flying pie is not my favorite pizza but bigP loves the stuff so we eat here every 3 months or so. we usually get the same thing: miss piggy with extra cheese. the thing is absolutely *loaded* with toppings and cheese. the crust is good in texture and flavor and even the thinner crust (my preference) holds up well to all those toppings. another yelper mentioned that the crust can sometimes be under done and i second that. they get very busy and push them pies out as fast as they can but if you ask they will gladly cook yours a little longer. it can be very loud and busy after baseball/football/basketball games and its not uncommon to have 2 or 3 or 4 different teams in at once after the game! in this instance we place our order to go. the pies seem to be ready faster for to-go orders. it is a comfortable and clean dining room during the weekday afternoons. the salad bar is decent, has all the basics, but at over $5 for one plate it's not a good deal. i think the all you can eat salad is $7+. i enjoy the croutons a lot... perhaps house made? i'll ask next time i stop in. the employees are always younger and always very friendly and helpful. i am glad this locally owned business still employs the kids. it would seem they have good management and they really try to do a great job. thanks you guys! so while it is not my favorite i do like it a lot and suggest you try it out as well! btw: they do deliver but they will *not* go out of the mapped delivery area, even if you only live 5 streets outside of that mapped area and you bribe them with a $20 tip! (ahem... your competitor, whose name rhymes with bellagios, is father from my house than you and will deliver without a bribe and they get tipped FAT for the favor!)

Well you can't say they skimp on toppings. For Gresham, this is pretty decent pizza. Chewy doughy crust, and generous with your toppings. Very friendly staff, quick to get my order and they had all the to-go pizza necessities ready when I came in.

I have no idea how this place has no review talking about the massive amount of grease and possible undercooked meat they are shelling out. My family and I decided to grab some za from a new place (we love Bellagios and tolerate Wallstreet). We walked in and the salad bar was fresh, the staff was friendly and there were some great people enjoying food in the dining area. My husband ordered a Combo 1 and we got a small cheese pizza for my child. The toppings are a bit on the ridiculous side. I've never seen an ENTIRE large onion make its way onto a medium pizza and I'm sure there was over a pound of meat (cheap quality, you can tell by the way it cooks...) on it. I had one slice and couldn't eat anything else. My child's pizza had to be blotted as the grease pooled in the middle... I ended up having another slice after shopping and errands for the day and that was it for me. I just couldn't get past how packed these toppings were...and then the sickness started. For the last 36 hours I have been doubled over in pain as I pass the ATROCITY I ingested. The pizza gave both my husband and I horrible diarrhea. I'm pregnant and have had a much worse time with this sickness than he has. I've lost precious 3 day weekend sleep because I have had to get up to go to the bathroom mid sleep! I personally think it wasn't JUST that it was greasy, but that the meats on the pizza were not cooked all the way through. I have had "get the pepto" pizza...pepto has laughed at this sickness. We are by no means sensitive to junk food (at least we didnt think we were till we read all these reviews with no mention of others getting sick). I will NEVER go back to this place as nice and as well presented as they may be because I just don't know what the eff happened to my insides after eating two of the smallest pieces I could find on the pan!

I LOVE this spot! From a friendly staff to quality pizza, it's great! Been coming in for years, and I really enjoy the lunch special, one og the ONLY spots in Gresham to get a slice for lunch and a fresh salad. Definitely recommend to friends, also the pinball is a plus!

If you're not into toppings, this is not the place for you. If you are into frufru pizza that is overly priced and you have to wait in a two-hour line, this is not the place for you. If you're too scared about an expanding waist line to enjoy sloppy, gut-bomb goodness every now and then, this is not the place for you. As for me, I am a topping aficionado and the Pie never disappoints. This was my first rodeo at this location, and I was extremely pleased with the old-school family pizzeria feel, the cleanliness of the salad bar, the service overall, and the pizza was just what this mom-to-be NEEDED on Mother's Day. The sourdough crust was pretty perfect, and I am in love with their sauce. And, please take note, a large pizza will serve two people for three days...just sayin'.

An ACDC pinball machine, need I say more. Well of course. this is the type of place to take a group of people from work, your family or your little league team. pizza is doughy yeasty yummy. tossed right in front of you. and do they ever lay on the toppings. it's like each slice gets as least as much as what goes into a foot long at subway. good beers on tap, sports on the TV, entertainment for the kiddos.

Flying Pie Pizzeria is an ok choice for pizza if you are already in Gresham and don't have the gas money to drive further. It's the pizza you settle for, not the one you set out to get. It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but it will do in a pinch. As other reviewers have noted, they are very generous with toppings on their pizza, but I find that they are a little skimpy with the cheese. The calzones do a bit better as far as cheesiness goes, and their calzones are big enough that you can get 2 nice meals out of them. Still, both the pizza and the calzone that I got from here (on 2 separate occasions) could have benefited from an additional 5 minutes in the oven. I've only ever gotten takeout, but the counter staff is always courteous in person and on the phone when I place my order. It's an ok local pizza place.

* Pizza has a chewy flavorful dough and tons of toppings. * I usually limit toppings to 1 or 2. * Sausage is in gargantuan chunks. It is good quality and I can see how some would come especially for it but not for everyone. * I get salami instead of pepperoni for less grease (anywhere I get pizza) * They make their own Alfredo sauce *Always friendly and accommodating. The lunch special rocks....I call mine in and take it to go. A giant slice , salad bar, breadstick and a drink for 7 bucks. (plus I always tip my girl :) Most the time I eat the salad and breadstick and don't even eat my pizza til later that night at home. Melissa has been taking my orders for 5 years ...maybe more...and she gave me a tip to reheat my pizza slice in a frying pan.....its like heaven....so crispy and much easier than the oven for just one slice (i just can't microwave pizza ...probably rather eat it cold ).

Went here on a busy Sunday afternoon. I called ahead to check on available seating and was told they would reserve a table for us right away. Once inside I was greeted by a hollered hello from behind the counter. I was impressed that despite the huge line our presence was noticed right away. The line went by quickly and our order was taken without incident. The enormous salad bar to my left beckoned, but I was there for a diet breaking greasy pepperoni. Once in our seats I realized there was three parties simultaneously in session at nearby tables. If the server wouldn't have reserved our table we would never have found a seat. Despite the crowded dining area our pizza came promptly and didn't dissapoint. Crispy crust topped with just the right amount of sauce, cheese and pepperoni. A perfect meal paired with an ice cold pitcher of drop top amber ( which they have on tap BTW.) I noticed loads of other topping options on the menu that I will be back to try next time, along with that salad bar.. trust me this pizzeria doesn't disappoint.

If you like pizza places that give you a s*** load of toppings, this is the place to come to. Their meat lovers pizza is the best pizza i've ever had. It's gonna cost you quite a bit of $$$ compared to papa johns or someone like that. I think I paid $26 for a large combination pizza. I enjoy coming here and recommend it to everyone

Pizza was Delicious; Service was GREAT; And quality was outstanding. Fun little pizzeria in East county. Definitely my favorite pizza spot in East County/ Gresham area

The gluten free crust here is amazing. Amazing! You can only order a pie in the 12" size, but you can put a lot of toppings on there. The crust was thin, just a tiny bit chewy and super tasty. It reminds me of the sourdough crust I love so much and can no longer have. My husband isn't a fan of most gluten free products but he thought that crust was better than what was on his standard pie. I got pesto, artichoke hearts, sausage, black olives and spinach on it and it tasted even better as a leftover the next day!

I've been a regular at Flying Pie since I was in Highschool. So to reveal my age was about close to 21 years ago since my first experience with this great pizza establishment. I will admit that I'm kind of a Nazi when it comes to which location I prefer which is quite obviously the Stark st. location. Being new to the Gresham area I decided to give this venue a shot and after 3 tries I feel like I can fairly give this location 3 stars. Why 3 stars you may ask? Well, for starters this location obviously doesn't have the charm or aged appearance of the original which you can't really blame them for cause you want to be able to adapt to the demographic area that you are catering to. I think that the Flying Pie Name is famous enough to be able to venture out of that realm and go about their style and appearance. Although the topping and ingredients are the same here I will say that I can feel the passion isn't quite there. I look at their employees and I don't feel like they have a sense of pride in what they do. You walk into the Stark St. location and you can tell each and every one of their employees is proud to say they are employed by one of the best pizza joints in the Portland metro area. In conclusion, I'll still come here because its close to my house but when I'm in the mood to keep it real you'll know where to find me. Happy Eating Everyone...

One of my favorite lunch spots in East county. Great salad bar, huge slice, drink. Bam. I'm sick all afternoon from eating too much though... As with both Flying pie locations: be careful with the toppings you order, they pile them on so high that it can be overwhelming. I have also had the pink sausage experience here and I don't care what anyone tells me, saugage should be cooked all the way. Big heavy hitting pizza is how I classify these guys. Another thought is you may want to order your pizza well done, they tend to undercook it a bit and the thick crust can be doughy sometimes.
(5)
Allison T.
The pizza was too saucey and all of my toppings fell off. The Canadian Bacon tasted like cheap, off-brand ham. The crust was also not very good. I would prefer frozen pizza over Flying Pie, at least the one in Gresham. The staff wasn't overly friendly, and it was crazy busy at 8pm on a weekday. I would never want to eat in the restaurant because it's super loud.

Mike K.
Best pizza joint in the Portland area. My wife and I can't even finish a small they are so huge, we ended up taking half to go. The huge chunks of sausage are so good, they pile the topping on like pizza champs. Flying Pie owns pizza. 5-stars in every way!

When I'm in the mood for pizza that I'm not worried about the calories on (and the heartburn after) this is one of my "go to" delivery places that are in the area. In my opinion the quality of the ingredients could be a little better but the price is already high enough but definitely worth it. There are so many different variations of crust and styles and doughs to choose from that it would take many visits to really decide what you might like so don't judge just by the first one you don't like.. The service for me has always been pleasant, fast and correct. They usually say a long delivery time and it never takes that long, I think they do that to make them look better but I'm happy with it. The online menu is easy to read and usually has the most updated prices and availability. If you're looking for a fancy meal don't come here but if you want an American pizza try them out once or twice see what you think.

For sheer volume - and a good crust. I recommend asking for a longer fire, 5 more minutes really makes a difference! Good salad bar, meh beer selections. Mmm pizza!

Flying Pie is my favorite pizza place in Gresham. They have a fabulous pizza. I enjoy the lunch special. A big slice of pizza (toppings of your choice) one trip through the salad bar. Salad bar items are fresh and clean with homemade croutons. Bread stick and a drink. Great price, a great place for a large group.

I'm very impressed with the customer service. It's the day before thanksgiving and these employees dealt with my drunk ass, worked late, and dealt with us picking up our order late. AND the pizza was amazing. Seriously loaded with toppings

A couple of things. First, this has a very traditional pizza place vibe. If you like watching the guys throw the pizzas, you enjoy a pitcher of beer, playing some video games in the corner while waiting, then this is your place. Quality of pizza is good. They put a lot of toppings on. I especially like their red sauces, which they have a couple of cans of out on display (stanislaus food products). They are very tasty, and they serve the sauce on the side for dipping with their cheesy bread. Prices are a little high compared to chains, but reasonable when compared to their peers (like bellagios down the street or main st. pizza). If you want a pizza in gresham, give Flying Pie a shot.

I give it no stars! Frozen Party Pizza is better! There was NO SAUCE! They claim to have fresh ingredients????the mushrooms were canned! NEVER AGAIN! I am in the process of heating up my frozen Pizza! I could not eat it! Years ago I went to Stark and I remember it being ok.....VERY DISAPPOINTED :( Big waste of 30.00....Wow how can you mess up pizza?????
(1)
Thomas B.
First of all The pizza is great just don't do delivery. I ordered with delivery after about an hour I received a phone call telling me they had messed up the order and it would be about forty more minutes. I was told they would bring me an extra small pizza for being put out. When the delivery guy showed up there was only one pizza. When I asked about the other one he informed me the manager had changed his mind and I would get some sort of credit on my next order. Like I said the pizza was great the service just sucked! My advice to the manager don't promise something to a consumer and not deliver(excuse the pun).

I dine at Flying Pie in Gresham on a regular basis and the food has never disappointed me. I have tried the majority of their pizza flavors and they always put an abundant amount of toppings on. The staff has always been friendly and the dining room is always clean. This is my favorite pizza place in Gresham. Also, I have eaten at the Flying Pie on Stark and I could not tell the difference between the two Flying Pies (some claim the Stark street one is superior). However, the staff was much less friendly at the Stark street establishment. Perhaps I went at a bad time.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch before heading out of town. We got calzones - pepperoni for him, veggie for me. My husband liked his (although he said it was a little spicy), but I couldn't eat mine. The veggies were not cooked well and created a watery, soggy mess of a calzone. It tasted awful. I couldn't eat it so I went back in and got a small salad instead. I will say they had a nice salad bar. I was pretty disappointed that I spent our allotted lunch money on this. I should have just opted for Subway like my husband suggested.

The available Gluten & Egg free crust is amazing! Flying Pie always piles on the toppings, making a pizza that is filling and worth every penny. Their pizza is by far the best gluten free pizza in Gresham, especially if you cannot have egg as well.

The Gresham Flying Pie Pizzeria is Awful. The Flying Pie on 78th and Stark is Awesome! My husband and I were at the one in Gresham and the restaurant was filthy. We saw an employee wipe their nose with a glove on & keep making pizza. When we got our pizza the sausage was very pink inside. We took it back to the counter & were told that was how it was supposed to be. The staff was rude and acted like we were bothering them when we asked for a box. We will not go back!!

The salad bar is just ok, but the pizza is really good and loaded with toppings. The lunch special is a good value and the slice is huge. I will definately be back.

Get the lunch special....a slice,1 trip to the salad bar and a drink. They have a ton of ingredients and their slices a big. Fast and friendly service. The also have calzone and sandwiches which are quite tasty also.

Got the lunch special and it was a great deal! Salad bar had a ton of toppings and some really good croutons (looked homemade). I added toppings to the cheese slice that comes in the special and they really piled it on! Huge slice!

First time I visited here, I thought the pizza was pretty good. I wasn't so thrilled about the 40 minute wait for it, but thought, hey....if it's cooked from scratch maybe that's what it takes! The owner was on the premises and he was friendly and asked us about our food which I appreciated. . Based on my first experience, I went there again for lunch the other day and UGH! What a difference! I ordered a thin crust pizza that came with so many toppings it was gross! The thin crust was soggy beneath the weight of all of the meat and cheese piled high on top. Maybe they put the same amount of toppings no matter what the crust is? It might have been tasty had they reduced the toppings by 90% and perhaps the crust would have been what you expect from thin crust - crisp! I ate a slice of pizza and so did my husband (we were already hungry upon arrival and the wait for pizza was 40 min like first visit). We left the rest of the $20 medium pizza on the table - it wasn't worth taking home : ( So, first time with owner present, not a bad experience. Second time in afternoon, no owner and wasn't that great. I probably won't risk another 40 minutes and $20 to try again to see if the third time is the charm.

I just got to say that I've eaten pizza from all over, but none beat Flying Pie Pizzeria in Gresham, Oregon. Their pizza tasted soooo good. All freshly chopped and made. Although, it took awhile for us to get our pizza, the waiting was well worth it because... it tasted heavenly. Their crust is to die for as well. But... One of their most outstanding traits is their employees. On, Thursday night, we went in to eat. Being a tourist to Oregon, (I am from Hawai'i-California), I took my camera out that night and snapped away. Didn't realize that I had left my camera on the table there the night before. Well, needless to say, we called the establishment the next morning and they said they have it in their safe. I was so happy. There is just not too many honest people out there. I just want to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to employee SARAH who works in Gresham, Oregon. Honesty-Integrity of their employees are most valued along with the great food they make. Much Kudos to you all. Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

In my opinion, hands down the best pizza around...lots of topping, fresh, and very delicious...my family will not eat pizza anywhere else...Great job flying pie!

(1)Thomas B.

A bit pricey, but high quality pizza that has a unique taste all its own. Worth trying, but don't be surprised if you'll love it.

Pizza is amazing worth the price and wait!
(5)Josh M.
The available Gluten & Egg free crust is amazing! Flying Pie always piles on the toppings, making a pizza that is filling and worth every penny. Their pizza is by far the best gluten free pizza in Gresham, especially if you cannot have egg as well.
(5)Andrea P.
(1)Nick R.
The salad bar is just ok, but the pizza is really good and loaded with toppings. The lunch special is a good value and the slice is huge. I will definately be back.
(4)Liz L.
Ate in a few years ago and remember it being SO good, this time it was like frozen box pizza. Positive if you love toppings as they pile them on but overall pizza fail.
(2)Brian H.
Get the lunch special....a slice,1 trip to the salad bar and a drink. They have a ton of ingredients and their slices a big. Fast and friendly service. The also have calzone and sandwiches which are quite tasty also.
(4)Nicki M.

Mahalo Nui Loa, Audrey
