Great atmosphere and location, but you definitely pay a premium for both! With all the sushi options in the area, I've been here twice, and remember at the end of the meal both times thinking, that was good, but not great. I've only eaten the sushi here, and the fish is fresh and tasty. They have a ridiculous number of rolls on their menu, and many of their specialty rolls seem too over the top- some with three sauces drizzled over the rolls, etc., which by the second bite means you cannot taste anything in the actual roll. Also, Many of their specialty rolls are 12-18 dollars...if you do only sushi be prepared for an expensive meal. They do have some tasty sashimi options, I had local salmon there that was excellent. Their sake offerings are very impressive, and we enjoyed getting a tasting flight while we were there which was definitely worth doing. Overall, I only really go there when I'm at the Streets of Tanasbourne, and even then I find myself hesitating to return.

I absolutely love the sushi here! It's always really fresh and prepared with obvious care and attention to detail. Their miso is one of my favorites in Portland, and the sashimi is incredibly tender. I like checking out the 'recommendations' page of the sushi menu; I've found two new go-to rolls that I would never have otherwise tried. The service is decent, but not great....thankfully the food more than makes up for it.

This place is offer fairly good sushi in a nice environment. It's convenient for both my husband and I when we are lazy and don't want to make dinner. It's even more convenient for him because it's a 5 minute walk from his work place. Their lunch specials are well priced, too.

Top notch sushi. But the service is terrible. Be ready to ask for your drink three times but, the sushi is usually worth it.

Had the chicken yakisoba bento box. The rumblings were in a sauce which made them soggy. The tempura was good as was the sushi. Yakisoba is ok not the best I've ever had. Miso soup is extra salty salad is iceberg lettuce smothered in dressing. Overall, good sushi and atmosphere.

Decent restaurant. We liked their non-sushi items better. We had chicken fried rice on 2 occasions and weren't disappointed. Had the Spicy Chicken teriyaki bento combo & I liked all the bento options (3 pc sushi of salmon, snapper, tuna was passable: should have gone with California roll) [gyoza, shrimp tempura though oily were tasty]. I tried the Maki Sushi Roll (8 pcs golden CA roll, 6 pcs tuna roll, 6 pcs salmon roll), but I did not like anything outside the Golden California roll. Service was good on one occasion and not so good on another. Great location and atmosphere. 3 stars instead of 4 just because I had been there for sushi options, not for non-sushi options.

Edit: since the first time we came back, the service has been horrible. The food, rather subpar. Our appetizers and and entrees come out at randoms times. Some of us get served first while others have to wait while others have food in front of them. There where times where they forgot our food all together. We had to ask a few times, never received an apology of any kind. Food became hit and miss, some items were cooked others where not (foods that should be cooked of course) disappointing from their initial opening. Not my favorite, anymore. Shame. Initial post: Just found this place and really glad we did. Sushi is great, they have a fantastic selection of other dishes like sobas, udons, ramen, curry, meat dishes, etc.... As well as a great selection of beer too! They even have Asahi Black (which if you haven't tried it, you must). The service was good, the place was cute, hip...prices were comparable to other sushi restaurants, but I feel you get a lot of food...so. Definitely check it out!

I ordered Korean style Chirashi, BBQ Chicken BREAST Teriyaki and Burning Lobster. First of all they were missing rice, soup and sauce for my Chirashi so i had go back there to pick it up again. While i was doing that my food got cold and nasty. Fish was not fresh and they put too much of sesame oil so all i can taste was sesame oil fish. Second of all they used brown chicken THIGH and called it BBQ Chicken BREAST!! For the last they used CRAW Fish and called it Burning LOBSTER..... and of course over all taste was below one star.. They need to Correct the menu and be more honest to the customer.. I would give no star if i can

Best sushi I ever had, rice was perfect and the fish taste amazing. The chef makes sure every dish comes out amazing. I cant say anything about the service like others do, but when i personally go to a place to eat i go there for the food not the service. In my opinion, service was great! Go eat there.

My husband and I were excited to try this place but unfortunately we left feeling disappointed and a little hungry. The service was fine and the sushi tasted fine. But I feel like the rolls were expensive for how small they were. Like I said they tasted fine but not great. Everything was a bit bland.

Shogun Sushi & Sake has great, fresh and yummy sushi in the Tanasbourne shopping area! I had no food at home and was starving. My fellow foodie friend, Liz T. was craving some crabs and we figured a sushi place would cater to her cravings. The place used to be another Japanese restaurant, which wasn't that great. I'm glad Shogun has taken over and has actually given the place an upgrade! See pics: (1) yelp.com/biz_photos/shog… (2) yelp.com/biz_photos/shog… (3) yelp.com/biz_photos/shog… [devour] *REAL CRAB SALAD yelp.com/biz_photos/shog… They actually DO use real crab for this salad! It was quite light, refreshing and tangy! Full of sesame, diced up cucumber, shredded radish, sprouts and fresh crab, it was a delightful starter to cleanser our palate for dinner. ($5.95, **3.5 STARS**) *AAA ROLL (Albacore Tuna, Asparagus & Avocado) yelp.com/biz_photos/shog… My eyes were enticed by the name of the roll that I just had to have it! Maybe it was because it also had avocado and you all know how much I love thee! As the name says it all, the AAA roll consists of Albacore tuna, tempura fried asparagus and sliced avocado. There was a nice sweet-soy sauce glaze and caviar which brought this roll to another level as it was very delightful to my taste buds! It was a pleasant surprise to devour this roll, I wouldn't mind eating this one again! ($10.95, **4 STARS**) *CHERRY BLOSSOM ROLL yelp.com/biz_photos/shog… The cherry blossom roll was very cute! It consisted of pieces of tuna, avocado, real crab meat, some macadamia nuts, diced cucumber and caviar. I must say that I like that they put extra effort and use the REAL crab meat instead of artificial ones that you'd find from other Japanese restos. I was quite delighted with the roll and wouldn't mind ordering it again! ($11.95, **4 STARS**) *BURNING LOBSTER ROLL yelp.com/biz_photos/shog… Who wouldn't love lobster in their sushi?! The burning lobster roll had pieces of lobster, crab and other seafood, which was engrossed with avocado, caviar and a rich, mayo-like sauce. Seemed like this roll was something I've seen before at other restos, but it was a decent find. ($11.95, **3.5 STARS**) [service] We were well taken care of by our two waitresses! Our water glasses were always filled and they also accepted several CC's for payment! They were always full of smiles and was able to answer any of the questions we had about their menu. FYI = *Located within the Streets of Tanasbourne shops *Replaced Kojo's (a former Japanese restaurant that wasn't that great) *Near REI, Victorias Secret, Thai Elephant, and Justice *Parking is found on the street or parking structure *You can use the restaurants bathrooms (no need to use the mall's bathroom outside) If you love Yuki's Sushi and Sake in Orenco Station in Hillsboro, then you'll definitely love Shogun! In comparison to Yukis, Shogun's prices are a bit more by a couple dollars, BUT they use fresh crab meat within their rolls. I think it made the rolls a bit more pleasant and authentic. Nonetheless, I'm a fan of both restaurants and highly recommend Shogun! It's a secret surprise! Yelp 2013 100 for 100 Challenge - Review #39

I was happy a new restaurant opened up since it's within walking distance from where I live but the food was disappointing. I may come back though since they are open until 11PM on weekdays while most other restaurants close by 9PM in Hillsboro. They also have a happy hour at the bar after 8 or 9 PM, which is a nice option to have in this area. What I tried: Salmon Teriyaki Bento ($15) with the option of spicy tuna roll. The food wasn't bad but it just wasn't good enough to warrant the price. The fish was also pretty small. Seafood Tofu soup ($11). My friend wanted to get the korean tofu soup since this is a Korean own sushi restaurant, but the soup was flavorless and surprisingly didn't have much tofu in it.

The service and food were good. Although, the water glasses at my table went unfilled after the entrees arrived. I was happy with the distance between tables. Sometimes restaurants pack in patrons like sardines. I felt I was able to have a private conversation at my table. Very nice! I ordered the sunrise roll. I thought it was great that they offer to use real crab in the rolls. I thought it was not so great that it costs extra to do so. Bummer. However, the roll was great as is. My boyfriend ordered the chicken yakisoba. He thought it was pretty good and said it was definitely a good sized portion. I snagged a few bites off his plate - necessary in order to do this review... It seemed a little oily, but I'm not a yakisoba connoisseur. Although I didn't order any, the drinks menu listed a substantial amount of sake to choose from. They have happy hour at night starting at 8:30 pm. This place is definitely on my list the next time I want sushi. So many rolls left for me to try out!

Stopped in here for lunch today. This is a new restaurant in the Streets of Tanasborne. The service was friendly and prompt and the restaurant layout was open. The menu was pretty limited, it was basically just sushi and bento boxes. There were also no beverages on the menu. There is a separate one for sake but we visited at noon and wanted something non-alcoholic. When I asked if they had tea, the waitress tried to show us in the menu what we could choose and seemed puzzled their was no beverage area. We did get some green tea, in a gorgeous cast iron kettle I added a photo of, but it still seemed odd a Japanese food place wouldn't put tea on the menu. The nigiri and Philly roll were good. On par quality for the price. I also appreciate they offer smoked or raw salmon in Philly rolls. Some places just offer smoked and I dislike it that way. My friend enjoyed her bento box and praised the fresh miso soup she got as well. Overall I would likely come here again because the food and service were good. In addition, it was only about $21 for both of us so good value as well.

I have been here several times, and every time I am pleased. Walking in, you are welcomed right away. Today I ordered the chicken Udon, and a tuna roll. The broth for their udon is great, the chicken has a perfect amount of char on it to really set off the flavor. The bowl is a perfect size and full of some great ingredients. Chicken, mushroom, onion, tofu, fish cake, etc. I also had a simple tuna roll with my soup. It was a nice roll with a nice amount of very fresh tuna. If you are in the area and looking for a great place, I'd recommend Shogun. Fast, friendly, and delicious.

Today's the third time I'm here. I love their food. I'm always satisfy and always come back for more. So worth the price for their portions and presentation!! Brought my friend here last time and he fell in love with their food. Without a doubt or hesitation I would always recommend this place. Great job!! Keep it up!

It is actually 3.5 for me, but because of the deal of 10% on order-online (EAT24) & pickup, I don't mind to bump it up. We ordered Pork katsu don and bento combo with Galbi and spicy salmon roll. In general they were good. The only thing I didn't like was the roll that there is no much fish inside:( And although I chose ASAP for the order, they seemed too busy to notice about this online request, so after I arrived, I had to wait 15 minutes, but the advantage was we got the fresh and hot meal.

Best sushi on the westside of Portland... The staff I'd friendly and they always remember what I like. If you like sushi I recommend trying this place out. Service can be slow at times but worth being patient.

Ordered beef donburi. It is pretty salty. Too much soy source. But the way that they cooked egg around onions is pretty amazing. I never had something like this. Ordered some sushi. Can't remember the names. They have really nice wasabi. And they put the house source on top of sushi. Which is kind of interesting. Nice decoration inside this place. At least should take a look at this nice place.

This nice little restaurant has happy hour till 5:30 which is nice. They have a one drink minimum requirement so don't expect a super cheap meal but then again Sapporo/Kirin on tap is usually worth it. We got a spider roll, chicken karage and some ramen. The roll was larger than I expected and the chicken went well with the ramen so I have no complaints. The staff was kind but the kitchen was a bit too slow for my tastes. All in all, I'll probably come back because it is so close to where I live and my experience was mostly positive. Also I have yet another a fancy dancy punch card that I have to try to fill up.

Shogun is one of the more pricier sushi places in Hillsboro when compared to Yukis or Sushi & Maki, but cheaper when compared to Syun. I go to Shogun over the other sushi places because its pretty new, has a large dining room, large sake menu and most importantly, the raw fish tastes really fresh. It's also important to note that while the other sushi places are closed between lunch and dinner, Shogun is open. Besides fish, the ramen is also pretty good. They offer classic ramen broth like miso and shoyu, and includes lots of shitake mushrooms, which I thoroughly enjoy. The cold soba noodles were just average with a bland dipping sauce. A bonus if you dine there a lot is their frequent flier card - for every 100 dollars you spend, you get 10 dollars off your next bill. Its a great deal!

Hmmmm. Not assembly-line-belt-style sushi, but quality managed to somehow take a hit, anyways. Also, the added "bonuses" of being slower--by quite a bit and costlier--by quite a bit than your average conveyor belt joint make it difficult to rate this one higher than a two--- though the assembly line chefs were sufficiently engaging (which is to say, sparingly at best) to consider bumping this one to an utterly unenthused 2.5 stars.... Because Shogun's seafood didn't taste/smell "fishy", but DID taste exactly like when you accidently gulp a mouthful of ocean water----- that DOES constitute questionable quality control, or I'm just hallucinating here, am I? (although when people resort to drinking ocean water, they frequently go a bit dotty, so perhaps this explains my present confusion...) These guys are so close to one place I work, and even deliver, that I'm bound to give 'em another chance before too long. Anyone can have an off day, especially if he's resorted recently to drinking sea water...

The food was great. The service was not good at all. We sat for at least 30 minutes with our finished dinner plates before anyone came by to check on us or take them. I almost started counting how many times our waiter walked by us without checking in. Then he came by and asked if we wanted our bill. We told him we wanted to order desserts, and even then our dinner plates sat. It was just an odd experience with the wait staff. Someone else finally took our dessert order. Our dinner was good. I had the Last Samurai Roll and I would definitely order it again. Cucumber salad was tasty. Had green tea ice cream for dessert. I will go back. Hopefully their wait staff get their act together.

This is a newly opened sushi restaurant near my place. I would say its raw fish is having good quality. I tasted several nigiri, something I order in every sushi place I visited. It is above average. Fish and rice ratio is good. Rice also gives good note and balances well with fish meat. Broiled saba is also nice. Rolls are kind of average level.

The husband and were out shopping and stopped in on a whim around 5:30. I can never pass up a new and nice looking sushi place (they just opened up a few weeks ago). The service was good. Our waitress and sushi chef were very nice and personable too. Since it was our first time in we both ordered our go to choices that everyone seems to carry. He got a glass of sopporo, agedashi tofu, and albacore nigiri. The tofu was cooked up the way he liked it and the broth actually came on the side, which we hadn't seen done before. The nigiri came out as the sushi chef recommended, lightly seared with a bit of spices on top. The husband loved it! The chef was very meticulous compared with some other sushi chefs I've seen in the area. He took his time plating the items and even put garnishes of flower shaped carrots and cucumber. Awesome! I ordered the california roll. I forgot to order it with real crab, but it turned out pretty great anyways! I've had a lot of california rolls in the states but this was the best one I've had with crab substitute. I also enjoyed a bowl of vegetable udon. It tasted about how I expected it to and the noodles had the perfect chewy texture, not overcooked in any way. Overall a good time. They had an extensive menu so we'll be back to try some of the other dishes on the menu

I have been to this place 20 times. I love the Miso Ramen and the Champong spicy seafood soup. The Yellow fin tail sushi is top flight, and they make a nice cucumber salad with a light dressing that is excellent to start with. Service is great, wide vairiety of things to choose from. The chain PF Changs kept telling me they would be offering sushi in the future, and liked my idea of making a spicy seafood soup but nadda, I am done with them. Their Rewards cards is a joke, spend a $100.00 and get 10% your next meal. Shogun is my new place in that area now.

So this is the fifth or sixth sushi restaurant I have tried in the Beaverton/Hillsboro area and I have to say this is the best so far! Sushi is fresh and service is fast and friendly. Price is very reasonable for what you get and the special rolls are stuffed with fish, not filler. LOVE it. I recommend the Last Samurai and Sakura roll, yum!

The food here is delicious albeit a bit overpriced. However the service has always been fairly sub-par. We eat here every so often and have had items we've ordered forgotten nearly every time. Also, the calamari tempura was waaaay overlooked. Very rubbery. Still, it's conveniently close to where we live and when we want some really high quality sushi and good atmosphere, it's a great choice.

While shopping we noticed that there was a sushi place. I always love trying new places so we went into check it out. We were greeted right away and shown the take out menu since we needed it to go. Prices are good and you can choose from real or fake crab meat for a little more we chose the real meat. After placing the order the sushi chef worked on our order right away! We waited a few minutes top for our order. The quickest service I have ever experienced! And the sushi was amazing. They also have happy hour which I will be going to very soon. Yet another sushi place on my list. love it!

I came here on Sunday for a coworker lunch adventure! He was craving ramen, so I had to abide like a good dude does. We were a little disappointed about the lack of lunch special on Sundays, but we had work discounts to make up for it. Both of our entrees came with standard fare salad and miso soup, which were both refreshing. He ordered a salmon handroll, which was stuff full of salmon. It was practically an seaweed ice cream cone stuffed with salmon and a little rice. I was salmon with envy (get it?). He didn't enjoy the shoyu ramen as much, noting the broth was lacking and his poor hard boiled egg was cook a little too long. My glorious meal was the spicy chirashi (see photo), which probably contained all of the fish they had at hand on a bed of crunchy lettuce. A bowl of rice, Kochujang, and sesame oil was offered on the side for maximum customization. The fish was very fresh, making lunch feel like heaven for 7 minutes. And I didn't even have to be in a closet! I would say definitely come here for the fish, but pass on the ramen (based on my coworker's opinion). It's a touch expensive, but the quality of the fish will not disappoint.

This one is hard. The food is great, the chefs are amazing. One waitress in particular is terrible. She bad mouths other guests to guests and just has an entitled attitude, she is also not very nice to the rest of the staff. One of my best friends, who is Japanese, does not like this place because in Japanese culture, to bring plates out individually rather than for the entire table is considered "rude" or "bad-form".

I eat here a lot as I intern in the area. Pretty much any day that I go out to grab lunch, you'll see me here. Their miso soup is amazing, I brought my brother (who is a connoisseur of high end Bay Area sushi restaurants) here and he said that their miso soup is up there with the best. Additionally, I can't recommend their bento boxes enough! You get 2 Gyoza, salad, an entree, rice, and a side dish of your choice (I usually go for California rolls or assorted tempura) for about $10 and the portions are perfect. I've also had their Sushi platters as well as their specialty rolls. Can't find a single bum dish in the house. Literally everything that I've had so far has been great. My personal favorite special roll is the PDX Roll. They're also on Eat24, so if you're in a hurry, you can put in your order early and they'll have it ready for you. Their staff is superb. The moment you walk in, several member of the staff greet you and you're seated in no time. They are attentive but not hovering and they're always there to address anything that you need. They're also well versed in their menu and can always answer questions that you may have. Service is fast and well timed. When you finish up your Miso Soup, your main dish is brought to you within a few minutes. I've never found myself idly waiting for very long. The atmosphere is good. There are basically 3 sections, one with couches on the wall, the sushi bar, and the other with tables. The servers can push the tables together on the couch section to make a big table, which is great for groups. The lights are slightly dimmed and there's always soft music playing. I highly recommend this place, it doesn't get the attention that it deserves! If you're ever in the Streets of Tanasbourne area, drop in and give this place a try!!

Sushi edible art! We ordered sushi and a few bento boxes for the kids. Everything was really good and fresh. The decor was nice and the people were friendly and nice. For some time we were the only customers in there at dinner time and that surprised me because they have large t.v.'s and plenty of open tables. I will have to try this place again although it is on the fancy high priced side so I'm guessing thats why.

This place is what used to be Kojo's. DH and I went here the other day for lunch, before the holidays and let me tell you. yummo yum. I love thier succelent sushi. If I had any complaints it would be the the staff is on top of you 24/7. I don't mind an occasional check in, but standing by you and running up to you every 5 sec.. let me a little peace please at least.. I admire they take the time to make sure your meal is A ok but just not in such rapid intervals. Overall, very pleased and glad a similar restaurant went in over here. This is great by DH's work and a great place for lunch. I would definitely go back. The fish selection was quite delectable!

Great lunch box...plenty of food. Nice spicy tuna. Great miso soup Good assortment s. Good spicy pork. Ryan the sushi master is skill and even though he was busy chit chatted with me. Julia welcomed me at the Door and help me choose what would be best for me. Great tea. The tiramisu... well I do not know what I was thinking getting an Italian dessert in an Japanese restaurant. But overall a good place.

Food isn't bad, but far too expensive for my cheap ass. I come from a far away land where all you can eat sushi is the norm and being expected to pay 10-18 bucks for a single roll was mortifying. I ordered an 8 dollar mixed drink that came in what could be charitably described as a "large thimble" and didn't even have the decency to get me drunk. I ordered a bento and it was probably the best bang for my buck.

Today's the third time I'm here. I love their food. I'm always satisfy and always come back for more. So worth the price for their portions and presentation!! Brought my friend here last time and he fell in love with their food. Without a doubt or hesitation I would always recommend this place. Great job!! Keep it up!

Best sushi on the westside of Portland... The staff I'd friendly and they always remember what I like. If you like sushi I recommend trying this place out. Service can be slow at times but worth being patient.

We have frequented this place more than a dozen times and only to order their Katsu pork curry. Generous portion with the right taste and a great ambiance to boot. Their kids meal is a little crazy though in price, about $8-$9.

The sushi itself was absolutely amazing. Very fresh & they had a lot of combos that I've never seen anywhere else. The Last Samurai roll was one of the best rolls I've ever had. The reason for the 3 stars is due to the fact that the service was non existent. Once our servers delivered the food, they literally sat at empty tables on their phone for the rest of the time we were there. Never came to check on us, or ask if we needed anything else. We tried multiple times to get their attention but to no avail & finally had to get up to get boxes & our check.

came here on a weekday during lunch and enjoyed pretty decent rolls prices are a bit steep but the taste of some of their rolls were pretty good, not the best but better than most. service is good and the chef works quickly and efficiently. if you have a hankering for sushi and you're in the area, this place can satisfy your craving

This place was such an unexpected bonus! Since I'm always craving sushi, I need more options that Mio and the others that are close to my house, since they all close at 9 and I don't eat on a schedule. We found it on our way to the Rock for a last minute dinner on Tuesday. "Do you feel like sushi?"- "Um, yeah, always!" Prompt seating and beverages, great service that was quiet and gave us a ton of space, without being overly absent. Prices are on point with similar spots, and the sushi was good. Flavorful, fresh, attractive. My only 2 complaints, that were minor; not the best miso soup. I ate it, but definitely was disappointed. The Harmony roll was delicious, but really unevenly cut. I didn't mind and I still ate ALL of it, it was just a bit messy to do so. We'll return for sure, and it's a great backup option.

I love love love this place so much! When I lived in this area I would frequent it quite often and I would always take my out-of-state family and friends when they were visiting. However, it's not enough for me to stop going there. Best sushi ever.

Maybe it was because it was 3:30 and I hadn't eaten since breakfast, but I thought the sushi here was really good and my daughter loved her selections as well. We sat at an indoor table near the wide-open doors leading onto the patio seating and it was just a beautiful day. Service was spot on and here's the food items we can vouch for: --Shrimp tempura ($2 for each piece) My daughter rates places on the shrimp tempura and this got two thumb's up. --Miso soup ($1.50) Quite good --Inari: My daughter's other favorite (sweet rice wrapped in bean curd) --Fatty salmon belly sushi ($5.50) This was FANTASTIC and the fish was so fresh, it reminded me of Crazy Sushi in Sherwood, which is the best out there --Fatty yellowtail sushi ($5.50) Was also good, but not as melt-in-your-mouth perfect as the fatty salmon belly --California Roll ($4.50) My daughter's 3rd standard item. She thought it rocked. --Sunrise roll with tuna, salmon and mango: Good. I'll get more regular sushi next time. Only complaint? 50 cents for each soda refill. Why? The markup on soda from a fountain is HUGE. No need to nickel and dime folks on that item. But regardless, I'd return here any day. Wish it was closer to home.

Great food, a menu with a wide spectrum of choices and it wasn't too noisy. We were hankering for a noodle soup and some sushi and this restaurant filled the bill exactly. As I said, the menu was ample enough that it offered sushi, sashimi, ramen soup, and some other Japanese dishes that I have never heard before. Everything was delicious and the portions were just right. We have become fans of this place.

Good lord that is one of the crappiest meals I have attempted to eat in a long ass time. We did not want to cook so we ordered via Delivered Dish. I ordered the Kitty #1 off the children's menu. Katsu Chicken, Shrimp Tempura and Tamago Eggs. It also came with pathetic white rice and Miso which I did not care for. They did not include any Katsu Sauce with my entree, so I dipped my chicken in Hubby's salad dressing. I had no idea what Tamago Eggs were and I found it was Egg wrapped in Rice then Seaweed (which I do not like) It was just gross overall. Not impressed. Most of my meal went to the Dog, she seemed to like it. Hubby ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Bento, again not impressed. The salad is mostly Iceberg Lettuce, same lame Miso Soup. Pot Stickers out of a bag, and Spicy Tuna. He indicated the Spicy Tuna was neither spicy nor had much tuna in it. The only decent thing on his plate was the Teriyaki Chicken and the salad dressing. We for certain will never order from here again. Maybe it is better in person, but somehow I doubt it, and it is not cheap!

I had lunch here yesterday. It had quieted down from the lunch time crowd. I was greeted by several staff & seated immediately. I ordered shrimp yakisoba noodles & California roll (I admit like sushi but haven't tried many kinds as of yet) the meal came quickly. Awesome. The roll was great! The shrimp yakisoba dish was not so much. I had to use more soy sauce than I should have to give it flavor & the shrimp however large & appealing looking they looked were undercooked. Since all the staff were so sweet & efficient though I didn't send it back, didn't have the heart :-). Maybe at a sushi place the meats ate supposed to be undercooked? IDK. That's why I gave 4 stars.

Fried ice cream - a must have (esp mango flavoured one). I had the bento box (miso, gyozo, tempura, rice & salad) with katzu & California rolls...good experience. The food was very tasty and the presentation was extremely pleasing. Their portion is quite filling and for $14...one can have a good amount of Japanese food, a rarity! The outside seating is nice as one can enjoy the sun, watch the children playing at the fountain and enjoy tasty Japanese delicacies. The staff wasn't so great..not rude but yet won't make you feel welcomed!

I ordered from this restaurant via Delivered Dish. I wish I could get my money back. We ordered the Katsu Donburi dinner and the Spicy Teriyaki Chicken dinner, plus the Vegetable Tempura appetizer. The chicken that they use was filled with large gristle and was both dark/white meat. Not appetizing at all. Plus, the Spicy Teriyaki chicken was more like a stir-fry and used so cabbage and veggies as filler so that there was barely any chicken. The sauces tasted good and the tempura vegetables were yummy. The miso soup tasted good as well. I would recommend for them to use ONLY white meat chicken, cut out the gristle pieces, and don't skimp on it for the teriyaki dishes. I would also recommend that they put a FULL description of the dishes on their menu.

This place is OK, just a bit pricey for the quantity. Chirashi was disappointing, which is typically the go-to dish at a sushi restaurant. The pieces were paper thin. The sushi deluxe was very good. I would order it again. Spicy tuna was spicy and very good. Saba shioyaki and tempura were good. There are just subtle details that they need to change in order to have repeat customers. First, don't be cheap and charge $2.50 for green tea. You should also charge for ice water too. The staff is not that friendly and looked like they really don't want to be there. This is what dropped from 4 stars to 3 stars. It's much better than the previous Japanese restaurant in that location. I think it's a great addition to the shopping mall, which tends to lack good restaurants.

Really nice people but I didn't care for the food. The beef teriyaki was really beef bulgogi which is fine but not what I wanted. The miso was so-so and the rest just nit that great. But once again really nice owners and I hate to be mean but they need to up the food quality a bit.

The food was great - hence the two stars. Service is equally important and it fell short 4-5 times throughout our dinner experience. The big fail was when we ordered sake and the waiter came back to say that they were out of the Oregon sake we had selected. He proceeded to point out another option on "the shelf" which I took to mean would you like this one instead? I said "yes, if that is similar, we would like that one." 10min later I asked the other waitress if the sake was on the way and she replied that there was no order placed for sake. We cancelled it. Finished our meal, tipped the standard for dinner and when we left the very slow dining room, we did not so much as receive a "thank you" or "goodnight." Won't be back.

This place has pretty good sushi considering the price. My friend and I had their chirashi bowl, and nigri plate. Most of the fish was really good in the bowl. I would recommend this place if you are in in the Streets shopping, and craving sushi. The staff is friendly, and the place is clean. I would recommend others to give this place a try. It's not the best, but it's good enough.

3.5 Bento baby. This is how we fortified ourselves before shoe shopping at REI for Princess, who needed sports sandals ASAP. Shoe shopping with her kinda sucks. I tried to flip a coin with hubby to see who'd do it alone but he was having none of that. Oh no. We all have to go. Spoilsport. Anyway I strategized dinner first so she'd be in a better mood and we met here for an early meal.It is conveniently located near REI and has outdoor tables or seating inside with outside breezes if you like. I like how the doors open up. We were inside and outside at the same time! Its a pretty little place. Pleasant servers. Water in carafes on the table. I love that. All the bento boxes come with miso (good), icebergy salad with a mayonaissey dressing ( eh), rice (fine), 2 chicken gyoza ( from frozen probably but tasty enough but they had sauce already on them which made them soggy...bah!), a tempura shrimp and two tempura veggies...hubby calls that veggie roulette since he hates most tempura veggies. I liked them but they needed a little salt and a better dipping sauce. We swapped with each other trying to get what we wanted. Carrot, potato, yam, zucchini, acorn "squish" as my family calls it... not with affection. Besides the predetermined contents of the bento you choose a main thing and a sushi item from the list. Options are good. Princess had teriyaki salmon and inari ( subbed in for fish sushi). Hubby had chicken yakisoba and spicy tuna roll ( that was *really* good he gave me a piece) and I had miso glazed black cod ( tiny but delicious) and nigiri. 3 small but tasty nigiri. I thought this was a good experience. Princess also loved her deep fried green tea ice cream. Our bento boxes ranged from $12.95 to $15.95. They do have a kids menu. ( Salmon is not on it but salmon is NEVER on the kids menu ).Their sushi rolls looked good too ( we saw a Cancun roll go by that looked amazing). There were only a few histrionics at REI this time. Whew. I credit the Bento. But next time I will have a cocktail. They have those too.

So we've tried this place a number of times since they opened a couple years ago and have found them inconsistent. When we've gone in, we've had parts of the order forgotten and the same dish prepared noticeably different from visit to visit. We have probably just given up though after placing an order tonight for pickup (through yelp) and 2 of the 4 entrees were wrong. The order was correct on the receipt, and yet the kitchen still got it wrong. I would love for them to be better as they are near my house and have a great looking restaurant. Just need to get the human error under control.

I was happy too come and try this place out. Saw the menu which is quite extensive. Plenty too choose from. Presentation and quality was great. The service was OK, had too get my own plate. That's not why I wrote this, if you have a discount perks card beware of added gratuity, for +1 or more it doesn't say that on site. Other than that enjoy your not discounted check.

Just stopped in to get a California roll, the roll was falling apart when I tried to pick it up, didn't care for it, won't be going back. Staff was friendly though.

Sake sampler!?! :-) fantastic sushi, delicious and artistic! The staff is so friendly and major points for being open all day.

We have frequented this place more than a dozen times and only to order their Katsu pork curry. Generous portion with the right taste and a great ambiance to boot. Their kids meal is a little crazy though in price, about $8-$9.

This place will rip you off. Make sure you pay cash. Food wasn't even that good! Service suck!!!!!!!!

My husband and I were here for the first time on Saturday night and it was so good that we were back only two days later! If you know how to flag down a server, you'll be alright here (I'll admit that getting someone to take your order could be frustrating, but it's just a matter of getting someone's attention). The food is done so quick that it's incredible-- I hardly have time to finish my salad and soup before my appetizer is there, and I hardly have time to finish my appetizer before my meal is there (which doesn't bother me one bit-- I don't like to be kept waiting). I'm partial to the BBQ Teriyaki Chicken dinner and Shrimp Tempura appetizer and my husband gets some kind of bowl of raw fish with rice, which he loves. He also really enjoys their rolls. Everything about this place was excellent, especially having gone in on a Saturday night and finding a place to sit and eat! We will definitely be back frequently (though hopefully not quite so often... but that requires self-discipline!)

Really slow service and very mediocre food. Plus the mojito tasted like Sweet N Low sugar water. Next time, we will get mini corn dogs from Buffalo Wild Wings.

Shogun has the best sushi I town. The sushi chef is very good at making fresh sushi. I always ask for the sushi surprise. The fish they use taste very fresh.

My husband and I were excited to try this place but unfortunately we left feeling disappointed and a little hungry. The service was fine and the sushi tasted fine. But I feel like the rolls were expensive for how small they were. Like I said they tasted fine but not great. Everything was a bit bland.

(4)

Got fresh. Nice people..good price. Try last samurai..number one selling in this place.
(5)
Amanda R.

Yet another sushi place on my list. love it!

Their sashimi... soooo soft! I love hamachi toro. I've tried their... Sushi: rainbow roll, paradise Sashimi: Uni, salmon, hamachi, hamachi toro Noodles: Natto ramen, udon Very delicious! On the other hand... their service is a bit slow, but they're friendly!

Just found this place two nights ago and this was our second night. The presentation was beautiful and fresh ! I give this place 5 stars after two nights in a row of great sushi! This was called Sashimi Surprise!

They recommended the PCX - so good! Not to mention the large beer I got was practically a pitcher. All of the sushi we tried was really good. Would recommend. Definitely going back again.

Be ready to ask for your drink three times but, the sushi is usually worth it.

tried a few dishes; really liked the poke tuna dish and shrimp sumai. Beaver fever roll was ok. when we visited business was slow and so was the serviceat the end; when we were finished after 20mins we had to ask for our check. (Otherwise service was OK)

Best sushi I ever had, rice was perfect and the fish taste amazing. The chef makes sure every dish comes out amazing. I cant say anything about the service like others do, but when i personally go to a place to eat i go there for the food not the service. In my opinion, service was great! Go eat there.

Really slow service and very mediocre food. Plus the mojito tasted like Sweet N Low sugar water. Next time, we will get mini corn dogs from Buffalo Wild Wings.

I work close by and this is my go to sushi restaurant . The food is always wonderful and the staff is very quick and eager to help. It is a little pricy , but you get what you pay for . There spicy tuna and crunchy rolls are wonderful

I am a HUGE fan of tempura so I always ordered the Samurai roll and I was never ever disappointed. One downside is that they are a tad bit slow on their service.

We have frequented this place more than a dozen times and only to order their Katsu pork curry. Generous portion with the right taste and a great ambiance to boot. Their kids meal is a little crazy though in price, about $8-$9.

(3)Duy M.
good sushi, good happy hour, good service. we had: the spicy salmon roll, tempura shrimp roll, chicken kaarage and mussels. All were good, be your own judge.

tried a few dishes; really liked the poke tuna dish and shrimp sumai. Beaver fever roll was ok. when we visited business was slow and so was the serviceat the end; when we were finished after 20mins we had to ask for our check. (Otherwise service was OK)

Been here multiple times, and for every new dish I tried I've been more than impressed.
(4)Chelsea H.

I would give no star if i can
(1)First L.
Best sushi I ever had, rice was perfect and the fish taste amazing. The chef makes sure every dish comes out amazing. I cant say anything about the service like others do, but when i personally go to a place to eat i go there for the food not the service. In my opinion, service was great! Go eat there.
(5)Megan T.

(3)Brandi F.
(4)Erica L.
(4)Marc K.
(4)Anabel H.
Today's the third time I'm here. I love their food. I'm always satisfy and always come back for more. So worth the price for their portions and presentation!! Brought my friend here last time and he fell in love with their food. Without a doubt or hesitation I would always recommend this place. Great job!! Keep it up!
(5)Kathy C.
(4)James S.
Best sushi on the westside of Portland... The staff I'd friendly and they always remember what I like. If you like sushi I recommend trying this place out. Service can be slow at times but worth being patient.
(5)Qinglan X.
(3)Brandon T.

(2)Don C.
Just found this place two nights ago and this was our second night. The presentation was beautiful and fresh ! I give this place 5 stars after two nights in a row of great sushi! This was called Sashimi Surprise!
(5)Kristin T.
They recommended the PCX - so good! Not to mention the large beer I got was practically a pitcher. All of the sushi we tried was really good. Would recommend. Definitely going back again.
(5)Deonne K.

(4)Jordan M.

(5)James M.
(4)Tadakatsu N.
I ate sushi bowl and it was very authentic and unique. The staffs were very kind and service was quick. I also tried lunch menu. I strongly recommend to check out this cool restaurant.
(5)Arcii R.
(4)T D.
(3)Stephanie J.
I work close by and this is my go to sushi restaurant . The food is always wonderful and the staff is very quick and eager to help. It is a little pricy , but you get what you pay for . There spicy tuna and crunchy rolls are wonderful
(4)Dan L.
Here for their happy hours. Their HH menu have changed, no more miso ramen and all items on HH do not have valve over regular menu. A bit disappointed with their HH menu changed for the worse.
(2)M W.
Yet another sushi place on my list. love it!
(5)Ehow C.
(4)J N.
(4)Connie F.
(5)Leslie F.
This place was delicious, but a tad overpriced.
(3)Mike O.
At least as good or better than other sushi I've had. Good service and atmosphere. I recommend this over any other in West Portland/Beaverton area.
(4)Jessica B.
(5)Elisa S.
Ehhh. This place was just 'okay' when it comes to sushi. The service was amazing and very courteous. But the sushi was bland. Pretty to look at but that's it.
(3)Gillian W.
(4)Janet S.
(4)Adriana R.
I ordered spicy chicken and sushi. I was very disappointed that it was bland and the sushi was mediocre. It is expensive for poor quality food. There are definitely better places in the area. I will not be coming back.
(1)Francois P.
(4)Bea M.

Great job!! Keep it up!
(5)Chelsea H.
(3)Raja S.

Best sushi on the westside of Portland... The staff I'd friendly and they always remember what I like. If you like sushi I recommend trying this place out. Service can be slow at times but worth being patient.

(4)Kathy C.
(4)Brandon T.

(3)Qinglan X.
(3)James M.
(4)Tadakatsu N.
I ate sushi bowl and it was very authentic and unique. The staffs were very kind and service was quick. I also tried lunch menu. I strongly recommend to check out this cool restaurant.
(5)Anouk R.
(2)Eric C.
I would give no star if i can
(1)First L.
Best sushi I ever had, rice was perfect and the fish taste amazing. The chef makes sure every dish comes out amazing. I cant say anything about the service like others do, but when i personally go to a place to eat i go there for the food not the service. In my opinion, service was great! Go eat there.
(5)Megan T.
My husband and I were excited to try this place but unfortunately we left feeling disappointed and a little hungry. The service was fine and the sushi tasted fine. But I feel like the rolls were expensive for how small they were. Like I said they tasted fine but not great. Everything was a bit bland.
(3)Kristina N.
(5)Arcii R.
(4)Alice H.
We have frequented this place more than a dozen times and only to order their Katsu pork curry. Generous portion with the right taste and a great ambiance to boot. Their kids meal is a little crazy though in price, about $8-$9.
(4)Amanda R.
(3)Faye F.
came here on a weekday during lunch and enjoyed pretty decent rolls prices are a bit steep but the taste of some of their rolls were pretty good, not the best but better than most. service is good and the chef works quickly and efficiently. if you have a hankering for sushi and you're in the area, this place can satisfy your craving
(3)Jo R.
(4)Stefani S.
I love love love this place so much! When I lived in this area I would frequent it quite often and I would always take my out-of-state family and friends when they were visiting. I am a HUGE fan of tempura so I always ordered the Samurai roll and I was never ever disappointed. One downside is that they are a tad bit slow on their service. However, it's not enough for me to stop going there. Best sushi ever.
(5)Monica P.
This place has some of the best sushi that I've ever had! They have great wasabi, too!
(5)Erin O.

Shogun has the best sushi I town. The sushi chef is very good at making fresh sushi. I always ask for the sushi surprise. The fish they use taste very fresh.
(5)Jorge R.
(4)Cheryl D.
(2)Matt W.
Really slow service and very mediocre food. Plus the mojito tasted like Sweet N Low sugar water. Next time, we will get mini corn dogs from Buffalo Wild Wings.
(2)Ado M.
(4)Proma C.
(4)Christina C.
(2)Ryan Y.
(3)Emmagene T.
Sake sampler!?! :-) fantastic sushi, delicious and artistic! The staff is so friendly and major points for being open all day.
(4)Elizabeth H.
Just stopped in to get a California roll, the roll was falling apart when I tried to pick it up, didn't care for it, won't be going back. Staff was friendly though.
(2)Chris O.
Really nice people but I didn't care for the food. The beef teriyaki was really beef bulgogi which is fine but not what I wanted. The miso was so-so and the rest just nit that great. But once again really nice owners and I hate to be mean but they need to up the food quality a bit.
(3)Vanessa S.
(2)Jennifer L.

My wife and I discovered this place about a year ago. We come here often but we are still working our way around the menu. So far everything we have tried has been fantastic. The atmosphere is also very good.
(5)Evan B.
(2)Jefferson I.

(5)Jorge R.
(4)Proma C.
(4)Christina C.

My husband and I were excited to try this place but unfortunately we left feeling disappointed and a little hungry. The service was fine and the sushi tasted fine. But I feel like the rolls were expensive for how small they were. Like I said they tasted fine but not great. Everything was a bit bland.
(3)Arcii R.
(4)Ryan H.
Got fresh. Nice people..good price. Try last samurai..number one selling in this place.
(5)Amanda R.
(3)Faye F.
came here on a weekday during lunch and enjoyed pretty decent rolls prices are a bit steep but the taste of some of their rolls were pretty good, not the best but better than most. service is good and the chef works quickly and efficiently. if you have a hankering for sushi and you're in the area, this place can satisfy your craving
(3)Jo R.
(4)Greg T.
My wife and I discovered this place about a year ago. We come here often but we are still working our way around the menu. So far everything we have tried has been fantastic. The atmosphere is also very good.
(5)Jefferson I.
(2)Evan B.
(2)T D.
(2)Kristina N.
(5)James M.
(4)Tadakatsu N.
I ate sushi bowl and it was very authentic and unique. The staffs were very kind and service was quick. I also tried lunch menu. I strongly recommend to check out this cool restaurant.
(5)Anouk R.
(2)M W.
Yet another sushi place on my list. love it!
(5)Jessica B.
(5)Elisa S.
Ehhh. This place was just 'okay' when it comes to sushi. The service was amazing and very courteous. But the sushi was bland. Pretty to look at but that's it.
(3)Ehow C.
(4)J N.
(4)Janet S.
(4)Connie F.
(5)Mike O.
At least as good or better than other sushi I've had. Good service and atmosphere. I recommend this over any other in West Portland/Beaverton area.
(4)Leslie F.
This place was delicious, but a tad overpriced.
(3)Gillian W.
(4)Adriana R.
I ordered spicy chicken and sushi. I was very disappointed that it was bland and the sushi was mediocre. It is expensive for poor quality food. There are definitely better places in the area. I will not be coming back.
(1)Francois P.
(4)Chelsea H.
(3)Bea M.
(3)Raja S.
(3)Jenny H.
(3)Brandi F.
(4)Erica L.

Best sushi on the westside of Portland... The staff I'd friendly and they always remember what I like. If you like sushi I recommend trying this place out. Service can be slow at times but worth being patient.
(5)Marc K.
(4)Anabel H.
Today's the third time I'm here. I love their food. I'm always satisfy and always come back for more. So worth the price for their portions and presentation!! Brought my friend here last time and he fell in love with their food. Without a doubt or hesitation I would always recommend this place. Great job!! Keep it up!
(5)Kathy C.
(4)Brandon T.

(4)Eric C.

(3)Melanie C.
(4)Josie V.
This place is offer fairly good sushi in a nice environment. It's convenient for both my husband and I when we are lazy and don't want to make dinner. It's even more convenient for him because it's a 5 minute walk from his work place. Their lunch specials are well priced, too.
(4)Rebekah V.
Top notch sushi. But the service is terrible. Be ready to ask for your drink three times but, the sushi is usually worth it.
(3)Duy M.
good sushi, good happy hour, good service. we had: the spicy salmon roll, tempura shrimp roll, chicken kaarage and mussels. All were good, be your own judge.
(5)Walter M.
tried a few dishes; really liked the poke tuna dish and shrimp sumai. Beaver fever roll was ok. when we visited business was slow and so was the serviceat the end; when we were finished after 20mins we had to ask for our check. (Otherwise service was OK)
(4)Qinglan X.
(3)A G.
Been here multiple times, and for every new dish I tried I've been more than impressed.
(4)First L.
Best sushi I ever had, rice was perfect and the fish taste amazing. The chef makes sure every dish comes out amazing. I cant say anything about the service like others do, but when i personally go to a place to eat i go there for the food not the service. In my opinion, service was great! Go eat there.
(5)Cheryl D.
(2)Matt W.
Really slow service and very mediocre food. Plus the mojito tasted like Sweet N Low sugar water. Next time, we will get mini corn dogs from Buffalo Wild Wings.
(2)Ado M.
(4)Proma C.
(4)Christina C.
(2)Ryan Y.
(2)Jennifer L.

My wife and I discovered this place about a year ago. We come here often but we are still working our way around the menu. So far everything we have tried has been fantastic. The atmosphere is also very good.
(5)Evan B.
(2)Jefferson I.
(2)T D.
(2)M W.

(4)J N.
(4)Connie F.
(5)Leslie F.
This place was delicious, but a tad overpriced.
(3)Mike O.
At least as good or better than other sushi I've had. Good service and atmosphere. I recommend this over any other in West Portland/Beaverton area.
(4)Jessica B.
(5)Elisa S.
Ehhh. This place was just 'okay' when it comes to sushi. The service was amazing and very courteous. But the sushi was bland. Pretty to look at but that's it.
(3)Gillian W.
(4)Janet S.
(4)Adriana R.
I ordered spicy chicken and sushi. I was very disappointed that it was bland and the sushi was mediocre. It is expensive for poor quality food. There are definitely better places in the area. I will not be coming back.
(1)Francois P.
(4)Bea M.
(3)Jo R.
(5)Erin O.

Shogun has the best sushi I town. The sushi chef is very good at making fresh sushi. I always ask for the sushi surprise. The fish they use taste very fresh.
(5)Jorge R.
(4)Amanda R.
(3)Alice H.
We have frequented this place more than a dozen times and only to order their Katsu pork curry. Generous portion with the right taste and a great ambiance to boot. Their kids meal is a little crazy though in price, about $8-$9.
(4)Faye F.
came here on a weekday during lunch and enjoyed pretty decent rolls prices are a bit steep but the taste of some of their rolls were pretty good, not the best but better than most. service is good and the chef works quickly and efficiently. if you have a hankering for sushi and you're in the area, this place can satisfy your craving
