Such an unassuming little restaurant. When I walked in the door I wasn't expecting much but then I saw the beautiful murals and the full menu. It still didn't prepare for the proportions. Such a pleasant surprise. Loved it, I'll be back for sure!

A solid choice in Gresham for Mexican food. Huge portions, friendly service and good food.

Good food, decent service but lots of smiles. Good value because the portions are huge so make a place in your fridge for the to go box

The food is really good. However, the service was extremely slow - we were the only diners (2 people) in the restaurant with 2 or 3 patrons at the bar. Took a long time for everything. Also, when I asked the waitress the difference between chile rellano and chile rellano Mexicano, she said they were the same, even though the Mexicano version was about $2 more. She asked another employee for help and he explained the difference. Finally, when we received our bill, we were charged $7.00 for my sangria for which the menu had listed as $5.25 and a side order of a fish taco was $1 more than the menu listed. We asked to see the menu and pointed out the discrepancies to the waitress. She mumbled something about the sangria being a liquor version (???!!!) and that the seafood tacos are $1 more. According to the menu, this is true - regular tacos are listed as $2 and fish tacos are listed as $3, but we were charged $4. Even when confronted with the restaurant's own written menu, she refused to adjust our bill. Sorry - too many Mexican restaurants to choose from and we will never go back to 7 Mares.

Excellent food. Friendly service. Itbwasba little slow, but one guy was host, bartender, server, and waiter for the entire restaurant. But the food more than makes up for the slight delay of only a couple minutes.

This place is the perfect example of a really good Mexican restaurant turning bad. Years ago this was the go-to place for authentic Mexican seafood. In the evening the bar was packed with young Mexican men, dressed in their finest western wear, blasting Mariachi music and the latest hit Mexican love songs. The dining room, in back, was a mix of hispanics, California transplants and a few adventurous Gresham folk. There were two guys woking the bar, and two girls working the tables - the place was hopping. I don't know what happened, but literally overnight, the bar was empty. the jukebox was silent, and the help was gone. The demographics changed and the folks eating here didn't order the massive seafood cocktails, Pescado En Mojo De Ajo, or the truly hot Camarones A La Diabla. Instead, they ordered enchiladas, and burritos and chips. The love was gone, and the food suffered. It's really too bad, and I live and hope that someday the jukebox will again croon out the latest Mexican love song, and the bar will be full of cowboy boots, and the wonderful seafood specialties that made this place so special will once again take the spotlight.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
