My daughter (teenager) wanted sushi for her birthday dinner so we came here (6 people). Service was indifferent, inattentive and slow. When the food finally came, it was OK but the courses came all at once, no order at all, and some people got their food while others had to wait a long while. The sushi was a little bland, the non-sushi dishes generally kind of mushy; but all in all edible. So I tried again recently, calling in a takeout order. I was told it would be 30 minutes. I came after 40 minutes, and waited; there was business but there were some open tables. After an hour and I had already paid (mistake) the waiter told me there were problems in the kitchen and it would be another 10 minutes. No apology, no offer of a refund. Never again, Sushi Domo.

Way to go Mr. server, for telling us that sushi domo does not actually use real lobster or any real fish for most rolls. Hmmmm...I think I would pay more for better and REAL sushi. So disappointed! I thought at least this sushi domo location would be better than the other one.

I can only speak on the sushi rolls... or should I call them rice rolls?! Remember the old Wendy's ads? When it comes to Sushi Domo's rolls the question should be, "Where's the fish?!" I would have given them a 1-star if not for the taste of the rolls being good. However, when you pay $8 for some seaweed, rice and truly essence of fish, one must simply ask why the owners feel the need to be so cheap. Raise the prices a buck a roll if that's what it's going to take to actually include identifiable fish in your rolls! Service was very friendly aside from the Asian guy working the fryer, who in our opinion was not being too friendly to the two Mexican sushi makers.

This is where my fiance and I go for special dinners, anniversaries, Valentines day- its lowly lite and romantic. Some complain that the service is slow, but, if you are there to relax and enjoy time with your partner or friends, order some drinks and apps and relax. You will enjoy it. I cannot say the same for the Green Acres location, went once and was convinced Oak street would be the only location I would patronize. I love it here!

Being I have been in the restaurant business for 19 years of my 34 years on the planet, I do understand why I was told my order would only be to go when I arrived at 9:15 and they closed at 9:30. Although, trying to convince my wife that was fine is something else. I think the thing that really bothered me the most was after my family placed the order for our to go sushi..... was when I could hear the kitchen spew vulgarities in different languages directed toward us for ordering food. Overall, I thought the food was okay. I enjoyed my dish, while my wife wasn't pleased with the "topping" on her roll. But, the food came nowhere good enough to ever want to spend my money at a restaurant where I am told I must take my food to go during business hours and then have the employees use offensive language directed towards my family and me. It is no wonder that I rarely see people in this restaurant.

The ambience of this location is far superior to the one at the end of Delta Highway, which I would only go to at lunch. In fact this is the nicest interior of any Japanese restaurant in town. They have a sit-down bar, tables and booths, including a couple of sunken booths to let you eat in a more authentically Japanese style. They do get busy at dinnertime on weekends, but this is the place to take your sweetie for a nice night out where you leave thinking you've had a nice night out. DLW usually gets a chirashi bowl. They offer Korean chirashi, aka hae dup bop, which is one of her favorite dishes. I also like the chirashi, but I have had udon soup and tonkatsu as well. The last of those is served almost bento style, with pork cut into bite-sized pieces, sauce in the center and rice and salad separate from each other. I prefer the traditional rice bowl with beaten egg on top, but if you prefer compartmentalized food, and lots do, this is a safe dish. I recommend agedashi tofu for an appetizer. Miso soup and house salad with ginger dressing are at least okay. Oddly we never order sushi rolls or nigiri at dinner. Maybe we think of them as lunch food at this point. Maybe it's that they have a Mexican sushi chef, not that there's anything wrong with that. Or maybe we're just snobs. All I know is we like coming here.

A bit spendy for Eugene, but also the best sushi in town. Can get real busy over lunch or dinner, but is worth the wait. Great chicken bowls, sashimi and sushi rolls.

I eat raw fish. Yes, I live a wild life. Even though there are no laws nor regulations on what sushi/sashimi grade fish are (that I'm aware of...and yes, you ought to look it up too), I like to take my palate to the edge and eat fish how nature intended. All I know is that fish should not smell nor taste fishy. Sushi Domo is in the South Eugene area and currently while I currently reside in Downtown, it's pretty cool to 'go out' and venture outta my hood. It's nestled close to a reputable jewelry store and I state that because going out for a romantic date, it would be ever so convenient to check out engagement rings if the date turns to be a knockout...just kidding, of course, but really the restaurant is situated by other local shops. Each visit to the establishment has been impeccable with regards to attentive service, wide selection and variety of sushi, generous portions of fish on nigiri and rotating specials. They've got enormous booths and a competitive cocktail menu. My only gripe: The presentations have always been beautiful, but the fish could be fresher (is that a word?). I'm sure there's a whole art to cutting and serving a spectacular piece of fish, or maybe there's a bit of conniving to consumers that a 3 day old raw fish is really fresh, but I don't really get that at Sushi Domo. I enjoy soft sushi rice with a hint of vinegar not the packed, chalky-like mold....since I don't eat much rice (and it's weird since I'm Asian), I want it simple and 'identifiably rice'. I still return to this restaurant because even though I'd had better sushi elsewhere, they're still pretty decent.

Went to Sushi Domo for my anniversary with my husband. We were seated fast, service was pleasant. Nothing super amazing. But the sushi?? Loved it! We tipped higher then usual just cause of how good it was.

We ordered a dish and it was supposee to be greenbeans and tofu and it was sautéed onions and fried tofu. The waitress said she would deduct half off of the dish. so what part were we going to eat, a whole onion sautéed or tofu that was fried in the deep frier with meats. the waitress knew we ordered everything vegan. will never go back. she knew it was not vegan, she sent it out anyway.

Left a bad taste on our mouths overall. A nice Korean Chirash was the only thing worth eating. We were charged $2.50 for a side of plain rice. Really? I despise deep fried sushi but apparently we ordered it by mistake. Got tempura tuna roll drowned in goo. We paid dearly for a meal that made us all surly instead of sated. Service was sympathetic and food arrived quickly. Go elsewhere if you can. The nearby supermarket has better sushi.

Please make a roll that stays together and has a bit more fish/stuff than rice, a bit on the cheap side but flavor was ok. Nice service and all was good, flavor and quality lacking, can't really place it, but I'd sum it up with a meh...flavor, lacking flavor... Ok, Udon soup was horrible, might as well be soy water with overcooked veggies, really a shame they can't flavor food well, please pay attention to your cooking!

We returned to Domo last evening (Friday @ 6:30) for dinner with high hopes that it would turn out better than last time now that they've been in business long enough to get the routine down. Sushi was pretty much like I remembered it -- it was okay. Nothing that special, satisfied a sushi craving, but no "wow" factor at all. The salad that was served with a dinner combo was really bad (iceberg and a disgusting dressing) and the miso soup was a miss as well (I make it better at home). The service this time was A LOT faster. The server gave us menus right away. Food came out in reasonable time and more or less all at once. She was more or less attentive, although didn't ever ask if we wanted more drinks, dessert, or anything else. My biggest complaint, and this isn't really with her, was that their Honey Ginger Tea ($3.00) came in a rather small mug (no teapot) and had no refills. Seemed rather chincy -- it was good tea with honey, but nothing that I'd pay 3 bucks for in the future. Green tea ($2.00) comes in a teapot and has refills. Sushi Station gives you free green tea, I believe. If we come back it is because we can walk over here in a few minutes and not bike/drive to Pure, Kamitori, or Station.

Just came away from here with spicy tuna and california rolls ( I usually order sushi to go) the place was completely vacant, which was good for me (fast service) and the one waiter was very nice. The sushi rolls were a little loose but generously filled and quite tasty, plus the prices are right on! 2 orders for about $10 is great (about 12 pcs.). Worth a try for sushi lovers, next time I'll take a friend.

Quick Summary of Sushi Domo in Southtowne Pros- +Ambient, chill atmosphere, very "homey" and "relaxed," while still a little classy +Japanese & western seating options (double plus!!) +Decent food, decent flavor (They make EXCELLENT Croquette/"Korokke") +Somewhat large selection of sushi rolls +Nice enough portions +Decent service Cons -Price (Sushi restaurants outside Japan you should expect an expense, but still $7.50+ for croquette?! Dude, it's fried up potato...mashed potato even!) -Help in splitting checks with groups (3 couples ordering separately on separate tickets, should we really expect to pay together? Why not make it simple and keep three separate bills and just tack on gratuity or not) -Nothing special // nothing stands out. -portions, while nice, you probably would want to order at least 3 menu items/person, since there is not that much in the way of ingredients in the sushi rolls. Which goes back to price, because that's at least 3 times $5/item for the cheaper items. Easily becoming $30-40+ for two people. While cute, and quaint, unless you're really craving sushi in Eugene, I can't really throw my weight behind recommending Sushi Domo. However, I can't really say it's bad either, it's just expensive for what it is, they're not super on-their-game for checks, and while I absolutely LOVED their croquette / "Korokke", I didn't enjoy any of the main menu items anywhere near as much as that.

Having been back a number of times since my first review, I no longer consider Domo a destination for sushi. They make a great seaweed salad with pickles in, and the waitstaff are always kind and helpful (note that, being an extreme introvert, I avoid peak times); on those merits alone, they deserve the third star. I also love their edamame seasoned with Shichimi. I suspect that about half of my reluctance is the result of Kamitori having spoiled me. However, it is also true that rolls at this particular Domo are not very well made - maki are often not cut all the way through, and always something on our table has embarrassingly low structural integrity. Last time, my beloved delta roll was thoroughly soaked in sauce (always sauceless in the past), and the avocado on our caterpillar was meager and brown. While these last two may have been one-off occurrences, I will stick to non-sushi menu items in the future.

Sushi Domo is one of the few places in town with a decent ambiance - its a pretty nice place to be. The food looks good too...but appearances are deceiving- the food is pretty bad- there's no other way to say it...the rice tastes old, and the spicey tuna is so bland it tastes like it was bought at a mall food court. Clearly the chef isn't a real sushi chef and the ingredients are low grade. In a town that could use a higher quality of restaurants in general, the expectations for good sushi are not very high. Sushi Domo just sank our expectations lower....

I like this place. The rolls are inventive and uncomplicated. The menu is pretty standard: bento boxes, teriyaki, rolls, hand rolls, udon, etc. Prices are decent, better than most other sushi places in town. There really isn't much to say about this place other than, it's fine. I've been here a few times since it opened this year. It seems cleaner than the other location on Green Acre. I'm not too fond of the decor of the place. It's a little too bright and loud, but that's forgivable because the food is quality. The rolls are a decent size, they're not skimping on the size -- that's for sure. There's a good selection of tempura rolls too. The service is pretty good here though I've felt neglected a few times here, but again, I don't mind since I've never in any sort of rush when I go to Sushi Domo or any other sushi place for that matter. The place is spacious. There is a variety of seating options: booths, tables, high tables and bar seats. There's a small television that faces one part of the restaurant. This is probably my go-to sushi place in town.

A fun little hideaway where I go if I'm craving good sushi and beer. Good options, a bit on the pricey side, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Not a belt style, which is nice if you're looking for a more intimate atmosphere.

While vacationing, we tried this place and left with happy, full bellies! This is nice little place, with bento boxes and almost a full bar. We were a party of 8 and had no problems being seated right away. Service was fast and friendly. The rolls were great! Give it a try, you'll like it!

If it doesn't get all over the place it doesn't belong in your face. I found tobiko in my cellphone keypad after visiting Domo last night. The thing about Domo, as far as I can tell, is that the service is easily setting the standard for the worst in the state of Oregon, possibly even the Union. You know I'm serious about this because I say this, without hesitation, after visiting Izumi Sushi, the old heavweight champion in the wicked world of sushi service in Lane County. While the food and drinks were great, the service was so bad we couldn't help but notice that every patron around us was complaining. Yes, Domo was busy, but that's not a reason to take every plate back to the kitchen, leave a mixed drink on the bar for twenty minutes, or not have a single person check in on how a meal is going. We walked in the door and stood next to the host's station waiting for the host, a waitresses, a waiter, the random Asian woman in street clothes, Jesus Christ himself, anyone willing to greet us. About seven minutes later my girlfriend politely asked if she could put our name on the wait list. Skip to the end of the meal: About five minutes after the food was presented the check was plopped on the table. When we asked for a second dish for soy sauce and wasabi, we got a small bowl. Not once did our multiple waitresses ask if we had any questions about the menu. Not once did someone stop by to see how our meal was going. About 10 times the waterboy stopped by and kept my glass full. Upgrade that dude's job responsibilities. The sushi is good. if you can find the humor in how bad the service is, you'll really enjoy your evening. I can't give it a worse grade than the three stars because I wasn't upset, just shocked and amused. Domo badly needs to prioritize the canon of HGTY. Hello, Goodbye, Thank-you. Let the customers know that you appreciate their patronage. Or don't. Just don't expect them to come back anytime soon.

Nice looking fish. Good decor It's good sushi for Eugene but the service is lacking. I suggest sitting at the bar, the Sushi Bar that is, for best service.

I always get great service at sushi places so I'm not sure why everyone else has so much trouble. Usually I show up for lunch at a sushi place right when they open. I need the whole day to digest all that raw fish. This is the second location for Sushi Domo - the Delta location has always been too dark and cave-like for lunch so this spot is a pleasure. The sashimi portion size is smaller than at other local places and It's a few dollars more. All the standard rolls are great here. I'm happy to have simple stuff W/O a lot of ponzi or funny presentation although you can get it here if you want. I had a salmon handroll that was wonderful in it's simplicity. It was just salmon, a very small bit of spicy stuff and fantastic sushi rice. I did not try any kitchen food so I can't comment.

Sushi was the best I've had in Eugene (although the competition is pretty lacking, but it was very good), rolls were huge, and the staff were great and very friendly. The tuna was fantastic, I always appreciate some good raw tuna. The wait, however, was very long. Apparently the owner's magniloquent wife showed up with a bunch of her douchebag friends and proceeded to order one roll at a time, bumping back all the customer's orders each time. This place would have gotten 5 stars, but pissing me off will cost you 2. The staff was just as frustrated as everyone trying to eat and were very apologetic, so I hold nothing against the place and will definitely return. Hopefully next time I can give the place the rating it deserves in the absence of Mrs. Sushi-Domo.

My first two visits (dinner and lunch) get 4 stars each, but my third visit, tonight's dinner only gets 2 stars because of poor service, a missing appetizer, and average sushi. LOVE: The miso soup, kim chi, combination sunomono salad, big variety of creative veggie sushi, and the fact that they made a custom roll for me (shrimp tempura added to a California roll w/ masago on top). LIKE: Futo Maki, Crop Burning and Vern Maki rolls. These are all good, not great. Not sure about the California roll because the first two times I had it there was no mayo in the crab, but tonight there was -- better without the mayo IMHO. Usually very good service, prompt & friendly (with the exception of tonight -- see more below). Nice atmosphere. Sit in the lounge if you want lower light, quieter setting. I enjoy the open feeling of sitting in the booths by the large windows. Generous portions with the dinners -- with your entree you get miso soup, a fresh green salad (not a fan of the weird pulpy dressing), rice, a few pieces of veggie sushi, and an orange slice.. DISLIKE: Didn't like the veggie yaki soba noodles at all -- it was WAY too sweet, almost syrupy, no defining flavor. I couldn't eat this, had to take it home and cook it up in a pan with soy, teriyaki and chili oil, and it was STILL too sweet. Veggie Tempura roll -- again, sauce on top was much too sweet, and I couldn't even figure out what the vegetable in the tempura was -- something sweet, mild, colorless, not very exciting. Green tea -- ridiculously small teapot, only enough for one person, flavor is kind of like smoky seaweed. Not worth the $2. TONIGHT'S SERVICE WAS BAD -- now, to be fair, it was VERY busy and our server was friendly and polite. However, we never received our appetizer (kim chi), and when the server brought our sushi she noticed this and said it would be right up, but she never came back. She did not check in even once during our meal, and after 30 minutes longer with no Kim Chi and no server, I was literally waving my arms over my head trying to get someone, anyone's, attention, so we could get our check and ask them to remove the kim chi from our bill. We were ignored for another 10 minutes. When the waitress finally came over, she remembered about the kim chi and her only response was "I guess the kitchen forgot to make it" -- no apology or anything. By this time we were in a big hurry to leave after waiting so long to get the bill, so we brought our tab to the bartender and he found our waitress and had her charge our credit card so we could get going. I normally tip a minimum of 20%, even for average service (my mom was a waitress), but tonight I left only a little over 10%. While I recognize they were busy, there just was no excuse for such poor service. I may have to get my sushi to-go from now on.

Customer for life! Can't think of a single complaint about SD except maybe the price. But hey, I would probably be skeptical of any inexpensive sushi restaurant anyway! The sushi is out of this world, the service is above average, and the now that the location on Oak Street is open, the atmosphere is much improved! I would recommend this place to anyone. Make sure you go for the specialty rolls though. This is where they blow away the competition. The Hot Cracker is killer :)

The sushi here was just okay. The main turn-off for me was their unagi sauce. It was overly sweet and gloppy. I couldn't really get past that. There are other sushi places in Eugene that are much better.

We've had sushi there many times and its always been great, but it was really disappointing tonight. The sushi rice was cold and hard,. as if it had been sitting around all day. I had a roll with tempura in it, and the tempura also was cold and hard. Not sure I'll go back again.

My two favorite sushi restaurants in town are Domo and Izumi. Izumi for the quality of the fish and the fancy/date night atmosphere and Domo for the quality of the fish and it's easy-no frills comfy place next door vibe. So imagine my surprise when I find the second Domo location with the best of both worlds! ...Or so I thought. I love the look and feel of this restaurant. The service and fish was just lacking. It's a good place and if I lived in South Eugene I would probably go here more often. But yea...meh...I've had better. And I'm so glad I live close to the Delta Domo. It's still my favorite Sushi in town!

Unfortunately, my first experience at Sushi Domo left much to be desired and I have to say that I will not be returning. It took 45 minutes before the waitress (who was also the acting manager) took our order and another hour before any food was brought to the table. I understand good sushi takes time to prepare but an hour was stretching it. Everyone at the table filled out separate order forms at the request of the waitress so that she could keep track of who would pay for what dish. This would have been fine except an extra dish that hadn't been ordered was served and charged and when the bills arrived, each one had a mistake and had to be verified which took a good portion of a half hour. The waitress had an unapologetic and clueless attitude about the whole ordeal and instead of trying to find a better way to handle her confused and angry customers, she tried to justify her actions. The sushi itself wasn't anything special. The best part of the meal was the edamame appetizer. To top the evening off, several of our dinner party wound up getting sick and spending the majority of the night in our bathrooms. Needless to say, all six of us won't be returning to Sushi Domo.

Solid, serviceable sushi. Not anywhere close to the best in town anymore (thanks, Kamitori.) but decent. Unlike their original location, you don't enter and leave with the fear that you'll be stabbed in the parking lot and left to slowly bleed to death. And, if you remember the old 3 Square you'll be amused to see that some of their high-legged chairs with the "3" logo in them are still in use. Wasn't that 2 restaurants ago? Beware anything deep fried or with a 'special sauce.' Stick with the basics. This applies in all sushi situations, but especially at Domo. They have a long list of apparently very popular rolls, most of which are extremely scary and leave you wondering just how little taste Eugene-folks have. I've eaten at both Domo locations many times over the years and I've never had fish that blew my mind. This said, I've never had anything terrible (outside of trying those abominable fried things). The place is always bumping and I've had some slow service but I'll say it has never been as bad for me personally as some of the horror stories I've read on here. Because of their high volume, they will probably be in this location forever, and that's a nice thing for the neighborhood.

I love Sushi Domo on Greenacres--so was excited to try this one out as it's close to where I work. The first time I went it was good-but the 2nd and 3rd times I went-was horrible...not tasty at all. I guess I will stick to going to the original one on greenacres.
