Was delicious. Sandwiches taste like they would on the east coast, where subs are prevalent and usually amazing. Ingredients are great, staff was real nice. Was a little pricy and sub was a bit thin but most likely an affect of them having the rolls shipped here from Philly and the Boars Head meat from New York, as they told me. Wish it was closer to downtown but wasn't disappointed I made the drive. Highly recommend.

I just had a Philly Cheesesteak from here, and it was great! The only one I've ever had that I might (MIGHT) say was better was in Philly. I will definitely be back to try the Chicken Parm and others.

Really good sandwiches. I wish it were in a better location, or I would go all the time. High quality ingredients, perfect bread, but a bit expensive. I get the Italian and philly. You pick your own ingredients from their extensive list.

Hoagies R Us is the best in Eugene, on top of that they use BoreHead products, which is top of the line in meats and cheeses, you must try, if you think Subway is a good sandwich wait until you try Hoagies R Us and you will convert!! Cheryle T.

The pastrami was okay. Their bread is really good, but for the price I expected twice the volume of kraut and cheese. At least the cheese steak made me feel I was getting my money's worth.

To be complimentary to the awesome staff I am awarding three stars. If the staff had been awful I would be hard pressed to award one star. Two half sandwiches and two canned drinks cost nearly $18. I expected the sandwiches to be awesome at that price. My pastrami had one thin slice of provolone and about two ounces of meat :( The hoagie roll was tasty but completely over powered the sparse ingredients. My husband had the Philly and said it was tasty though the ingredients in his were sparse as well. Boars Head meats and cheeses are impressive, let's have some on the great hoagie roll! Because the staff was friendly and I have clients who swear by this sandwich shop I will consider a second visit. Should Hoagies-R-Us perform better I will gladly update my review.

The disappointment, oh the horrible disappointment! After reeling from a long night of bad decisions and one too many drinks, I found myself waking up with that uneasy-queasy feeling of one helluva hangover. It didn't take long (about 30 seconds) before I caved into the urge to order-in something to appease the great stomach grumbling gods. I wanted to try something new, with tons of grease, and have it delivered to my door STAT. So I turned to my trusty handset and without delay searched for the elusive west coast hoagie. Now, it goes without saying that you can't really find decent east coast food (let alone say a cheesesteak) here in good ol' Eugene Oregon... but I was determined to defy the odds I tell you! So ignoring conventional logic and my better judgement I rolled the dice on a chance with this place. After all, the menu looked terrific and for the prices that they were asking I figured that the food must of epic proportions. Boy, did I gamble wrong. The sinking feeling of regret immediately took hold following my ordering call. The employee I spoke with was nice enough, but it felt like I had just been bent over the kitchen counter after she gave me the total. The hoagie itself came to fourteen dollars flat. 14$ for a foot long? Ouch. My 6oz side of cheese and broccoli soup? An additional six bucks. Double ouch. Then came the delivery fee - ringing in at a whooping six more dollars, not including tip. Somehow I completely forgot about being both hungry and hungover when I realized that my lunch, which was essentially soup and a sandwich, was going to run me well over 30 dollars. When the food finally did come, it most certainly did NOT live up to the price. The soup tasted like something condensed from a can of Campbells. Gooey in texture and stale in taste. The cheesesteak wasn't the worst thing that I've eaten (cough college cough), but with a little dedication and the right amount of creativity you could easily MacGyver yourself something comparable with a hot dog bun, some Oscar Mayher lunch meat, a few slices of Kraft Cheese, and a microwave. Not only that, but you'd save yourself twenty five bucks in the process. I hate to call this place highway robbery, but pretty much eating here is like driving down the road and picking up a hitchhiker... who turns out to be Buffalo Bill... and he just told you to put the lotion in the basket. And no, Jodie Foster doesn't save you at the end.

I went here once and have never been back since. This place is a total rip off and the greedy owner can't help but skimp on the meat.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I grew up back East and this is the real deal. They are awesome there. The bread is the right bread - most Oregonians screw that up (no offense). I recommend the turkey or the italian. The meat is great quality. It feels like you are at an East Coast deli. And they deliver. The sandwiches are worth EVERY penny. Only reason I did not give five is because I had delivery one time and they forgot the fries. :/

Wish I could give 2.5 stars. It's ok but the price you pay isn't worth what you get. $7 for a half and $11 for a whole? The sandwich is pretty tiny. I'll stick to Sub Shop. It's only $5ish for a half and $7ish for a whole. It's a much larger sandwich also. (I do not own or work for Sub Shop. Just my opinion.)

Teatering on 2.5 stars. Place is kinda run down. Prices spendy $13 for a sandwhich?? Bold move, hearing they may be going under. Okay sandwhich, took forever and service was sub par. Doubt they even saw me leave or cared. Tried it, wouldnt go back.

Found this place on yelp when we were at a baseball tourney in Eugene. Very good sandwiches. They use all natural and gluten free ingredients. Their cheese steak sandwiches are the real deal. They use boar head brand meats and cheese. I only know this because the staff was super friendly and told us all about it. A half sandwhich is aboutt the size as a subway foot long but tastes 100 times better. A little pricy, the half sandwhich was about $8 and full sandwhich about $12 but the sandwhiches are big and delicious. They also have old fashion sodas like saspirilla and cream sodas.

Good sandwich. Asked for Dijon Mustard and Mayonnaise but I don't think anything was on it. A little pricey for what you get though. I ordered from here on Yelp and did a pickup which was convenient and ready in a very timely matter. I'll gladly give them another shot and specify what I want a little better.

I really want to like this place- and to be fair, I will certainly give them another try. Today's lunch, however, left a bit to be desired. I ordered the meatball sub and fries- I probably won't do that again. The meatballs were "ok", but nothing special. The sauce had no flavor- and that was really the biggest disappointment. The fries were hard to decide on. Half of them were so hard as to be inedible. The other half that were not hard were actually quite good. If they are not freshly cut, they they are certainly better than 90% of the fries I have had in recent memory. So with all that was wrong, why will I try them again? Because I had my lunch delivered. I am guessing the experience would have been completely different had I gotten the food fresh and hot instead of cold, soggy and partially inedible.

Hey Velvet, thanks for the response. I can not lie, the sandwich I had was very very tasty! Because of your response I will be coming back for another try. I do know that the quality of ingredients make a huge difference in flavor and price. Thanks

I was a first timer the reason for 3*the sandwiches we order were great made in a timely manner . Vary fresh . The young man working there did not know how to work the redger to give change or even spell.so I asked for a writen one .could even do that .but he did make two good sandwiches.

I'm only giving this restaurant three stars because I'm disappointed that they raised their already expensive prices, higher. Don't get me wrong, the food here is absolutely delicious, and I love love love the fries. However, the prices are sooooo expensive, I can no longer afford to go there, and it disappoints me. If you have cash to blow, and you want a great meal, then this is the perfect place for you!

I ordered from them today and I think that this is the last time I will ever get food from them again. I get it can take 45 minutes to an hour to get your order but seriously I live 5 minutes away, we were having a lazy day and didnt want to go anywhere. Ordered two hot sandwiches and one cold. It took an hour and a half to get our sandwiches. The guy tells us if there is anything, like the sandwiches not being hot, they will replace them.....oooooo joy I could wait another hour and a half to eat. Guess what....cold sandwiches, screw replacing them we were hungry!!! An hour after ordering I called to find out if our food was coming. She was rather short and told me it was coming, someone ordered before us. Awesome so you couldnt call? You couldn't wait to make them until the driver was back? Overall I am really disappointed. Next time I will call dominos or Jimmy Johns

Seriously delicious!! When I came In one of the employees explained to me exactley how everything works and went through the whole menu with me. Hoagie was PERFECT

Pretty good food, however, it's pretty overpriced. They're chargin' sit down prices on these hoagies. And about that "hoagie"...the bread is basically a foot long hot dog bun...Maybe idk what an "authentic hoagie" is, but the bread was way different than the last hoagie I had (and I'm not a sheltered Eugenian either, I'm from Chicago) Regardless, it tasted good after a few bong rips, and that's all that really matters, right?........Get a Reuben; it's damn good, and one of only a few 'non-kid' items on the menu for under 10 bucks.

We go there a lot there pretty close to our house plus they give free delivery in our area. Have really good food and great customer service. I love their chicken fritter platter their barbecue sauce is the die for. all in all I would definitely eat there again. I haven't had any of their hoagies yet but I plan to soon.

Friendly and helpful atmosphere. And the sandwiches here are top notch! I love the food and the freshness and quality of the food. Be careful though, the owner won't hesitate to tell you all about the freshness of his ingredients/his quality policy/why you shouldn't eat fast food/his firefighting career/literally everything for as long as you'll let him. Again, I loved the sandwiches though so they have earned 5 stars and a return visit from me!

I was nervous walking into this place mostly because I am VERY picky about my sandwiches (VERY). I refuse to eat at subway or any other big chain sandwich places because not only are they gross but they dont use real ingredients. The atmosphere walking into this place is very welcoming and friendly. You dont feel rushed to order which is always nice. Shortly after walking in my friend and I noticed that they serve top notch meats and cheeses (boars head) for hella low prices. Props to the guy making the sandwiches that gave us a taste of cheese (its bomb btw). I opted for the Scotty - a grilled cheese of sorts with ham/chicken/cheese/tomatoes.....sounded like an odd combo but tasted AMAZING. ...hot ....perfectly crisped....and the meat was not fatty or anything. My friend got the cold turkey and cheese. He said it was very good but just needed more sauce. Minus one star because neither of us liked the tomato soup. Our meal came to 13$. The service was awesome. They are all about their customers here....it's obvious. To the dummy that said "go down the street to subway" in his review....he is SOO wrong. Give this place a try people.

I had a pastrami sandwich which was very good. My only complaint would be that the mushrooms and onions were too minced for my tastes. My partner had the meatball sandwich which she thought was yummy. For the price we thought the sandwich should have been served with fries or chips. We will go back again.

In Eugene, great sandwich shops are lacking...However, Hoagies-R-Us is a great sandy shop just down Barger next to Dari Mart. I never made it here while we lived in Eugene, and that I do regret. We had a drunken night and a greasy breakfast wasn't sounding too good as it normally does. My wife suggested HRU, and I was all over it. The shop is small, decor is some random hats really. They do have a complimentary Xbox 360 that a few kids were playing, but really nothing that would blow you away with all conisdered. What I was blown away with was the Italian sandwich I got from here as well as the quality of service/kindness from the staff. I ordered a 6" and might have got a 12" on accident, cause the sandwich was huge (I posted a pic). Boars Head was advertised in a few different places, turns out that is the meats and cheeses they use. Topped with lettuce, onion, olives, mushrooms, and tomato...splashed with some balsalmic vinaigrette, and a hint of pepper, this turned out to be a great sandwich. The bread was soft, yet the outside was tough providing a "'backbone" to the sub-style meal. While eating, an older gentleman who worked there spoke to us about how they will "buy your food back" if you dont think that's how your sandwich should taste. He harped on the importance to him that if you are buying it, you should like it, and if you dont, they'll do something else for you. I thought he was a nice guy and admired him for being so pro-consumer, which really lacks in most towns you visit. For Hoagies-R-Us, I'm dishing out 5 stars as a great Sandwich Deli for the Eugene area...price, quality, service, portions, all were on point. I will be hitting this up each time Im down.

This is as close to an East Coast deli as we've got in Eugene. Really great sandwiches and the service is super friendly. Everything is fresh and ingredients are high-quality. I used to live nearby (and never would have found it otherwise), but even after moving to the other side of town, I get Hoagies-R-Us cravings and make the drive.

Yesterday we stopped at a Deli for lunch. We were blown away by how fabulous the Philly-Steak-n-Cheese sandwiches were. The steak was tender and perfectly and correctly cooked. They are served on hoagie rolls flown in from Philadelphia....the only way to go. Their made from scratch cheese cake was a little slice of heaven. A big plus was their rest rooms, as well as the restaurant, were both spotless. We give this deli five stars and highly recommend it. Do yourself a favor and stop by for a sandwich. It was a chilly, sometimes-rainy late winter/early spring Saturday. My husband and I had ventured from Salem to Corvallis to hit the Indoor Winter (Farmer's) Market, and decided what the hell we'd head down to Eugene to poke around. We needed fuel for our adventures. Sandwiches. Sub sandwiches. And not those things sold by Subway -- don't get me wrong, those are good, but we needed something with more SUBstance and might! Grabbing the iPhone I searched for "best sub sandwiches in Eugene." The pickings were few; few places even came up. But reviews suggested that Hoagies-R-Us, despite a positively horrible name, might just satisfy our need. And, we happened to be at Jerry's scoping out some spring home improvement projects, and it was nearby. Pulling up I was pleased to see they use Boar's Head meats and cheeses. YUM. While sometimes deli meat will go old in our house, it NEVER does if it's Boar's Head (which our south Fred Meyer carries). We entered a pretty basic, boring, nondescript spot in an oddly placed mini-strip mall. Immediately we were met by two smiling young faces, with somewhat formal but attentive welcomes and the passing of a menu. LOTS of options on the menu. 27 sandwiches, which you can customize with condiments and fixings, or you can just design your own. I ordered the Italian (papperoni, capocollo and dry wine salami) with provolone, and my husband had the Ham. The Cokes are large, cold and with a good mix (I hate it when a fountain drink is crappy), and the kids were REALLY busting their butts to make us happy. The plates arrived. Holy happy dance, it was a beautiful sight! The french loaf they use for bread is perfect; a bit of chew to the crust, soft on the inside, good flavor. The meats and cheese are all sliced just the right thickness so you TASTE everything that's on it. The condiments were evenly and well apportioned. NOM NOM NOM we dove in. And the kids came back to ask us if everything was alright, did we want more drink, anything else they could get us... Nothing aside from opening a location in Salem! I couldn't continued after half, but my husband conquered all of his. They were happy to wrap it up for me, and gave us refills on our drinks in to-go cups. (And mine made a great lunch the next day!) The ambiance is like your old aunt's never-remodeled kitchen, and there's a big TV in the corner with XBOX, XBOX 360 and a stack of games, so it might be a popular after school hangout, I'm not sure. Don't go for the ambiance, go for the awesome sandwiches. They aren't cheap, but the prices are in line with the quality of the items they contain. Next time I'm coming through that way and hungry, they're getting my business for sure!

The last time I had a real cheese steak was in Philadelphia in 1967. Hoagies-R-Us's are nothing at all like the real ones. It's a nice sandwich, but there's little flavor and it's dry as a bone. Maybe I'll have to go back to Phil.--and 1967?--to get a great cheesesteak. Keep trying, guys. However, service is very friendly and you get a lot of fries in one order.

We just moved to the area and stopped into Hoagies R Us instead of Subway, which is nearby. So glad we did! Our sandwiches were amazing and the ingredients were added generously, and were of much better taste and quality than anything a fast food joint has to offer - a sandwich from Subway sounds simply unappealing after our experience here. Also tried the potato salad (delicious) and cheesecake (also delicious), all of which we were told are made fresh and in the restaurant. It's a quirky little place, and the owner was there to provide us with samples of the Boar's Head meats and cheeses while welcoming us to the neighborhood and chatting with us about his business. He made the sandwiches himself and seemed very proud of his product, which is always a good sign. I am happy to support a small, local business where pride and love is evident in what they have to offer, over a chain where some stale ingredients are slapped together quickly. It might cost a little more, and it might not be quite as fast, but it's totally worth it - and it should cost more than Subway... the product is far superior (in fact so much so that it's difficult to even compare the two). Not to mention, they deliver for free in the Bethel neighborhood, which will be very convenient for us in the future.

As good a sandwich as one can find from Philadelphia to central Jersey - right here in Eugene, Oregon. Wawa style - using Amoroso rolls, and Boar's Head meats and cheeses. They layer the sandwiches *perfectly* which creates a delicious true hoagie-style sandwich. Not packed with cheap meats, but layered. My favorite sandwich shop on the west coast. And the owner looks like Santa Claus, which is cool all by itself.

Way to Expensive. Small portions. Inconsistent. Ive order a BLT 10 different times and had it come un-toasted, toasted, and grilled like a grill cheese, sometimes with 3 strips of bacon sometimes with 5. Ive ordered Milkshakes on delivery orders and they must have made the milkshake as soon as they hung up the phone because i got a cup of warm chocolate milk. I dont know who is training people down there but someone needs to. Not impressed. The only reason I gave them 15 chances to get it right is because they are the only place that delivers food were my house is besides pizza hut, dominoes, and other corporate crap food. This place should just call it quits. I think all the people giving this place such good reviews must live on a diet of ramen noodles and bread or have never been to a east coast sandwich shop or they were just born in oregon and have never left so they dont know what good food is.

Ok...I'm not sure about the best west of Philadelphia, and to be honest, I think it's the first Phili sandwich that I've had. So with all that said, great place for a quick lunch. Good quality food, locally owned and operated....and very, very tasty. We tried the Phili steak and Phili chicken...both were very good. I'd definitely come back!

Awesome little sammich shop on Barger. Both times I have been here it has been slow, and usually talk to the owner or the general manager. They are very proud to serve high quality ingredients: meats, cheese, veggies, and sauces. Which they will tell you about, which i think is a way of explaining there slightly more expensive prices. The turkey hoagie I got was delicious. I got the whole sandwich, and couldn't finish it. So at $8 bucks I got my lunch and a dinner/ snack out of it so not that bad. The whole thing from the bread, meat, to the veggies i got were super fresh, and really made a difference. They sliced the meat right in front of you which is kinda cool to watch. Last thing is this place is kinda quirky. For starters its located between a goodwill donation center, and a dairy mart. Not that horrible, just not what I would pick. Next they have a flat screen tv with an xbox hooked up to it which the manager guy was placing- not that I care was just a little funny. They also have a book shelf with what looks like old novels and stuff. Not sure what that is for but its just funny. Overall this place will make a great sammich... AWESOME philly cheese if you like that. Very homey feel inside, and great service.

Went there after they first opened. Was so excited to have something non fast foodish near our home. Well.... Let the horror story begin. First we order our sandwiches and sit to wait. The kitchen is visible from the dining area. We see an older guy walk over to the meat slicer where there is a pile of sliced meat on the cutting board, he picks up a few slices and then stuffs them in his mouth. Ummm HEALTH CODE people. My friend and I exchange terrified looks but still waited for our lunch. Next, a kid comes in and orders a milk shake. The same guy comes over scoops some ice cream into a milkshake cup, hands that off to be mixed by his counter girl... And then starts to lick the ice cream scoop. All of this behind the counter in full view of the customers!! I was so completely disgusted I will never ever go back. The worst part is that i am pretty sure this man was the owner of the restaurant.

Love supporting the local restaurant! Great sandwiches. Fresh ingredients. Super friendly and nice staff! They will make you anything you want, and do it with a smile. Feels like you are family when you walk in the door. Cannot recommend enough when you are in the mood for a good sandwich.

Was very happy when they opened this place. Close to home and the Philly Cheesesteak was great.. Talked with owner at length. The reason that it takes a little longer to get your food is the meat is cut to order. Not processed 2 weeks prior. If you want fast and cheap go to Subway. If you want the real deal...hoagies is the place!!

If you're looking for a good, unique place to get sandwiches in Eugene, this place is great! Pros: -The food is great! Wide selection. Lots of condiment choices (most for free). The bread they use is really good. I've had a number of their different sandwiches and they have all been really good. -Friendly owner runs the place. -If making condiment/topping choice is daunting, the owner is happy to help you out with suggestions, which I have found to be spot-on. -Probably the best place to get sandwiches in west Eugene. -It doesn't seem like overly slow service to me (as other reviewers have suggested), and I've been there at least 4 times. If it got real busy, I'm sure it could get pretty slow, but what else would you expect? Cons: -Has a hole-in-wall strip mall ambiance. It really reminds me of like a Teriyaki or Pho restaurant you'd find in a strip mall. (But, I like that ambiance, personally). -The food can be a little pricey, but I think you're getting what you're paying for. In summary, I'm really glad this place is in Eugene. If it wasn't, I guess the only other options would be Subway or Quizno's (borrring) that I know of. So, compared to those other options, this place is definitely 5 stars! (I would probably give it 4 stars if there were other good sandwich places in Eugene to compare it to).

This place sucks... Went there when it first open, very slow on making your sandwich and not very good and over price... So we went back 4-5mos later to give them another chance. Well they still suck, we order roast beef hot and it was cold over mayo and mustard and where's the meat, pizza philly steak hot and it was cold and where's the pizza sauce and the veggies!!! This place SUCK and OVER PRICED!!!

I got the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. It was delicious & the half portion was just the right amount & full of meat (no skimping on the good stuff!). The staff at this cute little local business were extremely friendly & asked lots of questions to make sure my order was just right (even down to the amount of ice I wanted in my drink). They were super slow at lunchtime so I got my food fast (although I have heard it takes a long time to get your food when there's a crowd). I'll definitely be back for more.

Just found this place while working nearby. They have recently opened and are turning out some really good sandwiches and amazing prices! They use only Boar's Head meats and cheeses and can tell you why it's the best. Always urging to support local businesses, I think you'll like it.

(2)Matthew B.

(2)Jackson L.

Thanks

Super awesome food from guys back east who know food done right! Must visit for east coasters seeking a decent cheesesteak.

Do yourself a favor and stop by for a great sandwich experience. You won't be sorry.

(3)Shannon K.

(5)Andrew S.
(3)Lottie P.
We go there a lot there pretty close to our house plus they give free delivery in our area. Have really good food and great customer service. I love their chicken fritter platter their barbecue sauce is the die for. all in all I would definitely eat there again. I haven't had any of their hoagies yet but I plan to soon.
(4)Daisy M.

(5)Amy K.

Tried 3 different subs and they were all amazing. Super friendly and helpful staff and high quality ingredients. They will make it any way you want it with a money back guarantee. We will definitely be back!

Great local sandwich shop. Very friendly and very good. Hoagies are fresh and delicious. Cute old man works at cashier. Bread is fresh and soft.

Awesome little place . We split the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and it was plenty. The cook/cashier was very friendly and helpful. They only use Boar's Head meat.

Missing Philly SO BADLY for 8 years. NOW we have Hoagies R Us! YEAAAA. CHEESE STEAKS, finally!! Love this place and very near me too! We'll be BACK - often! Good quality ingredients, nice staff.

(5)Vanessa P.
Amazing sandwiches.. Especially the Philly and all the meats are delicious! A little in the boonies of Eugene but so worth it:) the owner so is nice and welcoming too! A must go to if you're a sandwich lover!
(5)Nikki W.
(1)Jenni M.
Love supporting the local restaurant! Great sandwiches. Fresh ingredients. Super friendly and nice staff! They will make you anything you want, and do it with a smile. Feels like you are family when you walk in the door. Cannot recommend enough when you are in the mood for a good sandwich.
(5)Ric V.

(5)Virginia R.
(1)Heidi W.
(4)Virgil B.
Just found this place while working nearby. They have recently opened and are turning out some really good sandwiches and amazing prices! They use only Boar's Head meats and cheeses and can tell you why it's the best. Always urging to support local businesses, I think you'll like it.
