That is nearly some of the worst food I've had ... On par with airplane meals. Side salad $4.99 : small plate of pre-packaged salad mix. The highlight was ranch dressing. Blackberry cobbler. Again canned blackberry cobbler with some cheap puff pastry laid on top of it. Service was so so. What keeps this place going is location and decor. Definitely not going back - ever.

Very disappointing visit. We were on our way through town and my mom wanted to stop here as it's a chain she usually likes. The bathroom was disgusting, the server was more interested in complaining about how they needed more servers so she didn't have to work so much. Most of the food was bland and boring, the only good part was the soup. I'm not sure what else there is in Grants Pass but I would avoid the Black Bear Diner.

I came to have a good New York stk ! But it was horrible and over fat , my sup it was horrible to , everything it was bad ! The waitress it was the only good think , she is cordial .

When was the last time you wanted a yummy roasted turkey dinner... don't get it here because they grill the turkey until its dry. Please teach your cooks what roast turkey is!

Food was really good. We came on a Sunday morning so the place was packed. The service was a little slow but mostly because it was super busy. There were quite a bit of people working. Overall yes I would recommend

Today's experience was not great and it leaves me to avoid ever attending late lunch service. This is the first and hopefully last time I've ever had to experience some not so great service: I joined my partner for a late lunch, seated myself beside them and waited almost 10 minutes before I had to get up and approach the front to ask for service. The woman beside said desk helped, but I was displeased with the company behind me (screaming kid, throwing a fit, kicking the booth) I wasn't having it and so asked my partners original waitress if we could move forward to the next booth. After a long pause and looking at me like I was an idiot she said okay and we grabbed our things. I'm a paying customer, not someone for you to question. And that was basically all I saw of our waitress it was the woman behind the front desk greeting people that helped us. It truly had me irritated. And I love this place but this today is testing me. Food was fine.

Two stars today because of the time and day of the week and it took forever to get our meals. Not the fault of our waitress. Ordered country potatoes and forgot they are terrible at Black Bear. Should have ordered hash browns. Waitress was kind and professional. Out of all the Black Bears I've been to, this one rates as one of the lowest. GET WIFI FOR THE RESTAURANT.

I have had breakfast at Black Bear many times and it's always great. This was my first time having dinner here and it was less than great. They were out of soup, out of almost every dessert on the menu and I was given a fork with my ice cream because they were out of #@$&* spoons! Pot roast was more lumps of fat than meat and looked a lot like it was the leftover trimmings. Atmosphere is very Chuck E Cheese with unsupervised children running around everywhere and screaming. Black Bear will be a breakfast only spot for me from now on.

Nice place, nice people, treated us well and the food was great. I will make this a regular stop in my travels to Oregon. Good place to sit and relax.

So when in Grants Pass you have some pretty great options, like the Taprock and The Station. But we chose to skip those and hit the comfort food king, Black Bear. They decorations are eye catching.. How many things can be made in the likeness of a bear? And the chainsaw carvings are great fun to imagine how they were made, real works of art. I LOVE the open face turkey sandwich. The only problem is they give you so much turkey you have to take a nap afterwords. For a quick stop with super large portions this is the place! you can almost just do a meal and appetizer for two and have plenty.

We found ourselves in this part of town for breakfast and decided to go back to the Black Bear since we hadn't been in for a while. Sorry to say, it just wasn't a very good experience. Service problem right away. One way over stretched hostess/cashier/waitress/busser. So not a quick greet and once seated, it was a good 5 minutes before our hostess (again) took our drink order and another 5 minutes before our server (not the hostess) showed up. The attentive waitress at the table behind us chirped away happily with her customers and, when asked, did serve our table coffee so at least one of the waitstaff was on the ball. But the sparse attention from our server continued throughout to include the check. The potions are huge. Way more than a normal person could eat even with a hearty appetite. The biscuits and gravy featured four huge and doughy biscuits with an inconsequential portion of paste-like gravy that was under seasoned with almost no meat. The menu said 2 but it wasn't 2 split into 4 halves, it was 4 whole biscuits. Think about it. How much gravy do you need to serve to make four whole, oversized biscuits edible? A lot! Over easy eggs were fine and the ham steak was tasty and, like everything else, super sized. My spouses "bear claw" French toast was good but, again, filled up the large platter on which it was served. I guess if the service had been better, the food was probably 3 stars but I could only wish that they would put more resources into an adequate front of house staff and less into those huge portions.

I had the tasty, satisfying chocolate chip pancakes. (My sister had the just as great french toast.) I hear only the breakfast is good--if that's true, who cares. The breakfast is great. The staff was really patient, too--we brought kids. So glad I finally came here. I hear about it ALL the time.

First off, let me say I like Black Bear Diners. I ate at one last week. But recently I stopped In Grants pass while driving through. I was famished and happy to see the diner. I walked in and waited for the lady to finish taking care of a customers bill. They were in a conversation... That went on and on..... And on.... I waited. She looked at me a few times but never acknowledged my presence. The customer did too but pulled her further away and kept talking. I finally turned and left. Just thought the manager may want to know..... Unless she was the manager.

Wow!! The pancakes are huge and actually have great TASTE! The coffee is good, beautiful decor, spacious and they have great music playing too. Wish I could stay. I will have to come again. Delicious!

Horrible Manager. Our waitress was great, but the manager was not. There was a 4 to 5 inch long rope like stem in my potato salad and all the manager did is make sarcastic joking comments about it, didnt apologize, or give us free drinks let alone take the potato salad off our bill. We will never go back, it was quite gross and very off putting. The Medford one is waaaaay better. Grants pass needs a real manager that knows how to please customers and keep gross things out of the food. So much for quality control. Funny how all the bad reviews are Not on the recommend list.... customers beware

Today was our third bad experience with this particular branch and we won't be going back. The cooks called for our cooked food to be delivered four times before we could corner a server (not ours) and have it delivered. Everything sat so long that it was cold, soggy, and limp. We complained and our waiter was very nice, but he said that he didn't have a hostess that day. We could see that he was collecting money at the register, seating people, serving food, and then cleaning tables. He was overworked, and the other waitstaff wasn't assisting him at all. So we felt for him. BUT the cold food was just lousy. And after reading other comments, I see that the lack of staff, and staff in long conversations ignoring other customers is common here. It's a shame, because I usually like Black Bear.

While visiting my son in May he brought me here for Mothers Day Breakfast. The food was some of the best I've had. I ended up ordering the corned beef hash and fresh fruit. Was surprised by how large the servings were. Soooo good ended up eating all of it. Looking forward to my next trip yo visit this wonderful restaurant and try something else on the menu.

I've been to a lot of Black Bear's in my years. My Mom and Step-Dad get points on their credit card by coming here. So this is always there first choice up and down California and Oregon. This specific location is my favorite. It's pretty new, love the decor. The main reason it's my favorite is because it was a busy location and I saw not one but two managers walking around and helping out the waiters and waitresses. One manager in particular was super nice and chatted with everyone. I felt the customer service is top notch here. The food was yummy too!

Awful internet. It's continuously blocked by incorrect sonic wall settings. You can't use the web. Its been like this for years. They need to change their router settings. At least the have a GREAT EV charger. Tesla Super charger is only 100 ft away.

First it's very easy to get to off I5. If your lucky enough to drive a tesla then stop here and charge. There is four tesla superchargers in the back of the parking lot. The food here is hit or miss. Breakfast seems to always be good. Lunch and dinner differ. My last visit I had the chicken avocado club. The chicken was so over cooked it was like leather. Others with me had the tuna melt and bacon cheeseburger. Both were tasty and we all liked the option to substitute either a salad or fruit for French fries.
We had the taco salad, burger, and chocolate cream pie. Everything was in large portions. The server was super friendly (thanks Lisa!). We'll be back next time we come through town.

We love Black Bear Diner. If you are staying at the Shilo Inn next door, check in first and they have 10% off coupons. At this Black Bear, I had the open faced turkey sandwich. I thought it was good. My husband had the Rueben sandwich, which he said was made with quality corned beef. Wait staff was pleasant and our order came out in a timely manner. Will visit again.

We've seen this place a few times but this is the first time we decided to stop for breakfast. The food was delicious. My eggs (over medium) were perfectly cooked and the bacon was also perfect - thick juicy and fully cooked!! I am picky about my eggs and bacon! Portions were large and very satisfying! I can't wait to come here tomorrow again for breakfast.

This was my first visit to a Black Bear diner. The food was amazing, the staff was even better and even though they were crazy busy they moved quickly and our good didn't take forever. This location has set the bar and standard for the type of service and friendliness I'll hope for at other locations as well!

This place needs to realize that quantity does not reflect quality or make up for a poor experience. On this particular visit the thing that got to me was preferential treatment. They allowed one rude woman to walk up and cut in front of others because her family runs a local business by the name of Smokey Stoves I think. The manager came out and greeted them and their coffee was kept warm and full. The smug woman who cut in line continued to make sure they were taken care of. Don't think I was the only one who noticed and was making coments. Happy Father's Day.

First time at a black bear diner. Not my fav. but my husband loved it. It seemed like old fashioned farm food. He had the Bigfoot which was enormous! I had the eggs benedict. The chicken fried steak was good everything else was just mediocure. The restaurant was cute with black bears everywhere kids seemed to love that part. Service was really good, attentive, and timely. Over all good experience with a ton of mediocure food. Good for those big eaters aka my husband :-)

I should of ordered the "little less" one. Pot roast very good. But way too much food for a big guy like me. Salad came 2 minute before meal so I felt rushed. The baked potato was huge, Peyton Manning could of used it. Green beans like mom used to make with pieces of bacon were good. I could only take 3-5 bites of each item. I'm eating the roast and corn bread for breakfast now. Still good

I was passing through Grants Pass and I was hungry for a reasonably healthy dinner and the Turkey Plate fit the bill. Great real roasted turkey and enough for left overs to take home. The red skin mashed potatoes with gravy balanced went well with the turkey a side of coleslaw came with the meal and it was very fresh, like home made. Plenty of cranberry sauce was provided along with very good service. To Finnish it off I took a small banana cream pie home, nice it was.

Ugh. This place. I haven't been angry with almost every point of service in a restaurant in a long time. But this place!!! Our server: incompetent. She got our order wrong TWICE, never refilled our drinks at all in the hour we were there, and just was way too ridiculous to get it right even a little. Once everyone actually had their meals, 4 out of 5 of them were bad. Honestly bad. My daughter's tri-tip was nothing but fat. I tried cutting it off and was left with a sliver of actual meat. She was given that and a spoonful of mashed potatoes. That's it. They got kids' mac and cheese, potato salad, meat loaf, French dip sandwich, and eggs all wrong. All of it! How is that even possible? Either not seasoned or too seasoned or tasteless or gross. Ugh. It was also packed and busy and loud, which would be awesome if we were all getting great food and/or good service. But a simple look around showed me that most were just as unhappy as we were. Double ugh. I know this is a chain and maybe not to expect much, but come on. Really.

Don't go there! There were half of the tables empty but we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. And after we ordered our food, we waited for 40 minutes to get the meal. Food there is disgusting, my boyfriend asked for a medium rare steak, but there wasn't any pink in it. It was totally over cooked. Worst experience ever! If I could choose not to give stars to them at all, they'll get zero.

Food is good but service is the worst. We've been here a dozen times and at least 1/2 the time the service has been lacking. I've complained to several of their managers(seems like there is always a new manager), but no results. I ran into one of there better servers who quit because of all the complaints about service. She said it was the cooks and after watching them, I'd have to agree.

Mushy tomatoes, wilted lettuce, microwaved soup from a can and EXPENSIVE. You should serve cheap bad food or expensive good food. This place gets it wrong. On the plus side, the staff is terrific! They're friendly and welcoming. But that can't make up for lousy food.

I came here one night with my wife and infant child around 9PM thinking we still had time because it said that they are open until 10PM. They actually close at 9 and would not seat us because of that but offered to let us order to go. However as we were considering weather we wanted to go somewhere else or order to go the waitress comes and tells us we actually can't order to go. Now I understand that not everything on Google is accurate but it even says they are open until 10PM on here.

Who doesnt love a Black Bear Diner? They pretty much are all the same and all very consistent. Breakfast is my favorite, but just this last visit I went out on a limb and ordered the BBQ hamburger with a turkey burger substitute. SOOOOOO GOOD. Definitely would recommend. Service was just ok here.... but they were very busy for a Saturday afternoon.

Over all the breakfast isn't bad. The service and the server were great. The biggest biscuits in the world, wish I had just ordered a biscuit for breakfast. Glad we both had small breakfasts, just the right amount of food.

Okay, this wasn't exactly Medford, but we stopped here on our way. I wasn't super excited, cuz I'm not a chain girl. Black Bears are typically the same everywhere, but at least it wasn't Denny's. I had a patty melt. It was pretty greasy ( maybe it was juicy? not sure), but the rye bread and grilled onions were nice, and I liked my iced tea that came with it. I had ordered potato salad and it arrived with fries. The server brought me potato salad, too. I ate some of that, it had big black olives in it, not really delicious, and a couple fries, they were just fries, not especially good... stuck to patty melt, which was large and filling enough. It was quick stop. T, coworker and chauffeur to Medford, pined for their pies, but we skipped that and got back on the road. The pies did look good. Maybe next time I'd just get pie and skip the lunch part. Oh, their dessert menu has the calories on it. Did you know one of their Bear Claws ( which are enormous, BTW) has more than 2400 calories in it? I could have skipped knowing that.

Service was very slow and the server didn't acknowledge the delay. It seemed to be a domino effect of slowness. Food is average at best not worth the wait.

Heading South is a dicey gastronomical proposition for Oregon. Past Eugene there are few places to choose from, and McMenamins establishments start to look really awesome. Yet hope springs eternal, and of the open places in Grant's Pass, my wife picked the Black Bear diner. There was a wait, every table full. Coming in the plates looked huge. The menu is extensive american food including burgers, salads, steaks, a touch of seafood. Crayons and menus to draw on came for the kids, always a plus. As for the food, first off, the fries were bad, like the kids did not eat them bad. Cooked with the oil too low and came out not crisp enough. I had the fried shrimp because we were heading out to camp and I feared the burger would be a gut bomb I did not want to deal with. Was pleasantly surprised by the fried shrimp which was really good, just the right amount of crispy breading. The fried shrimp was the best thing I tasted there. My wife's salad was a bit scary looking, the mushrooms looked worse for the ware and the iceberg lettuce content was high. Salad gets a meh, average rating. Like I said, the kids didn't even finish their fries, but seemed content with the grilled cheese. The food was large portions of OK food. The place is clean though and the service was attentive and the highlight of the dining experience. Black Bear Diner is not outstanding, and is a bit expensive, however you can keep the price down with careful selection, and really, who needs a plate of food big enough for two adults? Not me. All in all, the food is decent, but not great and the value isn't all that great. One word of warning for those with young children, there are bear stuffed animals literally everywhere in the restaurant. If your kids are the stuffed animal loving types, you may be required to perform feats of parental redirection and classification to escape without overpriced bear stuffed animals being added to your bill. I was somehow able to placate the kids by allowing them to play with the stuffed animals before the food came out, then using parental slight of hand to get out of there without spending an extra $20 on stuffed bears. Next time I hope to try a different place in Grants Pass, if possible.

My friends and I have been to a LOT of Black Bear Diners on our rides and local. NEVER have we experienced such awful food. The salads were VERY unfresh and when one was taken from our table the excuse was that's the best they had and nothing given in return. Each and every persons meal was also lacking in freshness / flavor or cooked correctly ( over cooked ). Our table consisted of 12 people and the restaurant was NOT busy enough for a table of 12 to overtake the kitchen. I'd give "this" restaurant a thumbs down when traveling through this area - go to Denny's next door instead !!!!!

Horrible customer service. The food was ok. We had to wait. Long time and watched other parties being seated before us, even though they came in after us. Just horrible!! When the manager called me about my bad review, she was rude and felt that i was an inconvenience to call me. I will never go back.

We stopped by this diner on a whim because it was one of the few restaurants open on Labor Day. The bear theme is apparent everywhere. They have a few shelves at the entrance displaying stuffed bears, t-shirts, canned bear (the cute variety) and other black bear paraphernalia for sale. The dining room is large and the tables / utensils were clean. The service team is very sweet and will bend over backwards to help you out. Despite the fact that they got two of our three orders wrong (one the waitress apologized for and the other was the kitchen's mistake), they were very apologetic and were very quick at getting them corrected so they gain points rather than lose them for that. Serving portions are large! I had an egg white veggie scramble with dry toast / fruit and I didn't have room for anything other than the eggs. I'm still not sure about the zucchini and squash addition to it, but I still liked it. The other people in my party had the hot meatloaf sandwich which she enjoyed and turkey avocado sandwich that he thought was pretty good. Although there wasn't a whole lot about this place that made it stand out, the overall atmosphere is positive enough to overlook that. [As a side note, I had no idea this was a franchise chain. I only found out when I went to their web site to review their menu for prices.]

Yuck. My daughter ordered a chicken pot pie and found hair (more than one) cooked into the crust. Then my son had their bread pudding and there was a hair in that too. Management did remove the cost of the items but without any apologies. We have been going to this dinner regularly but never again. Poor food quality. Poor management. Servers are very kind though.

You're good for what you are Black Bear, a greasy spoon diner with American themed food and huge portions. What you lack in quality you more than make up for in quantity. I appreciate that you opened up a new spot in Grants Pass because to me you are like Starbucks, McDonalds and all those other franchises, sub par and convenient. I like that I can walk in and order what I want knowing it's going to be what it was when I had it in California, Washington, etc. The service was ok. Small town servers with small talk and even smaller attention span. The humor factor really upped this review a star (hence the 2 stars rather than 1), because two of the waitresses actually had beehives! I just couldn't stop the internal laughter. Can you imagine my mind going crazy with day dreams of bears coming to life out of the surrounding paintings, trying to attack the waitresses in order to get to the honey in their beehived hair? No? Well, then take a star away. Either way, it's a good stop for a cheap and okay-ish bfast.

My family and I were stopping by for dinner while we were on a road trip. We usually eat here where we live and It was about 7pm and it wasn't too busy. We were seated immediately which was nice. Our waiter brought our drinks quickly but when we were ready to order, she was no where to be found. Finally we spotted her chatting in the corner. We waited for another five or ten minutes and she finally came over to our table. She took our orders and we saw two other parties get seated. The other parties ordered and got their food before us...we were a little confused at that point. Ten minutes later our food arrives and we had ordered salads and a omelet. The salads were pretty terrible. It was a weird sour flavor and I felt like they just threw whatever in the salad. There were strawberries in there which didn't mix with the sour taste. The omelet was okay nothing too amazing. Our server would check on us but she looked very annoyed and would turn away as soon as we were about to say anything. Overall it was a pretty bad experience and I would never come back here again. The servers were all a bit rude and it seemed like they didn't know how to smile. The food made me lose my appetite. I wouldn't recommend going to this particular black bear diner.

Stopped here totally on a whim as we were passing through the area. It was lunchtime, and my family (three kids under 6) was hungry. Loved the vibe of the place from the minute we walked in. Decor was quirky but we liked the wood theme and all the black bears lounging about. We were seated at a large table with plenty of crayons and kids' menus for the littles to play with while we ordered. We had a variety of menu items from corned beef hash to a club sandwich to kids mac'n'cheese. The corned beef hash was the best I've ever had (real corned beef, not from a can). Service was pleasant, fast, and the price was affordable. I was stunned to find out that this was a chain! Never heard of Black Bear Diner before, but if I ever seen one again on the road, I'll certainly pull in for a meal!

I love this place! You can share breakfasts here because they give you more than enough food. I also think the service is fast and prompt. The California Omelete is our favorite because it comes with Avocado, we usually add ham since it doesn't come with any meat. Great breakfast spot.

I thought breakfast on a cold, rainy day would be lovely. My biggest downfall is that I can't make pancakes to save my life, so when I want them, I have to go to a restaurant....which is what led us to the Black Bear Diner today. We ordered to go, so we could take our dinner home and eat it in our jammies - it's breakfast, right? My first indicator of how the meal was going to go was when I placed the to-go order on the phone. The waitress kept telling me she couldn't hear me, and I could hear the staff laughing and joking in the background. When we arrived, there were very few cars in the parking lot - not a good sign on a Saturday evening. I had sent my teenage daughter in to pick up the food, so I had no idea the total was $31 for two breakfasts! When we got home, we realized why - they had doubled my daughter's order, and charged us for a full stack of pancakes instead of a short stack. I had 2 eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns, she had sausage, eggs, and pancakes. They forgot to include my toast, so I split my daughter's pancakes with her. The sausages were undercooked on the inside, and blackened on the outside. We had to microwave them to be sure she didn't get sick. My bacon was burned to a crisp in most places. Her eggs were scrambled, that's pretty hard to mess up - but the over-medium eggs I ordered were cooked over-hard. The hashbrowns were burned, crunchy to the point of being inedible, and tasted of a dirty grill - gross. I didn't even attempt eating them after the first bite. The eggs also had the dirty grill flavor. The only decent food were the pancakes, and thankfully the gave us 6 huge ones. Since they charged us for a full stack instead of the short stack I ordered, I guess it's good that they actually gave them to us (unlike my toast). I will NEVER be back. I usually give restaurants a second chance when I have a bad meal, but with so many things wrong, there's no way I would even bother. Keep your money local and dine at one of the small cafes - this chain restaurant isn't worth the money.

The only reason we go is because my teenage son likes it a lot...which is inexplicable. Tasteless and uneventful food, but lots of it and if breakfast food is your thing, this is probably a good enough place.

On my way to Portland I stopped by here and I always thought of Black Bear as a place with good food and good service. Well this one seems to be an exception... Took them awhile to seat me while there were clearly seats available everywhere. Took my drink order fast but when I was ready to order food, they took their time chatting and passing by every single table before coming to me. I ordered a Salad and some fries. The food took about 30 minutes to get there.... it wasn't even busy! I was getting kind of irritated by then. The food tasted odd and the atmosphere of the place was not friendly at all. I paid and left as fast as I could. I came down with a stomach ache later that night. Will never stop by here again. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

We ordered these items, liked most of the items: Spicy Cabo Fish tacos: Awesome, best item of everything we ordered. Chicken Fajita Omlette: Decent. (had the eggs substituted with egg beaters and they did it with no fuss and no charge). The chicken ingredient in it did not go with the rest of it. Once I added salt & pepper, it tasted good. Went with the toast (sour dough) - sucked, should have gone with the biscuit. Turger Burger: pretty good. Their sides: hash browns (most preferred), cole slaw and fries were pretty good. Chicken tenders (from kids menu): Darn good. This is a diner, so a little bit of greasiness and oil was expected. Service was pretty good.

A safe bet for traditional American food. I would stick to breakfast and other simple stuff, like burgers and sandwiches. It's best to expect grease and comfort. I had the sourdough cheeseburger and my friend had the "Big Bear" burger. Both were really good, but the salad that accompanied my meal should have been tossed that morning. The lettuce was just hanging in there between edible and slimly. Gross! Service was mediocre. Our waitress seemed really eager to get rid of us.

Having our first visit at the Black Bear Diner, my wife and I really loved the way it looked and the food was good also. Once we were seated however' we had to wait quite sometime getting a meal ordered. When we finished our meal and got the reciept, we noticed we had to get in line, behind a long line of other couples already waiting to pay? I'm sure you know this area can also be improved.

When Black Bear first opened, they had good food and great staff. I don't know what has happened since then, but they have gone WAY down hill. My family and I ate at Black Bear tonight for the first time in over a year. The last time we went, the manager told us we would have to hold our baby on our laps because the high chair was blocking the fire escape route. She didn't offer to re-seat us elsewhere; just took our high chair and told us to hold our baby. This time we asked to be seated in a booth and were told by the snotty hostess that high chairs weren't allowed at booths. What?! I was ready to leave right then, but my wife convinced me to stay. Big mistake! We ordered our food and after nearly half an hour (they weren't busy) it finally came. My burger was OK at best and came with cold soggy fries. My wife ordered raviolis. Apparently the cook hadn't read the back of the frozen ravioli bag, because he didn't seem to know to drain them. They came submerged in a shallow bowl of water with what appeared to be tomato sauce poured over them. YUM! We sent them back and my wife opted for a salad from Dairy Queen on the way home.

The food is good, comparable to the powder horn cafe, but twice as expensive because of the bear gimmick.

Wait staff were inattentive, had the special bay shrimp salad for dinner. About 10 deep fried breaded shrimp on loads of lettuce. Beer selection was OK, not great, just OK. Clean, cutesie surroundings, we came in at 9 pm from a long day and needed food "right now" so this worked. No other reason to go here as it's forgettable.

I'm a fan of Black Bear Diner. With two teens and two adults on a recent road trip we needed breakfast that wouldn't break our budget. Black Bear totally delivered with $6.99 steak and eggs specials, HUGE delicious fresh baked biscuits, crispy hash browns, and cheerful, fast service. The food was really good quality diner food. Can't speak for their lunch or dinner offerings, but I really liked the breakfast menu. It's got a totally kitschy Yosemite/faux rustic/bears theme, but that's kind of fun.

Had a quick breakfast with my little girl today. They may have had some "new restaurant" issues in the past, but all seems well now. Nice friendly greeting coming in. Server was pleasant and efficient. Food fresh and delicious. I also appreciate seeing a manager out in the dinning room assisting staff as necessary. Oh, and the kids get a free balloon to boot! :)

Went for breakfast. Servings were huge. Prices were a little spendy. 5 freaking dollars for orange juice. Service was average.

Ugh. This place. I haven't been angry with almost every point of service in a restaurant in a long time. But this place!!! Our server: incompetent.

Not sure why people are down on this place. Driving thru and had a great a.m. meal with good service. Not the best but big portions, good selection, and all was well.

Food was good and hot. Dinner salad was fresh and cold like i like it. Service was good and friendly. Not overly busy. We would go back.

(2)Polo B.

(2)Roger W.
(2)Bill B.
(2)Jim D.

(2)Katherine H.

(1)Adelita A.
Wow!! The pancakes are huge and actually have great TASTE! The coffee is good, beautiful decor, spacious and they have great music playing too. Wish I could stay. I will have to come again. Delicious!
(5)Jean M.
(3)Stan E.
(2)Karla T.
(5)Tom S.
The food was good, regular home cooking. But don't try to get much done on their wifi... It seemed that every other website I tried to access was blocked. Even search engines.

(5)Peter H.
Awful internet. It's continuously blocked by incorrect sonic wall settings. You can't use the web. Its been like this for years. They need to change their router settings. At least the have a GREAT EV charger. Tesla Super charger is only 100 ft away.
(1)Mike S.
Great home comfort meals. Have to stop in on the way up and/or down from trips. Love their breakfasts
(5)Nelson S.
(3)Sally L.
Well...the décor is fun. The wait staff is nice, but it took a long time for dinner to arrive and it wasn't actually worth the wait. I had the tri-tip dip (French dip sandwich) and the meat was gritty. Too scary to think about. The waitress did note my food allergies. Poor British hubby had the fish & chips, requesting no salt on the fries which was ignored or maybe the fries are pre-seasoned. The codfish appeared to be that pre-breaded stuff from the freezer, and the fries are also the frozen kind. Hubby is not a happy camper. No beer on tap, only bottled. This place isn't for people who expect a nice meal; more for travelers and families. In addition to just the one star, I give this restaurant three unhappy faces while my stomach is deciding whether dinner is going to stay down or not. :-( :-( :-(
(1)Patty L.
We had the taco salad, burger, and chocolate cream pie. Everything was in large portions. The server was super friendly (thanks Lisa!). We'll be back next time we come through town.

Great Chicken Fried Steak Dinner! Very busy place but the food & service is always great!
(4)Deb L.
Friendly locals ready to help you enjoy your dining experience. Close to the freeway more than the average chain. Give it a try!

(4)Janet H.
(5)Cara A.
This was my first visit to a Black Bear diner. The food was amazing, the staff was even better and even though they were crazy busy they moved quickly and our good didn't take forever. This location has set the bar and standard for the type of service and friendliness I'll hope for at other locations as well!
(5)joe h.
I've been though GP on many occasions and overall, even though it's not the healthiest choice but the portions are big, served hot and a nice staff.Definitely good on the road.
(4)Shane O.

Ugh. Really.
(1)Sixue W.
(1)Meir B.
(1)Michael W.
(2)Ricardo R.

(3)Tim M.
If your looking for uneatable food this is the place, dry chicken, flavorless steaks and watery mash potatoes. Come on in they have a seat, just for you.
(1)Nicky R.
(1)Monique T.
Horrible customer service. The food was ok. We had to wait. Long time and watched other parties being seated before us, even though they came in after us. Just horrible!! When the manager called me about my bad review, she was rude and felt that i was an inconvenience to call me. I will never go back.
(1)Aimee K.

Stayed at hotel next door and walked to breakfast. Greeted by very friendly staff. Many breakfast items for adults and kids (served all day). They also have lunch and dinner menu. Very large portions!

Service is always great! Breakfast is my favorite there but their food overall is good.

Went for breakfast. Servings were huge. Prices were a little spendy. 5 freaking dollars for orange juice. Service was average.

(4)Briana S.
I love this place! You can share breakfasts here because they give you more than enough food. I also think the service is fast and prompt. The California Omelete is our favorite because it comes with Avocado, we usually add ham since it doesn't come with any meat. Great breakfast spot.

Call your order in before you arrive, service is a little slow. But had a wonderful steak salad for dinner. I'll be back!

(1)Shawn C.

Not sure why people are down on this place. Driving thru and had a great a.m. meal with good service. Not the best but big portions, good selection, and all was well.
(4)Raja S.
(4)Erin H.
(3)Jim B.
(3)Bobby V.
They have the biggest biscuits ive ever seen!!

(1)Lorissa J.
The food is good, comparable to the powder horn cafe, but twice as expensive because of the bear gimmick.
(3)Myrl F.

(4)Geoff G.
Food was good and hot. Dinner salad was fresh and cold like i like it. Service was good and friendly. Not overly busy. We would go back.

Nice place, nice people, treated us well and the food was great. I will make this a regular stop in my travels to Oregon. Good place to sit and relax.

I came to have a good New York stk ! But it was horrible and over fat , my sup it was horrible to , everything it was bad ! The waitress it was the only good think , she is cordial .

(2)Katherine H.

Delicious!

(5)Peter H.
Awful internet. It's continuously blocked by incorrect sonic wall settings. You can't use the web. Its been like this for years. They need to change their router settings. At least the have a GREAT EV charger. Tesla Super charger is only 100 ft away.

Great home comfort meals. Have to stop in on the way up and/or down from trips. Love their breakfasts

If your looking for uneatable food this is the place, dry chicken, flavorless steaks and watery mash potatoes. Come on in they have a seat, just for you.

We had the taco salad, burger, and chocolate cream pie. Everything was in large portions. The server was super friendly (thanks Lisa!). We'll be back next time we come through town.

(2)Roger W.

(2)Karla T.
(5)Tom S.
The food was good, regular home cooking. But don't try to get much done on their wifi... It seemed that every other website I tried to access was blocked. Even search engines.
(3)Deb L.
Friendly locals ready to help you enjoy your dining experience. Close to the freeway more than the average chain. Give it a try!
(4)Koolaid H.
The food is great and comes in large portions. Service is always great.
(4)Lesley G.

(3)Shane O.
(1)Sterling P.
Over all the breakfast isn't bad. The service and the server were great. The biggest biscuits in the world, wish I had just ordered a biscuit for breakfast. Glad we both had small breakfasts, just the right amount of food.
(4)Jim B.
(3)Bobby V.
They have the biggest biscuits ive ever seen!!
(4)Janet H.
(4)Megan M.
(2)Janet M.
(3)Nicci P.
Service was very slow and the server didn't acknowledge the delay. It seemed to be a domino effect of slowness. Food is average at best not worth the wait.
(2)Raja S.
(4)Erin H.
(3)Amber W.
(3)ken w.
Still good
(4)CR C.

Really.
(1)Sixue W.
(1)Meir B.
(1)Michael W.
(2)Ricardo R.
(1)Julia J.
(4)Nicky R.
(1)Monique T.
Horrible customer service. The food was ok. We had to wait. Long time and watched other parties being seated before us, even though they came in after us. Just horrible!! When the manager called me about my bad review, she was rude and felt that i was an inconvenience to call me. I will never go back.
(1)Aimee K.
(3)Gerald H.
(1)Robyn F.
Stayed at hotel next door and walked to breakfast. Greeted by very friendly staff. Many breakfast items for adults and kids (served all day). They also have lunch and dinner menu. Very large portions!
(4)Pam D.
Service is always great! Breakfast is my favorite there but their food overall is good.
(4)Mike S.
Great home comfort meals. Have to stop in on the way up and/or down from trips. Love their breakfasts
(5)Nelson S.
(3)Roger W.

(4)Jim D.
Nice place, nice people, treated us well and the food was great. I will make this a regular stop in my travels to Oregon. Good place to sit and relax.
(4)Nick D.
(2)Bill B.
(2)Polo B.
I came to have a good New York stk ! But it was horrible and over fat , my sup it was horrible to , everything it was bad ! The waitress it was the only good think , she is cordial .

(2)Katherine H.

(1)Adelita A.
Wow!! The pancakes are huge and actually have great TASTE! The coffee is good, beautiful decor, spacious and they have great music playing too. Wish I could stay. I will have to come again. Delicious!
(5)Laz D.
When was the last time you wanted a yummy roasted turkey dinner... don't get it here because they grill the turkey until its dry. Please teach your cooks what roast turkey is!
(1)Gina K.
Food was really good. We came on a Sunday morning so the place was packed. The service was a little slow but mostly because it was super busy. There were quite a bit of people working. Overall yes I would recommend
(4)Jason T.

(5)Peter H.
Awful internet. It's continuously blocked by incorrect sonic wall settings. You can't use the web. Its been like this for years. They need to change their router settings. At least the have a GREAT EV charger. Tesla Super charger is only 100 ft away.
(1)Sally L.

If your looking for uneatable food this is the place, dry chicken, flavorless steaks and watery mash potatoes. Come on in they have a seat, just for you.

Stayed at hotel next door and walked to breakfast. Greeted by very friendly staff. Many breakfast items for adults and kids (served all day). They also have lunch and dinner menu. Very large portions!

Service is always great! Breakfast is my favorite there but their food overall is good.

Went for breakfast. Servings were huge. Prices were a little spendy. 5 freaking dollars for orange juice. Service was average.

Call your order in before you arrive, service is a little slow. But had a wonderful steak salad for dinner. I'll be back!

Not sure why people are down on this place. Driving thru and had a great a.m. meal with good service. Not the best but big portions, good selection, and all was well.

Food was good and hot. Dinner salad was fresh and cold like i like it. Service was good and friendly. Not overly busy. We would go back.
