I'm not a huge cupcake person, I'm more of a layer cake person. I suppose it has something to do with frosting/filling to cake ratio. That being said, I freakin' love Larry's. Quite a few of the cupcakes are filled with a -not too sweet- custard type filling that corresponds with the cupcake flavor. I really like the ganache frosting, again, it's not so cloyingly sweet and it's smooth not grainy like a lot of frosting can be. I feel like a little kid when I'm here: "I can have ANY one I want?" The tiny cream puffs are blissful and I don't even really like cream puffs. I only docked a star because they are a bit spendy. Which is probably a good thing for my waistline. I'd love it if they were open a bit later, I think they would be fantastic after dinner at Belly, which is right across the street.

Holy smokes. I will say that again, Holy smokes. Excellent cupcakes! They can be super sweet, but they have ones that aren't. They are delicious enough to make me want one writing this review. They also have good creme puffs (especially the mocha ones!) One draw back is that they are SUPER pricey and I still do a back and forth dance between buying one and saving the 3.25 for something else.

I am a huge fan of cupcakes so I was super excited to discover this cool shop. Have tried several different flavors and have yet to find one that doesn't make me smile from ear to ear. Well worth the price and please add them to your day! You will not be disappointed!

Lusciously lovely little cupcake confections. I feel sorry for people who have no chance of trying one or more of these amazing creations. Seriously! I had the Honey Lavender and it was delicate and tasty as the name implies. If you are in Eugene hit one of the two Toadstool Cupcakes shops for a delectable treat.

Good grief, these are really yummy and unique cupcakes! I tried the pumpkin pie cupcake and I also sampled a nibble of my guy's caramel cream. Both tasted decadent and delicious, the ganache is perfectly firm, the truffle creamy and smooth and the cake was moist and so so good. In addition to their tastiness they also get props for inventiveness and cute design - I will definitely be back to try as many flavors as I can stuff in my face on some cheat day when all health bets are off.

Little cakes of joy! Just went in today and got Boston Cream and WC Rasberry, fantastic! Their cake recipe is perfect moistness and texture. You Must Go Here! You MUST TRY THESE!

I'm going to be super girly for a moment and say... Larry's Cupcake Cafe is seriously super duper cute with cupcakes to die for! I wouldn't even consider myself a dessert fanatic but Larry's brings a rad variety of adorably crafted cupcakes that could potentially lead to an addiction. You have been warned! I was introduced to Larry's Cupcake Cafe after they were featured at a work event. I was lucky enough to snag a couple because they were definitely the hit of the night, not a single one was left. Conveniently located in Eugene's downtown financial district on Park Street (Eeeek! So close to my work!) Larry's opened it's doors not too long ago to grace the public with their delightful assortment of cupcakes. The flavors are extensive and somewhat overwhelming, in the best way possible of course. The minute you walk through the doors a long glass case neatly filled with colorful and perfectly decorated cupcakes greet you. It's worth it just to go inside and take a look, I promise you'll be in awe. Larry's offers everything from... - Surprise Cupcakes (their signature cream-filled cupcakes that come in 36 flavors) - Novelty Cupcakes (traditional unfilled buttercream cupcakes with sprinkles. You can also request personal decorations) - Cupcake Cakes (cupcakes that are magically turned into birthday cakes) - Quack Attack Cupcakes (cupcakes designed specifically to show some UO Ducks pride) - Gluten/Vegan Cupcakes - Mini Cupcakes (filled and unfilled) The event I attended featured Larry's mini cupcakes. The flavors being Chocolate, Red Velvet, Carrot, and Mocha. They were by far not only the best cupcakes I've had but also the prettiest. The pastry chefs are absolute cupcake masters. I loved every flavor but if I had to choose one, I would go with the mocha, being a coffee addict and all. Keep your eyes peeled for Larry's Cupcake Cafe opening their second location right by UO's campus on East 13th Street between Patterson and Hilyard Street. A serious dream come true for us college students! See you there!

I am a huge chocolate chili fan. I love the combination of spice and sweet. When I found out these guys had a chocolate chili cupcake, you better believe I had one. It was everything I hoped it would be. I spoke with one of the staff and apparently they made a recent change to the recipe, he didn't think there was enough chili to balance out the chocolate content. Glad he made that call, had just the right amount of kick. They also have a great Kahlua cupcake that my mother is very fond of. I guess I come in during their down times, because when I go in, I'm there only patron. Surprised these guys don't have customers out the door. Especially since Divine Cupcake decided to take up the catering business.

Could someone please explain to me how it is possible that there are cream puffs in this world that are THIS amazing? I have over 30 years experience of putting all kinds of stuff in my mouth, all over the world, and damn, never have I tasted any kind of pastry that is this delicious! Like god himself just ejaculated into your mouth, I promise. If you don't try one of these, you are missing out on one of the best things you will ever find in Eugene! We also tried several cupcakes, and especially loved the Salted Caramel chocolate one. I really enjoy the chilled ganache on top, though for me, personally, there doesn't need to be a bunch of thick buttercream in the center of every cupcake. I really prefer the Divine Cupcake for their cupcakes that are larger and more cake-y with the frosting on top. That's very much a personal preference though, and I think most people will love the cupcakes at Larry's. The selection is remarkable (how do they keep so many fresh ones in stock?), and this would be a great place for party's, kids' birthdays, etc. We got a really cute cupcake with a rubber ducky on top! And the cream puffs come in plain with custard filling, the same only with chocolate on top, and a caramel cream one with caramel on top as well. We recommend the plain one for its perfectly baked shell, light dusting of powdered sugar, and ultra creamy custard filling! Satisfaction guaranteed.

I can't believe a cupcake place could spring into existence without my hearing about it first. But as if magnetized to its sugary aura, I stumbled upon Larry's Cupcakes three days after opening. I walked in a minute after closing to find a friendly Larry and a nice lady who I am guessing is his wife (It's Eugene--I don't want to assume anything) selling an absolutely dizzying variety of cupcakes. I think there were about 15 flavors to choose from and that was just what they had in the shop. As I understand it, there are even more on rotation. I ultimately settled on Boston Cream Pie, Peanut Butter, Pepper Chocolate, and Kahlua. These cupcakes have a lot going on. Not only are there more flavors that I can remember, but each cupcake is filled, frosted, AND dipped in a chocolate ganache. It would all be overwhelming were it not well-executed. And they are. Moist, tender, small crumb, a classic american buttercream, a flavorful but not too sweet filling, and a thin layer of ganache to top it off. The result is a shiny little morsel that is undeniably pretty and fun to eat. The downside: The price. $3.25 per average sized cupcake is on the higher end and made me hesitate before ordering four. But it's me. So. I did. I'd love to see a happy hour or some other incentive pricing. I think you had to buy a dozen before you got one free which is more than some of the other cupcake places I've frequented in other cities. I digress. The chill factor is also regrettable. The ganache is the type that gets melty at room temp, so these babies are kept in the cooler. I think cupcakes are generally best at room temperature so I had to wait. And I hate waiting. Definitely worth checking out. I'll likely be back to try the 20 flavors I missed.

went there couple times! love their cupcakes, not too sweet! very soft cupcakes! so good!!
(5)Emily S.
I am a cupcake person, so I was excited to finally trying these beauties. Like other reveiwers mentioned, there is a dazzling array of choices. I went with the beer nuts, the chai ginger, and the rosewater. I immediately ate the chai ginger, and was a little surprised at how cold and firm the filling was. I think the temperature might have also affected the flavor - it wasn't as much a punch of chai and ginger as I'd hoped. I let the other cupcakes sit out for about 10 minutes and the buttercream was just as it should be. Again, I was hoping that the rose was, well, more rosy, but the beer nuts was a really interesting mix of hoppy beer and chocolate and cream. The cake was perfectly moist and tender in all three. I'll definitely be back to try more, but will be judicious in my selections because of the price.
(4)Joanne W.
Amazing cupcakes! We tried the coconut gluten free, and the German chocolate. Delicious!

I was so excited to learn that this tiny cupcake shop was opening right near the office. For one thing, everyone in my office has a sweet tooth. I was picturing afternoon cupcake parties, quick walks to endulge on an afternoon, and many more fun images. So, I sent my secretary in. I wanted to purchase 2 dozen for the office, a sort of "welcome to the neighborhood cupcake shop", and treat for our staff. But at $71.50 for 2 dozen, she left the cupcake shop and went to the scrumptious cookie shop a block away where for 1/3 of that she was able to treat the office for a reasonable amount. The cupcakes are small, like the size of the ones that you would make at home. They are pretty, and offer a variety of flavors. I did go in and try the orange sherbet. It was good, not blow my mind good like other cupcake shops, but it was good. It was NOT $3.25 good. The price is super high, and the service is not friendly. I mean, they aren't rude or anything, they are pleasant enough...but definitely not thrilled to see you. So, this becomes another shop I will walk by on my way to another place downtown. That's too bad...if they hit the $2.00 - $2.50 mark on their cupcakes, they would be super busy (from my office alone!!)
(2)Laura C.
I was just in there. Standing in line and placing an order with the clerk when someone walks in behind me slams a dollar on the counter and says I want one of those little ones. The clerk stopped what he was doing with me to help the man. The very rude man who obviously couldn't wait his turn. The clerk was in control of the situation and should have had the man wait. I was placing an order for at least $18 worth of cupcakes and this clerk walked away from me to deal with $1. This is rude and uncalled for. I seriously think that this shop needs a lesson on customer service.

Best cupcakes I've had from a 'cupcake' shop - moist, fresh and delicious. Larry makes a large variety of flavors. A must stop if you are passing through Eugene.

saw the report on the news and when I went to Eugene decided to find it. I love to find good baked goods and they are hard to find. I bought 3 different ones for my husband and me to try when I got home to Bandon. The chocolate mint I was disappointed as the mint was more like a spearment than a peppermint and tasted like toothpaste in the middle and the cake was semi dry. the Kahlua had no kahula flavor at all and same cake. the tiramisu was ok . all had the same top chocolate and a small amount of buttercream which was not that bad. For the price I wanted to be blown away and was not a cupcake from safeway would have tasted the same.
(2)Jennie C.
I second the reviews and observations of Claire and Maret: there is much to like about Larry's cupcakes. We tried the "beer nuts" which had a filling that tasted so much like beer it was remarkable!!! It was unexpected and enjoyable I'm glad I tried it but would probably choose it occasionally. We tried the chili chocolate cupcake and found it delicious but not really very spicy. The marzipan was not like marzipan it was more like amaretto and yummy all the same just not marzipan. These cupcakes are presented well delicious and fresh (how DO they keep such a variety on hand?) the are a little spendy which would keep me from coming back as often as I'd like but the price wouldn't keep me from coming back to try other flavors. The filling isn't a heavy better cream but more of a flavored custard and I liked it more than I thought I would:). Now when I'm downtown and have a sweets craving I'd choose Larry's over Voodoo any day!
(5)Sierra S.
I love this place. A couple years ago, this place used to be in Ashland. I had gone once and it was super cute and the cupcake I got was really good. Then they moved to Eugene and even expanded! They have super cute cupcakes (the mini toadstool ones) and they also have bigger ones that are just spectacular. Super sweet though; if you're not a sweet-eater type of person, I wouldn't recommend this! The cakes aren't too rich either, which is nice. They are a little bit on the pricey side, but it's definitely worth it once in a while when you just need to satisfy that sweets craving!
(4)Claire P.
Their gluten-free cupcakes were some of the most creative and tasty I've ever had. Coming from Chicago, I wasn't sure if these would measure up to the city's standard, but they definitely were a pleasant surprise! The only thing missing was some indoor seating and forks and plates, which would make eating the cupcakes a bit easier. :) All in all, I would definitely go back if I visited Eugene again!
(5)Marcy M.
Yuuuuuuuummmyyyyy! Picked up a dozen mini cupcakes for my sister's birthday. I only tried the chocolate one but she said they were all good. I loved them because instead of traditional frosting they have a kind of mousse on them with a light shell of fondant or ganache on the outside. They are very sweet but small so I think they are just perfect! And so cute too. Although they were a little pricey I will definitely be coming back because they are so good. They do need to be kept cold so keep that in mind if you pick some up to go.
(5)Suzanne B.
We had walked by before and they all looked good. So we went in and oh my goodness the choices you have to make. So we each picked 2 cupcakes to take home. They are packaged great so they made it home great. They are so fresh and taste GREAT. They had a flavored cream filling in the center. They are not too sweet, just right. There are 37 flavors so I am sure you will find one you love. We will be returning for more scrumptious cupcakes.
(5)Jess T.
Update: they are apparently not making vegan cupcakes anymore.... HUGE bummer. They were delicious and the only ones the lactose intolerant crowd could eat. Wah wah.
(4)Maki D.
Yay this cupcake shop has gone above an beyond what I thought was possible in a cupcake! The amount of options for cupcakes makes it really hard to decide, but then that's when you order half a dozen....right? Lol. My favorites: pink champagne, Oregon hazelnut, tres leches, and salted caramel. OMG! These creations are: cake, with a creamy topping, covered in ganache. Or if you're going big, then creamy bottom, cake, creamy top, more cake, ganache and chocolate on the very top. Seriously how can anyone not like any of that? They even offer gluten free and vegan options. They have two very convenient locations which makes it hard to avoid (for me). Come nosh on a delectable cupcake at Toadstools!

The filling isn't a heavy better cream but more of a flavored custard and I liked it more than I thought I would:). Now when I'm downtown and have a sweets craving I'd choose Larry's over Voodoo any day!
