A happy accident! I'd originally aimed on getting Thai from the joint across the street, but it was closed. It did however eye a large cackling group enter Nookies while stuck turning at the light. Everything I've had is excellent. I'm deep into my second pint of the Oi! porter and its rich and easily worth stopping in for by itself. The Chipotle Bacon and Bleu burger is like 7" wide and is no way a slouch. Happy hour service is speedy and is singing in-key with every other 80's song. I'm in-town once a year for work and now have a favorite drinking hole and food stop.

Four of us stopped here without reading already posted Yelp reviews in advance. So glad that was the case because we experienced none of the service/food/beer issues that others have complained about. Just goes to show that a business should not be judged solely based on some unknown person's negative opinions! Anyone can post their opinion but you really need to try a business to give it a fair chance. | Burgers were perhaps a little overcooked but still within the bounds of acceptability. Beers (IPA) were good and service was friendly, very attentive and right on the spot. We had a great experience here and have already recommended it to friends who will be in the Hermiston area this fall. Great decor with antique gas pumps, historic photos and bikes.

I have 2 reviews. Overall I like this place. But I am a pulled pork sandwich liver. I will go out of my way for a pulled pork sandwich. This pulled pork at Nookies was the worst that I've ever had. The buns were more like soft pita bread than buns. Tastes good, but not a good pairing with the meat. Also, it was so floppy that combined with the malleable nature of the sandwich, it was unable to keep it in once piece. Most of the meet flopped into the plate. I resorted to making two soft tacos with the buns. But this is minor compared to the meat. The meat was utterly hidden in whatever paste they mixed it in. It reminded me of refried bean paste. The overall texture if the pork was more like paste than meat. The taste... I could taste the flavored sauce they used to approach what a pork sandwich should taste like. Nookies generally does a better job than standard bar food. But do NOT get the pulled pork sandwich. The sweet potato fries were quite good.

Tried this out for a late midweek lunch. Taco salad was good, order with extra Pico tho. Hubby had the triple BLT and lived up to it's name. Really good beer selection from Braveheart Light to Decepithop IPA. Nice clean atmosphere. Will return next time we are in town

Without too many choices in Hermiston, we ended up here for a late lunch. Surprised to see so few people on a Saturday at a sports/brewery. Couple that with a mediocre rating, I was a little concerned that we'd end up wasting money. Turns out that the only complaint I had about the brewery was the decor, which left a little to be desired. Food-wise though, I had a Cobb Salad, which was large and tasty. My wife had the Tuna Melt, which she enjoyed. The fries were plentiful and they have tots, sweet (potato) fries, and regular. Best of all, I don't know if it was a special or what, but we had two imperial pints for a total of $5.75! And it was pretty good craft beer too. I had the Easy Rider IPA which was a guest tap and my wife had the Wit made in house. Better still, when the original beer I chose was out, the waitress brought me tasters of all 4 of the guest taps without me even asking. She was attentive and timely. While not amazing, the Hermiston Brewery is a pretty decent spot in the middle of a semi-good food desert. If we happen to end up in town again, we know we'll have a place to stop and feel pretty comfortable with the choice.

First time here, i dont get to hermiston very often but happened to be in tosn and wanted to gove this place a try after seeinf their commercial. Good selection of craft beers and plenty of menu items. Just straight american food. No frills no gimmicks just good food. We will be back when in town.

Just moved the Hermiston and we were happy to be find this place. Great craft beer. The rind wrecker is a must have. Great food and great service! We came back in for lunch on a monday and came back 5 days later for dinner and they remembered us. Will definitely be a weekly stop for us.

Upon trying the food again (we were told it had improved) and reading my last review, my previous review stands. Service: B - friendly, little on the slow side Food: D - boring, trying to cover up the burgers' lack of flavor by adding bacon. The bacon is good. Everything else is mediocre. Nothing is outstanding. Decor: Better than last time, but still not quite coherent. Fun old photos on the walls and some other cool stuff. More pleasing than last time we were in. B+ Beer: C. Kolsch was not a crisp summer Kolsch like you'd expect. IPAs were - generic I guess is the word. Nothing to distinguish it among other IPAs and very "take it or leave it." It has improved, though something about the beer seems unfinished. They do have some guest taps now, which is great. Overall: Nookie's was an F-- in my book. I bumped them up to a D+ this trip. They get a B for effort. I won't be back without a great reason.

Service is really slow. Food is just ok. The real reason to go here is for the bar i guess. Not bad but for the money is not great.

I was impressed with the BBQ sandwich and the fried pretzels.... Surprised others rated this place so low, I would recommend giving this place a try...

I have only been to this place twice now and it was the worst food i have ever had. Everything was burnt (even my fries). I'm not really sure how u burn fries but they did and then when I told the waitress about it got an attitude, like it was my fault!!!! Nope not my fault... I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE OR ANY NOOKIES FOR THAT MATTER. I can go to McDonald's and get the right food that's not burnt and not pay 157$$ which was the amout of my ticket. If u ever go out to eat and want good food and good service DO NOT GO TO NOOKIES. The only reason I gave it a 1 star rating is cause the web site made me give one.

Probably your best sports bar option in Hermiston. Lots of tv's Attached to and part off the Hermiston Brewery and they have pretty darn good beers. The girl who sat us was NOT a happy camper. Very glad she was not our waitress. It turns out she should have been off already and here attitude reflected that. Our waitress Kimberly, was great. Very attentive and quick service. I had the halibut fish and chips and the halibut was very large and the fries were excellent. It appeared to me that half of the staff were very unhappy. I would go back but I would not be excited about it.

First time here from out of town. Used Yelp to try to find a decent place to eat. It let us here. the service was pour. Slow. Uninviting. You walk in not knowing if you are to seat yourself or wait to be seated. My meal was slightly wrong. Cajun wrap. So much cajun sauce I couldnt taste the sandwich. Salad dressing was wrong. Son had a prime rib sandwich. He didnt care for it. Thinks the bread was sour dough. The cajun sauce made it so I couldnt tell / taste anything. The waitress tried to card my teenage son before he even ordered and I guarantee you he wasnt going to order a beer with his dad sitting there. Her demeanor was bland to forgetful. Talk about not feeling welcome. At the end of our meal not only did she not take our plates when we pushed them forward saying we were done, she asked of we wanted separate checks. I should have taken the advice of those that said this place was boring and not friendly. Oh lastly the tv's. Stupidly small amd not enough of them. Settings are on the Soap Opera mode. Google it people and fix it. Thats a factory mode setting.

I am working in eastern Oregon and was really stoked to find a place with good beer and food. Been there six or seven times since I have been here and will continue to return for sports, food and beer. I have yet to have a bad experience here.

The food here is below average and if you want to feel like your not important for the money you pay to eat here then go. They do have a large selection of drinks but only a few of the workers will make you feel welcome

  • Richard B.

Been here twice, first time after ten minutes and no service, so I left. Second time six minutes before they asked if I would like something to drink, all while sitting at the bar. Terrible.

I'm glad I didn't make my choice based on the negative reviews. Food was great. 6 at our table and everyone enjoyed our meal. Only complaint was there was too much food and I ate too much. Attentive service. Owner in the store. Highly recommended.

I took a friend here today, a first for both of us. Great food, great beer, great staff. We met the manager and she was very hospitable and had us try the hand crafted root beer and ginger soda, both very good. I plan to bring more friends down from the Tri-Cities. A nice change.

We finally came here for our first time last night and I gotta say that we weren't impressed with the burgers, service or atmosphere. That being said, the halibut fish and chips were actually pretty good and the porter I ordered was amazing. I can't speak for all of the beers, but they make an amazing porter that was complex and smooth, without being too bitter. Overall, I'd go back to try the other beers, but won't waste my money on overpiced applebees type shitty burgers that were wayyyyy overpriced for the quality. Plus I've never seen raw mushrooms on a mush swiss burger...not to mention they overcooked the meat, even after I asked for it medium rare.

I would not go here again. The staff was slow, unprofessional and did not know what they were doing. I did not read any of the reviews on yelp before trying this place out, but I wish I had and saved my money before going into this establishment. So I went in for lunch to get a quick bit. The parking lot was quite full so I thought to myself, "this has to be a good place right?" WRONG! I walked in and stood in the middle of the restaurant for a few minutes before I stopped a waitress to ask if it was open seating or if I had to wait for the hostess. She sharply replied that it was open seating. I went to the bar thinking that it would be the quicker. I was wrong once again. So I end up sitting at the bar for 3 - 4 minutes before they toss me a menu and walked away. I state there and read their menu. All their items looked good and I decided to get a steak salad . So I placed menu down and started playing the waiting game once again. Three different waitress walked by me and I made eye contact with them and they quickly broke the eye contact and continued what they were doing. I understand that they were busy, but at this time it has been about 10 minutes and I don't even have water or talked to a waitress. I finally flag down a waitress to put in my order and they pass me off to another waitress that did not look very happy to be there. Finally after 12 minutes I was able to put in my order and water. Waiting for my food one of the other waitresses finally talked me to ask if I ordered. I replied yes, at this point they could tell that was not happy with my experience with their establishment. At this point they avoided my area of the bar and only came by to drop off my food. The food came out in a nice timely manner and it looked tasty, but it was not. I order the Fajita Steak Salad. The steak was a bit grey as it was not cooked on a hot enough grill and was semi grilled. I chocked it down, paid my bill and l left, While waiting for my food I noticed that there was at least 6 tables that needed to be cleaned just sitting there.

Do not understand the severely negative reviews. Went there last night after reading them just to check out the beer at the co-located Hermiston Brewing Co., and stayed for dinner. Did the 6 beer sampler and was very pleased. The Celebration Pale Ale is fresh and tasty. Some of the IPAs are more citrusy than I like but that is the Northwest style. The Off De' Hook was much milder as was Thrill Seeker. Even the Farm City Pilsner - and I am no pils guy - was well done. Had the fresh potato chips, followed by the half rack of ribs. Okay, the ribs were a tad over smoked to my taste. Maybe next time the rib eye, T-bone, or other steak entre. Definitely many steps up from "bar food." And the staff were attentive and efficient; they handled some very flirtatious, but harmless, guys at the bar with chipper professionalism. I'll be back.

I've always wanted this place to be great, but they've never blown me away and never have all of the elements they need. The decor is a great for a sports bar. I was excited to see what their 'make-over' entailed but one glance at the menu and you can see they've basically ripped-off Red Robin's menu. Though they are very proud of their beer (I LOVE that they are brewing their own beer. Awesome!) and though supposedly the 'best brewer from Portland who came to brew it', I nor any of my friends have ever liked any of the beer. The 'jolly rancher' favored beers (watermelon, strawberry, i.e.) are ridiculous, virtually the same beer, gimicky and gross. The one time we got the sampler we only could take a sip of each and left the rest (the only time this has ever happened with any sampler I've ever bought!) The waitress didn't ask us if we liked the beer (I'm guessing it was obvious we didn't and she's probably used to that reaction about their beers so she doesn't want to deal with it.) And we were still charged for the sampler (normal bar-tending practices you would find a different drink you could pour them instead OR don't charge your customer for a drink they hated). Service has been semi-good to poor every time I've been there. The place is always nearly empty these days. Everyone I've ever talked to has had the same opinion of this restaurant, however most people won't take the energy to post reviews. Thanks to the recent horrible and ignorant comments by the owner I wanted to take the time to share. Yes, we did express our dissatisfaction with the waitress at the time. She apologized but didn't take any means to compensate us. When the majority of your reviews are poor it doesn't mean they are 'Nookie Haters' it means you should take a serious look at your business and make changes. But no worries, if you don't wish to make changes. I will never step foot in your restaurant again, either way.

Lucas is the best. He was very good at making sure our experience was great. We ordered a flight of every beer. I can't say we had a favorite but enjoyed a lot of the beers they had to offer. The food was ok but the beer here is definitely their forte. The owner was awesome. He is a fellow racer and the 2004 National Nitro Drag Car Champion and entertained us for 20 minutes. We had a good time and will return the next time we are in the area.

So today, the owner of the place goes on Facebook and calls me, and my friends a liar. This was 10 months later from the initial review. He went on to talk about that they were a brew pub, and brag about how he brews the beer etc, but made no attempt to defend the lousy food or poor service. I have had the beer there, and it isn't good. I know a good craft beer when I have had one, and their's is not good. It is disappointing to have the owner of a business in a small town call you a liar, rather than actually look into why the review was poor to begin with. Especially one who brags about the "millions" he has given for charity , and puts it out there like he is a good citizen. Since I posted this 3 hrs ago, he has continued to harass me on Facebook and complained that he gets posts like ours all of the time and has to take them down. It should be stated that there were several other complaints about the poor food and service on their Facebook page, but for some reason he decided to go after me. It is very disappointing. There are some other places in town that are quite good: Hales, The Midway Tavern, Walkers Farm Kitchen just to name a few. Even the bowling Alley with its bright paint job, offers good food at a reasonable price. 4/9/13-I have edited this post today as I mistakenly asserted Mr. Myers had attempted to run for public office. This has been changed. What won't be changed is my review of his establishment. Wait staff that could care less to wait on you. Bad food that is either over or under cooked and poor over priced cocktails.

This is a great little place for beer and grub. The servers are super friendly and the food is good. Occasionally, you may need to remind the server bring more beer but overall a good experience. Solid 3.5 Stars.

The food was delicious best burger I've had. The mushrooms Swiss was a gigantic burger almost enough to feed two people. Atmosphere was country themed but with a modern twist.

$5.00 for well whiskey!!! Are you kidding me?and they don't carry a well bourbon. Started out with a micro brew while waiting for dinner. Ordered their stout. It was a lot closer to a mild porter than a good deep stout. Ordered the halibiut and fries thinking it would/should come with a cup of soup or small salad/slaw but noo that's $3 more. Although the fish was perfectly cooked and seemed freshI don't believe it was true halibut but maybe cod or some other mild white fish. Sat at the bar and it seemed the bartender was more busy working the tables than the bar as I noticed other waitresses having to make their customers drinks. Not a good way to run a bar efficiently .Didn't take the time to look the menu over completely but they seemed very high priced. Might try them one more time when my check book recovers.

I make sure to stop at Nookies every time I'm in the Hermiston area. I've never had a less than delicious meal there (my favorite is the jalapeno burger), and they have really friendly service. Yesterday I decided to head down to try their new microbrews. I ordered the sampler with 8 different beers. I was impressed! Every beer was unique and tasty. I especially thought the lavender beer was amazing! So flavorful and different from any beer I've ever had. Whether you live in Hermiston or are just passing through, treat yourself to some great food and amazing beer at Nookies!

Wait staff is hit and miss. Mostly slow and indifferent. The owner has a brewing operation on site and got over aggressive recently when I took my boss from out of town to have lunch there. He approached the table to tell us about his beer selection, and after being told we were working, still insisted a glass for lunch wouldn't hurt anything. Food specials are usually pretty good. Avoid the halibut as it is fried and very greasy.

What a suprise. Grreat microbrews and a great ribeye to boot. The salad greens are fresh and outstanding. The service on the other hand was not the greatest.

Nookie's is home to Hermiston Brewing Company. They had 12 beers on tap and we tried them all. Favorites were the Imperial IPA and the Round Up Red. No prices are posted on the menu for pints or growlers. We got taster sized portions which are $1 each, pretty standard. I asked if they would fill growlers from other breweries and was surprised to find they don't! I've been to microbreweries from Eugene to Victoria and Astoria to Enterprise and this is the first that only fills their own growlers! Poor business model which I bet they change in the future.

Probably the worst dining experience ive had in years. My girlfriend hadnt been back here for two years because of the poor service, but we decided to give them another shot tonight. Wrong choice. After arriving, we found that there were several empty booths, but all were dirty. When we asked the waitress if she could have someone clean off a table after she told us to "sit anywhere", we were greeted by a rude look and some rolled eyes. Another waitress came up and we repeated our request and finally she got a booth cleared for us. Sadly, this was the last piece of"good" service we got. Or appetizer arrived about 20 minutes after we ordered it, it took another 25 minutes for our two burgers to arrive. We then sat for close to 45 minutes without another visit from our waitress. It was not even remotely busy. The food was ok, burger buns were delicious, but that won't get another visit from me. Also didn't appreciate that the waitress told us that the only beer they served was their own brew only to see other tables order and receive Coors light bottles. You've been warned.

My 2 co-workers and I had lunch today @ Nookies. It was wonderful, food plentiful and delicious, and the service superb! After reading some of the reviews, I was curious to see what I thought. I was pleasantly surprised to find it such a friendly, nice place. I will go back!

I had lunch here with a friend last month and the burgers are delicious! Although I do have to say I agree with a few of the reviews on the attitude of the staff...I went one night to the bar a few years back and the bartender was extremely rude! She acted like we were bothering her because her friends were there and she was trying to hurry up and head back, she kept rolling her eyes and replying sarcastically. The last time I went in there for lunch though, our waitress was nice and kept checking up on us, so I can't really judge what happened a few years back on how the staff is now.

Nookies is a tale of two restaurants. Where you park may have a bearing on which side you experience, first. One side is a sports bar with light wood tones, big-screen TVs, pool tables, a jukebox, and the bar. The other side is a bistro, with an extensive wine list, darker wood furnishings, and interesting objects hanging around, including a couple of very early, motorized bicycles - forerunners to the motorcycle. The menu is the same on both sides. You get to decide which atmosphere you prefer - fair warning: the hours are not the same on both sides of the house. Check local listings. I watched the burgers being portioned one Saturday afternoon (it may be different now, but then, burgers were buy one, get one free on Saturdays - call to confirm) Premium, ground chuck softballs were being flattened between two dinner plates to make each burger! Unless you have done Hungry Man commercials, ask them to cut the burger in half in the kitchen - and put half of it in a to-go box from the start. The next day you will thank me, because you will have another meal of burger deliciousness. The deserts appear well made, and those that have them rave; I've never had room! Nookies is only about six years old and I applaud the determination and guts it takes to start a new restaurant in an older community and to continue to refine it to serve the community.

This is a noble attempt to make a decent bar in Hermiston. Unfortunately if falls short. The beer list is very good. The selection is generous and eclectic. The problem is the food is no better than what you get at Hermiston's other famous eatery, 7-Eleven. Now, I know 7-Elevwn serves a great plate of nachos with that orange chemical cheese, but it does it faster and cheaper. Speed, that brings us to the staff. If this is the best they can do for the wages they are paying, then the owners need to pay more. The wait staff should have been called apathy consultants. So I give them two stars. One star for a great beer selection. A second star for general establishment presentation. In a town of seedy dives this place at lest tries to be something other than another cheap bar with 1950's working class sensibilities.

My wife an I have dinned at Nookies 7 or 8 times . First time when they were new and we were disappointed . We don't let staff no when we are experiencing bad food. We gave it another try and had a ok meal ,better than the first experience. The next 4 to5 meals at Nookies were very good with excellent service. The last meal we had the worst service we've experienced at a restaurant and my meal tasted like it was covered in lighter fluid. We will not go back to Nookies for dinner.

Food takes forever and service isn't attentive. They kind of have the attitude that your bothering them or asking stupid questions. Food Tastes processed and is overpriced... you can get the same kind of stuff at Jack and the box and probably get better service. The environment may be the only thing this place has going for them, they have a cool digital jukebox, and interesting things on the walls... but as far as food/drinks/etc. dont bother!

  • Adriana G.

Finally a decent bar in Hermiston! It's a fairly new establishment with a bistro attached to the back. They have a few pool tables and TVs throughout the bar. The kitchen is open late but the menu is very limited once they 'close' the kitchen. If you score a booth it's great because then you can eat, drink, and enjoy the music or tv. The really cool thing is that they have the Tum-A-Lum Lumber neon sign hanging over the bar. This is truly a Hermiston landmark and when they tore down the lumber yard the sign was preserved and has now reappeared at Nookies!

We come to Nookies each time we visit Hermiston. Fun environment, good food and atmosphere. For a small town they have a good beer selection. Lots of micro brews and good mixed drinks. A fun place to hang out and watch games on the tv's around the bar. If you're in the area it's a good place to stop. Really it's the best place in town.

  • Tim T.

I wish I had gone here earlier in my stay. Decent beer selection, ~10 micros on tap and all were under $4. Food was great and atmosphere was a nice sports bar type. $10 ribs special on Tuesday is NOT to be missed. I'll definitely be back.

My husband and I are here in Hermiston for a week on business, and there's not a whole lot here. We had dinner at Nookies our second night, and we were pretty impressed at how nice the place is considering the town. Didn't feel like we were in Hermiston, but in a bigger town. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the service was very good. We are going there again tonight but we'll try out the "bar" side. I'm sure we'll enjoy it!
