Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

I have been a customer for 25 years and have only had great experiences. It was great when I was single and has been amazing with kids. Very family friendly and they will even make vegetarian dishes for my picky 12year old. They will make a great ginger beef if you ask and their vegetarian egg flower soup is great. It is one of my favorites in the Eugene area

Always great! Been going to eat here for over 15 years.

This best I way describe the food is it tastes like the place looks. It's exactly the cheap Chinese food you think it is but marginally worse. If you're looking for quantity of quality go to The Jail on Broadway.

Hong Kong is a perfect lunch place to go. Courteous staff, affordable food and delicious also. I enjoy it. Go here not expecting upscale food but enjoy it for what it is.

Super affordable, delicious and filling. Never been disappointed.

Hong Kong Restaurant has operated in Eugene for a long time, and food quality, presentation, and service have remained roughly the same. It is a good place for lunch. We tried the Mar Far Shrimp special with vegetables and soft noodles, accompanied by egg flower soup and tea, all good.

Longtime Eugene mainstay, but it's gone downhill. The last order we got there was pretty much inedible, featuring pork fried rice that was downright putrid, as in the pork was spoiled. The General [Tso's?] Chicken was as soggy as you could ever not want, though the two bites I could stomach were tasty, even if the texture was squishy instead of crispy. Don't eat here. I'd have given it one star if I hasn't enjoyed it as a kid.

People gotta understand, Chinese food is extremely diverse. To compare chinese food started by *early* Chinese immigrants versus later immigrants or even straight-up genuine from hong kong is just too narrow. In terms of chop-suey style, this place(to me) is as good as it gets. The other chop-suey place I like is in sacramento called Hong Kong Cafe... I like this place... the menu may be small, but for what they do, it rocks. This place has been there forever, they must of been doing something right.

The only thing I've had from here are the egg rolls and they were great! If you wanted something quick this is not a bad place to stop off for an order of egg rolls. They are huge and crunchy, just the way I like em'!

I had Hong Kong restaurant for the first time today, I did carry out and ordered the #6 it was good, greasy, priced right, and tasty enough for me to come back. The only thing I dislike was the chow mein, I thought it was suppose to be noodle based. And they charge extra if you order a combo plate for carry out...and they don't include the soup for carry out (charging more for less.. smh). Fried shrimp was my favorite part! I'll update as I keep coming back

I love getting the lunch specials. Apparently, the kids from nearby schools do also, since you can see them rrrrraaaaacing there for lunch, lol! If this were more of a sit down luxury place, I could see 5 stars but to be fair, due to the low budget ambience, it's a four. The food is very good. No complaints about anything! Good value & the menu is reliably good!

I usually order a combination plate to go. They package it in several of those little boxes with the wire handle. I take it home and one combination plate serves three adults or a bunch of kids. The food is consistently excellent, as good as the old fashioned American-Chinese food ever gets. Crispy where it is supposed to be, etc. This family run restaurant has been in business forever or so. Call ahead, they will have your order waiting for you when you arrive. Many people eat lunch here. The lunch specials rotate and are great!

Have ate there NUMEROUS times and the food/service is consistant. Usually have the mar far chicken and pork fried rice. Sometimes I get on the wild side and order the pork chow mein instead of the pork fried rice. Regardless, it is always great. Nice family-ran business. No, you are not paying for a glitzy atmosphere here, just an honest meal at an honest price. Great for to go, also,

So I have returned several more times since my review. I give a extra star based on the consistency of the food (always the same) and the really friendly service. The 3rd time I returned the lady knew the 2 things I had tried before. :)

Worst Chinese food I have ever had, I would rather get safeway Chinese.

This place is what it is...Good Chinese Food! Sure they may be better in San Francisco or Seattle, but this is Eugene...and Hong Kong is very good! We have been going here as a family for years! The younger guy that runs the place use to be the kid washing dishes and bussing tables. They know my Father by first name when he calls in his orders to go. There are dinners for 2, 3, or 4 that we choose from (duh, depending on how many people we have. I like to get takeout this way. There are plenty of options to choose from. They always give us extra sauce and yellow mustard as one can never have enough of that!

I went wanting and fully expecting BAD Chinese food and still ended up disappointed. The quality of the food was so sub-par that half of it went in the trash. My lasting memory of this place will be the gelatinous cube of food that plopped out of the "to go" box and retained its geometric shape on my plate for far too long.

This is the perfect place to pick up Chinese food and take home.

Got a cheapo lunch deal, pork chow mein with pan-fried noodles (75 cents extra) and deep fried shrimp with a sweet sauce. Just your typical cheap American chinese, but with a fairly limited menu (I don't think they even have General Tsao's).
