I haven't been into the location, but had it delivered. It was really yummy. The square pizza is definitely the way to go. Inexpensive and delicious. The garlic ranch sauce as a substitute for marinara was really good as well. And the crust was firm, but soft. I'd order from them again for sure. Also, the delivery was faster than the estimated time, which I like.

C'mon now, you know you shouldn't be expecting good pizza from this place. Its for kids' birthday parties! Its like going to the movies and expecting tasty and fair priced popcorn and snacks. This place is more of an indoor play gym and birthday palace for kids. The food is where they get ya. And I could (and probably will) copy and paste this review for the following other "Pizza Restaurants": Putters, Pappy's, Roaring Rapids.

I have only had take-out from here, but color me unimpressed. The crust is flavorless, sauce is overly sweet, toppings unexceptional. No wonder kids like it. It's simple, undemanding, predictable gut filler.

Papa's has been around since the beginning of time, so has there salad bar. This place tells you when you walk in, the owners have lost their passion for the restaurant business. It has all the makings of a good pizza joint, plenty of parking, indoor kid play area but skimpy toppings, high prices, lousy crust and a dirty/outdated dinning room, just make it a 2 star kind of place. Papa's owner, Now is the time to invest in your business or sell it to someone who will. Don't you owe the people of Eugene for supporting you all these years?

This is my favorite pizza place!!! I eat here all the time. Taco pizza is the best!!

  • Richard B.

The pizza here has taken a turn for the worse, the last one I had tasted like nothing, the cheese was like plastic, sauce bland, toppings tasteless. Aside from often getting the order wrong, I think they've changed where they get their ingredients. I think I'm done with them.

We've had Papa's pizza delivered many times and think it's pretty good. It's pretty much our go-to for pizza delivery. But it's the lunch buffet that's the star! You can help yourself to a pretty decent salad bar and half a dozen or so types of pizza by the slice. It's tasty. I don't remember what this costs, but it's not too much.

  • Lisa J.

I'm not a fan of Papa's pizza. I don't know exactly why. The pizza itself is just OK, but it's spendy. We had ordered a medium combo and it was $25. That's crazy talk. However, I love the lunch buffet. If you're on their text program, you can get a text when you can have the all you can eat pizza, salad bar & soda for $5.50. Even if it's not my fave pizza, that's an amazing deal. Papa's has been around forever and they do a lot of really nice things to help the community.

My wife ordered pizza via Papa's website. When we called 70 minutes later to see what the delay was, we were told the staff can't find our order. So there's a strong reason NOT to use the online order feature -- it's doesn't work reliably :( What a waste of time -- now we're still hungry, but wasted over an hour waiting for a non-existent pizza. And what happened to the credit card charge we authorized via Papa's website? Disappointed.

Lunch buffet? Hells to the yes. Great place to eat lunch. Bad place to meet girls. The meat lovers pizza is always a great choice-the staff keeps the place clean and Always friendly. Great for pizza parties !

Well what can you say about Papa's. I go there frequently, mostly because they have an indoor playground where the kids can run around even though it's raining out, while I can read a book and enjoy a beer. And for that, it's a fantastic place. Sadly, their pizza sucks. I mean, it's edible, but I'd say a safeway brand frozen pizza is generally better. The crust is WAY too thick, and does not have the least bit of texture. This might not be so horrible except that it is also pretty devoid of flavor. It's just a thick bland slab to hold toppings on. Then the sauce... You can watch them apply it with a paint brush. Generally way too much is put on and it's much to thick (about the consistency of tomato paste), without much flavor outside of 'sweet tomato'. The cheese generally seems ok, your generic store brand mozzarella variety. The pepperoni is generally pretty good... I hate to be harsh on them, but really, it is some of the worst pizza around. But, since they have the awesome indoor playland, they'll continue to get my money...

took a group of 12 here - and this place couldn't seem to get anything right. we ordered several pizzas and only one of them had the correct things on it - in retrospect, i also think the cooks knew they had blown it, but served the incorrect pizzas to us anyway. weak. wouldn't go back.

After an unbroken streak of messing up at least one thing in my order this year, I've finally written these guys off. I hate to do this, because everyone with whom I've interacted has been very kind and pleasant, but there's just no excuse for so many mistakes, especially when I use the online form to order. Forgetting to put on the mushrooms now and then is no big deal, but the meat?! C'mon! The penultimate interaction involved delivering a pizza that was 100% not ours. They brought us a certificate for any free pizza along with our correct order, which was nice, but my daughter had to wait over two hours to eat, what with the errant pizza not being gluten free. The last straw came today when we used the certificate. They got the sauce wrong. Sorry Papa's; you are not the only GF 'za in town anymore. I'm trading up to Pegasus.

I loathe this place. Of course, we keep returning. Our kids beg to go; our kids' friends have birthday parties here. Every time, the place seems somehow worse than before. The pizza sucks in a totally apocalyptic way -- fake cheese, overly sweet, weirdly thick sauce that probably comes from a giant can. The salad bar is so pathetic that I'm always stunned it's still there; I can't believe people pay money for the privilege of filling a chipped, dusty plate with wilted lettuce and pinkish tomatoes. There's a kids play area, and my kids actually do have fun there, but it's usually filthy. The whole place, in fact, is usually filthy, and take my advice -- do not attempt to use the restroom! Just hold it until you get somewhere less toxic.

  • Stephanie S.

This review is based solely on delivery service - I have never been in any of the stores. I was very excited they had a gluten-free crust! So that was fine. I wouldn't say it was delicious, but what gluten-free crust is?! At least I could have pizza with friends when we all order in. I would have much preferred almost any pizza compared to this, but again - they do have the gluten-free option. The thing that was most astonishing was that for two pizzas it was $46 - I'm sure there were delivery charges in there, but I do not like to be surprised at the door! That was ah-mazing. I'm from Seattle and have never paid that much for pizza. So overall, it was alright - but for the price, we won't be going back.

Good pizza place. I read about the complaints and I just can't help but think that the only pizza place in Eugene that is any good, without costing a lot, is Mezza Luna. I mean seriously this is as traditional a place to eat pizza as you'll find.

  • April H.

Great pizza and a great salad bar, their lunch buffet is a great value and yummy! Its fantastic for kids with a gigantic play structure separate from the eating area! Very family oriented, keep in mind they have a lot of birthday parties and occasions so it can get load, hectic and busy!

  • Dave B.

Great local pizza, service can be rough at times as they tend to employ a lot of teenagers... They don't skimp on toppings or sides and I have never recieved an undercooked pizza which has happened numerous times at other pizza places...

  • Toby W.

I love this Pizza...Always have! The crust is the best! Always Hot & Fresh. J Cornmeal makes it the perfect consistency, not too hard, not too soft, just right. Love the Pizza...Love the Crust! Got there to pick up my Pie and right when I was telling the dude my name and what kind I ordered, he pointed and said that one, just as it was coming out of the oven. Got home and it was Hot, Fresh, and everyone loved it.

I went here recently while in Eugene solely because the work I needed to do was just across the street; I had worked hard behind the camera yesterday and today, and I was hungry. When we walked in, nobody addressed us so we waited at the wrong counter until I noticed the "order desk" to my left. There a girl came quickly but we had to look at the menu so she left. When we did want to order, we had to wait till someone came. It was a Country Sausage and Mushroom pizza which, ten minutes later was delivered and it wasn't good. The mushroom was canned (yeck) and the pizza had strange-tasting cheese. Though the crust was crusty, the overall taste was yuck.... the men's room - I have no idea about the women's bathroom - was clean. I wouldn't return to this place nor recommend it to anyone else. The only good was a parking lot.

One of the last old school pizzerias in the city, this location of the infamous Papa's chain is a pizzeria frozen in time. The antiquated interior is eerily reminiscent of the 80s, the kind of pizza "parlor" that sponsored little league teams and kids would come to celebrate with slices of pizza. The pizza, by the way, is of the regionally distinct self-dubbed Oregon Style ( yelp.com/list/oregon-sty… ), though somewhat thicker. For what it's worth, the pizza is solid but certainly not more impressive than any other pizza spot in the Willamette Valley. The pizza has had its fair share of critics, though I wouldn't be quick to dismiss it entirely. For some folks the quality doesn't match the prices (a 16' large goes for as much as $35) but the nostalgia might end up trumping everything. While I'm aghast at the likes of the Taco Pizza ($33) or Teriyaki ($31), at least the Beaster ($35) is the perfect meat lover's pizza. The Mama's ($30) which consists of bacon, ham, lean beef, and pepperoni is not far behind. And just like Izzy's, there is an all you can eat lunch buffet which is a cool $7.75 a person. From unlimited pizza to salad and breadsticks, one can feel reassured there is even bottomless soda in the mix. This is a week day deal that happens between 11am-2pm, perfect for that pizza craving lunch crowd that doesn't feel like caving into a $10 meal. Kids have their own pizza option for $4.25, which comes with a personal sized pie, with a beverage and dessert. There's definitely better pizza options to be had in Eugene, but Papa's is not a total bust. The service is a little lackluster (read: slow) at times, though it's certainly not an end all. In true Eugene fashion, there is a separate gluten free menu and even daiya pizzas for our vegan friends. Beyond that, stay clear of that gourmet flatbread (especially that cheesy garlic ranch!), one should definitely stick to the core product at hand - the pizza.

Our family has been coming here for years. The pizza is consistently excellent! I have really never had a pizza in this town with this combination of crust, sauce, cheese mixture, etc. - it's yummy and unique and I love it. The salad bar is good and has lots of choices. The kids love the playground. It is pretty expensive, in my opinion, (today we had a medium 2 topping pizza, 2 large salad bars, and 2 soft drinks for $36.30) - but every now and then, it is great to go here and have some great pizza in a laid back, kid-friendly environment. They are also active in helping different charities raise money for events.

This is by far the worst value for the price of any restaurant I have ever eaten at. The pizza crust tastes like cardboard, you could not make sauce more bland even if you simply opened a can, the salad bar is $4 for a plate the size of a teacup saucer. And the drinks are $2 for a 10 cent child's cup (the kind most places give away for free). The children's play area has that detestable bacteria/pee smell you all parents are acquainted with if you have frequented a large daycare or nursery. This is also compounded by the fact many parents turn their hooligan like kids to run roughshod over any mild-mannered child who is taught to have a minimal amount of self control. Go somewhere else and avoid this place, I will never go there again.

In typical fashion, I'm going to rate this on what its scope is instead of what some people wish it was aiming for. Papa's focuses on families, mostly those with smaller children, hence the extensive playgrounds. They do well in this aspect, the kids love it from what I hear the little ones chirping on about. The pizza is tailored to children's tastes, sweet, little sauce and simple ingredients that don't make kids stink-face when presented with the sight. It is what it is, it's not my favorite and sometimes I really regret eating it personally but as an adult, it's not really made for me. That would be like being bitter that juice boxes are small...or too sweet. It's for those with simple tastes. I love that they do fundraisers at this location. It's absolutely amazing to give the community a way to reach out and help each other when in need. This is exactly the sort of thing the world needs and that alone gives Papa's a 5 star rating for being a great business. Check out their website when you're headed that way, see if there's anything that you can download and 50% of your tab is donated to someone within the community that needs assistance with an assortment of things from memorial funds to medical bills. The people who work here are rather happy and very efficient (I went in right at the start of a lunch rush and it was a great streamline they had going, they know how to work it!). Great for birthday parties, excellent for fundraisers. Would I go here if I was really craving pizza? No. Would I go here to let kids have some fun and have a fun family night out or in the name of charity? Absolutely.

I disagree with some of the previous reviews, stating the crust is flavorless. The crust is one of the best parts! Yes- its thicker, but this is NOT NY style pizza, if that's what you're into, go to Sy's Pizza near the University. Personally, I like a crust that can hold up its toppings. Now the sauce is really where its at! I want that recipe! Yes- it is a great place for kids birthday parties. In fact, its where I had many of my childhood parties . But at least you can rest assured that your kids are safe in the play area while you and your friends can enjoy and share a pitcher of beer, if you're so inclined. I no longer live in Eugene, but when I'm in town, I make sure to order a pizza from here for my "fix."

My husband and I drive by this restaurant numerous times and we always say we want to try it. We went in for their lunch buffet. This was probably the worst pizza buffet I've ever had. The crust was tasteless, the sauce was like tomato paste, and that salad bar lettuce was super brown and wilted. We got there as soon as they opened for lunch so everything should have been fresh and delicious. Sadly, it was not. I gave it 2 stars because the price is good BUT keep in mind, you get what you pay for.

We've not been to the actual restaurant, preferring to order-in and enjoy our pizza with a movie at home. The pizza itself is tasty but a little spendy (in our opinion), and only worthwhile if you have a coupon. Delivery is always faster than estimated, and the drivers have been professional and friendly. We are still searching for the perfect pie, and as such, we'll keep trying new places, but I have a feeling Papa's will be our safe, go-to place for a while.

Now this review is written about oh . . . 10 months late. I know, I suck. We were new to the area when we won a Splash! Bash Pizza Party 2013 contest. Our prize was a single topping LARGE pizza. We arrived, no greeting. Wasn't busy. We scanned the menu & decided on a combination. (This order had to be taken by the manager because it was a "prize pizza") We realized the prize was for a one topping, & we'd pay for the extra toppings. We ordered the pizza & 3 drinks. Found our seats & patiently waited. After waiting for some time I decided to stand up by the counter. I stood there for at least 5 minutes before someone pointed to the mini "personal" pizza on the counter as ours. I laughed, and said "No, it's supposed to be a large". Here's where we messed up, . . . we unfortunately did not bring our "congratulations" letter with us. So our son got to eat dinner :( Pretty disappointing when the manager (female dark hair August 2013) doesn't know about their own companies contests. As for the pizza . . No Bueno!! The crust is just a pre-formed frozen NIGHTMARE!! The toppings were added midway through cooking, . . . not sure what that's about. Either way it was not good. The vegetables were undercooked & cold. Cheese half melted. God, that CRUST!! EWWWWW!!! We will say the play area is cool, except it's NOT air conditioned like the rest of the restaurant. In the summer, that blows. All-in-all a bad visit. We will not return.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country.
