This is kinda hard to review!!! One thing though... CARNIVORES STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!! lol. I considered myself an "omnivore" so I was pretty excited reading all the reviews (lot more reviews on the other location, but I went to this one near campus) and decided to drag my bf to try it. I got the "original yumm bowl" small. It's a a bowl of brown rice with chopped tomatoes, beans, avocado, lettuce and sprinkled with the "yumm original" sauce... which taste like a combo of peanut sauce and mustard. It has a very interesting flavor. Geez I felt so healthy eating that little bowl!!! lol...The taste was ok...not great.. (maybe I was searching for meat??!! lol). I also ordered the "tempe" skewer. I'm from Indonesia and we eat tempe all the time...so I thought I gave it a try.. but YUCCCCKK!!!!... They basically marinade the tempe with lots of salty stuff and then pour supermarket brand teriyaki sauce on it. The teriyaki sauce was salty and the tempe was already salted by the marinade..so it was too much salt!!! sorry... this doesn't pass my "tempe master" inspection!!! My bf ordered the "bento" which came with jasmine rice, some kind of lightly dressed coleslaw, and a chicken skewer. There was not much on the plate for the price (I think it was 8.95?). The chicken skewer tasted slightly better than the tempe except the chicken was not too salty..but the teriyaki sauce was extremely salty. My bf ordered a bottled drink and our tab for my tiny bowl of yumm bowl, tempe skewer, bento and drink was about $18 yike!!! We thought it was an "ok" lunch... but we might not go back there again... too vegetarian for us maybe..lol!!! but overall a very interesting experience of course.

Delish! Love the yum bowl and the chicken bento they have! The yum sauce is easily one of the weirder things I have ever tasted- but darn it was good. The tum bowl is a delightful mixture of vegetables and starches covered in yum sauce- making a mouth watering combination.

If you love Yumm, you looooooooove Yumm. If not, you won't like this place. It's fast, easy, and cheap food with great flavor. I like spice, so I get the hot and jazzy, which honestly isn't' that hot! I buy the yumm sauce nowadays and make my own concoctions at home. Good seaweed and bento too.

If there is a blueprint for a conscious fast food chain, these guys have it. I've had a few things on their menu and favor the Hot and Jazzy. I love that hot salsa and Yumm! Sauce with all those toppings over fragrant rice. The Yumm! menu seems to capture what many people enjoy from simple yet delicious fast food, like sweet and savory flavors, beans and rice, and a good sauce. There is something for everyone here. I've enjoyed the selection of hearty and flavorful soups, and a variety of the bowls (which don't differ greatly). They even have beer and higher quality sodas and organic juices. I would probably give them 5 stars if more of their ingredients were organic, but I understand how it is trying to keep prices at a decent level for the consumer. And for what you get, I think they are very reasonable. The only bad experience I had was the baked tempeh on a stick. The glaze was way too salty, borderline unpalatable. But perhaps it was just a bad batch.

I usually go to the Willamette Yumm location, but I have just recently moved and started going to this location. Different crowd, but that can be expected due to it's proximity to campus. I would like there to be an outdoor seating section though. I usually get a small hot n' jazzy which fills me up. Sometimes I get the salmon burger or garlic veggie burger. Both are good, but not incredible. Though they are good alternatives if I'm not in the mood for a yumm bowl. You can get greens on the side instead of corn chips for the burgers, though for a dollar extra. Get the black sesame dressing. I really like it, even though I'm not really a sesame seed fan. The bowls can easily be made at home, but there are times when it's nice to have someone else cook, serve, and wash your dishes for you.

Cafe Yumm is one of my favorite restaurants. Its quick and reliably yummy. I actually didn't like it my first time because the sauce seemed to be too much. Since then, I order the sauce on the side with added tofu. Perhaps an acquired taste because now I love it. Not quite fast food, Cafe Yumm is along the same lines as Noodles & Co. Prices are reasonable verging on overpriced.

Loads of friends rave over this place. So I caved and gave it a shot. Now I am a self described food separatist and carnivore. So going in, I had my apprehensions of combining my rice with salsa, cheese, sauce etc etc etc. OMG the list of ingredients was immense! It was edible, but I was really not a fan of the over combining of flavors. I tend to like simple flavors. I really enjoyed the sauce on the rice however. The sauce resembles a liquefied hummus. How I love me some garbanzos! So upon subsequent visits I played with different combinations and found I really only liked the sauce with rice & cheese. I am a huge fan of chicken and rice, so I am really disappointed that they don't have a combo integrating these few ingredients with their delicious Yumm sauce. I attempted to create a rice bowl from their menu by ordering the chicken skewer (which was overly saturated with salty teriyaki sauce) a side of jasmine rice and their signature Yumm sauce on the side. While I got what I wanted, it cost me 9 effin dollars. The price for their chicken is ridiculous and seems purposeful as if they have it on the menu but don't really want you to order it. Thankfully they sell their sauce alone. I now just buy the bottle and make my own chicken and rice concoctions.

This is my favorite Cafe Yumm. But only for mostly trivial reasons like: A.) It's the newest and thus the best (for now at least) B.) It's closest to campus C.) It has a conference room, just in case my broke ass ever wants to have meeting for some dumb reason. D.) It's bigger than the other Cafe Yumms around town and everyone knows that bigger is better. If you happen to be a Cafe Yumm virgin, you should know that they specialize in tasty, quick and healthy grub. What they're really known for is their Yumm Sauce, an unattractive looking glop that tastes like garlic and tahini heaven. It's so good and addicting, in fact, that one of my classmates once dubbed it "crack sauce" and the whole class nodded in agreement. The sauce is featured in their Yumm Bowls, which are bowls of different varieties of rice and beans topped with goodies like salsa and avocado. My favorite order is a large smoky yumm bowl with a few liberal squirts of sriracha added on top for good measure. If you find yourself at Cafe Yumm for the first time, you must order a Yumm Bowl for the proper experience. For those of us who try to save a buck or two by purchasing Yumm Sauce at the grocery store and making our bowls at home, I can recommend this place because they sell giant liter bottles of the original sauce for around $12. These bottles will last way longer than the smaller jars and ends up being much cheaper in the long run!

I don't live in (or even near) Eugene so I don't frequent Cafe Yumm, but I like their bowls and my husband and I make a kickass version of them at home. In case you weren't aware, there are several knock-off recipes of the Yumm sauce on the internet, and the most accurate is the one that includes fenugreek. You are welcome.

Even my cat likes Yumm Sauce. I think the staff is very friendly and memorized my name from about day one. I went out on a limb and tried the Edamame bowl which doesn't automatically come with Yumm Sauce, it comes with a ginger miso dressing (I think it was) but that was delicious. I think the wrap-its are the best thing though. They are much easier to eat than the regular wrap.

Yummm!!! I love to order the vegan original bowl: beans, rice, salsa, tomatoes, yumm sauce and avocados. How can you go wrong with that?

Good, quick, healthy food. Was briefly stranded in the neighborhood (waiting for check-in at a motel) and looking for a place to sit, get out of the cold, and eat something warm. This place was just right. Not expensive, that curious blend of Asian and Mexican influences and whole grains that typifies the best Hippie Food, and friendly servers.

Cafe Yumm! Yummy Yumm! Best rice bowls in town! And their tofu skewers are da bomb...yumm yumm! And this location is NEVER busy, as I've been like a dozen times. Nice and helpful staff...who know what they are doing (unlike the Portland, errrrr, Beaverton location). Thanks Cafe Yumm!

Good healthy food but horribly overpriced. Buy the sauce and make the bowl yourself.

We had the bento plate with chicken, coleslaw & brown rice. We were given a choice of sauces but didn't use them because the chicken came with a sauce on it. The fowl was tough and resisted efforts to remove it from the skewer. We tried an oatmeal cookie that was a bit crunchy with ordinary flavor.

This place was raved about by so many people that I was convinced it would be amazing.... I was totally disappointed. My biggest complaint was their "wrap". A wrap should essentially be a burrito. Throw all the ingredients in a tortilla, roll it up tightly (tucking in the ends) and serve. Instead, they just took the ingredients of my bowl, put it in the tortilla and folded it in half (like a lazy quesadilla). I also thought the yum sauce was disgusting. Will not be going any where near Cafe Yumm next time I'm in Eugene.

For a fast food restaurant, this place is pretty good and healthy. There are a variety of different bowls and toppings to choose from and it's all very customizable. DON'T order the tofu though! I ordered the teriyaki tofu bowl and the tofu was too chewy and way over fried. I smushed my fork with one and it oozed oil. That was enough for me to pick the tofu off and order a side of beans to mix into my bowl instead. Also, the Yumm sauce isn't that good. Why is it so popular? I would opt for Laughing Planet over this place.

This one star review is for the sandwich prices. Not everyone wants a bowl. $ 7.00 for the bare bones Turkey sandwich, add $1 for cheese and they don't put condiments on it! Cafe Yumm, you should be ashamed. I will not patron, no matter the other menu choices.

  • Russell B.

Nearly good for you fast food of you are careful with the adds (dairy and sauce can be over half the calories in a bowl). The place is packed during weekday lunch hour, but otherwise fairly empty. The chocolate dipped cookies are a nice treat on occasion.

You can't really go wrong with an Original Yumm Bowl, but for those who want more, there are options to jazz it up. Honestly, I wasn't the biggest fan of Café Yumm the first time I tried it. I thought it was weird, but after the second attempt (much to the urging of my friends who love it) I was hooked. Now it's a must any time I am visiting Oregon. Some of my friends even make me bring them bottles of the Yumm sauce back after visiting. I like the Yumm sauce too, but not enough to purchase it. The ingredients are always fresh and I love that avocado is standard in the Yumm bowls. This is definitely the place for vegans and vegetarians, because there are so many options.

Well, being new to the area, I just want to say I am IN LOVE with this place! I heard about it for years online from friends in the area, and finally, I got to eat my first Yumm bowl. The sauce- that is where the magic is. Anyone can throw the basics into a bowl, but add that sauce, and it launches these prosaic ingredients into a whole new level of deliciousness. Overpriced? Not really, but I am used to San Francisco prices. Your mileage may vary. The BBQ tofu skewer was delicious, but the tempeh- OH, MY. Wonderful! Great texture, definitely made from soybeans, and dense without being brick-like. Best tempeh I've ever had. The teriyaki sauce is pretty good too. The SOUPS!! African Groundnut- I want to take a bath in it, it's that good. Moroccan Chickpea- delicious, rich, and spicy with a hint of sweetness. Chipotle Chili- pretty good. I'm not a chili eater, but it was very flavorful and spicy. Ginger-Garlic veggie burger- really good. I don't like veg patties that are mushroom-based, and this one is not (or it's so minor an ingredient that I can't taste them- which is GOOD). This was really, really good. I just ate the patty, as I'm trying to avoid bread, and the chips were stale. Ginger cookie dipped in chocolate- really great, and I would never know it was vegan. Well done! Been here 4 days in a row!

LOVE Cafe Yumm. It's basically a Eugene staple and for good reason. Whether you're in the mood for a bowl, wrap, sandwich or skewers, Cafe Yumm has it all. The ingredients are always fresh, delicious and feel healthy. The pricing is decent and there are so many size options so you really get to decide whether you need a snack or a huge post-workout meal. The Yumm sauce is definitely an acquired taste - I'm sure some people don't like it. But I think it's Yummy. The staff there has always been friendly and takes the time to ask how your day is going and if there's anything else they can get you. I do wish when you place an order that they'd go through ALL the toppings on a bowl so if you don't like one, you know it's there prior to eating it. For example, I just don't like tomatoes. But I'm never sure when there will be tomatoes on something or not (it's a deluxe topping - I think? I don't even know what those are...). I think that's something that is a bit unclear and could be fixed. Otherwise, I really love Cafe Yumm and always stop in when I'm in Eugene. The Edamame Bowl is the bomb!

Went here about two weeks ago and when I went to pay the total was 30 cents higher than what it had been. I think for what you get it wasn't even worth 5.95 for a medium yet alone 6.25, which is the price now. The pricing is ridiculous and I will never be back. The staff is not friendly and the bowls are very inconsistent. I won't be back.

For the longest time, I had heard nothing but how rad Cafe Yumm was from friends and co-workers. They raved about their special Yumm Bowls and "secret" Yumm Sauce, so, I decided that it was only right that I finally make the time to check out all the hype. After dance practice, I decided to bring along a girlfriend who had frequented this establishment many times. I thought it would be best to bring along someone who was quite familiar with the menu items. We decided to grab a late lunch and arrived around 3:00. The restaurant was not crowded at all which was nice, I had heard that at times it can be particularly packed. We opted for their Original Yumm Bowl with tofu (organic brown rice, black beans, mild red salsa, and Yumm Sauce) and their Fresh Green Salad with tofu and balsamic vinaigrette. The woman taking our order was particularly friendly and upon hearing that it was my first time here, asked if I cared to sample a Yumm Bowl or anything else which was very sweet. The restaurant itself is casual and comfortable with a decent selection of tables and booths spread out around the restaurant, there's a lot of natural light and some fresh plants adding some more color to the restaurant. Indie rock music was also played at an appropriate volume in the background. In terms of the food, the salad was pretty straight forward in terms of the vegetables that were featured (greens, tomato slices, carrot shreds, and red onion), the greens were fresh but the the carrot shreds were slightly dry. I would have also preferred more tomatoes seeing that only 3-4 thin slices were placed on the salad. Also, the balsamic vinaigrette was basically straight up olive oil with a few herbs... Huh? Also, I'm a tofu snob, and I was not too pleased that the tofu, actually tofu puffs, were just completely lacking in flavor... I'm all for eating tofu raw but I would prefer puffs to not taste like straight up canola oil... As for the Yumm Bowl, I have to say the Yumm Sauce is an acquired taste. You're either going to love it or not. I was not that impressed. I didn't feel like I was eating something "healthy". I'm still debating whether or not I would care to give Cafe Yumm a second chance. Maybe yes, maybe no, we shall see!

Most inconsistent cafe yumm. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. Just depends when you go.

Insanely overpriced for ingredients that aren't expensive (e.g. Rice, beans, etc.) but vegan and whole foods so I like that. Friendly workers and pretty fast.

I have only been in here a handful of times, but I am in love. I first tried Cafe Yumm when my school's law journal ordered catering (the original Yumm Bowl) for one of our meetings. Just looking at the tray of rice, beans, sauce, and cheese, I had pretty low expectations, but after one bite I was amazed. For something so simple, it was incredibly flavorful! Since trying the catering, I have stopped in to the actual restaurant a few times and tried both the Jazzy and Hot 'n' Jazzy Bowls. The Hot 'n' Jazzy is now my go-to. Has just the right amount of heat! My only complaint is the price is a bit high for the low cost of the main ingredients (i.e. rice and beans). I would nonetheless recommend stopping in to try one of their fabulous Yumm Bowls!

One of the male staff insisted on intruding into my personal space to "help" me when it was crowded and I preferred to wait. I clearly ignored him and chose not to speak to him twice, and he proceeded to call for my attention three times, fixating on me and clearly attempting to get my attention when I preferred to be ignored. I would call it harassment. Get a life and don't be obnoxious if you want business. There was no line, I wasn't confusing anyone or holding anyone up other than myself. There were two cashiers much closer to me. I'm not coming back, I can do without one more obnoxious and insecure person in my life. Learn to put the customer first, like they do in almost every other city I've ever been to, which recognizes people as individuals and not robots pretty much city-wide at every establishment. It doesn't take social skills at all to recognize that people have preferences about when and how they interact with other people. Eugene is such a sexist old-fashioned and mentally ill place to live, you see this inappropriate-type interference everywhere you go. It's not my job to make you feel at ease at your place of work by doing what you expect me to do. In fact, if it come down to these petty games I will avoid your business altogether. I don't know how you can go through your entire life completely oblivious to the needs of others. The rest of the transaction was fine though and I appreciated how the other staff handled it.

Love this food but sometimes I find my original yumm bowl with bad salsa in it, and overcooked tofu. Usually this location always somehow messes up the tofu, either burned, overcooked, or both. One time I was overcharged WAY too much, and realized later on that I gave the guy a 20 instead of a 10 and never got a receipt that day to even prove it.

I am a huge fan of Cafe Yumm. It's exciting that there is a chain, fast-ish, healthy restaurant serving vegetarian options! In Eugene, finding tempeh or tofu is not a difficult task, but I used to frequent the Beaverton Cafe Yumm location because veggie food was hard to find in my home town. Today I had the tempeh bento - my favorite. Huuuge piece of tempeh with to-die-for teriyaki sauce, brown rice, and ginger asian cabbage slaw. Yumm! 4 star review for what it is. NOT "top-quality" food, but tasty, healthy, vegetarian options are why I gave a 4-star review. It's pretty quick, and come on, they have chocolate dipped cookies...I recommend.

This place was much better than I thought it would be - I'm a little predisposed to prejudge vegetarian-oriented restaurants harshly. But really, the food was, in truth, very yummy! :)

  • Lisa C.

I really don't know what rating to give them!! The concept is so cool- I love the healthy options and fresh ingredients! But how hard is it to make a rice bowl?? I ordered a small edamame bowl with half rice and half "yumm sauce" (which is one of the most addicting substances on earth apparently.) I brought it back to my hotel and realized they had left out the salsa and the nori! 2 of the 9 ingredients! seriously? It made me sad because I am dieting and really wanted a wonderful yumm bowl. It still tasted good, but was missing some flavor it should have had. Hopefully next time will go better- I will be back.

Cafe Yumm exploded in popularity after their initial run as a small operation in the 5th St. Public Market. Its "yumm sauce" practically has a cult following among many of my friends- vegetarian/vegan and omnivores alike. I just can't hop on board. I love what Cafe Yumm is doing for the local community and the environment, I just don't much care for their food. I seem to be allergic to the Yumm sauce (tried a friend's once), and without it (apparently) the rice bowls are just ... rice bowls. I paid an extra $2 for 4 oz (maybe) of roasted chicken on a $6 medium bowl and was still hungry. For an $8 lunch I expect to be stuffed and slinging leftovers- especially on rice and veg. Fountain drinks/tea were about $2 for a 16 oz cup. I felt like I was paying mostly for ambiance. I was frustrated as a first-time Yumm customer that there were no clear ordering directions. It looks like a sit-down restaurant, but on closer examination they want customers to order at the counter, seat themselves, and then bus their own tables. There's no "Order Here" sign in evidence, or anything to make it clear. We were also instructed to order at the end of the counter facing away from the menu board, which might've been great if we had a clue what was going on with the menu, but we still needed to look it over. The order-taker was frustrated with us and stalked over to get us paper menus to look at while she stood in front of us at the register. Why is that more efficient? I was further frustrated that our order taker was not knowledgeable, and even tried to b.s. her way through questions on menu items. I have allergies, I *have* to know what's in my food. If it's "salsa," chances are it has onions, garlic, or both. Don't guess and tell me it's "just tomatoes" and get pissed when I ask you to double-check. If it's "just tomatoes," it's not typically called "salsa." Something else PLUS tomatoes equals "salsa." Seriously- for a restaurant that specializes in people with dietary restrictions or needs like vegans/vegetarians, why are questions on menu items THAT unexpected or frustrating? The order taker wasn't rude, just flustered and definitely seemed put-upon to check up on ingredients. What could make it better: clear ingredients listing, fresh (not canned) ingredients, maybe a make-your-own-Yumm-bowl bar?

Had heard good things about this place so decided to give it a shot. Ordered the original yumm bowl with chicken. Not only was it awful but their "infamous" yumm sauce tastes like sour milk. Staff was super nice but can't make up for the bad food

Love! My favorite thing is the bowl with edamame, but basically I love it all because almost everything comes with Yumm! Sauce. Their sauce tastes good on almost anything. I'd highly recommend getting some to-go, you'll definitely want to buy a bottle!

Had the Potato Cheese Soup and it kinda tasted like I crashed a Nursing Home. The soup was pureed and lacked flavor. I hate to add salt, but I was forced to and add plenty of pepper. The price for the size value was not quite there.

I resisted Cafe Yumm for the longest time because it typically gets chatted up by either a) My vegetarian/vegan buddies or b) People I know who are dieting. I have a rule of thumb that I don't weigh these opinions too heavily... cause... I mean... They don't have very many options to begin with and so MOST places where they get the illusion of variety, these groups will probably rave about. (Kill me for generalizing) I stopped in on the way home from work and stared blanky at the board for a good 5 minutes. Just too many adjectives and nouns. I mean, when I hear "rice bowl" that's sort of what I am expecting, I don't want to worry about if the tomatoes will be too much with the salsa or the tofu/pepper ratio. There is a reason simplicity works well. The gal behind the counter must have been able to sense my pondering and offered me mini yum bowl. My suspicions were correct-- just too many toppings, the rice and beans were only an afterthought to the cheese and sauce and what-have-you. I also got to experience the yum sauce in this moment, I don't know how to describe it. The board called it savory but it was tangy and acidic, I didn't enjoy it, and was thankful for the sample. Too invested now to go somewhere else, I picked the soup/salad/bread for a whopping $8, which in college land is a hefty sum. It wasn't until I got home that I realized they didn't give me the bread, to my disappointment. The salad was mostly shredded carrots and the balsamic vinegar was mostly oil. Honestly, I didn't finish it. As for the chili, it was alright. I will note here though, that if you dump enough cumin on anything I will probably eat it. Was it all worth $8? (two fancy coffee drinks? a large take out pizza at domino's? 80 packets of top roman? 8 boxes of red beans and rice? -- only to put things in college perspective) Probably not. Now with all the vinegar and spice rolling around in my stomach, my acid reflex thinks it is having a bad trip to Pink Floyd at a laser light show. I really wish I had that bread to settle it down...

If you've never been here before, just get the Yumm Bowl. Don't even bother with anything else on the menu. It's really good, it's quick and it's healthy. A perfect fit for Eugene. It's basically a burrito bowl with a delicious (and appropriately named) Yumm Sauce. There's a wide variety of bowls... I went with the Hot and Jazzy, and it was delicious. An excellent meal for anyone, especially vegetarians. They also have sandwiches and such... I've never ventured to that side of the menu, because when I go there, it's with the mission to get a Yumm Bowl. Good stuff!!

Let me tell you guys a funny/sad tale. I once visited this specific Cafe Yumm location. I asked for my usual, large souper yumm bowl, jasmine rice, yumm sauce on the side, to go. I saw them throw the souper yumm bowl, and one tiny sauce in the bag. I asked for my 2nd sauce, one every single location has provided for the past 5 years in this wonderful town. I was informed that they no longer give 2 sauces with the large, and it is only 1 now, the same as the small or the medium. I pointed out the fact that you are providing the same amount of sauce on a small which is half the food. There was no ifs ands or buts, if I wanted the sauce, I had to pay. Of course they informed me of this wonderful screw-you-development after I paid. I was starving, I had to eat something, I should have given the middle finger and gotten my money back, but I didn't. I simply haven't eaten at a single Cafe Yumm since then (about 3-4 months). Used to eat there all the time. Then, out of hunger again, I hit another Cafe Yumm location. I asked about the sauces and they said of course they provide 2 with the large. I then went to another location, they also provided the sauces and looked at me funny when I asked. These idiots on Broadway think they can needle their long time customers for .03$ worth of sauce and do so with a straight face. I hope your franchise dies and your customers all abandon you. This was the same location where about a year ago I complained about clearly rotten Avocado, only to be told that's how a ripe Avocado looks, as if I'm an idiot who has never managed to open one myself. It was literally half black, rotten. Not the it's-been-sitting-out -for-a-while guacamole oxygenation, but the this-will-make-you-sick warning that mother nature provides. They then proceeded to cut open another avocado for me, whattya know, all green! How can you serve this food all day and say something so asinine and insulting to your customers? Let this location die like the plague, go eat at any of the other 7 locations in town.

  • Dawn C.

Wow. I can't believe they're getting away with this! $5.75 for a "medium" bowl of poorly cooked rice, a bit of canned corn and olives, and 3 very thinly sliced pieces of avocado? Here's my advice: 1. Save $75 or so, buy a large size of their Yumm sauce, a bag of rice, 2-3 cans of your favorite veggies (beans, corn, olives), some salsa, and a fresh tomato/avocado once in awhile and you can make this in your dorms/homes at will. 2. If you're in a pinch, walk approximately one block further toward downtown, cross the street and eat lunch at cafe arirang. You'll pay $1 more, but you will be served more food than you may be able to eat in a single sitting AND it will be actual food, touched by human hands. Now don't get me wrong, I used to be a big fan of the Yumm. However, it had been a few years (3 maybe?) since I'd been back. Wow. New location = poorer service and ingredient. I ordered my old fave today, the Chilean Zucchini Yumm, and found 2 1/2 (yes, I counted) quarter moon slices of zucchini. Geez out. Tables weren't wiped, counter staff seemed manic, all that and it wasn't even busy. Guess I was the last to know. And, if you're still reading, you may be interested that all this "quality food" takes place under the guise of their "triple bottom line," which is: equal emphasis on social, environmental and economic goals. Hmmm....way to jump on the bandwagon as you franchise, folks. Sorry, but this is yet another example of carbonated environmentalism. I ain't buying it.

To My Annoying Roommate, I'd like to suggest you start eating healthier. I feel like i'm getting fat just by watching you eat all your fast food. My I make a suggestion??? CAFE YUMM....mmmm :) I'd say it's a hit or miss with lots of people, to where you love it and go all the time...or it's something I prefer not to eat again. But I LOVE it! It definitely has it's unique taste and some place i take my homehs that visit me to (especially the ones from Hawaii cause there's no place like that in the 808). The portions are deceiving, because it looks like a little, but guarantee you'll be full...and it's the good kind full, not the lazy "i shouldn't have ate that much" cause it's not greasy. Even if you're not vegetarian and like meat, they have some skewers that are pretty good. My favorite is the edemame! It taste different than the other ones that use the original/house sauce...but it's something that I'd suggest to people who've eaten there before, didn't like it, but your friends are forcing you to go again. The flavors are less strong, but some people may not like soybeans. I really like the Korean nori (seaweed) they top it off with. If you're not gonna eat healthier, best if you go run 10 miles right now. Yours Truly, kaibemi buks

I have been to Cafe Yumm twice. Only to be left with a filthy table cleaned by a filthier rage; more dirt is coming of the rage as the employee wipes the table. Found a long hair in my food, yuck! I won't be going back.

Cafe yumm is tasty. We enjoyed our perspective meals today. Both were good. I love that they use local n organic food stuff. I've never been dissatisfied with a meal there. That being said, I don't go out of my way to eat there either. The food, while tasty isn't anything I couldn't make at home. When I go out to eat I like entrees that are interesting and unusual. Their yumm bowls are mostly rice and beans with sauce and a smattering of veggies. All in all it's kinda boring. Why the 4 star review you ask? It's because of their business practices. Otherwise Cafe Yumm is a solid 3 star meal.

Yes, we all love Yumm sauce. But I'm not a fan of Yumm sauce soup! there is such thing as "too much of a good thing"... I think we all make better Yumm bowls in our own kitchens and far less expensive!!!

My nephew, who's three, loves this place. I'd never been, so for his birthday I went to get take-out for all of us and surprise him. (He did say "yumm," lol.) Service at this location was good, and the restaurant was clean (I went at 11:40 am). I ordered three large Original Yumm bowls because my sister said two would feed her, her husband, and the 3 year old. I figured one more would take care of my daughter (also 3) and myself. Hmm. At $6.75 it was kind of pricey. My daughter didn't like it at all...she wasn't a fan of everything mixed together and sauce covering everything. I thought the sauce was decent, but mayo-y, almost. I added chicken for $2 more to ours, and ended up eating my portion and my daughter's, and I was still hungry, $9 later! (I am 124 lbs and in good shape...not usually a heavy eater.) I think Cafe Yumm is a good healthy option for fast food. It's a little expensive, and I seriously doubt it would be economical for my husband to eat a full meal there. It would take at least 2 large bowls to fill him up.

Cafe Yumm is one of those places that I wish, so badly, that was in Seattle! This particular location was located right next to my sorority, so it was a place I frequently visited. The Yumm bowls are the best and it's nice that they had so many options - my favorite being the hot and jazzy! Not sure what their secret is, but try as I might, I cannot recreate them to save my life! I definitely miss Cafe Yumm and their yummy (haha), healthy meals. When are they expanding to Washington?!

As a first timer to Cafe Yumm, it was very interesting. My friends told me that the second time is a lot better. But here was my first time experience. We got there around 6:30 PM and it was not very busy. I came in hungry and i left hungry. There are lots of different types of Yumm bowls that you can get and they come in small, medium, and large. The small is really small, like perfect for a 5 year old small or a snack. The medium is a little bigger than the small. The large looks like it could be a medium sized, or at least that's what i thought when i saw my friends. I got the Yumm Bento with the chicken skewer, jasmine rice, and Asian Slaw. I thought the teriyaki sauce was pretty good with the rice. For about 9 bucks with a soda, it wasn't very much food. I thought it was going to be a lot more food that it was. I was hungry again about 2 hours after i ate. My friend got the original yumm bowls, because some of them are vegetarians or just like the bowl. They have their really good special sauce that you can buy. There are lots of them especially in Eugene because i have never heard of it before i got here. I want to go back so it tastes better. Also i think this is the first healthy place i have eaten since i have been in Eugene.

Café Yumm! Is defiantly a much-welcomed break to the monotony of the massive wave of multinational franchise restaurants consuming the dining landscape of America, although a growing chain in the northwest it is far from a burger or burrito with fries... who wants a burrito with fries anyhow? Café Yumm! Seems to serve up "rice bowls" if you can call it that... that are packed full of flavor with a unique style, and is most defiantly addictive, start with the Yumm Bowl (it's the gateway bowl) and move your way up from there. Ask any student on the campus of the University of Oregon and they are sure to share their rave reviews. I wish I had one of these closer to me I would probably have a new staple food.

Cafe Yumm is probably one of the most healthy fast food places you will ever come across. Of course it's in Eugene. Right? It tastes good, it's fast, it won't put on a bunch of pounds, and it's great for on the go quick food. Some things I wish they had: Drive thru. That's about it. I haven't come across many Eugene people who really DISLIKE this place. They are a great business, and the food tastes good.

This is a good place for quick, healthy food that isn't consigned to a bun. On our first trek, I had the basic yumm bowl, and my partner in crime had the chicken skewer and some soup. The skewer and soup were both really good -- nice and fresh and well done. I wasn't impressed with the yumm bowl, however. Too much stuff competing for flavor, the combination of which yields an odd taste and an odd texture. It was filling, but I didn't find myself saying "yumm".

I wish I could just rate the sauce alone. While Cafe Yumm is quite good, of course. I really like their yumm bowls...BUT, their sauce is OUTSTANDING! I love to buy big containers of it and make my own version of yumm bowls at home. Seriously...there is no vegetable that is not improved greatly by yumm sauce. I love to sautee it with kale, add it to steamed broccoli, brush it on eggplant before baking...it is all so good! I have friends that demand that I bring it to them when I travel (and are willing to pay for me to check my baggage when I do so). So, 3 stars for the cafe and 5 VERY enthusiastic stars for the sauce.

Seriously, what is with the city of Eugene and these relatively new chain restaurant concepts that seem to always be worth coming back for? There are a few of these vegetarian restaurants, but the one we visited is near campus and literally a five minute walk from our department building. When visiting, always check what soups are available because the selection changes quite often and is usually diverse enough to appeal to everyone within the group. When cousins or siblings come down, this is the restaurant that seems to be on the request list first since the dishes they serve are so fresh that it is probably quite refreshing to stomach after a four hour drive from Seattle. As a personal habit, we typically order the large Jazzy bowl or the Smoky bowl. The large Jazz bowl consists of jasmine rice with their house sauce, which can be bought at the restaurant, as well as red beans and salsa though if you would like a little more heat in your dish you can ask for the Jalapeno-Sesame salsa that would basically make it a Hot Jazzy bowl which is also on the menu. For a bit less heat, and a personal favorite, the Smoky bowl is brown rice with their house sauce as well as chili and salsa. Unless we are in the mood to splurge, we often skip the specialties as it is already relative pricey to dine here on a regular basis, especially for a college student. Definitely worth trying if you have not gone and this is sound advice from a relatively carnivorous diner.

I'm not native to Oregon. My roommate, who is, told me that we HAD to go here on our way back to Portland from a hot springs excursion near Eugene. Now, I have been a vegetarian since I was 7, and I'm 24 now. I feel that gives my evaluations of vegetarian food a long average to compete against fairly. I just really wasn't that impressed with Cafe Yumm. The staff was friendly, but the tables were dirty. The music was absolutely abysmal. The temperature was uncomfortably cold inside, in that way that made me recall my childhood- being forced to go to places like McDonalds for classmates' birthday parties, while wearing a dress that let the air from the freezers creep around my legs like a bunch of filthy ghosts. Is that a weird memory? Maybe so. But I bet a few of you out there know what I mean- that thick, stale, and dirty cold air, that feels like you have to scrub whatever came with it through the clogged ventilation system off of your body with steel wool. Ok? Anyway. I ordered a tempeh reuben. Not a feat to prepare a good one of these by any means. It was somehow bland and really scant on...everything...that it claimed to come with. The middle of the tempeh was cooler than the outside. My roommates ordered the so-famous bowls and they were tiny. My roomates were sad and commented that most of the vegetables tasted like they came from a can. I can't say I didn't warn them. As a fat person, I never trust anything that doesn't come with a side dish to pass for a meal and I am always right. These bowls wouldn't garner much applause from me had they been side dishes- they're still pretty small. And expensive. So yeah. If you want to eat unevenly cooked, bland tempeh or 1/7 of an avocado over ten grains of rice, whilst feeling dirty/cold, and listening to the worst forgotten never-hits of the late 90s, drop in to Cafe Yumm, sometime. You'll really thank yourself. To end on a positive note, the Yumm sauce is good, even though I had to ask for it as a side item. On a even more positive note, it's for sale at a ton of co-ops throughout Oregon, so you don't even have to come here to get it. Bonus!
