I was camping at a lake by Mt Hood for memorial weekend and my buddy T came up Sunday afternoon to join us in the drizzly overcast. Inevitably the conversation that we finally had a sunny gorge weekend on memorial day (1st in 4-5 years) came up and then turned to our next favorite post ride/sail/etc activity: Full Sail. So I asked him-- have you been to Full Sail since the remodel opened? "Yep. This afternoon." I could tell by the tone in his voice there was a problem. "Dude, they broke Full Sail" My afternoon buzz dropped about six points. "Thats criminal. They can't do that. Only Bridgeport does that." He said "My wife and I just paid $37 for a couple beers and lunch." WTF????? "Kerry and Aaron seem to be gone too." WTF??? Now I don't have all the details yet but felt I need to warn everybody--- watch out! Full Sail seems to have headed downhill. I owe them a visit to confirm, but sounds as if the place has followed the rest of Hood River toward the upscale - get me the F&*% away from here direction. What happened to the place full of people who work hard, play hard, and want to go relax for a few pints afterward without showering before heading up to camp for the night? Seems like the end of an era. Year 20 (21?) is the year of the turd at this place. A dim glimpse of hope was spotted a few blocks away at a new brewery. Recommend to everyone who reads this to go check that out-- it may be the only thing left thats real in this town. -LW Previous 5 stars review written on 27-April-2007: One of my favorite places on the planet since I began regular visits in 1997. Best after a big day on the hill (mountain biking, boarding) or the river. Hopocity and Sun Spot are my favorites after VSP was discontinued. (Maybe it'll come back for 20th anniversary?)

I so wanted to like this place more than 3 stars, but a few things fell short. The first thing was this place was damn hard to find in Hood River! Could they be more off the main drag or what?! Once we found the location, we sat by the window so we could see the Columbia River and that was nice. They had the air conditioner going on a windy April afternoon? Really? We had to put our polar fleeces on to stave off the chill! I was really hungry and their menu looked great, but I could not decide what to order so I asked the waitress (who was very friendly and accomodating) and she steered me towards the Cajun Chicken Sandwich, which was one of my top contenders anyway, so I said "sure"! Well, she did mention that it was new on the menu, but I figured she knew what she was talking about so I ordered it. After 3 bites I sent it back as the chicken breast was SOOOOOO over done that I could barely swallow it. (I rarely send things back to the kitchen, btw) I felt badly, but I was paying for the damn sandwich so I ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich instead. THAT sandwich was the bomb! And I have to say that the side salad was mighty tasty, too! My husband did really like his Rueben sandwich as well. The highlight for me was the $7 beer flight taster! Love some of the new beers (ID2) as well as old favs like Session Lager. The other thing I liked about this pub was the acoustics! While I love beer pubs in general, they can be really LOUD at times - Full Sail Brew Pub was a place where you could actually hold a conversation!

  • Lori H.

I love the location of the full sail brew pub. The remodeled restaurant is beautiful...the views are amazing...and I love the Session Beer. However, like Xian, I find that almost every dining experience is disappointing. Today I went with 3 friends - I ordered a half Caesar salad (with chicken) for 9 bucks...the dressing was very vinegar-y (not like a Caesar dressing), the portion was small...and although the write up indicated there would be homemade croutons, I'd bet money they were out of a box. My friend got the burger (ordered medium...but came well-done). Looked OK...but, too expensive for the amount (10 bucks, cheese and fries included). The tomato also included the "butt end!" The other two diners ordered the pulled pork sandwiches...it was nearly "all bun" with little meat. That was also 9 bucks (each). I have to say that the fries were great, though!! Yum! The service was great...very attentive. But the food is not very good...and DEFINITELY not worth the money.

While I have always enjoyed Full Sail's excellent beer, I had never been to the actual brewery. Now living in Portland, my ladyfriend and I decided to check it out after enjoying the Hood River harvest festival. The restaurant seemed full, though we had no wait time. Upon asking the host what vegetarian options they had, she half-heartedly referred us to the menu. Once we approved, she gestured to some half-bench near a pole that I guess provided "the only open table right now" at which to eat. We were confused as we saw at least one open table near the beautiful window view of the town/scenery, but differed to her even though we didn't see her turn around. We waited at our "table" for almost 10 minutes without acknowledgment and watched people coming in later be seated at the open table we saw...Very strange. We decided to leave and weren't even acknowledged by the same host as we handed back our menus...For validity's sake, that is the first time I had ever walked out of a restaurant, and this is the first review I've ever written of a restaurant. I'm sure the place is generally good, I just felt uncomfortable, ignored, and frustrated. More than anything, I hope the people at Full Sail take the feedback to improve their company, as I'd like to see a great local company continue to succeed!+

All hail Vesuvius. We stopped at this brewery on our way out to Lost Lake for a spot of canoeing. We almost didn't make it because of Vesuvius, a rich Belgian Golden Ale with an alcohol percentage of 8.5 and the ability to totally get you wasted in one fell swoop. We enjoyed our beer on the patio overlooking the Columbia River on a seasonably warm summer day. I also tried the IPA and was very impressed. But really, it's all about Vesuvius. I would make the trip back up to this brewery for this beer alone, which I don't believe you can find bottled in stores. We didn't try any food but from the looks of the cute boy BBQing, it looked appetizing. We did take down a few bowls of the complimentary snack mix, which hit the spot. UPDATE: Ummmmm, they sell kegs of this beer. This should not be legal but it is. We threw caution to the wind and decided (after a few pints) that we should leave with an incriminating keg of this beer. For $105, it's a bargain. We drove down into the city full of Vesuvius Pride. Only to realize that there was no way we were having a kegger anytime soon and we had no way of refridgerating a keg in the meantime. Idiots. So we called the brewery and they kindly said we could bring the keg back for storage until ready to use. Full Sail is an employee owned and operated joint and they really could not be any nicer or accomodating here. So we drove back, and then back again last weekend to finally claim our long awaiten prize. And as much as I like this beer I can't recommend it for a keg, it's just too hard to drink a lot of it. 4 cups and I was down for the count. That is probably my record for the LEAST amount of beer I have drank at a keg. Boo.

The food was good, the beer was good, the number of kids was over the top. If you are bringing the young kids out and want quality beer and food this is for you. If your not into kids and want diverse craft beer, Double Mountain is the better choice.

We stopped in here on our way home after a morning on the mountain. It wasn't very busy when we got there, but it was overflowing by the time we left, so I guess about 1:30 on a Sunday is the right time to get there. Anyway, that isn't important. What is important is that the food, the service and the location were all good. My hamburger was overcooked (I order medium in the hopes of getting medium well and always end up with well done anywhere I go), but the rest of the hamburger was great with high quality ingredients. I did make the mistake of getting potato salad instead of fries (you try to be a little better and the potato salad ends up not being so great). I don't drink beer, but the boyfriend does and liked what he got. I suppose that's probably the most important thing about a pub. Overall, a very solid place to stop for food if you're in Hood River.

I went with good friends for lunch. They had sandwiches which they loved. I had a salad and it was a little lack luster, the meat looked like sliced deli meat. But everyone else loved their food. The view is great. Service was so-so. But I'll give it another chance.

Third trip down here and it never disappoints. Salmon fish and chips were delicious, as well as the hummus plate. I filled up on beers (had the Amber and Veizen) and ended up leaving more on my plate than I wished! Very good. The view is great when it's not too foggy. We sat and stayed a while to enjoy our beers and atmosphere, and the relaxed vibe just kept us even longer. The staff quickly cleared empty plates and pints. I also thought they were very attentive, friendly/welcoming, and overall pleasant, so I am not sure what happened on some other people's visits. It doesn't hurt that you can take a six pack/growler of your fave brew with you!

I can see why this place got Craft Brewer of the Year, with its delicious and savory selections! We came here to watch the World Cup game, and we were so glad to see the great atmosphere! There are tours available, merchandise for sale, yummy meals, and a great view over the mountain. If I lived here, it would definitely be a regular hang out spot!

For some reason, I never really thought much of Full Sail beers but the hubs wanted to check 'em out so off we went. We stopped in for lunch and just managed to grab one of the last available tables at that moment. I wanted to something "light" so I ordered the hummus plate. It was really good, a plus was the marinated artichoke hearts and nice big piles of cucumber slices, halved cherry tomatoes, olives and feta. It also had plenty of pita wedges (I hate it when there's not enough!). My light lunch ended up with me stuffing my face... oh well. The hubs had a pulled pork sandwich that he said was a bit messy but he ate the whole thing so I'm guessing he liked it. I also ordered their Berliner Wiess (sour beer) which I liked. Not too sour and quite refreshing actually. We also had a sampler which was pretty good too. Nice place to have a bite and a beer (or two..).

  • Taylor S.

Went here with some friends for dinner. The guys seemed to enjoy the beer sampler, but not being big on beer I can't comment. Our waitress recommended the steak sandwich, which we tried but we also had orders for the portobello mushroom sandwich and the turkey. Everyone's plates were cleaned in no time. The steak and turkey have a little kick to them, but they were so good. And get a side salad with citrus dressing with your sandwich. The dressing is so good! I kind of wish I just got a larger salad for dinner. The atmosphere was casual and fun. We went kind of late, so the place wasn't packed, but we could chat and watch the game from our seats.

Missed the brewery tour but stopped here for food on our way to Mt hood. I had some of the Full Sail Ale which was quite good though I'm not a beer drinker. Had a tasty lunch here while watching the kiteboarders on the river (binoculars would have been nice). Had a pilsner that appears to only be available at the restaurant. The reuben was good and the side salad nice. My child had the hummus appetizer plate, as it didn't appear that there was a children's menu. The food he didn't want to eat was put to good use in my salad.

Knowing what NOT to order is sometimes more useful than a recommendation about what TO order. So in that spirit, I would caution diners about choosing the Chicken Pad Thai. That dish is the PB&J of Thai cuisine and one of my kids' favorites. I've ordered it hundreds of times in different restaurants in and around Portland and this version was practically inedible. The reason? Spice level. For context, I should tell you that there was no mention of spiciness in the menu description. I order my curries, etc. at medium spice level and this was pushing my limits. When I asked the server if it was typically a spicy dish (after we started eating AND sweating), she said yes. So I don't believe what we were served was atypical. I think it is their standard dish. The other menu selections, beet salad with grilled chicken, gyro and grilled cheese off the "Future Full Sailors" menu were all fine. The beer was good, with special notice going to the seasonal Jimvar Bohemian Pilsner served only at the pub. We've had better versions of the food, but the atmosphere (indoor and outdoor seating with gorgeous views of the river) made it a reasonable dining experience. When we declared the pad thai inedible, they were accommodating and brought out another entree quickly and charged us for the less expensive meal. Unfortunately there is one more nagging transactional issue. I've had a 'pending' charge on my credit card for a week. I was charged for the correct amount and this second charge for an incorrect (greater) amount is still hanging around. I contacted the pub and they said they must have initially charged me for the incorrect amount, then caught the mistake, and the second charge will eventually disappear. I'm still waiting... So to sum it up, don't order the pad thai (unless you feel like taking a walk on the spicy side), watch that credit card bill and combine your visit with a tour of the brewery. It is offered on the hour from 1 to 4p (12 and older welcome with an adult).

I ordered the steak sandwich. They brought it out with raw steak. The menu didn't say it was served rare. The person I was with ordered a hamburger and it was raw in the middle as well despite him ordering it well done. We ended up leaving without eating. A manager didn't even come over to apologize. They should just stick to beer.

We stop here every year on our way through Hood River. We haven't always been thrilled with the food, but this time we shared the Mufaletta sandwich, Wow....tasty! Most of the staff is friendly and accomodating, I have a large service dog who isn't easy to tuck out of the way. They cheerfully stepped around her when needed, and no one rolled their eyes and sighed loudly.(Not always the case in some places) The place was full and everyone was having a good time!

There are a handful of NW craft brew pillars, in my estimation. Bridgeport Deschutes Mactarnahan's (I'm still used to it being Portland Brewing) Rogue Widmer Full Sail. I miss their Nut Brown Ale so very badly. Always, ALWAYS have enjoyed their pale and IPA offerings. I'm kinda hot and cold on the LTD series. I can't go without a winter without at least a six pack or two of Wassail and a 22 oz. Wreck the Halls. So, I've been to the Pub twice. Both times were for a quick beer. My recent trip included a pint of their fresh hopped pils: "Hopfenfrisch". Delightful. Wonderful, even. Sadly, I've never been to the pub for food, so can't comment there. It's seemingly on the small side, too, but that may have been a function of how packed it was on both occasions. The servers have always been friendly and knowledgeable. I love the NW beer staples. I mean it. LOVE.

Great place to get your craft brew and burger fix with a beautiful view of the Columbia River Gorge. Order the fries with garlic butter and enjoy. Friendly, attentive staff help round out your ideal dining experience.

Great place!! Get a sampler because there's so many beers to try! I only had the 2 sampler trays which were awesome, as well as the artichoke dip. I plan on going back during my visit to Hood River and trying more food. It smelled awesome there!! There was cute girls working and they do a great job making sure you have what you need. Good customer service. If you're in town stop here and check it out! You'll be sorry you didn't.

Did a tasting of their limited edition beers (available only on premises) in advance of their brewery tour. Got to try small pours of 7 of their beers. They run tours be the hour in the afternoon. We took the last tour of the day and were joined by four others. The tour was informative and--at 30 minutes--the right length for all but hard core beer enthusiasts. In addition to some very tasty beers, Full Sail's commitment to environmentally conscious brewing and it's focus on employee separate it from the pack. To top things off, got a free Full Sail pint glass at the end of the tour.

Super cool place! Totally blew away my expectations on food quality.. Service was prompt and friendly. Pale ale was stupendous. Burger was perfectly cooked, fresh meat and perfect fries. Food quality far surpassed expectations and makes top 5 burger list of all time.... Great place to relax after a long day in the mountains. Definitely be coming back next time I'm up there....

3 visits here during a 4-day visit to Hood River, and all were terrific. You come to Full Sail for the beer, but you also come because it was a brewing pioneer. Because you can sit outside and look out to the Columbia River (across the noise of I-84, sadly). You come because they're part of the community - sponsoring bike rides and other cool things. And, of course, for good beer and good casual food. Both the pulled pork sandwich and the reuben were satisfying. The PP sandwich isn't going to knock you back with real Texas or NC flavors, but the portion of meat was substantial, and the coleslaw on top added texture. Pair it with a Sail IPA and sail off to a nap afterwards - or a hike. The Reuben had plenty of corned beef, while the mixed green salad with chicken was enough for a light meal. The food seems like a foil for the beer - not loaded with intense flavors, but plenty good. Side salads that come with sandwiches are fresh and bright. The beers have more flavor than the food. LTD 06 is a dark, creamy brew that was fine on a hot day but seems like it would be even better on a chilly rainy one. Sail Ale is hoppy, with a bit of citrus taste, and just right for a hot day. If you can't decide, get a flight. Inside is dark and cozy. The outside is brighter, but with the 2 walls on either side, I thought it was actually a bit stuffy on a hot day, and as I said, the is almost constant noise as the big wheelers and cars speed by down on I-84. Service was friendly and pretty fast, even when the place was bustling. Oregon doesn't oppress people with tax on food, so that was an added bonus.

We ended up in Hood River, Ore. during a meandering drive down US30 and I-84 and were certainly glad we stopped here. A Lonely Planet Pacific NW guide recommended several stops including Full Sail. I was expecting to wait upwards of an hour for a table, seeing as it was a Saturday and there were plenty of folks around for the brewery tour. However, we were able to snag a two-person seating area and still catch a great view of Hood River. My dining partner and I tried the artichoke dip, which was fantastic (5 stars). Entirely too much for two people; we'd have been better served bringing 2 friends along to assist. I had the steak sandwich (3.5 stars) and tried a bit of her pulled pork sandwich (3.5 stars). The fries (2 stars) served with were standard, average pub fries. The steak sandwich was a delicious mess; it was a nice touch to have Sriracha sauce directly on the sandwich. The service was good, but I would have appreciated the same server for our entire visit -- it seemed as though 3-4 different people brought us drinks, beer, appetizer, and food; I didn't know who to tip! The tasting flight (5 stars) is where we got our money's worth: seven 4-ounce pours for $7, plus an eighth sample just for kicks. The Full Sail amber and IPA were a good start but my personal favorite was Phil's Existential Alt. Maybe it was my existential pondering that ruled the afternoon, but I'd gladly drink this again...if only shipping beer were legal (confession: I don't know if it is legal or not)... Above all, this was a solid stop for lunch on our recent Columbia River excursion. Great beer selection, great views, delicious food, and spot-on service. Now if only we'd had the guts to try windsurfing...

I never drink Full Sail at home, but I wanted to make it to a brewery tour while in Portland and Full Sail offers tours daily. I was so happy we made the trip out to Hood River after the tour and a light lunch. The brewery is located in a picturesque small town and has a great view of the river. We were a little early for the tour, so my boyfriend and I ordered small glasses of two beers while we waited. I got the Anniversary limited batch, which was too hoppy for me. The actual tour was very informative and our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. It is hard to hear in the brewery, so small groups probably make it easier to crowd around and hear the actual tour. At the end of the tour you get to take home some Full Sail glasses, but not taste any beer, which was a little disappointing. We decided to eat outside after the tour to really enjoy the view. I ordered the Tofurky tempeh burger Full Sail style and it was amazingly good. I wish I could have toured the Tofurky tour which happens to be right next to them. My boyfriend got their rhubarb cobbler, which was also really good.

Full Sail RULES. No day of hiking in the Gorge is complete without a stop for lunch or dinner here. The food is incredible, and the beer selection is the cat's pajamas. Their steak sandwich and, conversely lol, their vegetarian tempeh burger are to die for. It is really inexpensive to do a flight and try all the beers. I can't recall the name of the last beer I tried there, but it was delicious. My partner had Duffy's Counterpunch, also phenomenal - and the proceeds benefited Bitch media. Feminist beer - fucking awesome. (They always have a beer on tap that goes to charity, how cool is that?) There is almost always a pretty big wait but we are never waiting too long for a table. The service is prompt, attentive and friendly. Honestly - excellent food, kick-ass beer, A+ service and a great view. What more could you possibly ask for in a brewpub?

What's not to love about Full Sail? Great view, beer, food, service, and ambience! I visit this amazing brewery anytime I'm in the area. The hummus platter is amazing, so fresh and you get a lot for the price! The beet salad is tasty too. On several occasions I've been there with a large group and they've always been very accommodating. Beer sampler is a must try, the Session rocks!!

Pretty good. I've been drinking the beer for years so I thought it would be suitable to go visit. Food was awesome (Bahn Mi)!! and the staff were super nice.

The Bourbon brown was nothing short of freaking amazing. Small batch flat beer that had a ton of makers mark flavor with hints of caramel that was so smooth I really believe I could have poured it over cereal :-) will definitely be visiting this brewery again for the good food, awesome brews, and breath taking views!

For a brew pub, Full Sail is fast becoming one of my favorites. While the view of the river is a great reason to stop here, the food holds it's own. We usually end up in Hood River, hungry, after a full day of wine tasting nearby. So to keep the tasting going, we get the beer taster and try to remember our favorites. I'm personally a big fan of the Session Lager, I have to actively avoid purchasing a case to take home, otherwise it'd never make it all the way home. (Nor would I make it home either!) An order of the focaccia bread with the garlic spread is a must for anyone coming here. The spread tastes like pure pureed garlic! But to me, the real star is the Steak Sandwich. In my travels across the US, and especially Philadelphia, I have become a fan of the humble Steak. For my money, Full Sails is one of the best interpretations I've ever had. The meat is tender and actually has taste. The veggies are perfectly cooked, the Jack melting over the entire mess, and topped off with spicy Sriracha mayo. That is a sandwich worth getting out of bed for. I'm also a fan of Beer Cheese Soup. Again, Full Sail has one of the best interpretations I've ever had. This the kind of soup you want a bowl off on a cold, stormy day. Luckily, that describes Hood River more often then not. Oh, and if you have time, do the brewery tour. It's interesting to see how the beer is made and gives a much better appreciation of their products.

A favorite brewery of mine . It is independently owned and the beer is fabulous. I can get the regular beers back home in my liquor store (Utah) but come here to try something new. My family and I have taken two road trips up to Portland from Utah. The first time we hit Full Sail while visiting Multnomah and the second time we ate there on the way into Portland and on the way out. The first time i ate there the food was pretty good, but still just Pub food. However, the view on the patio was amazing and it was a great day to enjoy a beer outside. The last two times the food was very delicious. I recommend their beer cheese. I also love their pulled pork. Everyone does pulled pork now days but there slaw really made the sandwich. One disappointment: We had a the reserve sampler and I really enjoyed a couple of the beers. When I came back the next week only a couple of them were the same. I guess this was just bad luck on my part, they had switched their menu. The beers are very inventive but also educate people on what certain styles from different regions are like.

Beer was good, amber on nitro recommended. Good view. Better overall quality of food and beer I feel could be had elsewhere.

Great views from the deck (or interior). Very tasty beet salad, delicious hamburgers and what's not to like with the beer choice. Cheers

Very delicious. The pub has a warm vibe and has a really nice view. The food is really good and isn't too expensive.
