Woke up really hungry after a ~10hr drive from Southern California. A local recommended this place so I gave it a try. I had a bacon omelette with hash browns. It was cooked right and the flavor was great. Awesome "mom and pop" restaurant. There aren't many out there anymore.

Screwed up order 5 times and still tasted horrible. My 9 year old can microwave food better than this place. Avoid at all cost. The bar sucks too. Waitress was a nice lady. The building is very dated and the carpet is black even though that is not the actual color. Might have been a great place in the past but now surviving on past achievements.

My father-in-law has been coming here for coffee for years. I recently moved to town and found this place very home like. Breakfast is good and the coffee is hot. A lot of the old timers come here and can tell ya a lot about this place and the city. Leaves those franchise restaurants downtown and visit Herbs. PS: our waitress definitely knows the menu. Been working here for over 25 years

Nasty nasty and more nasty! If you want frozen or boxed food OK but it was more than gross! Never ever again! Mexican dishes were bland and same sauce . Totally disgusting!

This place doesn't look like much on the outside, but it would absolutely blow a Denny's or ihop out of the water. My party of 3 had buscuits and gravy, a breakfast burrito, and a corned beef hash dish, and each was absolutely a huge portion and really really tasty. The coffee was really pretty decent too. I was very surprised. And the bill for 3 was just over $20. Truly a great deal. Service was genuinely friendly too, which is so rare. We would definitely go back.

I have eaten here several time for breakfast or lunch and the food is good. Today, after a cold trip on the Rumble Bee, I ordered corned beef hash with eggs over easy; however, I forgot to ask if the hash was canned or made from scratch. Unfortunately, the hash was canned but on the good side, there were several options for sides and I took the Spanish rice which was good. The service here has always been prompt, thorough and friendly. This is a local hang out that few tourists find. Both American traditional and Mex-Am. food is served. The location is a bit awkward even if you know your way around Grants Pass because the restaurant and (separate) bar are located between a one-way section of old Hwy. 99 and a local street that ends on the highway to Murphy.

We've eaten here for a long time. But, we just had our first completely below average meal at Herb's. More expensive, smaller portions and not fresh hash, biscuits, or ham. Has Herb's changed hands? It's always been much better in the past. New management?

I first came to Herb's in search of the best chile relleno in Southern Oregon. It was not to be found at Herb's. This is American Food at it's most mediocre. We'll just leave it at that. What is interesting about Herb's is, in addition to the restaurant, there is a lounge (Shenanigan's)! Old folks come to Shenanigans to get their drink on. Some evenings they may get their two step on too, country music style; or, get their croon on, karaoke style. Then there is the "Outback". It is still Herb's but has a separate entrance with a burly bouncer. The burly bouncer is a good thing because there are seemingly more bar brawls at the Outback than at all the other drinking establishments put together. Mostly young, energetic, wired up kids who DO NOT want to save the drama for their mama. No, they want to share it all with you! Weekends the restaurant is open 24 hours which, to some, is a good thing.

I was looking for a local cafe/diner to have a meal on a long drive from Northern California back to Portland. Got off at Medford and there was nothing. Got off again I-5 at Grant's Pass and stumbled into Herb's. It was exactly what I wanted, local folks, home cooking, and a really pleasant local feel. My prime rib was perfectly cooked and the fresh veggies on the side were just perfectly sauteed and not over cooked. Yummy garlic toast and a baked potato - just what I was after. The waitress Barbara took really good care of me - the bottomless coffee cup - with no rush to shoo me out. I enjoyed watching the local scene - older folks lingering over tea, coffee and ice cream, younger folks spilling out of one or the other back bars with the exuberance. Barbara and the cook took it all in stride. Beats the heck out of Denny's, I-hop, Sherry's and the other chains - this is 100% home town Grant's Pass - good comfort food and make you feel part of the family.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
