I have eaten Chinese food all over the US, Canada and China. After having read the reviews on Yelp, I will have to say that I was disappointed with Chen's. But first the pluses - it was the cleanest Chinese restaurant I have ever seen. The service was wonderful. But, the food is what you go for and some of it was disappointing. You are greeted with complimentary hot tea along with your water. I hate to complain about something free, but it was only luke warm and it didn't taste like any Chinese/Oriental tea I have ever tasted. The pork fried rice almost tasted rancid. I cannot say anything good about it except that there was enough for at least four big eaters. The shrimp/cream cheese wontons wrappers were more like puff pastry and rather tasteless. The egg rolls were beautiful to look at, but contained mostly cabbage. The General Tso Chicken was very, very good - just enough heat and not swimming in sauce. It gets a thumbs up. The Szechuan Beef was good as was the Kung Pow Beef. The portions were huge. We ordered the Mandarin dinner which cost less than $11 per person had enough food for four hungry people. If I lived here, I would go back, but not often.

As coastal Asian restaurants go, this one is definitely a cut above the rest. Clean, attractive surroundings, extensive menu of typical Cantonese style dishes, along with some curry, and spicier offerings. Potsticker appetizer comes with 8 potstickers that were tasty, and a good citrusy soy was accompanied to it. We tried several dishes, and all were tasty, well seasoned, and unlike some places, did not all taste the same. House wine is $3.50 a glass.......not bad for a decent "box" cabernet. Fairly priced entrees, good portions, and friendly staff, make this one a winner on the Coast.

Chen's is seriously one of the best restaurants in Florence. Their food is all fresh, hot, and inexpensive. General Tso's chicken is delicious!! The wait staff is always friendly, and it's a great value for your money. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Asian cuisine.

Mom, Step-Dad, and I headed to Chen's tonight because we had had turkey the past two days, time for some Chinese. We had some sweet and sour soup and it had the hotness to it but not so much sweet. Had some yummy shrimp fried rice, real good cream cheese won tons, veggie won tons, and lemon chicken. Everything was fresh! Lots of people were there so must be a fav. of the town. Very good value for 3 entrees, soup and appetizers. 2 of the 3 dishes included shrimp.

It has okay food, but i'd say it's over priced a bit. Most of their food is ok, although fried. I would suggest eating somewhere else where you'd get better food for the price.

We give Chen's Family Dish a two thumbs up. Nice atmosphere, very friendly and efficient staff and delicious food. General Tso's chicken was the best we've ever eaten. All the vegetables were fresh and cooked just right and our waitress told us that all the sauces are homemade. The quality was obvious. We look forward to coming again!

The food at Chens is very good! But more then that the service is great. Our waitress is always very accommodating of my wheat allergy and will completely rearrange a dinner plate too make sure it has what I can have and would like to have! I get the orange chicken stir fry and rice and my husband loved his moo shu pork. Their Thai iced tea is also delicious! Bus boy is always on top of refills, you won't have to ask! Very clean, and friendly. Stella place all around.

Husband checked out the reviews so we went to get some food to take home. He mentioned that multiple people had commented on their fried rice, saying that it was very good. We ordered chow mein with crispy noodles, BBQ pork lo mein and the pork fried rice. (The menu states that the pork fried rice has no peas and carrots, kind of weird). Huge portions, should be, it's not the cheapest chinese food. The chow mein had good flavor and was packed with a variety of vegetables, all cooked well, and a decent amount of pork in a flavorful sauce. The lo mein, was okay, I've had better. Seemed a little bland to me. The fried rice was really bland, nothing special. We ended up with enough leftovers for another meal. I will say that I ended up winning some money in their little slot room area while we were waiting for our food. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Everytime a waiter walked by they would asked if we had been helped. Restaurant looked pretty new, very clean, as was the restroom.

This restaurant serves American style Chinese food at its' most mediocre. The food is bland , the vegetables are over-cooked and mushy, and it is over-priced for the quality you are getting. My potstickers were flabby, barely warm and in my opinion were actually cooked either much earlier in the day or days ago and just barely warmed up for my takeout order. Buyer Beware!

So I had high hopes for the only decently reviewed Chinese food place in town. Those hopes where quickly cut down to size on this trip for take out. I had a specific request that no broccoli be included because a member of our family is very allergic. I was assured over the phone no broccoli was in the three dishes I ordered. Orange chicken, Pork chow mien, and vegetable mooshoo. Get home open food, to find broccoli all up and in the pork chow mein. So much broccoli. Find almost no pork, the pork that is their is tiny strips that have no uniformity, like the left overs off some ones dish. Open orange chicken, find very soggy, made us all feel heavy and bloated, so not sure if it ever was crispy... rather disgusted after eating a few bites. Taste vegi mooshoo... family liked it, personally I thought it tasted like the smell of china towns gutters. Called about the broccoli... told they do not put broccoli in pork chow mien... had to start questioning if they even gave the right item. In any measure we will not be returning.

The food here is just incredible. I usually go with the house special which is a combination of chinese entrees. Today I tried the iced thai tea and found it better than coke. It is a bit on the sweet side but very good.

I love this place. I moved from washington d.c. a little less than a year ago and i have to admit i was a little depressed about my eating options in a town of about 8000. Fortunately the quality of food is very good and chens is one of my favorite spots. Lots of choices, giant portions, and a friendly and quick waitstaff. Everything ive had here has been excellent. Best general tsos chicken i have ever had. Lots of excellent choices though so dont be afraid to try something different.

Coming from an area with great food it's hard to give a rating. The food was defiantly prepared good and portions good sized. Service was wonderful fried my staff and accommodating. For where you are 5 stars, is it the best ever? Prob not. But better than most. I give them credit. Try it enjoy and no worries very clean and safe :)

Delicious old-standard style Chinese food in spotlessly clean surroundings. Great service, enormous portions. Got the lowest cost family style dinner for 3 and we brought back half or more home. Everything is fresh food - no frozen spring rolls !

I make it a point to eat at Chens when I'm in Florence. Best tempura. Every meal I've had there has been delicious , very good staff also. Prices are very reasonable.

Second time I've eaten here and both were delicious. More food than one person should eat. And the price is very reasonable.

Yum! I had thai iced tea, and a combo dinner. Kung pow chicken, pork fried rice, sweet n sour pork. Everything tasted fresh, not stale like it was made 3 days ago. Plus it comes with tea and soup.

The place is clean, large lunch special for $7.50.Food was fresh, and tasted like it was just cooked, not like a buffet.

The food here is very good a long with the prices and portions. The hot and sour soup is really good. If your looking for good Chinese food look no further.

Always superior service and consistently fresh, delicious food. There's is always enough food left for lunch the next day. It's a bang for your buck.

Stars for cleanliness and smooth service. But I can't give stars for lackluster dishes with very little flavor. The Almond Chicken was tasteless. Mandarin Beef was so chewy my husband couldn't finish it.

Pork fried rice was acceptable but had very little pork. Waiters and waitresses were very friendly and unobtrusive.

This is a very good solid choice for Chinese food in Florence. Lunch specials for $7.00 are extraordinarily great values. Huge amounts of excellent tasting food, with complimentary soup and hot tea. General Tso's chicken had just the right amount of spice, and the Mongolian beef had a lot of great tasting beef, and onions. The map placed it on HiWay 126, but it is in town, on the East side of 101 around 36th street. Oversize vehicle parking in the rear.

I was surprised by the quality of the two dishes that I ordered. The first dish was a seafood bowl which includes mussels, shrimp, clams, fish, scallops, and a variety of vegetables. I recommend this dish as all the ingredients used are fresh, high quality, and the portions are very good. I had broccoli and beef stir fry which was very good too as the flavours were just perfect with a bowl of rice. Staff at this restaurant are friendly and helpful and the interior is very nice, relaxed, yet classy. You can choose regular table seating or diner table type of seating. I really like this restaurant and the food quality at this place rivals some of the better restaurants in Vancouver, B.C. You see, Vancouver, B.C. has a lot of good Chinese restaurants so when I consider Chen's Family Dish is a good solid restaurant, the people who run this restaurant should be proud.

If you've read any of my other reviews, you know that we travel all over the country, and that I LOVE Chinese restaurants. On the advice of a friend, we tried Chen's tonight, and I can say without a doubt that it was absolutely THE BEST we have ever had anywhere! I had the crab fried rice, and it was light and delicious. The serving was huge, with big chunks of crab meat. I wasn't sure I could finish all of it, but it was way too good to leave any on the plate! My wife had a seafood stir fry that included fish, crab, clams, oysters, mussels, and lots of veggies. Again, a huge serving, and she said it was beyond delicious. The servers were very friendly, the restaurant is very clean and new looking, and the prices are reasonable. We'll only be in Florence one more night, but you can guess where we'll be going back for dinner! Do yourself a favor and check out Chen's. You won't be disappointed.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
