India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the area - they have very nice staff and the food is marvelous. Everything on the vegetarian section of the menu is delicious and they will also make things that are not on the menu (like chana dal). Their nan is very good and I love their dal maharani and butter chicken as well. I had a fish based dish once and wasn't a big fan, but otherwise the food is very good. They also have a lunch buffet which is pretty good, but they keep it non-spicy. If you like spicy food I'd recommend ordering off the menu instead.

Always use to with the Team for the team lunch. Our manager knew the owener pretty well so we use to get very good treatment here. I always went for buffet and once for the dinner. The food is made as per northern style cooking. If you want to try some desi food, give this a shot.

Date Visited: Tuesday 4/29/08 (Dinner) Gotta say that this was my favorite Indian restaurant at one time, but the lunch buffet I had in February brought it down some. The restaurant has never had more than a few others in it, whenever I've gone there for dinner. It's located around 25th and Cornell, in Hillsboro. The strip mall also houses a Thai restaurant (Thai Princess), a laundrymat, an Asian grocery store, and a few other odds and ends. It may get overlooked because of the location. I was eating with a vegan, so we went totally vegan with our dishes. We had the Dum Aloo and Aloo Matar, both potato dishes. I prefered the Dum Aloo, but both dishes were really good. It worked out because my dinner date liked the Aloo Matar better. Only I brought leftovers home though. Service has always been nice here. You get Pappadams to start, served with a spicy green chutney (?) and a red mango (?) sauce. I'm making stuff up now...isn't it great? I don't know what they were, but they were red and green in color and the green was hot. How's that? To end the night, you get their very sweet and tasty dessert. Don't ask me the name as it completely escapes me. Let's just liken it to a something between tasting like a doughnut and pancakes, all wrapped up in a single little ball and covered with a very sweet sauce. This may be one of my most generic reviews ever, but as this restaurant is good and only has a few reviews (including the one Eric C. did when we went for the lunch buffet), I thought I'd finally put in my 2 cents. It may have only been about 1/2 cent, but I'll try to beef it up a bit after my next visit. Eww...I just said beef it up. Gross.

Pathetic is the only Word I can think of. They mixed leftover lamb curry and rice and served as Lamd Biryani. Roganjosh is an amazing dish but this was no where similar to roganjosh. It was full of red chilli, color and some ragu. I suggest never go there if you want Indian Food.

I've lived in the Portland metro area for about 10 years now. During that time I've tried two different Indian restaurants. Because of those experiences I was starting to wonder if anyone around here knew how to make a good lamb curry. We finally tried the India Palace a month ago and I was in heaven. The lamb was tender and completely without gristle and the spices were exactly right. Prices were on pare with the other Indian restaurants in the area. A couple weeks later we went there for lunch to try the buffet. The selection was pretty decent and you could have as much mango lassi and gulab jamun as you want. By the way, the gulab jamun is to die for. I'll definitely be frequenting this restaurant in the future.

This is bar none the best Indian food in the area. I've been there more than a dozen times and the food has always been spectacular. I can't recollect a time that I've left not feeling extremely satisfied with my meal. It doesn't stop there though. The service in my opinion is second to none. That may be because there's typically not many patroners during the dinner rush, but that just gives it a more personal and quaint touch. It's location is left to be desired, but the quality and taste of the food makes up for it. I would recommend the India Palace to anyone who wants a fantastic meal and will continue to take my family to this fine establishment for years to come.

I give it a 5 for the buffet, but only a 3 for the dinner service. I'm not an expert of Indian food, but this place has a great buffet. I've probably been at least 5 times in the last 6 months. It gets pretty busy during lunch, so it can't be too bad, right? There's usually (pardon my butchering of the spelling) naan, bhatura, basmati rice, 2-3 vegetarian dishes, 3-4 meat dishes, the mango drink, and the little dough balls in syrup (nope - i don't know what it's called). My favorites have to be the butter chicken or the mutton. Sometimes they have tandoori chicken, but i don't really like it (it's kind of dry, but what do you expect - it can't be cooked the real tandoori style - it's a buffet). Craving the butter chicken, I've come back twice for dinner. While the food tastes better than the buffet (the curry has a creamier and fresher taste), the food is a little pricy (I think butter chicken was $11 - more than the buffet! - and the serving wasn't too big) and the service was slow (both times).

Very good Indian, as far as I can tell, I've eaten Indian dozens of places over the last dozen years, and this tops the list. The vindaloo tasted bright and slightly sweet as if made from fresh tomatoes, not the darkish red sauce one can expect from common vindaloo. I asked for it to be really spicy and it was rather medium, but still tasty, which holds back my fifth star, I made it absolutely plain that I wanted it to be really spicy. Korma, butter chicken, excellent, the chutney and tamarind sauce tasty. There were several Indian customers in the restaurant, so it must be a'ight. Service excellent as well.
