Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

I recently visited Lotus Garden for the first time in a while and found it much the same as on past visits, which is both good and bad as other reviewers have already said. The various fake meat offerings are collectively a hit-or-miss proposition. The menu describes the brown slices as "veggie beef," a label which is oxymoronic and unsatisfying as it sounds no matter what dish incorporates it, and whose corresponding product predictably resembles neither veggie nor beef. On the other hand, the vegan pot stickers are tasty enough that I don't miss the meat normally found in pot stickers, and are arguably better than traditional pork ones in part because they're made on the premises rather than taken out of a bag as at most Chinese restaurants. All the tofu-based and non-protein offerings strike me as pretty good, though. The curry tofu is a favorite and I enjoy both the flavor and texture of the mu shu tofu, which is of course a much lighter dish than the usual mu shu pork. Maybe I'm just a fan of anything containing fried cabbage, but I like this enough to leave the rice wrappers and hoisin sauce behind and just eat it on its own, or maybe with some rice. Speaking of which, the special fried rice is another item that contains fake meat but is pretty decent. Overall, Lotus Garden deserves 3.5 stars, thanks to the food the Hong brothers whip up in the kitchen, but the lousy hours and routinely indifferent service call for rounding down, not up.

Maybe my favorite vegan restaurant in Eugene. Good for lunch, dinner, or groups. Food is reliably delish, and I love not having to second-guess everything, or talk with the server who may or may not know what is in what they serve, as everything is vegan. High recommendation.

I went here a few weeks ago with my friend who might possibly love and depend on consuming meat as much as me. I came here knowing this is a vegetarian restaurant and frankly, I was rather impressed with the food. I think the one thing that bothered me was the menu. It was rather confusing and poorly written. I don't write that to be mean or anything, but the menu was just so difficult to select from because the description of the food was so broad and non classifying. It just seemed like I could get 4 different variations of brown slices and 3 variations of soy slices. How unappetizing does brown slices sound? I recommend the Special Chow Mian. Probably one of the best noodle dishes I've had in town.

Love this place! I could eat here every day!

Had the pleasure to spend a year in Eugene roughly 8 years ago and you bet I remember this great resturant. Had several dishes here and loved them. The mock meats were awesome!! I wish that every city had at least one resturant simular to Lotus Garden. Tampa wake up and lets get this in the works here. Simply good food and a nice option for those struggling with being Veg+n despite their strongest will and ethical convictions. Have read even better reviews of some newer veg. resturants in Eugene and want to visit again some day to taste them as well. Thank you Lotus Garden for the great food and ethical options.
(5)Veronica J.
I'm SO sad to see such awful reviews of this place. I wouldn't give it a full five star rating, but hello--it's mock meat heaven! I love the diner booths and cheesy landscape "paintings" that light up and play soothing nature sounds. The service was always excellent...I remember sitting with a few girlfriends well past our meal's conclusion, just chatting and sipping on tea. I recall my friends and I loving the mu shu "pork" and anything with mock chicken. Mmmmm!
(4)Laryn C.
Lotus garden is good. It's not great, but it's good. In all honestly I think it's the atmosphere that keeps me from giving it a 5-star rating. Sometimes it's hard to have a truly wonderful meal if you're sitting in flourescent lighting... But that's only if you're picky I guess! The food tasted great, and even better the next day. Go for the lunch special and you're only paying 7.50 for two meals! (if you take home leftovers). The root vegetable buns are an amazing appetizer.
(4)Sharon L.
Lotus Garden is pretty amazing, for one it's #vegan, for two it's #cheap!!!! Their lunch special chow mein is like twice the size of everywhere else I have been! and they taste just fabulous! would definitely go again!
(5)Algernon N.
The only truly vegan restaurant in Eugene, which is sort of beside the point, as the food itself is awesome regardless of the fact that it's sans meat/dairy. This is real Chinese food, not Americanized crapola, and the chefs allow the subtle flavors of the ingredients to shine without burying everything under an onslaught of sauces. Using local and natural ingredients--organic when possible--eating at Lotus Garden is one of the finest culinary joys to be found in Eugene.
(5)Nicole F.
the waiter there is very friendly and attentive. i'm not sure if he is the only server they have, but he has been the server all 5 times i've gone there. that's definitely not a bad thing, since he's really good. the food is pretty standard chinese vegan. lots of fake meats (beefs, chicken, pork). lots of tofu dishes. i like things with beancurd. they will sub beancurd in any dish for something like 50 cents. their portions are pretty big.

It's hard to believe that my love for Lotus Garden and my disappointment in the overall tone of the reviews were the factors that inspired me to log on to Yelp for the very first time 18 months ago and describe it as 'my favorite place to eat in Eugene.' How times have changed. It's still probably the best Chinese here in town, but if you've been here a while you know that says nothing. I still appreciate that they serve a strictly vegan menu, but in this category Lotus has been greatly surpassed in the last couple of years by Cornbread Cafe, Viva Vegetarian and the vegan offerings at Garbanzo Grill. It's easy to seem awesome when you're the only thing in town, but that ship has sailed. After the longest stretch of time I've gone in years without eating here, I recently got a couple of my old favorite menu items for old time's sake--the Lotus Delight and the String Beans. They were both awful, and not just in the 'my taste is changing' sense, which I was kind of expecting. Like, awful, not nearly as well prepared as they used to be. One was undercooked and one was overcooked, and the taste I was expecting wasn't there. Even the fortune cookies (I have like a dozen old Lotus fortunes in my wallet that I look at time to time) were completely incomprehensible. The cookies are from Scarsdale, NY or something, so I'm not blaming the Chinese for this. I don't know what happened, but it's going to be another long while before I go back. The third star here is definitely for sentimental reasons, and because one of my favorite people in town is the friendly longtime (and often overworked) server here. Used to be my favorite, now I honestly wouldn't recommend Lotus to all but the strictest most hard-core vegan.
(3)Pani L.
My family and I ordered several dishes. The spicy eggplant in brown sauce was the best dish we ordered. Hands down the best eggplant dish I have had. The second best dish was the Mu Shu Soy Strips. The dish was well seasoned and had a nice balance of vegetables. The dish that came in third was the Kung Po Wheat Meat. The dish was marked as spicy, and sometimes I know my ability to take spice is high (me likey da ghost peppers) but it wasn't spicy not even for the spice wimp in our group. The tie for aw man why does this have to suck, it could've been so good goes to the Sweet and Sour Balls and the Hot and Spicy Soup. First the balls, a whole lot of fried bland slathered with overly sweet not enough sour sauce. The soup wasn't spicy, it had a nice mix of veg, but no spice. So sad. The service was gracious and attentive without crossing the line into hoovering. The kitchen was immaculate and if you sit in the right spot you can watch them prepare your food.

Awesome vegetarian food! I am not a vegetarian and still eat here because it is probably the best "Chinese" food in Eugene.
(5)Amy K.
Lotus Garden serves some of the tastiest Chinese-themed food in Eugene; it's just a bonus for me that everything on the menu is vegetarian. I've taken meat-eaters here who have been surprised to thoroughly enjoy their meals. I've loved and devoured everything I've ever tasted here, but my favorite things are the potstickers, the mu shu, and the Szechuan brown slices.
(5)Lea D.
cute little restaurant with a peaceful atmosphere. definitely eat here when you are in Eugene! it's delicious! we had the veggie steamed buns and the lotus pond delight. really, really good. the buns were light and filled with perfectly seasoned steamed spinach. the lotus pond delight is very tasty veggie fish with Hunan sauce. my date is a meat-eater and loved it too. the entire menu is filled with delicious vegetarian items. I'm looking forward to returning and trying some other dishes!
(5)Sarah F.
Highly recommend the (special) chow mian. Super yummy Yakisoba noodle dish. The entire restaurant is vegetarian, and the staff are all friendly. Local favorite.
(5)Ryn B.
Disclaimer: I've only had the vegetable fried rice; I'm not a vegetarian. However, I've had it three times. Like a magnet to steel, I am drawn to Americanized Chinese dishes. I get a hankering and I can't let go. These urges have led me to Lotus Garden. Once I got take out; the other times I sat down for lunch. Friendly, although distant, servers - nothing to complain about. Standard tea is served. The wait time hasn't been anything to complain about - maybe 20 minutes. I get a heaping plate of steaming brownish rice. The vegetables are not an afterthought here, as they are at many places. They're perky, not weighed down by mysterious brown sauce. There's enough to make me believe it's a "veggie" fried rice. The rice - well, the quality of the rice varies. The first time, I was in heaven. The second time, it tasted burnt but I powered through and shoveled it on down. The third time, it was actually somewhat burnt - I crunched through stiff clumps - but the flavor was there. My overall impression? Although this place has the potential to disappoint, it refuses to give into the gross Chinese food tropes of so many other local restaurants. I can FEEL that the food hasn't been bathing in grease or fat. The tables and walls and even the floors are clean, to the eye. The menu hosts typical dishes adapted to vegan/vegetarian preferences. I was quite happy with my experience. Give it a try, at least as an alternative to the indigestion-spurring, overpriced bits of starch and protein other places in town serve.
(4)Katrina D.
Loved the food and the server was very nice and accomidating, even though he was the only one serving a full restaurant.
(5)CJ H.
The owners provide quality and fresh ingredients. How to identify? You may try their "Spring Rolls", "Wonton Soup", "Dry Sauteed String Beans" , "Eggplant with Special Sauce" and "Fresh Nappa with Golden Bean Curd". They are healthy and delicious Chinese food!
(5)Michael D.
Totally terrific vegetarian menu. Very peaceful and clean atmosphere. Super affordable. A wonderful place for a relaxing, healthy and very good lunch.
(4)Joel B.
I give Lotus Garden a 5/5, affordable vegetarian/vegan Chinese food downtown. Can vouch for the Pot Stickers and Curry Tofu, well done. Friendly service.
(5)R T.
Very good yummy vegetarian food for the price, feed two for under $20.00 Cute cub waiter as well...
(4)Lisa C.
Since I have been doing this liver cleanse I have really found some fantastic all veg restaurants and this is another one. I got the szechuan broccoli tofu, or something like that. It was quite tasty and they also had brown rice to offer, so that was an added bonus!
(4)Theron R.
Great, authentic chinese. All vegan, great for everyone. Service can be sketchy at times, as they generally only have one waitstaff at a time for the whole restaurant, and the stress of being busy can show. I highly recommend the Broccoli Brown (beef-like) Slices and the Sweet-and-Sour Nuggets.
(4)Aly S.
All of their menu items are vegetarian, which is fantastic for a lifelong vegetarian such as myself. You can actually look at the menu and order anything you want, wow!! It may sound weird but for us vegetarians we usually have to skim over the menu and order anything that isn't vegetarian, even if it isn't exactly what we wanted. Anyways, the food is amazing. Their sweet and sour pork (vegetarian pork, I might add) is incredible, I could eat plates of it. The atmosphere is a bit harsh, with florescent lights and lots of homeless people hanging around out front, but the food and menu are so damn good its worth it.
(5)Heather S.
I would have loved this place even more if I was still a vegetarian. Luckily ten years of that diet has given me the knowledge of what kinds of things are good to order when you visit Lotus Garden. We had the hot and sour soup to start and were very impressed. The broth was rich and tangy and loaded with lily, mushrooms, egg, and tofu. I like mine a bit more peppery but was grateful their was less spicy because my toddler loved it the way it was. For the entree, I enjoyed their version of moo shu pork. It was awesome, far better than the meaty version in other restaurants. It had a smoky flavor and wasn't the least bit oily. It was served with those little pancakes and bean paste so I could roll my own tasty packages. My husband ordered a vegetable dish with white sauce and fake shrimp. It was really bland but it was supposed to be so this is not a complaint. The vegetables were crisp and tasty. I didn't care much for the fake shrimp but that's because I like mine real these days. Parent's Note: High chairs and baby friendly servers available. They will bring your little one her own plate and drink with a straw in it. Sit by the fountain in the back for added entertainment value.
(4)Trin F.
Was pretty good. MSG is not my friend, but I still had options. I was forewarned to stick to veggies and tofu, and avoid the (plentiful and admittedly yummy-looking) mockmeats. I was very happy with my sweet & sour tofu. Very pineapple-y. The won-ton soup my family shared was SO good. The vegan fortune cookies were a big hit with my fam!
(3)Hailee B.
Pretty good, we came in a hour and a half before they closed, they had a new waitress who obviously this was her first time, didnt know how to do things, and didnt know the menu, It took maybe 40 minutes to order, but the food was pretty good, had the steamed buns and lo mein.
(4)Sidney G.
I have two words for you: vegan shrimp! So yummy! The vegetable steamed buns were full of greens and mushrooms, so delicious! We had the lotus pond (fish) and the wheat gluten with vegetables, both were unbelievably delicious! Great service too! Can't wait to bring my non vegan family here for a mind blowing experience!
(5)Quincy W.
My favorite Chinese restaurant in Eugene! Try the pot stickers, sweet and sour chicken, and the hot and sour soup! Everything tastes fresh and the restaurant is always extremely clean.
(5)Fanele B.
Lotus garden is great to satisfy that Asian food craving without having to worry about the use of animal products as they are fully vegan. The food is amazing! Very well cooked. I eat a lot of tofu and I must say that they really know how to do their tofu, some places I've found don't marinate it properly or something but it's perfect here! Also very relaxing atmosphere and friendly service. Did I mention affordable?
(4)Shane S.
Lotus Garden is where to go for all vegan Chinese food in Eugene. Super crowded during lunch time when we went here as there is a lunch special during the week. We had: Kung Pao Tempeh (tempeh and veggies in a spicy flavorful brown sauce) Long Life Veggies (a plethora of veggies) brown rice and stir fried rice (each dish comes w/ rice) Both were hearty portions and my friend brought her own container to take some home. I'm pretty particular about my tempeh and will sometimes opt to order tofu instead when dining out. I took the server's suggestion though to try the Kung Pao Tempeh and he was right! Lotus Garden does it right and it is flavorful here. Be sure to save room for desert as the two different kinds of mochi that we tried were excellent! If you have never had mochi before this a great place to try it!
(5)José C.
It was much better than I expected. Will definitely come back. The pot stickers were delicious. They have mock shrimp and fish. I wasn't super thrilled with the mock meats but the food was overall good. Everything on the menu is vegan
(4)Anne W.
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant by far anywhere. The Lotus Delight is a must try. My family goes there for special occasions as well as just for a craving and one of us always orders that dish. The staff is friendly and knows my family's favorite dishes. I have taken non-vegetarian and they have loved it and gone back. Not just for vegetarians, however you know you are safe to eat everything there as a vegetarian. Highly recommend Lotus Garden.
(5)Lauren C.
I love this place. Everything is vegan. I like the sweat and sour nugget and eggplant dishes. I've had a lot of their stuff and always enjoy it.
(5)Abe N.
I have recently moved back to the Eugene area, with a vegan girlfriend in tow, and have been looking forward to showing her all of the vegan options in town. First stop: Lotus Garden! It took an hour after ordering for the soup to arrive. The place was moderately busy but not slammed. We were seated in the front corner, and the servers somehow managed to never even walk by our table to freshen the water or let us know what was going on. Pizza Pipeline slices were looking really good at about minute 55. Soup arrives, server drops it and bails after muttering "sorry for the wait" under his breath. Come on guys! This gal followed me from Portland, and part of my sales job was the great, healthy food scene in Eugene! 4 stars for the food, it's vegan, it's Chinese. It was robustly overshadowed by the terrible horrible no-good very bad service.
(2)Bob F.
Ive been going here for years and have had nearly everything on the menu, I especially loved this place way back when I first went vegetarian. If you want american style/mandarin Chinese food that happens to also be vegan this is your place. Lots of cool Mock Meat dishes even fake shrimp. PROS: Vegan (and a great place to fool non vegans), Relatively affordable, Quick, Vegan Fried Rice, Open to substitutions & additions, The main waiter is awesome. CONS: Mostly fried food & Sweet cornstarchy sauces (although for some people thats a pro:) Their sauces are pretty good despite the sweetness, mostly the Lotus Sauce (the dishes that say: in sweet & spicy sauce) The brown ginger sauce, and the miso style sauce thats in the chow mein & twice cooked soy slices. The lemongrass & clear ginger sauce aren't bad either. I would however recommend avoiding the sweet & sour sauce, the "brown sauce". But the great part about that is you can sub one kind of sauce for another on almost any dish! Must Have Dishes: Lotus Delight (Their signature dish), Their chow mains, Twice cooked soy slices, Their Bean Curd dishes and their wheat gluten dishes. Also the S&S Nugget (chicken balls), S&S Jade delight (Battered veggie shrimp) if you sub out the sweet & sour sauce. Dishes to Avoid: Any dish with their "brown sauce" or sweet & sour, Any of their tofu dishes (they haven't mastered their marinating and cooking of tofu, fried and dry)
(4)Kelsey J.
I've been to lotus garden 4 times, once when I was sick and in need of a veg version of chicken noodle soup or something similar but spicy (in this case, their vegan-ized "egg" flower soup), another time on my birthday (in which case my fortune read 'the best way to stay healthy is to eat more Chinese food'... ha), and a third and forth time with non-vegan friends from out of town. Judging from these experiences, Lotus Garden is best for its soups. I was not impressed by their entrees (many of which are too salty and excessively sweet). Their soups, however, are worth the trip. Not the best go-to option for dining out with non-vegan friends, but definitely to be considered when dining out with non-vegan friends who are open to a meatless meal and are craving Chinese food. Best dishes I've tried: Seaweed tofu soup Double mushroom soup (I ordered it without oil the second time around, and preferred it that way) Steamed vegetable buns Two stars for being 100% vegan; third star is for the soups. I would give it another star if their entrees tasted fresher and contained less sugar / sodium.
(3)kara j.
really, really wonderful vegan chinese food! we were visiting from portland - which suffers from a gross lack of chinese food, let alone vegan chinese food! - and were so happy to grab lunch at lotus garden. i had the seitan/gluten in ginger sauce. it was served sliced, (seemed homemade?) and was perfectly crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside. it was served with steamed, or perhaps lightly sauteed, broccoli and carrots - i prefer to heavily fried/sauteed veg - and covered in a tangy, slightly spicy ginger sauce. my dining partner had the house special lo-mein with faux pork AND faux shrimp. it was pretty standard lo-mein, but the veggies were really fresh and wonderful and the "meats" really perfectly cooked. will definitely be on our eugene food radar in the future!
(4)Caitlin B.
100% vegan, with mock meat dishes, which is awesome. The lunch special are decently priced (6.95) and come with rice (brown or white, fried or steamed), the entree, and tea. I recommend the Lotus Delight special, which is some sort of deep fried goodness covered in a sweet n sour sauce, with veggies. The potstickers are pretty good, but a little overpriced I feel (I think 5.95 for 6). The food is tasty and all, but don't be expecting healthy food since it's vegan. Stuff is deep fried, comes with lots of sauce and all that jazz. But hey, that's why it tastes good. I would definitely recommend checking it out. A good place to go if you have a mixed veggie and non-veggie crowd since although it's vegan, I don't think meat eaters would care.
(3)Rick S.
Bottom Line - Some dishes are tasty, others are not. If you're new to this place, come in a group and order a few dishes... at least that way you'll have a better chance at finding out what's good. I'd come back, but out of the 4 dishes we previously ordered, I'd only re-order 2. I give this place 2 stars ("Meh. I've experienced better") because the entire time, I kept thinking how I wish we were at the Bamboo Garden in Seattle. We ordered the following: Lotus Pond Fish - This was probably the most flavourful of the dishes we ordered. I would have been happy if this is all we ordered. I'd definitely order this again. Spicy Eggplant - This dish is a bit oily, but it's okay. I'm not sure I'd order this again, but I would probably eat it if it were in front of me. Napa Golden Bean Curd - I liked this dish because it was mostly vegetable. The flavours aren't that pronounced, so you may need to reach for the salt. Sometimes I do like blander dishes, and this is one of those times. Sweet and Sour Balls - Ew. I would not order any of the balls. The meat substitute was really small and there was way more batter than protein. Quite frankly, it was difficult to eat this dish. I would not order it again. I'd rather have another Lotus Fish Pond. I don't recall what the individual prices were for the dishes, but our total for the 4 came to about $38.00 + 8 tip = $46.00 total for the 3 of us.
(2)Sunny D.
Pros: Vegan, lots of veggies, decent portions. Cons: packaged sauces, too salty/sweet and loaded with MSG. I would come here more often but the packaged sauces are a turn off. Took my vegan friend here who had a reaction to the MSG, they may not add any, but it is there in the mix. If this place made their own sauces out of fresh ingredients and went for FLAVOR FULL, it would be THE BOMB. Two stars for vegan 'cause I've experienced better.
(2)Evelyn C.
I love that the entire menu is vegan, great food, great service every time .
(4)KLC N.
I have been getting the lotus delight since the lotus garden opened. Love love love it! Every time I drive threw Eugene.
(5)Astrid B.
I haven't tried everything on the menu, but everything that I have tried has been great. That said: Get the Lotus Delight. It's one of my favorite things to eat, hands down. The service is always great (which is hard to come by in Eugene), you get your food super fast, and everything always tastes wonderful.
(5)Philo S.
The best thing about Lotus Garden is that you never have to worry about something being not 100% vegan. Everything on the menu is vegan and I've never had anything I didn't enjoy there. Most of the dishes are built around some sort of tofu or simulated "meat". The Veggie Hunan Fish, Sweet and Sour Shrimp, and Sichuan Tofu are my favorites. Often the veggies are only very lightly steamed and served on the side of the plate without any sauce. I usually prefer my veggies cooked a bit more and with the sauce on them. The Sichuan Tofu is perfect in this regard as the broccoli is cooked a bit more and covered with the delicious Sichuan sauce. Most of the entrees are $9.50 and are often enough for two people so it's an inexpensive place to eat.
(5)Lee W.
What happened Yelp? The food was so far from phenomenal I wonder how many people who have written reviews are friends of the owners or wait staff. I will cosign below statements and agree that the Lotus Delight is decent, but the Mu Shu dish we got was simply blase. Blase with salt, and lots of it. The waiter was very polite, and over worked, why not hire a second employee on a Friday night? Sure it's vegetarian, but that doesn't mean it's good. And why exactly do you get a honey lemon menthol cough drop from the Philippines with the bill? My fortune: The skills you have gathered will one day come in handy Your fortune: Disappointment awaits you if you expect to give 5 stars to Lotus Garden after your next visit.
(2)Dave W.
I want that! Not only do these guys do great authentic Chinese food, but it's VEGAN too! I never knew so many meat proxies existed. But they do here, and they are actually tasty! Some are so good, it is hard to order anything else, namely the Lotus Delight, and the Eggplant. Their hot and sour soup is delicious too. I am grateful this business exists in Eugene.
(5)Alasdair N.
I love this place. Even the numerous carnivores I brought here love it! Their kung pao and mushu are really nice and the vegetarian shrimp is nice. The prices are also reasonable and the service is good
(4)Michael R.
The Absolute WORST Chinese Food I have had in 56 years. Sucked Beyond Belief. Terrible Service To Boot. Eugene locals gave this dump 4 stars. Obvious brain damaging organisms in the muni water system
(1)Brad P.
I ate the Double Mushroom Tofu the other night. I'm not a big fan of Tofu, but I wanted to try this because I enjoy mushrooms. I thought this was one of the better dishes I've had at the Lotus Garden. Nice portions, the rice was a little dry, but still edible. The service was quick and prompt. There was only one other group eating when we were there. They close at 8:30, and we got there around 7:45, so I wasn't expecting it to be too busy.
(4)David S.
I had NO IDEA that vegan Chinese food could be so incredible. I tell people who hate vegetarian food to go here, it is so tasty! Being a meat eater myself, I found myself in love with their fake meats, not even knowing the difference. Try this place, you won't be disappointed.
(5)Caroline R.
Lotus Garden is pretty good... but I don't know if its the best Chinese food in town... but then again, we're in Eugene and there IS no good Chinese food unless you are lucky like me to enlist the help of a Chinese friend who also happens to cook like a pro. But all said, if you want deep-fried, sauce-drenced faux meat, then Lotus Garden is the place to go!
(3)Jando S.
Its just a shame that bigger Chinese restaurants like Lotus Garden offer such poor quality food. During my last two visits there, the food was extremely bland, dry, and lacked taste in almost every aspect. The service was kind and nice, but it wasn't enough to make up for the bad food. Their delivery is quick and the prices are very reasonable, but you can't feed this stuff to me for free. Vegetarian or not. Surprisingly I had better luck with the mock meat dishes over the actual vegetarian specialties.
(2)Antonio O.
I take my veggie friends here. Mostly so they can talk about how great it is to be able to order from a menu with no meat on it. While they talk I think about Batman and wish I brought bacon with me. Food is kinda bland but deep frying helps. Fine enough place but I wouldn't ever go unless my non bacon eating pal was hungry and whiny.
(3)Lindsey C.
I was a vegetarian for years. I'm not anymore but I still really like this place. The Lotus Delight is awesome. That fact that as a non-vegetarian I still crave this dish says something...either it's amazing or I'm crazy.
(4)Meggie W.
This was the least authentic Chinese food I think I've ever had. But regardless of that, it was pretty damn tasty. Most of the entrees seemed to contain deep-fried fake meat and a few veggies in a Chinese-esque sauce. We tried the sweet and sour nuggets (that's right, nuggets!), which was about as decent as sweet and sour anything could be. I over heard the waitress saying she thought the mu shu tofu was good, which is probably what I'll get if I go there again. Being neither a hole-in-the-wall nor a fancy Chinese restaurant, the atmosphere is an interesting one. There are Asian themed decorations on the walls, but I just couldn't help but think that I was in an office building. The walls are all painted plain white and there seems to be florescent over-head lighting. But it's clean, and that's certainly something worth mentioning. This would be a good place to go if you've got a mixed veggie/meat eating crew. And it beats Lok Yaun or Hong Kong hands down as far as American-Chinese places go.

This is by far our favorite Chinese restaurant. The menu offers a wide variety and everything we have tried so far has been delicious. The Golden Delights fried faux shrimp is my daughters favorite and the Curry Tofu is amazing! We regularly eat here and the food is always consistent and the wait staff is always friendly. The ambience is minimal and very clean. I recommend this restaurant to vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.

Hands down, my favorite restaurant in Eugene right now. I love that everything on the menu is vegan, so I don't have to play 20 questions about ingredients of each dish. My favorite items here are the Lotus Delight(with no spice because I'm a wimp), and the long life vegetables. I have enjoyed everything Ive tried except for the veggie shrimp, I found the texture too weird. The service is almost always fantastic! I say almost always because there was one time a younger girl waitress was very rude to my friends and I, and the whole experience was awful! However, the server Eric who works there is fabulous and now I just know to only go on the days he works or get takeout the other days, because I won't risk another interaction with her. I'm still giving 5 stars because the food is excellent, the service is usually excellent, and I've only had the one bad experience out of all the times I've been here(which has been a lot!) Oh, one thing that kinda stinks is the hours. They are closed Sundays and Mondays, and also close for two hours on most days from 2:30-4:30.
