Love this place! best b & b ever. The house was beautiful and clean. The little things like chocolate by the bed and homemade cookies anytime on the tea tray made this our favorite place in Oregon. Not to mention the homemade granola in the morning. Amazing!

We really enjoyed our stay! Nicole, one of the owners, greeted us at the door and led us to our room ("Forget-Me-Not") on the second floor of this beautiful downtown bed and breakfast. She explained we could help ourselves to the wine and cold beer option (I had a cold beer...good on a HOT summer day). Our room was Air Conditioned (much appreciated!) and very neat and clean. The bed was very comfortable (on the firm side, which is what we prefer). Pillows were also comfortable. Breakfast the next day on the veranda was delightful. Nicole was very attentive to our special dietary needs. We highly recommend The Oval Door when you are in Eugene.

I will add to the chorus of glowing reviews. I came to Eugene to hole up and write and--oh yeah--to fish. This inn was the perfect choice. A balmy porch for an afternoon of writing. Since I left early each morning they packed an ample breakfast. And the bed was way comfy.

The Oval Door is one of the very best B&B's in Eugene - I recently stayed during a busy Oregon football weekend. Everything you would expect in a classic B&B experience are here at the Oval Door. The guest rooms are cozy and extremely comfortable. The living room area and front den are inviting and filled with good books, movies and suggestions for local venues to visit. Nicole is a gracious host and gives guests the option of coffee in their room, breakfast time as well as serves evening wine. I felt the value was outstanding and I would absolutely stay here every time I am in Eugene. I highly recommend the Oval Door.

I absolutely love the Oval Door. It is my favorite place to stay in Eugene! The owners are very welcoming and helpful. I have always had to arrive later in the evening and they are very accommodating. The rooms are all unique and really nice. Breakfast is incredible! They are both wonderful chefs and the meals are always a highlight of my visit. They offer a variety of options and are always more than happy to make adjustments to meet the needs of the guests. There are also amazing homemade cookies in a cookie jar every night!

Amazing, amazing, and did I mention AMAZING? This place was everything I'd imagined a B&B could be and more. We stayed on a Tuesday night, and got their midweek special, which includes the large bedroom, a bottle of champagne, a $50 gift certificate to a local restaurant, and access to their jacuzzi tub room for a soak. The place itself is quaint, with a small dining room downstairs as well as a living room. They also have a library with books and movies that you can borrow during your stay. Off-street parking is also a plus, and it's just a short walk to the downtown restaurants. The best part had to be the breakfast Wednesday morning. The co-owners met at culinary school, and cooked us a delicious veggie fritata with over easy eggs and fruit. This was my first B&B experience, and I left impressed.

What a wonderful place to stay! It's the nicest B &B that we've stayed at...the breakfast each day was wonderful, and my favorite dish was the California Benedict. Easy walking to the Saturday Market and many places to eat and shop.

This is a very nice B & B, run by two women who met each other at Culinary school, with that as a base, you can be assured the breakfast was excellent. The rooms are nice, well appointed. The inn was built AS a B & B, so unlike others that are generally older large homes, this is fairly modern, with a large staircase to haul your suitcase up. But it's big and wide. They still only offer "in the window" type air, but the nights are fairly cool, and the location is fairly quiet, so windows are fine. Upon arrival you sign up for your breakfast time; anywhere from 7 - 9:30 a.m. and also what time you would like your "in room" coffee, a very nice touch. Plus they do offer you the option of eating "in room". Breakfast was a wonderful dish, egg served on a tortilla with some delish beans, salsa, sour cream and avocado. My husband, who doesn't like eggs, raved! LindySez: It was a wonderful experience; but note to the innkeepers...you are in Oregon and California's Charles Shaw is not a premium wine. You need to serve local.

We stayed here on our honeymoon and were very happy with our stay. This is a great B&B, which I don't usually enjoy. The owners did an excellent job of welcoming us and making us feel comfortable right away. Nicole answered our many questions and got us where we needed to be. A mini-fridge with great beer and drinks was nice; I got to drink a cold Mirror Pond while getting ready for dinner. Coffee (excellent coffee!) delivered to our door in the morning to get ready for breakfast was a relaxing way to begin the day. Breakfast was delicious; fresh fruit, pear bread, OJ, more coffee, coconut -croissant-french-toast, and chicken apple sausage. We left satiated and pleased. We walked to Ninkasi Brewery, which was fairly close (mind the construction on the way), then back to downtown for Thai food. It was just close enough not to be too bothersome, and the walk downtown is really nice. We were able to get reservations a few days ahead and decided to try it after reading other reviews. We're glad we stayed here and highly recommend Oval Door.

One of my favorite hotels ever... the room was perfect, free beer and wine and coke in the mini fridge outside my door (seriously!), and the woman who checked me in was a level of friendliness I didn't know about until I came to the pacific northwest. BREAKFAST was the best part! Homemade granola, soy or greek yogurt, choice of egg frittata with sun dried tomatoes/gruyere or belgian waffles with blueberries, chicken apple sausage, iced tea, orange juice, coffee, homemade fruit/nut bread. Luckily I was starving when I got here (literally, I had been starving on a farm eating only lentils, salad greens and duck eggs for weeks). The other guests were somewhat shocked and simultaneously delighted to see me eat and eat and eat so much, and so quickly. "You cant weigh more than a hundred pounds," said a friendly woman at my right, "how do you eat so much?" I was at a labor camp, I replied rather truthfully. Then it turns out, this other older woman with a boboushka and thick warm accent had family in a labor camp during WWII. Oh no, my mind raced, was my comment awkward or insensitive to her? No matter, she couldnt have been too perturbed - she soonafter made a pun over sweet bread about becoming a dentist and having her roots uplifted. Awesome people! YES, STAY HERE if you are in Eugene.

We recently had the pleasure of spending the week end... The breakfast is amazing... made to order plus so much more...freshly baked quick breads..fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, fruit juice..one morning we had smoked salmon scramble the next a croissant topped with spinach Benedict...there is a wide selection of beverages available all the time from beer, wine, hot chocolate, teas etc...one day there were wonderful oatmeal cookies left out and the next delicious little cupcakes ...Fresh coffee is brought to your room each morning., if you wish... Our room ( the wild rose) was well appointed, light and rather large.a nice sized bathroom . A very comfortable stay. The owners were very welcoming and efficient.. A lot of attention to detail. The price was reasonable also. We will look forward to returning.

My daughter and I stayed at the Oval Door last week while visiting colleges in the area. It was very homey and comfortable. They have all the amenities from home (and then some!). Wine, beer, soda, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and yummy cookies are all available at any time. The room and bathroom were large and there was a big jacuzzi tub in the bathroom (along with very comfy robes). The bed was so comfortable and it was quiet (although they put out earplugs if needed). Breakfast was a choice of savory or sweet crepes....we both chose savory (spinach, ham, eggs) and also had yogurt with fresh fruit and granola along with homemade zucchini bread. Everything was delicious. If my daughter goes to the University of Portland, the Oval Door will be our place to stay during visits! By the way, we ate at the Vintage Restaurant a few blocks away. Cute little place, the food was good, and it was Boozeday Tuesday (half off cocktails)!

This is a nice place to stay. Not the nicest B&B I've visited, but a comfortable inn that has some great features. Breakfast was really good, and I was very full. I had an asparagus, feta, and corn omelette which came with three slices of chicken apple sausage, a light and flaky biscuit, and a nice bowl of mixed fruit. There was also homemade granola and yogurt if you desired, as well as juice, coffe, and tea. I tend to like whole grain biscuits better, but I'm sure most people would love the one they baked. It was almost like cake...it was so light! My mom and I stayed in the room with two twin beds, for $85/night. A great deal, and much less than the hotels in the area. There was a tv in the room (which we didn't watch), robes, fluffy towels, and an air conditioning unit that kept the window open so we woke up at 2:30 am to some noisy drunk college kids outside. But it's Eugene, of course.... My only "complaint," if you can call it that, is that it would be nice if they used a better brand of shampoo. Next time I'll bring my own because it was reminiscent of Breck. I like that they're using refillable containers, though. There is a tub room where you can lock yourself in, take a jacuzzi bath, and indulge in lots of bath products. Each floor has a little mini bar on the landing. Water, tea, hot chocolate, soda (Coke and Diet Coke), beer, and wine, and homemade oatmeal cookies that were crispy and yummy. In room coffee before breakfast, delivered to your room, if you want. What is up with the Charles Shaw wine, though? Ugh. If it had been a local variety I might have been tempted to imbibe, but really...I wouldn't touch that $2 stuff even in desperation!! The office has books, games, and a computer you can use. I'd go back, for sure, as the breakfast was tasty, the room was comfortable, and the hosts were nice. But I won't be drinking that wine!!

I just stayed at the Oval Door over labor day weekend after driving up the oregon coast and then into Eugene. We had no plans, so when we got into Eugene I started looking on Yelp for a cute place to stay in the heart of the town. I came upon the Oval Door and called immediately after looking pictures and seeing where it was on the map. Melissa was very friendly on the phone so we decided to come check out the two rooms that were available. We were greeted and given a tour of the house, which was adorable. I had never stayed at a B&B before, but after this experience, I would love to stay at more. The room that we chose was the sweet rose room with two beds and a bathroom, which suited us just fine. There was cable TV, a desk which had two postcards stamped for you to send out to family, air conditioning, and a ceiling fan. In the hallway where the bedrooms were located, there was a desk where you can write on a dry erase board the time that you would like to be served breakfast in the dining room, and a separate board to write the time you would like to be served coffee in bed... amazing! Alongside of this was a refridgerator with complimentary wine and beer. Downstairs there was a library filled wall to wall with books about traveling, cooking, and so forth; along with board games and puzzles. There's a computer and printer for guests to use, and wireless connection. It was central to everything in Eugene. The breakfast was deliciously made prior to us getting on the road again the next day. I would highly recommend this B&B, would love to stay here again in the future.
