It saddens me that Yelp HQ wouldn't take down a review that makes harsh, passive-aggressive character judgments about these very hard-working, kind, independent business owners. I contacted three recent reviewers who made character assassinations and I also flagged a review with Yelp HQ and nothing happened. That just saddens me. I'm updating my review as I have experienced more of the food from Liberated Baking. I was recently there on a business trip and so happy they were open so I could get breakfast and lunch each day of my trip (except for Sunday). I drive from Seattle and Liberated Baking was my first stop! I took some great photos of their treats. This was the first time I tried their sandwiches. I bought three sandwiches for three different days of lunches. Also, I tried their breakfast sliders, which were amazing and delicious. This trip I deviated from my regular vegan preferences and had their products with meat, cheese, dairy, eggs, and butter. Seriously...I'm not going back to their vegan offerings...as lovely as they are. It just worked out better for my trip to eat what they had the days I was there. I am so grateful they were open and had incredible offerings for me. They really know how to make a sandwich and breakfast slider. As a small business owner myself, I just give them praise and honor for opening and running a totally needed gluten-free business with vegan offerings, and meat offerings. I've found the business owners and staff to always meet my needs with their delicious food. They have always been kind to me, and generous. I appreciate them and can't wait for my next visit to that area so I can load up on great gluten-free food. And for anyone concerned about "high prices" I just have to say that they serve high quality products. I was able to eat two meals a day for three days of my business trip there for $18-20 a day. I ate well for breakfast, lunch, and a snack with their food for $18-20. For a dedicated gluten-free bakery that is an incredible deal. Thank you Liberated Baking for all your hard work 7-days a week. Your staff and you are incredibly appreciated! I hope future reviews reflect praise and love for how awesome you all are. Blessings to you! :-)

The cupcakes run out really quickly in the morning so you should hurry The gluten free chocolate chip cookie was so good... better than the original!

LOVE all of their goodies! And lunches are excellent as well! Really wonderful to have excellent gluten free items on this side. The owners, Chris and Tanda are great as well.

Liberated Bakery was a surprise find. The staff are friendly and efficient and my lunch was tasty - I had a turkey and avo sandwich on their fresh baked whole grain bread, along with a Reeds ginger ale and a bag of jalapeño Kettle Chips. Yum! They also make soups - today's soup is mulligatawny - and pot pies - I do like a good pot pie. I'll be back. :-)

My wife and I just had a breakfast sandwich $3.75 for a gluten free roll, cheese, ham. Tasty but way skimpy on the ham. One super thin piece of so so ham, otherwise OK.

Fantastic white bread! Fluffy garlic bread loaves!!!! Delicious cinnamon rolls!!! Amazing cupcakes!!!!!!! My daughter has been gluten free for almost 8 years. What a delightful place. Truly the best gluten free bakery we have ever experienced.
(5)Kevin S.
Though better known for sweets, they make one hell of a sandwich. This thing would shame any five dollar footlong - big, tasty, and...tasty. I'd eat them all the time if I lived near here!

Yum! Don't expect a warm reception here- They pretty much just seem to want to get you your pastries and get you out of their faces- but then again, I went in shortly before they closed and the likelihood is that they were trying to get the shop closed down for the night. I ordered a strawberry chocolate chip muffin for myself, and a "vegan chocolate party" cupcake for the missus. She is slightly paranoid about frostings, and many of them taste storebought to her. She seemed to like the cupcake, but was worried about the frosting until I told her "no, it's vegan, they just don't use any animal products in it so if you taste anything different it's probably just the substitutions." I tasted it, and thought it was fabulous. The muffin was fantastic. They're a bit pricey, but for a gluten free bakery in GRESHAM with many vegan options, I'd come back for sure.

I love this place! While I was skeptical at first Due to the reviews I decided I would go check it out myself and I am so glad I did. I feel welcomed every time I go and look forward to vegan Wednesdays! As a recent vegan I am so glad to have something so close to where I live that has yummy food. I also like that they offer a military discount... Thanks ;)

Stopped in for a sweet treat. Got the vegan chocolate chip cookie and the Dutch chocolate cookie. Both were really good but the chocolate chip cookie was amazing!

I really didn't want to post this, because I think it's absolutely wonderful that there is a gluten free bakery with yummy treats all the way out in Gresham, but I felt like I *needed* too! The employees here are not happy people. I don't know if it's that they are extremely shy or depressed or what, but they all are just simply not friendly, don't smile, and come off as though they truly hate to answer simple questions (especially the older woman). The atmosphere has been "dead"/super stoic/not inviting on every occasion that I've entered the bakery, and bought their product (once during the week and the other times on weekends). Maybe they need some music? I have no idea. I even brought a buddy with me for objectivity on my last visit, and he agreed. I've patronized several bakeries in the Portland-metro-area, both gluten free and not, and I've never had a bad experience like at this place (I LOVE New Cascadia Traditional--they're totally the gold standard for gluten free goodness in the Portland area. P.S. They are less expensive and use *much* higher quality ingredients than Liberated does). Granted, I've only been here three times, but the people who work here are horrible at customer service....enough to make me not want to return, which is unfortunate because the the baked goods are tasty! I wanted to give them a second--and third chance--and I did. On top of this, I never complain about customer service at places; I'm flexible and not a picky person by nature, but this place just doesn't have a nice atmosphere at all. Anyway, I feel like this review is much too long. I hope they take this feedback and improve their outlook and customer service because I think their product is decent and it is definitely filling a void out in the far-east side/Gresham area! :)

This place is wonderful. So glad we came in. Brought my mother here for lunch and she is not gluten free however found it to be great. The bread is wonderful and the meats are great. My wife had the Cobb salad and it was absolutely delicious and of great size. Wonderful bang for the buck and they serve trillium coffee... We will definitely be back.... So glad I live so close as they made me a believer.

Oh holy cupcakes. These are GOOD. No, there isn't a word for how good these are. They get a whole bonus star for making gluten free cupcakes that taste just as heavenly as traditional cupcakes. The cake is moist but dense enough that it doesn't crumble, perfect cake-to-frosting ratio, tastes very fresh. I have absolutely no interest in gluten free products; I eat them just because they're good! I don't have a reason to hit up this side of town anymore, but I'm tempted to find a reason just so I can go get more cupcakes!
(5)Connie R.
Liberated Baking ROCK! I thought when the doctor said I was gluten intolerant, I would never eat sweets again... WRONG!! We love their sandwiches, soups, loaves of bread, and all the baked goodies. We can't get enough of their food and I have them on speed dial, and my husband picks it up on his way home. Chris and the other employees know us by name which is so cool. And they give a 10% military discount! Even if you don't have to eat G free...check it out. Yummy, yummy, yummy!
(5)Wade N.
Everything looks great. If you have gluten issues this might just be the ticket. Nice location with very clean and friendly building and staff. I'd definitely return.
(4)Carrie G.
I purchased a 1/2 dozen variety of cupcakes. They were buy 5, get one free. They were all excellent, the carrot cake cupcake was my favorite, very moist. I would ever guess they were vegan and gluten free. The frosting was perfection! The shop was clean and pretty. The staff was friendly and informative. I'll be back!
(5)Jason H.
Hopefully you increase your variety of Products and have a greater selection.

I have celiac so going somewhere, where I can eat everything is extremely rare.I stopped in, for my first time a few days ago. I was promptly greeted, the place looked very clean and cute! I tried the maple bacon scone, mulberry muffin, cinnamon roll, and a loaf of the multi grain. Everything was delicious! Though, I'm not too fond of the loaf. The girl at the counter warned me it has a strange taste, due to the Amaranth flour. I will most definitely be frequenting this bakery!

After almost 3 months of needing to have a gluten free diet, I have finally found an awesome place to get quality baked goods! Their prices are very reasonable and their service was so great! They even threw in a free brownie for me! Very sweet people! Their pumpkin cake was delicious as was the snickerdoodle cookie. I've yet to eat my brownie, but I'm looking forward to. I would highly recommend them. I'm going back soon!
(5)Rick J.
Great food even if you are not Gluten free! Happy customer here. Nice people, good food.
(5)Jessica B.
Love the menu and the breakfast bars are very tasty! I had no idea gluten free products could taste this good! I ordered 10 bars, froze them and then stuck them in the microwave when I wanted them for 20 seconds. Great option for the active lifestyle!

Liberated Baking is a brand new, GLUTEN FREE bakery in Gresham!! Yay!!! Gresham is starving for new restaurants and as someone who follows a Paleo lifestyle, this bakery is bound to be my new Gresham fave! Opened in the last week, they are still finishing up the final touches and will soon be offering bread as well as coffee, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, sandwiches and soups! Custom made cakes too! Their products contain no wheat, rye, or barley. I tried their garlic bread sticks yesterday----OH MY. The best bread sticks I have ever had and you would never, ever know they are gluten free! I should have taken a photo to share, but I was too busy wolfing them down to take the time, sorry. I also tried a beautiful cupcake (Ok, I only ate half of it due to the sugar), which was pretty good for gluten-free. I look forward to trying many more of their offerings in the months to come. Prices were very reasonable. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 8am to 6pm, so it is a great place to pick up breakfast pastries or cinnamon rolls, or to drop by for lunch or a light dinner on your way home from work. They also had a small selection of other gluten free products for sale. Welcome to Gresham, Liberated Baking!

Since having to go GF, its been very hard to find a good deli sandwich. But now I have and Omg, yes, I will be back again and again and again! Also, the cookies are so damn soft and delicious my mouth is watering now just thinking about them.
(5)K M.
I always go here for my mom, and they know her by name. The food is great, we always buy a bag of their round bread. It's great.
(5)Graycen A.
Racists? I had really appreciated the food here but customer service is horrible! I just went in today to pick up something that I had on hold (10 min after I called). There's one woman at the register, I come in, and no one acknowledged that I came in. After a 3 min wait another woman comes in behind me to pick up something also on hold. They say hello to her, grab her stuff, then when the woman ahead of me leaves, the employee turns to the woman behind me and apologizes that she has to ring me up first! I had gotten there like 5 min before that woman! The only thing I saw that differentiated us was that I'm not white. I will never go back.

Gluten Free Bakery! Bought a $5 GINORMOUS GF Cinnamon Roll - warmed it, quartered it, buttered it & O. M. Goodness! Ridunkulously delicious!
(5)Robynn H.
The best bread ever! And cupcakes! And cinnamon rolls! Haven't found anything I don't like. Do yourself a favor and STOP buying frozen gluten free bread from the big names and come here instead. It is well worth it.
(5)Mallory S.
Easily gets five stars! I just happened to be in Gresham and searched "gluten free" on here and found Liberated Baking. The reviews I read were great but I didn't have high hopes. I was in a hurry so I just got a turkey and cheese croissant and a snickerdoodle cookie, both from the display case. I ate the cookie on the way home and it was amazing! For a second I was almost worried I was eating gluten! I warmed the croissant when I got home and it was heavenly. It was flakey and perfect. I can't wait to go there again!

Waiting at the counter for my daughters special order birthday cake, a new customer asked me if there is a menu. Doing my best Vanna White impersonation, I directed his attention to the vast array of treats safely behind glass for us all to drool over. Not sure what something is, it's okay the friendly staff is more than happy to tell you about every one of the yummy items available. Beware, if you come hungry you may NEED to buy one or two of everything! There are mainstays that are available each day but there is plenty variety to keep you on the edge of your seat guessing what's next. One day it is carrot cake another it's a berry torte, one day it was even a chocolate chocolate chocolate masterpiece that forced me to drive back 30 minutes later for a second piece before they closed. On another occasion when I was getting my fix, a customer asked the owner about calories, lets just say if you are counting calories, you might stay away from the Black Forest or well any of the cakes. Generous is a great word for the portions, my son didn't believe the chocolate chip cookie was as big as his head, until he disappeared before my eyes. Dinner was a slice of white bread and pumpkin chocolate chili, thank you! Trust me when I say your belly will be happy if you take it to Liberated Baking!

Had to give the cinnamon rolls another try, and I have to say this one is much better than the one I had in May. Definitely gooey and not all dough. It was picky teenager approved. The Triple Chocolate Cupcakes are excellent as well. Plus they have Jensen's burger & hot dog buns! If you've ever had a gluten free burger at The Local Cow in Gresham, those are the buns they use. And as always the staff/owners are uber friendly. :) May review: Tried this place for the first time today. The person who helped me was very nice and let me taste test some of the bread before buying. Definitely a good texture bread so I bought a loaf, and a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll is good, but it needs more gooey cinnamon filling to balance out the heavy dough. More icing would be good too. I'll definitely be trying out other goodies here once in awhile, and probably end up a regular for the gluten free bread.

Sadly must agree with some of the less-than-perfect reviews. I was *so* excited to have a gluten free bakery for myself and my son (both celiacs). I've been there quite a few times. But, the customer service isn't good (put-out to say the least. I don't even feel comfortable staying there to eat what I bought), not great variety in the food, and the cakes are crazy over-priced. I've been gluten free for years and know GF is just more expensive, but some of their prices are just ridiculous.

This place is a favorite with our whole family, and only a couple of us are gluten-free. I was going to write a huge, glowing review but I think the other reviewers mostly have it covered. I only have a few things to add: - Custom birthday cakes. Get one for your birthday. - If you're lucky enough to arrive on a day when they have lemon meringue bars or orange chocolate chip muffins, get them. Trust me on this. Everything they make is great, but these two are OMG-GREAT. - Need a place to stop for lunch? Their soup and sandwiches are always a hit. You really don't need to be gluten-free to enjoy the treats and sandwiches here. But if you need to be gluten free like I do, the peace of mind knowing it's a fully GF facility sure is nice.

I have been gluten free for 8 yrs, and have tried many bakeries in and around Portland! Liberty is by far the best! We had a French club sandwich, beautiful thick bread, that didn't fall apart. Yummy chocolate cookies, and a blueberry scone for the morning. My soon to be birthday cake is already ordered!
(5)Nichole M.
Multigrain bread and banana bread are amazing as well as the various cookies I've tried. Had a sandwich today which was fantastic and large :) well worth the money. My only wish is that they had some paleo options.
(5)Lauren W.
I decided to try the UBER-expensive gluten-free bakery... I am much less than impressed. The breads are the same crumbly, fall-apart, bland/tasteless crud that makes people who need gluten free disappointed and disheartened. I bake gluten free bread at home all the time. It is time consuming. I would LOVE some help, being able to buy some bread would be great. But their breads taste so actually awful that I cannot use them. They need to start using coconut and almond flour instead... and they need to be charging somewhere near competitive prices with regular bread. It's almost $8 per loaf!!!..... Most people are not going to be able to afford that for what for them is regular bread... seems kinda duh to me... Might go there for one of the chocolate chunk cookies on a special occasion. But this is a very poorly done business. They have impractical pricing, and the quality of the food is substandard. I would not recommend them for anything else.

Hands down the best gluten free baked goods in Portland if not in the NorthWest! The food here is better than most regular bakeries that I've been to. The Cinnamon Rolls are the best I've had. Their bread, although a bit on the moist side, beats any other GF bread out there. It is soft, springy and most of all it is not gritty! They offer Panini's made on their focaccia bread which is amazing! When I'm needing a sandwich this will be my number one stop. The staff is friendly, happy to answer questions and are dedicated to making the very best baked goods. The dining area is very inviting and comfortable. As I write this review, I'm enjoying some toast with peanut butter made with the bread from Liberated Baking. Finally, I can enjoy baked goods once again. Thank you Liberated Baking! - Mike

This place is the real thing!! The prices are very reasonable and the presentation is beautiful. The owners are kind and personable. The staff take an obvious pride in their work. More importantly, I have a GF Kid; he doesn't have to feel left out anymore. We make a weekly trip to Liberated Baking to pick up special treats just for him. I'm a fan, for sure!!
(5)Kelly K.
I found the place to be for those who are gluten free, whether by choice or health, come one, come all to Liberated Baking for stress free lunches and goodies galore. A delicious sea for the eyes to feast upon, tantalizing the gluten free who want to indulge or just enjoy a sandwich while out and about. I checked out Liberated Baking after a friend procured one of their cakes for my birthday. It was so delicious. The first time I was there, I went on a date with my dh and even he (gluten fan) raved about their sandwiches. If you don't know, everything here is gluten free...everything. So, there is no risk of contamination as there is no gluten ever in the building. For someone who has suffered illness from supposedly gluten free friendly places who also serve gluten, this is a relief. Continuing, we had the beef soup and sandwiches, coffee and a sampling of shortbread, cupcakes and pastries. The monkey bread or pull-apart bread was delicious. There was some white chocolate treat (I normally hate white chocolate for being too sweet) I loved. The shortbread was a bit on the dry side, but they had been open for only two weeks, so I'm sure it's been ironed out. The next time I visited, I purchased a variety of goodies, and one loaf of each of their breads. This time I tried their cinnamon roll. It has a good cinnamon to sugar ratio and just the right amount of frosting, but was on the dense side. I say this with the desire for it to be as flaky as its gluten counterpart. I have faith this can be accomplished as they make such good bread, cakes, and other goodies. The whole grain bread is good for what it is. However, my daughter found out that apparently she is sensitive to the taste of Amaranth flour, which if you are sensitive to it, tastes a bit like bad seaweed. They say most people are not sensitive to it though and the bread sells out, so I believe it. The white sandwich bread is the bomb. It is full of yeasty air holes, not too sweet, and soft as sandwich bread should be. It's a larger loaf then Udi's or Rudi's for the same cost and Liberated Baking's bread is a far better quality product. Chris is one of the owners and he is always willing to listen to feedback and weigh what he hears. Obviously, the majority of customers rule. I am normally not a person who like bought cakes, cupcakes and the like because they are far too sweet. Chris and the bakers here make it just right, which makes me happy. My daughter and I love the sandwich bread so much, I am beginning to make special trips once every two weeks or so (a half hour away for me) to pick up a few loaves and I always leave with a treat or two. Who wouldn't? This shop is worth the drive. They are located back from the street a bit, and the building sits at an angle, so they are not the easiest to find the first time without GPS of some kind to tell you what parking lot to turn in to. They also have a small shelving system to the left of the display case with boxed gluten free foods you can purchase as well. I saw some pastas, Annie's gluten free Mac and cheese, etc. They have several small, two seater tables and a couple of four seater tables. There are no booths or large tables. The coffee is drip and self serve, along with water. As others have mentioned, they do not have a menu. This is because their stock changes daily. They always have some kind of cupcake or cake available, some kind of cookies, sandwiches and bread. The rest changes every day, which is good. Variety in life is good. You don't need to take my word for it, look at the bevy of good reviews here. I didn't need to say anything, but Chris and the group are so nice and the ability to not worry I'll get sick when I go out to eat make me want to add my voice to the chorus.
(5)Heather B.
I am not gluten free by choice, and have tried many baked goods over the years. Everything here at Liberated has exceeded my expectations. I LOVE the idea of having them thin slice the focaccia bread for sandwich slices at home. It's an amazing find for me.
