Worst burrito I can remember. Bland. Even Taco Bell is better.

I love burritos. Grill them, like TEPV does, I love them even more. I got the al pastore, which wasn't as pineapply as I normally like it (reason for the 4 and not 5). The fact that it was grilled though, which allowed all the ingredients to meld together, made it a top notch burrito in my books. Definitely stop here if you like great burritos.

Darn good toasted burrito. Not a fancy place to sit and dine. Wasn't a fan of either of their hot sauces. I'd come here again but would likely opt for take out so I could put my own hot sauce on the tasty burrito.

the best vegan burrito in the eugene area. the woman who owns the place is the sweetest ever. So nice, so delicious.

Toasted Burrito! So delicious. You get a huge burrito for 6 bucks, made to order. Not a lot of people know about this place but it is so much better than anything else in the area. And the woman who works here is always such a sweetheart!

Great little place for Mexican! Al Pastor is a must.

Every time I move to a new town I seek out the best Mexican in town. It didn't take long to realize Pato Verde was that place. I have 3 kids and they also love the burritos. My 5 year old is constantly begging to go there. The owners are friendly and make delicious food.

This is probably the only authentic Mexican restaurant in all of Eugene. My girlfriend and I gave it a shot and were not disappointed! This is a hole in the wall restaurant that is not quick! They take their time to make your food fresh for every order. My grilled burrito was one of the best I've ever had and the nachos were fresh and obviously made with care! If you're looking for REAL Mexican food then this is the place you need to be. Don't settle for chipotle or Qdoba, come HERE!

For a $5 burrito in Eugene, this is as good as it gets! I would pretty much take it over any burrito in town, actually. They do it all from scratch here. Even the hot sauces are freshly made. There is a jalapeno and another pepper-based hot sauce. Both are great! Prices are cheaper than Burrito Amigo and Burrito Boy the two mediocre-poor chains in town. It is owned by a couple, and they make it all and give it the quality control that only such a small, family-run business can. The only area that El Pato Verde is lacking is in the menu. There really isn't much to choose from. Just the bare taqueria basics, which likely their way of catering to the campus crowd. They do it well, which is better than most Mexican restaurants in Eugene, but it only makes one wish that they used their talents to bring something a little more inspired to Eugene's culinary landscape.

If I could give this place more than five stars I would! Pato verde kept me satiated throughout my college years. Rosie and her husband are the sweetest. She always knew my order and was sure to make my burrito extra toasted. The size is perfect and you can't beat the price.

First time in the Eugene area and found this gem through Yelp. Cozy atmosphere with delicious food. Didn't have a clue what to order, but the helpful lady suggested the grilled sweet pork burrito super. Awesome! For some reason I ordered a wheat tortilla... Get the white. Cheers.

Been here once and it was enough to make me not go back again. I love burritos, so I know what I talking about when I say these burritos have no flavor. I would doubt it if the meat is marinated in anything, and really the only good thing about the burrito is that it's grilled! Upon having no flavor, my burrito took roughly 20 minutes to make, which seemed off considering there were only two other people in the restaurant...both already eating their food. This place is just as crumby as their neighbors, Miso. Sorry!

pains me to do this to this mom and pop mexican place, but, i was not impressed. prices are reasonable - hovering around $5 for a burrito. looks like they put a lot of effort and even grill it, yet, sadly it just tastes really bland and the size is on the smaller end for burritos. it is filling but not mega sized like most places. the biggest problem was probably the lack of seasoning - can't really explain, just bland.

Great Mexican food that I wasn't expecting in a small college town in Oregon. We ordered the carne asada tacos, pork tostada, and the enchilada plate, which were all delicious. We also had chips and guacamole, which was made fresh right after we ordered.

Sometimes it takes a bit of time for an order to be served up, but their soft tacos and toasted burritos are worth the wait.

Al Pastor is the way to go here. Delicious food, and toasted burritos just make everything better.

Honestly some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had... I had the super burrito, it took forever to come out even though I was one of two people in the restaurant. I had it with carne Asada and it was some of the most bland meat I've ever tasted... Take my advice and don't waste your time or your money... Any of the other options on 13th are better.

My first time ordering from here and I won't be back. I ordered the 3 enchilada meal (delivered via a local delivery company) and it was inedible. The chicken had no flavor and the "enchilada sauce" was terrible. I couldn't finish even 1 of the 3 enchiladas. Super disappointed because I always root for the underdog (in this case what sounds like a mom and pop restaurant).

Been there lots of times, I love the refried beans filled into the grilled tortillas with flavored meat, so nice! Chicken burrito is my favorite one.The Mexican couple of the store are very friendly.

I used to eat here sometimes and like it. I would even get their packaged burritos at Littles market occasionally. Really nice couple who run the place also. But last time I had it there was a bunch of bugs in my burrito which I realized halfway through. Don't eat here unless you like bugs.

I wouldn't necessarily categorize this as Mexican food. Coming from California, I wanted to find something close to the Mexican food at home. While it did have a friendly atmosphere (the two people running the place were very friendly), I wasn't too satisfied with the food (I got a wet pato verde with rice al pastor burrito). While the al pastor and tortilla had great flavor, I found that the rest of the ingredients mimicked those of store bought prepared food (the tortilla chips did not seem home made). The rice in particular had what seemed to be canned carrots, peas and corn mixed in. The lettuce in the burrito was also very soggy. I'd classify this place as more of a wrap place, due to the fact that they also threw pineapple in the burrito. I went based on recommendations off of here, but I probably won't go back again.

Very friendly mom & pop establishment. Very sparse ambience, but normal for taco joints like that. Heard really good things about this place so I was very excited. I ordered the taco salad thinking it'd be a hearty salad with yummy chips on the side. It was however, incredibly unsatisfying. They basically threw 1/4 of rice over chips and added some vegetables and a very small amount of salsa. No amount of extra salsa could give this meal some substance or taste. My friends burrito on the other hand was really good, could have used a bit more flavor but tasty nonetheless. Not sure if I'll ever go back, unless its to get one of those burritos!

This place was really quiet when I got in. It could be because there aren't too many students who know about this place and summertime isn't exactly the most highly-populated time for us in Eugene. I was the only person in there and I was also their very first customer for the day at around 1 in the afternoon. The restaurant is very small (probably can hold a maximum of 20 people) and there's not much going on in there. I couldn't spot any sauces or condiments, which was unfortunate but also understandable if it is a place where many orders are taken "to go". Since I was the only person there, there wasn't much reason to dine in so I took my order to go. I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito and it was priced at $4.25, which I found very reasonably priced for a burrito. The kitchen is open to the customers' view so I was able to watch them make my burrito. It was great to see that they were making everything from scratch and were using fresh, high quality ingredients. When she handed me my burrito, however, I was a bit shocked by how small the burrito was. It was just a little smaller than a 500 mL water bottle, and I was able to hold it easily with one hand. That being said, the burrito was delicious. I was a bit surprised not to find any potatoes in the burrito, but it had beans to give the burrito moisture--something that most breakfast burritos lack. Although I was disappointed by the size of the burrito, I thought it tasted great and I could tell that high-quality ingredients were used. Overall, I gave this place 4-stars because the atmosphere of the restaurant wasn't very appealing and I didn't realize I was paying for quality over quantity with such a small business. I'll have to go back during the school year and dine in to give it a fair review, however.

After spending many years enjoying the best burritos on earth (i.e. SF Mission District), my first priority upon moving to a new location is to find the best burrito in town. This quest began in Eugene in July and now, five months later, is complete. The verdict: Pato Verde. Don't miss the al pastor.

How did I not yelp about this place yet? I hope they are still getting enough business, I know it always seemed slower after the Peace Health staff was gone. I can see how El Pato would be struggling, so you should go now! Many a break between classes was spent lounging around The Green Duck studying and enjoying their delicious toasted burritos. El Pato may have the best breakfast burrito in town. I love me some bacon breakfast burrito. The great thing about El Pato is that it's close to campus, yet it seems that the majority of the students don't know it's there. This means it's the perfect place to order some food and study a book/read a book/write a book, without an Alpha Phi sorority girl bitching on her BlackBerry about her sister stretched her sports bra. "That BITCH!" I assume it's owned by the husband who does the cooking and the wife who takes your order. Seriously, try the toasted burritos. All this talk makes me want to stop by tomorrow on my way to work.

Pretty great! Way better than qdoba or any other. For 6 bucks you get a decent size grilled burrito that tastes great close to campus.

Im not big on mexican food but this place impressed me. The prices were great for such authentic, quality food. It feels like your in someone's kitchen. They even have the best Horchata(drink) i have ever tasted.

So, so, so , so so, good! We were looking for a quick place to grab a bite after a tour of the campus and nothing popped out. Did a quick check on Yelp and found this gold mine. The decor is nothing amazing but the food is just that. I wish I lived there and could have a toasted burrito once a week! My son had a quesadilla that he claimed was the best he had ever had. I would highly recommend stopping if you are looking for something delicious and filling that you truly can't get anywhere else. Huge fan!

They is a quick-food place centrally located in the University District. The aesthetics were kind of underwhelming. Granted, I have been to quite a few taquerias in my lifetime, so my expectations aren't even fancy, but the space had more of an "afterthought-kind-of-feeling" rather than anything that they wanted to place some thought into. i.e. No ethnic feel, no restaurant branding, etc. There were a few plain tables/chairs, plain tile floor, no menu board, etc. Good size windows of the street scene, though! Again, since there was no menu board, I wasn't ready to order once it was my turn... I ordered the Super Burrito with shredded pork, no beans, extra avocado. All in all, it came out to appr. 7.00 or so. I thought I'd feel more comfortable walking back to the comforts of my hotel room rather than eating in the restaurant, so I ordered it to-go. The wait time must have been about 20-25 minutes, though, and for quick food in a taqueria, that is perhaps too long of a wait. I asked for salsa, and they really REALLY scrimped on it. The little dinky plastic container was quite honestly about 1/2 oz. or so. Though the burrito tasted super good, I thought that the size was underwhelming and surely not PHAT enough. I hadn't had anything to eat all day long, and was looking forward to something that was gonna "bomb my gut"! I dunno. Perhaps I had set my expectations too high while doing a mental comparison of what I am used to in California, however, the considering the small size of the burrito, I thought the price was is a little on the higher side considering that the average in Cali is more around 6.00 (for something 1/2 the size larger) Other than that, it was nicely grilled which gave it kind of an infused aromatic falvor; the meat was super tender; and the salsa was nice and spicy. This place was really good, but if I rate everything as a whole, it's gonna have to be 3-stars.

I like supporting locally owned and family operated establishments. The food is delicious, particularly the quesadillas. The location is right in the middle of the University District and very convenient if you frequent that area.

Mmmmm... blended horchata. Sweet frothy cinnamon drink bubbling over the top... Delicious! A new favorite item at an old favorite location :)

Pato Verde is a perfect lunch spot. It's a mom-and-pop with a great location near campus, but somehow get passed over by the rabble: the foot traffic tends, I guess, more toward Qdoba. This is just as well: there's seldom a line, and always tables available. The burritos are quite possibly the best in town. I recommend the chicken Pato Verde burrito. They make their own salsas, which are delicious but can vary. I'll note that they are pretty lacking in vegetarian options, and the one or two veggie offerings are mediocre. Omnivores, however, will be pleased.

I love their burrito! They roast the burrito skin so it becomes crunchy. The price is reasonable, I and my wife go there twice a week.

I really wanted to like this place better. We were craving some mexican on the way up to Portland the other day and this rated well. The other reviewers are right, the decor and ordering experience leave much to be desired. There are more ads for a pregnant phone help service then the menu. You walk up to the counter and there is a printed menu in a plastic sleeve to order from. That I would have easily looked over if the food had been more flavorful. Maybe it's the fact we have a larger Hispanic population in Reno then Eugene (who actually knows) but the Mexican we were served was more like watered down, then 'Mexican'. While the quality of the ingredients were good, there wasn't much in the way of flavors. I would considering this some sort of 'fusion' mexican place. Food did take a while, be it they weren't very busy. It appears to be a husband and wife couple running this place - I admire small business and it pains me not to be able to say better things. Wish there were hot sauces, meat was better seasoned and that the flavors popped. We both came in hungry and left as such. We both got burritos, I the super burrito. Needs more flavor guys.

Good food. Fresh ingredients. Friendly service. I had the vegetarian Burrito on a whole wheat tortilla. It was tasty with fun fillings. It was vegan with an option to add dairy.

Was expecting WAY more due to the previous reviews. Youve got to be kidding! The food is probably authentic Mexican but very bland. Being from Texas we want a little kick in our Mexican. Here are the pros and cons Pros: 1. It is a mom and pop establishment and they are VERY friendly. 2. The location is good to the university. Cons: 1. It is SMALL and somewhat dingy. 4 tables and window seats. Maybe seats 20. 2. The meat was very fatty. Had to spit a lot out. 3. The sauce was bland. Tried to keep adding some to give our food some flavor to no avail. Bottom line. Would not recommend.

Tacos Al Pastor......this is the only place I know of within Lane County that prepares them the traditional way. You know how they do gyro meat? Well the marinated and spiced pork here is cut fresh and hot from the spit. sooo good. On top of that there are veggie and vegan options that are super delicious as well. The husband and wife owners are down to earth and provide simple yet intoxicatingly delicious fare. Please go support the only authentic tacos al pastor in Lane county (that I know of).

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
