Visited June 2014 We were in town for 3 days and went to BJ's every day! Great ice cream and floats. If your lucky you'll visit when they are making the waffle cones. The smell is amazing!

Yummy ice cream with a huge selection of salt water taffy. Other deserts too. Friendly and helpful staff.

Love the ice cream. My favorite is the salted caramel. Always look forward to it when visiting Florence.

Holy Cannoli! Something was wrong when I went.... It was the first day of spring break so that may be why and ill re-review when I come back accordingly. The line was seriously out the door. Not sure if it was because of good ice cream or there was only 1 person working and she happened to work like a snail. The ice cream though is good, they have so many different flavors and a ton of salt water taffy to pick from. They even have a cooler with cannoli's napoleons and such. The Cannoli was nothing special though, it tasted a little old. But lets get this straight, its definetly a ice cream and taffy shop.

Oregon Trail ....Chocolate, Hazelnut, and Marionberry

Oregon trail is the bomb! A must-have when visiting Florence . Two locations to get your fix!

We had ice cream, shakes and bought Taffy here. The ice cream was good, the Peanutbutter Cup shake was the best my brother ever had. The service was excellent and after traveling the entire West and East Coast, BJ's Taffy was the best I've ever purchased in a coastal store.

I had the salted Carmel I love the ice cream! The guy working the counter though wasn't so friendly! He just needed to smile :)

Delicious ice cream, made right there at the creamery. Good selection of flavors. The coffee flavors taste like real coffee. The Oregon Trail flavor (chocolate, marion berry swirl, hazelnut) is dynamite. I always stop here when I'm in town.

3/1/15 4:00 pm. Don't go here if you would like to have three flavors of ice cream. It is not allowed. Not only that, but the girl scooping the ice cream was very rude. She gave us our 5 and a half scoops in a junior cup!!! Won't go here again!

We were at the most amazing time to be at the coast.. The seagulls sounded like angels.. the sunlight looked like something you would find in heaven.. the heat of the day like.. well you get what I'm saying. It was nostalgic.. but, but, I will never forget the ice cream choice I made.. coconut.. incredible, indelible, creamy, rich, full of sin? coconut ice cream.. It also had chunks of coconut through and through. Seriously, I had nothing like it before... I walked with it alone across the street to watch the boats in the water and to visit the Saturday market on this fine day.. just me and my ice cream cone.. you can't get much better.

Overpriced and the ice cream was very soft. Almost melted...

Always a favorite! I've been here several times. Fast, friendly staff! Lots of choices. Perfect stop for a snack. The mint chip is divine!!!!

My hot fudge Sunday was topped with some kind of substance that turned into a sticky, semi hard ball of goop that had no chocolate flavor to it. I couldn't eat it.

Stopped by the place on our way from Florence to Cape Perpetua; actually took a u-turn to try it out. We really regretted it and it has inaugurated the new road rule that you don't turn around. It was later in the afternoon and we needed a little pick-me-up so when I saw this place, I thought 'why not'? And the answer is: 'because bad ice cream is not worth the calories.' M. had the lemon chiffon which sounded intriguing, was not very tasty; highly mediocre ice cream. I ordered the strawberry cheescake which was a huge mistake. I should have known after tasting M.'s lemon chiffon it would miss my strawberry expectations. It seemed to be made from frozen strawberries, gooey and overly red syrupy. The texture and overall quality of the ice cream was not good. It did not taste fresh or homemade. I am not extremely picky when it comes to sweets, but this was bad enough to write home about. Do yourself a favor, hit up one of the several DQ's in the area.

BJ's has a small shop in Waldport. Look for the pink building on the edge of town...literally the last building when heading south. The owner is beyond friendly, and, well, BJ's ice cream just can't be beat. We stop here every time we're on the coast.

Best ice cream I've had and wish it were closer or they had a parlor in Cali! There is another ice cream shop in Waldport OR, so if you're in that area, it's at the end of town by the Mexican Restaurant.

Yum yum yum. good stuff. can be slow, as they get a little busy at times. portions are huge. my kids look forward to this place every time we're in town.

Absolutely a treat this past weekend and despite the Summer crowds, BJ's was a good choice. As spoiled rotten Foodies, we give straightforward honest reviews because we don't want to mislead anyone! ~ The hard pack ice cream was quality! I was delighted with my classic Hot Fudge Sundae! They were generous with the hot fudge and I didn't run out as with other places. It also had REAL whip cream on it. Little Miss Picky and Mr. Picky both choose classic chocolate malts. Nice and thick, thet way they love their malts. BJ's is also a one stop sweet shop; they even have Cannoli's!

Super tasty ice cream. Great stop on the 101. Kid in there knew his stuff, could handle a busy streak and counted my change back , loved that. Mad props!
(5)Chris B.
Great ice cream lots of original flavors. Would recommend to anyone traveling through. Two locations so you pick.
(5)Ling H.
Yum! Thanks bf for taking me here after lunch. We got their hot fudge sundae with two scoops of ice cream, cappucino and toasted almond, with whipped cream and a cherry on top! But NO nuts! *sad face* The girl serving us that day was super nice and sweet, but I felt bad for her as she seemed to be the only person working that day. Apparently there's 2 shops, but this is the original and the other one located in Old Town. I don't know if that one sells baked goods and salt water taffy, but impressive how they make their own ice cream AND baked goods. Yummo!

3/4/14 UPDATE: They now have a shop open in Winchester Bay and are opening one in Reedsport....I'm going to have to move! They are too good to be that close to us at least in Florence we had to drive a while to get there.... This place has been here for as long as I can remember and now I know why. They make their own ice cream oh yeah you read that right THEY MAKE THEIR ICE CREAM!!! You can tell it is awesome. Try the Oregon Trail that's a rich chocolate ice cream with a thick ribbon of Marion Berry jam and hazelnuts through out. Worth a stop!
(5)Jen S.
So very good....all made locally, tons of flavors. Service was great and tstaff was super patient with kids who had to think and think about what they wanted, giving them little tastes and recommendations.
(4)Kelly M.
The toasted coconut was really good and a single scoop proved to be a solid 4 - 6 ounces of ice cream. A bargain.

I have seen this place a million times when I traveled through Florence. I am usually too full after stuffing myself at Rosa's to further indulge on ice cream but last week I said F*$K it, I am giving the place a try. The smell inside was sort of strange. A weird mix of Lysol and waffle cone. The decor is dated and odd, but I was happy to see that the ice cream is all made local on site. And what a variety of flavors. My three year old got the strawberry "pink" ice cream and honestly, it was one of the better strawberry ice creams I have had. I can say first hand that the bittersweet nugget pretty much is a delicious chocolate lovers dream. My husband got the salted caramel, which was super yummy...BUT when he found a mysterious hair in the ice cream as he neared the bottom of the cone our experience at BJ quickly fell from a 4 star experience to a 2 star experience. Yuck. We quietly tossed the rest of the cone and slipped out the door. Not sure if we will return.

outstanding ice cream and fudge ya'll. loved trying the goods, yummyyyy

This is one of the stops that is a "must do" when ever we head to the coast. It's nice to have the verity of flavors. One of the best is the Oregon Trail, chocolate ice cream with blackberry's and filberts. Very good! It's my wife's favorite. Mine must be the bittersweet nugget, since that's what I have 75% of the time...My kids usually do the strawberry, or vanilla, one had the Kahlua fudge and another had the Kahlua fudge. Great place and also have saltwater taffy if that's what you crave. We enjoy this location better then the one in old town, they have a larger selection.
