Great place! Probably my favorite sushi place in eugene. I've been coming here for years and never left the place disappointed. Their sashimi (raw fish) is fresh and specialty rolls were exceptional. My favorite is the titanic roll and heart attack roll. Also, don't forget to try the calamari appetizer.

This place just isn't for me. I loved the price of their Unagi don, but the meal was incredibly lackluster and, honestly, kinda gross. The unagi tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave, and then some room temperature eel sauce was very lightly drizzled onto it. The rice was soggy. Also, the fat and skin seemed to have been removed which is a big no-no for unagi as that's where the bulk of the flavor comes from (aside from the eel sauce). A good Unagi don should be broiled, or grilled in some way, with the fat and skin left on to give you that fatty buttery flavor. The sauce should become thick from the cooking process and really cling to, and become one with, the fish. In addition, it's completely unacceptalbe for a sushi place to be serving soggy/mush rice.

Employees are always nice and welcoming. Weekday lunch is nice and calm. I always get the lunch specials. Great price. You can customize by picking two options from their list plus miso soup, cucumber salad and rice. Sushi seems acceptable to me. Have seen Bento boxes ordered by others and they look lavish. As a matter of fact the staff had two waiting for a couple of patrons who called ahead. It looked flawless... The whole thing. They walked in, said they called ahead, sat down at the already prepared table and start eating. Now that's service! I like it here.

I have been coming here for years and love it. The Titanic, Crazy Roll and Catapillar rolls are just a few of my favs. Man and if you love salad, try the Salmon Carpaccio salad. Omg! So good. Best place in town and I've tried almost every one.

The Domo never disappoints. We had tuna & yellow tail to start. Followed by miso soup, then washed down with a cold Asahi beer. My dinning partner had the poke salad and it was simply amazing. You cannot go wrong here considering you are in a strip mall in Eugene, Oregon!! This place could take your taste buds to Hawaii or some cool destination like San Diego. Just close your eyes when you take that first bite!! Enjoy!

Sushi Domo was my first sushi experience in Eugene. Crazy busy when we went, so service wasn't great. Lots of options, and everything we ate was great.

Not bad not bad! Sushi was good but I think I was a bit meh about my ikura sushi - the roe was not as "fresh" as I might've thought it should be. HOWEVER!!!! They have a few Korean dishes on their menu ie YooGaeJang! I will def go back and try that and review again. I had Kalbi tonight with my daughter and it was great! Hubby had BBQ chicken with beans and he polished it off. My son of course ordered 2 different sushi - in & out salmon and tiger rolls, he was quite happy and barely offered to share lol. Clean & nice. Def going back... Btw I am Asian ya know and I do get picky!

So my better half and I have been to a few different sushi restaurants in the Springfield / Eugene area and now I'm ready to write a review. Sushi Domo is legit. Makes me feel like Sushi Ota in SD. My gauge for a sushi restaurant's rating is first and foremost; the freshness of the fish which includes the appearance as well as the meticulous preparation which includes knife skills. Sushi Domo impresses even before tasting their rolls. The two sushi chefs are most certainly artisans in their craft. We ordered 4 rolls: Delta, Hawaiian, Dragon, and Tuna In & Out and we also ordered Unagi (Fresh Water Eel) and Ame-Ebi (Dancing Shrimp [My favorite as I also eat the heads!!!]). The Ame-Ebi is soooo good here. Additionally, we got some Unagi which damn near tasted like a warm piece of candy-just delicious. The rolls are also cut evenly with the pieces in each roll equal to one another (1-sushi pet peeve of mine). This is our second time here and the rolls are also tightly wrapped/pressed so they don't fall apart (another pet peeve of mine). The presentation is rather spectacular too and the decor of this location is also date night quality even though I'm rocking the sweats & house slippers ensemble today (hey, I'm on call for work). We will definitely be back to feed or sushi cravings and we hope you come to this place too!!! I also hope y'all are game to try the dancing shrimp!!!

Good sushi at this price, do I really need to say anything else? Will be here for lunch anytime I'm in the area!

Flavorful, interesting and a good bang for your buck. I like fusion type sushi which means I like nontraditional flavors and this place is great for that. The titanic roll is my favorite. It has many different flavors including salmon, roe, lemon and Siracha. The titanic is one of the more expensive rolls on the menu at around 13, which I do not find super high for sushi, and the portion is large. I usually get just the titanic and a good beer for 3.25. I have also enjoyed their Heart Attack roll which has jalapenos and cream cheese and the caterpillar with tasty eel and yummy delicate flavor. I am rating it a 4 instead of a 5 only because I have not experienced much to compare it to.

We were in town for a show and had a really great lunch at Sushi Domo. Nice space, pleasant service and great sushi. We had their cucumber salad, a california roll, a caterpillar roll, and uni. Everything was perfect. I'll be back again when I'm in the area. Thank you Sushi Domo!

This is the only place my wife & I go to have sushi. Great food, my favorite roll is "The Titanic"...service can be so-so, it's gotten better the last few times we've been.

Best sushi place in town! Hand down. Spider roll, all the veggie rolls, negi hama is delicious. They have great sake selections and prices are pretty good. I'd rather pay more for good quality fish anyways. The staff is always very friendly too. :-)

Sushi Domo is one of those places I always seem to forget about. Perhaps it's because the location is hidden away a little? I also recently discovered Izumi which I like better, but Sushi Domo is a good restaurant. Tasty, fresh sushi. Lot of Americanized rolls, wide selection on the menu. They definitely love the spicy mayo and eel sauce here, most things are drenched in it, but if you order some simpler rolls you'll be fine. My husband -loves- the spicy calamari here. Service is a little 'cool', but we prefer that to waitresses who come by every two minutes, so it's no problem for us.

Wow! I live in pdx and come down for business. I have been to three other places here in the Eugene area and have been really disappointed. Until now ..... One word - FRESH, my sake sashimi melted in my mouth , the rolls were well done, I requested was rice , done, fast, clean , no fuss , no frying smell, no pretentions (Unami ). Thank you, now I have a place for sushi in Eugene.

Great sushi at good prices! Had my first taste of sushi here, was brought by a group of self proclaimed sushi snobs, several years have gone by and I'm still eating sushi, really like it! Would come back here again for sure!

Eugene has a few good Sushi spots, Domo has always been one of them. Today we came by to get dinner and were treated indifferently and food was very slow. The rolls we ordered all fell apart and were cut with no care. I expect better when I get sushi anywhere, even a grocery store. If the service had been fast and attentive I may have enjoyed the dinner. Tonight it was not good. Step it up Domo you have done better in years past!
(2)

I only had the spicy chicken bento box. The serving size was great. I left feeling satisfied. The service was great. I hope to return to Eugene soon to try the sushi. An all-you-can-eat menu would be sweet!!

I like sushi domo because they keep things pretty traditional. Everything's fresh, and tightly rolled. They don't top everything with spicy sauces that cancel out the taste of the fish. Miso is really good. It's not very expensive either, but you still get the feeling that you're having some quality fish.

We like theTempura Guido! Tempura veggies are very nice as well. Staff is friendly and attentive. The vegetable udon soup is good. We eat here about once a month. Update Jan./2014. These incidents happened on our last two visits: Our order was up and we watched the hostess walk over to the counter to pick them up, only to turn around and go to the register to collect payment. Shouldn't she have brought our hot food first? Second time, we waited forever for the sushi. They seemed to be preparing take out orders while we waited. It was too, too long a wait. Our waiter was very good in taking care of the situation.

We were hopeful, seeing good reviews, but the rolls weren't up to par. Others in our party had dinner items off the menu and said they were tasty, but the focus was ROLLS! Like the Philly, a simple favorite, tasted like it was made with smoked salmon. Not horrible but not good, not what we expect. Had some first time sushi eaters with us and I think that it'll be their last time, as some rolls were fishy, and that's usually an indicator for me, fishy smelling and tasting sushi isn't so good. If it weren't for the people who didn't get sushi loving their plates, the rating would be 2 stars.

Good sushi, and pretty reliable. Have been served some less than perfect stuff here quality-wise, but generally it's pretty good, Some sushi bars vary in quality depending upon when they shop and when you go. Unfortunately, they want you to order everything up front, which is not the way I like to eat sushi, but other than Sushi PURE, every place in Eugene does it this way. Overall, one of my top three sushi places in town.

Salad came with dead bugs--dead ants (that's right--ants, not just one). When we pointed it out to the waitress, she just brought a new salad with... you guessed it--ants. I expected that they would comp something or offer a discount--nothing. The service was pretty poor as well. They didn't have a lot of staff, but the restaurant wasn't that busy either. This was our second visit. I don't like to make rash judgements--you never know if there's just a bad night or something. Unfortunately not, this will be the last time we go here. The rolls didn't impress me either. They were okay, but I have had a lot better.

Sushi Domo is great. My favorite is nigiri and it's cut well, decent sized pieces without being umm... ya know, so big they fall out of my mouth while I'm trying to eat them, and everything's always the right temp. The miso soup is great. The rolls are great. Everything is consistently great. Seating is easy. Service is maybe a little aloof but not bad. Bottom line is that I love Sushi Domo because I know I'm going to get great sushi no hassle and no headache. Def. recommend.

Sushi domo used to be our spot for sushi until Izumi's opened. They do have good rolls, tight, fresh and tasty. What drives me crazy about this place? Their hours of operation!! I mean come on, why the hell would you be closed at 2pm on a Saturday? They also have some screwy times where they're open for lunch, but then close a few hours to get ready for dinner. Really?? You cant make that preparation without staying open? The one time we ate at the restaurant we were treated like hell kinda. The waitress was short and flip with us. I dont remember conversation, but I remember my wife being pissed off at how rude they treated us. Which is why we would opt for take our vs dinning in. They used to be the main hook, but there's a new sushi slinger on the block, and they've took all our business AND THEN SOME....*cough* izumis*cough* I was gonna knock them down to 2 stars, but their sushi is good so they can keep the 3rd

To My Future Husband, Can you take me to Sushi Domo por favor? I'd love you long time if you did ;D I wanna go with just me and you, cause it's a nice little quaint place (not so good with groups). We will kinda sit elbow to elbow with the people next to us, but the deliciousness of the food will make up for it. It's the best sushi place in Eugene... Don't forget your wallet cause I'm going for broke when we order. Each roll is average $10, and there are at least 4 that I want; Red Bull (Shrimp Tempura, unagi, avocado, garnish, smelt roe & special sauce), Titanic (Shrimp Tempura, tuna, salmon, crab, avocado, asparagus, spicy aoli, & ponzu sauce), Lobster (Spicy tuna, cucumber, crab meat, baked lobster & stuffed lobster top), & the Heart Attack (Spicy tuna, jalapeno, cream cheese & sauce). I like the crazy rolls, but if you're more traditional they have that too (like california rolls and stuff). There like 30+ different sushi to choose from. But if you don't like sushi at all, they have other entrees too; Katsus, Udons, Tempura, etc...the typical Japanese food. I liked the Spicy Chicken and the Ukaba (BBQ Unagi). Even the entrees are like $7 - $10, decent size portions. I'm a huge sushi fan, and prefer the crazy/elaborate sushis. For people that aren't sushi-eaters probably won't like it as much but I LOVE it. But let's try and got before the rush cause it's typically busy and I don't feel like waiting. Always & Forever, kaibemi buks

Overrated! I am always shocked to see this listed as the best sushi restaurant in town. I have been there numerous times and have always walked away disappointed. If you are looking for a deep-fried, fake crab, mayo bomb then this may be the place for you. If you are a true fan of sushi and quality Japanese food then look elsewhere.

I was sick and they gave me miso soup. Pretty much all I want when I am sick is miso soup. They have some very inventive vegetarian rolls- not just the usual acocado and cucumber. The one I got had both of those, but also shitakes, sprouts, radish, and a couple of other things. I left there not feeling quite as shivery and icky as I did when I entered.

Sushi Mushi My Well some of the sushi is excellent. But it is fusion so do not expect lots of traditional dishes. One is creepy - Eugenian - deep fried sushi with cream cheese. One of the dishes had little fish eggs and some very hot spice. My tummy did not feel well for 24 hours afterwards. The California rolls are delicious. I will not go back. It is expensive, portions are modest. Service is soso. The first time we ate there was a nightmare for my dish. I just should have cancelled after the 3 rd time they brought it back and it was still screwed up. Nice folks, but I would not recommend eating here.

This was a decent place for sushi, though I'm not sure I would "rave" about it. It seems that the regulars knew what to order for lunch, but I was new so I didn't, and got kind of a weird assortment. "lunch special" wasn't all it was cracked up to be and my waiter was less than knowledgeable about the menu. For the same price as Izumi, I'd much rather go there. Much better atmosphere and more straightforward menu.

This review is a little overdue. I didn't expect much from this place. Being that it was my first time in Oregon and having no idea how Asian food taste like up there. This place is actually pretty packed on a Friday night. Then again, the question should be what's open after 8 p.m. in this town. Their menu is actually pretty big. My friend and i ended up sharing some sushi. Coincidentally, we ordered the San Francisco Roll, which had shrimp , avocado and cucumber. The roll was pretty big, and it was pretty good. Well anything with avocado in it is good. We also go the S.B.C #1 roll, which was Baked Scallop roll. This turned out to be my favorite roll, to bad i had to share it. It was so good, and warm, ad it had this buttery taste to it. The crunchy california roll was pretty good too. There was way too much sushi on the table. Overall, i will totally come back here the next time i'm in Eugene.

Some of the best sushi in Eugene! It does take them a while to make the sushi, but I think it is worth it.

I like this place. It's not as fancy as Izumi and I kindof like that if your in the mood for a quiet sushi dinner with the hubby or something. Their prices aren't too bad and the fish is fresh. They could stand to hire a couple more servers. They are always running around like it's the busiest night they've ever had, every night. This place is good. I'll be back.

I heard that this suppose to be the best sushi in town. That it may be. Went here with RJ and MW for lunch. Service was decent, nothing special, but nothing bad. A large diversity of different types of sushi. I appreciated that the ginger was not dyed. Small things like that I notice with my sushi. Overall decent sushi. Naturally will not compare to sushi I've had in Okinawa, Hawaii, SF or LA, but for Eugene, best I have had so far.

I am not understanding a lot of the bad and lower-ended reviews for this restaurant. If you are a lover of Japanese food, like I am, this is a great place to eat. My boyfriend took me here on my birthday. I was a little nervous because he doesn't like sushi (can't stand raw fish), and I thought he would hate the place. But whether or not you love sushi is irrelevant, because they have something for everyone. If you don't like fish, they have plenty of other meaty deliciousness -- like chicken and pork. They also have Japanese soups and salads. For those of you who are like me, though, you LOVE sushi. And this place has great sushi! Very reasonably priced and it tastes perfect. The variety of sushi they have is much better than the other places I have been in town, so I was able to try some rolls I have never had before. Sushi Domo has a very authentic feel to the place. The tables are only equipped with chopsticks (although you can get a fork if you ask for one), and the chefs prepare the food in front of you if you choose to sit at the bar. The service was very good and, even though the restaurant was packed, we got our food in a very timely manner. I recommend this place to anyone who likes Japanese cuisine! Oh, and try their strawberry lemonade. :) It's soooo good!

This is one of my two favorite sushi joints in Lane County. The sushi is fresh, delicious, presented well, and there are a variety of different choices for fish lovers or vegetarians. One thing I will note is the customer service is very hit or miss and the majority of the time we have been there it's been a miss. Please note, if you are in any sort of hurry don't go here. You will run late. If you are just going out for a leisurely eat with no time constraints no worries!

Tried this place out last night because it's near where friends in town live, and because Kamitori was slammed. It's a bad sign when a sushi restaurant is 3/4 empty in the middle of the evening, and the server still takes 10 minutes to bring water and menus. The rice with the nigiri sushi was dry and crusty. Most of the fish was tasteless. No wasabi on any of the nigiri sushi. The unagi was cold. The miso was at least acceptable. The server, looking sheepish, offered to bring us another miso for free (not nearly enough - we declined), and promised to "berate the chef." Berating the chef in a place like this wouldn't begin to address the issue (assuming the sushi chef would even listen to the very young server to begin with). The problem in this place is systemic. In thirty-five years of eating sushi, this restaurant ranks in my all-time bottom three. Never again.

Absolutely my favorite sushi EVER! I love Domo & am never disappointed . My favorite rolls are the rainbow, crunchy California and the Philadelphia (that I get with fresh salmon). My kids love to eat here & we've been going there for over a decade. When my family, from California, come for a visit they always request to go to Sushi Domo for their delicious boat combo. The prices are reasonable & the service is impeccable. So great!

Loved this place! Not authentic in every way, but it's a great place for a bento lunch. For a very reasonable price, I got hot tea, miso soup and ginger salad, tempura veggies and shrimp, a couple pieces of California roll, teriyaki salmon with vegetables and a bowl of rice. I also got some hot sake to warm me up on a rainy day and it was really great. I would definitely go back at dinner or lunch for a reasonable value in a nice atmosphere. Probably one of the best Japanese meals I've had in Eugene so far.

Great place! Reasonably priced, helpful and nice servers, and fresh sushi! We had some rolls and the seaweed salad which was so delicious and crunchy and also included marinated cucumbers. The ambiance is quiet but it's in a strip mall so the location is a bit blah, but the actual restaurant is nicely, though simply, decorated. The blue lights behind the shelving give it a relaxing, cool vibe. Go here if you're craving a nice casual sushi experience, not to be seen or have a fancy dinner.

This place used to be my favorite. They have really creative rolls, and good other food as well. Their ginger honey tea is the bomb. Recently, they raised their prices, putting it out of our regular price bracket. Also, I went there with a large party, and one person got rancid wine, and there were 2 mistakes/omissions from our order. Maybe this was all a fluke, but the high prices do make me a little sad.

As a resident of Seattle, moving to Eugene meant knowingly sacrificing a lot of Asian foods and it was in fear that finding a decent Japanese restaurant would end as a hopeless journey, but then Sushi Domo allowed me to rejoice once again. Although a bit more expensive than expected, the quality of the sushi was a bit above average which was unexpected on my part since there are fairly few Japanese restaurants in the area. Portions were a bit small and ended up ordering the agadashi tofu just to prime myself for the rest of the meal. The tofu was delicious, above average from a number of places that we have tried including restaurants in Seattle, but the sushi itself was on par with some of our favorite places as far as quality. Atmosphere within the restaurant was inviting, but its odd location in a strip mall type of setting initially threw us off. So, here is the verdict: Sushi Domo is worth trying if you are not incredibly worried about price and it has now set the bar for the rest of the Japanese places that we hope to be visiting in the coming months.

love this place---I go here with my girls and we love to get the Heart Attack; Mexico City; Eugene Roll; Vegas Roll and Phili Roll......top that off wtih a couple of beers----YUMMMO I highly recommend the Heart Attack if you love spicy and jalapenos! My 15 yr old loves it. Great place to go on a date or with a group of friends.

Teriyaki tofu was awesome... Vegetable tempura roll was good, without the cream cheese. I didn't appreciate having to fill out a slip for the rolls, because there was no room to write special orders. Luckily the tofu appetizer was so good, I forgot all about that, and we left with full happy bellies. They also had wheat free tamari available upon request, so that was a big plus for my gluten free friend.

After not being to Domo in about 2-3 months we went for dinner last weekend. I was dissapointed that their rice seemed old, in both texture and taste. Also their sushi seemed to shrink a little. My wifes' non-sushi selection was good but not spectacular. I had some Nigiri and Maki. The Nigiri still had great flavor and freshness, but it seemed smaller than it had ever been. The Maki saved the day, the Spider and Spicy Tuna were very good. The Cracker Roll was what saved this review from being a complete lynching.

I went here for dinner recently, and overall I think Sushi Domo is a fairly good place to eat. The only complaint I'd have is that the prices seem somewhat high - Many of their 2-piece sushi offerings are between $4.00 and $5.00. I could see easily spending over $10 here to get enough food to feel full. Another thing I thought was disappointing is that on Saturdays, they don't open until 4:00PM. I was hoping to go here for lunch on a Saturday at 12:30, but they were closed. I tend to prefer conveyor-belt sushi restaurants, but this is not one of them. However, all orders are prepared to order, and the flavor is good. The quality seems fairly good, too. Overall, I think this is a good restaurant, and I would eat here again.

I could live off of Sushi and for a summer I basically did have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If Sushi Domo was the only place for sushi in town, I still wouldn't waste my money on it. I have been here multiple times and gotten to go from them as well, it has always been so so...Last night was the last time I ever pay to get sushi from them. $43 down the drain, the rolls were not evenly sliced, they were falling a part, the seaweed was CHEWY! seaweed is supposed to be crispy! I was beyond disappointed, if I lived closer to them I would have taken it back after the first bite. Service was bad, when I called to mention the rolls were supposed to be 8 instead of 6 they told me the menu online was wrong and hasn't been updated...okay so are you going to offer to fix it...nope. Finally had to ask how they could fix it, after discussing it with them for a bit we finally gave up and just dealt with the loss. The miso was okay but not the best. I won't be going anywhere for sushi except for Sushi Pure and Izumis now, I know it is great from these two places. Pure has better service compared to Izumis though so that would be my first pick. Don't understand how they can rank #1 in eugene's best sushi...my guess is the people voting haven't had good sushi so domo is the best to them. Utterly Disappointed:(

It's OK...I mean I have had better and it seems a little overpriced. The sashimi was really paper thin and the price was outrageous. The seaweed salad was a bit over dressed but if you like a lot of dressing and not be able to taste the seaweed then have at it. I won't be returning anytime soon

Korean/Japanese restaurant near delta highway... I thought the sushi were pretty good, and the Korean soup tasted good also. The people were nice, but service was very slow.... We asked for a spoon to eat noodle with, and they didn't bring us to spoon before we finished eating.... and the food came out pretty slow..... Overall, the food tasted alright, especially, when you compare it to restaurant nearby.

I think Domo has the best sushi in town. Even over Sushi Pure. The problem is the strip mall location. Once you go inside it's much better though, they've done a nice job with decor. The sushi selection is HUGE and everything is quite delicious. Service is great too. The only detractor is the strip mall location- but they make up for it in sushi freshness and selection. You want atmosphere- Sushi Pure You want the best raw fish & selection- Sushi Domo.

Second worst sushi restaurant here in Eugene. Bento box was a huge mistake. My bbq korean kalbi wasn't grilled it seemed like it was simmered in korean bbq sauce. The tempura in the bento was a carrot and one shrimp. The salad dressing was gross. Our sushi didn't come with any wasabi or ginger. Anyway 2 stars, because at least the waitress was very friendly. Would not go back. The sushi wasn't that fresh. The worst california rolls in my life. Seriously. I had better sushi in Salt lake city.

I'm no sushi expert but--I loved this place! Wonderfully tasty options! If you have family members who are sushi adverse, this might not be the best choice. My daughter and I especially enjoyed the pickled veggie salad together, but this is not a place I'll be able to get my mother to ever return too. I found the service pleasant.

So my friends and I decided to head to this place because it had the best rating here on yelp. Well, I'm starting to learn that Eugene food still has a ways to catch up to my old favorite places up in Beaverton. Honestly the food was pretty good. I had the Shrimp Killer roll--3 styles of shrimp, drizzled with sweet unagi sauce. Had no complaints about it's taste! I also got Negi Hama which is a roll with yellowtail tuna and green onions. The Negi Hama exceeded my expectations for they served eight rather large pieces in comparison to other places for about $5. My one main issue is that I wasn't full and had to order Zaru soba afterwards as well. I did like how the soba came with lots of cucumber and found that really refreshing though the dipping sauce seemed a bit too sweet.

Strip malls suck. Good sushi rules. Good sushi trumps shitty strip malls. The menu is huge. Intimidating even. But I've never left bummed by anything I've ate here. I'm certain this is the best sushi in Eugene. Best I've had anyhow. Ninkasi is available too!

I'm really surprised this place has received such mixed reviews. For our first Eugene sushi venture, I scoured the reviews and decided on Shiki. When I called, I discovered their number had been disconnected. Perhaps someone can confirm they've closed? At any rate, warily, we decided to try Sushi Domo, since it wasn't too far away. We were stoked. The sushi menu was really impressive. We ordered a a sashimi plate and several roles. Everything tasted fresh and clean. The house salad I had wasn't terribly impressive (mostly iceberg lettuce), but the ginger dressing was tasty. The Dynamite Roll was especially indulgent--the entire roll was tempura fried. I can't speak for the rest of the menu, which seems to be what has received the most criticism. That and the service, but our service was fine. Don't be afraid to try this place :-)

"Service to befit a trashy strip mall" Their "Volcano" roll is a delight and they do an excellent job with spicy tuna. You'll be safe with the basic rolls too. Domo's nigiri is fresh, though in smallish portions; same for the sashimi. They're fine, but usually I skip these and just go straight for the exotic rolls. I've been going here for three years and while the sushi has been consistently good, the service has consistently been poor. I'd expect busy on a Friday but even if you show up on a Tuesday at 4:45, it'll somehow take you two hours to get through your dinner. It's not that they're rude - they're not... but they're constantly understaffed on both the wait staff and kitchen sides. Domo is not too expensive for the quality of sushi, but given the setting (it IS in a trashy strip mall) and the poor service, only rates as a fair value. Then again, if you've got a hankering for sushi and you don't mind taking some time for a meal, give it a shot.

I am so disappointed in this place. The ambiance is great but that's where the buck stops and I mean this literally. I ordered seafood yakisoba and a veggie tempura roll. Not only was there scant presence of seafood in the yakisoba (make that 1 1/2 chewy shrimps and what looked and tasted like half of a small scallop). To top that off, there was white rice underneath the soba noodles to make it seem like there was more food to the dish than there actually was. Who does that? It's not like there was a lot of sauce or anything that needed soaking up. Ug! The food was warm when I got it and lacked flavor to boot. Then there was the veggie tempura roll. I have NEVER seen a more neglected job at making a roll like this. It looked like the sushi chef just slapped it together like you would a grilled cheese sandwich. Really? I immediately called the restaurant and not 5 seconds into explaining my complaints (which I was doing very diplomatically, mind you) I was crisply cut off by the person answering the phone saying, "I'm going to have to stop you because I don't have time to talk with you right now, but we'll just take your name and number and give you a $20 credit." Hmmmm. Sounds like they are not interested in really hearing what went wrong. Despite them being busy (which I completely understand) they should make the attempt at hearing the customer out and offering some understanding of WHY it was a poor experience. I will not be recommending this place to anyone in the near future and not sure if I want to redeem my $20 credit (which supposedly expires in a month). What can I expect from a Eugene restaurant?

Some things are just relative. Like how my 6th birthday was great, but it didn't hold a candle to birthdays 8 and 9. Sushi in Roseburg is simply not an option. So when you're in Eugene for the day (after being stationed in Roseburg for 4 weeks) sushi there is pretty damn good. The people were nice, we were seated quickly and the rolls were great. Not the best I've ever had, but relatively speaking it was awesome.

Shiki was the sushi place in Eugene and since they closed I've visited other places so I thought I would try sushi domo. I have some serious food allergies and they could not deal with it at all. They couldn't tell me what was in their food and they refused to make any substitutions. The server actually told me that she couldn't communicate with the chef at all. It was impossible. So I was going to have water and sit with my husband while he ate and they had a problem with me being there and not eating. They wanted me to order something. They were beyond rude. I would never go back!!!! Gosh I miss Shiki. I love Sada's in Newport!

The only bad thing I can say about this place is that they are a little expensive. With that out of the way, the sushi I had here was absolutely fantastic, the atmosphere was good, the staff was attentive and friendly, and "large beer" is an understatement... you get a massive Sapporo in a massive mug! I will definitely be returning for a special occasion. They cater well to vegetarians... I bet even vegans could find something delicious here. I definitely reccomend making the trip out to Delta Oaks for this place!

The best sushi I have had in a long time, an I eat sushi weekly!

Sushi Domo offers the second-best sushi in Eugene - but like other Asian food in Eugene, it leaves a lot to be desired. On a strictly quality-of-food basis, I'd give Sushi Domo three stars on the Eugene scale. The fish is pretty fresh, though the portions associated with each piece of sushi are rather skimpy compared with better sushi places, and sushi is pretty basic stuff; for the most part, if the fish is okay, the sushi's okay. Sashimi is another story; the fish isn't good enough to stand alone, and now that skimpy thing begins to irritate a bit more. Still, the food is alright. Otherwise, though, Sushi Domo fails miserably to reproduce the traditional sushi experience. The atmosphere is sterile and American-feeling, the service ranges from indifferent to downright incompetent (they've gotten my order screwed up twice out of four or five visits), and in general the place does not feel Japanese in any way. Sushi Domo isn't terrible and it's affordable as sushi goes - but you get what you pay for, and what you pay for isn't much. Skip this place and head to Izumi, which is better. UPDATE: I've been back with friends a couple of times since I wrote this, and although many of the downsides persist, Sushi Domo was a bit better than I remembered...or maybe it's just been too long since I've had sushi in San Francisco, where there are actual Japanese people. Either way, one can easily do much worse when it comes to Asian food in general (or especially sushi) in Eugene. The atmosphere still sucks (it's a little better at the Southtowne location, but the waitress was insufferably rude on my single visit there) but the food is a decent value. Go to the Green Acres restaurant and share a Family Boat with some friends.

Probably just fine by Eugene standards, but I think anyone used to doing sushi in SF, Seattle, or Portland will end up let down. I did enjoy the Dynamite roll, but the top was the messy and kinda gross. Seaweed salad was served with a layer of pickles (wtf?). Edamame was oversteamed and mushy. The salmon on the Philly roll was mushy and almost like salmon skin. But I have to agree the biggest problem is the service. It's not a big place, yet with a nearly fully house on a Friday night, the staff seemed overwhelmed. Our group was 7, so after arriving we got led in to the side room only to find someone sweeping up who explained it wasn't ready yet.

I would give them 0 stars if I could due to extremely poor service. It's just NOT worth it. Staff are RUDE.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but Sushi Domo is great! Prices are decent, service is okay, food is delicious.

I really like sushi and had heard about this place and took a friend who had finished her master's degree as a treat for her. The wait was really long. I made sure to only order things with out avocado as I can't eat it and made sure to double check with the waitress. After a really long wait all my rolls came with avocado which I can not eat. The manger came over and only offered to make one of the many rolls over even after the waitress told her that I have especially ordered rolls with out it! Not only slow service, but bad customer service. I will not go back there again. I can get better sushi done right at another place, and will!

Fresh food made right in front of you, parking can be hard to find but the selection of beer and food makes up for it! Best of all you can take it to go.

Best Sushi in town! Great service friendly and clean I would tell all my friends.

I have eaten Sushi for years in various cities including LA, Chicago, SF, and I really enjoy this place. They have the traditional choices but also some creative rolls and combinations. They are popular and busy on weekends so if you want fast service show up early or late.....

After coming here a dozen times I can say this is my favorite sushi in Eugene. The fish is fresh and they clearly don't spend the profits on decor. The rolls are tight and and the service is allright. Weekend nights can get busy and I still haven't gotten used to driving to a north Eugene strip mall for good sushi, but I keep coming back until someone else does it better.

I haven't written many reviews but I did write one on sushi domo as I found it to be the best sushi in Eugene. Well has my opinion changed! The last two visits there the service was horrible and extremely slow. The last time I went I asked if we could get our food a bit quicker as I had my daughter with me and had to get her back to school. The owner yelled at me and told me if I wasn't happy I could leave. It was unbelieveable! I have never been treated like that in a restaurant. I own a business and am very considerate to others in business as I know its hard work. To be treated like this was outrageious. Sorry, but it is true. A shame!

Compared to all the other sushi places I've been one, this one offers disappointingly meager portions of fish in proportion to price. Their bentos aren't much to call home about, either. Agree w/John H. that it might be fine by Eugene standards but if you've ever had sushi in more metro or urban areas, this place won't live up to your basest standards.
(2)
Carson Y.
Kinda pricey for what they serve. It's owned by a Korean couple, but the food isn't bad.

Kami H.
The prices were fair, and the quality of fish was good. If you want excellent sushi, go to Izumi instead. The sushi at Domo was not very creative (most of it is California roll with some added fish and sauce), and the flavors were mostly mushed together. I personally like the ingredients to be tasted separately and together when you put a piece of roll into your mouth. If you like all your flavors tasted together, this is the place for you. Otherwise, go to Izumi. It's much more creative sushi.

So we have been avoiding Domo because of less then stellar reviews, but Kamatori was closed for a holiday so we gave Domo a chance... BAD MOVE. Pro: Good sushi (if you can navigate around the multitude of mayo rolls). Great Chicken katsu Con: EVERYTHING ELSE - THE SERVICE SHOULD NOT EVEN BE CONSIDERED SERVICE. 1. Waited for a table at the front register for 10 minutes while a waiter messed with the register. I assumed that there were no tables ready since he wasn't offering one to me...well not true...he finally looks up and asks if we want a table, because there are some empty ones behind the wall??????? 2. No water given.....Waitress comes and takes our order in a rush, barely has time for us even though the place is small and there were two waiters. Water is brought, but never refilled 3. the service was INSANELY SLOW. 4. They FORGOT my dinner. Actually forgot my sashimi domo plate. I guess I could have asked for it, but it took so long between getting all the other stuff for my wife and son that I just kept thinking it would come and suddenly it is 1.5 hours later and I don't them to get the $23 the plate would cost because I just want to get out of there. 5. The bill comes and MY DINNER IS ON IT?????? so what the hell is that??? - I show the bill to the other waiter (ours was too busy on the cell phone and spending 20 minutes trying to ring up the table next to us - who were also not so happy) and the guy says, oh sorry, I will take it off the bill?????? no offer of anything else (pay for drinks, dessert, DINNER) Bottom Line: I have never given a tip under 18-20%. I left 10% (I should have stiffed them since I was stiffed of my dinner) this time because I have NEVER had such bad service ANYWHERE. We will NEVER go back. STAY AWAY - give the business to Kamatori - the food is better and they actually know how to treat customers.

Our favorite sushi! I have been going here since it opened years ago, and it's still our favorite even as so many other sushi places have closed and been replaced by newcomers. The waitstaff are the only employees that ever change - the sushi chefs have all been around forever. Sushi Domo's specialty are the maki sushi rolls, especially the baked rolls. For a new customer I'd say you HAVE to try the Manhattan Roll, the Lobster Roll, the Delta Roll, the Titanic, or the Volcano Roll, probably in that order. Sushi Domo is expensive, I will grant you that, and the atmosphere isn't as fancy as some others in town. But for the same price, we've found Izumi, Mio, and Sushi Pure just don't quite leave us feeling as satisfied as we do after eating at Domo.

Best sushi I've ever had. Not to say that I'm a real experienced sushi eater, but this far surpassed anything I'd had before. We just ordered a bunch of random rolls off of the menu and couldn't have been more pleased with the results. The atmosphere is kind of weird. Instead of a fish tank there's big screen TV that plays a fish tank DVD on loop. We were even lucky enough to witness two testosterone driven males try to impress their dates by yelling insults at each other from across the restaurant. It went on so long I was surprised they didn't get up and start beating on their chests King Kong style in an attempt showcase their dominance. Go eat amazing sushi and the locals may even provide you with some entertainment for the evening.

We have been going to Domo since it first opened. Great fresh foods, always friendly staff and sushi chefs that genuinely love their jobs. Kind of funny for a place in a strip mall but you really just can't beat the food or the prices. Best Ahi Poke EVER!

Darned good for Oregon. We eat here often, and although it is located in a depressing little minimall, the food is quite good and the service is generally good. Their nabeyaki udon is better than most. Tempura: good. Sushi itself, very good. Prices: reasonable. Friendly place. Lunch can be a little slowish feeling (we always seem to come towards 2:00 when they close for lunch). They recently spiffed up the environment, including retiring their ancient TV aquarium (mercifully). In an environment where more and more Japanese and sushi places are opening, Sushi Domo is holding its own well. Recommended.

Ties with Izumi for my favorite sushi restaurant in Eugene. Pros over Izumi: has a party room that you can reserve, consistently fresh and good food. A well-kept secret.

I really wanted to like and have Sushi Domo as my favorite Japanese in town. I live fairly close, which is great. I have been eating sushi in Eugene, and many cities all over the west coast for over 15 years. I went in the first few times for sashimi bento lunch, which was great. Then started to take my wife and friends. That is when things started to get bad. Out of maybe 10 trips for dinner, we had a mistake made by the kitchen or waitress each time. The rolls are overpriced for having "krab" in most of the creative ones. What made me not want to come back anymore was getting bones in my negihama, not once, but on two separate occasions. You would be better off going to Izumi if you crave sushi in Eugene.

Oh. Em Gee. Can I just say that? Sushi Domo was awesome. The tacky strip mall location aside, it gives me everything I want and more in a sushi restaurant- fresh fish, creative rolls, reasonable pricing and customer interaction. Freaking amazing. The waitresses were attentive. The miso was salty and delicious. The dynamite roll was exactly that. My boyfriend even ventured out of his comfort zone and got the heart-attack, a combo of tuna, cream cheese and jalapenos, and SD managed to make it delicious. Kudos to Sushi Domo. I will definitely make my way to that side of town more often.

Laura H. dragged me to this place last weekend. Wow. I am not usually a sushi guy, but this stuff was delicious. I don't know how "authentic" this is--probably not very. Being brutish Americans, we passed on the nigiri and the sashimi and ordered a selection of rolls instead. Is this "innovative" sushi? I think so--the Crazy Roll contained shrimp, crab, avocado, asparagus, and coconut, and was served with three different sauces: ponzu, unagi sauce, and another that I don't quite recall. The "Volcano" was a mountain of California rolls covered in a "sauce" (lava?) of tuna sashimi, smelt roe, and bits of tempura batter. Also had was a roll containing saba, and a vegetarian roll that concealed a very hot pepper. Prices were incredibly affordable and the atmosphere was cozy. I'd definitely go back.

we recently moved to eugene and are happy to have found sushi domo. we're not sushi experts but everything we've had has been fresh and tasty. the only drawback is that it seems that what you can get depends on who you talk to. some servers will let you customize (like making riceless rolls) and others won't. when we have problems we usually ask to talk to a different server or have them check with the chef and then its not an issue.

I'm giving this place 5 stars because the sushi menu is really quite impressive & you would never think to go there otherwise--it's out in weird Goodpastureland in some dilapidated strip mall. I didn't try the main dishes because I was so overwhelmed with having to choose which rolls I wanted. Most typical sushi places will have a bunch of rolls consisting of some combination of the following: avacado, cream cheese, cucumber, tempura shrimp, crab salad, eel, tuna, yellow tail, salmon roe. And that's it. Domo is a totally different story. They put things in their rolls that I've never seen (nor would have ever thought would be found in sushi): tempura coconut, asparagus, broccoli, cilantro, etc. It's nuts. And they pay more attention to sauce accompaniment than any other sushi place I've been to. Sushi Domo surprised the hell out of me so much that it knocked Mio Sushi (Portland) out of my illustrious "2nd favorite restaurant to get me some catipillar roll" ranking (Takahashi on 103rd & Holgate is still in 1st). In conclusion: go.

It is a little spendy so we can't eat too often but it is THE best sushi in Eugene. If the Delta location isn't too nice due to the strip mall try their new location in S Eugene. It is a much nicer location.

First off, the sushi was good. A great selection, unique rolls, and everything was fresh and tasty when we got it. But that was all overshadowed by potentially the worst service I've ever had in many years. Our waitress was tragic - but not just to us, to the entire place (and seemed to be running the place too!). We were seated by a host right away, and he took our drink orders. That was fine, but then she showed up and took our orders again - we noted that the other guy took a drink order (we didn't want two orders to show up), and she said rather abruptly "I'M bring your drinks though!" and slapped her chest. Uh.. ok. So she only kind of re-took the order (we were confused) and then brought the wrong stuff so we needed to re-order. Then began the long wait for our meal. We received a sunomono salad in the meantime, which I hated for the most part (seaweed and radish and some red vegetable in what's typically a cucumber-only salad). Our waitress literally sprinted between tables and the kitchen - this very loud, distracting... gallop almost. We watched her screw up every single table in the place. The people next to us received one out of two lunches. The guy had his lunch literally 10 minutes before his wife. She showed up to ask them "Can I get you anything else?" and the husband had to note "My wife's lunch perhaps". She screwed up their sake, and the husband had to teach her how to heat it up as she was apparently "way" overheating it and cooking all the alcohol out of it. And the waitress was really condescending and rude to the guy, even though he was very polite about it. Also of note, it was heated in a microwave situated directly behind my head. A table of four behind us received one meal way ahead of the rest of the table, so one poor guy sat with his food for 5-10 minutes before the rest of the table. A random bento box was carried to every single table before it found a home. A family of four was asked whether they had everything delivered to them. I couldn't hear what happened at the other two tables. And as for our table, we missed a roll entirely, and yet were billed for it. So they had to readjust our bill. We weren't offered the roll - it was just "Oh. Well, we won't charge you for that, ok?" ... obviously. So we left hungry, as the roll they missed was one of the big ones. Not to mention we were charged incorrectly for the drinks (due to their screw-up at the beginning), but we didn't realize until after we left and it really wasn't worth trying to go back. And to top it all off, there was no TP in the restrooms, at all. What I found very odd also was the fact there were two other people working in the front - and the other two didn't really seem to do much apart from seat people and bring them a bill. It all seemed like a minor tragedy, and we left over $40 poorer and not even full (we're not even big eaters). Food would be a 4/5, but service/experience definitely a 0/5. I guess that'd mean a 2/5 overall.

I have eaten sushi in SF, Portland, Seattle, DC... and I think this is great sushi. My grandmother from Japan has been making sushi for me since I was a child and this food reminds me of what she would cook up for me when I would go visit her. I was disappointed when the restaurant Shiki closed, but this place is my new spot for good Japanese food. You might not expect to find great sushi in a random strip mall like this, but I highly recommend it.

(5)Megan B.
(1)Marie F.
(4)Mel S.
I have been coming here for years and love it. The Titanic, Crazy Roll and Catapillar rolls are just a few of my favs. Man and if you love salad, try the Salmon Carpaccio salad. Omg! So good. Best place in town and I've tried almost every one.
(5)JC C.
Enjoy!
(4)Eimi Y.
Awesome food. High quality sushi and great atmosphere :)
(5)Robyn K.
Sushi Domo was my first sushi experience in Eugene. Crazy busy when we went, so service wasn't great. Lots of options, and everything we ate was great.
(3)Jennifer S.
(5)Andrew P.
(5)Jennifer J.
Good sushi at this price, do I really need to say anything else? Will be here for lunch anytime I'm in the area!
(4)Rae D.
(4)Eliza A.
(5)Ruben M.
This is the only place my wife & I go to have sushi. Great food, my favorite roll is "The Titanic"...service can be so-so, it's gotten better the last few times we've been.
(4)Becky Z.
Best sushi place in town! Hand down. Spider roll, all the veggie rolls, negi hama is delicious. They have great sake selections and prices are pretty good. I'd rather pay more for good quality fish anyways. The staff is always very friendly too. :-)
(4)Claire V.
(4)Amber A.
Really good food and really horrible service!
(3)diane z.
(5)Louie V.
Great sushi at good prices! Had my first taste of sushi here, was brought by a group of self proclaimed sushi snobs, several years have gone by and I'm still eating sushi, really like it! Would come back here again for sure!
(4)Doug D.
(2)Patrick L.
I only had the spicy chicken bento box. The serving size was great. I left feeling satisfied. The service was great. I hope to return to Eugene soon to try the sushi. An all-you-can-eat menu would be sweet!!
(4)Melanie B.
I like sushi domo because they keep things pretty traditional. Everything's fresh, and tightly rolled. They don't top everything with spicy sauces that cancel out the taste of the fish. Miso is really good. It's not very expensive either, but you still get the feeling that you're having some quality fish.
(3)H H.
(4)Geoff W.
(3)Randy B.

A bit overpriced, but you'll be pleased with the sushi lineup. The atmosphere setting could use some work.

One of my favorite places for any roll with freshwater eel. Great taste and good prices.

(4)Alicia T.
Some of the best sushi in Eugene! It does take them a while to make the sushi, but I think it is worth it.
(5)Mary C.
(3)Trimaine B.

(5)Sarah S.

So great!
(5)Julia R.
(4)Sophie G.

(4)Brieana E.

Utterly Disappointed:(
(1)Elaine L.
It's OK...I mean I have had better and it seems a little overpriced. The sashimi was really paper thin and the price was outrageous. The seaweed salad was a bit over dressed but if you like a lot of dressing and not be able to taste the seaweed then have at it. I won't be returning anytime soon
(3)Helen Y.
(3)Karyn N.
(4)Nicole B.
(2)Bonnie B.
(4)Grace C.
(4)billy r.
(4)J S.
(4)Killer S.
(3)Tanley D.
(1)Krista T.
(4)Phyllis M.
(1)Caroline R.
(5)Jessica P.
The best sushi I have had in a long time, an I eat sushi weekly!
(5)Brian E.
(3)John H.
(2)Diane G.
I would give them 0 stars if I could due to extremely poor service. It's just NOT worth it. Staff are RUDE.
(1)Heidi W.
It doesn't look like much from the outside, but Sushi Domo is great! Prices are decent, service is okay, food is delicious.
(5)Trudi S.
(2)Tech B.
Fresh food made right in front of you, parking can be hard to find but the selection of beer and food makes up for it! Best of all you can take it to go.
(5)Christina F.
Best Sushi in town! Great service friendly and clean I would tell all my friends.
(4)David B.
I have eaten Sushi for years in various cities including LA, Chicago, SF, and I really enjoy this place. They have the traditional choices but also some creative rolls and combinations. They are popular and busy on weekends so if you want fast service show up early or late.....
(4)Brad C.
(4)Pani L.
Amazing sushi. Fresh and good. Excellent pricing and great service. I have found my sushi place in Eugene.
(5)Shawn P.
Yummmmm! Can be hard to get a table, but worth the wait! Take-out is our usual choice.
(4)Holly G.
A shame!
(1)Al Y.
(2)Carson Y.
Kinda pricey for what they serve. It's owned by a Korean couple, but the food isn't bad.
(3)Kami H.
(3)Myron C.
