As I work across the street, I get their Lunch Special to go about 1-3 times a week. Never disappoints. The chicken is juicy and tender, the rice is great, and they have a "thick" teriyaki sauce that is wonderful, dip your gyoza in it and you'll never look back to the thin sauce. The girls that run the front are awesome, friendly, and caring. Really, before I found this place I wasn't a Teriyaki fan at all, but now I'm hooked. Highly HIGHLY recommended.

This is some great basic food and inexpensive for lunch. The staff is great and cute. I go here once a week. Its on my permanent list.

Definitely a fan. Love their stir fry veggies and tofu but their chicken teriyaki with gyoza is not too bad either! This place is always clean and while the line at lunch can be long, the wait never is.

Nara is by no means the best or most authentic Teriyaki, but for $6.25 on the lunch special it is amazing. You get not only some pretty decent chicken and rice as usual, but an egg roll and a salad. A good stand by for the Intel crowd ($.50 discount with your badge) and very satisfying

My boyfriend and I come here a lot because the food is good and the prices are decent, and the gal who is at the counter just about every time we come is so sweet. I'm partial to the Dinner Bento. For $8.50 you get miso soup, teriyaki chicken, white rice, salad, gyoza, and shrimp shumai. After living in Japan for so many years I miss miso soup sometimes, so this is a treat. We will miss Nara Teriyaki when my boyfriend moves.

Absolutely delicious teriyaki, and wonderful help, and very inexpensive. I would recommend the chicken teriyaki (dark meat) over the white meat version. Even my wife, who much prefers white meat chicken, thinks the dark meat version is much better. Whether you get take out or dine in, you should be very happy with your experience. They take Visa and Mastercard.

Was referred to me by a friend...her lunch snowed so good. It was a good deal $6.75 for traditional chicken teriyaki plate with LOTS of chicken and rice. Quiet atmosphere, got it to go and before I could finish snap chat they brought my food. They were fabulous. The gal behind the counter also recommended the number 5: spicy chicken! I will totally be back and try it next time. Oh and the food was freaking fabulous. Chicken was something I haven't quite tasted since I was a kid, in my favorite hole int the wall. This place rocks!

This is not the best food I've ever had, but for the price and the wait time, I'm extremely satisfied. This is particularly close to the Jones Farm campus at Intel...which explains why they give a discount to Intel employees. I'm a contractor and still get the discount, so yay! The teriyaki is quite good, the meat is cooked well, and the extras are done right. I have no complaints, I was glad to eat lunch here a few times so far, and I hope to do so again soon.

Best Chicken Fried Rice! Best Egg Rolls! And the food is Excellent. Best in Hillsboro.

I really debated between one and and two stars when rating this restaurant. The reason I ultimately did one is because of the cleanliness. When visiting the bathroom the doors and knobs leading to the bathroom made feel a little sick. I thought about going back into my car to get hand sanitizer, but since I wasn't eating with my hands and avoided touching the REALLY brown areas, and could probably use the immune booster I ultimately thought I would be okay. The food portions were large, the service was fast, the tofu was nice and soft, and the veggie selection was nice. I wouldn't necessarily choose to go again, and if I was in a car with people who wanted to go I would opt to bring hand sanitizer and avoid the bathrooms... although... what does that mean the kitchen looks like? eeeekk!!

Food was okay. Service was ok. Prices were ok. Ambiance was ok. Everything was just ok. Nothing bad about this place so I will eat here again but nothing wowed me either so it might takes months to be drawn back in. With so many teriyaki places around its hard to really stand out unless you're terrible. Then you stand out in a bad way. But this place was good. Nothing to get excited about though.

This was the first experience I have had where Yelp was wrong. I have no idea why this place has good reviews. The location was dismal; dirty with an open garbage can at one end where everyone dumped their leftovers while busing their own table. We ordered chicken teriyaki, goyza, orange chicken, and hot and sour soup. It was all very salty, but still bland, and the lettuce was soaking wet. The hot and sour soup was especially terrible; quite bitter. Sorry to say, extremely disappointed.

They recently added two new dishes. One is sundubu jjigge (spicy tofu soup) which is really good. The other is dolsot bibimbop (hot stone mixed rice with vegetables) and I'm so glad they added this one to their menu. It's hard to find decent Korean food around this area and bibimbop is one of my favorite Korean dishes. They use stone bowl and it's just right. Their galbi is my all time favorite as well. Check them out if you haven't visited this place recently.

Sitting on my couch thinking "Am I eating Heaven?" This is seriously some delicious food. The appearance of this establishment is misleading. It's in a shopping center so naturally I assumed it'd be just okay but I'm pretty impressed. The only reason I don't give it five stars is because I am extremely picky about my meat and fat contents. I like no fat whatsoever but I realize it's crazy to expect that lean of a dish for the price (too much work, too pricey?). This place though had much leaner meat that any other place I've gone to so far so I'm impressed to say the least. Kudos!

Just what I wanted, and quick! Good teriyaki chicken and rice. Nice side salad, the ranch was a little strange of a flavor combo. Good gyozas. Better portions than Mashita #5 in NW PDX, my go-to teriyaki joint. Free hot tea was nice on a cold night! You don't go here for the decor or ambiance, but the price is right. Just how I like it.

Back to Nara, ordered Tofu yakisoba with half the noodles and twice the veggies. It took a little while longer to get than usual, I think it was the tofu that did it. When I got it back to work and unwrapped it, there was a TON of big cubes of tofu, not crispy but not totally soft, either. A small amount of noodles ( oh, weight watchers rules, you are so cruel) and a nice amount of veggies. There was not all the variety of veggies they used to have, I notice they have them in their stir fried menu items, but maybe not in yakisoba anymore? there was broccoli, celery (meh), onions, cabbage, baby corn, zucchini, and carrots. I missed the red bells. I love those. But, it had a nice flavor, and it was less than $9 with a drink, so I was satisfied. The place was full of men. I notice they give an Intel discount. The sweet girls who work there are very nice. It's clean and cute. There were also lots of little families. I notice they have a kid's meal for $3.95. Neat.

Delicious! The teriyaki chicken lunch special is under 7 bucks and includes a salad, drink, and gyosas. What a deal. Best food around and food comes out quick even when busy.
(5)Megan S.
Just ordered 6 yakisoba dinners for the family.. 15 mins they were ready. And man oh man this is delicious!! Best I have had in a long time. Perfect ratio of veggies, noodles and meat. Great job! Definitely will be eating here again! Thanks for the great food!

This is probably my favorite Teriyaki place in Hillsboro. I always just order the Teriyaki chicken and Gyoza lunch special so I have not tried anything else, but I think it's the best I've had, and the salad w/house dressing is so fresh and great tasting. It also the best prices I've seen for this dish. They are always quick and friendly.

I got a to go order from this place one day for lunch. I tried the Yakisoba noodles with chicken. I got a pretty bad headache after having this dish and realized it was due to the bad refired oil that they had used in the noodles. The noodles was a little too oily and smelt of reused frying oil. It had a good blend of vegetables like baby corn, peas and some carrots, teriyaki chicken was also good. Had it not been for the bad oil they had used, this dish would have been super awesome. I would not visit this place again just because of the bad oil they are using thats causing me a headache and its also not good for our health.

The chicken was a little bit dry and too chewy for me. Good service and good prices. Nice looking atmosphere, very casual

Very pleasant lunch today. Good portions and great taste. I had beef yakisoba and teriyaki chicken. I will definitely come back.

This place used to be a hidden gem. The price was right and the food, while basic, was delicious. I haven't been in awhile so I stopped in today for the lunch. Seems like everything has changed. There prices went up, I can understand this , so no big deal. Then I noticed they were out of half of there sodas ( no diet :( ). I can understand one fountain drink being out but half seems ridiculous. I started to look for the tea they use to offer. I asked the lady and she pointed me towards the fountain tea, bleh. I swear they use have tea instead of soda, nope not anymore. My egg roll was over deep fried, it was like they deep fried it twice and to top it off I've been sick at my stomach after eating there. What the hell happened? I in any hurry to go back.

Agreed with the previous poster about the downfall of this place. I have not been here for about half-a-year now and the food menus had changed dramatically. Servers had also changed. Now the specials are orange chicken or general tsao chicken. I would have gone to panda express for better food.

Tried this place on a whim and was really impressed. Large portions, tasty food and reasonably priced food. Definitely will be coming back. Only thing that keeps it from being 5 stars was a weird number of ants in the place.

First and most likely last time in. Girl at the counter was nice but could work on her customer service skills. I had the basic chicken teriyaki, the cook on the chicken was good and the amount was good for the price but the sauce was not like any teriyaki I've ever had. It was more like gloppy grocery store barbecue sauce. Salad was nothing exciting, iceberg lettuce, a few carrots slices and maybe a little cabbage with allot of ranch, no dressing choices. At other teriyaki places I've had a cooked cabbage and carrot side that I would have preferred if that was an option. My husband had the mushroom chicken which he was happy with, plenty of mushrooms and chicken. The decorum is pretty nondescript, it was clean and the staff was busy cleaning when they were not helping customers or cooking. While we were there eating, the counter person went to clean up behind a messy child, which is great, but the tool that she used was an electric sweeper that was rather noisy. This would do in a pinch if there was nothing else around, but would not be somewhere I would think of as a first choice.

This is teriyaki. Great service. Large portions. Great flavor and price. The teriyaki spicy pork was tender and flavorful. The teriyaki chicken was also very yummy. Will definitely return.

So I came here with my girlfriend cause she said it was good and comes often. After we order I go to use the restroom and as I go in I see a chef just finishing up taking a piss, go to soak his hand in water and shakes them off to dry walks out and goes to the kitchen!!! He didn't even use soap! !!! He soaked them in water for 2 seconds!! I was grossed out and canceled my order and left. I made sure the chef was from that restaurant cause I saw him in the back as I got my money back.

I won't be back. This used to be a good place, but I think that I have gone there twice since new owners came in. I haven't liked it either time. The rice wasn't very good, the chicken was dry, and the sauce that used to be so good isn't so good any more.

Nara, you lied to me. You said "BULGOGI" and I melted. I was excited. My boyfriend saw "SPICY PORK" and at least his was what you said it would be. Unfortunately, he didn't much care for it. Nevertheless, it was pork. And it was spicy. I'm very familiar with [good] bulgogi. This wasn't even close. Also, half of my meat was fat. I could see the swollen cells in the adipose tissue. They were crying. I was STARVING. I felt betrayed and wanted salmon teriyaki instead. But is the salmon really salmon? The gyoza was superb. Best of any teriyaki place in the area. The rice was cooked perfectly. The salad dressing was yummy. However, besides the yummy gyoza and some mediocre meat, I don't know what I was getting. Rice is cheap. I got like $0.22 worth of lettuce for a salad. Subpar meat is also cheap. Meh.

This is one of those businesses that consistently provides a quality product. Intel employees frequent this place at lunch time. Good for a cheap, tasty meal. I have only been for lunch, perhaps dinner is even better?

I had been frequenting Kokiyo Teri, and decided to try Nara. I'm a fan! I really like the lunch special, and apparently, so does everyone else. $5.95 for chicken teri, rice, 4 gyoza, salad, and a drink. Score! And to top it off the teriyaki sauce is legit, more authentic that Kokiyo in my opinion. Gotta check out the katsu next time.

Took out the lunch special (lettuce salad, teriyaki, gyoza, white rice, soft drink) for $5.75. Not a bad deal. I loved the teriyaki . I was a little unhappy that the side veg was lettuce instead of, say, brocolli and carrots, which seem to be more common for Asian/teriyaki places and got more nutrition. Gyoza was also so-so. They're deep fried and a little bit too "fast-food like". I would give this place a 3-1/2 star if I could.
(4)Tiffany T.
I really liked this place. The food was hot and flavorful, the staff polite and quick. The menu had a bit more variety then other teriyaki places I had been to, with some chinese items. I loved the gyoza. The only thing I found a bit odd was that the teriyaki sauce was so thick it was almost ketchup like, but hey, who doesn't love ketchup. The hubster will put it on just about anything anyway.
