Came in around 8 pm for my first time. It was around 8 pm on a Thursday and was pretty dead. One of the baristas looked like she was busy gossiping with another customer and there was one other older gentleman sipping his coffee in the corner. Another employee came out of the back to help me. I ordered a blended white chocolate mocha which is apparently called a snowy mocha at the human bean. He had it ready in less than a minute and added a big coffee bean on top. For $3.75 it's a fair price. I usually always leave a dollar tip at coffee shops but this place similar to Starbucks doesn't give you the option to add a tip on the receipt.

As a customer of Insomnia coffee shop for years, I have no regret when giving Human bean coffee 5/5 stars. Always have nice services here, taking order fast and rightly. I only can drink Mocha and T.H.B has the best Vanilla mocha so far. The design of the hot cup is impressive btw. Long lines sometime but it's worth it.

I moved into Hillsboro last year and feel in love with this place. they never messed up my drink and the code was really good, even black. However, they closed for a month. when they re-opened the code was gross. I was really disappointed, nite I need to find a new coffee house.

Mariah, Whitney, and Hailey stole my furbabies loyalty in a heartbeat! (Or maybe they had biscuits) ;) Great Service, Great coffee!! Woof!

So, sometimes they serve me decently good drinks. Other times they are way to sweet (even when I ask for less), or sometimes just not very flavorful. The Irish Cream Breve is probably by favorite. Their coffee tastes pretty good if you add in cream and sugar. In the end I would rather have Dutch Bros or Starbucks. I do really like that they offer a student discount. Just show an ID for $0.50 off any drink, even their $1.75 coffee, which makes prices very reasonable. Also, any 16 oz drink is only $2 from 5pm to 9pm. They have double punches on Wednesday. Also, very cute and delicious that they add that chocolate covered coffee bean to the top of the drink. I also like that this location supports local artists by selling some of their art in store. They support local organizations as well by providing a large bulletin board and seemingly being very open to posting flyers and allowing information to be left for customers. Everyone has always been pretty friendly, but I just don't think their specialty drinks are that wonderful, whereas other places are.

If ever I find myself in Hillsborito and I need coffee, this is where I head. It is in the same parking lot as my Ear, Nose and Throat Doc so I stop in when I visit him. Their drinks are good and I love the chocolate covered coffee bean! That little extra makes me smile, no one else offers it and it is such a cheap little add on, everyone should do it. The gals/guys whom I have encountered has always been nice and happy, no complaints from me. Their prices are reasonable and mid-range.

Always driven past this every day and finally i stopped by it to get iced coffee. It tastes just as good as the coffre at nordstrom! Amazing coffee ill be back

THe coffee is great, the service is great! I recommend trying the "Snowy Mocha" formerly known as "Snowy Mt. Ashland" named after a mountain in Southern Oregon where the coffee stand originated from. I love that you get a chocolate covered coffee bean with each cup. And, they have Smith Tea's (Portland, OR local) and they are delicious! If you are debating between the chains of starbuck's and Einstein's, I recommend giving Human Bean a try!

Coffee was delicious, but there were hardly any outlets to charge my devices and the wifi isn't as fast/barely works, so going there to do homework wouldn't be a very great idea. Baristas were very welcoming and nice.

I LOVE this place! !! The drinks are always great, the barristas are professional, music is always awesome, atmosphere perfection. With a relaxed atmosphere and free Wi Fi, this has been my grading/studying/doing homework place for years. .. it's the only place I can actually concentrate in. If you don't quite have a specific drink in mind, ask your barista for suggestions and they'll come up with something great. There are tons of flavor options and they also offer different kinds of milk for vegan customers. The teas, pastries, bagels, and other food items are fairly diverse as well. Now that I'm done with grad school my only regret is not hanging out here as often!

apparently it is now company policy to charge fifty cents extra for a splash of soy or other non dairy milk in your Americano. cow secretions are free of course. I'm done.

Wish this place could be consistent. There drinks are good but on the first occasion they allowed me to split a small drink into 2 cups so I could give to my kids and avoid wasting the excess. They can't drink a whole kids small. But the second time the girl refused to do it and said they don't allow it. I simply said no thank you and went to another place which was very happy to meet my request and accept my payment. Will keep going there from now on.

Visiting from out of town and I still freaking lovvvvvvvvve this place. They have my favorite chairs, my favorite drinks (& bean), favorite staff, and favorite location. Sigh. Nothing quite like it.

The human bean in Hillsboro is a neat little cafe. If your not in a hurry there's plenty of seating inside to relax and enjoy your drink. Deffinetly more cozy than a Starbucks(not to mention not as over priced either) and less packed on average. There's even free wifi at this location, it's common to see a student or two on their Mac book here. I've seen them post live music events before So eventually I plan to make it to one of these lol. The staff is almost always the same and generally provided fast and friendly service. Each drink has a chocolate like bean placed on top as a nifty little bonus. Def. worth trying if you're in the area. :)

Needing a place to chill while I wait for my brakes to be fixed across the street, I have a choice... To the North a conglomerate coffee company, or to the South a coffee shop that's newer in the area (well newer to me). I must investigate. Walking in it's got that comfy cozy feel & I was greeted quickly as to what I wanted to order. I'm usually a plain coffee drinker (black, no sugar, & no cream), but opted for the monthly special "Muddy Snowy" (mocha with both white chocolate & milk chocolate)... Whoa! If you're into sweet drinks, this one should do the trick for you... One thing that impressed me (but is so simple) was the lids for the coffee. They have a little slider to open & close the sippy part & easy to sip from & you dont need to take your pen or pencil & stab a bigger hole in the little vent hole on the lid (I know you know what I'm talking about)... After recieving my drink & parking it in one of the leather chairs, I try not to fall asleep with the soothing background music. Had I taken the couch, it might have been lights out. They have free wi-fi which is great while you're chill'n. A few pastries & some gluten free offering for those that are curious.

Seriously terrible coffee. Gave em multiple visits to change my mind. And they did not. Nice people though...
(2)Maggie L.
The human bean is a great, inexpensive option when you want something that's not starbucks. Their coffee is consistent (although weak) and their breakfast sandwiches, bagels and pastries are yummy and very affordable. It's always warm and cozy inside with nice seasonal decorations
(4)Rebecca L.
Friendly baristas, good coffee, and a free chocolate covered espresso bean. Can't beat.
(5)Rian A.
Great drip coffee Baristas are awesome.

Nothing beats a ice blended coffee on a sunny afternoon, maybe a Cosmo does but back to coffee. After spending sometime finding some treasure at Goodwill I noticed this place shared the same lot. The gal working there gave me a free taste to make sure I liked it. How cool is that! Creamy, coffee goodness! Whip cream why yes please. I slurped that down and smiled while doing it.

Wow we just left and cancelled our order in the drive thru. You just lost a couple customers that chose you over Starbucks and Dutch bros. We ordered two 12 ounce drinks and an 8 ounce strawberry smoothly for the kids to share in the back. "Oh we can't do that. We can't split a drink in two cups." You can't split a drink into two cups so the kids each get 4 oz of a smoothly?Starbucks and Dutch bros do it and they even give the kids each their own whipped cream in Each of their cups!!!! Cancelled our order and finding a new place to get coffee now. Didn't make a $9 sale because you refused to use an extra 10 cent cup. Lol. That's what you call outstanding management........

Tasty coffee, friendly staff, a decently comfortable place to kick back and suck up some free wifi (unsecured at that!) and a drive thru window? Well I'll be, decent non-corporate coffee does exist in the suburbs. While this lacks the usual single-origin-craft-brewed-pour-over-italiano-Âsized-plaid-shirt-tattooed pretentiousness of Portland nano-roast coffee in which I oft revel, it did the trick when I needed a place to score som caffeine in between meetings on the far western fringe. And while I honestly wasn't expecting much out of my Americano I was pleasantly surprised. Oh, and did I mention the wifi is plenty fast? It was me and one other dude in there. No choppy slow service out here. And of course how can you resist a place with a punny name? Seriously.
(4)Kat R.
The people here are very friendly. There are a lot of outlets -- A MUST in my line of work. The coffee is good, and they give you a free chocolate covered bean! I just ordered a cherry scone. While not the best I've ever had, it definitely competes with Starbucks. The music is soothing and not loud. The customers chatter, but it is not overwhelming. This is a great place to study or have a meeting. Maybe even a first date. I'd highly recommend this place.

I've visited this quirkly little coffee shop on a number of occasions. They offer a few pluses: drive thru, milk alternatives other than soy or rice, and for those who aren't allergic to coffee (yes, feel sorry for me) the candy covered espresso bean on top of every drink. They also give you a discount if you are a student and/or you bring in your own mug/cup (which they don't readily advertise). Their only really down fall is their customer service. They are consistent, however, it is consistently cold. I have yet to get a smile or a thanks for coming in from a single employee. Their drinks are good and they are actually more conveniently located to my college, but I would rather drive a little out of my way (and I do) to get the same quality drink and feel like my business was appreciated. I've said this before (in other reviews) and I will say it again. When you are in a foody area like the Portland metro, service matters!

Oh kay. Five in the morning. I go to grind the beans. What beans? Oh, spawn of babbling Melusines, whatayamean no f*g beans??!! They are open at 5 here oh, coffee challenged folk! Twice I have gone in here and spoke to nice wee folk that don't really know squat about their coffee. The more important bit is someone in this company does know how to buy raw beans and how to roast. Last time I had to help the staff by holding the bag as she poured in the product--it is tricky to do. This time staff sold my future cup of joe in a paper bag like a ozer of weed, but no matter, it all works out when I come home and make a cup--it is good stuff. And they don't bat an eye when I show up in my jammies with feet in 'em and a button attached drop seat, which is nice.

I really like this place, but unfortunately my interaction with one of your employees was really poor. So much so that I doubt I'll be back here for some time, if at all. Honestly, haven't really had a good interaction with any of the staff in the multiple times I've been here before, but especially this time around. I hate to say it, but it's the nail in the coffin for me. I'd rather go somewhere else where the coffee is just as good and the customer service is a lot better.

i come for the Chai Tea and its really yummy! This location is convenient and has a drive-thru. Pastry items are limited, but good.
(4)H D.
Human Bean is so delicious that I went out of my way to find and go to this location based on other Human Beans. I wish they were in more places outside OR. Great drive thru service in Hillsboro in that popular OR and WA style stand alone style coffee building. HB is located in a small strip mall near a Mexican supermarket at 10th and Oak with easy access and parking. As usual they were friendly, pretty quick, and give you a chocolate bean atop your drink. Swing by and give it a try!
(5)Eileen W.
Decent coffee place. Conveniently located in Hillsboro.
(3)Jeffrey M.
This is a nice, clean, comfortable (if a bit corporate) coffee shop. Very friendly service. The pecan cinnamon roll was slightly stale but tasty. Can't go wrong here.
(3)Andrea S.
I determine whether or not I like a coffeehouse by its latte. Wow this was bad. I ordered through the drive-up and about 45 seconds later was handed a cup of what must have been pre-made coffee and already warmed milk. I heard no grinding of beans, and only moments of steaming. If I have to, I'll drink a Starbucks or even a McDonald's latte (to ward off the dreaded caffeine headache), but I took one sip and threw this away. They get a second star for very nice, well-meaning employees.

"It's just coffee," you say. How can you be so matter of fact? You live in a place that, while not blessed with the sultry climate to grow the beans, IS a place that damn well knows how seduce those beans into elixirs so enchanting they have the majority of us lusting for more. And our love affair doesn't stop at taste; the sensual pleasure can go much deeper. For example, there's this barista, Jason, an artist extraordinaire, who can create joy with caramel and chocolate in the froth atop your brew for an added visual delight. Ah sweet satisfaction. "Where?" you say. That town next door that you never looked twice at, but now's growing up, developing into something quite voluptuous, and ready to court: Hillsboro There's nothing attractive about the physical location, but this walk-in or drive-up Human Bean has inner beauty. It supports local baked goods, local art, local music, and local wares. I haven't met anyone on the staff who isn't smiling and willing to please. Go, be aroused.

This is my number one stop for coffee these days. And I am happy to report that since my last review I have had the staff deliver my coffee to my table twice. I failed to add on my last review that I was several months pregnant when the barista delivered my coffee to the clear other side of the coffee bar rather than bring it to my table...all well....I guess I needed the exercise. Anyway, since that review, service has returned to wonderful and quick. I love the free coffee beans, but I did not get one when I brought in a reusable cup for my coffee. (bummer) I love the quiet atmosphere inside, and I find it to be a semi-peaceful place to sip my coffee and chat with friends. In this this little neck of Hillsboro, Human Bean is as good as it gets.
(5)Drew W.
I came here while visiting Oregon and I miss it more and more with every day that goes by. When I came here I had the Human Bean Supreme, iced and it was fantastic!
(5)Stefanie M.
By far the friendliest coffee house around! Drinks are much better than Starbucks; The Human Bean NEVER burns their beans! The customer service is always A+! I frequent the 10th Street Human Bean at least once a week - the employees recognize me and almost always remember what I order! No matter what time of day it is, they are always cheery yet not over the top. The drink prices are a little high for my wallet, but the coffee is worth every penny!
(5)Harsha R.
Good coffee, nice ambiance, loved the chocolate bean!
(4)Tali L.
Well, it's a tiny little place in the middle of a parking lot...the coffee is OK I guess, but the service wasn't good: it took the waitress like 10 min to attend us, though no body else was there...than she answered our questions briefly...overall she just wasn't very nice. But as I said the coffee was OK and the pastry was actually excellent...

OH, how I love the Human Bean! I love this place so much that we live in Troutdale, but my husband drove me all the way to Hillsboro yesterday for no other reason but to give me my fix. Starbucks' Frappicinos ain't got nothin' on the granitas (blended espresso) at HB. I love you, Human Bean! Open up on the eastside!!!
(5)Chris H.
I've been going to this Human Bean since the day they opened in 2007. Service is always amazing. They have a lot of choices (more then Starbucks or Dutch Bros) indoor seating with wi-fi and even a TV for the news in the morning. Drive up window and a patio. You walk in and are greated by the friendly staff. Prices are reasonable.
