Tamale Factory in Gresham, I wish I could say different but I have to be honest This is the worst place I have ever been too they screwed up everything and the health inspector needs to pay a visit there, I had 2 groupons for the 5 star ratings on this place, The first I used they were getting ready to close and the food was old and NASTY so I gave them a second chance on their stars and they blew it worse, the food was bad and half of what I ordered they were out of at noon, so needless to say I didn't get what I ordered, I gave them 2 hours for my order to be ready and no one called me to say hey buddy we don't have but half of the food you wanted so I at least could change my mind and cancel so I had to get something else so my groupon didn't go to waste. I have since then decided to not use there services again and I am telling all my friends of the nasty food they serve. Tamale factory or Groupon is a bad combo all the way round.

This is my 4th time eating delicious tamales at the Tamale Factory. The owner offered free tamales for my daughter and I to try even though I had been there previously. Very kind and friendly gentleman. The price was great for a full dinner of 2 big tamales, cilantro rice and pinto beans. It was too much for me to finish! There were 4 FREE tubs of salsa in the bag too. Take out only, unless it is summer, we sat at a table outside. Today at 3:00 there were 3 people ahead of us buying half dozens. Just a great place for tamales!

Just okay - very bland and not much flavor in the masa. The pork tamales are definitely the best if you're going to get any

It is good for the price. I wished it had more filling. Jalapeño one is really good.

I spent a month in central Mexico last summer and I desparately missed the homemade tamales at the tamale cart. After trying this place out, I no longer have to miss anything! The tamales here are exactly like the ones I looked forward to every day during lunch break. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I went to the TF with a co-worker for lunch. I have spent a lot of time down in Northern Mexico, and have had plenty of homemade, authentic Tamale's made for me down there, and these are just as good. There service is fast, the employee's are nice. I recommend the Tamale Factory to everyone! Great place to eat, and cheap!

This place is awesome! Great food, friendly staff and super affordable. This will be our family's new spot when we are too tired to cook.

The tamales at the Tamale Factory are delicious! I love that they freeze well because they are quick to grab for an easy lunch at work. I made some tamales for a recent party and everyone loved them. I appreciate the variety of tamales that are offered, I think the price is right, and I urge others to support this great local business.

We got one of each flavor tamale. All flavors rocked. My kids loved the bean and cheese. It is nice to have a well priced, quick eats place that the whole family loves.

I love tamales. I could eat them six days out of seven. This place is awesome. I don't go to Gresham often, but when I do I make this place a stop along the way. I have never been treated rudely, it has always been courteous service as I would expect in any restaurant and the food is awesome. The mushroom and spinach filled tamale is a high favorite - filled with both. Spouse loves the pork. Eat here!!

I must be eating at a different Tamale Factory than some of these 5 star reviewers. Or maybe they are friends and family of the owners. All I can say is that far from being underwhelming the tamales were dry, had very little filling, and 4 people I fed were ticked off and hungry. That's right - me, hubby, best friend, and neighbor. All of us swore to never darken their doorway again. The salsa was bad and the rice was dry and bland. Cilantro rice should have cilantro in it - not a few flakes of finely chopped whatever that was.

Price is good. Proportion is good. Get on their Facebook!! You get coupons! I love their veggie one. This is so good that I often buy in bulk and all my friends love their tamales!

Just got called a pendejo while ordering my food. The only pendejo is a mexican who thinks people can't speak spanish. Good tamales, poor and offensive service!

Bought another dozen of these vegetarian tamale beauties! I am actually eating one at the same time I am typing up this. They make the best vegetarian ones, oh and vegan ones as well. They had 3 vegetarian/vegan choices when I went in to order some. Most of the time you cannot get a tamale without meat.. Or, when you can, it's ALL cornmeal and maybe an obligatory little piece of asparagus or something. These are LOADED with veggies. I'm eating a jalapeno and white cheese tamale as well as a spinach and mushroom tamale (vegan). Every bite has filling poking out! No more dry tamales! I also bought their jalapeno salsa which has so much flavor it's perfect over these mamas! The other thing I like about them is that they are all ready for me to eat. I throw them in the microwave for 1 minute with a slightly damp paper towel over them and viola! Homemade tamales for lunch! Heck breakfast even! You can also keep them in the fridge for 5 days before freezing them! OK I repeat myself but seriously, it's really cool to do another review of a place you love and they have not changed a thing! So see ya tamale already!

I had been meaning to get there for a very long time. Last week I actually drove by but unfortunately they had just closed. So it's a burning desire and tamale brain I actually made it yesterday. Ya hoo for me I was thrilled to meet the people in this family operation. Plus I simply did not have to cook dinner now that's worth 5 stars alone. I give their tamales thumbs up we loved all of them. I personally liked the jalapeno but my husband preferred the pork. Two tamales each we were more than full the rice was delicious and the very day that they packed to go was awesome. I definitely will return and I will let all my friends and family know of this great location in our community.

Be sure to go on a sunny day or be prepared to take your food home. They have a few tables out front of the shop to eat at but nothing inside if the weather is not that good. The tamales were great. Very flavorful and they reheated tremendously well. Be sure to get some of their house made salsa to top of your tamales while you are there.

Some of the best Homemade Authentic Tamales ever! Much cheaper if you take home a half dozen and smother them with some good chili. Take Out Only... Went on a Friday afternoon and had to wait 15 minutes to place my order, It might be better to call in your order a head of time. Definitely worth the wait! I will return soon to stock up on more tamales when the variety of 20 I purchased this time are gone.

It's so nice to welcome Tamale Factory to downtown Gresham! Today is their second day open, and there were several people inside when I stopped by. I tried the Jalapeno & Cheese tamale. It was perfectly moist with just the right mix of spice and cheese. They have meat (chicken, beef, pork) and vegetarian (jalapeno & cheese, bean & cheese, spinach & mushroom) options. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It's a tiny shop- so you order at the counter and get your tamales to go. I feel like this place will be added to my go-to spots for sure!

  • Arlen G.

Awesome tamales. They taste fresh and healthy. I love the red sauce. The beef tamales and the spinach were my favorites. Will come back for more!

Seriously amazing! The nicest people ever too... they gave us a free tamale. Idk what was better though the salsa or the tamales together they are perfection.

I love trying new places and came all the way to Gresham to check out this place. First trip I arrived at 7:01 to find out they close their doors at 7:00. The dude inside shrugged and locked it as he saw me coming up. Ok Whatevs. 2nd time out I realized the first trip summed it up. Their tamales are a little expensive for my tastes but not too bad... The people working there are not very helpful and I found my ordering process confusing. How can ordering some tamales be a confusing process you ask? I don't know... Their seating is pretty horrible if you're lucky enough to get one of the two tables they have, and they do not have salsa to eat with your tamales though they'll sell you a tiny tub of poor tasting salsa for an extra $4. The tamales themselves were below average but not terrible. I tried pork and jalapeno, since they were sold out of everything else but beans. Who eats bean tamales anyways... that's weird. So the pork was good but could've used more pork. The Jalapeno was supposed to be jalapeno and cheese, but it seems to be just jalapeno. It was OK, but a bit lacking without some cheesy goodness. The place did appear clean, but that's really not enough to make me eat here again much less drive across town, or really even walk across the street. I gave the 2nd star for cleanliness...

Come children and listen to a story... When I was young I HATED tamales they were always dry and crumby and tasted like corn poop. My husband and I were meandering and decided to stop in for lunch, I was skeptical. I'm glad to report that I have been proven wrong!! TASTY TASTY IN MY FACE. The tamales are delicious and light and steamed just right. The beans are flavorful and the rice tastes like my abuelas. Excellent service in a tiny space.

Great price and authentic food doesn't get better than this. Tamale Factory is conveniently located in downtown Gresham. I was so impressed with the pork tamales, I had to try the chicken, beef, jalapeño & cheese and the bean & cheese tamales as well. The next one I plan on trying is the spinach & mushroom tamale. Each one was packed with incredible flavor, the secret must be the corn flour used to wrap each tamale. On top of everything else, the service was quick, friendly and attentive. Tamale Factory is my "go to" place when I want great tasting affordable food on the run. They are only 2 blocks from my office and I plan on going there again and again.

Gresham is a food desert for visitors like me so my mouth watered when I saw the sign "Tamale Factory." I am usually mixed on Tamales in general but these were fresh and moist! I had the spinach mushroom so I love that they had a no meat/no cheese option. The cilantro rice was a bonus! I will be back when I visit in a few months! Thank you Tamale Factory! I was going to wait to eat lunch after I left town. I am sure there are local gems that I haven't found but this was my first on town! Seems like a good idea for parties!

I'm stuffed! As a vegetarian, I've kept track over the years of which Mexican restaurants carry cheese tamales. Most places only have pork or beef. Well, hooray for Tamale Factory because they have THREE varieties of vegetarian tamales. And they're delicious! I had tried their cheese and jalapeno tamale and their bean and cheese tamale when they were only available via mail but today I was able to pick some up fresh at their new storefront in downtown Gresham. I also got some yummy cilantro rice and salsa brava. I love how everything is made with fresh ingredients and the rice isn't greasy like I usually find it at Mexican shops. I brought them home, topped them with the salsa, sliced avocado and some cotija cheese and we had a delicious dinner. My husband is a salsa snob and he loved their salsa. I'm glad that they're so close to my work--I'll definitely be picking them up for dinner on a regular basis.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
